oh my god I'm a bit nervous writing this, but hi. my name is nova and I was the anon who thought that safety net was such an inspiring piece (which it is!). I used to be part of a toxic friend group who prized their friend group's self esteem and mental health over mine (even though back then I would have done anything for them), and they sparked my consciousness in my "not stick skinny" body type. I kind of spiraled from there with extra insecurity, weight, and even did my best to skip breakfast and lunch at school so I wouldn't gain more weight. A lot of the insecurity ended after I left that group, and quarantine has helped me grow into myself, but I just find Safety Net to be so amazing because it touches on something that I went through! thank you for being such a versatile author!! <3

i’m sorry you had to go through that. i do believe that the way we view things are greatly affected by the environment we’re exposed to. This includes but no limited to your group of friends, families, religions, cultures, and social media. it’s like we grow up believing that we need to gain everyone’s approval in order to become happy, to become contented with ourselves but that’s not how this works. However, the struggles we dealt with make us who we are now and i think that’s what matters the most. It takes a lot of courage to cut off toxic people in your life. With that said, you’re so strong and I’m proud of you! Everyone deserves to be happy and so do you.
