Welcome to Fluffy Steve Fest!
It's a go!! Thank you everyone who filled out the interest check or helped share it! ♡
This is a week-long celebration of Steve's birthday and will run from Monday, July 1, 2024 to Sunday, July 7, 2024.
There will be a new theme and four on-theme prompts every day to jumpstart your ideas, as well as extra challenges on the day of Steve's birthday to inspire you to try something new, but you don't need to use them. As long as you create a work that fits the rules & guidelines and post it during the event, it counts and will be included in the event.
Schedule
May 1: Prompts posted
July 1: First day of Fluffy Steve Fest - AO3 collection opens
July 7: Last day of Fluffy Steve Fest
July 10: Roundup of daily masterlists
July 22: (Optional) Last day to post your personal masterlist to be reblogged
Rules
You must be 18+ to participate because there may be mature/explicit themes and works.
Make Steve proud and be respectful! No hate at any step of the way, including kink-shaming, ship-bashing, bullying, harassment, hate speech, and discriminatory behaviour.
No advertisements or works for profit/commercial purposes.
All works must be pro-Steve and Steve-centric. No Steve-bashing will be tolerated - remember that this is a celebration of Steve and your love for him!
Since this is a fluff fest, there should be more fluff than angst, more comfort than hurt, and a happy Steve! For example, while fluff can feature heavy themes, angst without a happy ending or hurt no comfort would not count. Use your best judgement :)
With that being said, please tag your content and warn appropriately. If you're not sure whether something needs tagging, err on the side of caution so that this can be fun and safe for everyone.
In the same vein, please also keep in mind that this is an open event with a mostly unmoderated AO3 collection and you are the best-equipped to be responsible for your experience. Mind the tags and warnings and click away from works that aren't your thing.
Work Guidelines
All work types are accepted, including fics, art, gifs, meta, videos, manips, moodboards, playlists, rec lists, crafts, polls, poems, comic panel edits, podfics (with permission), etc.
There are no work minimums.
Steves from all universes are welcome!
All pairings are welcome!
Posting Guidelines
Share your work here on Tumblr and/or to the Fluffy Steve Fest AO3 collection.
When posting on Tumblr, make sure to tag @fluffystevefest and use the tag #fluffystevefest so your amazing work can be shared! If your work is posted elsewhere, you can share the link to it on Tumblr.
If you are using a theme or prompt of the day, make sure to specify which one(s) you're using and post it on the day of. If you are not using any themes or prompts, feel free to post at any point during the week.
Cross-posting with other events is allowed as long as the other event allows it too!

I might have talked a few times about Billy and his radio show on Whiz Radio before, but I had another idea pop up
Y'all know that one about Billy, secretly Whiz Kid, radio show host beloved by the Justice League for his views on heroism and opinions? Well, what if one day, while he's doing just another regular radio show segment talking about, idk, villains and the levels of redemption possible, and the other heroes are listening in wherever they are. At home, on a flight, in the car, etc. They're just enjoying hearing this kid talk about really profound matters with maturity and respect, honest to good soulful journalism.
Then, out of the blue, a villain crashes through the building of Whiz Radio and holds all of the employees hostage on live air. The whole encounter is heard by the heroes and Billy is made to report on the event as it happens, trying to be brave and holding back the urge to knock out this bozo ruining his show. The villain makes Billy plead for help on the radio, asking for an insane ransom in order to set the hostages and Whiz Kid free.
The internet goes nuts. The heroes are furious. This was Whiz Kid! One of the best kids around, and a darling of Fawcett city whose voice reached thousands. Everyone expected Captain Marvel to come right away to their rescue, to save Whiz Kid and teach this bad guy a lesson. Maybe this would give Captain Marvel a reason to finally be on the show to be interviewed! More listeners listened in to the channel by the second, waiting for what was to happen next.
Only...Captain Marvel never shows up. It's his city to protect, but for some reason Captain Marvel isn't anywhere to be seen or heard?? What the hell???! Is he seriously ignoring Whiz Kid?!?
Billy can feel his JL communicator buzzing like crazy. The other heroes are trying to get into contact with him because they all love Whiz Kid, but little do they know that Captain Marvel wasn't going to be there to save the day....Billy Batson was going to have to save the day
He had no idea how he was going to do it, but he felt the courage of Achilles burn inside of him to stand up for himself and the other employees.
One by one, Billy takes calls live on the radio show from all over the country, and even one from space?! Oh wow. An anonymous caller from Gothom, a reporter from Metropolis, a forensic scientist from Central City, and some ginger in space (Billy didn't like having to acknowledge Guy Gardner). All these callers found a way to help Billy take down the bad guy with hints and hidden advice, and by the end of the night, Billy was hailed a hero for essentially, "Home Alone-ing" the bad guy through the Whiz Radio building. The bad guy was begging to be arrested at that point.
That episode saw the rate of listeners go sky high! Earning Billy a bonus and many other heroes stopping by to congratulate him for doing such a good job!
However, Billy has a tough time explaining to the League as Captain Marvel as to why he couldn't save Whiz Kid, being thoroughly interrogated by his coworkers on the matter of time management and etc.

Please fill out this anonymous interest check if you are interested in participating in Cap Bang!
Mods need to know what interest there is before plowing ahead!
You will help us shape this Bang into what you want it to be. Here are a few of the interest check questions as an example:
Should the Cap Bang include Peggy Carter/Captain Carter as a Cap? (You could create work for any Peggy ship if so.)
Should the Bang consider anyone who's held the mantle of Captain America (i.e. John Walker, etc.) as a Cap? (You could create work for any John ship if so.)
What form of Bang should this be (Big Bang, Reverse Bang, Double Bang)?
Captain America lovers, don't miss out!

Cullens Reacting to Fem!Scarlet-Witch!Reader
Carlisle Cullen
He had his suspicions that you weren't a standard human, but he could never quite put his finger on why he got that vibe from you.
You were admitted to the tiny Forks hospital emergency room after you'd fainted in the street. And for what should've been a very regular medical check, strange things seemed to be happening.
The lights and electronic heart monitor flicked on and off without warning, pens and papers on his desk seemed to move when he turned his back. Waves of red light danced just beyond his sight.
For what his centuries of medical practice told him, you'd be fine, only suffering a slight headache. But the moment you left the room everything appeared to function perfectly again.
Carlisle grew up in a society that endlessly feared the power of witches casting curses and plagues on the people, and he found himself unable to forget what he was taught after he met you.
Carlisle was a man of science, but after living for so long, nothing could explain what had happened with you that day without magic.
Esme Cullen
Esme first meets you at a charity event to raise funds to support overseas humanitarian crises, one of the many charities Esme heads in her free time.
She's busy organising baked goods at a long central table when you walk in, shuffling your feet and glancing around nervously. Seeing your discomfort, Esme goes up to you immediately, asking if you're alright and if she can get you anything.
You insist that you're fine but want to dedicate some time to help support the charity. Esme is delighted to have some more help and asks why this particular charity's cause spoke to you.
You mention that you came from a now collapsed Eastern European state and that you'd come to America to seek safety and justice for everything that happened to you and your people under that corrupt government. That you want to support groups that seek to protect people who are at the mercy of callous and greedy leaders.
Esme is incredibly moved by your story and your values and goes to fetch the paperwork for you to become a volunteer. But then she remembers something that came through the Vampire intelligence network a while ago. The country you came from had been experimenting on its people, giving them abilities that would make them more powerful than vampires.
She stops to consider that maybe you were one of the people they experimented on and that you might have powers that could surpass all vampires. She chases that thought from her mind, for now, reminding herself that she's in no position to be interrogating you if that was the case.
Edward Cullen
At first, Edward was none the wiser of you or your abilities. You were just another girl at Forks High. But slowly, as the days went by, he didn't so much as notice you but instead noticed your influence.
On your first day of school, he stood behind you at the lunch line. The two guys in front of you kept thinking about how excited they were to be getting the last slices of pizza. Suddenly their minds abandon pizza so when they go to order they get the salad option instead.
You drop your hand to your side and get the second-to-last slice, turning to Edward and giving him a knowing wink. Despite the panic gripping his dead heart, Edward shuffles up the counter after you and orders the last pizza slice to keep up appearances.
For the next period, Edward is consumed with thoughts of 'Can she read minds?'. If you could read his mind, you hid it well by ignoring all the panicked thinking he was directing at you. 'Perhaps she's tormenting you on purpose. Can YOU read my mind?', he asks again.
Again you give no indication that you can hear his thoughts. Suddenly, the teacher calls his name, expecting an answer to a question Edward did not hear. Then a soft, ghostly voice reverbs in his head 'The answer is 42'. It was a voice that sounded exactly like you.
Edward awkwardly mutters the answer before the teacher rewards him for being correct. He turns to look at you on the opposite side of the class. So you couldn't read minds then, but could still project your thoughts onto others? Very interesting, very interesting indeed.
Alice Cullen
She recognised you immediately the moment she saw you arrive at Forks High. You had been the one she'd had visions of for months on end.
But you looked different from her visions. Your face was not strained as you contorted a swirling red mist in your hands. Your eyes did not glow red as the tips of your fingers turned black as if dipped in ink.
No instead you seemed almost painfully ordinary as you scrawled long division calculations into your notebook during class.
Alice wondered how to discuss you with her family, from what she saw, you had the power to bend Forks, if not the wider Washington area to your will alone.
Maybe it was best to leave you alone, keep you away from the hidden madness of vampire clans and werewolf treaties. The Volturi would certainly not rest until you were a vampire under their thumb.
Alice decides that if you're as smart as you are powerful, then you'll quickly work everything out for yourself and whether or not you really want to be involved will be up to you.
Emmett Cullen
He genuinely had no idea you existed, you kind of merged into the background with all the other kids at Forks High. That was until the egg incident.
To this day, neither you nor Emmett has spoken about what happened, and he firmly believes that was for the best. But now there is a permanent tension between the two of you, you both know about the other, but you're both unwilling to admit any of it.
It happened on a late October evening, and Emmett was launching eggs into the side of the school building with all his vampiric strength. After all, no one was around to see it, so why would it matter?
Another egg practically evaporated as it hit the brick, splattering into thousands of tiny yoke fragments flying in every direction. It so happened that you had just stepped out of the gymnasium, with egg bits flying toward you at supersonic speeds.
But before the shattered egg could coat your hair, a red barrier of mist emerged from your outstretched hand, deflecting the remnants of egg to land either side of you.
That's when you notice Emmett and Emmett notices you. You both stare at each other, frozen in time. At some point in your impromptu staring contest, you and Emmett silently agree that neither of you would ever talk about what happened and what you were, Emmett certainly wasn't in a position to be throwing eggs in a glass house.
Jasper Hale
When Jasper was mortal, his mother always used to tell him and his sisters scary stories of evil witches who would snatch them in the night if they ever went out wandering.
Jasper never really paid those stories any mind, until he met Maria, and suddenly he began to understand why powerful women should be feared.
You didn't strike him as the 'witchy' kind, no black cats, no large pointy hat, no flying broomsticks, no bubbling cauldron. But just like Maria, you had this aura of some kind, and you certainly weren't no vampire.
He'll admit that he never saw you do anything particularly magical either. But he did notice that people can get scared out of their wits when you're about.
At the same time, there seemed to be this sadness in your eyes, and an exhaustion that didn't truly belong on anybody as young as you.
Jasper goes against all his instincts and begins to investigate you. Over time, he makes you feel more and more relaxed in his presence, maybe you'll let something slip.
Rosalie Hale
Rosalie was used to having people look at her, even in her mortal life, very few could tear their gaze away from her. But today was the day she made eye contact with you as you looked at her.
There was this indescribable energy in your gaze, almost a power. For the first time in her immortal life, Rosalie felt nervous by looking at a human.
As you retreat your eyes and continue onto class, Rosalie realises that she'd stopped pretending to breathe, artificially filling her cold lungs with air once more.
Despite her best interest, Rosalie couldn't get you out of her mind, She found herself following you, watching you in class, seeing where you sat during lunch. And the longer she looked, the more tangible this aura of raw power you had seemed to be.
It was like this shift in the air, the room, the people around you. Apart from this, there was nothing about you that wasn't completely ordinary.
She'll admit you were pretty, not as pretty as her, but then no one really was. For now, she'll keep on watching you, perhaps you'll slip up and reveal what you really are.

Tumblr media
Every morning is always the same when you're paid to kill. He'd been trying to be better about the whole actual killing part lately, but that didn't change his morning routine very much. He woke up to the sound of his alarm clock going off—yes, he still used one. If you asked for his reasoning, he'd tell you it's because it's less complicated and you can always count on it to work because it simply stayed plugged into the wall; in the event that the power went out? It had batteries for backup power, and you can't find that kind of peace of mind with just the alarms on your phone. He's still an old soul, sue him. He woke up at 6:45 am, on the dot, every morning without fail that way so it was rather effective.
After the blaring sound of his trusty alarm clock came the process of forcing himself out of bed and cleaning up for the day; shaving if necessary, freshening up, getting dressed, the works. This was generally when he'd change his appearance should the need arise, as well. But he didn't need to do that this morning and so he flicked the light to the bathroom off as he left the room when he was finished, heading out to his kitchen thereafter. The next step? Food. It was always 7 am sharp by the time he got done with his wakeup process, the only time that changed being when he added any extra steps in the bathroom. And breakfast was always simple: a cup of hot black coffee, sliced avocado, and bread toasted to perfection with an egg over medium to be dipped in. And it never failed to be a pleasant way to start his morning, usually followed closely after by a session of watching the morning news. He found it a good way to see what was going on in the area and across the country so he could plan accordingly.
If he didn't have a job, which by chance was the case today, he'd generally find any sort of quiet way to spend the rest of his morning; reading a book, cleaning up all his weapons, or a walk in the park if he felt like it. Today, he felt like it. And it was mostly peaceful, if you excluded the grating sound of car horns, tires squealing, and buses chuffing past. And of course, if you chose to ignore the rumbling from the subway, the people shouting either in their urgency to get to work or just simply because they were an ass, then it was really utterly plain and quiet to walk through Central Park. By this point Bucky had truly gotten used to it. He supposed in some ways it wasn't too much different from his home in the past. But that didn't mean he liked to spend too much time there anyway. So long as he got out and went back home just in time, he could skip the gradeschoolers and dog walkers that came around for the afternoon.
There had been nothing unusual about his day so far, and he liked that. He liked the rhythm of it all, and how it always went according to his carefully curated schedule. He began the process of unlocking his apartment door after making his way up to his floor, and pushed it open to take a step inside. Crunch.
What the helll...?
Bucky frowned as, seemingly, something sat under his boot and crinkled where he'd stepped, making the same sound again as he carefully pried his foot off. The poor, crisply folded, paper envelope that had earlier been slotted through his dead-drop, suffered a dirt-covered footprint but aside from that, it seemed harmless and intact as he picked it up to inspect it. A curious thing to find when you hardly get mail aside from the bills. What was even more curious was the contents within it, feeling a bit lumpy and—quite frankly—heavy for a letter-sized envelope. He closed the door behind himself with one hand, locking it once again out of habit while the other kept hold of the envelope. Moments later he flicked out a switchblade to slice it open revealing not only a handwritten letter but also $23.42.....Exactly. All in small change.
It was quite honestly the oddest thing he'd seen or received to date, and that was including the number of quite-literal backstabs he'd received, numerous other maiming injuries, and the odd encounters he’d had with a talking raccoon, tree, and robot...man…thing. To name a few. That was also including the number of odd jobs he'd been offered and peculiar payment methods he'd been given. Never had he come across such a specific payment with a letter that….upon further inspection….looked as though its penman couldn't be much older than 9 years old, at most.
'Dear mister,
My name is Rosie Jones. I am 9 yeers old. My mommy says you're vary good at helping people. Well, I need your help. Mommy also said you like to be paid for helping, so I broke my piggy bank open so you wood help us. Mommy doesn't know yet thoe, so please don't tell her.
My mommy dissuhpeered disappeered last night. She told me to hide and I did but now I can't find her and so I need your help mister becuz you're really good at finding people too, mommy said so. Please please help me find my mommy, I don't know what to do mister.
– Rosie'
"You've gotta be shitting me." He muttered to himself. The first question Bucky had, quite honestly, was how did this little girl even know who he was? Or where he lived? Not many people did, if any, truth be told. If they did? They were usually dead within minutes. It was one of many reasons that kept his renowned status intact. But here he was, sitting at his own table, with proof that some little girl knew both of those things. Frowning down at the paper and envelope of change, the assassin ran his hand back through his dark brown hair momentarily, processing what he'd just read. On one hand, it could be an elaborate trap. By all rights he had to assume it, considering the nature of the letter and the fact that a little girl of all people had written it. But on the other hand, there was a certain dedication there that he simply couldn't ignore. And some part of him couldn't help but at least look into it. So moments later, the man was pulling out his laptop and began searching for answers, anything that could give this little girl's story any sort of credit.
Much to his surprise? It checked out. Every last bit of it. There was a mother, connected to the Rosie Jones in question, who had gone missing under rather mysterious circumstances. "I'll be damned, mystery kiddo."
'Y/N Jones, aged 37, a single mother, was nowhere to be found the next morning after reports came in that a struggle and silenced gunshots were heard from the house that night.'
He probably could have gotten away with just keeping the money and letting it go. It was some little kid somewhere hoping for someone to hear her plea, he could get away with it. But it was that name…. he'd seen it before, he knew he had. In all fairness though, he really only remembered faces exceptionally well. Names didn't matter in the long run, names didn't tell him who he was shooting within a crowd of people. So why did it keep nagging at the back of his mind?...
Spoiler alert: he shouldn't have went digging. He should have just left it alone. But he had always been a curious mind and he was nothing if not thorough on top of that. Popping open the top to his bottle of whiskey, Bucky carefully poured out a favorable portion into a glass tumbler, before letting it down onto the counter as he heard an agreeable noise coming from his laptop to signal it had finished its task. Glancing over his shoulder, he sipped on his drink as he made his way back over to the table, having waited for what seemed like an hour to get the information he wanted. And the minute he looked at the screen was the very same minute he regretted it.
He knew that face.
He knew it like the back of his hand almost, he knew it the same way he knew the taste of bourbon or the sound of a .22 magnum. That was the face of Y/N Y/L/N and it was a face he had been trying to forget for years now. But most of all he knew it was a mistake to have even touched this with a ten-foot pole. Because now he had a target, he knew what the target looked like, and he had been paid in- well, maybe not-so-full, but in 9-year-old currency $23.42 was basically a million dollars considering it was all her savings.
In short?
He had to do it now.
He knew that. And it damn near made him groan at the prospect. Because this was going to be a long-ass job, and if he was going to ensure the rescue of that little girl's mother, then he needed to ensure that child's safety. The less leverage the 'enemy' had, the easier his job was. So as he sighed out, "Damnitall, this better be fuckin worth it kid," the hundred year old assassin finished off his drink and went about packing his things to take on a job that he never asked for, but knew damn well he was stuck with until it was over.
But at least if he had to go through with this, he was going to be damn sure he did it right, that was for sure.

Have you always craved more Punisher/Cap, Daredevil/She Hulk, Elektra/Echo, Mike Murdock/Loki? Are you dreaming of Karen Page/Pepper Potts or Foggy Nelson/Frank Castle? You've come to the right place!
Sign up here for DDE's Rarepair Minibang!
All iterations of Our Faves are welcome - comics, TV, and even film versions!
Signing up means that you can submit art and/or fic, and that you will have access to claims. Not signing up means no access to claims. You can both submit and claim, and you do not have to submit something in order to claim something else!
AO3 collection - Tumblr
Here are the options: - This is both a regular and a reverse bang, meaning you can submit art and/or fic for claims. - You can go the traditional route: submit your work and let people claim! - You can already have a partner in mind, in which case both of you must fill the sign-up form and let me know who your partner is.
What are the criteria? - Fanfic: 1.500 words minimum, must be beta-ed. 500 words only needed for submissions! - Art: one piece minimum. A sketch is fine for submissions! What type of art? Traditional: drawing, painting… or non-conventional: pottery, felt art, gifsets (6 gifs min), fanmixes (6 pieces of music + cover), embroidery, dollhouses, podfic, bookbinding… All visual art must be accompanied with a description.
What is a rarepair? If there are over 1,000 English-language works on AO3 as otp:true (aka, they’re the main ship), then it’s not a rarepair. Excluded as of the time of this FAQ (might be updated): Matt/Foggy, Matt/Frank, Matt/Reader, Frank/Karen. Let me know if you find others, or ask me to check! Your rarepair (or OT+) must include at least one of the characters from the Daredevil, Defenders, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Punisher comics, TV shows, or movies... the rest is up to you :D
The schedule: Signups & submissions open until March 17 Claims: right after. Posting: depending on the number of teams, starting mid-May.

He is looking with concern at Frank and holding voodoo dolls of Elektra Natchios and Malcolm Ducasse. Jessica is wearing a black jacket over a purple top. She is frowning and sticking a pin into a voodoo doll of Misty Knight and has a doll of Trisha Walker in her jacket pocket. Matt is wearing a red shirt and red sunglasses. He looks worried and is cuddling voodoo dolls of Karen Page and Foggy Nelson. There are doll hearts and pins on the table in front of him. The table is black and the background is pink.

Relationship: Edward Elric x F!Reader Content Warnings: Post-Story Events, Nightmares, Panic Attacks, PTSD, Angst to Fluff, Aged-Up Edward Elric Summary: Years after the events that took place in Central, Ed still struggles with nightmares. Word Count: 1,300
A/N: I had taken this down from Tumblr and left it up on AO3. Since I've made my works only accessible to registered AO3 users in the past week, I thought I would repost it here as it started as a tumblr request.
Tumblr media
Four years later and it still affects him as though it were yesterday. The mounting anxiety and anticipation in the week leading up to it, the concern he held for Al, the frustration he felt at seeing Hohenheim一at first, anyway一working alongside Scar and the chimeras. Some parts are a blur, like how they got into the underground tunnel or the way they had to fight those mannequins, but others? Others are ingrained so deeply in the folds of his brain that, when he closes his eyes, he can still see it, still feel it.
Like no time has passed.
But it has passed. It’s passed marvelously. Al is visiting Mei in Xing right now, whole and in the body he had been deprived of for so long. Winry and Granny are in Resembool, happy and healthy with increased business thanks to Winry’s time in Rush Valley. And now he has you.
Constant. Patient. Brilliant and luminous, just as your paintings.
Each time he finds himself reliving that day, you are here to remind him of the present. Each time he wakes from a nightmare, you’re right beside him, content to hold him to you or to nestle closer in his arms. You’re here.
But this dream is so vivid, so real, it muddles the line of distinction, making it difficult to discern dream from reality. He calls it a dream一a persistent, desperate hope more than anything一but he can’t quite tell.
Tumblr media
His heart thunders in his chest, rewatching the familiar scene in horror一Mei sobbing over what remains of Al’s armored body, too destroyed for Ed to do anything; the rebar pierced through his left arm while his right is achingly malnourished, disgustingly weak; the acrid smell of smoke that fills the air, mixing with the dust raised from the destroyed buildings.
Everything is too familiar, but it makes it easier to go through the motions, to do what needs to be done, to end this fight. Because he does. He knows he does. He knows what it’s like to see Al in his body again. He knows that day is coming where you walk into his life and irrevocably alter it.
Except that, when the time comes to make the trade for Al, he can’t quite remember what he trades. He knows that this is a problem that he’s already solved, but the answer is sitting at the back of his throat, just out of reach.
In that moment of hesitation where his mind blanks, he hears the sardonic laugh that’s taunted him in nightmares for longer than he cares to admit and two things happen.
The first is that Al stands before him, completely healthy, unlike his appearance on that day. He wears a look of concern, confusion, eyes not meeting Ed’s, instead focused on something just behind him.
The second is the scream, terrified and in immense pain. He knows the voice, even if he’s never heard the sound.
He seems to freeze in place, unable to turn and look at you, unable to accept that you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be, that you’re hurt, that something is very, very wrong. It’s the way Al calls out your name, pushes past him to get to you that snaps him out of it, that makes him turn around.
The air surrounding you is purple as metaphysical hands pull at you, unraveling you, mirroring the scene from years ago. Your eyes find his as you reach out, pleading for him to help you, to make the pain stop, to save you.
It’s the breaking of his heart as your hand falls into his just before you’re gone, the aching of his soul at your absence. It’s the immeasurable pain that wakes him, that finally allows for his consciousness to win out, to pull him back to reality where you’re okay and here and 一
You’re not.
You’re not here.
Tumblr media
The sheets cling to him, weighing him down as he jolts up, as he tries to force his eyes to adjust to the darkness in an attempt to find you. Outside of the warmth on your side of the bed一which isn’t comforting given how the summer heat is making everything so damn warm一there’s no indication that you were here.
His throat seems to close and it becomes impossible to breathe, to think. Just as in his dream一at least, he’s desperately hoping it was a dream一his heart is pounding, the sound of his blood pumping the only thing he can hear.
Maybe… maybe you stepped out? You like the heat just as much as he does, and, according to you, he’s a furnace when asleep. That’s a very real possibility. Or maybe you went to the restroom and are about to come back?
Whatever it is, wherever you’ve gone, he feels the nerves building up within him, the need to find you, to ensure that you’re safe and whole. He needs to be proactive, can’t afford to wait. He’s never been good at waiting, at sitting still, even less when the people he loves are at risk.
Potentially.
Assuming that you’re in danger. Which you’re not. You can’t be. There is no danger to be had, not anymore. Right?
Stumbling out of bed, he makes his way out of the room, scanning it once more before opening the door. The bathroom door is open, revealing a dark, empty room devoid of you. He releases a shaky breath and turns to check outside before he hears a faint click! and is faced with his diffused shadow, illuminated by the kitchen light that’s now on just down the hall.
“Ed? What are you doing up?”
Swiveling, he finds you illuminated by that same light, almost creating a glowing halo around your being. You’re leaning against the entryway to the kitchen, tired eyes taking in his appearance. Before he can truly process it, he’s stepping forward, wrapping his left arm around your waist as his right hand cradles the back of your head, pulling you to him, letting him crush you against him.
A puff of air escapes you, surprised by his reaction, but you’re quick to wrap your arms around his middle, quick to offer some kind of relief. His hold on you tightens and you seem to understand his unspoken need for reassurance, for the harsh reminder that you’re here. Mimicking the strength with which he holds you, you press him to you, burying your face in the crook of his neck.
“Wanna talk about it?” you mumble into his skin.
“No—not right now.”
A small nod is all he gets in response and you’re in no hurry to be let go. You wait, as you always do, allowing him to calm down as you hum a nonsensical little melody for him. When his grip starts to loosen, you explain.
“I woke up because it’s hot. I thought you might want a glass of water when you wake, so I came to the kitchen to get it. ‘M sorry, love.”
“Don’t be. You didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just that you di— disappeared in my dream. I panicked,” he replies, unable to even admit that in his dream, you died. It doesn’t matter now, anyway. Not really.
“Oh. Well, I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.” It’s a promise, one he’s heard many times before. “The truth is that you’re stuck with me, Ed.” You press a kiss to his cheek, releasing him to grab the aforementioned glass of water. Offering it, he drinks the water, remembering the conversation you once had about how water helps with panic attacks.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” It’s his truth, the one that harmonizes with yours.

Loki's Absence In Thor: Love and Thunder Hurts The Movie
The Thor universe doesn't feel the same without the staple brotherly relationship storyline it's always been built on.
The newest entry in the Thor franchise has recently been released, and it's a hot topic of discussion for Marvel fans. Thor: Love and Thunder continues the story of the god of thunder as he goes on new adventures and rekindles old loves. Love and Thunder acts as a sort of follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok, as both are directed by Taika Waititi and have similar tones and styles, though the events of Love and Thunder really follow the events of Avengers: Endgame and where Thor's story was left after that film.
Love and Thunder continues Thor's story and sees the return of many of the characters that have become staples in his tale. However, there is one character whose absence is glaringly obvious. Loki has been one of the central players in Thor's story since the beginning, and most of the Thor movies center on their relationship and how they slowly rebuild it throughout each entry. However, Loki's death in the main timeline in Avengers: Infinity War complicated this dynamic. Though the character still exists in a way as a variant (with his own show), he's no longer a part of the main MCU story, at least not yet. It would have been difficult logistically to include Loki in Love and Thunder, but the movie feels lacking for not including him in any way.
Loki is a main character in the Thor series, in the same way that Bucky is central to the Captain America movies and Rhodey is a necessary part of the Iron Man stories. These MCU movies typically have a central cast of characters that differs for each hero, and the tone and general feeling of the movies can change depending on who the characters are. For example, an MCU Spider-Man movie without Ned and MJ simply wouldn't feel like an MCU Spider-Man movie. Likewise, a Thor movie without Loki really doesn't feel like the Thor movies that audiences have come to know and love.
The brotherly dynamic between Thor and Loki is the standout of the first two movies, both of which are seen as kind of underwhelming in their own ways. Their conflict is central to both of those stories and is most interesting dynamic in the movies, especially in contrast to Thor and Jane, which is a relationship that never quite works. Even in Love and Thunder, which manages to improve their chemistry a little bit, their love story still feels rushed and not completely genuine. The absence of Thor having any other meaningful relationships to deal with in the story becomes much more obvious because of this.
Loki is a fan-favorite MCU character, and for a good reason. He always steals the scene and manages to make whatever he’s in more interesting. It would have been nice to somehow have him back in Love and Thunder, and not just for fan-service reasons. The movie’s story could have only been improved if he had been around. Unfortunately, logistically it wouldn’t work with where the MCU is right now story-wise. The only way to do so would be to bring the main character variant Loki from the TV show over into the main timeline, but him having to explain his journey to the audience and to Thor would take up too much time.
This all isn’t to find some way that he could be slotted back in; rather, it’s to point out that the Thor franchise works best when it’s about family. Though Love and Thunder also touches on those themes, it’s missing the family dynamic that has always worked the best in these films.
Tumblr media
The Thor Franchise Cannot Survive Without Loki (& Love and Thunder Proved It)
Thor: Love and Thunder is the hero's first solo outing not to feature the God of Mischief. And Loki is sorely missed from the franchise.
Thor: Love and Thunder is unique among the Thor films because it is the only one not to feature the God of Mischief in any capacity. Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, has been a staple of these films since the beginning. However, since the original version of the character died in Avengers: Infinity War, and an alternate version wanders the multiverse in Loki, it’s understandable that the character doesn’t return for the franchise’s fourth installment.
But one can’t help but feel something is missing without Thor and Loki’s brotherly dynamic. The evolution of their relationship is one of the strongest story threads throughout the first three Phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, without it, Love and Thunder feels a bit empty.
The backbone of the first Thor was built on Thor and Loki. Their relationship formed from the 1000+ years they have spent growing up together. But the revelation that Loki is a frost giant breaks the God of Mischief, as he thinks he could never live up to Odin’s “real” son, Thor. And that sets Loki on a dark path, ostracizing him from his brother and the rest of his family.
However, Thor never gives up on him. Sure, the pair have frequently fought in the MCU, but even after Loki begins his conquest of Earth in The Avengers, Thor’s first action is to implore him to return home as his brother. Even in Thor: The Dark World, the brothers' complicated relationship is a dramatic driving force throughout that film.
But the moment their relationship crescendos is in Thor: Ragnarok. Loki is no longer obsessed with a desire to rule -- he got that wish pretending to be Odin on the throne of Asgard. Instead, he is simply trying to survive. However, the most interesting part of Ragnarok is that after centuries of fighting, Thor and Loki finally start to understand each other.
And just when they finally reach this point, Thanos’ ship attacks, and the Mad Titan kills Loki. It’s a wonderfully tragic end to their relationship. But that’s the problem -- the rest of the story keeps going. Thor could have used his brother's help to fight Gorr or even as a shoulder to cry on about his issues with Jane. Instead, the God of Thunder is without his best friend, and his movie suffers because of it.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had a baby this summer! It was an incredibly joyful time, but also a little scary, because she was born 7 weeks early. I promise, I am going to get to the fandom part of this soon!
During the first week that she was in the NICU, I was seized by this fear that if, God forbid, something happened to her or to me, she wouldn't know how much she was loved. I was desperate for any way to communicate that to her. It was not rational. There were a lot of hormones involved. But it felt so important. It still does.
And so I brought to the NICU @pandamomentum's beautiful bound version of So Wise We Grow, and I read to my daughter from it. This part:
“Do you anticipate having children, someday?” Spock asks suddenly – he is unsure of what prompts him to do so. “It is certainly my wish to do so,” Storek replies, without hesitation. “I have always enjoyed the company of children – you know that I often babysit Lieutenant Uhura’s twins – and when I find a suitable partner, I look forward to revisiting that enjoyment, with children of my own.” Storek arches an eyebrow of his own, and looks at his father. “At which time I will indubitably experience all the agonies to which I have subjected you and Captain Kirk for so many years. Revenge, I suspect, will be most satisfactory for the both of you.” “And the joys,” Spock says, so quietly that Storek must lean forward to catch it. “What?” “I urge you not to forget the joys,” Spock says, still quietly, but with as much feeling as he can muster. “I find, when I think of the events of the past seven years, that they are what first comes to mind.”
I wanted her to know that, 14 years before she was even born, I loved her, and wanted her, and was thinking about what my life with her would be like. She didn't understand the words, of course. But, hopefully, the love came through.
She's doing marvelously now, thank God. And someday, she will understand the words. Fandom gives us many things, and one of the things it's given me is a record of 15 years of my dreams and preoccupations--which, for me, is 15 years of kidfic and stories about characters whose longing for parenthood is central to who they are. (That's not all I wrote about for 15 years! But it's a pretty obvious throughline.) If there comes a time when I'm not around to tell her how much she was wanted and how long she was loved, my past self can tell her over and over and over again.
So, thank you, fandom. Thank you for giving me the stories I read and re-read to keep my spirits up in the hospital. A special thank you to @pandamomentum for making the book that carried my love - yeah, I could have read from my laptop but it wouldn't have been the same. And thank you, fandom, for giving me the tools and the art form and the community that have allowed me to write a record of my heart. ❤️

Jazz in "The Magnificent Six!" Character Analysis
When I completed my read of the Marvel UK Transformers comics, I was blown away by a text story in one of the annuals: "The Magnificent Six!" Not only is it the darkest this continuity ever got in my opinion, but it also recontextualized the personalities and behaviors of the main characters who appear in it, putting all their previous appearances in a different light. This was especially affecting since this story comes right near the end of the entire continuity, so that's years' worth of material that it made me reassess.
"The Magnificent Six!" follows Jazz, Prowl, Wheeljack, Inferno, and Sunstreaker, and how war has changed them. It recounts their experience with attempting to free a neutral town from Decepticon control and how the whole situation goes horribly wrong due to situations largely out of their control, while also exploring the impacts of survivor's guilt. In the present, Optimus unknowingly sends them on a mission to that same place and they are forced to confront and work through their trauma. There's a summary of the events in chronological order here or see the story as it's meant to be read, with multiple perspectives and flashbacks throughout, on 🏴‍☠️ websites just by searching, "transformers UK annual read online" and selecting the second-to-final annual.
Content warning: this story includes sadistic torture on top of its other dark themes, and I'll have to make reference to the disturbing content.
In this post, I want to break down how this story made me see Jazz—one of my favorite transformers—differently, and why I think this is such an interesting and effective backstory for him. Something to note about "The Magnificent Six!" is that despite Prowl having been the leader of the titular team, Jazz is the central focus. He gets a flashback to himself, Megadeath (the Decepticon leader they face in the story, particularly sadistic and zealous even for Decepticons) attacks him first, he is the one to tell the whole truth of what happened to Silverbolt, and his words close out the story.
Tumblr media
Hint: the Autobot you don't recognize who's standing on the hill is the one who didn't survive
Jazz's Characterization
Tumblr media
Jazz's characterization in the rest of this continuity is similar to the way he is in the Sunbow cartoon... at least, on the surface it is. He loves Earth culture, especially music and dancing! He's really good at improvising! He tries to be positive when he talks to people! But he can also be kind of hard to read. There are some less obvious things about Jazz's character as well. There's another annual story I've posted in full that seems to indicate that while being pleasant on the surface, Jazz internally judges the people around him. He gets antsy when he's stuck in one place too long.
Tumblr media
And at his core, he seems to want to just soak in the sights and appreciate life quietly without war or other people around.
Tumblr media
Jazz meets a deer!
Jazz is very eager to try diplomacy as a strategy, and in an early story, secures a fuel source this way.
Tumblr media
I bet Jazz learned about capitalism by listening to "Material Girl"
However, while Jazz is depicted excitedly absorbing human culture, he doesn't necessarily feel like he understands humans or that he's understood in turn. While he interacts with humans, there is often a distance in those interactions.
Tumblr media
Jazz was sometimes drawn with triangular eyes under his visor that make him look old and depressed
Jazz also sometimes comes across as being deadened to violence. I remember in one annual comic, he shoots at Starscream and ends up killing a human villain Starscream had abducted, and Jazz never thinks about or talks about it afterward.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In one of his early interactions with humans, he also didn't seem to register that preventing Sparkplug and Buster from running out of the Ark with a flamethrower might hurt them in any way.
A calm also applies to when violence is inflicted upon him: in the Target: 2006 story arc, when he's captured and tortured by Galvatron, he's very calm throughout until the end, when he just laughs at the turn of events.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that Galvatron gives a long speech about his origin and fight against Unicron and Jazz's reaction was just to be like, all right, guess that's one less thing I have to worry about LMAO
Speaking of Galvatron, in this continuity, there's an alternate universe in which Unicron ate Cybertron and Galvatron was conquering Earth for him. In that reality, Jazz ended up as one of only three survivors (Jazz, Prowl, and Inferno... hey, also all members of the Magnificent Six lol) and when he was about to face Galvatron in a last stand he believed was suicidal, his dialogue revealed a lot about his character.
Tumblr media
All of these traits I've mentioned will be explored in "The Magnificent Six!"
Jazz in "The Magnificent Six!"
In the opening of the story we Jazz from a unique perspective. The first notable thing is that we learn who he was back before Optimus Prime became a leader. Jazz was a freedom fighter who went around liberating territory from Decepticon rule. Not only that, but because this first flashback begins from the perspective of a Decepticon guard (Steamhammer, said to have been a killer even before the War), we get a rare glimpse into what the Decepticon perspective on Jazz was back then. It sounds like he was one of the most dreaded and hated of the Autobots!
Tumblr media
And the reputation appears to be well-earned. Jazz in the past here seems noticeably different in personality—he comes across as hot-headed and more of a leader. Notice how unsure the supposed leader of this team, Prowl, comes across in this flashback, in which he instead looks to Jazz for approval.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later, when we see Jazz's flashback, we get further context into his character, and suddenly his love of other cultures and their media is so bittersweet. In this flashback, he's running over the events in his mind, trying to figure out when everything went wrong. Ultimately, he blames himself for nearly laughing at the offensive joke Sunstreaker told to try and lighten the mood after the citizens' museum was bombed—Jazz believes that's when everything fell apart. So of course he'd be so focused on culture!
Tumblr media
And of course he doesn't speak his mind! His guilt would prevent him from doing so.
Especially given the consequences. For people who haven't read the story, note that I'm going to describe the darkest part now. We get to look into Jazz's mind as he's being tortured, melting to death. Laughing maniacally is his response to being pushed past the brink of despair.
Tumblr media
This is notable because as shown above, when he's captured and tortured by Galvatron millions of years later, he has this exact same reaction!
Essentially, in retaliation for the seven days the team was able to fend off the Decepticons, Megadeath had them tortured for seven days. That included the melting scene. But he only inflicted physical pain upon five of the six—one, Stampede, a beastformer, he left untouched, but forced to watch as his friends were broken mentally and physically. Then, he gave the five disassociating team members to the count of ten to prevent him from executing Stampede in front of them, knowing they were too mentally damaged to even move, making them feel consumed with guilt.
And as if that wasn't enough, he then told them he'd left a nuclear bomb beneath the town they'd tried so hard to save, and they couldn't find it in time before it blew up. They then ran away in shame and feigned amnesia for millions of years.
I recount all this horrific shit because it explains a lot about Jazz as a character. He is a very pleasant person, and is extremely popular—in Target: 2006 a mind-controlled Jazz takes out all the Autobots just because nobody wanted to lay a finger on him!—but he almost never confides emotionally in anyone and has very few close bonds. I believe the loss of his teammate and the way Megadeath twisted the knife gives a lot of insight into why this is—Jazz of course feels the burden of responsibility and works hard to do good, but how could he bear to let people in after all of that? Especially when he blames an expression of pure emotion on all of those traumatic things happening to so many innocent people?
Prowl and Silverbolt
I also want to touch on two of Jazz's dynamics with other characters, ones that are relevant to "The Magnificent Six!"
As can be seen in some of the excerpts above, Prowl is another important character in the story. While many of the most dramatic beats center Jazz, Prowl also gets some of the spotlight. At the end of the story, when the Autobots find the inner strength to face Megadeath again after talking openly about their traumatic past, everyone beats Megadeath nearly to death. However, Prowl finds it within himself to resist a killing blow, because to kill an unarmed opponent is morally wrong. And while this story closes with Jazz's words, it's Prowl who prompts them.
Tumblr media
When I say that Jazz has very few close bonds, Prowl is actually one of those few, probably the most significant one. While reading through the comics I did notice that Jazz shows noticeably more concern for and closeness with Prowl than he does with others (see issues #266 and #268) and also gets uncharacteristically angry with and argues with him in issue #42 (though this doesn't shake their ability to work together—which I feel is also notable). That being said, I didn't think anything of this for quite a while. I had also noticed that Prowl seems to really respect Jazz and defer to him, but I also didn't think that was important because like... who wouldn't respect Jazz? But with the additional context of "The Magnificent Six!" I feel as if this is significant due to the shared trauma and their initial reputation.
Tumblr media
It's actually very rare to see Jazz be physically close with anybody
This leads me to Silverbolt. Silverbolt is also a significant character in "The Magnificent Six!" because he's the only person sent on the mission who wasn't part of the original team. In fact, he was created on Earth! Because of this, he's the one who pushes hard for the other Autobots to open up about what is keeping them paralyzed with trauma and shame. You can see how he goads Wheeljack and it spurs Jazz into finally seeing that they have to face the truth because it's been eating away at them for millions of years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silverbolt's presence is also what causes Prowl to remember Autobot morality and resist the urge to just kill Megadeath.
Tumblr media
Silverbolt's perspective on opening up to others is informed by his experiences with his fellow Aerialbots, who are as young as he is. Throughout this continuity, Silverbolt spent a lot of time struggling and causing erratic behavior when combined with his teammates, because he kept trying to hide his fear of heights from everyone. But he remembers in "The Magnificent Six!" that he was met with more support than he'd ever had before once he did face the truth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silverbolt is a big proponent of therapy!
"The Magnificent Six!" is what I consider to be the conclusion to a series of comics known as the Earthforce branch of the Marvel UK run, and Jazz, Silverbolt, and Prowl were all members of the Earthforce together, as were the other Autobots on the mission. But I feel Silverbolt being the one to drive the plot forward is particularly significant due to a thematic connection. Previously I mentioned a fight that Jazz and Prowl got into, which happened early in the UK run—Prowl and his supporters called on Optimus Prime to use the Matrix to give life to Autobot super soldiers and just crush the Decepticons in order to prevent more casualties. Jazz and his supporters said that would be immoral and that there was no way they'd have enough fuel for those super soldiers when they barely had enough for themselves.
Tumblr media
Optimus was incredibly distraught by this argument but came down firmly on the side of not using the Matrix for such things. ...At least, for a little bit, until he reconsidered after Megatron reemerged. Optimus went back on his original decision and made the Aerialbots. Perhaps Optimus's guilt over using the Matrix in this fashion caused him to be exceedingly harsh toward the young bots multiple times throughout this continuity, seemingly having little faith in their abilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think there's something especially resonant about one of the people who was created as a result of that disagreement being the one who ended up giving them the support they needed to face their own traumatic past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BFFs share laughter as a coping strategy for dealing with the most painful moments in life!
Conclusion
While I get the sense that this may change, particularly with the new Skybound comics featuring Jazz and showing more of his friendship with Cliffjumper which has its source in the Sunbow cartoon, I don't feel like we've ever had this much of a window into Jazz's past and such a deep look at his personality and relationships. I don't think that any future content needs to be this dark, but I hope that as much attention is given to Jazz in the future! As it is, I think this is some of the most compelling material Jazz ever had.

SDP40F in Phase II Paint
I assume this unit is from the initial batch of SDP40Fs from La Grange—beyond its fairly low number, it has the more complicated sheet metal work on the nose. (Later ones had a simplified design, with a flat section where the access door is located.)
The reason this locomotive is looking so marvelous—in Phase II paint—is that it has just come out of the Illinois Central Paducah shops after being refurbished. Too bad that the entire fleet of this model would be taken out of service later this very year or early the next due to a mysterious problem that caused it to derail with enough regularity that it was untenable.
The problem *may* have been due to large water tanks which were needed for the steam generator. (This locomotive was designed to haul legacy equipment that still used steam heat.) There's also a question about a newly designed truck. In any event there's never been a definitive reason for the issue. The engines would be returned to EMD which recycled some components in the manufacture of the F40PH for Amtrak; some of the units were reworked into freight locos that ran for the ATSF.

ok so i revisited my spidersona design and gave it a bit of a redo (first iteration here)
Tumblr media
more info under the cut!
i felt like in the first version they looked too much like a child because of the style, so i decided to try a more ✨ shapey ✨ one
here’s the gist of the backstory:
spidergoose was bitten by a goose that was bitten by a radioactive spider. so they have all the spidey powers as well as the ability to communicate with geese and essentially command them to attack someone lol imagine going to central park and you see a horde of geese suddenly taking off and you're like "ah yes, spidergoose is calling" xD (i had to google if there are geese in central park for this one and yes there are! and there’s also resident canada geese there? that’s marvellous, my fave kind)
spidergoose is low-key obsessed with the spot, following him around and encouraging him in his monologuing
they're a bit of an anti-hero, being selective with what kinda vigilante work they do and when. the police don’t see them as an ally at all, even less so than the real spiderman (spidergoose is from miles’ universe btw, so e-1610)
teaming up with (miles’) spiderman is rare but it has happened; mainly because spidergoose was nearby when the fight took place and had nothing better to do anyways. they have pretty fun banter.
age and real identity are unknown. they use a voice modifier under the mask which makes them sound a little distorted (think storm trooper helmet voice, but not quite as deep)
they’re unaware of the whole canon event and spider society stuff. spidergoose lies somewhere between chaotic neutral and chaotic evil, so miguel definitely doesn’t want them around; he’s already got too much on his plate lol he does keep tabs on spidergoose tho, sending in some of his spiderpeeps to check in on them from time to time
i’m gonna go ahead and establish that star wars exists in this universe, just so i can say that spidergoose likes appearing behind people and go “hello there”, and is very disappointed when someone doesn’t get the reference
but ofc their tagline still is "noot noot motherfluffer" before round-house kicking someone in the head c:
often spidergoose can be found chilling on some building talking to geese and birds, having a preference for the aquatic ones though. if they find you feeding bread to the birds, they will scold you and give you seeds and peas instead, as bread isn’t healthy for the birds and water
(i’ll keep adding stuff to this as i come up with it lol)

STUCKY HALLOWEEN: SIGN UPS OPEN NOW!
RULES | BADGES | YOUR TREAT (or trick?) | SIGN UP | DISCORD
Stucky Halloween is an incredible opportunity to create Stucky fanfic and fanart surrounding the supernatural, the scary, or the unexplainable.
Your stories or fanart can range from innocent campfire ghost stories to full on horror. We welcome scaredy-cats and horror-lovers alike.
This year's theme: NATURE. Your work should feature nature as an important theme.
Nature is “the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth as opposed to humans or human creations. The physical force regarded as causing and regulating these phenomena.”
We hope this gets your Steve & Bucky gears turning toward subject matter and storylines you may not have thought to include in your fanfic or art before!
