I was ruminating on the Old Order of the Stone and I started to wonder... did they really need the command block? I mean, they say they were a bunch of nobodies before the command block, and that's likely true. But... we see them after that. Even without the command block, Ivor can make good potions and enchantments, Ellegaard can make good redstone machinery, and Magnus can still make big explosions without being killed. We don't really get to see what Gabriel can do because he's compromised for the entire story no matter who you choose to save in Episode 1. But we do see him, briefly, successfully fending off one of the Witherstorm's tentacles in his fortress in Episode 1. Also, Gabriel tells Jesse to go find the rest of the Order and get their help. So either Gabriel has convinced himself that they really are the heroes they tell everyone they are, or he knows they really, truly do have useful skills. (And they do have useful skills, the reason why they're no help in the battle is because they're too cowardly to actually fight for most of it.) And in Season 2, Ivor says he's heard that Gabriel is doing "wandering warrior" things. If he really couldn't fight, then

Soren likely built some of the stuff in the End after Ivor stole the command block from him, so it's likely he can still build well. After all, how much can a command block really help you with design? Construction, yes it can build the whole thing for you, but you still have to design it yourself.

So how much did they really need the command block? It made them stronger and faster, but you can't completely falsify skills like that. So was it really impossible for them to have done those expeditions without the command block? Is it possible that they had what it took for most of it (not including the Ender Dragon), but Soren lacked confidence in them and in himself? And in his fear started to use the command block? And then a paranoia arose, that they weren't good enough without the command block, causing him to use it more and more, breaking his friends' trust more and more.

Maybe they weren't good enough without the command block for the expeditions that they did. And they definitely weren't ready for the Ender Dragon. But maybe all they needed was more training and preparation. Maybe they could have done other great things, like build those Nether railroads that they did. Or those fortresses and temples in the Overworld.

The idea that they're all complete frauds with no talent who lied and cheated their way into fame is interesting, and is the story intended to be told. But I like the idea that they weren't as unskilled as Soren thinks they are and were and Soren used the command block, lied to his friends, for no real reason. That, maybe if Soren just had a bit more trust in his friends, was just a bit more honest with them, none of this would have happened. And they could have really been heroes.

Some xaragaard headcannons i’ve written down over the course of like a few months…

- Ellegaard develops a habit of gently tracing her fingers along Xara’s facial/body scars whenever she’s anxious, bored, etc. Xara loves it and finds it relaxing

- I draw Ellie with moles all over her body so what about Xara trying (and succeeding) to kiss all of them

- Xara draws for Ellie sometimes, whether it’s a portrait or her favorite flower or something. Ellie keeps every single drawing in a little journal she can look through

- Xara doesn’t remember when her spawn day is, so Ellie makes one up for her on the spot

- “let’s kiss without touching and see who gives in first” Xara loses

- Xara’s had a few flings back in the institute that didn’t really impact her that much, but everything feels so different with Ellie in a good way that she gets very confused and asks Jesse wtf is going on and they’re just like “dude you’re so in love wtf”

- Ellegaard has only let 2 people ever call her Ellie; Magnus and Xara, and she wants to keep it that way until the end of time. (she only let Magnus slide bc his annoying ass wouldn’t care anyway)

- Ellie works on her redstone contraptions until the stupid o’clock hours and passes out halfway through. Xara takes her to bed and wipes off any redstone dust on her gloves/hands, and also any makeup she might have had on for the day

- Xara explaining to Ellie how she used to be an admin thinking she’ll be intimidated but Ellie is genuinely interested and lowkey falls in love with Xara more

- when Xara finds out Ellie’s favorite food is bread she learns how to make it for her :))

- Olivia is pretty much Xara and Ellie’s non-bio kid. Ellie first kinda took Olivia under her wing after the witherstorm arc and once Xara got to know Olivia better they just sort of shared custody of her from then on

- ^^^ the whole “idk go ask your mother” thing but it’s Olivia asking Xara and Ellie back and forth about something i love my parents :)

- these two are so old xara probably watches stupid videos on facebook or youtube full blast in the living room and ellie’s on the other side of the couch peacefully reading like :/

- they take care of each other during their low points. when ellie’s been working on a project all day and is too tired/sore, xara will run her a warm bath and put her clothes in the dryer so they’re nice and toasty. when xara has an episode of some kind whether it be depressive, anxious, or one of her injuries flaring up, ellie will sometimes lay on the couch/bed with her if she doesn’t wanna be alone and she’ll put on a movie and bring xara something to eat.

As soon as the family moved in California their lives started to get slightly better

Her father opened a restaurant for Moroccan culinary which became very successful

She studied at Newark Memorial High School and graduated with the highest grade in her whole class

A little before she graduated she found her best friends

She wanted to seek a higher education but her plans changed as soon as the Witherstorm accident occurred

She can fluently speak Arabic and she learned a little bit of French

Her biggest fear growing up was that she would never be successful enough

She constantly says that the happiness moment in her life was when she got accepted in High School

Since she was little, she always found interest in botanical life and dreamed of having a botanical garden of her own

His parents owned a little family business which made enough money so he can have a rather normal life

His mother is American while his father has Russian roots

He has a big brother who lives and studies in Canada

As a baby he was a very picky eater but growing up he started loving everything

He went to Kalani High School where he was the school troublemaker

He got expelled from there because of his attitude towards his classmates

When she was little most of the other kids were scared of her because of her tough personality

In her teenage years, she looked like a cold person but deep inside she was longing for people’s attention and approval

She moved to live in California after a big argument with her parents

She attended the San Leandro High School and she graduated with an average grade

She used to be in a band where she was a drummer

She started working multiple jobs so she can afford an apartment to live in

Despite being in cahoots with her parents they supported her for a while until she was able to earn money by herself

She met Jesse and their friends at the store where she worked

A little after she graduated, she got a sword tattoo on her shoulder which symbolised her tough personality and her admiration towards Gabriel the Warrior

Even though he is nothing but a fraud, Petra thinks that Gabriel is a good role model and mentor

His korean name is Kang Jae-seong

He is born in Daegu, South Korea on 22nd March 1995

His mother is German and his father is Korean

His father works as a surgeon while his mother is a stay-at-home mom

He has an older brother who is married and has a little child

He studied at Gyeongsin High School and graduated with the second highest grade in his whole class

He used to be the captain of the basketball team and he still plays in his free time

One summer when he was on a trip with his parents to California, he became friends with the Ocelots and started to participate with them in the building competition

Since his school was all the way in Korea, he went every summer to California so he can complete with his friends

As soon as he graduated, he moved to California to live with the rest of the Ocelots

He went to university for a little but he had to drop out because of the Witherstorm, saying that he is way “too stressed” to continue

He can fluently speak Korean, Japanese and a little bit of Chinese

In Korea he was quite popular for his natural blue eyes

He used to have black hair until he started bleaching it

He has piercings on his ears during the Witherstorm arc and he gets another one on his eyebrow after that

Unpopular opinion: Gabriel is actually the MOST timid and clingy member of the Original Order with his ego and boastfulness being just for show. He also had SERIOUS separation anxiety from Ivor and Ellegaard post-Season 2; he's also autistic (helmet also being used against loud noises)

Here’s a piece kinda inspired by it! I imagine Cassie would press the builders to make a portrait with her new pet as soon as possible.

I kinda wanted to add little leaves and sticks as an homage to the fic, but I figured it would make more sense to imagine that Mevia would clean her up before sitting down for a portrait.

I spent over 5 hours on this, but it’s sooo worth it ngl. Especially because of Winslow. He looks so fluffy and so baby in this.

MCSM Gabriel x Ivor

Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places, but I never see anything for my second favorite MCSM ship: Gabrivor. I see things for Harpvor (which is third favorite, I love it) and Ivoren (Soren x Ivor, which I completely see and understand, but am painfully ambivalent towards), but never this. So I'm going to scream my reasons for shipping it into the void for the stars to not hear.

So, a common piece of (for lack of a better word) evidence for Soren x Ivor is that, in playthroughs where you choose to save Gabriel from the Witherstorm and Petra is the one with memory loss, in the final battle, Soren runs away. And Ivor chases after him saying, "I can't let that idio get himself killed!" However, if you choose to save Petra and Gabriel is the one that loses his memory, then Gabriel will run off and Ivor will follow him, saying "I can't let that idiot get himself killed!" So if it's a piece of evidence for Ivoren, then it's a piece of evidence for Gabrivor as well.

But I want to go back a bit. To Ivor confronting Gabriel at EnderCon and creating the Witherstorm. This is honestly what made me ship them, because they seemed like such bitter exes. And they are bitter exes: bitter ex-friends. (Also, people use Ivor and Soren's bitter ex-ness as evidence, so I can too.)

It for some reason always stuck out to me that it was Gabriel that Ivor went after. Soren was in hiding, so he obviously couldn't choose him. Magnus was a public figure, but he stayed locked up in his castle constantly fending off competitors, so it would have been more difficult. However, Ellegaard was a public figure and, sure, maybe she was harder to get to than Gabriel, but she wasn't that hard for the main characters to get to. And she does make public appearances at least every once in a while, the citizens of Redstonia know who she is. He could have easily had his Witherstorm spawning there.

Now perhaps this is because Gabriel was the Warrior, the fighter. If you want to prove the Order is a bunch of frauds, you would want to show that someone is bad at the thing they claim they're the best at. But it's not like Ellegaard is portrayed as a bad fighter in the stories, so people would probably believe that she could take down a wither(storm).

I think the real, in-universe reason is the amulet. Ivor said that he programed the Witherstorm to follow the amulet, and Gabriel was the one with the amulet, not Ellegaard or anyone else. However, the amulet wasn't necessary to Ivor's original plan. The original plan, before the Witherstorm went haywire and stopped listening to his commands, was just to spawn the wither, have it attack a bit, have everyone see that Gabriel couldn't defeat it, and then defeat it himself by either calling it back or using the potion. He didn't plan for the Witherstorm to become out of his control and cause so much destruction. So, given what we can piece together of his original plan, he could have done that with Ellegaard, and maybe Magnus as well. So why would he choose Gabriel, specifically? Did he have a particularly close relationship with him and felt more betrayed when Gabriel sided with Soren and lied than he did when the others agreed to the same thing?

Also, I want to focus on the amulet a bit more. Why is it in Gabriel's possession? Gabriel doesn't really seem to do all that much magic, that seems to be Ivor's thing. It's also unlikely that any Order member other than Ivor made the amulet. Soren calls it "the Order's amulet", but Ivor calls it "Gabriel's amulet". Considering Gabriel almost definitely didn't make it and Ivor almost definitely did, why would Ivor call it Gabriel's? Ivor doesn't like the rest of the Old Order, so if Gabriel took the amulet when or after Ivor left, then Ivor likely wouldn't respect Gabriel's claim to it and would instead say it's his. But Ivor respects Gabriel's claim to the amulet. The only way I can see Ivor respecting Gabriel's claim is if Ivor, before the big falling out, gave it to Gabriel. Perhaps he even made it for Gabriel so he could find the rest of them better. Or maybe he made it for the whole Order but at some point trusted Gabriel with its ownership. Either way, it would suggest that Gabriel and Ivor had some special relationship. It doesn't have to be romantic, but it could say something about just how close they were.

Some miscellaneous things: if you choose to save Petra and Gabriel loses his memory, he will greet Ivor with "Hello, my name is Gabriel". And Ivor says "Somebody pinch me" with an odd expression on his face. I honestly don't know what this means, but it means something.

No matter whether you tell Gabriel to lie or tell the truth, after speaking, he will look back at Ivor. If you tell Gabriel to keep the truth about the Old Order a secret, Ivor shakes his head very disapprovingly and disappointedly at him. And Gabriel looks very guilty and sorry. And quite possibly a bit hurt/sad at Ivor's reaction. And if you tell him to tell everyone the truth, Ivor will silently nod approvingly at him. He doesn't smile, he's not smug, and he's not angry. In fact, he looks almost... encouraging and apologetic (for a split second before we cut back to Gabriel). Gabriel looks sad, but not at Ivor's reaction like he is if he lies. Either way, Ivor's reaction seems to have an impact on and mean a great deal to Gabriel. No matter what, he will look back at Ivor to see his reaction and possibly communicate that he's sorry.

All of this to say: there are some peculiar things that, in conjunction with each other, hint at Gabriel and Ivor having had a particularly close relationship while they were still part of the Order together. And I now ship these two idiots. Tragic.

Slowly have been falling back into my mcsm hyperfixation, though it’s kinda on brand with me and Minecraft stuff

Here are my headcanon designs for Jesse and Lukas! Jesse has the odd purple stuff on him cause of- Y’know, coming in close contact with the wither storm?

I like the idea that survivors from inside of the witherstorm have permanent side effects/looks on em, Jesse is no acceptation to this! His biggest change where his eyes changing colors, going from his usual bright green to the dark purple!

(They might also have the ability to slightly glow at night? Like the Endermen and Witherstorm are depicted in game to have?)

As for Lukas I wanted him to have the look of someone who’s been around the block (ha) a few times, like he’s actually done some adventuring?

He has bags around his legs and such to carry supplies for books or to carry around food/water, cause that’s- Y’know important! (And Jesse may forget to eat every now and then, because he got too busy with work)

Uhmmm I have more mcsm stuff I’ve made/am cooking up? I also have more Steve legends stuff I’m making, and stuff for The crafting dead

Appearance: Gabriel is certainly a looker and certainly above average height at an impressive 6"5. He has copper coloured skin and heterochromic eyes with one being dark brown and the other a grey-blue. Not only is Gabriel tall in build but also incredibly muscled, making him a tough opponent in a fight. He wears his dark brown in a loose ponytail which starts at the top of his neck and end just below his shoulders. On the off chance he isn't in sporting his usual ponytail, his hair is either loose about the same place the ponytail ends or it's in a bun hidden beneath his helmet.

Attire: When not in his usual, heavily enchanted armour, Gabriel's clothing leans more towards casual and comfortable, generally a baggy T-shirt and trousers with a hoodie.

Demeanor: Throughout his life

Pre Season 1: Pre Season 1, Gabriel is quiet and shy and a bit of a people pleaser. He is afraid to disagree with others for fear of conflict. However, during his time in the Order, Gabriel quickly gains confidence and becomes the well known hero everyone knows and admires.

Season 1: Gabriel is still a kind soul but, during the dark times, has a habit of acting a bit more cocky and confident than he actually is in order to give those around him a confidence boost. He also makes some (admittedly terrible) jokes to attempt to lighten the mood.

Post Season 1: Post Season 1 Gabriel is quiet and somewhat mistrusting of people he doesn't know. Sure he'll still smile politely but he can't help but wonder if he'll end up fighting someone and he fears what he doesn't know, leading to him getting a therapy dog named Audrey and his travel companion, Shadow the horse. Depending on who he's with, his personality can change. To those who knew him best, he is still the confident, warm and eager man they knew but to others, he seems shrouded in smoke and mirrors and is all mystery.

Strengths

Gabriel's most strongest point is, of course, his physical strength. He makes for a tough opponent in battle due to this and his uncanny ability to predict what his opponent is about to do. However, he is a good ally to find on your side

Gabriel is naturally a bit of a charmer with his rogueishly good looks that leave some of the fangirls/boys swooning. He has used this to his ability in a tight situation before

He takes in those he considers vulnerable and the orphans left from the raid on a village. This is down to his naturally kind and caring nature

Weaknesses: We all have em

Gabriel has a habit to put others before himself and this has nearly got him killed on multiple occasions. If not killed then certainly hurt in one way or another

His strength. He does sometimes accidentally hug someone too hard and end up hurting them

He is still kinda a people pleaser and this doesn't always end well for him

A brief backstory (and a few hcs about the other Order members):

Gabriel came to England not long after his parents had been killed in a raid in Mexico. It was during his time in the orphanage that he met Magnus and the two hit it off, despite Gabriel's (at the time) lack of English. Gabriel was brought in by a family already expecting a child but with a comfortable income.

Not long after however (about a year or so after his adoption) his adoptive parents divorced and his father was a fairly absent figure. Despite his mother's insistence, Gabriel helped to raise his younger sister, Beth.

At primary school, Gabriel reunited with Magnus and made three extra friends; Ellegaard, Ivor and Soren.

Thanks to both of his adoptive parents remarrying, Gabriel ended up with five more younger siblings - one boy and four girls. The last of his younger siblings, a sister, was born when he was sixteen years old

After he and Ellegaard graduated from university the Order of the Stone officially formed. During this time, Gabriel and Ivor started dating, marrying two years afterwards. When their group fell apart, Ivor and Gabriel stayed together and helped build Gabriel's temple.

Neither know when they decided they wanted a family but when a 10 year old Jesse and 7 year old Jess were placed on their doorstep with no memory of their former parents, the two men took them under their wings.

Two years later however, Gabriel and Ivor divorced after Gabriel realised what Ivor was planning to do to reveal the truth and the guilt of not stopping Ivor sooner still crushes him to this day.

A few facts

Gabriel has fostered other children, including Petra, after a court case of child abuse

Gabriel eventually settled down about six months after Season 2 to better take care of his kids but does still go out adventuring and rescuing others

He has autism

He took in most of the New Order (except Olivia, whom he is ninety nine percent sure was adopted by Ellie)

After a long, hard road to reconciliation, he eventually remarried Ivor

The witherstorm left him with scarring to say the least. He can't forget the screaming of the storm's victims and now he's afraid to get sick lest he nearly die again....

With half a dozen siblings, it's no surprise that Gabriel is a natural parent

His favourite music genres are folk and music. Favourite songs include Rocky Road to Dublin, Bones (by Sail North, not Imagine Dragons), Drunken Sailor, and Song of the Sea (which he used as a lullaby for Jesse and Jess

So.

Here's notes I have on MCSM New Order's (as of S1 anyway pretty much everyone in S2 is part of it lol) families. And when I say "notes" I mean it lol, like this is just what I randomly typed out in between classes back in November (with a couple recent additions). Grammar and spelling isn't 100% and nothing is serious. You're welcome.

Why am I posting this? For FUNNSIES. Also to hopefully share my obsession with block people worldbuilding and stories of my future MCSM fanfic with others! To encourage discussion and questions, because I like that. It's fun and I often find it helps me out greatly with writing! I hope anyone reading this enjoys! 😁

Olivia has a single dad (mom MIA) who moved in with his sister and nows helps at her farm. While maybe both dad and aunt are super busy and thus don't have the most time with her, they greatly love their Olivia and Olivia them. Her aunt thought for a while that her want to pursue Redstone was silly ("you have everything you need right here, and all that gallbittyglok is ridiculous!") but soon came to support her dream when seeing how passionate she was. Dad supported her Redstone interest from the start, proud that she was so smart and could understand things far beyond him. They also care for Jesse and Axel, happy Olivia has friends. She was super shy timid bahbee so extra impactful

Axel is adopted, with parents (haven't come up w occupations for them) and a couple siblings (one is older, other is younger) who care for him but don't see eye to eye at all. Axe very much black sheep. They were always disappointed with his trouble making and disagreed with his idolization of Magnus/want to pursue the griefer lifestyle. The fam greatly appreciated Jesse and Olivia as they could see the positive influence they had on Axel (also worried at Axel's lack of friends and chasing away of everyone else). Axel even became cuddlier with the family after Jess and Liv helped him open up and learn how to better express his feelings. While they still don't quite understand the griefer-ness they see he is doing so respectfully and are proud of his heroics.

Petra was a spawned baby (humans are kinda like pink sheep and have a rare chance to spawn every so often, babies having an ability to so but EXTRAORDINARY rarely. They are usually around 6 mos. old in comparison to newborns), and her cries attracted a pack of wolves who adopted her and loved her as if she were a wolf herself. Petra thought she WAS a wolf for a long time, even learning wolf body language and behaviors. Her speech sounds were mimics of nature sounds for the first few years of her life, only learning human speech/stuffs when someone came and tamed a couple of wolves from her pack. The humans in the nearby town insisted she start going to school and learning the ways of people (not that they helped her at all). Dealing with people made her even more survival oriented and hesitant to spend too much time with people. She always considered it beyond her to have and trust human friends until she met Lukas in middle school. She was struggling and Lukas offered to tutor her, Petra insisting that she pay him back with one of her famous trades, beginning their relationship. Lived with Villagers in their... villages, a couple times in the past, maybe why she's into the trade biz?

Jesse's parents care very deeply for him and have always done their best to support him. Always called him their "young warrior" upon learning about Jesse's love of the OG Order, particularly Gabriel. They're the ones who gifted him his armor stand seen in S1 Ep1. His mother is a miner and his father a gardener (that one day took a job helping with Olivia's aunt's gardens, which is how Olivia and Jesse met). They're simple but happy people. Mom is a bit more serious than the dad but still willing to have fun. Dad is a bit of a doofus, mom loves him anyway. Jesse gets his tenacity from Mom and goofball-ness from Dad. They also greatly care for Olivia and Axel, coming to see them as an unofficial son and daughter. I have a lot more about these two but that's the gist. Need to develop other guardians lol

Lukas' parents are complicated. They're snooty rich-ish creeps who have a terrible relationship (on-off? Similar to divorced? Idk there's drama), and had Lukas more as an accessory. Due to weirdness his sweet little (paternal?) Grandma became his primary caretaker from a young age and helped him become the wonderful Lukas we know today. Nurtured his love for writing?

P.S.

I'm figuring out the appearances of the other families but for now Jesse's mom has the same colored hair and eyes as him, which are brown and green respectively as I like to play with Red Suspenders!Jesse. His dad has tan hair and blue eyes, and the way the hair grows out from the head is similar in both parents so all 3 family members share this trait. The mom, while only an average height, is taller than her husband and Jesse is smack dab between them. I think it's cute and also unusual in a cool way to not only have a woman be taller than her male partner, but also her son. Plus the dad is just short AF considering how short Jesse is lmao

I think it's a very similar situation with Red Hairclip!Jesse (who I also like to play as), except her mom instead has features like hers as opposed to the brown hair and green eyes in the previous passage. The dad doesn't change lol
