Monster high books broke me

I bought all 4 of the og MH books and wanted to read them all but guys I can't

It's so bad

If I have to read another whole paragraph about how one character is dressed in tiniest details I am going to burn my eyes.

It's so cringy in a way it's just not fun to read, most of the times I just hit my face with the book

AND FUCKING MELODY AAAAHHHH I hate her guts, she is such "I am not like other girls" while literally being like all the other girls around her.

Also girls there have no personality they are just stereotypical girly girls that an alien would write with having the smallest understanding of what teen girl is.

For a book that is supposed to be all about diversity, everybody sure is like a cookie-cut of stereotypical girly girl.

i think there is something so interesting about the barbie movie that barbieland, even though incepted by ruth handler, is now controlled by men (and their view of women empowerment and feminism)

the reason the barbieland isn't affected by patriarchy is because it was an innovation/imagination from the ground up as a world that empowers women and is hopefully reflected in the real world.

and even though all of this was (probably) done it good conscience, the fact that women empowerment is (falsely) associated with the fear that men will somehow lessen their rights, aided with the entire thing driven by consumerism and capitalism results in a matriarchy, resulting in a power imbalance, which isn't really feminism.

it is such a perfect critique of girlboss feminism & radfem politics along with how patriarchy (or any other power imbalance) harms us all!

#i was a certified Tall Girl in middle school when Gooliope came out so I was obviously obsessed with her #but her design was always. kinda lame? #she’s so tall it’s like they didn’t feel like putting in more effort than dress and some accessories #I’ve been brainstorming Gooliope designs forever #but it was the hair that brought it all together #I don’t like it when slime has Normal Hair but also hate their weird molded bob the other slime girl has #but then I had a revelation: #her hair is a wig #so she’s got gooey dreads underneath #I imagine in practice they would be like. either rubbery plastic or something like electrical wires underneath? #structured and not particularly hair like but mildly possable and possibly restylable #she probably wouldn’t be clear like I’ve made her here but I would like it if at least her extremeties where #I feel like her being opaque makes it harder to tell she’s goo #but who knows!
