Books to Read in MBBS 3rd Year
The 3rd year MBBS curriculum includes Community Medicine (PSM), Forensic Medicine and toxicology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), and Ophthalmology subjects. Many books are available for these subjects, but not all of them prove suitable for you. You should choose books that are easy to understand and have a lot of useful diagrams, charts, tables, etc. These books should also follow the latest CBME pattern. Here are some recommended books for 3rd-year MBBS students.
Community Medicine (PSM)
Community Medicine, also known as preventive and social medicine, is a subject that deals with the health of the population and the prevention of diseases.

Why You Should Put Garlic in Your Ear Before Going to Sleep

If you want to see what happens when things go south, all you have to do is look at Venezuela: no electricity, no running water, no law, no antibiotics, no painkillers, no anesthetics, no insulin or other important things...

27. What’s your favorite book?
30. What are you looking forward to in the near future? <3
hey hey thanks for the ask!
27. My favorite book is Little Women by LM Alcott, I just love it so much. It gives me the feeling that though an event may seem divergent for now, and weird, there will be a time when you will be content with it. It taught me to be as boyish as I want as a girl. It taught me to say no, and it taught me about castles in the air when I have the key.
30. In the near future, I'm looking forward to finally getting an mbbs college so I can study medicine.

Hi!!!
I love your blog so much, it helps me a lot ☺
I've got a couple of questions, please answer them if you can
Do you have any advice on how to take notes? Does it have to be different for university exams and for PG prep? And how do you recommend taking notes from standard textbooks?
Are there any particular textbooks from your undergraduate years that you're always so grateful for reading, something that helps you even now?
And how do you keep yourself motivated? MBBS seems endless sometimes, and the future holds so much uncertainty... This has been making me feel low and unmotivated lately
Hiii !
Thanks a lot🫶
The field of medicine is always going to be a roller coaster ride. It is okay to feel unmotivated and uncertain. All of us have been/ are going through such phases every now and then, but good news is you will figure it out eventually and things will work out in the end❤️
So about notes taking:
Yes notes taking while preparing for PG is different from the ones while preparing for your mbbs finals, but personally the notes I made during my mbbs days were very helpful for my PG preparation it saved me so much time from rewatching all videos or from buying new guides.
While making notes I read the topic top to bottom once and then I would write down the important points down during second read because I would know the important points to focus on better during the second time and I would make sure that it is as concise as possible and I wouldn't usually note down information that I know very well.
My notes are usually full off tables, flow charts, sticky notes. I use as many colours as possible- all my pens, sticky notes and highlighter are colour coded so that it stays in my photographic memory and I can recall easily!
About the important books that I loved and forever grateful to have read it are:
1. Robbin & Cotran: pathology
2. Bailey & Love: surgery
3. Essentials of ophthalmology: by Samar K Basak
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these three books cover to cover!
My advice on keeping ourselves motivated is having the right set of friends who are motivated but not competitive. It is very important to have friends in college who are equally interested in learning just like us and we learn a lot from our friends than from our professors! Never aim for perfection and never be greedy to know it all! As a doctor in the making it is important to be a jack of all trades rather than being the master of one. B open to learning new information always but at the same time it is okay to not know every part of your textbook. Making use of your clinical rtation effectively will guide you to study the most needed syllabuses. While studying don't focus on becoming the topper of your class but rather on knowing the essential information this will help you in the long run.
Take break whenever you feel exhausted and tired- it can be for a few hours or a day or even for a week. Always take adequate mental health breaks and developing a hobby is good for your mental health providing a healthy distractions too!
Remember failure is never the end in medical field it is truly a learning opportunity. Just like the saying two step forward and one step backward is still one step forward!!
These are some of my notes that I took during my second year. I carried forward these notes throughout my mind and kept on adding important points to the same notebook and used it even for my PG prep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All the best! Make good friends and most importantly have as much fun as possible💕

Tag 9 people you want to get to know better
I was tagged by @thescrumptiousbooksstuff !!
Three Ships
1. Tinn and Gun (I nearly missed discovering them but thankfully, i started watching MSP and the way these two have a strong grip on my heart 😍😮‍💨😭)
2. Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter (I may not have shipped them while reading the books, but reading all the excellent fanfics have changed my mind)
3. Prapai and Sky from Love in the Air (They are WAY too cute and oh to have my very own prapai)
[You know just HOW HARD it is to just list 3 ships, considering just how many i read fanfics for]
First Ever Ship
I mean, my first EVER ship was (still is, to be honest) Natsu Dragneel/Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail. Fairy Tail was my introduction to world of anime (i considered Pokemon as cartoons as they had eng dub when i watched it) and I still pray for the day they actually become canon.
My first M/M ship? That would probably be Kirk/Spock from the Chris Pine movies (AOS). They might not have had that actual onscreen romance, but their devotion to each other was simply unparalleled.
It's either that or Stiles Stilinski/Derek Hale from Teen Wolf. I started shipping them while reading fanfics of them first, then watching Sterek scenes and actually watching the show only a few years ago.
Last Song
Sugar Rush Ride by Tomorrow x Together - This song and Devil by the Window from txt's lovely album The Name Chapter: Temptation have me in a tight grip.
As of writing this post, the song changed to the My School President cover of Just Being Friendly so might as well add that in. Because I LOVE this cover so so much. The MSP soundtrack is probably gonna be my part of most streamed albums this year.
Last Movie
I haven't seen an actual movie in almost 2 months. But I last watched
Matilda: The Musical on Christmas. It was such a good musical, thoroughly enjoyed watching, especially the Revolting Children sequence, it was GLORIOUS (though i still like the old movie better, this was a good nostalgic trip)
Definitely watch if you like Matilda.
Currently Reading
I'm assuming you're asking about actual original books instead of fanfics, right? Because I'm sorry but if so the last actual non fanfic stuff I've read is Davidson's Principles and Practice of Medicine, not kidding.
I'm actually preparing for a very important pg medical exam so it's mostly like mbbs books with fanfics and genshin and some thai bls during breaks.
Currently Consuming
Black Coffee (I'm having french roast americano that i made in my coffee maker at home) and had breakfast just a while back which consisted of paranthas made with radish filling!!
Tagging:
I honestly didn't really expect to make friends on Tumblr because I've always been more of a lurker on this site. But I've found a lot of interesting people. I may tag you but you're in no way obligated to have to answer them, feel free to ignore if you want!
