Comfort
Here’s a continuation of the lover’s quarrel going on over here.
[Docs] —
All of the air leaves the room when Benjin storms out in his rage, leaving Mallum to throw himself on the couch, deflated. The minute exchange of looks between Veylin and Zurven tells him which quad he will be responsible for looking after.
Veylin follows on the heels of her moirail.
Silence quickly settles between the two that remain in the living room, a silence that Zurven very quickly decides that he does not like. It would be his first time experiencing this sort of heavy silence while in the company of this particular partner.
He prefers his useful boisterous demeanor.
It isn’t as though his own anger for the situation doesn’t weigh heavily on his chest, as if he didn’t have half a mind to swallow back all of the trust he’d poured into him and hole himself in the room until Ben and Vey get back. It’s second nature to run from problems, and ridiculously easy.
But that wouldn’t be fair.
He sighs and sits on the couch next to Mallum, now sitting with his own head in his hands.
“Mal,” Zurven says softly, softer than he expected.
Now worried that he might lose the nerve to talk about it, he fixes his attention on the wall across from them instead. When Mallum doesn’t answer, he sighs again.
“I was… I am so vulnerable with you. I haven’t kept anything from you in a long time.” Suddenly realizing his own hands are too idle, he begins to tap them rhymically on his thighs. “I wish you would do the same.”
There is more silence and Zurven finds the fear that they’ve already lost Mallum constricting around his throat, burning his lungs.  This can’t be what kills the trust, that idea tightens and becomes a ball in his stomach.
No way.
“I don’t like getting my news the way that Orfuse did.” He chokes out the second the thought enters his mind. The vision left a bad taste in his mouth, Zerkev’s wrath burned through him white hot. He flexes his fingers as the memory of the trident lingers between them.
At least it wasn’t Harlan. The smug satisfaction might have been enough to kill him.
Zurven blinks the dredges of the vision out of his mind and turns his head to finally look at Mallum again.
Mallum sits there, staring at his own hands, with tears spilling out of his eyes. The seadweller makes no sound, the cry is a silent one.
“It isn’t like that,” he whispers in a voice smaller than he’d ever been. “It isn’t about being vulnerable,” and it almost sounds like he is trying to convince himself of that more than Zurven.
There is silence again, but Zurven cannot stand to let it settle and instead turns to take Mallum’s hand in his. He leans his head on his tear-eyed partner’s shoulder.
“You’ve been good to us, Mal. And Lopard used to tell me that something like that can’t be one way,” he squeezes his hand. “Even if we need it at different times, or if it’s very different things, it doesn’t work if it’s one way. Will you let us be good to you?”
Mallum says nothing, then hesitates before turning to grasp desperately at Zurven’s arm and folding himself into the smaller troll as much as he can. Zurven wastes no time in wrapping his arms around him and holding him so tightly that anyone would be forgiven if they assumed that the position was the only thing keeping the pair from falling apart.
Mallum chokes out a sob that sounds nearly like an apology, Zurven shakes his head and moves to smooth out his hair.
“When he let us go we didn’t have anything. I had, uhm, I had the least of us all. No life to return to…” He hesitates as he speaks, letting his hand drift over and around Mallums fins in order to ground himself. Vulnerability about this point in his life never comes easy. “Even when Harlan took me, I didn’t care if I died because everything at that point was just… People were good to me, but it wasn’t mine.”
Now it is Mallum’s turn to squeeze, but he still says nothing.
“If I can’t be good to you guys, if you think I can’t hold your bad news for you, then what’s the point?”
Mallum’s shoulders shake in time with his sbos, but beyond that another silence falls over them. This time, Zurven gives him the time to collect himself before speaking again.
He is satisfied with the knowledge that Mallum knows what his safety and comfort means to him, that he understands it was no less important than his own, Vey, or Bens.
He kisses the top of Mallum’s head and mumbles into his hair, “I love you. Can you say something? About anything. You’ve never been this quiet before.”
A second passes before he responds.
“I’ve ruined you, you can’t live without me now.” He says with a small laugh, muffled into Zurven’s shoulder.
Then he pauses and reaches to lace their fingers together and very softly whispers, “I love you too.”

heart has his heart | part 1.
Summary: (Y/N) Heart is chosen alongside her friends to attend Auradon Prep. Of course her friend Mal’s mom, Maleficent, has a much more sinister plan than the kids just attending Auradon. Will they be able to pull of stealing the wand or will (Y/N) find herself liking Auradon a bit too much?
Pairing: Ben x reader
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings: none
(Series Masterlist)
Tumblr media
Curl Up and Dye was where you and your mother often spent your Mother-Daughter Day. Unlike most villains, the Queen and King of Hearts actually cared about their kid— only your dad would never be caught dead in a hair salon, no matter what the special occasion. The Queen was getting her signature curls from Lady Tremaine, she didn’t trust Dizzy to do it.
You on the other hand had no problem letting the young girl do your hair, as long as it was pretty you were satisfied. Any style would do, you figured you looked great in anything, anyway. Hair wasn’t your main focus, it was always the makeup. While you rarely put on a full face something about you always was made up. Whether it was just eyeliner, or just lipstick, or some blush, some part of your face was done.
Evie, The Evil Queen, Mal, and Maleficent came into the salon. It was rare for the two older women to be seen together but ever since Evie joined Mal’s gang, the two learned to tolerate each other. Maleficent stopped right in front of you as Dizzy was putting the final touches.
“Are you ready to go?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” You handed Dizzy a ten-dollar tip for herself.
“You bet your head that my daughter is ready.”
“Haven’t you had enough of heads already?” Queen Grimhilde joked as she admired your mother’s hair.
“I’m just saying our girls will do us proud.”
“To think I’ll have my hands on that wand!” Maleficent said excitedly. “Girls! Do your mothers proud.”
You left the shop with Evie and Mal. You were such an odd sight, the three of you. You and Evie made sense but Mal being so overt with her evil didn’t seem to fit with you guys. You girls met up with Jay and Carlos to go over final plans. You left for Auradon tomorrow.
The five of y’all settled into the back of the limo. You had on your mother’s prized crown. It was the possession you chose to take with you to Auradon. You watched in disgust as Jay and Carlos stuffed their faces with candy and chocolate.
“I know that we’ve never had sweets before but you could at least act dignified?” You asked, delicately picking a sour gummy from the bowl Carlos was holding and popped it into your mouth.
“Sorry we weren’t all raised like you, princess? Some of us peasants had to struggle.”
“Not my fault your dad got tricked into a lamp. You know, forget the sweets. I wonder what street rat taste like.”
Jay rolled his eyes and went back to the candy. You weren’t one to spare anyone from your sarcasm and gripe. You were a royal after all, how else should you conduct yourself? Even the gang was subject to your funny yet sometimes relentless and obnoxious roasting.
“Ooh, M, you’re looking a little washed out. Here let me help you.” Evie applied some blush to Mal’s cheeks but she swatted the hand away.
“Eww, stop. I’m plotting.”
“Well, it’s not very attractive.” The blue-haired girl went back to sucking on her piece of rock salt candy.
Mal pressed a button on some random remote, causing you and Evie to look at the little black panel separating you from the driver roll down. That wasn’t the only thing rolling down, so was the barrier… with no bridge.
“IT’S A TRAP!”
You yelled; but, there was nothing you and the VKs could do but scream. And you kept screaming until you realized that you weren’t plummeting to your death. In fact, you weren’t anywhere near the water. The bridge slowly appeared as the limo kept going.
“Hey, um, did this just open the barrier?” You held up the remote and asked the driver.
“That opens my garage door, this remote opens the barrier.” The driver held up a different remote. “And this…”
He pressed a button that made the partition slide back up, blocking you guys from his sight. You scoffed, did he have manners? Mal turned back around and smiled.
“Ha. Nasty… I like that guy.”
You could hear the music before the limo had even fully pulled into campus. Looks like Auradon Prep pulled out all the stops. You weren’t sure why. If only they knew the five of you weren’t planning on staying too long. You stepped out the car and looked to see the mixture of shock and disgust on the faces of three people in front of you. Two of them you recognized: Fairy Godmother and Prince Benjamin. You followed their gaze to where Jay and Carlos were wrestling over who got to have the stolen electronics from the limo, Jay clearly winning. You weren’t surprised. Mal nudged the two of them and they looked over.
“Hehe, just cleaning up,” Jay said.
“Leave it like you found it… actually, just leave it.”
Jay dropped the equipment, and effectively Carlos, and strolled over to the girl whose name you didn’t know.
“Hey, Foxy. The name’s Jay.”
You had to stop yourself from gagging, five minutes at Auradon and he was already trying to get some. The girl looked him up and down, unimpressed.
Same sister, you thought.
“Welcome to Auradon Prep. I’m Fairy Godmother, Headmistress.” The fairy spoke up, saving everyone from embarrassment.
“The Fairy Godmother? As in Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boo?” Mal asked.
“No, M, as in Topsy Turvy Too. What other Fairy Godmother’s do you know.” You didn’t even mean to be sarcastic, it just slipped out. Mal gave you a mildly annoyed push while Fairy Godmother looked on smiling.
“Well, Bibbidi-Bobbidi you know it.”
Is she always like this? You thought to yourself as you watched Prince Benjamin usher her away before he addressed you guys.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Ben—”
“Prince Benjamin.” The girl cut him off. Somehow you suddenly just knew she was going to get on your nerves.
“You had me at prince.” Evie stepped up. “I’m Evie. My mother’s a queen so that makes me a princess.”
“The Evil Queen has no jurisdiction here or royal status. And neither do you.”
“I mean neither does that outfit but they still let you wear it out the house.” You muttered under your breath. It wasn’t as quiet as you thought. The other VKs snickered at your comment.
“This is Audrey,” Ben tried to diffuse the situation.
“Princess Audrey. Sleeping Beauty’s daughter and his girlfriend. Right, Benny-Boo?”
You looked over to Mal, the irony wasn’t lost on you at all. This was going to be a great time.
“This will be a momentous occasion and one that I hope will go down in history…” Ben went and shook everyone’s hand. “As the day our two peoples meet and begin to heal.”
You gave him a right proper curtsey to match whatever boisterous speech he just gave.
“A bit much?”
“Just a bit. Next time maybe just you arriving to Auradon Prep will be remembered in history,” you said before shaking his hand.
“Noted.”
“Princess (Y/N) Heart.” You emphasized the princess just to annoy Audrey. Ben didn’t seem fazed or even attempt to correct you like she did to Evie.
“Heart? That’s your last name? I thought it was just a part of Wonderland, the Valley of Hearts.”
Ben didn’t let go of your hand.
“In Wonderland, royals take the last name of where they rule. We rule the Valley of Hearts so, I’m a Heart.”
Audrey was by Ben’s side in an instant. “Well, no one really rules over the Valley of Hearts anymore. Your mother made sure of that with the whole off with your head thing.”
“Aww, and here I thought we might actually be friends… you know we never actually beheaded anyone right? It’s just a saying. Although, I’d be very happy to change that count from zero beheadings to one.”
You finally let go of Ben’s hand. “You gonna show us around or what?”
“Uh, yeah. Right this way.”
Ben signaled to where the front doors and a statue were. Before he could head off to lead the tour, you shrugged and looked over at the VKs giving two snaps to signal it was time to head out. Ben had to run to be in front of the group. Ben stopped in front of the statue. Now that you were closer you could see it was one of King Beast, a man your parents didn’t like at all. He was one that might make the first actual beheading in the Valley of Hearts if your mother ever saw him.
Ben clapped and the statue changed from King Adam’s human form to him in Beast form. You covered your ears as Carlos screamed and jumped into Jay’s arms.
“Relax, Carlos. My dad wanted his statue to change from beast to man to remind us that anything is possible if we try hard enough.”
Carlos made a clapping motion but nothing happened.
“Oh. It only works with the royal family.”
Just because it amused you to try, you clapped your hands. The statue took a minute but it shifted. Everyone turned to look at you.
“Your statue’s broken.”
“Huh.” Ben said nothing else but continued the tour.

Ok my thoughts on s2 of Shadow and Bone
What I liked:
The first four eps were the strongest imo
I loved how they incorporated the crows into this
The costumes!!! (hello Jesper)
Most of the fight choreos since they were perfectly fitted to the character (actually didn't like the choreo in ep6 though)
Tolya and Tamar (thank you queer gods)
Genya
Genya and David
Ben Barnes was outstanding and so fun to watch
I liked the pace up until the last 3 eps
Mal as Stormhond? I dig it
They kinda speed ran Kanej but it was still well made and we got the "I'll have you without your armor" quote
WESPER (seriously they were the cutest ever and had such great chemistry)
Wylan (I KNEW Jack would be perfect but actually watching him being the perfect Wylan was amazing)
Jesper
What I didn't like
I'm mighty pissed about David. Given how important he was for Nikolai in the books and that we didn't even get the relationship between him and Genya properly. There was no need to kill him off so early. I'm really pissed about that (I feel like it's Eskel all over again although we at least got a few scenes with him)
Though I loved Tolya and Tamar I think they didn't quite manage to explain their role in all of this and why they're doing what they do so they seemed a bit randomly placed at times
I didn't like that they sidelined Zoya and that she wasn't with Genya and Nikolai. Obviously they've changed Nikolai's and Alina's story now but man we didn't really get to see any of what makes her Zoya. I mean they hinted that they'll still give her the storyline with that bee but yeah
Like 5 minutes in total of Matthias... Like what was that?
Pekka Rollins now ruling Hellgate - and probably more- kind of negates what Kaz did to him. If it all ends up with Kaz destroying him after all, I'll be happy but that way they really took away from the importance of what Kaz did. It was all he worked for why he is who he is... So I'm like... Yeah they either need to fix this (which I think they'll do or at least they'll revisit this story) or they absolutely built and destroyed that storyline in one go
I'm really not the person who's like "but in the books" or "the books were better" cause these are different mediums, different ways of storytelling and different ppl working on it.
I'm not sure what I think of Alina's storyline now. And which way this will go. I guess they did that to keep her on the show and I sure as hell hope Ben will make a return as well. But I was very... Ok.... When that happened cause it's actually an integral part of who she is that she's NOT drunk on the power in the end and doesn't turn into a person like the Darkling.
I'm gonna be mighty pissed if next season we finally get more Matthias but then he's killed off.
Yeah. I mean finally s3 will be the Crows season.
Also I think even though they upped their gane with Kaz, I think he still could've been more brutal... More Kaz
I hope next season there is more brilliant scheming. Cause imo we haven't really seen Kaz' brilliance yet.
Ok I'm done

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
❝ Long before Prince - soon to be King - Ben had seen fit to bring four villain kids to Auradon from the Isle of the Lost, Greta had been the original outcast at Auradon Prep. The daughter of Grumpy, that famously cantankerous dwarf who had helped Snow White defeat her evil stepmother, Greta certainly lived up to her father's name. Despite the best efforts of her uncles to instill a more positive personality in her while she was growing up, her outlook on life had still turned out to be a spitting image of her father's: pessimistic, sarcastic, unsympathetic, and, well... grumpy.
And, as could be expected in a land that was meant to be as happily-ever-after blissful as Auradon, this did not exactly make Greta very popular among her peers. Never mind that most of the princesses and princes she went to school with weren't actually half as nice as they seemed - Greta wore her sarcasm and impatience with stupid people on her sleeve, rather than hiding it behind false cheery smiles, so she was the black sheep, the girl her fellow students either hid from when she walked past or talked about in stage whispers when she was around. The only people who even attempted to be nice to her were Prince Ben and her cousins - especially Doug, who appreciated the protection Greta's fearsome scowl sometimes afforded him - and though Greta did appreciate them, there were also times when she wanted to just shake all of them and tell them firmly to stop pitying her, she was fine.
Except... she wasn't, not really - or at least not as much as she wanted everyone else to think. It wasn't that she actually wanted to make friends - or at least not with the prissy princesses and jock princes who would only be fair-weather friends at best. There were just times when it got to be too much, all the whispers and snide comments and younger students ducking around corners when they saw her coming. Times when Greta wished for companionship, for friends that weren't her relatives or the future king who felt sorry for her. Times when she thought she would have done anything just for someone to hang out with and talk to, someone who would smile at her genuinely and talk to her without derision or fear.
And when Ben decided to bring some villain kids over from the Isle of the Lost, Greta finally got that. Here were four people who understood what it was like to be outcasts, who held the same amount of disdain for Auradon's pretty and perfect façade as her. (Or at least three of them did, but Greta couldn't help finding Evie's constant awe at everything in Auradon kind of cute.) The bond between Greta and the group of VKs formed quickly, and when Mal decided to let her in on their mission to steal Fairy Godmother's wand and open the barrier to the Isle of the Lost, it didn't take Greta long at all to agree - how could she not, when the only people who'd ever wanted to be her friends were seeking to get rid of the model of society that had done nothing but reject her?
But as their plan continues to unfold and the VKs find themselves forming new bonds in Auradon, Greta also finds herself building a better relationship with the peers she thought all hated and feared her. However, she remains committed to the plan to steal the wand... only, as she makes more friends and starts to open up a little and even starts to fall in love with the daughter of the woman who almost killed her father, uncles, and godmother, that commitment becomes more tangled, more complicated, harder to stick to but also harder to back out of.
As Ben's coronation draws nearer and nearer, Greta finds herself forced to make a choice: will she and the VKs decide to shed their reputations and finally embrace Auradon... or will they unleash a whole Isle of Villains and prove what so many people think - that they really are rotten to the core? ❞

So I've been thinking about my criticism of Mal and the way her character was handled, and what really sticks out to me is how easy it is to fix. Just a few simple changes and she'd have been okay. At the very least meh! So I'm gonna share some ideas I have on how her hacked up character could have been made not terrible.
I could start with Descendants 3, as that's the one I have the biggest gripes with, but honestly the issues start in the second movie. In an unnecessarily avoidable way. See, the whole conflict of the movie happens because Mal decides to go back to the isle in a complete overreaction. I could just say that Mal should have just... talked to her friends and boyfriend rather than leaving on a whim over being stressed, but that ignores the actual problem. Mal being so overwhelmed isn't written as a genuine conflict, it only exists because the writers needed her to go back to the isle so Uma can kidnap Ben once he follows after her. And the only reason she does this is because Ben didn't follow through on his declaration beyond the first four kids. It's a plot contrivance. So rather than erasing the whole second movie...
Have characters remark on Mal not being princessly enough. Like- at all. The only person who actually seems to think Mal isn't handling this well is Mal herself. And that's seemingly only because she's using magic. So have big important Auradonians behave the way Audrey and Chad did in the first movie. Have them be like queen Leah, assuming the worst just because of who her parents are. Even an implication would be better than what we have right now. Give her actual reasons to feel like she'll never belong in Auradon, because everyone feels like they don't belong at one point in their lives. That's no reason to abandon literally all of her loved ones forever.
Now that we're done fixing Mal's character in the second movie with one small change, let's get to the final boss of her character assassination: Descendants 3. A true speedrun, I know. There is... so much wrong with this movie. Just so much. I won't go into the nitty gritty and keep it to the bigger strokes of stupidity, starting with the easiest thing that would make Mal so much less insufferable in this stupid movie. Mal should not have suggested closing the barrier. In my post about her I think I did a good job at outlining just how many other solutions there were to this non-problem, but honestly it's not even an issue. Hades didn't even get out, and I would like to point out that they get on and off the isle with no problem within this very movie. They start the movie on the isle, and they got on no issue. In the first movie the villains get the message about the kids going to Auradon, and since there's no wifi it must've been delivered. Then the kids get taken off the isle. No trouble at all, and that's with only that chauffeur. No guards, no guns trained at people's faces, nothing. Things don't go perfectly once and Mal's first thought is close the whole thing down? Yeah, no, that's so fucking dumb I don't even wanna argue with this. Mal is being a massive bitch to solve a problem that doesn't even exist, and it's stupid. Just a contrived way to get Mal alone for the dRaMa. The way to fix it is to just erase this entire conflict because it's stupid.
If you insist on keeping it in... Mal should not lie to literally everyone in her life except Ben. And they should not forgive her that easily. Even after the big battle is done her friends should, at the very least, continue giving her the cold shoulder. One apology is not gonna fix the fact that she lied continuously for purely selfish reasons. There is no big noble goal that made her do this, she very explicitly wanted to keep her own happily ever after with no regard as to the many lives she was ruining in the process. And she only lied about it because she knew her friends would be mad about it. If she thought it was a defendable decision, she'd be defending it, but no. This implies that her reasoning is bullshit, but she's doing it anyways because it's the most effective way of ensuring her own happiness. Not the only way, just the one with the most certain outcome.
Lastly, Mal should not just bring down the entire barrier. As much as I bitch about her stupid solution to a non-issue, the isle is still filled with vengeful evil villains. The message of the movie is, supposedly, that anyone can be evil, but this utterly fails due to multiple reasons that I may detail in a separate post. The most the movie should've led to is Auradon bringing a few lesser villains back over, but the big bads? They're there for a reason, and they should not be given the opportunity to hurt even more people. People aren't born evil, but once you choose to be there's gotta be some consequences. Pendulum swinging because of exactly one instance is wrong and stupid and stupid and wrong, because you should base your decisions on the rule, not the exception.
So yeah those are some quick fixes to the most glaring issues with this series that would've made Mal less of a frustrating mess. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

what are your honest thoughts on King Beast
oh god. listen, beauty and the beast is my favourite disney movie so i have mixed feelings (also if i refer to him as adam, i'm talking about king beast, yk). it brings me joy every time i see him on the screen because of this, but the formation of the isle was, in the simplest of terms, not it. i can never understand why you would bring a bunch of villains back from the DEAD to imprison them let alone imprison the alive ones in the way that the isle operates? there had to be a better way.
i like to rationalize the formation of the isle (as much as i can bc the formation of the isle is simply whack) by imagining that villain related crime had been seriously escalating when he was made king and there was one final event that basically triggered him, maybe something that endangered ben's safety when he was an infant. i tend to think of something like an attempted kidnapping, something that endangered his family's safety. in my mind, the widescale villain panic across the nation at the time essentially contributed to the decision that the isle would be formed, but without that panic i like to think that it never would have happened.
i do, however, enjoy seeing his character development throughout the movies. i don't think he can ever redeem himself for creating the isle, but i do think he shows potential in his interactions with mal and his acceptance of her relationship with ben. i do ultimately think he did what he did for the safety of his family; i think the curse put upon him really messed with his head, that he never truly dealt with it after he became human again, and all of that trauma reared its ugly head and led to the formation of the isle.
tldr; i love beast as a character and he shows potential for growth and change, but the formation of the isle was absolutely wrong and i don't think he can ever redeem himself completely.

Spelled (Carlos de Vil x Sanderson Daughter) Descendants 2- Ch. 14: Disagree
Tumblr media
Carlos’ POV
I gotta say, this is probably the best party I’ve ever been to! Seriously, how many dances end with a splash fight?
“I didn’t know you could dance!” Jane giggles as we dance to the fast tempo.
“I’m more than just a crazy dog person!” I tease. “VKs know how to dance!”
The night goes by way too fast, and soon enough the attendants start ushering everyone off the barge. Mal and Ben walk off to speak with Ben’s parents about enforcing security, and Evie goes off with Doug. Jane says she needs to help her mom clean up, but will meet me later in the courtyard. I look around for Magica, but am unsuccessful. Where did she go? I thought she’d be happy about Ben allowing more VKs into Auradon.
“Dude? Where are you?” I search for the troublesome canine and find him trotting down a dirt path. “Where were you?”
“I followed Binx,” he says nonchalantly. “Magica was having a moment.”
My thoughts fly. “Magica? Where is she? Is she ok?”
He scoffs and perches next to my feet. “As if you’d even notice, loverboy.”
I frown and tilt my head. “What do you mean?”
He shakes his head. “Ugh, never mind. If you wanna find her, she’s in the school garden.”
Magica’s POV
“And you’re sure you want this?” Binx asks.
After I retrieve the Sanderson’s binding book from its hiding place I decide to walk through the gardens for one final goodbye.
“Yes. I’m positive.”
“But that means-”
“That I’ll officially be an outcast? I know, Binx.”
What he’s talking about is my plan to leave my final mark on Auradon Prep. I’ve let my flames spread over the hedges and singed the words ‘never forget’ as my message. I’ll never forget what they did to me, so they best not forget who I am. Sandersons have a way of holding a grudge.
“I’m guessing you’re going back into hiding?”
A new voice startles me and I spin around ready to spell the intruder-
“Carlos?” I blink in response to his appearance. “What are you- How did you know I was here?”
“I told him!” Dude speaks up.
By now Carlos has seen my message on the hedge. “What’s that?”
Lingering emotions beg me to apologize and forget the whole thing, but that part of me is dying. I’m sick and tired of pretending everything is fine!
“You saw how everyone reacted at Cotillion. They still see me as a wicked Sanderson witch. Why live among them and bother trying to shift their stubborn minds when I can be myself where no one’s watching?”
Carlos’ face falls and he gets defensive. “Magica, if you’d just stop running away from your problems then you could show people you’re not evil!”
My anger spikes and I flick sparks at his feet, causing him to jump. “Do not lecture me about hiding my feelings, De Vil!”
He gasps. “But I’m your friend! And I can’t allow you to burn the garden!”
I snicker. “That’s pretty sad coming from you.”
“Says the witch who nearly just set the garden on fire!” He gets agitated and starts gesturing to the hedges. “We do harmless pranks. This is an act of anarchy!”
I knew it. If I act sad and distant, people see it as pitiful. Once I change to be angry and disagreeing then they try to control me again.
“I’m going away, Carlos.” I bring a hand to his cheek and he flinches away, but I remain calm. “Don’t try to find me. Tell Mal that if she needs me, I’ll find her. But unless Auradon is willing to look past its stubborn and selfish ways then they should keep their corrupt business out of mine.”
“Seems to me like you’re just as stubborn and selfish,” Carlos murmurs. “What happened to the kind white witch who helped everyone?”
My attempts at a peaceful parting wither away and I see there’s no changing his mind. I give a heavy sigh and walk off to the garden’s exit.
“She’s gone. Replaced by someone wiser, and more aware of what kind of a world we live in. I’m sorry Carlos, but I’ve exhausted my efforts of trying to be someone I’m not for far too long.” I look back one last time, almost crushed when I see the disappointment in his eyes. “I wish you only the best, Carlos. Maybe someday our paths will cross again under different circumstances.”
Binx jumps up onto my shoulder. With one final flash of purple flames, I use my new-found transportation magic and we vanish.
I’m no longer doing this for you. It’s time to forget being perfect and finally put my own interests at heart.

Certified Non-Malvie Moments pt. 2
She took a breath before saying it. They were on their way back to the hideout and had fallen back into an almost normal rapport. “I’m- I’m not going back.” She swallowed the childish and you can’t make me she thought in the silence that followed. “It’s- I’ll never be what they want. And it,” She paused, tried to think of a way to explain the unexplainable. That the luxury of food and warmth and clean clothes was worse for its demands on her than to simply be dirty and alone. “Hurt trying.” She decided, and her face twisted for a second, thinking about it, admitting it.
“Then I’ll stay.” Evie’s face was solemn in a way that scared Mal, serious and actionable, realistic in a way that Ben’s promise hadn’t been. That the idea appealed to her made her guilty. She pushed it aside so she could argue. So she couldn’t just accept and make things worse, ruin Evie like she kept ruining everything else. Her grip tightened on the bag of smoke bombs in her left hand.
“No, no you won’t. You’re-I know,” Mal tried to get her thoughts together as they turned the final corner to the alley where the hideout was. She swallowed the lump in her throat. “I saw you when you arrived, E. Auradon is everything you’d ever dreamed of. And you’ve- you belong there.” Belong wasn’t the word she wanted but it would have to do. She couldn’t articulate the way Evie fit into her new life in all the ways Mal had failed to. As she spoke, her voice rose almost to a shout. “I can’t let you leave it all behind because I’m a-“ She cut herself off and looked down as she kicked a rock through a puddle, its surface iridescent with oil. She started again, quieter. “Because of me.”
“I want to, M. Am I supposed to just leave you here?” The careful not a wince Evie made in the millisecond pause before she said here made Mal feel even more selfish for considering agreeing. It wasn’t just like Dizzy, that Auradon would be better, but that here was worse. She was afraid of the Isle. Of what it did and represented and held, of her mother. Mal picked up a rock and flung it into the sign. The gate groaned and shrieked, too loud as always, but at least quieter now that it was being used regularly.
“Yes.” She ducked under the rising gate and stopped on the first landing. She leaned against the wobbly rail and waited for Evie to follow.
“I didn’t know, what you were going through.” Evie stepped lightly up the stairs, avoiding the rotten parts with the ease of muscle memory and put her hand on Mal’s shoulder. Her eyebrow furrowed, just a bit and she continued. “I- I thought you were fine.”
“I think I was supposed to be.” Mal said and shrugged off Evie’s hand as she continued up the stairs. There were a lot of things she was supposed to be. “I wasn’t, but I tried.” She walked into the empty hideout, and looked around at her murals, her memories of the happiest moments of her life. She smiled, and it was only a little broken when she turned to Evie and held her arms at the elbows. “After all this, with Ben. I want you to go back. Deliver a dozen beautiful dresses to a dozen Auradon girls.” She looked into her eyes to emphasize it.
“It’s not-” Evie started. She looked like she was about to cry, her eyes flicked up to the water stained ceiling as she blinked and her breaths started to get uneven.
Mal cut her off. “We’ll just be in different places.”

so i’ve had this convo multiple times in the past day with one of my friends and after rewatching every descendants movie i can say that almost everyone is at least a bit gay.
like you can’t tell me that carlos and ben didn’t have smth going and they had way more chemistry than mal and ben ever did… like the trope of one saying that they’ll personally teach the other a sport (as if they didn’t do that in heartstopper) and carlos being the only one to calm beast ben down 🤨 but i can’t be too mad bc jane and carlos are cute as hell
also mal. straight up lesbian. you can’t tell me that anything she had going on with evie was straight (especially the space between)
and finally harry. bi/pan mess. flirts with absolutely everyone. and weren’t him and gil supposed to have a kiss but it was cut?
anyway descendants is one of the gayest straight movie trilogies i’ve seen so yeah

Welcome to my Ted Talk. Topic of the Day: Darklina Season 2 👀😬😱
Spoilers! 🚨
I had very low standards for this season when it came to Darklina because I’ve read the entire Grishaverse and well….it was rough when it came to that ship. I was a little disappointed that they took out certain moments, lines and points from the books. They made up for it with some replacement scenes but most of all with that ENDING! Oof, the ending gave way more open doors than I expected!
I always knew that they wouldn’t end up together. My beloved Darklina ship was a Shakespearean tragedy from the beginning. And yet I was looking forward to watching one half of my ship kill the other half of my ship. What a very strange ship! And yet I rode it happily! The connection they had throughout the season was powerful, the strange trust Alina and the Darkling had, the magnetism, the undeniable pull between two people who really had no other equal but each other and in so many ways made the other their only refuge. It was as if they were fighting on stage but behind the curtains they were confiding in each other, no matter how angry they were, conversations between two kindred souls, or two people who KNEW that no one else could truly understand them but the other. A literal one of a kind connection.
Throughout the season, the way he talks about their powers and the darkness, he’s warning her, cautioning her about the dangers of it, and all the terrible things that come with it. He also flat out tells her that with him gone the nichevoya will hunt her, but she takes it as a threat instead of a warning. A very Darkling thing to do btw. In the end, he’s saying, be careful because you’ll end up like me and it’s not pretty, you’ll lose yourself and will lead an empty life. I wouldn’t want that to happen to you. When the nichevoya goes to attack her, he yells for it to leave her alone and boy, that just proves that he still has a kernel of humanity and that he does indeed hold affection (maybe love or as much as he can love) for Alina. And he doesn’t want her to end up in the place he has—filled with pain, rage, resentment, loneliness, heartbreak, loss of humanity and quite possibly no salvation.
One of the surprisingly emotional moments was when he talks about hope and there’s a flashback to their first kiss. He basically admits that when she came into his life, he started believing that he could have some salvation, he started having HOPE, hope in controlling the literal demons and darkness in him, in ultimately saving HIMSELF. The Darkling remains nameless in the books and he only reveals his name to Alina about 2/3 of the way in book 3 during a *cough* intimate scene. For the show Ben said in an interview that his incredibly vulnerable admittance of finding hope when Alina came into his life was their replacement scene for that scene. I think that just might be more impactful.
As The Darkling dies, he looks up at her and says “Blue skies. My little saint.” This is the one scene I wish they kept from the book. Alina was way more emotional about his death in the book, she cries and holds his hand as he’s dying. In the show, you can see a flicker of empathy and sadness on Alina’s face. It’s there but not enough in my opinion. Either way, it still tells us that now more than ever, after everything this season, she understands him and knows him even better. She has seen and been around that darkness well enough. Maybe a little too well, as we see in the end. She grants him his final wish which is to make sure there is nothing left of him (but not really, his hand is still out there, ooooh!) His funeral was strangely sad when technically he is the villain. He’s a fantastically complex villain.
Also, boy am I glad that she chose not to be with Mal and decided to stay in the palace with Nikolai because that means no losing her powers and no Malina (for now). Alina is tenfold better in the show than the books just for that and that crown looks GOOD on Alina. I do want my Zoyalai eventually. And we see flickers of that when Zoya looks at Nikolai, interested. I do think that they will be endgame at the end of the day. Which begs the question, what about Alina?
The show ends with Alina using the shadow cut and her looking shocked and then scarily pleased with herself. The darkness has creeped into her. Exactly what Aleksander warned her about and didn’t want to happen to her. He will come back (which does happen in the books, so don’t fail me Netflix 😭) and I wonder if he might play a role in getting rid of that darkness within her, an ultimate show of how he cares for her. Wouldn’t that be a crazy “redemption” arc? He does tell her in the show “let me be your monster” and “let me carry the hatred of the world” as if he’s saying I’ll carry the darkness and you the light and together we’ll balance out and create peace. At least, that’s what’s going on in his head. Either way, those were really heavy lines to say to Alina. In the books, we do see him make a sacrifice for Ravka, stopping the Fold growing again by willingly trapping himself into a tree—literally being a monster holding back the bad things in the world. Maybe he'll do some redemptive thing for Alina also. We never did see his body disintegrate in that last scene. Also, Zoya was shooing a bee off of her--bees being the sign of Sankta Elizaveta aka one of the Saints who resurrects The Darkling in KoS. Maybe Alina will suffer under the weight of the darkness and who knows maybe Alina will find some strange relief to see him again. The one other person who not only understands but KNOWS. At this point, I expect that they will become even more like equals and will meet halfway. Now that Alina has slowly, subtly but surely walked a similar path to darkness—use of manipulation, harsh words about taking everything away, becoming colder, leading the second army, working as right hand to a king, saving a loved one with merzost, and finally, gaining shadow powers.
It’s the best we could realistically ask for in this ship. Because yes, in many ways, they do have a romance—twisted, toxic, gruesome, and tragic as it is but it’s there in my opinion. It’s an undeniable connection, a temptation that can’t be taken away, and what happened between them is the definition of changing someone’s life completely. Even on Alina’s end when she talks about how he was the first to show her her true powers, her value, how she was meant for more. Of course Baghra says that those still remain true regardless of him but you know that as Alina is saying it a part of her still feels so betrayed and so hurt. Because she did feel something for him once and had HOPED for something more with him, even Baghra tells Aleksander that there was a time when he could have earned Alina’s love. At the end of the day, it’s a way more compelling pairing BECAUSE of its complications and tragedy.
I never imagined Alina to take a dark turn, that’s a ballsy but fantastic move for the writers but I am SO here for it. It was always a pipe dream for some Darklina shippers. But...well, here we are! It basically happened! She might not have joined the Darkling's dark side, but she's basically gotten her own dark side now. It makes her more interesting and complex and opens the door for more darklina. Maybe not endgame Darklina but just more of their angst and drama. I remain a darklina fan even if their romance is terrible and tragic but their pairing is so messy, complex, poetic and has so many layers. Let’s suffer with this ship together my friends 😈🥹
With that, can we have season 3 now PLEASE?
PS. The Darkling is such a simp, even when she's destroying the Fold, he looks around with amazement and says "extraordinary" as if he's so proud of her. He's like biiiish that's mah wife-y, she's about to destroy my creation AND me because she's a badass. You go wife-y!

Hostage on Lost Revenge
Darker take on Ben’s kidnapping in D2. Probably some OOC characters and questionable use of weapons & mention of blood in inapropriate places of the text. Oh and Huma flirting in increasingly disturbing ways.
Don’t look at me like that, this is cheaper than therapy.
It also isn’t complete, probably (?), but I’m publishing it now, because I need to feel like I’ve accomplished something
„And one last thing,“ Evie smiles sweetly at Ben, and in the dim light of the Isle, her teeth look tinted red like blood like her lipstick.
Ben nods at her, to show that he is listening, and Jay and Carlos circle closer to them.
„Yeah?“
„Don’t ever go down to the port.“ She reaches out to tuck a stray strand of hair back under his beanie. „Got it?“
Ben has obviously no intention of straying to the port, he’s there for Mal, and based on the little he knows, Mal wouldn’t go there. But still–
„Okay, will do,“ he agrees, and Jay and Evie sight dramatically at that, „But… Why? Is it because Mal is, well, fighting with them? The Lost Revenge, was it? But surely they cannot be that bad…“
They start laughing, louder than he has ever seen them laugh in Auradon; all three of them.
Ben almost flinches when Jay swings his arm over his shoulders and then again when Evie smiles blood red lips and ice cold eyes.
Even Carlos just shakes his head, almost in amusement, or maybe in fear: „Better the port than Hell Hall,“ he mutters and Evie’s eyes darken yet more with something that Ben doesn’t want to name.
She laughs again and shakes her head – she stands so close that her midnight blue hair hit him in the cheek – and finally says: „No, Ben. It’s because they’re all fucking insane.“
Then she clicks her tongue and turns on her heel, walking away as if nothing happened; Carlos shrugs and just follows her easily, while Jay grips his shoulder before he lets go, harder than absolutely necessary.
The Isle seems to be breathing, living, and definitely watching him.
Of course, Ben has no choice but to follow after his friends. For one, he has barely any idea where he is, or where the port is.
For another thing, the shadows seem to be reaching out to him, and there is something just out of his sight that sends shivers down his spine.
He tries to copy Jay’s confident steps, but–
Where is Jay?
He was there barely a second before!
A duo of children runs around Ben, almost knocking him off, and when he finds his balance, he can’t see Evie either – If he looks just correctly, the swirl in the shadows down there might be her, or not.
Good thing Carlos’s white shines through the Isle – right?
Right?
„Come on, Ben, what are you waiting at?“ Carlos’s voice sounds through the alley, muffled but clear.
He’d like to go home.
„I’m right behind you, don’t worry!“ answers Ben. They’re probably worrying about Mal, just as he is, and they don’t need to worry about him too.
So he just does his best of following the faint traces of white and red and clicking of Evie’s heels, whenever he can make it out in the ruckus of the Isle.
(The sounds and smells are making his mind go rounds; every now and then, a bright neon in the flood of darkness pops up and makes him blink and flinch.)
But he has to find Mal–
And before he can locate Carlos or Evie again, someone drops in front of him, almost out of the sky.
Within heartbeat, there is a metal hook in Ben’s face, and a deep voice in his ear: „Oh, look, what do we have here–“ the boy practically purrs, and presses the hook into his neck – with horror, Ben realises that the boy doesn’t have a hand.
He circles closer yet, walking around Ben slowly, and his bright eyes flicker between Ben’s face and a million different things around, before they stop and he grins at Ben like a Cheshire cat.
And Ben doesn’t scream.
„Well, whatever brought you here…“ Ben can feel his breath on his ear, and his heart races in his neck.
„I better show you around, Your Majesty.“
Partly because there is a hand over his mouth and a tip of a hook on his spine, and partly, well. If he screams for help, the Villain kids won’t go on and find Mal. He wants them to find Mal first.
So he goes limp in the hold.
Two more boys join them – Ben vaguely recalls seeing one of them earlier – and a girl. They effectively lock him in between them, and now Ben couldn’t run even if he wanted to. The hooked boy is smiling at them, smirking, and still, even as he girl prods rather hard at Ben’s ribs.
„There’s a good puppet ruler,“ the boy says, „Now, come along, baby king, I have so much to show you…“
(He is barely older than Ben – he can’t be that much older than Ben, can he?)
„Careful, Marya,“ he says, „Wouldn’t want to damage him before the Captain sees, would you now?“
The girl – Marya – pokes at Ben again.
And consequently almost gets her hand broken when the boy startles at her with his hook.
And yes, Ben still has nowhere to run, nevermind that he wouldn’t know where.
„I said–“
She bares her teeth at him and then ducks behind one of the other boys when he bares his teeth too.
The hooked boy turns back at him and smoothly says: „You simply must excuse their manners, Your Majesty,“ his voice dripping with more sarcasm than Ben has ever heard in his life.
„Lets go,“ he snaps then.
„Fuck you, Harry,“ pipes up Marya before one of the other boys puts hand over her mouth too. Consequently, the „Fuck you too, Gil,“ is a fair bit muffled.
Harry bares his teeth at Marya again.
The difference, of course, is, that Marya walks free within a second, while Ben is escorted in the heart of the little group, several weapons not so discreetly pointed at him, and hands ready to snap back at his mouth at moments notice.
There is still the dull pressure of the hook on his spine.
„Where are we going?“ Ben asks at some point.
Ben doubts that if he called for help now that anyone would come, no. His captors make no effort to move quietly or to blend with the shadows, instead walking through the middle of the street, and people scurry out of their way.
Harry cackles with each child or adult sent running – which only serves to scare yet more people off.
He sees Gil breathing in to answer, but before he can, Harry tsks: „Don’t worry your pretty head, baby king. You’ll see soon enough.“
The hook at his back urges him to walk faster.
And of course, soon enough, he finds himself in the port. He can’t see the water yet, but the air stenches of salt and rotting fish, and the people give them even more space than before, though a small group of children starts tailing them in respectable distance.
Ben coughs at the assault on his senses, at which his captors only scoff, and he feels his cheeks burning.
„Should I go tell the Captain we’re coming with a guest?“ asks the other boy whose name Ben doesn’t know.
The pirates – they must be pirates, mustn’t they – break formation a little, clearly more comfortable at their own land.
Marya almost skips ahead entirely before Harry stops her; she pouts at him the whole time.
„Nah, I want it to be a surprise.“
Left with no other choice, Ben continues walking. He can hear the waves now, and he’s walking on a pier so rotten it might just collapse under his feet. No one else seems worried.
He sees the ship now, anchored near the pier and connected by a narrow bridge. More of a plank, really.
They stop before it for a moment, and Ben has just enough time to decide that he doesn’t want to walk over that, or to fall into the sea. He is fairly sure he sees sharks lazily swimming around the ship in the murky water.
The pirates practically run over it, and with the weapon still at his spine and a hand on his shoulder, Ben follows.
……
He jerks his head, which is a signal for Gil and Gonzo to drag the boarding bridge onboard, and then he wastes no time in greeting her.
When Harry steps aboard the ship, the first thing he registers is, of course, Uma. She’s sitting on the command bridge, easy smile on her lips, and absentmindedly braiding Bonny’s hair; Desiree seems to be taking a nap at her shoulder.
She’s still wearing the blindfold, which makes Harry’s chest hurt in a plethora of ways he refuses to name. Nothing should be hurting his Captain.
He just hopes his little gift will make her day a bit better.
„Uma!“
She looks up and he smiles brightly, so much that it makes his cheeks hurt, even though or maybe because she can’t see.
„I brought you a gift, darling.“ In his mind, there is no difference between a gift and a hostage, and Uma seems to agree, at the very least.
„Did you now,“ she says, intrigued, and pushes Desiree off her shoulder and Bonny out of the way; she stands up in one fluid motion and walks to him, sure on her feet as if she wasn’t voluntarily wearing a blindfold. He steps out to meet her sooner and offers her his hook; then he pulls her closer and lays his real hand at the small of her back.
„I did,“ he tells her, voice low and deep, „But this, my darling–“ he gently touches the loop of his hook to her temporal bone, wrapped in the cloth of a blindfold as it is, „Did it not get better at all?“
„It’s too bright,“ she complains and he bows his head in acknowledgement it doesn’t matter she can’t see it and doesn’t point out the perpetually dim sky of the Isle.
„Besides, it’s not like there was much to look at, wasn’t there.“
Her fingers slowly slide down the weapon until she’s gripping his wrist, just shy of bruising, and raises his hand – his weapon to her lips, finally licking the tip of the hook. His breath catches in his throat.
„My apologies, my Captain,“ he drawls, amused, „It won’t happen again.“ He licks his lips.
„To make up for the grievous offence, will you accept my gift?“
„Oh, I don’t know, will I?“ She likes to play with him, doesn’t she? But what could he say, it’s in her blood.
„It depends on all kinds of things, doesn’t it?“ she abruptly grabs his hook, her rings clinging on the weapon. „What did you get me, Harry Hook?“
„There’s no blood yet, my darling,“ he manages to choke out.
„Correct that.“
A challenge, an order, he doesn’t hesitate: He turns around as soon as she lets go of his wrist and slashes at the boy king’s cheek, only just enough to draw blood.
„I suppose I do want to see your gift,“ she muses before raising her voice: „Desi! Get me the sunglasses!“
He ignores his pained yelp in favour of Uma, who smiles at the cry of pain. Sharp smile full of teeth and promises of darkness.
He can’t help but step closer to her again.
„I promise you’ll like it even more when you see it,“ Harry says, consciously ignoring the king’s futile protests.
„Oh, will I?“
„Uhm.“
She casually catches his wrist and raises it to her lips again, licking off a few beads of the red liquid. Then she steps closer and forces him to step back until he is pressed against the railing, because of course she knew where exactly they were, and then presses closer still.
„I hope you deliver on that promise, Hook.“
„Ugh, it’s too bright,“ she complains again, sighing dramatically, and Harry would like to paint the entire sky black, thank you for asking.
She steps a bit away again, and suddenly flings her captain hat at his chest: „Hold this,“ she tells him.
She takes off her blindfold – her eyes closed – and trades it for a cracked sunglasses from Desiree’s hand. If Harry focuses enough, he can see her brilliant eyes under the glass.
„Whatever,“ Uma waves his compliment away and takes back her hat, „This better be worth it.“
Instead, he says: „I assure you, there is nothing nearly as radiant as you, my love.“
With his good hand, he flips off Marya and Jonas, who pretend to be gaging.
……
So, to recap. Ben has been kidnapped by the pirates and more or less dragged down to the port and onto one of the ships, only to be promptly forgotten in favour of genuinely quite disturbing flirting situation.
Neat.
Being ignored was neat, at least, even if watching them made his heart race in all kind of ways.
His thoughts, too: Was Uma blind? It didn’t sound like it, and she did request sunglasses. But, what is wrong, then?
He slowly reaches his hand to the cut at his face: What is wrong with these people in general?
He should have tried harder to keep up with Evie and Carlos and Jay. He should have been better to Mal, so she wouldn’t run away at all.
Oh, and they remembered he exists again – he almost flinches under their stares, even with Uma’s eyes dulled by the sunglasses.
He should ask her what is the deal with that: So he does.
Moment later, Uma’s hand slams into the wood near his head (he flinches away just an inch), and leans too close in: „I am a deep sea creature, baby king,“ she says, „I am not meant for land. For dry air and too bright light–“ she laughs, a sharp, breaking sound, „At least the hard pressure you got right. Figuratively, of course, but I’ll take what I can get, won’t I?“
She smiles at him in a way that makes him want to run away, which, of course, sans jumping down the sea, is impossible.
She stalks closer, Harry right at her heels, and Ben stumbles backwards. One step and another, and another, until his back fall against one of the masts.
As on clue, the pirate crew cackles.
Of course they were listening in: who wouldn’t be?
However, Uma isn’t done. She snaps her fingers and smirks again: „Also, I bet with Jonas I can beat him blindfolded by the end of the month.“
„Oh, you so won’t, Captain!“ shouts a boy who Ben can assume is Jonas.
„So will, Jonas!“ She turns at him, eyes alight even under the sunglasses, „Out of the two of us, we’ll see who leaves bloody!“
„Knowing you, Captain, probably Harry.“
Ben has a very clear view of the self-satisfied smirk Harry pulls at that, and he is not disturbed at all by that, thank you for asking.
„Excuse yourself?“
„Why am I here?“ he asks again.
With the Captain’s stormy voice, Jonas raises his hands in defeat, and also disappears into the under-deck. Good for him.
Ben wishes he could follow, but he has a feeling that wouldn’t fly.
„You are a royal hostage: Isn’t that what pirates do?“
They all laugh, loud and free and detached.
„If you want money, I can get it for you. Gold. Ransom. What do you want?“ Ben pleads. He isn’t really prepared for the answer.
„Freedom.“
„Freedom?“ he repeats, his brain frozen, processing too many things at once.
Hostage. Prison. Don’t let go. Mal. Mal. Good and bad: second chances.
He wishes his thoughts would make more sense, but it will be fine. He just needs a moment to process–
He doesn’t get it.
Obviously, the pirate Captain doesn’t have much patience.
„Yes. Freedom,“ she snaps to his face, „We were born in prison, remember?!“
He bites his lip, and hopes the pirates won’t notice the tears in his eyes.
He bites his tongue instead of an answer, because what could he say?
„I know,“ he could say, „I am trying to make it right.“
He could say that, couldn’t he?
But… It’s not enough, isn’t it?
He watches as Uma turns away from him, Harry’s good hand at the small of her back.
She is right.
„Whatever,“ she says, „Someone tie him up.“
„I have nowhere to run–“ Ben protests, but she just laughs:
„It doesn’t matter, does it?“

After so much putting off writing this and then rewriting what I did have, I Put A Spell On You, a OC X Mal X Ben fanfiction, is finally up with its prologue...here's hoping I can get the first chapter done soon.
Summary of fanfiction: "Ever since the two met after a birthday party gone wrong, Sirena Sanderson and Mal have always been close allies as they grew up on the Isle of The Lost. Sure, their alliance grew over time to include Jay, Evie and Carlos De Vil, but despite their new allies, Sirena and Mal have remained close. But when the soon to be King of Auradon, Prince Ben, makes a proclamation that results in the five villain kids being given a chance to live in Auradon and be good, Sirena and Mal find their alliance being tested. After all, on the Isle of The Lost, there's no such thing as having friends even, let alone entering...romance, with each other. And besides, they have to focus on getting the Fairy Godmother's wand, just like their parents wanted them to do, so that they can free the Isle and get their revenge. But a certain Prince of Auradon just has to a wrench into their plan, and complicate it in the process..."

HMB;YDTMWTL-Triplets-?!
(Okay so this is going to be a four part fic- oops-!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Dad-!” Aricka pushed herself off the bed and threw herself into the arms of the man who raised her and her brother. “Oh, daddy you’re here-!”
“I am so sorry I’m late, I had a meeting with your uncle Madmartigan about something important, but I’m here now, dearest, darling daughter of mine.” King Kit Charming cradled his firstborn daughter like she would disappear from his sight if he didn’t.
“Uncle Mads is here-?”
“He’s currently talking to King Adam and Queen Belle about your mother; she is currently being escorted back to Sardinia soil where she will be dealt with.” Then Kit saw his son, and opened his arms to him, and Chad fell into the embrace as willingly as his sister had. “Son…”
“Dad..” both twins whispered at the same time. Aricka allowed herself to finally take a deep, long breath, more tears leaking through.
“I am so sorry I wasn’t there,” Kit says. Then he sees the other children gathered in the twins’ room. “I’m sure these are the children you’ve been wanting to introduce me to?” He asks: and Aricka finally; reluctantly untangled herself from her father’s side.
“Uh, yeah. Dad, you already know Ben and Lonnie and Zee (Aziz) and Jane D and Jane L and Audrey and Doug right?” Her dad nods and nods courteously at the cousins. “Right.” She leads him over to Jay and Azalea. “These are two of my new closest friends, Jay Scheherazade and Azalea. Azalea is helping me coordinate supply drop off zones on the Isle until we get all the children, petty criminal and sidekicks back in Auradon. Jay is studying to be a pro Tourney player one day.” Kit offers his hand to both children, who with looks of shock and appreciation shake his hand.
“Dad,” Chad pipes up; holding Uma’s hand and smiling bashfully. “This is Uma Nautica… my girlfriend.”
Kit glances at Chad with a look of surprise and- yep, definitely it was- pride on his face. “You gave your heart to a loyal and fierce young woman; it seems. Uma, you’re welcome at the royal Sardinian table anytime you like.”
Uma shakes his hand with a regal yet barely concealed nervous smile. “I’m going to hold you to that, your majesty,” she says dryly. “I’ve got some crew I left behind and that didn’t sit right with me.”
“I’ll intercede on your behalf with Adam,” Kit assures her.
Aricka grabbed Harry’s hand and gave him an assuring smile at his mildly panicked expression. “Daddy,” she says, catching her dad’s attention. “On that same note- this is my boyfriend Harry.”
Kit extends his hand to Harry as well, “son, I just want to welcome you to the family- I apologize deeply on behalf of my wife-we lost Chad and Aricka’s triplet brother when they were three and she’s been- extremely overprotective of her two remaining twins and her newest daughter ever since.” Mal scoffs and replies,
“Doesn’t give her the right to make such accusations against us OR harm her own child.” Aricka’s cheek was still a faint pink, and her father gently examined it, glaring at the mark like it’d personally offended him.
“I wholeheartedly agree with you, Miss-?”
“Mal Page, and while it’s a pleasure to meet the man responsible for Aricka being alive, I do have a gripe with your wife.”
“I understand your frustration. She has been better in recent years, having not been directly involved with Aricka or Chad’s care as they’ve primarily lived in campus since freshman year. But parent day is the one day she insists on visiting. I’ve never been able to say no to her; not after losing Charles.”
Aricka and Chad look down at the floor- they knew story. They knew they had lost a sibling- a triplet brother; their dad had told them. Charlie had had the same blonde hair as Aricka; and him and Chad looked similar yet different all at once. The two only remembered one other thing about their lost brother- they could still vividly recall the brown bandana that he’d been wearing the day he’d been taken from his bed.
A similar bandana as the one Gil wore all the time.
The same bandana her father now saw as he scanned the room once more. His face paled and Aricka saw her dad’s hands begin to shake. “Son…” he says, looking Gil dead on. “I’m sorry to ask such a thing, but- but where did you find that bandana?”
Gil blinked and removed it, allowing his messy golden curls to frame his face. “I’ve always had it, Mr. King Sir. My uncle Lefou said he found it with me on the barge- he rescued me from it.”
Aricka gasps and Chad’s eyes widen as they put the pieces together.
A baby found in the barge… the same bandana their brother wore… Gil and Chad and Aricka looked so similar and they always managed to get along so well-
As if they were siblings.
Aricka detached herself from Harry’s side and dove back onto the bed to throw her arms around Gil- around Charlie. “Gilly, Gilly; GILLY-!” She sang, more tears falling. “I knew we looked alike.”
“I knew that love of tourney and grapes wasn’t just a coincidence,” Chad says and Aziz moved just in time as Chad tackled both his siblings in a huge hug. “It was you all along,” he said.
“Our brother,” Aricka says, “our Gilly- our Charlie.”
“No- wait- there’s a mistake- I can’t be a prince. I’m a villain, I’m dirty, I-!”
Aricka frames Gil’s face in her hands. “Oh Gil. Did you already forget what I said out there?”
*flashback*
“…And don’t get me started on Gil LeGume- he’s so Good and he just keeps trying to do better, to learn everything he can, to enjoy all the little things in Auradon- Gil, I still wanna cry thinking about you experiencing grapes for the first time…”
*end flashback*
“Gil, you’re a born leader, you have so many clever ideas, you’re sweet and funny and kind and you’re a survivor- you’re Uma’s pirate crew member AND you’re mine and Chad’s brother so that kinda already makes you the best.”
“We want you to be our brother, Gil. Not just because we miss our triplet but because we already love you. Simply because you’re you,” Chad says, ruffling Gil’s hair.
Gil was crying now, honest tears of pain and tentative joy and confusion all at once. “But I’m not smart and I’m clumsy and I can’t do princely things and lead a kingdom and I don’t know what to wear-!”
“Gil, sweet sunshine Gil.” Aricka takes his hands. “You will learn. Mother and father won’t step down from ruling until they’re sure and certain we can all three rule and work together.”
“Gillyweed you should accept their family offer,” Uma says. “Not to offend any royals in the room but Aricka and Chad are the best and brightest in Auradon and they want you to be the best and the brightest too, which you already are.”
“Uma… I didn’t know I was a prince-!”
“I know, bruiser. But you know, this isn’t such a bad thing. Now you can eat good food and grow healthy and learn new things like you’ve been wanting to. And you gain a better family than you had.”
Kit finally makes his way through the crowd of kids watching the proceedings. “Gil…” he says. “For years I’ve wondered what you look like. If you were happy. Safe. I should’ve known that you had been kidnapped to the Isle, but I want to make up for lost time. Please, please let us do the test to confirm what we already know; and then join us for the summer at our home- in Charmington. We would love to host you and Uma and Harry.”
“You could get better at swords and shields, take archery lessons… go swimming in the lake behind our castle..” Aricka listed.
“Go meet our aunt Anastasia’s husband, ride horses, meet Bruno and his pups…” Chad added.
“Meet our mice friends… go roller skating…. Eat ice cream…” Aricka continues.
“The list is endless-!” The twins exclaim at the same time.
“Please Gil? We’ve wanted to know you our whole lives. Please give us a chance,” Aricka says earnestly.
“Yeah; I’ve always wanted a little sister AND brother,” Chad says, him being the older of the twins.
“I’ve always wanted a little brother too,” Aricka says. “If I had to pick, I’d want you, Gilly.”
The boy looks between Aricka and Chad, clocks their earnest gazes, notes the grip Aricka still had on his hands, the smile on Chad’s face- one that mirrored his own- and nodded his head shyly. “Okay… sis,” he says: and then Aricka was crying again, but this time she was happy; and throwing her arms back around Gil and pulling Chad in with her; who grabbed his dad-!- and then the four of them were huddled together on the bed in a family group hug.
Ben clears his throat then, and everyone looks at the future king. “I can make arrangements for a dna test to be conducted here at the castle within the next hour if you want; king Kit,” he says.
Kit teasingly glares at his nephew, “now, none of that “King Kit,” nonsense,” he says. “Uncle Kit or Uncle Charming works just fine, come over here Benjamin.” And then Ben and all the other cousins hugged their uncle.
“Oh-! Dad we didn’t finish the introductions,” Aricka says, gripping Evie’s hand delicately yet firmly. “This is my dearest friend Princess Evie of Hanover. Evie; this is my dad.” Kit takes the girl’s hand and shakes it gently yet firmly like all the others.
“An honor to meet the girl responsible for my daughter’s newfound confidence,” the king says. “And this young man must be Carlos. Aricka and Chad tell me all about you in their letters home.” Carlos blinks but shakes Aricka’s dad’s hand as well. Then he notices Aricka Page and Sebastian White and smiles. “Miss Page, we meet once again,” he says. “And I finally meet the evasive boyfriend you always talk about when we meet.”
Aricka P grins and shakes Kit’s hand as well, “Seb doesn’t like being in public, he’s a bit shy,” she. “Prince Sebastian White of Hanover,” she adds. “It’s an honor to see you again King Charming.” Seb bows formally and nods his head at the king.
“Now,” Mal says. “King Charming says he’ll intercede for us, but what does that mean? And why do you care?”
Kit grows serious once more. “Because my daughter and sons have cousins over there. And you all obviously mean a great deal to my children. That enough is reason for me to intercede on your behalves.”

Harry a Uma "Uma is you who I love, you are my girlfriend"
************************************************************************ During the celebration, Harry thinks about his feelings after Uma's rejection, when trying to kiss her while he danced with Audrey. Harry ends up getting her help on how to correctly declare himself to his army Uma
************************************************************************ After Uma's rejection when trying to kiss her, Harry is going to dance with Audrey who, seeing what had happened between him and Uma, decides to help him by giving him advice on how to win Uma's heart.
************************************************************************ It was somewhat humiliating, to say the least. Standing alone at a party full of people. There were three other people with him just two seconds ago, but such a voice may have been too excited and one of them may have thrown Lena into the fire. Harry Hook, a week before this day, had spent more than half a year without his captain, and he was a miserable boy. As next in command, he was in charge of the crew, but every time he had to think like a captain, he only thought of his captain. When they finally met, everything was fine. Normal, in fact. They had acted as if the last handful of months had never happened, that she never plunged through the barrier to urge King Ben to love her, which resulted in losing another battle against Mal and getting lost in the sea. In fact, they were closer than ever. They were no longer limited to the hook grips and the reflective moments of contact. They were hugging each other. And not like the usual hand to grab the "thank you for the training game" log. These were real hugs. The guy in which he held her against his chest while she clung to his shoulders for a brief moment in time, or the guy in which he lifted her in the air and made her turn as if she had no weight. It was new, and it was great. Maybe now things are different now, Harry thought as he danced with her. Well, not with her. She was dancing with Evie, and he was behind her, at a respectful distance, of course. However, he longed to be by her side again, to embrace her closely as he had done before. There was something new there, but I had to be sure before asking him directly. Villainous children are not the best with things like "love" or "affection". However, they knew something very similar to both: jealousy.
"¿So she's definitely not single?"
I could already feel Uma's incredulous look bored on the side of her face before her question about Mal. He almost didn't hear Evie's response. He was too busy measuring Uma's reaction from his peripheral vision. He had his attention, that was for sure, so he went on to look at Evie. Dopey's son was the first to say something, reminding Harry that he was actually her boyfriend. For a moment, Harry couldn't help but admire that title. I wish I could endure it on behalf of someone else. He felt a hard slap on his arm. Speaking of names.
"¿What's my name?"
Yep, there's the reaction that Harry was looking for, the demand for his attention. That had to count for something, didn't it? Six months ago, he would have leaned on one knee and whispered his name as if it were his last breath, but when he turned to her and realized how close they were, he didn't want to risk further separation. I also didn't want to miss another moment in the flare as I used to do. I wanted to take advantage of the moment.
"Uma"
He said simply before bowing to finally give him his first kiss. But then she dodged him. …She pushed him. …She stepped back, pushed him back and walked away, a feeling of urgency in his step as if he needed to be somewhere else, or anywhere other than near him. And now, Harry was alone. Doug and Evie had left after Uma left, leaving him in a sadly open space in the crowd. He straightened up, cleared his throat and looked around for something, anything he could do to get his mind out of that mistake. Unfortunately, he was surrounded by optimistic Auadonians, none of whom were people he knew or whom he could easily approach with a pointed hook in his hand. Until one approached him. Well, I actually dance towards him, it would be more precise. A pink blur spread towards him, and he had to extend a hand to the stranger to prevent them from being knocked both down. When he finally glimpsed her face, he realized that it was Princess Audrey, dressed in a much less terrifying outfit than the last time he saw her.
"Hi"
It was all he could gather. No cunning flirting came to my mind after being brutally and humiliatingly rejected by Uma.
"Hi"
Audrey told him in return before giving him a small bow in the greeting. Before Harry could react, she took his hand, turned him under his arm and threw him back into the dancing crowd.
"¿What are you doing?"
Harry laughed nervously, he was already looking for Uma. If she caught him dancing with another girl, it would be the end of... Well, whatever they've been doing.
"I saw you as if you needed a saving"
Audrey replied, with a good glow in her eyes. They fell into rhythm with the music, mixing with the crowd of teenagers dancing around them.
"I know I wouldn't like to be caught alone at a party as big as this, so I thought you might want a friend."
"¿Do you want to be my friend?"
Harry asked, narrowing his eyes under suspicion.
"From what I've heard, you were never too fond of vks, even before you met us, so. ..."
Audrey's little smile falteled, and her gaze fell on her feet of guilt. When he looked back at him, his expression was solemn.
"Maybe I was also hoping to make a friend"
He cleared his throat.
"Or at least, excuse me for all the problems I caused you... and thank you for saving Auradon from me."
Now Harry felt uncomfortable. I wasn't used to someone seeming so hopeful to regret it. Usually, after a comment like his, he faced an equally bitter challenge about his own gloomy past. On the other hand, this was Auradon, land of good. Maybe he also needed to adjust his attitude.
"For a princess, I'm sure you know how to cushion the mood at a party"
Harry tried to make a joke, offering an unbalanced smile to Audrey. She laughed a little at his comment and shook her head in a good mood.
"Well, at least I didn't scare my baby at a party"
Audrey told him mischievously, although the meaning of his comment fell on deaf ears.
"What about me?"
Harry arched an eyebrow.
"Your baby"
Audrey repeated, a little surprised that she didn't know what she meant.
"You know, ¿'Before anyone else'? ¿That special person?"
Harry just kept looking confused. Audrey rolled her eyes.
"Uma"
It was clarified
"I'm talking about Uma."
"Oh shit"
Harry murmured, embarrassed as he reflected on what had just happened between him and his captain
"¿Did you see it?"
Audrey nodded in affirmation. To what Harry shyly scratched the back of his neck
"Was it really that bad?"
"She literally ran to the other side of the crowd"
Audrey answered seriously.
"You tell me."
Harry sighed, once again taking a look to make sure that Uma couldn't see him. Audrey realized her anxious behavior and tried to think of a way to relieve her tension, but her situation was very… one-sided at this time.
"Hey, I'm sure he couldn't see it been worse"
Audrey told him trying to comfort him, although he might not have said it at all seriously.
"I mean, I wouldn't be very happy if my boyfriend asked about other girls, but I'm sure you have a reasonable explanation."
"¿Boyfriend?"
That word caught Harry's attention in Audrey's rambling. He shook his head vigorously.
"No, no, Uma and I are not boyfriends, I haven't really asked her..."
He took a deep breath, remembering his thoughts and organizing his words before saying them, this time with much more care.
"We are just colleagues and friends."
"¿Really?"
Audrey asked in disbelief.
"Am, Sip.…".
"Wow"
Audrey reflected out loud.
"Sorry for assuming otherwise, I thought you were boyfriends because I remember that when you were singing and dancing in the scepter, the two of you together, so I assumed it… I'm sorry."
"Yes, then. ..."
Harry said although now with sadness.
"You weren't the only one who made false illusions."
Audrey looked at him with a bewildered expression for a moment, deciphering the underlying meaning in his words. Then, he realized the longing in his eyes as he looked at the other end of the clearing, where he saw no one else and nothing but Uma, dancing with the rest of his pirate crew.
"Ooooh"
Audrey smiled at him at last understanding it.
"You are 'only friends', but you wish you two were more than just friends."
Keeping his eyes on Uma, where they were so accustomed to staying, Harry pressed his mouth on a firm line. For so long he had kept his unspoken feelings. The only person close enough to him to tell him would be Uma herself, and the idea of telling him was terrifying. Now he had the opportunity to tell someone he barely knew, and he was actually considering it.
"On the Island"
He began to say in a very sad voice
"We don't really know the 'feelings' or 'falling in love' or anything like that"
He turned with his hands, taking his eyes away from his captain in favor of the silver instrument
"But she was acting differently in Auradon, so I thought maybe we could be different."
Audrey's lips pulled a small smile. Since Hades saved his life, he had thought a lot about his opinions about the VKS, and this book of pirates with a weakness for his friend clearly demonstrated what he concluded even more: they are all people with feelings. A villain has the ability to love as much as a hero has the ability to be bad.
"Well, I've learned something in the last few days"
Audrey told him wisely.
"It's just that keeping your feelings inside you won't benefit anyone."
He looked at her in bewilderment, and she nodded in Uma's direction.
"Go talk to her."
"¿Where would it start?"
Harry wondered, feeling like a useless tool.
"Well, an apology for being an idiot could be a good start"
Audrey joked. Then he took a quick look around him.
"However, I could recommend a more private location if you want to be honest with her."
"¿And do you think that would work, Audrey?"
Harry hesitated, but again, he was raised by villains. He had no other alternative in his back pocket.
"Just a way to find out"
Audrey gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, effectively pushing him in the direction of the girl of his dreams.
"Thank you, Audrey"
He said with a small smile before remembering something he forgot to mention
"Oh and by the way, my name is Harry."
"¡GO!"
Audrey encouraged, now pushing Harry away. As pleasant as it was to talk to someone without status or history being a problem, he felt excited to think that he could help another person to be happy. Now she really felt like one of the heroines. Harry approached the noisy group of pirates as if nothing totally out of the ordinary had happened. He got drunk with Jonas, gave Desiree a playfully rough slap on the back and kept up with the buzzing emotion that everyone felt when they were in Auradon for the first time. He almost forgot about his personal mission until he almost entered Uma.
"Hello Uma"
He said quickly, urgently to get his attention before she shrunk him again. He crossed his arms and dropped his hip, waiting expectantly for what he was going to say. He cleared his throat, almost drowning with the foreign words
"Hey, listen to me. ... Uma, I'm sorry."
"Wow, ¿is Harry Hook apologizing to me?"
Uma gasped, squeezing a hand against her chest with an exaggerated shock. There was a clue to a smile playing on his lips, betraying his bitter tone.
"I guess Auradon's kindness works faster than we thought."
"I'm sorry"
Harry started again, maintaining eye contact with a fierce determination.
"For having been an idiot with you before."
Uma nodded, impressed by the gesture, but still hesitated to respond. She herself couldn't explain what was going on with them, but she knew as well as he did that there was something. Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice when Harry took her hand with her free hand, in doing so both he and she felt sparks fly which made them feel a tingling in their palms still taken.
"Uma"
He said it in a low voice, throwing Uma away for a moment. I could hardly hear it because of the commotion.
"I really want to enjoy today with you and with our team."
He took a deep breath, gaining determination for the slightest softening of his expression.
"But there is definitely something we have to talk about later."
Uma took a moment to think, putting her lips together and looking at Harry up and down until she finally raised her other hand and wrapped a finger around the curve of her hook.
"Then save the conversation for later"
Uma smiled at him, somewhat blushing
"Let's enjoy the day."
Harry smiled, was relieved to have survived the encounter, and did what his captain said. They danced with their team, chatted with friends, old and new, and at the end of the party, everyone made their way under the arch of the castle in groups. Walking side by side with Uma was natural for Harry. What also felt natural for both of them was to join their arms just as they passed under the arch. It was a movement as fluid as swinging a machete, and none of them questioned it. Harry stood straighter as Uma leaned towards him, laughing all the way through the tunnel. In fact, they would have an interesting talk. The night had quickly fallen on Auradon, the day was swept away by the constant party followed by a voracious meal, and now the logistical part arrived: ¿Where were the newcomers going to stay?. Uma was working with Ben and Mal to put each villain child in a bedroom and each villain in a temporary living space. Harry understood that they needed additional help with the organization, so he left Uma to do her job. They agreed to meet later for their "chat". Meanwhile, Harry decided to walk around the school, taking the night air as he passed through the lush grass. It was hard to believe that in a few hours he would stay in one of those rooms, with air conditioning and silk sheets in abundance. It had taken a long time to arrive. A long time, but they were finally in Auradon. A flash of pink in the corner of Harry's vision caught his attention. He glanced at the stairs and saw Audrey standing on the steps, with one hand hanging freely from the railing. Thinking that he had some plenty of time, he went to her. When his steps reached Audrey's ears, she turned to him, with a friendly smile that welcomed him to his company.
"¿And what could a princess like you be doing here alone?"
Harry asked with a mocking sense of the cavalry. Even so, part of it was really curious. Audrey returned her attention to where she was: upstairs. Harry followed his eyes and discovered that he was looking at the highest tower of Auradon Prep, where he was standing only a few nights before, when he was still looking for revenge. Harry realized that this was a tense moment for her, since the silence lasted longer than she expected. Finally, Audrey sighed deeply.
"I liked to feel powerful"
He admitted, with a guilty edge that got into his tone.
"In fact, I enjoyed the idea of destroying Auradon if that meant that he could be the Queen, but..."
He crawled, biting his lip against a wave of sadness.
"... I never felt uglier in my life."
Harry took off an eyebrow in question, but he didn't say anything. This personal confession was without realizing it, and he knew that it was better than packing in the past luggage of a vulnerable woman (speaking from experience, of course). She was only telling him what she was ready to do, and he was fine being that friendly ear. That friend, in fact.
"All my life, I thought that being a princess and having status was what made me beautiful"
He continued, looking down at his hands.
"But I never realized that it was really horrible on the inside."
Now, Harry was a little lost. He didn't know her so well, so he didn't know she had a history of being a little obsessed with her real status. As much as he knew, she tried to take revenge on Auradon, and that's her whole story. He can't blame her. He supported Uma in the same effort.
"Well, I don't know anything about that, what he sighs"
Harry, trying to sound sincere. He climbed a step so he could put a reassuring hand on his arm.
"But from what I've seen today, I'd say you have some beauty to spare."
Audrey gave him a grateful smile. She was lucky to have danced with him. She had to admit that he was handsome and attractive, but she could say from a mile away that her heart is with another person. She wouldn't want to get in the way of people in love. She knew how she felt. Audrey put a hand on Harry's, a silent thank you to her new friend. Their comfortable moment stopped abruptly when they heard someone else clear their throat.
"¿Am I interrupting something?"
Harry turned, moving his arm away from Audrey, and found Uma standing behind him, with her arms crossed with a glow of disapproval stuck on his face. His apparent agitation went unnoticed by Harry, since he was only excited to see her.
"Hey, Uma"
He greeted her with an enthusiastic wave of his hook. He took a deep breath and deliberately relaxed his shoulders to have control despite the multiple butterflies in his stomach.
"¿Ready for that talk?"
"Saving your stupid talk, Harry"
Uma deviated, her low and monotonous tone. Harry's smile fell when he saw his hurt look he was looking at them between him and Audrey
"I've had enough of you for a day."
Uma turned around and began to get out of the clearing. Harry was frozen in his place, unable to make a move or even say a word. What has changed? He wondered, putting the scene back in his head. Even in the darkness of the night, he was able to clearly remember a touch of emotion in his expression.…¿Pain?.…He looked at Audrey, the panic was as evident in her face as in her bowels.
"I... I'm really sorry, Audrey"
He apologized quickly.
"I need to run away and solve all this."
"¿What are you still doing here then?"
Audrey asked rhetorically, pushing him with her hands.
"¡ANDALE, GO LOOK FOR HER NOW, HARRY!"
With a kind nod to the princess, Harry turned his heel and screwed himself in the direction in which Uma was heading. He clearly hurried to get out of there quickly because Harry felt that he had run a marathon when he found Uma approaching the edge of the Royal Garden.
"¡UMA!"
She ignored his calls, accelerating the pace in an attempt to evade him or at least convey that she didn't want to talk.
"¡UMA!"
"Leave me alone, Harry"
Uma snarled when he finally caught up with her. Harry ran in front of her to block her route, and the first thing he tried to do was walk around her. He eluded himself, keeping her in front of him. He held his arms in an extra measure to stop her and as the first line of defense.
"Uma, please"
Harry begged her without defering from her.
"Just listen to me."
"You just can't help it, ¿can you?"
Uma rebuked in an accusatory.
"You just have to go for anything with a pulse, as if that kind of thing doesn't mean anything."
"I swear it wasn't what you thought"
Harry explained to him desperately.
"Audrey and I were just talking."
"Yes of couse"
Uma nodded, but kept an advantage in her voice.
"You and Audrey were talking, but ¿what if we asked about Mal and Evie before, eh?"
Harry could no longer find his eye, unable to deny what he did.
"¿And what is this that I'm hearing about Jane?"
Harry clenched his fists, forcing himself to regain eye contact. Despite the ferocity of his radiance, he kept it with determination.
"Uma, it's not what you think"
Harry repeated to him without moving from where he was still standing in front of him.
"Just shut up Harry, please."
Uma admitted with a defeated shrug of shoulders. He bit his lip and suddenly took on a softer tone.
"I honestly thought that things were different between us for a minute, and that's up to me."
"¿Different?"
Harry repeated. ¿So she also feels the same way about him?
"But the fact is that I left for a while"
Uma pointed out, and Harry caught a glimpse of what he saw before. It was definitely a pain of some kind.
"And now I see that you clearly have better things to do than hanging out with me."
Harry furrowed his forehead, confused about how Uma could even consider that as a possibility. However, before she could object, Uma raised her hands in surrender and slapped with a bitter smile.
"¿You know what? Have fun with that."
She took a quick step around her, but Harry quickly caught her arm.
"Uma"
He said his name with as much sincerity and respect as he could gather. He stopped walking, but still refused to face him. Even so, he continued with his please
"Please, let me explain it to you."
Uma reluctantly turned around, still without looking at him directly, and shrugged indifferently. Harry nodded to a stone bench in the garden. He let go of his arm in favor of taking her hand and guided her. They both sat down, Harry never let go of his hand.
There was a rhythm of silence, only stained by the low buzzing of the crickets and electric lamps around the garden. Harry finally broke the silence between them.
"I also realized that something was..."
He turned his brain around trying to find the right word.
"... changing between us, but I was too afraid to ask."
He leaned forward, trying to get her attention, but she kept her gaze fixed on the cobbled road. He settled for rubbing small circles on the back of his hand with his thumb. He broke a smile.
"I'm not silly, Uma"
Harry laughed half-heartedly
"I know that Mal is going to get married, and Evie was clearly involved with that green guy."
"Then ¿why did you ask about them?"
Uma responded, keeping her voice down so as not to betray any emotion.
Harry shrugged his shoulders shyly.
"I wanted to see how you would react"
His answer was honest, but he made Uma narrow his eyes. I knew it sounded bad despite his intentions.
"I was thinking that maybe if you saw me interested in other people, your reaction could give me a clue as to how you feel about me."
Uma didn't respond immediately. She was digesting her confession slowly, trying to decide on a proper reaction. Should I be angry or... ¿halaid?
"¿And what about Jane?"
She deviated, finally looking at him.
"Actually, I just wanted to scare the party"
Harry laughed.
"We may be in Auradon now, but I'm still a little scared."
To Harry's surprise, his joke managed to make Uma laugh. It was brief, but it was something.
"But that's irrelevant right now"
Harry proceeded once his shared fun was extinguished. He gave him a gentle squeeze in the hand to emphasize his sincerity
"Right now, I'm telling you that I'm sorry for playing like this."
His eyes were thrown between his own, in search of a crack in his determination, but all he saw was the sincere will of his first companion. The corner of his mouth became entched with a small smile.
"You've been in Auradon for too long."
"You've been here longer than me"
Harry pointed out to him.
"Fry enough"
Uma laughed, and Harry enjoyed seeing her smile. She sighed deeply, something heavy in her mind.
"And I guess I also owe you an apology."
Harry raised an eyebrow at the statement, unable to think of anything he had to regret.
"To always run away instead of just talking about things with you"
He continued, shaking his head at his own ridiculous antics.
"I'm getting so…"
He crawled, wrinkling his nose and grinding his teeth as he tried to find the right word.
"…Angry when you talk to people like that."
Harry bowed his head, looking at her with a strange feeling in his gut. The wasps in his stomach were gone, but there was something else there. Something light. Something I had been feeling all week, but I hadn't recognized it until that day.
"Well, if that calms you down"
Harry offered him, releasing his hook to take his other hand and place them both on his knees, which were pressed against each other.
"I promise not to flirt with everyone I see."
Uma snorted and rolled her eyes. The promise was stupid, but I couldn't deny the pleasure it brought him to listen to her.
"That would make me feel better"
He admitted when a mischievous smile took its place on his lips. His voice took on a mocking tone.
"Although, if you don't, ¿how the hell is the great Harry Hook going to have a date again?"
Harry gave him an unbalanced smile.
"I have some ideas."
He leaned forward, much slower this time to measure his approval. She didn't move backwards, or to the side, or even forwards. She stood still and waited. Even when he approached, nothing changed. His eyebrows rose with expectation, as if he were still waiting for him to explain his "idea." Until, finally, her lips connected with hers. He ignited a shock through Harry's body, only making that light feel more prominent, as if it were flying. It wasn't like kissing a sleeping princess. She was kissing him, returning the slightest pressure. When he finally retired, looking at his beautiful face with nervous astonishment, he was happy to find his once pedregina expression that melts into one of happiness. He couldn't hide the smallest laugh as he shook his head.
"That could work"
He smiled, biting his lip. She approached him so she could rest her head on his shoulder, and Harry let go of one of his hands to wrap an arm over his shoulders. He put his chin on his head and kept her close, repeating his moment again and again in his mind with emotion and hope for his future. Over Uma's head, Harry noticed a whisper in the bushes. Uma didn't seem to hear it, but Harry narrowed his eyes on the mountain. It wasn't until he saw a mixture of blond, pink and blue hair coming out of the bush that he relaxed. Audrey gave him a thumbs up and a proud smile, and he winked in return. I was as excited to have her as a friend as I was to have Uma as his.

Chapter 5
Tears Fall Into The Sea
Masterlist
"You know how Ursa means bear? It's fitting that I end up with a Beast."
Ben Florian Beast x Ursa, daughter of Ursula (OC)
Trigger Warning: mentions of suicide and depression
✧༝┉˚❋ ❋˚┉༝✧
“Mal!”
“Hey, Ben!”
He looks to the other VKs surrounding her and says, “Can I talk to you in private?”
“Okay.” The VKs share each other ‘knowing looks’ as Ben and Mal start walking to a secluded area. “You know, I didn’t see you after the Tourney game. Congratulations, by the way.”
“Thank you.” Ben pauses before saying, “I actually wanted to talk to you about what happened before that.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah.” He looks around to make sure no one is listening in and says, “I’m flattered you have a crush on me but I am disappointed that you love spelled my cookie.”
“Technically it’s a love potion-” Mal realizes her mistake. “Wait, what? H-how did you know?”
“It doesn’t matter how.” Ben runs his hands through his hair in frustration. “I won’t tell anyone because you don’t need another reason for people not to trust you.
“I brought you here to Auradon Prep because I believe in you. Don’t blow it.”
Ben walks away from Mal. She stares after him with doe eyes and a frown on her face.
✧༝┉˚❋ ❋˚┉༝✧
Ursa is used to stares following her, first because of her status as coming from the Isle, but now the stares got worse with Ben next to her. After the Tourney game, Ben stopped hanging out with Chad and Audrey and instead hung out with her. Audrey was seen kissing Chad and them being all romantic together, so it was clear to everyone that Baudrey was no more.
They’re chatting about their plans for the weekend getaway during lunch (Lonnie is busy finishing her homework that is due today in the library.) when Ursa says, “I still don’t get it.”
Ben furrows his eyebrows. “About what?” He takes another bite of his food.
“Why-why are you hanging out with me? Why eat lunch with me, when you haven’t before? Why are you walking me to class when you can?”
He takes a moment to mull over his thoughts before saying, “I’m sorry for leaving you to sit alone during lunch every time Lonnie couldn’t sit with you. Au-My previous friends didn’t exactly want to… sit with anyone else. But now, I don’t want to sit with them anymore after what they’ve done to you and after what I’ve seen them do to other people they think are subordinate to them.
“As for the other questions, you just have to accept that I like talking to you.” He gives Ursa an unreadable smile again. “And we’re friends, aren’t we?”
“We are?”
“I-if you want to.” Ben’s suddenly nervous.
Ursa never had a friend outside of Lost Revenge and Dizzy. She doesn't know if Lonnie counts either. “I-I would like that,” she says while giving him a shy smile.
The smile returns to his face brighter than ever.
✧༝┉˚❋ ❋˚┉༝✧
Ursa’s reading a book she borrowed from the library (which she is fixated on) when Lonnie comes in, out of breath, and sits next to her. “I’m so sorry again for leaving you to sit alone during lunch, it’s just that I can’t work somewhere noisy and with a high chance of getting food on my homework. Again, I’m so sorry.”
Lonnie is finally settled in her seat when Ursa says, “It’s okay, I sat with Ben.”
“With Audrey and Chad?”
“Hell no, it was just us…” Ursa adds, “He’s not really talking to the two of them anymore.”
“Finally, he’s too good for the two of them,” says Lonnie. “But why?”
“He,” Ursa mulls over what to say, “finally got tired of how they treat other people.”
Lonnie’s smiling at her like she knows something Ursa doesn’t.
Ursa asks, “What?”
“How was it?”
“It was… fine?”
“Just fine?”
“What else am I supposed to say?”
“The truth!”
Ursa smiles, remembering their time together. “It was… nice.” With a smile on her face she’s trying to smother, Ursa pushes Lonnie and urges her to look forward.
✧༝┉˚❋ ❋˚┉༝✧
Ursa’s dreading her therapy session. It’s been going good. She’s been getting medicine, which made going through her days easier. Her therapist, Miss Hope (which is just what Ursa needed, as she’s always felt hopeless), managed to rat out all her trauma from being on the Isle and all the horrible memories she had that led to who she is now. They’ve been meeting once every week, and Miss Hope has been teaching her better coping mechanisms than the ones Ursa had been accustomed to using.
But, as Ursa has been realizing, having better coping mechanisms and learning to reframe her thoughts, means that Ursa has to learn how to live her life, which she hasn’t learned before because all she’s been doing is surviving, which she was already bad at (on account of her suicidal thoughts). Other than learning about how to survive her thoughts and feelings, she realized she also has to learn how to transcend her depression. She has to learn to live, as in expecting the future and preparing for it, gaining friends and being good to others, managing her time properly and compartmentalizing, practicing self-regulation, and all the other life skills she hasn’t learned before.
Part of Ursa wants to revert to her old, extremely depressed self because she’s afraid of failing to live her life, which she hasn’t felt in a while. Now that she cares about her life, now that she’s found hope for the future, she has to learn how to live. She’s afraid of living because she knows her depression set her back, which means she has to try harder to do so. To Ursa, it seems like being well and being ill both give her hardships to face.
To someone other than herself, she knows it may sound silly or strange, but this has been brewing in her heart into a big problem. Which is why she’s dreading her therapy session.
So when Ben walks with her (something he has been making a habit of) to the Guidance Office of Auradon Prep, he notices the dilemma brewing in her mind.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah! Yeah.”
“You know you can tell me anything, right?”
“I mean, even if I tell you this, I don’t think I’ll make sense.”
“It’s okay. Just try it.”
And so she tells him, in a tangential way, what has been bothering her at the moment, to which he says, “I get it.”
“There’s no way that you get it.”
“I may not get it exactly, but I do know the feeling of, ‘What if I just give up? My claim to the crown, my academics, all my sports, what if I just give it all up?’ And trust me, it gets very tempting sometimes.”
“And then what do you do?”
“I think of the people counting on me. All of Auradon is counting on me. They’re my people. It is a great privilege to become their king, and I owe it to them to help them the best I can.
“You have Uma, your sister, and Lost Revenge, your crew, and me and Lonnie, your friends, counting on you to live. They would want you to live. I want you to live.”
Ursa mulls it over for a while, until they reach the office.
“Thanks, Ben, for helping me make sense of it,” she says, smiling at him.
Returning the smile, he says, “That was basically a therapy session with the crown prince of Auradon. That has a price, you know.”
“Charge it to the royal family, my therapy sessions are covered by you, anyway.”
He gapes at her and puts a hand on his heart, saying, “The audacity!”
They laugh together.

Spelled (Carlos de Vil x Sanderson Daughter) Descendants 3- Ch. 1: A New Beginning
Tumblr media
“Fire burn and cauldron bubble, show me what’s the latest trouble.”
The indigo concoction in the giant cauldron churns and boils, erupting with cold mist. Below, an image of the Isle appears just as the familiar black limo drives over a new bridge. What are you up to, Ben?
“Anything important?” Uma asks from across the room.
“Nothing important to us… so far.”
For the past month I’ve kept tabs on Ben’s- or, Mal’s plans, biding my time for the opportune moment. After I vanished from the garden, I wound up at the forest edge near the sea. I did some exploring and found a sturdy cave with the perfect space to practice my magic. Of course by being close to the water, Uma found me easy as pie. When I explained what happened after she disappeared, Uma agreed to be allies and act as my scout. I must say, the freedom of having no limits has been the best month of my life! I’ve learned so much about transportation, levitation, telekinesis, and transformation spells! And yet… it’s still a prison.
"You want a pineapple?" Uma asks.
"Wha-? Oh, no thanks."
She shrugs and holds up the spiked fruit. "More for me!"
I almost forget just how much is new to her since it's the first time Uma's been off the Isle.
I check the cauldron again and my heart clenches when I see Carlos step out of the limo. “They’re planning on bringing more VKs today. Maybe I could sneak over and-”
“No way, Sparky! Now’s not the time to be rushing into things.”
I groan and walk over to stare off at the ocean. “Uma, I can’t just hide in this cave forever! Sooner or later I want to leave and go home.”
She cocks an eyebrow and crosses her arms. “What if your daddy just has them lock you away?”
“He would never do that! He’s my father, he’ll protect me. I just want a normal life without everyone using me for my magic or trying to lock me up!”
She steps into the water and shifts into her octopus form. “Sure, keep on believing that. I’m gonna go check out the new meat.”
I flash her a warning look. “Be nice, Uma. They’re just kids.”
But she just ignores me and disappears below the surface. Don’t get me wrong, I am no fan of Auradon by any means. But I do hold a soft spot for the kids on the Isle. After seeing how they’re just like me, seeing how much they want a better life, it gives me a purpose worth fighting for even if I’m given no credit.
I grab more ginger root and begin a fear draught.
“And what’s that for?” Binx asks from the bookshelf. Both he and Twilight have been snoozing most of the day.
I roll my eyes. “For educational purposes. It’s not like I’m actually going to poison someone with this.”
“Then why brew it?”
“Just in case I feel like having fun.” I almost don’t believe my own words.
Binx hops down and starts pacing. “I’m not sure about this, Magica. Ever since your fight with Carlos you’ve been much more… disturbed.”
His words tug at my conscience but I ignore him and continue to mix the draught.
“I know what I’m doing, Binx. I’m finally free to do what I want, free of judgment. For once I can actually live without fear of failing anyone!”
“At what cost? You’ve always done this, Magica. Isolate yourself, grow your powers only to plunge back into society and lose control. Have you ever thought about giving up magic-”
I cut him off with a flaming warning finger. “Don’t you dare suggest that. I know I’m more than just my magic, but it’s all I have left! Without my magic I’m just a weak, pathetic girl who has no friends and no future.”
Binx goes to argue but I brush past and start crushing dried peppermint leaves. “Soon enough I’ll leave here and find Father, all in good time. Then we can go back to the cottage and I’ll never have to worry about being alone or hurting anyone ever again.”
I see Binx’s face and immediately know what he’s thinking, because I’m thinking of it too. What if I can’t find Father? Is the future I’m planning really just a fake promise to myself?
“I have returned!” Uma announces from the cave entrance.
“So who’s the new group?” I ask unenthusiastically as I stir.
“Dizzy, Squeaky and Squirmy, and Celia. They’re part of the new student program. Also Hades almost escaped, which left Mal a little drained.” Uma smirks. “I think our time approaches soon.”
I scrunch my nose. “Hades? Why in Auradon would he try to escape? He’s got no authority here, only in the underworld. But whatever. I’ve got bigger fish to fry.” I shoot her a kidding glance when she flinches. “Only joking. Since you’ve given me the thumbs up, whaddya say we go meet the new students?”
“No.” Uma shakes her head and goes to grab some sushi out of the fridge. “It’s still too risky. Besides, from how Mal reacted to Hades I’d say she’s not gonna accept you too quickly. Have you seen how much security she’s got? One look at you and they’ll send you off to the Towers for sure!”
This news makes my concerns grow darker. “Towers? As in… like a prison?”
Uma doesn’t answer right away, deciding if she should say more. “Now that Mal’s declared a witch hunt for me, no offense, she had Ben build a prison called the Towers for criminals. Since they’re trying to eventually reopen the barrier she thought it’d be safer to have that instead.”
Each word sends me spiraling deeper into the doubt and fear that’s been creeping into my head. After everything I’ve done… everything I’ve worked for… How can they act so cold?
My silence leads Uma to become uneasy. “You ok Sparky?”
I shake my head as purple flames keep flashing from my hands, the entire cave starting to shake. I look to Binx for help, but all he can offer is expression of pity.
“Somewhere deep in me I always thought I’d never be able to change their minds, never be accepted as someone… normal. And since when does Ben just go along with whatever Mal says? He should know me better and speak on my behalf! He- They- I… I’m done playing by their perfect rules!”
I grab my cloak and storm out onto the beach with Uma rushing after me.
“Where are you going?”
“To sulk someplace where my heritage is supposed to be locked up, and maybe find a new purpose for myself.”
With that I spin and vanish in a cloud of purple smoke.
