robert is a goal scoring legend, i don't think that can be disputed. back in ye olden days when i was a... bayern fan, i thought he was very cool. i don't really pay attention to him anymore outside his records and getting mad at him for scoring against hertha tbh. i guess he's not leaving bayern in a great way? idk, i'm just ignoring all that stuff so he's still cool in my book lol

dortmund! they're sympatisch to me, always have been but i don't have super strong positive feelings toward them for some reason. it was fun when they won the pokal, wish they would do that with the bundesliga *cough cough cough* they're definitely one of those "i'm fine with them until they play hertha" teams but generally i feel good things about them

i liked the part where kaeya might have guessed that venti was an archon if only because that would make that silly plot point (finding venti just like that to use dvalin as a taxi instead of like... asking venti about khaenriah? and also weird that venti kiiinda commanded dvalin again) have more serious lasting consequences

also funny that apparently lisa is third in command in the knights when she specifically forwent captaincy in order to remain a simple librarian... do actual captains like eula and hertha not cut it? knights of favonius and their broken structure is something else alright (just sweeping eula under the rug as soon as the banner ended lol)

there’s nothing new about kaeya’s and diluc’s dynamic though, if anything diluc is only more uh, diluc-like (more taciturn than even usual and more seemingly annoyed with kaeya than before), enhancing the feeling that this is more like fanservice rather than actual character-development relevant dialogues although i suppose it’s worth hammering it into players who haven’t been paying too much attention to them before that?

i do wonder if that was just another ‘semi-dramatic shot of kaeya looking at diluc when sniping at him’ or a hint towards ‘kaeya knows about khemia and probably albedo too & diluc might know something about khaenriah but who knows whether he guessed anything about albedo’, tbh feels like reaching on my part lol but still 

THAT SAID, the conches and their npc dialogues do give more insight! especially interesting for me is how both of them bring up their childhood memories, with kaeya especially longing for them and repeating it every other dialogue (also continuing his serenitea lines) just to drive that point home

despite clearly also thinking about their past, i’d say that in the conch dialogue diluc once again shows that his understanding of kaeya is lacking (most egregious in his story quest when he thought that kaeya was going to ‘get back at him’ by outing him as batman when that couldn’t have been anywhere close to kaeya’s real motivations) he seems mildly surprised every time kaeya expresses positive feelings about him or their years together ..yeah diluc just can’t read kaeya when it comes to anything other than battle plans and strategies huh

to be fair he seems socially awkward in general, only flourishing in scripted gentlemanly situations or when talking 1 to 1 (a bit difficult to gauge since Everyone Loves the Traveler in the game), so he might have trouble with socializing and reading people in general - perhaps it’s not so much that the trauma made him that way but rather that with his former sunny disposition and kaeya as his paimon-figure translator and personal strategist it hadn't been as noticeable.. or needed it’s like having a friend who always orders for you and then suddenly they’re gone and you have to order pizza over the phone yourself

also this... CUTE... so even though he views the whole thing as frivolous and wants some peace and quiet he still agreed to play with klee <З

"Schwaben" & "alps" somehow doesn't compute. I realize there's Bavarian Swabia, but are those people concerned by "Schwabenhass"? Weren't that the Stuttgarters? Oh the complexity! I've to admit, though, as a fan of a not-so-successful German club, I, too, get a little weary of the Union "Kultklub-Gedoens". They're all Kultklubs, dammit! Journalists seem conditioned to invoke the word "Kult!" wrt Union. Werder is a Kultklub. So is Dynamo, so is Bochum. FCN is actually Der Club. (RB's not a club).

(oh okay, he wasn't targeted by the Schwabenhass. Should have read it first. FWIW, I've made some great personal experiences with Union fans and more bad than good ones with Hertha fans, but the annoyance about the general fuss remains a bit... Like with the mia san mia Gedoens. The others are themselves as well, aren't they? (Gedoens is such a great word!))

1. I’m SOOOOO annoyed but the whole “Kultig” thing too. That said, I’ve literally NEVER heard it from any Union fan. It’s something fans of other clubs use when they talk abt us. And like I get that we’re sometimes self-righteous. It’s a thing when being a football fan. If you don’t think your club is the best, why are you a fan??

But the thing that really irks me about it and makes me go pissy is that it’s usually in relation to things that... we only did bc the alternative was bankruptcy. Like the blood donation thing and the stadium building thing are a) objectively cool af and b) done because we were broke. Like every other East German team - and when I say East German I specifically don’t mean Austrian dependences.

And so its like... it was insanely hard for us to go up to first league. We were the first East German team to manage that in over a decade. We did it without getting a sponsorship from a Sheikh or China or Russia or Qatar (like a lot of the clubs whose fans now are like “ugh they’re kultig, how annoying”). Instead we did it as a club where part of the self-understanding is that the club is OURS, which means fans feel comfortable doing stuff like... groups of people breaking into the stadium for a spontaneous singing session on Christmas. Which is where the Weihnachtssingen comes from - that then has been copied by a lot of other clubs (who are less kultig bc for them it’s then been organised by a marketing agency and it wasnt technically breaking and entering)

and I knoooooooooow we’re not perfect. We’re still participating in the capitalist corruption world of Pro football. But we’re also the club with the 2nd lowest market value in the Bundesliga (and the next higher club has 50% more than we have). We’re playing with a special permit for our stadium (that we only got bc we presented contracts showing we will upgrade it) bc it doesn’t have a sufficient amount of VIP lounges and seats - our capacity is fine, but we don’t have enough seats bc seats are usually more expensive both as tickets and to build and we’re a poor club with a mostly poor fanbase.

soo like its a bit hypocritical when clubs that are like “oh we’re so pro fan culture” mock a club for having fan culture only bc that club... happens to be from an economically disadvantaged area and therefore it’s cringy and self-righteous. 

But yes, ideally they’re all Kultclubs!!!!

2. I mean I would absolutely target him with Schwabenhass tbh. By now “Schwabe” is just stand-in for “gentrifying Wessi.” If you ask East Berliners, the vast amount do not have more than a slight notion where Schwaben is and what it consists of, anyway, after all this is deep Wessi Hinterland.

So even if his particular village is located in some other meaningless backwater, it does not change the fact that he’s a Schwabe, because he wrote a text like that.

i fully admit that the bundesliga has a problem, but it's not bayern's fault. it's terrible management from other sides, it's terrible mentality from dortmund, it's just a general mess of organisation and a conflict of identity for german football- 50+1 or no 50+1? cultural identity or a glossy sporting competition?

captain reus said "trophies aren't everything" after losing a title race by two points. can you imagine neuer saying that? or schweinsteiger? or lahm, hell, anyone from bayern? no, because they'd be furious at coming so close and failing. literally how can a captain think like that?

a major metropolitan german city like hamburg has a club in the second league, with absolutely god awful management. berlin is the capital and has two very midtable average clubs. köln, flip flopping between first league to second league. frankfurt. average. meanwhile look at the premier league. london has 3 major clubs, arsenal, tottenham, chelsea (well, relatively major lol). there's Liverpool. manchester united and city, all big players in european football.

dortmund is meant to be a big competitor but fucking flops it, despite taking players from leverkusen and gladbach (without receiving half as much scorn for 'ruining other teams) to boost their depth, despite saying they aren't going to sell to bayern (clearly the source of their strife, go them!). was a selling club. schalke has had useless management despite very good revenue, also a selling club, sold all their good players (they've produced some of germanys finest footballing talent). werder... just look at the state of them this season. stuttgart won it 13 years ago. second league. kaiserslauten. third league. what progress have wolfsburg and gladbach made? rasenballsport has had to have a corporation drag it up but that just goes against the definition of german football.

i recognise other fans' frustrations and i share them. i am extremely conflicted over 50+1, as a fan i hate the idea of corporations taking over, imagine the fucking saudis taking over hertha or something, the idea makes me sick.

tbh though, before corona hit this was a very fun title race and lots of teams were in the mix. maybe it was a temporary blip because of kovac, maybe the bundesliga was genuinely gaining in competition, who knows. idk man it's 3am why am I typing this

i think i at least get a bit of your post and Julia's comments - and i agree!! well like Julia i support Schalke (lmfao) and tbh it is a relatively big club, but as she's said... most attention gets put into Goretzka and Meyer. or sometimes Kehrer, i guess since he was part of the group that won the U21s... but no one really cares about the others. look, we've got Oczipka who's been brilliant for us after coming, we've got a brilliant goalkeeper although no one really cares...

i've always moaned about Schalke only seeming to have three (now two) players, because of all the attention only 2 players get, but not the others who are equally as brilliant and amazing... meanwhile, also for other teams, as Julia's said... idk, you can see the difference in notes, definitely... when i make Hertha gifs, the most i've gotten was about 20 or 20+, i forgot. which is well i guess, a lot. as you've said, it's not about the notes though... idk, sometimes i just want other teams/players to get more exposure, because well, now big teams are even getting bigger, and honestly... people only care about them? which is a shame, considering there are a lot more in a league... Yes, that’s so true! Players get hyped for so much less (concerning both looks and talent) when they play for a big team. Some fans even lower their standards so much just to be able to admire every player in their big team D: (I don’t want to say the names but there are some “big players” and they’re simply ugly and if they didn’t play for a big team, nobody would care for their looks and that’s just okay because they don’t even need to be pretteh and they aren’t but some people are just like “omg he’s so beautiful” NO HE’S NOT)

And yes, it’s terrible DDD: We’ve got cute players on our team, we’ve got super talented players, but who cares?? Marwin gets a little bit more attention by now since he was called up for the Nati, everyone is a sucker for Iceland (me too, sure) but almost nobody recognizes the beauty that is Alfred Finnbogason (don’t wanna talk about his way of playing. It’s okay when he scores but otherwise I don’t really like it.... I’m a bitch for defending and he’s more like “oh shit, there’s another player, let’s drop the ball” I love him nevertheless ok), Daniel Baier is one of the best midfielders in Germany, without him, we wouldn’t be where we are now and so on... Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (okay, I get why nobody talks about him, his name is terrible and even though he’s part of the starting 11 each time he isn’t injured, everyone is like “???? chwalalala???” when it’s time to shout his name) complained about it, too, earlier - he said that it’s impossible to get called up for the Dutch national team when you’re playing in Augsburg (in this case, they prefer players from the big Dutch teams) and we lost so so so many players because they knew they’d never be called up for their national team if they played for Augsburg DAMN we even had players who were in some U national team even though they didn’t play at their old team but when they joined us and played every match, they were never called up again (example: Dominik Kohr. Didn’t play for Leverkusen, was part of the U NT, went to Augsburg, no natio no more) and ugh it just makes me very angry DDD:

Also the notes, yes! Sometimes i make gifs of more popular stuff. I get much more notes and those posts return all the time because someone discovered them again. Augsburg posts? Almost never. (Unless I rediscover them and reblog them...)

doing my rambling to process my feelings about the game yesterday! be warned, its long.

i did not expect the game to upset me as much as it did!! i mean, i should have known i would be sad, even if i expected the loss, but the degree to which i felt like utter shit came as a surprise. we really played that bad... it reminded me of the first derby and of all the other games this year, where there seemed to be no heart and we played with nothing (minus the last two games tbh)

the only good thing about the game was the atmosphere and fans and that too tinged with unfortunate things. apparently some of the ultras demanded the players take off their jerseys? and were like ripping them off because they don’t deserve to wear them or something? [internet not always reliable on stuff so this is my reaction to what i first saw] haha yeah like that’s gonna give the team great morale :) great idea guys! on one hand i sorta get it, we’re angry. but mostly? fuck offffff!!! like you were gone for two years, not supporting the team, and now you come back and this is what you do?? sucks ass that on top of a shit game we have to deal with people that think humiliating our players is a-okay. there’s so much damn discussion on twitter about it too and most everyone is angry and frustrated with them. i do also agree that blaming all the ultras and saying this takes away the amazing things they did during the game is going too far. but yeah we’re all just so angry and tired and sad so saying dumb things on twitter and yelling at the players is just par for the course.

what pisses me right off is a union guy saying “our fans would NEVER do this” (Idk who it was and maybe it was out of context but i want to yell about it anyway bc its an attitude i’ve seen a lot so): OI FUCK OFF! EVERY FOOTBALL CLUB HAS FANS THAT WOULD DO THIS I DONT CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god union gets to take the fucking high road because they’ve had such good seasons recently :))))) the only scandals their first team/fans have is when they get too happy and break corona restrictions :))))))))) like yeah i know union have had some pretty hard times in the past and maybe they think we’re throwing a little fit right now... ya know after three years of everyone EVERYONE stoking up expectations and of us constantly not meeting them and its the same old shit again and again :)))) i’m not defending those few ultras’ actions but to say that every fan at union is a fucking angel and would never do something stupid like that... pssshawwww you’re a deluded man.

(uh that being said i am aware that hertha fans have a certain reputation so please don’t school me on that, now is not a great time thank youuu)

anyway. that was a lot about that one ultra incident but i think that was just sitting badly with me so i had to write that out. already yelled a lot about the game being shit. so now onto: relegation!! it feels almost inevitable with the games we’ve played and w/o pál and arne to take us into the last stretch positively (mayyyybe fortheringham could help but idk bobic just doesn’t have the charisma about him at all...and magath ofc not as well LOL) how do you recover from a 1-4 derby loss in front of all the fans? and then the jersey thing... i feel like it would take a fucking miracle to bounce back from all this and we’ve used those all up.

the only way i can see us maybe coming out of this, is if fans really come together to support them. some really big fan action like we did last season. we’re the only common denominator that actually has a noticeable positive effect on this club. i bet there will be some effort, i’m curious to see what it will be. i hate being so far away but i’ll definitely do whatever i can via online means. but i can’t really see that happening. and even me... i’m finding it hard to believe we can do it again. another Cinderella story after THAT game. its rock bottom and i don’t believe we can come back up. there’s always a little part of me that believes but its not enough to make me have conviction about this team.

so i’ve come to accept our place in the 2. bundesliga lol. going to be bitter and seething about union being the one to represent berlin in the top flight but hey at least one team there can do it. ahhh its going to be so sweet when we beat them next holyyyy shit i can’t WAIT. rivalries are funny huh? because i still after all this kinda have a soft spot for them and i’m really glad to see them doing well in the bundesliga! but the desire i have to beat them and us to be better than them is so fucking strong. i want to see them SAD AND ANGRY LIKE US!!! its a funny thing! outside of our rivalry i wish them well but when we’re playing them... 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪

the thing that really bums me out is i wanted my first bundesliga game that i watched live to be hertha at olympiastadion. next year i might might might actually live in germany!! and that could have been a possibility!! i really might decide to refuse to watch live bundesliga games until hertha is back in. is that stupid? yeah...... i think the only thing that would stop me is if i’m living in hamburg and st.pauli was in the bundesliga lol. so maybe that decision will be void. but i’m just so bummed! i’ve never seen a buli game!!! and the first one i see might not be my team? just fucking sucks man :(

top 5 football matches

this is a very good question!! trouble is, i forget most every football match i’ve ever seen so let’s see how it goes

1) brazil v germany, wc 2014: yeah okay. basic answer but i just will never forget wandering the streets of montreal, trying to find the one (1) bar that showed the game. and then watching the game with a bunch of stressed, then confused, then hesitantly happy fans for germany (kinda glad there were no brazil fans there).

2) bayern v hertha, 16/8/2019: on my birthday!!! a tie with bayern on their own turf!!! legendary marko goal!!! ante čović star time!!!! the only good game of the season tbh (okay okay the berlin derby with fans was fun for the Stimmung and the one without fans was fun for the result :D)

3) usa wnt v. korea republic wnt, 3/10/2019: only real match i have seen live so has to go on the list! drove with my friend a few hours to see it and was a really fun game with a great atmosphere (for the US anyway...)

4) hertha v augsburg, 6/3/2021: this game has improved my mood 50000% and is keeping me afloat. quality game? maybe not so much. the last 5 minutes? sheer happiness. still have adrenaline running through my veins. will it stand the test of time? no idea but the only match that could beat it in pure happiness is the wc 2014 world cup so...

5) liverpool v barcelona, cl 2019 semifinal second leg: the legendary comeback at anfield. i think i was doing homework at the time and had it pulled up in one corner of my screen. needless to say, i didn’t get much done.

hello, it’s me again! writing more of my thoughts and realizations about myself!

i came to two conclusions today, that were already obvious to anyone else but i still need some reminding:

1) its ok if i like union most times. we have a special history of friendship and therefore i can still like them for as long as i feel like it! especially as a sympathizer of their anti-commercialization of football thing. that doesn’t make me any less of a hertha fan because well...my heart of hearts is blue (cheesy) plus the fact that i’m even thinking of this shows that we won the derby because after last derby i must be honest and say i despised union for some time...and therefore if my feelings of union change as the rivalry develops thats ok!

2) connected to above point, i don’t have to be like other fans to be a true fan of hertha. i love berlin, i have lived and grown up in berlin, there are some things i know about berlin/germany that a normal berlin lover would not know BUT i am not really a berliner. i don’t feel the history the way someone who grew up there and/or whose parents are there would. and therefore i’m not going to have the same attitudes an actual berliner might have. (this of course could change a bit if i live there!) i know two sets of fans: north americans who are super passionate and love berlin and really hate union...and then berliners (expat or otherwise) who are excited to see a rivalry develop and bleed blue and white through and through for their whole lives. and hey i’m not like either one of them! just a weird combo of the two. i’ve never had the same attitude about things as many people i know so tbh i’m used to this.

anyway, i feel like this could apply to any team if you make it more general. you’re a real fan the second you love your team. maybe it will take some time for you to hate the rival or maybe you like some teams that are considered rivals but you are a real fan. 

or maybe i’m the only one that has long debates and thinking in my head about this hah

ah karim...i always had mixed feelings about him as a defender but now i miss him...as a person i always thought he was cool. he honestly has a gorgeous face and that could be a smash just for that...but i’m gonna say pass. frustration lingers.

ah nik...the one hertha player everyone on this site knows and loves and my one pride on the NT <3 he made me VERY MAD at the beginning of the season and that tarnished my opinion of him. but he has an incredibly attractive face and seems chill ! i think i’d smash if the chance presented itself !

my heart grew three sizes when i saw this picture and now my eyes are all misty... he and sala have made my days so good when they were otherwise bad. his goalscoring last season incredible. he barely played this season at all. i don’t understand it. i hope and pray he comes back for us. duda...i love you (pass tho for the same reason as sala...)
