I think meekness is probably the most important virtue we Christians have to master especially for men. Because there are too many guys who hate being seen as weak so they resort to arrogance and anger without any rational thought to feel powerful. But meekness is the combination of humility and strength. It’s using strength to preserve God’s laws, not to protect one’s ego - which is essentially prideful and pride is one of the seven deadly sins. If they can’t control their anger then they’re not safe to be around with.
I believe that Archbishop Fulton Sheen has the best explanation for meekness:
“A weak man can never be meek, because he is never self-possessed; meekness is that virtue which controls the combative, violent and pugnacious powers of our nature, and is therefore the best and noblest road to self-realization. The meek man is not a man who refuses to fight, nor is he a man who will never become angry. A meek man is a man who will never do one thing: he will never fight when his conceit is attacked, but only when a principle is at stake. And there is the keynote to the difference of the anger of the Communist and the anger of the meek man.”
“For the meek man, not selfishness but righteousness is his guiding principle. He is so possessed, he never allows his fists to go up for an unholy purpose, or in defense of his pride or vanity, or conceit, or because he wants the wealth of another. Only the principles of God’s righteousness arouse a meek man. Moses was a meek man, but he broke the tablets of stone when he found his people were disobeying God. Our Lord is Meekness Itself, and yet He drove the buyers and sellers from the Temple when they prostituted His Father’s House; He is angry only when holiness is attacked, but never when His Person is attacked.”
- Archbishop Fulton Sheen, The Cross and the Beatitudes

DAVID ARMS HIMSELF
1 Samuel 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH
1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

“The monk is engaged in endless struggle, and often  very pitched struggle, but an Orthodox monk is not a fakir. He is not interested in the acquisition, through special exercises, of specific psychic powers, which is what so many ignorant seekers of mystical life expect. Monks engage in difficult, constant battle, and some of them, like Elder Siluan, engage in a titanic struggle, invisible to the  outside world, to destroy within themselves the proud beast and to  become men, real men in the image of the perfect Man — Jesus Christ —  humble and meek.
This is a strange life, incomprehensible to the secular world; everything in it is paradox, everything is in a form  opposite to the order of the secular world, and it is impossible to  explain it in words. The only way to understand it is to perform the will of God, that is, to follow the commandments of Christ; the path,  indicated by Him.”
~From The Life and Teachings of Elder Siluan, by Bishop Alexander and Natalia Bufius

Today we celebrate the Holy Emperor John Vatatzes the Merciful. Saint John was married to Irene, the daughter of Theodore Laskareos, the pious man who composed the Great Paraklesis to the Theotokos. Soon after his marriage, he ascended the throne as Emperor of Nicea in 1222 AD. He ruled with Christ-like justice and meekness, and gave alms generously to the people. He reposed in peace after many years of servitude to his people. Seven years after his burial, through divine revelations, the faithful were instructed to translate his relics to Magnesia in Asia Minor. When they opened the tomb, instead of a rotting corpse and a foul odour, they found the righteous king’s body completely in tact, emitting a heavenly fragrance. The skin of the Saint had not darkened at all and it was said he looked as if he was made of white marble. From here developed the tradition of the Marble King. According to tradition (and even many saints) before the end of time, the Marble King will rise from his tomb and liberate his people. Many Christians hope in this being the means of reclaiming our kingly City of Constantinople. May he intercede for us all + #saint #john #vatatzes #merciful #holy #emperor #romanemperor #holyromanempire #marbleking #marmaromenosvasilias #byzantine #byzantium #irene #relics #holyrelics #meekness #christ #jesus #jesuschrist #nicea #paraklesis #greatparaklesis #author #composer #orthodox (at Constantinople - Κωνσταντινούπολη) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkgtdNqrxhA/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Misconceptions of the Hebrew Israelite Woman
Tumblr media
I have seen far too often on social media other women of color coming to very wrong conclusions about Israelite women. Especially christians and this is what fascinates me. The only difference between the two groups (black christian women and israelite women) is that one group keeps the scriptures to the best of their abilities and the other only proclaims to. For me it doesn't matter what you label yourself, what truly matters is how you are showing forth your beliefs. Scripture tells women how they should be, and it also gives us examples through women like Sarah. If you are a descendant of the slave trade and have ancestors that endured the 400 years of curses/slavery spoke of in Deuteronomy then you must also understand that you are a child of Israel. If you are a woman, this understanding comes with certain expectations; submission, modesty, meekness and humility are pillars that hold us firm in the word, truth and light that is our Ala'aym YA'OH or as some know Him (Yah, Yahweh, God). Proverbs 31 is often referenced to describe a good woman but in order to make it to that position you would first have to be a wife. In order to become a wife you must live and prove yourself daily through submission and humility. This can be shown through covering your body with modesty, guarding your lips by speaking less, giving men respect and taking care of your temple by saving yourself for marriage. These are all biblical qualities any woman that claims to believe in the scriptures should exemplify. Sirach 25 is a great chapter to study as a woman, to make sure that you do not fit any of those descriptions. The contention between sisters that claim to believe the same book hopefully will come to an end very soon. YA'OH is looking down on us as women and expecting us to follow his word and keep his commandments. As a woman , in my opinion, as a Yasharaliy (Israelite) our main goal is to become wives and mothers. There is no greater assignment that Yah has given us, and our men need us to put our pride aside and take our place by their sides as ribs. We are needed in that capacity and the false reality this Babylon has created has caused much confusion. Hence why He who finds a wife finds a good thing.. It's too many sisters that think so many other things are more important than keeping the Most High's word. May Yah continue to show our sisters who He is to their Face so that the truth of the matter can no longer be denied.
"I had rather dwell with a lion and a dragon, than to keep house with a wicked woman." Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) 25:17

Lessico delle Emozioni.
Mitezza.
