Medical update (TW)

Hi everyone. Thank you guys so so so much for your patience, well wishes, and support. I am incredibly sorry and disappointed in myself that I haven’t been able to update recently because of my myriad of health issues and crises.

Now for the update.

- unfortunately I relapsed into self harm on my birthday. It’s a rough day for me and always has been. I lost my 22 week clean streak. But it’s okay, I will make it to 22 weeks again 💗.

- I saw a surgeon last week who specializes in spine surgery and that appointment went really well. I have a lot of hope about the future. I am having epidural steroid injections this coming Tuesday to help calm down my herniated discs and make me immediately comfortable. I have to get some more tests and x rays done for the surgeon to fully see what’s wrong with my spine, but surgery is very much on the table.

- I won’t really get into the full extent of it but these next few days will be really hard for me. Unfortunately, a lot of the trauma I explore in my stories are autobiographical. If my work has ever resonated with you, I hope you know that you’re not alone and you’re resonating with me and what I’ve been through.

Every single adult in my childhood (save for one) neglected/abused/hurt/abandoned me and today I have to go meet one of them for the first time in years. I am doing my very best but… I’m scared. I’m terrified. I’m so anxious. I spent all of last night crying over this person.

It will be alright eventually. I am still working on fic and trying to put down a few words everyday. But please, please, please - continue to have patience and faith in me 💗

Here I am looking slightly dishevelled, hopped up on Ativan, wearing a hospital gown and heading into the longest MRI of my life, today. Brain, cervical and thoracic spine. As if I’m not claustrophobic enough, they lock a mask over my face for the brain portion.

Unfortunately, one of the machines broke down and my appointment was rescheduled 3 times. I’m grateful they were able to squeeze me in before the weekend. I cope with cluster headaches/migraines that can even wake me up at night. Sometimes my skull is burning right down my neck. This is all likely nerve-related stuff but I prefer to be safe than sorry. (I actually haven’t had a MRI for over 6 months.) It would be nice to hear that the cancer is shrinking. 🙏

Next week, I have a bone scan, CT scan, lab work and an oncologist appointment (all at different hospitals). It will be a very busy week along with all of the kids’ appointments and things I need to do for them. The adventures of being a Mom and a cancer patient never ends! 🎉

As it’s Easter weekend, I hope the beautiful weather continues and to relax as much as possible. Aside from maybe sorting some paperwork, I hope to get outside for a walk.

Most of the results for my tests will likely take 2 weeks. I heard things are moving slowly at the hospital as management is away and there’s limited radiologist on staff. So I’ll be lucky to hear anything back by mid-April.

Anyway, those 2 Ativan’s made me really tired. I managed to shower when I got home (washing the hospital cooties off me). But now, I think it’s audiobook time (if I can stay awake).

Here’s a video of my Aunt and Uncles oldest cat (18) laying on me and washing herself. She gave me shit at the end of trying to move her.

Another update! This one has good and bad news and I was going to put medical stuff under the cut, but honestly, it's just financial at this point.

I'm likely not going to be able to take commissions for the foreseeable future. My days are unpredictable and I can't take on work that has a deadline. BUT I think I'll be able to make content again soon. It'll be different from what I've made in the past, and it'll only be on tumblr. I'm going to make a pinned post with links for those of you who want to support me since my finances are pretty shit right now and comms and voice work were my bread. But yeah. Look forward to some new stuff. I have ideas :3 Subject to change if things go downhill though.

So, Yeah, my insurance fucked around long enough getting my procedures and referrals through that...well, they dropped me. (I can't explain why. It's too exhausting. Basically US insurance is shit). And now I'm having symptoms that don't even align with what was wrong in the first place. So, I'm just tired and being thrust around specialists almost every day.

**Edit to thank everyone for help and support! Donations are no longer a necessity, I got a lot of bills paid, and I'm (sort of) working again. <3

So Jake Dixon is still not feeling 100%. He has gone to the medical to see if he has hit himself on the head again, but they didn't see anything. Aspar has said that the team is fully behind the rider and if he decided to withdrew, then they have Dixon's back. No pressure at all, they just want Dixon at his best,

Recovering from COVID

Hey so I haven't been on in a while because I was sick with viral Encephalitis from COVID back in December, I've been battling a cold this month so far. Being terminal makes me pretty susceptible to illnesses and it takes me forever to recover. I'm currently working on a visual novel and studying for my ISC2 CC and Pentest+ but I just wanted to say I appreciate all the follows and reblogs even though I've been gone forever. I hope to get back to research in the future, I guess I've also been dealing with depression too because of SAD so I haven't had much motivation between being sick and depressed lol. I am trying to get back into programming though with this visual novel with RenPy so hopefully completing a project will boost my confidence again. :) Thanks once again!

Update on my personal health

Apparently I had an appointment today but I never received the letter *rolls eyes stupid royal mail changing their delivery rosters and reducing the hours. Knew this would happen*

Anyways. I got to chat with my consultant and he said that my squatter hasn't moved much over the last 3 years. Not that this means I can get away with no surgery.

That's still on the cards, but at least I don't have that dark shadow hanging over me now.

I've got another mri scan in 6 months and see what happens after that.

At least I've got a stay of execution

Medical Update

Hello, it's Cuckoo-on-a-string here.

Ofsappho asked me to post on their behalf. For nearly a week, they've been dealing with an extremely bad flareup in their back, and they've been struggling to walk around their apartment/sit upright long enough to work their day job, let alone write for fun. The suffering has only gotten worse, and so far none of the usual treatments have helped.

They are currently in the ER. There have been some new, alarming symptoms, and hopefully the doctors can both alleviate the worst of the pain and start the path towards a long-term management plan. They are in agony right now.

Thoughts, prayers, and anything else you have to spare is appreciated.
