It was easier to tell people that something was for money rather than love. You could move across the country for a low-paying internship. You could not do the same for a man who didn't expressly send for you.

More thoughts on the ship: kalladas/midamar from a discussion with friends:

Look at this awful creature.
I need to see him and Kallamar lounging like decadent Roman emperors on a litter of gold and feeding grapes to each other.
Alas I am unable to draw currently... (And my skill is not so good for what I envision)
Reminder of this ship's emergence in my brain:

Why do you need worldly things to define you? Why do you need a rank or a status to tell others who you are? Why concern yourself with the capricious opinions of others who are less impressed with who you really are and more impressed by the carefully crafted image you present to them - an image that is entirely surface with no inherent value? Take away the things and the status and see who notices you.

Many years ago, I bought myself a diamond. I didn't have one, no one ever liked me enough to give me one, and I really like shiny rocks.
I put it on layaway and visited it every week to make a payment until it was all mine.
I still love that rock and admire its sparkle and shine far more often than I'd like to admit (daily!).
Today I got my new rock. It's just a pretty as the one I bought myself and they balance nicely.
I hate that I am so enthralled with something so materialistic but boy am I loving playing with them in the light. 💍💍

The Queen of poor
I might be poor but I am a queen! I run my kingdom with strength, love and fortitude Dressed in rags and scruffy hair At least I am not so poor that I am nude I don’t need diamonds and a fancy car I just need faith and love I feel sorry for the materialistic As they jealously push and shove Those rocks make cold hearts it seems Where mine is warm like toast Because I have mind enough to…

Material Possessions
Indulgence and beauty surround my being as I escape from my prison.  Mine eyes, enlightened, my mouth gasping as I intake all and lash out my worst enemy, credit card.
It is all a dream come true, that in which is in front of me.  I want it all and I want it now.  Thus I must have it, my dearest credit card.
I finally escape such beauty, and lo and behold, what lyist in front of me now? Rows and rows of indulgence and beauty beyond beauty.
The day has now been captured by darkness and all that teased and played with mine senses have been imprisoned.  All that is left is my being and my bags.
Arrival within my prison gates, I open mine bags and notice, neither beauty nor indulgence layeth in front of me.  I have been deceived by thee, credit card…

There is a purpose of a soul, it is why we are here. It’s the mission we gave ourselves as a soul for this life on earth. We are here to remember who we are, and share that with the world. The reason we can’t find our soul purpose is that we are not spending enough time with our soul self. We are too much in our mind and body.

Consumer Culture
After making a list of all the necessities and wants I currently have, I've come to the conclusion that I might be a little too materialistic. My impulse to purchase these material goods is a result of consumer culture. However, I came to the realization that even while some of my needs may seem like wants to others, they are actually personal needs. Being materialistic, in my opinion, entails desiring to adopt the most recent fashions, designs, and looks as well as some of the flashiest and most sought-after items. This assignment has made me realize how fortunate and blessed I am to be able to have most of these "materials," whether I paid for them myself or if they were given to me. This fieldwork has also made me realize that I need to become more economically smart about some of the things or materials I purchase, as the majority of these are products of social media and inspired advertisements.
