New hc: The thunder was a reminder to Poseidon that Zeus could easily do to Sally and Percy what he did to Maria Nico and Bianca.

Do you ever think about how in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Poseidon offered Sally Jackson palace at the bottom of the sea to keep her safe but she turned it down. Hades offered to take Maria Di Angelo and her kids to the Underworld to protect them but she turned it down. then Zeus offered nothing to Beryl Grace but she would have taken it. there's something to be said there, it's definitely interesting but it's late and I'm tired.

One of my favorite things that could potentially come out of Nico being implied to be guaranteed immortality after he dies is, knowing how he is, there is a non-zero chance he could die defending his friends.
Which means you could totally have a scene where Nico is killed in a fight protecting his loved ones, and they see he is dead. Everyone is 100% certain he is dead, because he is. But then he just gets back up. And absolutely wrecks shit. Because he just entered phase two of his boss battle and he’s a GOD NOW.
I just need everyone to picture that scene. Imagine it in your mind’s eye. Good. Enjoy that.

Could you imagine that it wasn’t Percy Nico learned curse words from, it was Hades?
Please note that I base all my Hades raising the di angelo siblings from this fic right here. In case I put in the wrong link (again), it's fic where Hades, Maria, and Persephone were all their parents and they never drank from the river Lethe. But they still stayed in the Lotus Hotel and Maria still died.
(8 year old) Baby Nico: Fuck!
Everyone:
Hades: Where did he even- *looks at Zagreus*
Zagreus: IT WASN'T ME! I SWEAR IT WASN'T ME!
Hades:
Persephone:
Zagreus: Why me?!?! Bianca is right there! *points to Bianca*
Bianca: I didn't do it
Hades: She said she didn't do it.
Zagreus: \(ಠ⌓ಠ)/
Persephone: Nico, Nico, bambino. We- we don't say that. That's a very bad word.
Nico: But papa says it all the time
Everyone:
Hades: (⊙︿⊙ )
Persephone: Is that so...?
Nico: Mhm. He says it all the time to Achilles and Zaggy!
Hades: (⊙︿⊙ )
Persephone: Ooooooouuuh. Maria's gonna be maaaad.
Castle shakes a bit:
Everyone:
Persephone: ...WELP! Come on, piccoli. Let's get you two to bed.
Bianca: Aww, but we're not sleepy.
When they're gone:
Maria's ghost: HAAADDDEEEEEEEEEESSSS
Hades: Cazzo

Sally Jackson and Maria Di Angelo both turned down riches and a palace, but Beryl Grace and Marie Levesque both died in the pursuit of that opportunity.
The only thing a god can't ever provide for a mortal lover is what they need.

The Di-Angelo cold case becomes something of a true crime phenomenon. A well to do Italian family suddenly moves to the US, not odd in itself considering the times but only the two children and the mother have passports and immigration records despite photos that include a mysterious father figure who is never named, not even on the childrens birth certificates or the estates records.
The mother is struck by lightning in DC and her funeral and headstone are paid for by an anonymous donor. The kids are sent to a private school in DC, also paid for by an anonymous donor, but then they just disappear a few months in and there’s no further record of what happened to them. Missing posters circulated for a while but people forget about two missing orphans in the midst of World War II.
Some theories the mysterious father was in the Italian mafia or a high member of Mussolini’s inner circle and reclaimed the children secretly, some think the kids were kidnapped for ransom money, and some crazy theories swear the kids were spotted decades later, still children somehow, in Maine.

So you’re telling me Maria di Angelo, daughter of an Italian diplomat, probably grew up among the high society of Venice, saw a sassy funky little goth dude walking around one day and said… “yeah. imma tap that.”
…seems legit to me. Good for you girlie

Give me a scene where Persephone begrudgingly teaches Nico some plant magic, a scene where he's absolute ass at it, a scene where Persephone scoffs and wonders why she bothers, a scene where Nico doesn't give up, even though a part of him sneers at the attempt.
Give me a scene where Hades picks Nico up to run an errand and wonders why his son stares at the dirt, a scene where Persephone curiously watches the demigod try over and over again, a scene where it works: a little daisy.
Give me a scene where Nico is crying as more daisies pop up around him because he's so used to death around him, he really thought he was never going to be capable of giving life.
Give me a scene where Persephone softly chides him for thinking like that because in reality he already had given life before, so many times — to that boy who wouldn't have plunged himself into the Styx if it weren't for Nico, to that girl who would have known nothing beyond the fields she roamed, to demigods from both camps alike. Throughout his time in the mortal world, all Nico has done is given life.
Give me a scene where Nico gifts bouquets to Hazel, Reyna, and Hestia, a scene where Nico runs a little flower shop with Meg and Apollo is their most generous patron, a scene where Nico braids flowers into Annabeth's corsage before her wedding with Percy.
Give me a scene that parallels the grass that wilted by Nico's feet when he's grieving for Jason, a scene where beautiful, resplendent honeysuckles, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, and gardenias bloom at the steps of Elysium when Nico reunites with Bianca, with his mother, with Jason, with everyone he missed in the mortal world.
Give me a scene where Persephone muses that even in death, Nico brought life, something that shouldn't have been possible. Then again, she thinks, anything was possible for the son of Hades whose love was so strong it brought the dead back to life.

hey so
has anyone thought about Hades's "Ask me for sanctuary. If Kronos is out there you're not safe. Ask me for sanctuary and I'll protect you, and your mom." (not a direct quote) and how that relates to how he couldn't save Maria? Like, Sally was part of the deal immediately. Because he knows. He knows what it is to watch a child's mother die in front of them. Because I'm thinking about it.
Mark my words, friends. There will be a call back to that conversation when we find out what happened to the di Angelos. Calling it now.

I had the weirdest and silly idea and I was a bit worried if I should share, but this is Tumblr so....
You know when some mothers playful say to their babies 'oh! You are so cute! I could just eat you!' and stuff like this?
Imagine if one of the original Olympians (Kronos's kids)'s lover said it?
The Olympian in question:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probally Maria since they had a second kid, so they have a longer relationship and most likely interacted with the kids as babies/toddlers
Maria: I wasn't serious, Hades! It was just baby-talk!
Hades, holding little Nico after snatching him off her arms: WHO JOKES ABOUT THAT KIND OF THING?

Why Hades Likes Bianca More Than Nico...
Hades, in front of Baby Nico: Come now, Niccoló. Pa-pa. Pa-pa
Baby Nico: *stares at him and blinks*
Hades: Pa-pa. Pa-pa
Baby Nico: *giggles and flails around*
Maria: Oh, Hades, be patient. Niccoló is far too young to be speaking
Hades, playing with Nico's hands: Bianca was already calling for us when she was 9 months old. Niccoló is already 9 months old. I'm simply letting him hear what his first words should be. Pa-pa
Maria: Just because Bianca's first words were Papa, does not mean it should also be Nico's. How do you know his first words wont be Mama?
Hades: Well, it could also be so.
Maria: *rolls her eyes*
Hades, calling Bianca over: Come here, angioletta.
Bianca: *goes over*
Hades, to Nico: Niccoló, this is your sorella, Bianca. So-rel-la. Pa-pa. Ma-ma
Baby Nico: *stares, blinks, then laughs*
After some time:
(10th month old) Baby Nico, on his high chair: *waiting for food* Mama.
Maria:
Hades:
Bianca:
Maria: Oh, Niccoló, you just said your first words! I'm so proud of you.
Bianca: YEY! NICO SAID MAMA!
Hades: Very good, little one! Now, say Pa-pa. Pa-pa
Baby Nico, looking over at Bianca: *points to her* Iya
Bianca: *gasp* Nico say Bia!
Baby Nico, looking at Bianca: *laughing*
Hades: Niccoló, say pa-pa. Pa-pa.
Baby Nico: Mama
Hades: Papa
Baby Nico: Mama
---Present Time---
Hades:
Nico:
Bianca:
Nico: That's it?! You favor Bianca over me cuz I refused to say Papa when I was 10 months old?!?!
Hades: It's not that you didn't say it, it's that you weren't able to say it until you were 16 months old.
Bianca: Right, cuz that absolutely makes it all the more reasonable.

been daydreaming of a scenario where nico is turned into a kid while he and a few others r on a quest and they get into danger and nico just smiling staring at the threat and everyone is like WHAT R U DOING and then child!nico just casually be ripping hearts out with a smile
yes nico being innocent and pure is great however comma. i think hades children deserve to be unhinged from birth. as a treat. make zues scared yknow
Hades taught his children self-defense bc he knows that the monsters, or worse: his brothers, would come to get them sooner or later.
He is a paranoid parent, and oversensitized courtesy of years of overlooking the torturing procedures in the Fields of Punishment. He did not take in account that the 'self-defense' he taught would somehow be viewed as, well, illegal from a non-divine's perspective. He said "well the brain and the heart are their weaknesses. just go for it!" and there they went. Hades was technically right.
Maria thought they were still on their Halloween spree. She didn't see anything wrong in indulging a little horror. After all, she had kids with the lord of the dead, who is she to tell them off anw. Her children would be fineeee.
Yeah they're fine. Nico and Bianca are totally fine.
The monsters, well, not so much?

nico di angelo: nico who is actually niccolò, a name he uses rarely, quietly, carefully. something not everyone can say, nor grasp the importance of. niccolò di angelo, son of an italian woman, brother of an italian girl, grandson of an italian man and diplomat: blood as red and vibrant as caravaggio’s death of the virgin flows through his veins, his complexion carries the faint memory of olives and the liquid they produce, a memory of where he comes from, of home. niccolò: a name of most significant power and presence, owned by many before him. before niccolò di angelo there was niccolò “ugo” foscolo, before niccolò foscolo there was niccolò machiavelli: a legacy of writers, poets who made history with the sole movement of their hand holding a quill. he, too, will carry their memory, spread his word about the generations that led to his existence. he will see the sun shining bright in the sky and bask in the light and warmth it brings, because who is he if he doesn’t appreciate the pieces of home that follow him wherever he goes? he will look at the night sky and think of galileo, of leopardi’s poems, and he will remember the loud laughter of his mamma and the tight embraces of his nonna. he will make food for his loved ones with all the passion and affection his heart can carry and, for an instant, be brought back to that one tiny, hidden street, now long forgotten, in venice, where his home once stood, and in that instant he will reminisce and smile at the consciousness that he carries his own bloodline and origins with him, always.
