Quieter: Maybe the most obvious and easy difference is that the Electric drivetrain is almost perfectly silent even when stomping on the gas. Not only are ICE motors loud but they also require a lot of air intake which makes even more noise. EVs can be way more aerodynamic without that big air intake requirement and therefore have less road noise.

Gears suck: They aren’t just inefficient and disruptively rpm noisy but they are also motion jarring to the driver and passenger. That’s not luxury in the modern age. Smooth acceleration

Acceleration: Did someone say acceleration? An EV can jump off the line quicker and more effortlessly than almost any internal combustion-engined vehicle. But it can also do the all important 50mph-70mph passing. Know what’s not luxury? Not being able to quickly pass a semi.

Deceleration – rather than hitting those large disc brakes and spitting out brake dust for everyone to inhale, EVs mostly rely on smooth regeneration of the energy back into the battery(..)

P.S. It is a very good electric car, which will soon be called one of the ICE vehicle "killers"! Mercedes EQS does not pose any risks for Tesla, as its sales volume will grow at the expense of internal combustion engine car sales. Furthermore, Mercedes has not provided a real answer and tangible evidence that it can produce and sell these electric cars in significant quantities.

In any case, the segment of the expensive car market will become saturated with electric cars much faster than the remaining segment of the affordable car market. The number of buyers of expensive electric cars is not large, and it will be easy to saturate this part of the market with very expensive long-range luxury electric cars...

Brazil going green amid US$8bn local electric vehicle production plans

Brazil is turning the page toward electric vehicles (EV) with nearly US$8 billion in private sector investments aimed at kicking off the production of new EV models and their components on Brazilian soil.

In addition to new EV models from traditional legacy brands such as Audi (Q8 e-tron), BMW (iX1, i7), Chevrolet (Bolt), Fiat (500e Abarth), Ford (Mach E), Mercedes Benz (EQE SUV), Renault (Megane E-tech) coming to the Brazilian market in 2023, three automakers will actually be producing EVs locally in the country in 2024.

While US-based Argentine owned BMC (Bravo Motor Company) is investing US$5bn in local production, Chinese automaker GWM (Great Wall Motors) is injecting some US$2bn toward production, and its Chinese counterpart BYD (Build Your Dreams) is investing approximately US$600mn, the latter two taking place in existing factories.

Mercedes Locks Faster Acceleration Behind a $1,200 Annual Paywall - Slashdot

Mercedes is the latest manufacturer to lock auto features behind a subscription fee, with an upcoming "Acceleration Increase" add-on that lets drivers pay to access motor performance their vehicle is already capable of. From a report:

The $1,200 yearly subscription improves performance by boosting output from the motors by 20-24 percent, increasing torque, and shaving around 0.8 to 0.9 seconds off 0-60 mph acceleration when in Dynamic drive mode. The subscription doesn't come with any physical hardware upgrades -- instead, it simply unlocks the full capabilities of the vehicle, indicating that Mercedes intentionally limited performance to later sell as an optional extra. Acceleration Increase is only available for the Mercedes-EQ EQE and Mercedes-EQ EQS electric car models. As global sales for new cars have fallen in recent years, car manufacturers have pivoted toward selling software updates and features as subscriptions to generate a continuous revenue stream long after a car has been purchased.
