The (MeaRiri) Kiss
“All the love you gave me
You know it made me strong
Feeling alive, now back to lifeI know where I belong
I'll never let them break me
I'll never do no wrong
We're on fire, we're on fire
And we're burning up" Seafret

black hole sun
mary saotome was the supernova her sister so wanted to see. impulsive blink, heart torn out in her mouth. fallen from grace to knock the quarter-moon from ririka’s face.
“i despise you,” saotome said, watching the pitiful tears drip from ririka’s cheeks, “prove yourself.”
then, “shut up, stop fucking up, stop proving yourself, goddamnit i get it!” like ririka was playing with cosmic dust, telling truths for truths’ sake.
the game went with rin on his knees, and left ririka, a victorious cosmos of votes and real. “… i thought you were lying.” saotome said, and ririka shook her head, flush splattering across her cheeks, “you hoped i was lying.”
“i like guys that are real honest,” saotome said, “i’ll be your friend here,” saotome said, “we’re gonna run this shit,” saotome said, saotome said. once ago, and ririka collected every bit, constellated it, created a cosmos of saotome, saotome, only saotome.
mary saotome kissed her like the black hole sun, singeing the plastic into thick rivulets dripping out her mask into bits. “i love you,” ririka gasped, and mary was a laughing astronomical thing. grabbing her arms, entwining their hands, roaring a bet into her sister’s face. queens against jacks. bang.
they called the unnatural force of hyakkaou yumeko jabami, but the black hole sun had long been here. mary saotome, starbursting an aquarium into death, death, death. cusping the remains into comets and cupping ririka’s cheeks.
“now that we’re on top, what d’you wanna do?”
i want to die to you.
i know you do.
“a gamble,” ririka says, “for the throne. i win, i take the seat back for my sister. you win, you kiss me on it.” she holds her breath, hopes she hasn’t chosen wrong.
mary’s grinning, light in her deranged eyes. saotome will incinerate her again.
“it’s on. what’s the game, ririka?“
“rock, paper, scissors. i’m going rock.”
supernovas, black hole suns, cosmic dust; the scripted finish is an explosion. the paper cusps the rock of her knuckles and mary is shoving her back against the throne and kissing her, pulsar-force, quasar-grin, going, going, going. mary knots her fist, leans in close, whispers, “i love you… stuuupid!” and ririka, ririka is laughing too.
it ends like this. the black hole sun kills the penumbra moon, brings her to life, and the penumbra moon throws herself into the abyss willing. saotome, momobami, mary, ririka; they go the way of the gods.
fin.
