oh also mcyttwt users make sure to take advantage of the blocked/filtered tags feature. this is in your settings, and you can block crit, neg, or any triggers you just don’t want to see on your dashboard, and it’ll filter the post for you. this is completely private and only helps to make your tumblr experience better.

MAKE SURE NOT TO CENSOR THESE WHEN YOU’RE BLOCKING THE TAG. the blocked tag feature will block these tags EXACTLY and not things similar to them (for instance if you block #self h/rm, it won’t block posts tagged with #self harm.)

so, if you really want to make sure you don’t see anything on a particular subject you’ll also want to block all variations of a tag. this can mean if you want to block #self harm, you should block: #self harm, #self harm tw, #tw self harm, #self harm cw, #cw self harm, #// self harm, #self harm //, #tw sh, #cw sh, etc.

i know it’s tedious, but it’s worth it to take a little time and filter out what you need to. and there’s no shame to what you block. crit of a character you like? go ahead. a ship you just don’t want to see? knock yourself out.

oftentimes, if someone didn’t tag something (trigger/content warning wise) that you think should be, you can ask them to tag it and they most likely will (be polite!) but if you go to a blog centered around a certain character, and ask them to tag any mention of that character, they may just decline and that’s okay! just scroll past their content or even block them entirely if you don’t want to interact with them.

i think twitter has different social ideas around blocking, but here you can block anyone for just about anything and no one really gives a shit. block someone for making takes you don’t like, block someone for filling maintags with unrelated content, most times people block others they haven’t even interacted with, and it’s fine.

block what you need to, reblog content you like (especially from artists), change your profile picture from the default ones, write in the tags, DON’T put mcyt posts in the #minecraft of #mineblr tags, and you’ll be just fine.

okay so warnings for mentions of the drituation, the stuff happening with wil and q and all the terrible things that come with it including suicide mentions

mcyttwt has turned fandom into a cult and I am not even joking anymore. it requires people to be invested in it full time, spend a lot of time and energy on it to the point of exhaustion (which is an actual cult leader thing to do to make people easier to manipulate) and causes everyone high levels of stress while also making everyone be the cop so that everyone behaves according to a very puritan doctrine.

we have seen it time and time again and the worst of it that I was emotionally still present for was the drituation when I saw people mass deactivate and half of my dash was in a massive panic talking about killing themselves because of what happened. it was a massive downward spiral and I see it becoming A Trend, especially since we had two messed up situations happen back to back now.

there is a really unhealthy trend of people connecting their whole identities to fandom and the One White Boy they happen to be watching the most, oftentimes it's a fandom they found when they were at a very low point (again, this is a cult recruiting technique. while I am not saying that people joining fandoms when feeling low is a cult thing, the fact that people enter a fandom that is so emotionally taxing while also fully investing themselves into this one thing does oftentimes have similar results) - there is obviously the cult of purity and perfection and "unproblematicness" involved in all this, from ships through behaviour checks and content that we are allowed to create and consume. it's really, really unhealthy in so many ways because if something big happens, like with the stuff about W being introduced, people tend to fall apart because they intertwined their lives so thoroughly with the figures they worship with a puritan mindset they feel like they lost purpose. there are people who try to scrub Years of their lives off the internet (and sometimes even delete off their hard drives or destroy items tied to it IRL) because their fave CC happened to do something shitty. which is a really scary thing to even think about.

I'm genuinely getting the feeling that people are so deep in denial (both W fans before W admitted to everything, and now with qolos being in denial of Q fucking up big time) BECAUSE they tied their whole lives with the celebrity they love so much. combined with the fact that mcyttwt has a massive purity issue, admititing that their "figure of worship" did something bad, which in their puritan eyes is an irredeemable sin, their lives are pointless, all they ever did was pointless, and by supporting someone who was fucking them over and hurting others they are taking on the blame like it's the primordial sin.

so to keep themselves from admitting that people Can fuck up and some of them Do fuck up, be it intentional or not, Especially when they see such things as Irredeemable, they just keep lying to themselves while wrapping it up in woke language, because the purity was always packaged in leftist language without any of them actually examining what any of those words mean.

tl;dr the fandom is a cult and I am worried because it is actively harming people's wellbeings

fens is my close friend and so is the “weirdo,” who is his brother, by the way. they are my friends outside of mcyt as a fandom, and i had/have no clue what they’re writing most of the time, unless they ask me to read it, since i’m not interested in or involved in mcyt as a fandom anymore.

i have a lot of issues with mcyttwt as a whole and the way they approach boundaries. especially because 99% of the time, a content creator wouldn’t see a work that’s “boundary breaking” unless it’s amplified by these asinine, useless witch hunts. the fact that fans feel entitled to know everything that bothers a content creator, is absurd. and an invasion of privacy.

so, please, for future reference, don’t come into the inbox of a minor — since you seem to be very concerned about the well-being of real-life minors, who are one in the same with the fictional characters they portray, but oh wait! all dsmp content creators are adults now! — and leave a detailed description of smut that i had no idea existed, nor did i want to know existed. i am not dropping friends i’ve had for the better part of two years because puriteens don’t know the difference between fiction and reality, or have a grasp on issues that genuinely matter.

I've always wondered, what do you think of dark sbi fics? I've seen people say that they are very subtle poppy fics, and I wonder what you guys think about that. Are the dark sbi fics poppy??

i think that now a days, most problematic fanfics are very cushy. if you want darker content, definitely scroll down in the sbi ship fics. usually the older the content the darker it is, which supported the whole myth of “dark sbi fics are actually just poppy fics” thing that went around in the early days (poppytwt community was an absolute slaughter house for all dsmp members in 2020, you can find pretty much anything dark)

i don’t think all dark sbi fics are inherently poppy. poppy is more so actively and positively shipping people, while a trauma fic that mentions it without actively describing a rape scene and/or pursuing a romantic relationship between a minor and adult is not poppy work (in my personal opinion!)

i believe the criteria for a dark sbi fic to be considered poppy is to have 3+ of these boxes checked off:

actively ships the adult x minor throughout the story

writes an explicit rape scene

describes the minor and adult’s abusive relationship in a “positive” light (ie. the minor enjoying it when the adult does something to them against their will)

claims it’s a poppy fic

op might say things like “oh why do i kinda wanna write them both a happy ending together lol” in the end notes after the adult rapes minor 😭 (seen this before in a very explicitly poppy “dark sbi” fic intended for regular mcyttwt)

personally i love dark sbi fics. i typically prefer most of my fics to be extra dark because i love seeing the writing in it and it just hits diff. i don’t have many saved but i know for a fact there’s a lot of dark sbi fics around outside and inside poppytwt.

once again, i don’t speak for all of poppytwt though so people may have different opinions!

I think people left out that InTheLittleWood’s offensive tweets from 10 years ago were only brought up after dream stans were mad at him for, admittedly, being a bad sport during mcc. This, and, idk if you saw, but Sneegsnag’s offensive tweets from like 2014 were brought after mcyttwt got mad at him for being upset about unseasoned shrimp. Another cc showed support for Dream and, in response, someone who didn’t like him (I don’t think they’re an full on anti) looked through her tweets and found that she said the r slur when she was 14.

This seems to be sort of a pattern of digging through someone’s old tweets and/or past internet footprint, purposefully looking for slurs or names of minorities, etc, and seeing if they’ve said anything bad as a reaction to being mad at the cc for something else.

Obviously it still holds that, once revealed, ccs should apologize, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the fandom on twt only seems to care about minority issues if they can bring them up when a cc is already in hot water. On the other hand, i guess idk when a better time to bring them up would be if they want to bring it up at all. Thoughts?

In general, there's never a good time to talk about a cc being bigoted or saying something fucked up etc bc there's always gonna be something going on and the right time will never come.

While I do think specifically going through someone's twitter account to see if they said a slur 7 years ago is questionable at best, in some cases, like in dreams, it shows us there's a pattern as these things and actions never really went away. While with others it's just. Dragging up behaviour that hasn't been repeated in years.

I do personally prefer knowing over being oblivious in situations like these though and I think like. Even if the people who mention these things might not have the best of intentions, it doesn't change the fact that they are just presenting things that those ccs did and nothing else.

On the other hand, if you're gonna complain about "cancel culture" like JoJo did, even if that isn't a big impactful thing and dream hasn't actually had to live with the consequences of his racist actions ever maybe you should make sure you know what the fuck is going on and what you're defending before you do. And like idk maybe shut the fuck up if you see a guy defending having a racist Reddit account at the age of 19 and he's downplaying by saying he was 15 and just straight up lying.
