“LOKI” MARVEL STUDIOS LEGENDS EPISODES COMING SOON TO DISNEY+

Just ahead of the release of the second season of Marvel Studios “Loki” on Disney+, two new episodes of “Marvel Studios Legends” will be released on Disney+ on Friday, 29th September 2023. Expect these episodes to also be released on YouTube, as Disney has recently started releasing previous episodes for free.

Marvel Studios’ “Legends” celebrates what has come before as viewers prepare to head deeper into the ever-expanding universe. Revisit the epic heroes, villains, and moments setting the stage for future events as they unfold. Explore the stories of characters like Loki, The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Peter Quill, Rocket, Nick Fury, and more as they travel across Earth, the cosmos, and assorted timelines.

Here are the details on the two new episodes of Marvel Studios Legends:

“Variants”

Who is Loki? Is he a raven-haired chap in a green suit with a penchant for deception and depravity? Is he instead a she with blonde hair who prefers to be called Sylvie? Or could Loki actually be an overly sensitive alligator with golden horns and a taste for cats? Truth be told, Loki is all of the above — thanks to the existence of numerous Variants. Okay… so what exactly is a Variant? This episode of LEGENDS holds the answer to that critical question, and more. A Variant is an individual that doesn’t belong to the so-called “sacred timeline,” and thus hails from a kind of alternate reality where there might exist a very different version of Loki, or someone called Mobius, or Renslayer, or Kang. Still having trouble making sense of it all? Fear not, LEGENDS has got you covered!

“TVA”

There is a “sacred timeline” — a timeline that must be protected at all costs. And let’s hope that you and I are a genuine part of it. For if not, we might one day be visited by agents of the TIME VARIANCE AUTHORITY — agents who will be obligated to “prune” us and banish us to a nightmarish world that resides in perpetual isolation at the absolute end of time. LEGENDS explores the mysterious origins of the TVA, and sifts the fact from the fiction. Are the Time-Keepers truly a trio of godlike beings responsible for the TVA’s creation? Or, could they merely be artificial figureheads meant to obscure the identity of some flesh-and-blood mastermind possessing secrets both dark and ancient? This episode of LEGENDS holds every answer.

For reasons currently passing my understanding, Marvel put this video, which they originally released just prior to Multiverse of Madness, on their YouTube today.

The manner of selective rehashing, leaving out key context or completely re-contextualizing, historicizing Wanda’s behavior to a point where it feels like straight up lying… It should have worried me more at the time. I was blinded by excitement. Little did I know.

But you know what it reminded me of? Steve Orlando’s legendary behavior.

At the same time this came out, Marvel/Infinity Comics released a “Who is…” issue for America & Wanda both. (Orlando wrote Wanda’s.) Based on how those went for all the other recent pre-MCU-premiere releases—Namor, Shuri, the Eternals, etc—he was probably supposed to do exactly what that video did. “Whatever you have to do. Convince them she’s evil. Make this movie make sense.”

Thing is, she’s broken the world for her family before in comics—he had tons of material to draw from. He could’ve done it—Fairly Easily at that. He’d have had an easier time than the MCU editors who made that video.

But he refused.

He hit the point in Wanda’s history, the Avengers: Disassembled & House of M era, and he just made a blanket statement of “And then… Darkness. Loss.” And SKIPPED TO CHILDREN’S CRUSADE.

Maybe it was out of selfishness: “I’m going to safeguard MY Wanda going into HER new comic series, and we’re gonna separate her from this MCU stuff as much as possible, no matter what you say.” But I’d like to think it was more than that.

I’d like to think he skipped those storylines because they were bad. Because they themselves were based on a false premise—Wanda “remembering” the boys, that they had been killed/taken, and going mad, even though in reality, she had remembered them & processed that trauma in a storyline 10 yrs prior (which Brian Michael Bendis apparently either forgot, didn’t know about, or ignored). Because he refused to continue to build her character on those false pretenses. Because he decided to give her the context she deserves.

But also, I’d like to think they asked him to lie. And he said, “No. I don’t think I will. This movie doesn’t make sense. She isn’t that person. She’s this person. She was poorly written for a time, but she was put through hell and fundamentally, she’s a person who survives the end of her world over and over & keeps deciding to be a hero, no matter what horrific loss she endures. So I’m not gonna help you clean up this mistake. She deserves better than that. And so does everyone who loves her.”

Whether he said those things or not… I felt his defiance. And I hope he knows—we saw him. And we appreciate what he did—or rather, what he refused to do.

Summary: You were acquainted to Shaun in a very unexpected way. It was on a bus, you were exhausted from a long day at work. As you miss your stop due to your slumber, the young man proposes something to your half-awake self. This leads to the start of something life changing. ______________________________________________________________

The first time you met Shaun was quite... interesting, to say the least. You could barely remember that faithful day. You were so tired, he had to wake you up during the bus ride to make sure you didn't miss your stop. He sat next to you every day, even though you were a complete stranger to him. He did know one thing about you, though; your bus stop. He tried to wake you up before the stop, but it was too late: you slumbered on the public transport too much. As he was tapping your shoulder, you finally woke up from your nap, still half-asleep.

"Hey, uh... you kind of missed your bus stop..." he tells you quielty, which immediately wakes you up. As you look around, realizing that you did indeed miss your bus stop, you whisper to yourself: "Oh, for fuck's sake." The young man closes his phone and proposes a solution to you. "If you want, my stop is not far from yours and you could sleep at my place tonight. I have a spare bed and I could drive you home tomorrow morning." Barely awake and exhausted from your day at work, you reply in the most subtle manner known to man, but somehow loud enough for Shaun to hear. "Yeah, sure, that sounds great." you yawn, as you rest on his shoulder.

You wake up to the sound of birds singing and to the smell of crackling bacon. You stand up, still in yesterday's clothes and try to recognize the room you're currently situated in: it's completely unkown to you. You decide to get out of bed and head for the stairs when you suddenly hear footsteps: it's the boy from yesterday.

"Oh, hey, I didn't know you were awake. I was going to have breakfast. You're welcome to join if you want." he says, not realizing he's literally shirtless in front of you. You took a quick second to admire his amazing body before you nod in agreement. As he walks to his room, you interrupt him: "Hey, uh, I never got to thank you" you say as he quickly turns around and smiles at you. "Oh, it's no problem, really. By the way, I never got your name." Realizing you were never officially acquainted, you giggle nervously. "Ah, yeah... uh... I'm Y/N." As he heads to his room, he replies: "I'm Shaun. Nice to meet you."

Shaun notices as you anxiously eat breakfast. "You ok?" he asks, concerned. "Oh, it's nothing. I was just wondering how I ended up here. I have like, no idea what happened yesterday." you explain while stumbling over your words. "Ah, I see." he says after taking a bite. "Well, you fell fast aleep on the bus. I didn't want to wake you up, so I picked you up. I also got your stuff" he explains as he points to your bag lying on the couch. "You picked me up... like... damsel in distress style?" you ask, smiling like a complete idiot, hiding your cheek. "Yeah.", he replies softly, blushing, earning a little laugh from you. He continues explaining: "After that, I put you to bed and made sure you were as comfortable as possible." he says while slightly hiding his face. You thank him before standing up and asking where the bathroom is. He points to a door as you head that way.

You thank Shaun for the night and the ride as you arrive to your place.

"Hey, maybe we can hang out when I'm fully conscious sometime." you propose while smirking.

"Yeah, that sounds great." he answers. "Do you have a phone number?"

"Yeah, I do." you say before spelling it out as he notes it down on his phone.

"Thanks, Shaun." you thank him again after kissing his cheek. "See you later!"

"Bye, Y/N!"

When you close the door behind you, he whispers to himself:

"Shit, I think I'm in love."

"Hey." you say awkwardly as you open the door.

"Hey." he replies as awkwardly.

You both chuckle before he comes into your place, handing you flowers. "Shaun... you shouldn't have." you say while smiling like an idiot. Shaun chuckles and kisses you on the forehead. You've been gashlighting yourself into believing you didn't have a crush on him until today. Now, you fully embrace it. "I love you, Shaun." you whisper to him. He smiles. "I love you too." he responds holding both of your shoulders gently. "Also, call me Shang-Chi." You run through his hair before sharing a kiss. You pull away slowly. "Movies?" you ask with a slight smirk. "Movies." Shang-Chi says, chuckling.

You fell alseep on his shoulder during the movies. This reminds him of the time you first met, on that bus. As he holds your hand, he whispers to your slumbering self.

"I love you, Y/N. I always did and I always will."

Two new Loki-centric Marvel Studios: Legends episodes centering on Loki will begin streaming on Disney+ on September 29th.

Marvel Studios is getting ready to release the second season of Loki on Disney, and it will be the next significant chapter of The Multiverse Saga.
