😍 A year on I still regularly get sent photos of people with the mural I painted by the seaside in Ramsey (which I love ❤) though this is the first animal photo! 🐾 Painting this mural, the way dogs reacted to the big painted cats was interesting - and sometimes VERY noisy. Some were excited by them, some barked & tried to chase them, some tried to say hello with wagging tails & others seemed oblivious to their existence! Fear has gone = this smile! 😁❤ I faced a fear & cuddled a very friendly goose. My expression didn't look like this to begin with 😂 though this beautiful creature changed all that! I had no idea how much geese can bond with humans & how affectionate & loyal they are. Here are three examples of Manx tartan, you can probably guess which one connects most with my AFRIOM Portraits? 🇮🇲 The first is Laxey Manx Tartan (current national), second is the old Manx National Tartan & the third is Manx Hunting Tartan. Alongside my Mackenzie clan Scottish heritage I have links to the Isle of Man going back generations. 💕Creating cats!🐾These cats got barked at by dogs once fully painted - I did apologise to their owners! One little girl came especially to stroke each cat on the end whilst I was painting the mural. 💕The cats also surprised a number of passersby who thought they were real until they got close up! 💕 💕These similar looking cats hundreds of years apart are pretty big. Painting Affrica! ❤ History was made in our general election yesterday with a RECORD number of WOMEN ELECTED & TWO constituencies with ALL FEMALE representatives! 💕 I was going to post a video of painting one of the mural cats today but with such special news this video of Affrica being created was a must. ❤ 💕If you're familiar with my art you'll know I celebrate through art & that strong women are a regular theme along with heritage & connection. This video shows part of a promenade shelter I recently painted featuring the 12th century Queen of Mann, Affrica of Galloway. ❤ When I found out about Affrica & researched, I discovered there was little information about her which made me want to celebrate her visually even more and share her story! 💕Affrica has a modern woman named Fenella on the other side of the shelter from her, Fenella is in the same pose with modern clothing featuring the same colours & similar pattern - hundreds of years apart though they are connected. 😍💕❤ 🖌Why such a small paintbrush at times on such a big painting?
