God the moment in TDW when Frigga asks Loki "Then am I not your mother?" is so fucking painful and sad.

Like Loki was hopeful that he still had Frigga as a mother, that he still had some family that actually loved him, that she was still the good person he always thought she was, but then she starts to manipulate him like Odin, defending Odin's actions, and basically saying "you can either have both of us or neither of us". And he decides that he's not taking it anymore, he already took enough from Odin, he's not taking it from her. So, he responds, realizing that he has no one left, "you're not".

And oh my god just seeing the realization on his face makes me cry

Nurse: Yes, the baby is in perfect health, but Ah- there is one problem.

Odin: Well, what is it?

Nurse: We can’t tell the child’s gender.

Odin: Nonsense, let me see the baby.

Frigga: Did you not check when you brought it here?

Odin: I had other things on my mind.

Frigga: Of course

Odin: See, look. That is definitely a boy.

Nurse: But see-

Frigga: Oh. Is that ah- Is that normal? Where the child is from, I mean.

Nurse: I have no idea because someone won’t tell me where he received the child.

Odin: How about we just let the child decide?

Frigga: Odin, the baby can’t speak at its age yet.

Odin: Ah. Well, we can just choose one now and let the child decide later.

Frigga: Wonderful idea and since I’m doing the child rearing I get to choose-

Odin: Wha-

[Cut to a few centuries later]

Loki: I’m going to be a girl today.

Odin and Frigga who knew this day would come: Of course. Just know that we will always accept you as you are.

Loki: Tomorrow I’m going to be a snake!

Odin and Frigga:

Thor: But Loki, if you’re a snake, then you won’t have any arms! How will you spar with us tomorrow!

Loki: Ah, that is a good point. I’ll just be a snake with legs then. And very pointy teeth.

Thor: Like a crocodile!

Loki: Yes, exactly! I’m going to be a crocodile tomorrow!

Odin: Okay but are you going to be a boy or girl crocodile?

Loki: Crocodiles don’t have genders, silly.

Odin: Ah, yes. My mistake.

Frigga: Yes they do-

Loki: ANYWAYS

Also:

Thor: Now we’re going to play valkries today.

Sif: You can’t play valkries because you’re not a girl. Only girls can be valkries.

Thor:

Sif: Loki can though. But only part time because he’s only a girl sometimes.

Loki, who has never been interested in the valkrie but is now about to make it their entire personality just to spite Thor: I could be a girl all the time.

Hc: baby Loki was obsessed with jam. One of the few sweet things on Asgard is jam and little baby Loki was obsessed with it.

he'd organise heists with Thor, who could reach the jam on the top shelf, to steal a jar so that Loki could dig his little hands in there and scoop handfuls into his mouth.

He was very messy.

Did anyone ever think about if Thor and Loki had the typical sibling arguments as children?

Like, did Thor ever go “I’m the oldest one, so I get to do this”

Did something like this ever happen:

Child Thor: you know. You’re the only one with black hair in our family, so you’re adopted

Little Loki: no, I’m not!

Thor: yes, you are!

Tears start forming in Loki’s eyes and he angrily runs to the room where Frigga and Odin are, Thor running behind him.

Loki, with angry tears in his eyes: Mother, Father, am I adopted?

Odin and Frigga share a look and Frigga smiles her usual comforting smile and asks “What is the reason for this question?”

Loki: Thor said I must be adopted because I’m the only one with black hair

And Odin just starts sweating because this isn’t how he planned to tell Loki. (I think he wasn’t planning on telling him in the first place.)

So Odin just goes: do not listen to your brother’s words, Loki. Both of you are our sons.

Perfectly dodging the allegations without confirming or denying anything. Great job, Odin!

Thor: then why does he have black hair?

And he doesn’t get a clear answer because Odin just goes: why do you have blond hair?

So Thor just has to live with two questions in his mind until the truth is finally revealed several centuries later

No, I don't think you guys understand. I lay awake at night thinking about the finale. I think about it all. the. time. Pun intended. I cannot sleep without thinking about it. I wake up thinking about being burdened with glorious purpose. I can hardly go hours between these thoughts. After SEVEN MOVIES and TWELVE episodes, he is ACTUALLY burdened with glorious purpose.

ONE OF LOKI'S FIRST LINES IS "it'll come, in time" AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF IT WAS RIGHT AFTER THOR SAID: "this was to be my day of triumph"

Isn't that the PINNACLE of Loki's arc. It's like he is talking to HIMSELF.

For DECADES he tried to lay claim to a throne, and it came. But it took TIMEEEE

"Both of you were born to be king."

You ever think about the fear Loki must have felt after going to Jotunheim that first time? Before he confronted Odin? That spike of anxiety and fear that must've rolled through him as he watched his skin turn blue? You ever think about what must've been going through his mind? His mind must've been racing, heart hammering in his chest as he tried to push it away and come up with another explanation in his mind for what happened, for what he saw. Of course, none made any sense. Of course, they didn't. There was really only one true explanation and the feeling of abdolute dread he would get at that thought. That feeling of absolute dread as the thought that he was one of *them*, a monster, went through his mind. Loki would now think he understands why he's always been treated differently, why he was always the lesser son and he'd think that he was never truly loved. The absolute burning hatred towards himself that would swelter up inside of him because he was taught all his life that the Jotunns, the Frost Giants, were bloodthirsty monsters, that there was nothing redeemable about them, that they were meant for nothing more than to meet the end of a blade. "The monster parents tell their children about at night." And he was one of them. And in the end, in a mad, desperate scramble for power, for control, for *love*, he tried to do what he was taught. To make his father proud. To make up for what he was maybe. To earn that love he so desperately wanted, needed because more than anything he is lonely and he hates it. Hates how long the feeling has been with him, how much it's grown since finding out his true heritage. But in the end he was met with disapproval. And all that loneliness, and anger, and hatred, all that sadness was too much. And so, he let go. He fell into the void with the intention of never coming back. You ever think about that?

hiya kurt! i’m so glad you sent this in, mama frigga is my absolute beloved and i really want to write more of her. sorry this took me awhile to get to!

loki calls her mama or mummy

she is the only one loki lets brush and braid his hair

she sings lullabies from vanaheim that never fails to put her baby to sleep (babies if you count thor as a child)

she is the only one who can successfully scold odin

she always watches how much loki eats at feasts to make sure he’s having enough. thor hardly needs the same attention…

loki and thor are the only ones allowed in her boudoir, loki spends a lot of his time there

she loves to read! that’s where loki found his own love for books

she’ll brave winter just so loki can spend some time outside without worrying about the heat

her and loki love to go to a creek at the edge of the forest, thor comes along sometimes too. they’ve done it since the boys were toddlers

she is the only one who can truly calm loki down when he gets anxious

loki will nap in her and odin’s bed during the day, sometimes

loki loves her kisses < 3

I don’t think this part of Thor’s journey in Endgame gets talked about enough.

When she says “you’re not the Thor I know.”

She already knows, she isn’t apart of his future.

He is truly at his lowest, ever. In his head he feels like failed. What’s the point of winning if in the end he’s lost every one he’s ever loved?

But even though he failed at who he thought he was supposed to be, the hero, the man he thought he was supposed to be, he is still just as worthy. Just cause you fail, it doesn’t make you any less worthy of good things.

She then says “oh it just takes a second.” As Thor calls out to Mijolnir.

which shows that even after seeing her son in such a state she never once doubted his worthiness, so neither should he.
