some people’s definitions of “unhinged women” in horror is so skewed. not every woman who feels an emotion at the end of a horror movie is “unhinged”

#grace in ready or not is not ‘unhinged’ at the end she’s just pissed off #amy dunne is not ‘unhinged’ she’s very calculating. she’s ruthless maybe and extreme and vengeful but not unhinged #carrie white is unhinged. dani midsommar is unhinged. anna possession is fucking unhinged #baby firefly is unhinged especially by the time 3 from hell happens #you might even be able to make a compelling argument that adelaide wilson is unhinged given the twist at the end but that’s a reach imo #even amma crellin i wouldn’t consider unhinged. violent =/= unhinged #most final girls aren’t unhinged. i can think of very few exceptions #you might be able to say the main character in the texas chainsaw reboot is unhinged but again i think she’s just pissed off #mary mason and amanda young are traumatized and vengeful but i wouldn’t call either of them unhinged #i feel like ‘unhinged’ implies a lack of control or repression along with a certain amount of volatility #that a lot of these characters that people will arbitrarily categorize as ‘unhinged’ don’t show #i also don’t think an ‘unhinged female character’ is a new trend or necessarily a ‘feminist’ trope #just my onion
