Egy medvét

kiszabadítottak egy medvefarmról, ahol az epéjüket csapolják le. Borzalmas körülmények között tartják ezeket az állatokat, kb mintha csak epetermelő gépek lennének, nem érző lények. Konkrét kínzás az egész életük. Elvitték a medvét egy állatparkba és lefilmezték azt ahogy játszik a vízben, amit még sosem látott. Az egész park olyan mint valami medvemennyország. Arra gondoltam, hogy az ő élete már megérte. Ezért az időért, ezért az élményért amit most átélhet. Aztán az jutott eszembe, hogy micsoda jellemző önigazoló szentimentalizmus ez, hogy azt gondoljuk, hogy pár jó pillanat ellensúlyozhat sok évnyi kínzást és szenvedést. Valójában annak a medvének egy erdőben kellett volna élnie, szabadon. Már nem lehet visszavadítani, és persze a park ezerszer jobb, mint a ketrec ahol sínylődött. De nem kéne magunkat olyan nagyszerűnek éreznünk, mert valójában érző lényeket kínzunk és ölünk meg mindenféle módokon. Amúgy én azt hiszem egyszer majd rájönnek, hogy az állatoknak vannak gondolataik, érzelmeik és személyiségük. És egyszer majd kikerülhetetlen lesz, hogy ha valóban a Föld urai szeretnénk lenni, akkor elszámoljunk mindazzal a borzalommal, amit elkövetünk.

If you described the plot of the winternight trilogy to someone they’d say “that’s spinning silver” and if you described the characters of the winternight trilogy to someone they’d say “that’s uprooted” but it’s NOT

It’s like Naomi novik and Katherine Arden thought of the same book and then wrote it completely completely differently

At face value vasya and morozko are literally just agnieszka and sarkan but they’re so completely different with such completely unique complex inner thoughts

And that’s just good writing on all sides of the equation

the way i was so taken by konstantin’s twisted obsession with vasya for the first two books and how it culminated at the beginning of the third but then the second i got to Those book 3 scenes i was like. oh. like, i get why people are insane abt him and medved now. me too, even.

#i’ve said it many times and i don’t ship this man with anyone as he is cause he’s pathetic and so consumed by self-hatred but his dynamics #w vasya and medved are made so delicious by it. and its just so interesting that his hatred & desire for vasya set the tone #for other characters to read him like a book. kasyan asking how much he loves vasya and then saying hatred for her is the same in his case #and medved saying he’s not one to distinguish between monster and devil before he kisses him #and vasya looking at him looking at medved and thinking he sees a creature he loves and reviles just as he loves and reviles himself #he’s just soooo. i’m eating him <3 #also the way he sorta hates medved in that exasperated way but medved somehow loves him !? and is the only one to mourn him after !? #like yes his and vasyas mutual hatred is everything but also ‘he was mine. he was beautiful. he is gone. of course i mourn’ from a creature #who had initially made himself his god and then somehow ended up konstantin’s admirer. obsessed #the winternight trilogy #konstantin nikonovich #faera's
