i want to keep matthew mcconaughy locked in my basement and deprive him of food till he’s nice and frail. i want to see him stumble and fall on his face. i want to play with him the way a cat plays with a mouse. i want to sink my teeth into his skin. i want to see him struggle.

gimlet, i need to know where you think the $10 million went. I'm assuming the hermes blanket fund but why would you ever release something like this
I think it’s interesting that they put out an impact report that’s light on real numbers in advance of the 990. (By interesting, I mean it’s a planned diversion from the scrutiny and criticism that even neutral charity watchdogs will call them out on. $13m in funds and they only gave $3m out? Bad, unless they are restricted grants made to be part of multi-year commitments or earmarked for things like capital campaigns, which makes no sense since they’re not building out any facilities.)
the $10m came from an anonymous donor via the Silicon Valley community foundation. If I had to guess it comes from Benioff. Multiple connection points, the most notable being one of the VCs backing BetterUp through Salesforce ventures. More pathetically he’s such a Hollywood starf*cker that he invites Matthew McConaughy and will.I.am to salesforce meetings. Activist investors are looking to start trimming the company. Good luck.

True Detective-3 Stars of 10
Netflix Streaming show Review. Obnoxious woke content-tons Jodie Foster and Kali Reis Evoke Constant misery over 6 desultory episodes Most who saw the original season of True Detective, with Matthew McConaughy and Woody Harrelson (two of the best actors in entertainment) loved it. Lots of action, gratuitous sex, murder and mayhem. Great action, excellent cast. Season 2 was pretty good, I…

Interstellar
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have seen this film multiple times but was lucky enough to be able to watch it at the cinema. This has never been my favourite Nolan film but is definitely in his top 5 and is one of his most visually striking and cinematic films so I was exhilarated to see it on the big screen.
To start off the first act of this film doesn't get spoken about enough, the opening scenes done in an almost documentary style that seem initially so out of place are very intriguing and create a sense of mystery as to how this film will end and what the timeline is. I adore the subtle world building established in this opening act, having the earth slowly devolving, crops dying one by one, leaving the world with only corn by the start of the film. This choice allows for the beautiful setting of a giant cornfield and illustrates how limited the resources are. To add on the constant dust and dirt adds a dystopian feel without going hyperbolic and stereotypically totalitarian and apocalyptic, so subtle but perfect. Finally the world building of the moon landing being seen as just a tactic to bankrupt the soviets to deter people from wanting to travel to space or explore as the worlds focus is replenishing its resources and agriculture is genius. People focus too much on purely the visuals and music of this film when the world building and slower first act establishes the tone and characters so well.
Matthew McConaughy provides an exceptional and emotionally vulnerable performance in this film. Interstellar came out during the peak of his incredible run of True detective, where he played one of my favourite protagonists in TV history with Rust Cohle, Dallas Buyers club, playing a homophobic southerner learning the hardships and horrors of the Aids crisis and becoming a spokesperson for gay people, and his iconic and memorable cameo in the Wolf of Wall Street. His role as Cooper released during the middle of this legendary run and his performance doesn't disappoint, bringing so much humanity and charm to Cooper and having multiple scenes where his acting alone can bring me to tears. The best example of this is during my favourite sequence of the film, the water planet leading to him receiving the messages.
The tension on the water planet is palpable and the reveal the mountains are actually waves is gut wrenching, the detail of every tick in the music being a day on earth is terrifying when rewatching and the sequence stays breath-taking until they escape. Then the film slows down to allow Cooper to listen to all the years worth of messages he missed and McConaughy's performance shines as he cries, celebrates and laughs over the messages, watching his children grow up and change in front of him. Ending this perfect scene with the reveal his daughter is now the same age as him, a crushing realisation and a great call-back.
Obviously two of the best elements are the cinematography and music, Hans Zimmer brings his A game with one of his best scores to date, the unique piano and crystal organ music adds such a distinct and dramatic sound to the film. All the shots of space and the endurance floating or spinning through it are gorgeous and the use of no sound in space adds so much tension and suspense.
My only problem with this film is the fact it loses me slightly in the third act with the strange time paradox or future humans helping using the 5th dimension, it is a bit too vague for my liking and despite having black holes and worm holes feels unexplained and unrealistic as other sci-fi elements are given some explanation besides this. I still love the emotion of the third act but no the logic.
Overall its excellent. P.s. Tars is one of the best robots in film history.

33, 45, 56 for unusual asks! 💗
33. favorite actor?
Tv wise I love love love Milo Ventimiglia, Jesse Lee Soffer, and Jesse Spencer. Movies I’m a sucker for Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds, and Matthew McConaughy
45. how many kids do you want?
Like 3 tops. My mom is second oldest of 6 and dad is middle of 3. I’m the oldest of 3 and it seems to be a good middle ground.
56. would you rather live in rural areas or the suburbs?
Suburbs all the way. City’s are too big, rural areas make me feel isolated, but suburbs are my middle ground. It’s where I grew up and feel most comfortable
Thanks for the ask Sky!!

As for the marriage and Josey, I think we have to accept that she didn't always make good decisions in her life. She wanted to be loved and she also really, really wanted a baby. So she jumped into a marriage with a guy who seemed decent enough. And she had a baby with him because she really wanted to have one herself, not because she wanted to make a family with him, if you get the difference I'm trying to highlight.
Even with the book and pap pics and all it's practically impossible to put together a coherent timeline of her dating life, there's too much confusing info out there. That actually annoyed me about her book, it was really hard to figure out sometimes when X event took place, not just her dating life, other things too, like when she was living with her dad or moved out and lived in the apartment she splurged on a TV for etc. she was jumping between various periods of her life too. I've always wondered if that was just poor writing/editing or if it was done intentionally as to not give too much away.
I get the difference you’re trying to highlight.
Didn’t she also claim in the book that she got the breast implants when she was 18, or am I remembering that part wrong?
Idk why that would be done intentionally. Isn’t the whole point of a memoir is to be honest about all of the events that happen in a person’s life up until the book was written? What’s the point otherwise?
I got my mom Matthew McConaughy’s memoir for Christmas this year and that book is thick. Much thicker than Naya’s. Honestly when I got her book for Christmas last year I was surprised how thin it is. To me it seemed thicker in pics.
