Spoilers below! Don’t read if you don’t want to be spoiled!
I’ve seen a few posts saying that Maria and Talos have to be alive because Cobie Smulders and Ben Mendelsohn are both in The Marvels.
Filming for The Marvels began in 2021 and was completed the same year. It was originally supposed to be released July 8, 2022 but was delayed until November 11, 2022. It was delayed again from November to February 11, 2023, then to July 28, 2023, and then finally to November 10, 2023.
Since The Marvels was originally supposed to be released before Secret Invasion, it’s safe to say Cobie and Ben are in it because the events in The Marvels take place before the events of Secret Invasion.

Hi, everyone! This is Lisa @devildears here on tumblr. As a fellow writer of Stucky fanfiction and mcu meta posts, I’ve started to create a chronological timeline to keep track of important dates as they are presented in the MCU.
As we all know, the MCU has never cared to fact check their own timeline or make sure it canonically aligns with the many movies and shows coming out. So, I figured, why not do it ourselves?
It won’t be easy to get a date for everything because a lot are only shown in brief shots of prop material and there’s often conflicting info (both for real life historical events and within the MCU). I still hope that we can come together as a fandom to see what information we have confirmed individually and share with the class though.
I’ve read so much brilliant MCU meta and fanfiction that has been incredibly well researched! I’m sure we can figure it out and help our much appreciated content creators. A chronologically organized timeline for Steve and Bucky’s life that can be looked up in a few minutes would certainly benefit us all. Please consider helping out by sending in relevant links as well as confirmed or assumed dates / events!
A source that’s been really helpful for me personally is this one: https://marvelcinematicuniverse.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline Some dates will be taken straight from this site but it would be best to have something like screen caps and other info that matches up to confirm them.
I’ll also reblog more in depth meta posts concerning the timeline that are interesting to consider.
At this point, I’m not done figuring out a good layout for the page yet which allows us to add and sort dates with additional media and source links without losing anything but we’ll get there.
Until then, please follow the project. Don’t hesitate to send in your own info already & help flesh out a sensible timeline!

If future MCU projects are assumed to be set after the Guardians holiday special, they’re set in 2026.
Reverse snap is in 2023 - Peter goes back to school presumably for Fall semester
Far from Home takes place summer 2024 and No Way Home takes place throughout the Fall 2024 semester
No Way Home and Hawkeye both end in Christmas 2024.
Meaning the Holiday Special takes place a year later, in December 2025.

Marvel Timeline – Movies & Shows in Chronological Order
Tumblr media
Over 10 years ago, the Marvel Cinematic Universe started with one man, a metal suit of armor, and an unconventional self-rescue.
But the earliest dates and storyline of the Marvel timeline predate the heady days of 2008.
So, we looked into the timeline to work out how to watch all MCU movies and TV series (including the Netflix and Disney Plus shows) in chronological order (with dates).
It’s not perfect, as some movies and shows in this popular saga have flash-forwards and confusing post-credit scenes, while others span long gaps of time.
But based on how the bulk of them take place, we’ve prepared an MCU timeline starting with Captain America: The First Avenger all the way to The Marvels.
1. Captain America: The First Avenger
Takes place: 1943-1945
If you truly want to watch these Marvel movies and series in story order, start with The First Avenger.
At the height of the Second World War, Hydra, the scientific arm of the Third Reich has gone rogue with plans to usurp Germany and take over the world. The only thing standing in the way of the sinister superman Red Skull is Steven Rogers – an American patriot who takes an experimental procedure to become a super-soldier.
The film’s post-credit scene might feature an Avengers trailer, but according to the chronological timeline, those events don’t occur until years later…
2. One-Shot: Agent Carter
Takes place: 1944
Released as part of the Iron Man 3 DVD in 2013 and set one year after the incredible events of The First Avenger, this fourth ‘One-Shot’ installment follows the struggles of Peggy Carter at the Strategic Scientific Reserve, tackling sexism and setbacks to uncover the mysterious serum known as the Zodiac.

Okay Moon Knight timeline time apparently
The vague timeline I got in my Jake drabble was
2012 -> The Avengers- > they're 25. Marc already works as a mercenary but Khonshu's temple hasn't happened yet
2015 -> AofU -> they're 28. Khonshu's temple has happened. Maybe a few months earlier. Jake learns about Khonshu's existence. Marc is also looking for Layla/just met her.
2016 -> Cap 3 Civil War -> They're 29. I set it in London, Marc and Layla have started dating? They probably aren't living in London yet, at least not together.
INF W/ENDGAME-> 2018 (+ 5)- 2023 -> They're 31 to 36. We know they didn't blip.
Far From Home -> summer 2024 (since they had to redo their year) -> The Marc system are definitely living in London, and Marc & Layla are living together. For how long? Not sure. Maybe they got married/moved-in somewhere during those 5 gap years, or slightly before Infinity War.
Okay, so. We didn't get any month date either within the show right?
So the earliest I could put Moon Knight while still making sense within the MCU is...fall 2024. So somewhere right before or during or right after No Way Home. So it'd make them...37
Damn it.
[Ookay, teeechnically we could also put Moon Knight during 2023 i.e a few months after everyone got back. That just means 36. I guess that'd work.]
So for the Layla x Marc timeline we could say, they met Marc was 28. Moved in 30? Got Married 31? So I'd put their wedding right before Infinity War, just because I want their wedding to be as happy as it could be. So no 50% of the guests missing thanks.
Means they've been married for 6 to 8 years depending on the age you pick for them.
Hey right in the range I wanted! Wooh!
So they've known each other for max 9 years. Aight that works with me.
And Khonshu is with Marc foooor exactly 10 years at the most.
Yay it all fits with my headcanon! Except they're 36 not 38
Now, the last question left that I keep wondering but still haven't looked up yet is, how old is Layla? How many years difference do they have ?

Chapters: 3/30 Fandom: X-Men - All Media Types, X-Men (Movieverse), X-Men (Comicverse), X-Men: First Class (Comics), Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America (Movies), Agent Carter (TV) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Relationships: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier Characters: Raven | Mystique, Peggy Carter, Erik Lehnsherr, Charles Xavier Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Post WW2, Teenagers, Teen Angst, Psychological Trauma, Experimentation, Friendship, Judaism, long story, plot heavy, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Emotional Baggage Summary:
The year is 1949. A young Charles Xavier begs Peggy Carter to save his sister's life, and soon he finds himself trapped inside a secret base with a boy who can manipulate metal and insists that they both have powers.
A very well documented story about growing up, trauma, found family, defying societal norms, and changing the world.   ---
Erik forces Charles to face the fact that he's just as human as he and Raven are. The good news is that he's not mad. The bad news, he's now trapped in Shield with the other mutants.
-------------
He sat on the bed for a few seconds, the voices overwhelming. Erik's voice joined the others, sharp and bright and - better. I wonder if they will give us newspapers, Charles thought.
"They let us have books, yes. Newspapers too, but there are usually pages missing." Erik answered as he paced the small bedroom, looking at Charles sharply.
"Wow, you're a telepath as well?"
Erik blinked at him owlishly, shaking his head a few times and resisting the urge to curse under his breath at the innocence in the eyes of the boy. He didn't know. He was not feigning ignorance, he was ignorant of it. "No, I'm not. You are."
"You have a pretty odd sense of humor, you know that?" His stomach rumbled, and he stood up, a sheepish expression on his face. "Do they feed us here, or they hope our powers will make us absorb energy from the air?"
"So you admit you have them?" Erik asked dryly as he threw an arm around Charles's shoulder.

So funny story!
Did you know?
It was November 18th when Thor and Loki was intercepted by Stephen when coming to Earth to get Odin!
Fun fact that is also his birthday!
Just thought that was kinda neat information!
The things you learn when deep diving in the timeline! I was cross referencing stuff and I was like hold up!!!

“Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline” Announced
Tumblr media
Marvel Comics and DK, a division of Penguin Random House, have announced Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, which should answer some questions about the MCU and how things from the movies and streaming series fit together. The guide is written by Anthony Breznican, Amy Ratcliffe, and Rebecca Theodore-Vachon. The book also contains a forward by Kevin Feige.
“Follow the entire story of the MCU from the Big Bang to the Blip and beyond. Along the way, learn more about the evolution of the Iron Man armors, the hunt for the Infinity Stones, and the formation of The Multiverse. Want to know how many times aliens have invaded Earth, or the complete history of Cap’s shield? Look no further!” (Marvel Comics)
Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline goes on sale in September 2023.

hello! you may have already answered this, but i just now found the steve and bucky timeline you have made (you've done a wonderful job and its very helpful. if only someone would do that with the entire mcu :/). Anyways, after bucky fell off the train and was captured by hydra, do we know if he was kept on ice until the brainwashing began or if he was just kept imprisoned? I had always assumed that the brainwashing began immediately after he was found post train fall?
Thank you so much! I'm sorry it took me so long to reply! I've been working on that part of the timeline (it is so confusing), but hopefully, I've managed to explain the order of events. Please check out the updated page! In short, Bucky fell from the train on February 1, 1945. He was then found by Soviet soldiers who were sympathetic to Hydra and taken captive not long after that. It is unclear what they did with Bucky until he met Zola again. They probably put him on ice. We know from Agent Carter and other references that Zola didn't get out of prison until August 13, 1949. He wasn't picking Bucky up right away, either. First, he got an official pardon and integrated himself into SHIELD. In August 1950, he finally traveled to the Soviet facility where Bucky was held. Zola operated on Bucky sometime between August 1950 and 1951. You can see Bucky's stump on the operation table; the wound looks relatively fresh, which would fit the theory that he had been cryogenically frozen since his fall. In the CATWS flashback, Zola still calls Bucky "Sergeant Barnes." Bucky also tries to fight back, which tells us that his mind and spirit are not fully broken yet, even after the operation. Zola had learned mind control in prison from one Dr. Johann Fennhoff, whom he met there in May 1946. Fenhoff had previously established the so-called Faustus method which includes the victim being asked if they are ready to comply, to which they respond with "happy to comply." It is possible that some of the Soviets he worked with knew about the method or had independently tried to brainwash Bucky before 1950 because his trigger words are in Russian, but I wouldn't count on it. Between August 1950 and June 1951, at the latest, Bucky gets brainwashed by Zola into becoming the Winter Soldier. We know this because TFATWS references a fight with Isiah Bradley in South Korea during the Korean War where Bucky already had the metal arm. The US Army sends Isiah over there specifically to deal with the Winter Soldier for killing their men. Considering that, June could already be a bit late for our brainwashing timeframe. Bucky keeps getting frozen and brainwashed over the years, first by Zola and the Soviets / the Red Room (Leviathan, which was led by Fennhoff before he was apprehended, was a Red Room predecessor) and then later exclusively by Hydra and their Americans.

So what exactly is the MCU trying to say about Peggy’s love life? Let me walk you through this timeline here.
(Spoilers for pretty much anything that’s involved Peggy)
Tumblr media
1945 - She loses Steve.
Tumblr media
1946 - Symbolically let’s go of Steve by dumping his super blood in the Hudson (long story).
Tumblr media
Early 1947 - She ends her series by getting together with Daniel in Los Angeles.
Tumblr media
1947 - Three months later in the Agent Carter one-shot, she’s back in New York and still pining over Steve? (It says it’s set a year after TFA, which ends about Spring 1945, but it’s definitely set after Agent Carter season 2 because Jack isn’t the New York chief and she leaves the SSR. In the short it sounds like she’s worked there for three months with no assignment, which is false, but maybe she means it’s been three months since the new chief took over.)
Tumblr media
1949 branching off into an alternate timeline - Apparently single and not over Steve
Tumblr media
1953 back in the main timeline - Married. It’s totally possible she met and married a guy in four years (or married Sousa or even Jason - I looked it up and interracial marriage was legal in NY and NJ, however Jason was a Navy engineer so it’s less likely that she’s describing him here). That’s still a fairly quick turnaround given that she doesn’t seem like a newlywed here. To be fair, she’s very professional, so she could have tied the knot yesterday for all we know.
Tumblr media
1970 - Still keeping a picture of Steve on her desk, however.
Like okay, we have a female character introduced as a love interest and of course the story can’t keep referring back to her romantic life. But it’s like there’s zero conversation as to what to do with that plot thread. Are we to assume she was just in love with another man the whole time she was married? That’s… a little unfair.
