Dr. Jaeger's Health Shoe was a brand of footwear that was marketed as a health product in the early 1900s. The shoes were designed to be comfortable and supportive, and were said to improve circulation and promote overall health. The company that produced these shoes was based in Rochester, NY, and was run by John Kelly, Inc.
Chas. A. Eaton Co. was another manufacturer of women's shoes during the same time period. The company was based in Brockton, Massachusetts, and was known for producing high-quality, stylish footwear for women. While it's unclear whether the shoes made by Chas. A. Eaton Co. had any specific health benefits, the company was widely regarded for its craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Both John Kelly, Inc. and Chas. A. Eaton Co. were successful shoe makers during their time, and their products were popular among women in the early 20th century. While these companies may no longer be in operation, their legacy lives on through the shoes they produced and the impact they had on the fashion industry.

Chances are, you have Jan Ernst Matzeliger to thank, at least partially, for the shoes on your feet.
Matzeliger, an immigrant from what is now the country of Suriname, in South America, revolutionized the business of shoe manufacturing with a patent he earned in 1883 at the age of 30 – an innovation that underlies the methods shoe companies use today.
At one time, the upper part of a shoe was typically stitched to the sole by hand. A cobbler could churn out perhaps 50 shoes a day through the stretching and stitching process known as “lasting.” The lasting machine that Matzeliger invented allowed a shoemaker to complete more than 10 times as many shoes a day, according to the Smithsonian Institution and the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Shoes became more affordable.
“He was truly an entrepreneur, doing what he did in the late 1800s, facing such discrimination and racism at the time,” says D’Wayne Edwards, a former Nike executive who has designed footwear for such athletes as Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter and Carmelo Anthony and who is founder and president of Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design in Detroit. Pensole is a successor school to Lewis College of Business, a historically Black institution that closed in 2015.
“For him to have the vision and foresight to want to improve an industry and do something bigger than himself was truly amazing,” Edwards says. “He has been a pioneer for this industry that has been overlooked.”
Matzeliger was born in 1852 in Dutch Guiana, now Suriname, to an enslaved mother and the slaveholder in whose house she worked. He moved to Massachusetts in the 1870s.
Tumblr media
After learning that a Black man was behind a key industry invention, Edwards wanted to honor Matzeliger in a way that would keep his legacy front and center. The solution: incorporate Matzeliger’s name into a shoe brand.
“JEMS by Pensole” — the acronym standing for Jan Ernst Matzeliger Studios — will open its factory in March, marking 140 years since Matzeliger received his patent. Edwards says the company expects to launch its first shoe in September. Shoe designs will be the result of collaboration between Edwards and Pensole students.
The name “JEMS” has additional layers of meaning, Edwards says.  It represents gyms — where athletic footwear is often worn — and gems, which is what Edwards calls the primarily Black and brown students at Pensole who are being mentored.
“We really do feel that the people we’re going to serve and honor in this factory are truly the hidden gems of our industry who have been overlooked, and/or have not ever had an opportunity,'' Edwards says.
The new venture is backed by an initial $2 million investment from Designer Brands Inc., parent of shoe retailer DSW . JEMS by Pensole shoes will be sold exclusively in DSW retail stores nationwide.
“The reason we’re partnering with Pensole is to get the next generation of designers, and very specifically, African American designers, in the footwear industry, and using DSW as a tool,” says William Jordan, Designer Brands Chief Growth Officer. “Less than 3%of designers in the footwear industry today are African American. We need to change that.”

History of Converse
Converse aren't just your typical everyday stylish shoes you put on when you're feeling casual or not just another shoe you put on to follow through with the trends. the popular shoe originated in Malden Massachusetts 1908 and was made by Marquis Mills, who's original name was converse rubber shoe company.
Tumblr media
Later, in 1910 converse became an everyday staple in everyone's wardrobe, and in 1915 converse advertised to the basketball audience creating an athletic shoe made for the courts. Although the shoes popularity declined with the popularity of different competitive shoe brands, they later rebranded themselves as a casual footwear in the 1980s....let's be honest, they weren't made for basketball in the first place…Anyways, enough with the controversial statements and let’s get back to the history. Have you ever wondered where Chuck Taylor came from???????????? Well, me too, it came from an American semiprofessional basketball player named Charles "Chuck" Taylor, who came to converse as a salesman, and the company adopted his idea of putting a Star on the ankle, and that my friends is the story of the all-time popular Chuck Taylor, thank God for him, am I right??? or am I right???
Chuck Taylor has been and will always be the most popular shoe, now used in films, sports, such as powerlifting, Skateboarding. They are used in arts, media, and music culture. This shoe is most popular known for its form of Authenticity among many people and was popularized by famous people like Kurt Cobain, and political figures like kamala Harris. This shoe is made in different designs and will always be a popular form of expression among young people and will always have memories be passed on from generation to generation with this glorious shoe.

Nike Sues New Balance And Sketchers For Infringement
Tumblr media
According to Reuters.com
Footwear giant Nike (NKE.N) filed federal lawsuits on Monday against rivals New Balance and Skechers (SKX.N), accusing them of infringing patents related to Nike's technology for making upper portions of sneakers.
The lawsuits said that several New Balance athletic shoes and Skechers sneakers misuse Nike's patented "Flyknit" technology for running, soccer and basketball shoes.
Nike has previously sued Adidas (ADSGn.DE), Puma (PUMG.DE) and Lululemon (LULU.O) for infringing Flyknit patents. Adidas and Puma have settled their lawsuits, while Nike's case against Lululemon is still ongoing.
New Balance said in a statement that it "fully respects competitors' intellectual property rights, but Nike does not own the exclusive right to design and produce footwear by traditional manufacturing methods that have been used in the industry for decades."
Representatives for Nike and Skechers did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the Monday lawsuits.
Beaverton, Oregon-based Nike's website said that its Flyknit technology "uses high-strength fibers to create lightweight uppers with targeted areas of support, stretch and breathability." The lawsuits said the patented technology allows it to make high-performance uppers with reduced materials and waste.
Nike's complaint against Boston-based New Balance, filed in Massachusetts federal court, said shoes from New Balance's Fresh Foam, FuelCell and other lines violate Nike's patent rights. Nike sued Manhattan Beach, California-based Skechers in Los Angeles, claiming that shoes, including Skechers' Ultra Flex and Glide Step brands, infringed on its patents.
Nike asked the courts for an unspecified amount of money damages and court orders permanently blocking New Balance and Skechers from infringing the patents.
Nike is at it again! Don't play around!
