More Heroes Enter the Fray in Marvel Action: Chillers #3
Marvel Action: Chillers #3 will bring more heroes into the fray as this chilling (and fun) tale continues. This is the second to last issue of the series, but at least it has been a fun ride up until now.
So far, fans have had a chance to see a new take on several different heroes. Iron Man, Ironheart, Doctor Strange, Captain America, and…
This is another cool Black Panther based comic that’s mostly geared towards the Middle Grade reader. But, if you’re a Black Panther fan, it’s a fun read too.
It’s mostly about T’Challa and his sister Shuri. Every 10 years Wakanda’s ruler has to switch places with one of their subjects. T’Challa finds himself working in a Vibranium refinery (the Wakanda metal that is so very amazing). Of course, it’s not straightforward. Someone falls ill (and that sends Shuri on a cool quest) and, there’s even an underground plot to sell Vibranium on the black market too.
The art is awesome, and, the story has all the fun adventure that most Black Panther comics do. A great read.
rereading marvel action rn and… yeah marvel action might have the only good depiction of a peter-gwen-miles friendship.
main comics continuity peter, miles and gwen are marketed as a trio but they’re not friends. they never hang out out of costume, have little in common, and there’s always this tension where miles and gwen are expected to fluff peter up and it’s only a matter of time before one of the guys tries to flirt with gwen. they’re coworkers, peter is the manager miles and gwen are both friendly with, and they end up on the same shift sometimes and that’s it.
marvel action trio actually earns this title. they actually hang out when they’re not in costume. they get food together. they have a study group. they have in-jokes and friendly rivalries and disputes where two corners of the triangle pit against the third. they have a group chat. peter gets to be the leader of the group but miles and gwen never have to kowtow about how special he is, they call him on his crap and always have their own moments to shine. gwen gets to acknowledge that she’s treated differently because she’s a girl and the guys never hit on her. part of it’s that they’re all high schoolers in this continuity but tbh i think the real trick is that all three of them get equal focus and a pov in the story, with their own problems, schools and supporting casts (that we hardly see, but the point of the book is their trio dynamic, so naturally we’re gonna focus on that). there’s an actual organic chemistry between the characters and they’re a true trio, not peter and his hype men who he occasionally treats well. like if we really have to make gwen the Girl of the trio, THIS is how you do it.
Mystery and Monsters Abound in Marvel Action: Chillers #2
Marvel Action: Chillers #2 officially brings us to the halfway mark of this series, leaving us only two more adventures. On the bright side, it is a series that has brought several surprise team-ups as more heroes come into the fray.
This four-part miniseries is set to tell four chilling Marvel tales, bringing in as many heroes, if not…
say it with me everybody: personal health is completely immaterial to morality, including mental health. leading a mentally unhealthy lifestyle (or what you perceive as a mentally unhealthy lifestyle) does not a bad person make. no one has to socialize, exercise, have healthy coping mechanisms, or lead (what you perceive as) a fulfilling life with fulfilling hobbies in the same way that no one has to go to the doctor to get a broken bone reset. both of those types of management of personal health are likely to be beneficial to the individual, but they are in no way moral requirements or debts owed to society. they do not actually say anything about a person's principles, personality, or actions towards others. additionally, people know themselves and their own situations better than you do. maybe a person judges that the physical and financial toll of going to the doctor outweigh the benefit of getting their bone reset, maybe a person just does not have the capacity to develop healthy coping mechanisms at this point in their life, and yes, maybe a person feels like they are totally fulfilled by "media based" hobbies alone and would feel no difference in their life if they picked up a loom. just like. let people be sick without accusing them of being representative of the lazy, degenerated state of modern society.
