Okay, so I don't know what I'd call this rewrite but I guess it's mostly just me putting in my thoughts!
To begin, Jennette still gets introduced at the debutante, except Athy doesn't immediately view Jen as an enemy but actually an ally as Athy talks of her plans to escape and Jen is like, bring me with??? Another thing besides Jen and Athy being partners in crime is that Lucas wouldn't be all powerful because it kind of throws stakes out the window?? So while Lucas can use magic it is not to the complete ability he has in the original where he literally just talks to God. He does indeed travel to the World Tree about the same things but the big takeaway is that he can't solve everything with his magic and needs to rely on Athy's mana and Ijekiel's knowledge to do the things he can do in the manhwa.
Also big thing, though I'm not sure on it, is that Athanasia does find a way to run away after Claude loses his memories and it's to Siodonna. This will introduce more characters as well as the looking threat of war with Obelian since the death (murder) of Diana. Because, no way in hell did Diana die in childbirth when MAGIC IS RIGHT THERE. No way homie. Somebody killed her and I wanna know who. Also good to note that Athanasius is indeed dead like in the novel and the big bad isn't Aeternitas but Claude's actions. I'm debating whether he dies or he lives the rest of his days trying to be a better father.
Anyways, back to Siodonna. It'd be a whole thing where Athanasia comes back because Diana had close ties to the Siodonna queen and was a close friend of her's before her late death. I'd also like to expand on the world building as well in this and the culture of Siodonna as a whole. Now, personally I would switch between Jennette's POV and Athy's as they are basically on opposite sides but still working together because their main goal is to both survive and live a happier life. So, while Jennette is being prepared as the next crown princess by Claude, Athy is being prepared as Siodonnan royalty, and this all comes to a head at a big international relations ball where various countries and nations gather and Siodonna and Obelia not so subtly hint at wanting to kill each other. This has been a mess of ideas because now I am thinking that they are working together for some goal other than finding Diana's killer (maybe Penelope's too?) And escaping, and that why they are on opposing sides and stuff. Ijekiel and Lucas have their own other set of issues such as Ijekiel watching his father being slowly driven insane by Aeternitas and him and Lucas having to work together to stop what is basically Lucas's uncle from going to the family barbeque. Just, a lot of ideas are floating around in my empty head.

BOOK REVIEW (#2)
Tumblr media
Severance — Ling Ma
I READ SEVERANCE IN FULL ON MAY 9, 2023. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY MONTHS IT TOOK ME TO READ MY SECOND BOOK OF THE YEAR. OOPS. I READ THIS ONE ON THE PLANE AGAIN. IT TOOK MY 3 HOURS TO FINISH.
I'VE BEEN TRYONG TO READ SEVERANCE FOR A WHILE AND THE FURTHEST I MADE IT LAST TIME WAS CHAPTER 8 I THINK. BUT NOW I'VE FINALLY FINISHED IT. I WAS SURPRISED BY HOW EASY I FOUND IT TO BE ACTUALLY. THE LANGUAGE MA USES WAS SO STRAIGHTFORWARD. THIS TIME AROUND, I ALSO FOUND MYSELF RELATING TO THE MAIN CHARACTER MORE. I GUESS I HAVE GROWN IN THE PAST YEAR. ESPECIALLY HER LOVE LIFE OH MY GOD. I WAS LIKE THIS IS SUCH A MOOD. AND I FELT LIKE I GOT IT. BEING A GIRL IN THE CITY. HAVING PRIVILEGES BUT KIND OF SQUANDERING THEM. WANTING TO DO SOMETHING BUT OFFICE LIFE GETTING YOU DOWN. YEAH ALL THIS NAIVETY AND STUFF. I'VE BEEN FEELING IT. DIDN'T DIG SUPER DEEP INTO ANYTHING. BUT IT WAS SWEET. THE ENDING WAS VERY INTERESTING TO ME. OVERALL I'D SAY THIS WAS A 7/10.
SPOILERS: LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ENDING FIRST. I'M STILL THINKING ABOUT THE TAKEAWAY? I THINK I WAS SURPRISED BECAUSE IT WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE. I FEEL LIKE THE BOOK'S PLOT WASN'T PARTICULARLY SURPRISING BUT IT WAS STILL FUN TO WATCH THE JOURNEY UNFOLD. WE KNEW FROM THE START THE SURVIVORS WEREN'T ALL GOOD PEOPLE FOR SURE. ESPECIALLY NOT THE HEAD BOSS HIMSELF. SO NO WONDER THEY LITERALLY LOCKED CANDANCE UP AND SHE HAD TO RUN AWAY. I THINK PART OF IT IS THAT THE ILLNESS IS NEVER FULLY EXPLAINED. WHY DID HE SUDDENLY GET IT? WILL CANDANCE CATCH IT SOON TOO AND BECOME FEVERED? WILL THE BABY EVER BE BORN? I GUESS IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER ANYMORE.
THE SCENES WITH CANDANCE'S MOM WERE EQUALLY PUZZLING. BC WHERE TF DID THAT COME FROM? I FEEL LIKE WHILE CANDANCE'S ANGER WAS JUSTIFIED AND FELT GOOD AND RIGHT AS A WAY TO END THE NOVEL, IT ALSO KIND OF FELT LIKE IT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE? WAS SHE USING THE IMAGE OF HER MOM TO SELF-THERAPIZE? IT WAS LIKE ANGEL ON ONE SHOLDER, DEVIL ON THE OTHER SITUATION WHERE SHE WAS TALKING TO HERSELF IN HER LITTLE MINIATURE HELL. MAYBE MA JUST DIDN'T EMPHASIZE JUST HOW INSANE CANDANCE WAS GOING IN THE FACILITY. EITHER WAY. ONE DAY I'M GOING TO LIVE IN NEW YORK CITY. AND I'M GOING TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE BOY DOWNSTAIRS AND I'M GOING TO THROW A SHARK FIN SOUP PARTY AND IT'S GOING TO BE GREAT. THE BEST PART OF ALL IT IS THAT I'M STILL YOUNG AND ONLY TWENTY AND IN AN YEAR I'LL BE A LITTLE MORE JADED BUT I HOPE NOT TOO JADED. THIS BOOK JUST REMINDED ME THAT I ALWAYS WANT TO GROW UP FASTER AND I WANT TO BE MATURE AND I WANT TO BE RESPECTED AND I WANT TO BE LOOKED UP TO BY OTHERS AND I THINK THE ONLY WAY I CAN DO THAT IS IF I ACT OLDER APPEAR OLDER BE OLDER BUT I AM SO YOUNG AND JOYOUS AND WONDERFUL AND PEOPLE DO LOOK UP TO ME LIKE IN MY SPOKEN WORD GROUP I AM AN ELDER EVEN THOUGH I AM ALSO YOUNG. IT'S BOTH. HEHEHE.

The delivery helmet guy | 23.02.2021
Phil: Whenever we get delivery food, which is quite often, because we don't like cooking and also it's like the one joy of lockdown. It's delivery food. It's exciting.
Dan: Carbohydrates. Shoved down my mouth. Yeah.
Phil: Dan, yeah, even though I am the more socially anxious one, always makes me answer the door. Or shout through the door is what I do to the delivery driver because I am paranoid. So that's a thing. But something happened because of that which was actually quite terrifying.
*joint laughter*
Phil: Do you know what I'm about to say?
Dan: What? The home invasion incident?
Phil: Yes! Okay.
Dan: Yeah.
Phil: Living in London, usually I lock my door. I lock the door. However, sometimes, I leave it ajar. I don't know why. I just do. Maybe, it's because-
Dan: You forget.
Phil *undeterred*: I used to live in a safe little town, where you're just like I'll leave the door open. I forget. I forgot to- I left it ajar, okay? I left the door ajar!
Dan: Yeah.
Phil: It was open. It was wide open. So, we ordered our delivery food and kind of forgot about it because sometimes it takes an hour to get here because everyone ordering delivery all the time. And I forgot that we ordered it and we were in the middle of, I think I was playing Apex Legends on the Xbox, and I was in the middle of the game and I looked up and there is a man in a motorcycle helmet just stood inside the lounge.
Dan: IN.
Phil: And I was just like-
Dan: In the apartment.
Phil: He was IN our HOUSE!
Dan: Not at the door.
Phil: No.
Dan: He walked through the door, through a corridor and into the room. And you need to understand, imagine you're just looking up, vibing, not having any idea that your food, your takeaway, is about to arrive.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: And then a man in a motorcycle helmet is just stood int he middle of your room, three feet away from your face. Phil screams.
Phil: I screamed.
Dan: Like *chuckles*
Phil: I don't think I've ever screamed that loud, it was crazy. I thought I was about to be kidnapped or something. It was insane. Until I saw, he was holding a big bag of food.
Dan: Your food, yeah.
Phil: And I could focus through the helmet and see some happy eyes beneath his mask and I was like, oh.
Dan: Yeah, he was just trying to be helpful.
Phil: And I think he might just have been one of those people. Yeah, I'll just come into the house and be helpful.
Dan: Well, Phil you LEFT the door open.
Phil: Yeah?
Dan: So if somebody is about to knock on the door-
Both together: and it's open
Dan: Maybe he just walked in. Phil, from a home invasion but also from a COVID standpoint was like *shriek noises* *chuckles*
Phil: Yeah, it was a full scream. It was an absolute terror scream. But yeah, I don't think there was any malicious intent. It was more over helpful so when I realised what was happening I wasn't like: Get out of my house! I was more just like: Okay, I see what's happening.
Dan: So, anyway, Phil gets the food, right? And the guy leaves and then we start unpacking our pasta and we're like: That was weird, right? Whatever. And then! All of a sudden, I get a notification on my phone and I'm like: Oh - it's the guy? And then we look up and the guy... again! Phil closed the door. The door just starts SHAKING violently.
*adorable Phil giggle*
Dan: And Phil screams. Again.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: They guy presumed the door was open. He didn't mean to shake it violently. He just thought it was open again, but he just walked into the door. So this guy in a helmet, fully walked into our door thinking we're just freaks who leave our door open all of the time. It turned out he didn't realise that there was a press to exit in the lobby and he was trapped. And for about ten minutes, he was just trapped in the lobby and thought he was going to die there. So he tried to come in again.
Phil: Bu the thing is-
Dan: Phil was shook.
Phil: After the customer has screamed in your face, are you going to try to walk into their house again or are you going to ring the doorbell this time?
Dan: I'd feel like, these guys are weird, I'm running away.
Phil: Yeah.
Dan: You gave him a tip to say thank you for making me shit myself.
Phil: I did.
Dan: And there we go, had a nice time. Yeah.
Phil: I'm either five years younger or five years older I'm not sure which.
