I saw a post that was saying how Eddie Munson is Catholic, and I was like damn, I post a lot of Jewish Eddie Munson content for someone who's Catholic.
But since I'm here anyways-
Ever since he was young, Eddie's favorite cultural foods were cholent (a type of stew) and challah (a type a braided bread). When Eddie got older, and stopped living with his parents, he stopped eating cultural foods.
One day, he was in a library, specifically the cookbook section because he wanted to make Steve dinner. And then he spotter it. A kosher cookbook. He flipped through it and it had so many cultural foods; bagels, Matzah, knishes, bourekas, schnitzel... Things his parents used to make.
He got the book from the library and attempted at making a few recipes. That Friday night, Steve was greeted to a spread of cholent, challah, and salami.
"This is the go-to shobbos meal!" Eddie said happily. "Look, you take the cholent and you wrap it in the salami. Or you can just dip the challah in it. Both are good. The wrapping cholent in salami is more fun," Eddie said.
Steve grinned. He was glad Eddie was sharing a part a his culture with him. And although it was different, Steve really did enjoy the food.
"Eds, thank you."
Eddie blushed. "I mean, thank you...for not being grossed out that I'm Jewish and stuff like that."
"Oh Eddie," Steve got up and walked across the table to hug him.
"Hey hey hey," Eddie said, "sit back down, Stevie. I didn't serve dessert, honey cake, yet."
Steve laughed but sat back down. Tonight was a good night.

Looking back, here’s another sign that I was always asexual, even as a kid
I’d often imagine what it would be like to be a parent, and what kind of mother I would be -- what kind of “When I was your age” stories I would tell, etc.
But I also knew that I’d want to become a parent through adoption, and even as young as eight or nine years old, I never understood why “having kids ‘of your own’” was so extra special, and somehow more “real” than adopting.
(I still don’t, TBH)
After all, passing down your culture and values, and family recipes, and inside family jokes, and all that, has a greater impact on the future, and how your ‘legacy’ will be remembered, than whether someone has a nose that shaped like yours.
And it’s only recently occurred to me that that’s because where babies (of your own) come from was never all that interesting or special to me.

Profile pic explained
If ur wondering what my profile pic means, it refers to my special connection with turtles.
As a kid, i had 2 turtles named Woody and Buzz and one time when i was feeding them Woody bit my finger and I panicked and shook my hand like crazy- sending Woody flying across the room.
He somehow survived until he and Buzz got too big for their tank and I had to let them go, but thats a different story.

I wish I was as fat as I was when I first thought I was fat
I’m sure we’ve all heard this joke before... but there is so much truth to it. Looking at some old pictures with my BFF from school recently, we wondered if we would have the obesity and eating dysfunctions we have had our whole lives if we hadn’t thought and been told we were fat when we were kids.
Like, was it a self-fulfilling prophecy? We obsessed over food and our weight so much, I feel like it became part of who we are, and that obsession with dieting and losing weight gave food more power over us than it might for someone who didn’t do that. The constant ups and downs of dieting and falling off the diets made our bodies hold onto the fat more vigorously, storing up every extra morsel for those lean times of starvation it knew were coming, compounding the problem.
Picture of me on my 12th or 13th birthday. Was I heavy?  Yeah, I guess I was, but I felt like I was a WHALE, always self-conscious about my size, always shying away from anything that would bring attention to it or me. So many opportunities and adventures lost because of it.
