My latest HubPages article discusses what it's like to live and work with a chronic mental illness. For many with disabilities, everyday tasks are difficult. Yet I truly believe that life is always worth living.

You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel angry, annoyed, sad, frustrated, scared and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. 𝘐𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 🌻
Mental health is an integral component of maintaining good overall health.
When people are mentally healthy, they are able to realise their own abilities, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively and make positive contributions to their community and family, however, when people experience poor mental health, they may start to withdraw and can experience debilitating symptoms such as depression and anxiety. Poor mental health can also affect physical health, as individuals might react by neglecting their physical health through inconsistent eating habits, poor hygiene, and general malaise.
Mental health is just as important as keeping the rest of your body in good shape. Our minds, thoughts, and feelings need to be cared for frequently and purposefully. Mental health is governed by many internal factors, such as anxiety, fear, depression and worry - as well as outside forces such as sickness, hardship and loss.
@rethinkmentalillness
"The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is loneliness which is fitting, when you consider the events of the last two years.
At points, we’ve all missed talking to our families or friends in the flesh, we’ve all longed for a hug from that one person who makes us feel safe, we’ve all longed for that freedom to do what we wanted to do. That isolation we all felt is something that can have a profound impact on our mental health, without doubt."
Positive vibes only’ isn’t a thing. Humans have a wide range of emotions and that’s OK.

Where Were You? Where Were We?
What man was ever known to do this? To command the floods to come. Who commanded the depths of the ocean and all that lies therein. It is God who created the firmament to divide the waters from the waters. The clouds clothe the waters above the earth, separating them from the depths of the water within the earth, and under the earth. Where were we?

PROCESSING YOUR EMOTIONS WITHOUT SUPPRESSING THEM - TECHNIQUES
Tumblr media
this post is all about how to process emotions that we are uncomfortable with, safely and positively. Today, I’d like it if you’d try to implement at least one technique today!
REMINDERS
Remember that when you feel an emotion, it is your body communicating itself to you. Listen to your emotion, and understand.
All emotions are temporary, and will pass. But some can leave a more long term effect on us.
Having the skill of sitting through uncomfortable emotions calmly, and not let it impact our lives greatly will serve you well.
TECHNIQUES
STOP TECHNIQUE
S- Stop what you’re doing, pause all activities and shut off your brain.
T- Take a few deep breathes, continue until your focus is only on breathing deeply.
O- Observe your thoughts, your body language, any physical sensations and acknowledge them within you.
P- Proceed with any activity that may help you process this emotion. Meditation, journaling, stretching, talking to someone, etc.
ALL TECHNIQUE
A- Acknowledge, accept and alllow what you feel. Identify what emotion you feel, if you can’t, try to associate it with something. Sit in this feeling for awhile and truly accept it within you.
L- Link it to a circumstance or situation that may explain why you’re feeling this way. E.g ‘I feel so irritated lately, it may be because I’ve been eating sugary foods more’
L- Learn what this emotion may be telling you. There’s not much detail on this because only you know what your body needs/wants.
SELF EXPRESSION
Draw, write, compose music on what this feeling looks like, sounds like, maybe even their taste. This really helps go deep in your emotions, analyse it and then hopefully process it.

SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER: A COMPLETE GUIDE
You have a presentation tomorrow. You are feeling jitters in your tummy. Your palms are sweaty and your heart feels like it will jump out of your chest at any moment. But when the time comes to present, you get on the stage, give your presentation and get through the process. Talking in front of strangers or public speaking does not come easily to most people. However, most of us can slog through. Unfortunately, if you have a social anxiety disorder or social phobia, the stress put on you due to such situations can be very high.
People who suffer from social anxiety disorder prefer to avoid any and all kinds of social gatherings that can act as triggers. These gatherings or may include speaking in front of a large audience or meeting up a few friends in a café. Everything that is normal in our eyes may be impossible for a person who suffers from social anxiety disorder. Because of this, not only does your work-life fall apart, your social and personal life as well goes along with it.
In the United States alone, social anxiety disorder affects around 5.3 million people. The average age at which social anxiety disorder manifests its symptoms are between 11 and 19 years (teenagers). Studies show that social phobia is the third most common mental health problem that people suffer from. This comes after alcoholism and depression. Social anxiety is an extremely debilitating condition. It can limit your engagement in all aspects of your life. People suffering from severe social anxiety disorder stop stepping out of their house because they are afraid that they will have to talk to others. They will not go grocery shopping or even engage with their neighbors.
Since social anxiety disorders are a very common mental health issue, there has been a lot of research. Many treatment options are also available. If you feel that you are suffering from social anxiety disorder, you need to ask for help. In this article, I will be discussing how to identify if you are suffering from social phobia and whether you need to see a doctor for the same or not. #socialanxiety #anxietydisorders #mentalhealth

the concept of failure ₊˚⊹♡₊˚
there is no such thing as failure. everything that seems to go wrong, every little inconvenience, whatever makes you grit your teeth and stress out and beat yourself up for; none of it means you've failed at whatever you're trying to do, because failure simply does not exist.
failure literally means lack of success. and that word is allowed into your vocabulary? you're allowed to describe anything you do as a failure? as "i've failed?"
no matter what you're trying to be, where you are, how you're trying to live, what your current life looks like, the way you live, the way you talk, where you come from, what you do, what you say, none of it can possibly fail, even if it seems that way. because everything in your life made for you, by you.
everything is the way it is because everything is always aligning in your best interests, whether it seems like it or not. whatever seems like its "failing" now is to show you there is so much more coming in the future.
think about it for a sec. everything you've classed as a failure in your life has taught you something. say there was somebody in your life, close to you or not, that changed you not for the better. you wouldn't be reading this if you hadn't learnt anything from that. it wasn't time wasted, you shouldn't have been wiser, none of these things people tell themselves when things like this happen. it was meant to happen regardless because it was supposed to teach you and evolve you into what you are and where you're headed now.
no matter what you do, you cannot fail, because no matter what you do it is always going to aid you in the future in some way or another, whether it be to teach you a lesson, help somebody in a similar situation, use your experience in a future scenario, anything you can think of, whether said action is bad or good.
your internal reality reflects onto your external reality. even when you have such a belief that everything you do is bound to fail, even then it's still impossible because you are succeeding in making everything fail for yourself. that is still success. that is still not failing.
please stop being so concerned over this. whatever you're trying to do, whatever you're trying to pursue, whatever you're trying to achieve, please stop stressing over failure. no matter what happens, you can not fail. you got this.

The Value of Wisdom and Its Judgments (Part Two)!!!
Take heed to the promises for those who do so out of a pure heart. We will need these as perilous times approach. We will need Him. He promises to answer when we call him.
Let me close with this: “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not” (Isaiah 58: 11, KJV).

HOW TO TO STOP OVERTHINKING
Tumblr media
worrying is meant to be a good thing, it keeps us safe from dangerous or unideal circumstances. Overthinking is when it’s not helpful
When we overthink, we seek three things. Comfort, certainty and control. So, it’s important to learn how to be uncomfortable, expect the unexpected, have no control over situations and be fine with each of these things.
remember: no amount of worrying or overthinking can undo or solve problems.
COMFORT -> BEING UNCOMFORTABLE - We all need to start being uncomfortable with the comfortable, and being okay with things not going our way. To achieve this, we need to change our perspective on things that discourage or scare us. While this isn’t easy at all, it pays off in the long term. Start taking more risks everyday, and being open minded to new opportunities for growth, even if they’re not ideal. I say start small, like running an extra 10 minutes on your 20 minute run or saying hello to any potential friends\partners.
A little nice activity to do daily, is that while you’re making your goals/daily todo list, write down something that you absolutely do not want to do. Then, force yourself to do it(I say this in a disciplined manner). Remember, to keep on motivation, reward yourself for taking a risk today.
CONTROL -> NOT BEING IN CONTROL - The reality is that you don’t have control over many things. However, there are a handful of things we do have control over which most likely affect us the most. When you’re overthinking, get a piece of paper and a pen and write out the situation you’re overthinking about. Then draw one big circle and a smaller circle inside of it. In the big circle write things not within your control e.g what she says, cancelled plans, waiting for something etc. In the small circle write the things within your control e.g what you say, how you spend your time, what you consume etc. This allows us to think deeply about the situation, realise the actual impact of it on you, and problem solve(if it’s an actual big deal).
if you don’t know if it’s within your control or not, ask yourself if you can do anything to change the current situation. If yes, it is within your control. However, know that because something is in your control, doesn’t mean you’re always going to achieve your desired results.
CERTAINITY -> BEING UNCERTAIN - The ironic thing is that even if we think we’re certain about something, there is always a small chance that an event/situation may change. However, this isn’t something to fear at all! Once a plan fails, or you don’t achieve your goals, don’t get discouraged. There are still plenty of opportunities for growth and plenty of time to achieve your goals. I say, start living in the present time when you’re actually sure of what’s going to happen. Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year, but focus on now and what you can accomplish. Stop dwelling on the future, and what may happen.
If you find yourself worrying about the future, just meditate or journal. It gives us mental clarity to put our focus onto the things that are happening/happenend.
