DESCRIPTION: These muses are Sherri’s roommates. Sherri lives in a 3-bedroom, 1 bath apartment in the Bronx, in the Park Place Suites. For the layout, I am very much stealing the layout to the New Girl apartment for this apartment, only with Schmidt’s room disappearing from it. Here’s an edit of what that would look like. Sherri has lived in this complex since June 2017 - whether these roommates have also lived with Sherri for this long, or are recent roommates who saw an ad online or smth and moved in after an old roommates moved out is UTP. I just imagine that out of the current tenants, Sherri has been there the longest. Any kind of personality or relationship type (gets along great, act like siblings, always at each other’s throats, constantly warring for bathroom space, the best of friends, etc.) is welcome for her roommates!

Here’s a bit about Sherri’s living tendencies: She is a perfectionist and a workaholic whenever she books a gig, so when she’s booked, her roommates are always aware. And when she’s auditioning, her roommates are also always aware. She sings and dances and practices lines all the time. She can cook. She’s health-conscious and works out regularly. She can be rude and blunt, as well as easily annoyed, but also surprisingly kind (if not nice). When it comes to her clutter, she is paradoxically clean in the kitchen but messy in the bathroom. She’s tactile with roommates she’s close to (if she considers you a friend she will lay on you while watching movies it’s just going to happen). She’s self-centered and talkative and will monopolize her roommate’s time if she has something she needs opinions on (will happen often). She’s a little shit and says she doesn’t like chaotic roommates while, in fact, BEING a chaotic roommate.

These case studies are to help my research of transitional spaces and the materiality which lays at either end. The type of transition which is used in coordination with what material is also of interest, as well as how the materials used cooperate with the spaces.

From this I want to pursue the use of timber battens/slats to enclose my transitional ramp in my project. I’ll also research handrails relating to timber materiality and the abstract qualities of my project.

NOONAN: The Increase of Harris …

Kamala Harris is a sitting U.S. senator who was vetted throughout the primaries, the child of immigrants and the first black lady and Indian-American on a major-party ticket. She thus pleases the standard requirements of a vice-presidential choice: First do no harm, and second choice up what you can.

She increased far fast. She was sworn into the Senate in January2017 She went national early and rapidly, like Barack Obama, who ‘d likewise been in the Senate less than 2 years when he started running for president. (Her pre-Senate background includes more-impressive workplaces, especially California chief law officer.)

She is a lady of the left who entered the law not as a defense attorney but as a prosecutor. This injured her in the Democratic primaries, where she was called a police, however will assist her in the general election with centrists and moderates.

She is an outstanding entertainer of politics. Like Bill Clinton she enjoys and has a skill for the essential artifice. She takes apparent satisfaction in marketing– making speeches, waving, chuckling, pushing the flesh. In committee hearings she cocks her brow in the closeup to reveal uncertainty. Her glamour, and her consciousness of it, were vibrant adequate to be spoofed by Maya Rudolph on “Saturday Night Live.”

Reading her 2019 autobiography, “The Truths We Hold: An American Journey,” it strikes you that what she’s truly bringing Joe Biden is the things she doesn’t state and the stories she doesn’t tell on the path.

She was born and raised in a climate of liberal advocacy in Oakland and Berkeley, Calif., in the 1960 s and ’70 s. Her dad, Donald Harris, born in Jamaica in 1938, was a student there and went on to be an economics professor at Stanford.

When Kamala Harris was a young child, her moms and dads brought her to civil-rights marches. “I have young memories of a sea of legs moving about,” she composes. Her mother liked to narrate. As soon as Kamala was fussing in her stroller, and Mrs. Harris leaned down and asked, “What do you want?” ” ‘ Fweedom!’ I yelled back.”

The basic environment was ’60 s Berkeley– diverse, full of enthusiasm, taken in by identity politics and arguments about freedom.

They took periodic trips to India. “My mom, grandparents, aunties, and uncle instilled us with pride in our South Asian roots. … We were raised with a strong awareness of and gratitude for Indian culture.” (India looks to be an increasingly essential ally as America’s relationship with China weakens. If Biden-Harris wins and her background is handy, excellent.)

She went to ballet class, sang in the choir in the 23 rd Opportunity Church of God, went to a black cultural center called Rainbow Sign on Thursdays. She saw Rep. Shirley Chisholm speak and was electrified.

By the time Ms. Harris finished high school she desired to become a lawyer like her heroes Thurgood Marshall and Constance Baker Motley. “Any time someone had an issue … the very first thing you ‘d hear was, ‘Call Henry, call Sherman.

For college she picked Justice Marshall’s university, traditionally black Howard University in Washington, founded simply after the Civil War and abundant with legacy.

She ‘d hang out with other students in the campus’s main yard: “On any offered day, you could stand in the middle of the Backyard and see, on your right, young dancers practicing their actions or musicians playing instruments. Look to your left and there were briefcase-toting students strolling out of the service school, and medical students in their white coats, heading back to the laboratory.

She ran for student workplace, signed up with the debate team, vowed Alpha Kappa Alpha, the powerhouse sorority founded in1908 Expect to see its colors, pink and green, at project occasions this year.

She was a tour guide at the U.S. Bureau of Inscription and Printing. When she bumped into the excellent stars Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis awaiting a VIP trip. “They projected an aura … they made a special point of engaging me in discussion and telling me that it made them happy to see me as a young black female working in civil service.” She never ever got over how they made her feel.

Then on to San Francisco’s UC Hastings law school. She was mortified at failing the bar exam– you get the impression it was her first failure; she always aced the test.

She is incredibly interesting when blogging about real things. She talks about how hard it was to put grade-school victims on the stand to testify to their sexual assault, and teens who had actually been virtually deserted into an inadequate foster-care system. She didn’t see district attorneys as oppressors: “I had found my calling.” There are plenty of cases in which prosecutors have utilized their workplace as “an instrument of injustice.” But “I knew the history of brave district attorneys who went after the Ku Klux Klan in the South” and “corrupt politicians and business polluters.” It was the attorney general of the United States who sent out authorities to safeguard the Freedom Riders in1961 “I was going to be a district attorney in my own image.”

” You can desire the cops to stop criminal activity in your neighborhood and likewise desire them to stop using excessive force,” she composes.

In the primaries we saw that when she alters her stands it tends to be politically hassle-free, gradually acknowledged and improperly discussed. There are signals of seeing policy as an external thing, not an outgrowth of one’s own belief structure, and things can change.

In the book we get a sense of gusto. She was reproduced to achieve in an aspirational immigrant environment.

She is warm, humorous. Like most of the men around her in politics, she enjoys being important. She isn’t embarrassed by attention.

Again, she has actually risen far quickly.

She is running for the second time now. The difficult find out a lot from defeat, but most political leaders discover it hard to alter their relocations.

This is going to be fascinating.
