i couldn’t place my finger on it but i realized this dude is like the typical pretentious man who knows nothing abt art and acts like he does

#z escribe #i sit next to two jocks in a jpn art hist course and i will say smthn abt the reading or my analysis of the works we looked at #and the amnt of times this bitch will say ''yeah u said exactly what i was going to say'' like NO u r dumb as fuck and never contribute #anything that is relevant to what we are discussing.. we were talking abt commodore perry and a painting done by western artists #it was like... actually lemme pull up the title #Carrying the ‘Gospel of God’ to the Heathen... and like.. i said that you could see how the concept of manifest destiny was strong to #americans still and when they went to forcefully open the jpn ports w gunboat diplomacy.. they were bringing christianity as well as a way #to make jpn ppl conform to western culture and assimilate #and also like.. the white savior complex ofc (altho im not sure when that concept was theorized) anyways he responds with how americans were #bringing freedom to jpn ppl.. and i'm like..............................................#the other jock doesn't say shit and is rly nice but i hate football players oh my goddddd #like get OUT of this course. everyone else is so chill and i just picked to sit in the back bcos i'm shy and this prof was intimidating #also like.. i would not b a hater if he acted new to this field but he acts like he knows everything and spews bullshit. like it's only been #a little over a week of classes w my prof and each time after class she talks to me like ''azaria you know you really have the heart and #mind of an art historian'' like that is such a HUGE compliment but then i'm seated next to two fools #long post #okay this huge rant was all to procrastinate doing my readings and writings

Miles x Gwen Karaoke Headcanons

Miles and Gwen strike me as a people who listen to a lot of different things and have music as a big part of their lives. This is reflected in the songs they sing at karaoke:

Miles likes to sing pop, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop songs with chill vibes, depending on his mood. He may also fit in some Spanish songs in there

Gwen likes singing rock/metal/punk songs that have memorable drum parts. If she's feeling particularly aggressive, she'll go for heavy metal songs with intense drumming portions

When Miles is the mood for a love song, he sings the lovey-dovey, fluffy songs (think Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me" and Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are", Michael Buble) because he's a ray of sunshine

When Gwen wants to sing about romance, she goes for the angsty romance/heartbreak songs (eg. Adele, angsty Taylor Swift songs, Evanescence, Sam Smith, Linkin Park) because she's an angst-lord

They duet a bunch of Disney songs, including "A Whole New World" from Aladdin with Miles as Aladdin and Gwen as Jasmine, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from the Lion King, "Breaking Free" from High School Musical

When they want to flex on each other, they try to one-up each other by rapping increasingly difficult hip-hop songs, including those of Eminem and Kendrick Lamar

They've listened to a whole bunch of Broadway musical songs as part of their playlists, so they may duet songs from Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Mean Girls, etc.

Older songs they duet include things like "Fly Me to the Moon" (Michael Bublé version), "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis, and songs from ABBA (eg. "Dancing Queen", "Mama Mia"), Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, etc.

They obviously go for classics like "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, "I Want It That Way" by Backstreet Boys, "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child, "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, etc.

When they want to sing raunchy stuff, they pick stuff from the 2010's including songs from Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, etc. They probably cringe at how risque and explicit the lyrics are

Random question, but what music genres do you like?

(Also, do you have any headcanons about the HTTYD gangs' music tastes?)

this is a GREAT question I'm over the moon you asked :DD

I love all genres of music really (yes even country). My favourites would probably be folk rock/pop, alt rock/pop, post rock, i love R&B and reggae (i grew up on basically only reggae). Art pop/rock are good ones too. if there's one thing I'm proud of, it's my music collection 😎 oh also I listen to film soundtracks too!

As for the gang...hmmmm that is a toughie but

Hiccup I'd say listens to chill acoustic music (but not like depressing music...most of the time) i feel like he's the type of guy who listens to music, uses it to relax or concentrate so maybe not so many hardcore songs. or something you'd hear in an indie movie soundtrack so i think indie, alternative, folk/folk pop, post rock and some new wave

I can imagine the twins listening to fun songs (bit on the nose lol) so maybe punk rock, synth pop, electro-pop something like that i think and maybe some 90s hip hop like Run DMC, surf music too (which i just found out is apparently a genre haha) maybe dance or funk too (ik its a lot but hey)

Fishlegs I feel like would listen to obviously relaxing songs as well (i love 1950s-1960s songs so I'm gonna be bias and say he likes them too) so maybe 50s and 60s pop cause i think that would go well with his garden harhar. Ballads too (idk if thats a genre) and jazz/soul/classical

Astrid also might be on the nose but rock music or any branch of it like metal/punk rock/hard rock/alt rock/brit-rock maybe some funk as well and some pop punk but secretly listens to sad indie songs 🤭

Snotlout i think would listen to similar music as Astrid but also secretly sings Katy Perry when he thinks no ones looking with also rap and hip hop

honorable mention: R&B for when they're altogether

LMAO renai circulation is some anime intro ik what it is but i don't listen to that, girly pop is 2000 or 2010 music like britney spears or katy perry taylor swift everytime i listen to it i imagine him liking it but turning it off whenever someone mentions it lmfao i do think his go to music is jazz or lo-fi because it isn't too distracting maybe rock or punk too

I can see him listening to chill music definitely! Jazz I can absolutely see, R&B too. Soul-style music as well.

Okay okay

I love the time travel fix it trope so

So it all started with the fun concept of Martin x Annabelle bc web buddies

But I’m a sucker for Jon x Martin so gotta keep that around

That’s chill, poly is fun

But I can’t see Jon x Annabelle ever working out that well

So we have an open poly situation going on where Jon and Annabelle make a truce for Martin

(This is with post season 5 Jon and Martin, for the sake of this story Annabelle can exist throughout a large length of time)

So we have a x b and b x c where a & c don’t like each other a whole bunch

But just to further complicate things a and b also have younger body doubles in roughly the same place

Then I started thinking about how to introduce them and got thinking about the ways others usually have Jon and Martin travel through time

It’s usually via the spiral (Helen), random chaos magic, or occasionally Annabelle

But then I thought about the whole the archivist vs the archive thing and thought it would be pretty cool if when Jon eventually smites certain avatars he ends up with some of their power

So that makes

Helen (spiral)

Peter (lonely)

Not-them (stranger)

Jude Perry (desolation)

Jared Hopworth (flesh)

So he can walk through walls disappear and fly (much more unique that the other guys)

Let’s turn him into a cryptid by dumping him face first onto the institute floor

Am I struggling to write this bc I have no clue how Jon and Martin get back, or how the relationship forms? Probably

I do know they live at hilltop road so that is a potential aid (spooky house with reality tear)

But that’s okay, I have just about all of season 1 to figure that all out if I play this right

(tear in reality~ yes they are always useful! :DDD imagine this: one accidentally falls int the tear, for something stupid like slipping on a rug, then another chases them through tear or powers, and the third is left an anxious/feral mess that nearly destroys reality (again) and goes full out mad scientist/occultist to come up with something to drag them back) :DDD

he doesn’t like long drives usually

sitting still for too long does not do him good

but he’s really good at finding things to do

100% will yell out lyrics to childhood pop songs

probably starts off with a bunch of taylor swift songs

loudly singing off tune “22” by taytay swift into the night sky

thank god you’re driving and not him because he gets super into it

points with both hands at you during “I DUNNO BOUT YOU”

does double peace signs going “BUT I’M FEELING TWENTY TWOOOO”

you bop your head and shake your shoulders as much as you can

You’re laughing, having just finished Call Me Maybe. He gasps, and you know he’s thought of the next song he’s playing.

“Guess what it is!”

“Hmm… It best be California Gurls. I need more KK Perry.”

He shakes his head---he’s always so expressive with his face and action, it makes you giggle a bit. Still Into You by Paramore starts blasting, and you instantly recognise the song.

Bokuto grins. “This is me to you! Right now, and in a year, and forever and ever!”

he doesn’t really mind long drives

he finds them somewhat relaxing if it’s a bit later at night without much traffic

long drives with sakusa = long, nice talks

recalling memories or talking about foods he likes and doesn’t, or about flowers he likes or everything pretty in the colour blue

you two can share music and podcasts, when usually listening to stuff would be a solo activity

Chill, alternative music plays from his phone as you talk about anything and everything. It’s kind of nice, a place where you can just let your thoughts run out loud without stressing about the outside world.

A lull comes into the conversation, a comfortable silence settling in. You hum softly to the music, and Sakusa can’t help his smile as he watches you out of the corner of his eye. You sway lightly to the music, gently bopping your head.

“You’re so pretty.”

You give a huff of amusement. “You’re cute too, silly boy. You’re like a cat in minecraft. Really cute and kind of a jerk sometimes.”

He nudges you, shaking his head and smiling. “Oh hush. You love this jerk.”

“I do. A lot.”

“Good, I’m glad we’re on the same page.”

he doesn’t really like long drives

he puts on the best jams

100% makes playlists for you and plays them during long car rides

will talk about why he likes songs if you push him to

he won’t do it directly, but he’ll point out the lyrics he likes

he’ll just mouth the words or softly sing or hum them

then you can really get what types of music he likes and it’s kinda cute

“Wait, wait, wait, can I play my music for a while?” you ask, and he hands you the aux cord in response.

“Go for it. I thought you liked my music?”

“I do! I do a lot, but I have a surprise for you,” you say, unable to contain your excitement. He can tell what it is, but he doesn’t say anything as you put on the playlist you made for him.

He smiles as the songs play one by one, and he can’t help but hum along to his favourite songs and take note of the lyrics from the new ones he particularly likes. He places a hand over yours, softly rubbing your skin.

“I love it, sweetheart. Thank you.”

You sipped your coffee, eyes smiling brightly at the man in front of you, your love of your life, your boyfriend Sungchan, who was also smiling brightly back at you. You just finished planning your trip for your 6th anniversary. You couldn't be any happier. If you could describe your life right now; perfect. A man you love, who loves you back just as much, a job, a house and most importantly your unborn child. You got to know about your pregnancy two weeks ago and it took you all of your energy to keep it a secret, until your 6th anniversary to make it more perfect and to surprise him with what he's been dreaming of for the past years. You've been planning how to tell him for the past two weeks, and you couldn't wait any longer to tell him. Thank god you only have to wait two days now, then everything will be more perfect. You didn't really plan anything big... Just thought of surprising him with a small box in a chill cuddly night, which has yellow small baby shoes in them.

You chuckle looking at the extra cute small shoes in front of you, remembering your promise you made when you got your matching tattoos, you promised to have your love for each other as permanent as your tattoos and to be there for each other, in good and bad. You had so much to tell him. You wanted to cuddle with him in your warm villa house and to talk about the past 6 years you've spent together. You were very excited. All you could do is text and call each other. I mean what's the problem with it if you'll be spending the next whole week in each other's arms? You were patient, for you, him and your baby.

Finally D-day! You had planned to meet your boyfriend first in a restaurant and then go together by the car to your villa house. It was a Chilly night, sky very clear, where you could see the bright stars. The road filled with cars and people, such a normal night, but still beautiful.

You waited for him outside the restaurant, checking the time every now and then. After 15 minutes of waiting, you finally saw your love of your life. Oh how much you missed his warm lovable embrace. Oh how much you wanted to kiss his tasty, sweet soft lips. Oh how much the night became more beautiful just when you saw him. You smiled and waved at him. He was wearing a black coat with such a nice suit under it, his hands holding a beautiful combination of red and white flowers. You gave each other a bright lovable smile. He was waiting for the lights to turn green for him to walk to you. And once they turned green, he walked towards you, a little too fast. He was excited, you chuckles. Your eyes shining with excitement and love. You were just very in love with each other. You found your world, life, future and home in each other's eyes.

He was getting closer and closer, oh how much your heart was beating. With every step he was taking, you heart was beating faster and faster. As if it was only beating for him, and it was. Your heart, and the smaller heart inside you, both were beating for this amazing man.

He was close, finally you'll have him in your arms, finally. Just when you heard people screaming. But you were so hooked up with his eyes and presence, you didn't care about others. As if all your senses only focused on Sungchan and only him.

In a blink of an eye, you saw your man on the ground after getting hit by a car. Everything went so fast that all you saw next is Sungchan on the ground, the flowers next to him, which were once white, turning red. A bloody kind of red. Your world stopped, you ran to him. You held his body. Not believing your eyes.

"S-Sungchan-"

You could barely talk

"Ba-baby"

He tried to talk

Your eyes were blurry with the amount of tears it held. Your shaky hands holding his face, close to yours. His eyes still, looked so lovable, warm and clear.

"M-My Ang-el"

He moved his hand to hold your cheek, wiping your tears

"My love"

You cried

"I-I really was-s excited t-to see y-your beautiful f-face"

His tears falling, mixing with the blood

"i m-missed you, Sungchan"

"I missed y-you to-o, y/n"

He smiled, his beautiful smile

"please, p-please stay with me, i-ill call the a-ambulance hold up"

Your shaky hands left his face and held your phone, trying to dial 911

"y/n, baby"

Sungchan held your hands, bringing them to him, leaving the dispatcher confused on the other line, not receiving any answers from the caller.

"Sungchan let me c-call them"

He shook his head

"Y/n baby... I n-never ever regretted b-being with y-you, I'm h-happy i m-met you"

You started sobbing, holding his face

He continued

"i-if i was to be born again i-I'd choose you, again and a-again, you are m-my life y/n"

"Sungchan s-stop talking! Y-you're tiring yourself more, s-stay still the the ambulance c-comes" you screamed at the people surrounding you, for them to call the ambulance.

Sungchan held your face, turning it down to look at him

"I-i w-wanted to-o a-ask you to b-be mine t-today" you only cried harder, your hands clenching around his face, not willing to let him go anytime sooner

"Su-sungchan, please s-stay, for me and for o-our b-baby"

He looked shocked, now he's crying harder, the blood that he's bleeding is now getting slower and slower, its ending soon.

"Y/n t-thank y-you for b-being there for m-me an—d for m-making me h-happy even in m-my last m-moment" his tear dropped

"do-n't s-say that! Y-you're staying a-alive Sungchan! I-i still h-have many things to s-say to y-you! R-remember o-our promise? Y-you can't l-leave me now... P-please"

"you'll b-be an am-amazing mother y/n" he whispered

"baby, i-in another life, w-would you be my g-girl too?" he asked, his eyes hopeful.

"Sungchan y-yes, I'll forever b-be yours and y-you'll forever b-be mine"

"I l-love you, Y/n... S-sorry—" his last tear fell, his eyes closed, breath stopped, hands fell from your cheeks, his body stilled.

"I-i l-love you t—oo"

You looked at your world's lifeless body on the ground. Looking around him, taking in this moment, trying to figure out if it's real or not. You looked at the now soaked in blood flowers, next to them a little box, your shaky hands reached out to it and opened it. It revealed a beautiful ring, with words "be my wife" on the upper side of the box.

You lost yourself. Looking at your lifeless man. You held his body close to yours, screaming and crying. How are you supposed to continue living without your oxygen? Without the reason for your heart to beat for? Without him? You hugged him, hearing the sirens of the ambulance.

"in another life, I'll be yours and you'll stay with me" you kissed his forehead before the medical technicians pulled you away from him. You saw them giving him cpr, but with no use, he's now covered by white material and taken away from you.
