Hi I’m here to present you with another au but like, Shanks asks Buggy to keep an eye on Luffy and Foosha in general and Buggy acts like it’s a big deal but goes and he keeps at a distance at first. He befriends Makino first (She knows Shanks, and knowing Shanks asked him to show up sometimes as a favor to try check on them did a lot in terms of gaining her trust) and Luffy can’t help but run head first at dangerous individuals to try and pack bond with them. He starts dragging Ace and Sabo to meet up with his friend and it’s all great, Ace and Sabo think Buggys weird but tentatively trustworthy due to Makino liking him and Buggy fondly thinks Ace is feral and Sabo is a little too into arson.

They figure out Buggy and Shanks sailed with Rogers though, either through some drunk guys talking shit or Garp muttering about how he knew them when they were Rogers cabin brats and Luffy thinks it’s sick but Ace feels betrayed, as if the reason why Buggy has been around and cares about them and teaches them tricks has just been because of Rogers and Ace is just so mad about it until someone points out that Buggy didn’t even show up knowing who Ace was and he literally only knows him because of Luffy.

Idk if it be better if Garp like, came face to face with Buggy because Garps motivated by mysteries to me but I like to think they have some sort of agreement about it, Garp knows Buggy can handle himself and he’s not teaching his grandsons anything outright piratey, and Buggy is kinda afraid of Garp but he’s ride or die for the boys by then. They’re bonded by the mission of “what the fuck have the boys done now?”. Who knows maybe they somehow jointly acquire Koby too. (Buggy “kidnaps” him from Alvida, but it’s also a rescue. Garps involved because Buggy wants to make it abundantly clear that while he did steal a kid, it was for a good reason and hey, this one wants to be a marine. They’re coparenting with Dadan and Makino in the weirdest way)

I LOVE the AUs where Buggy is a parental figure to the ASL brothers (it's my headcanon that Buggy would be an actual good parent)

You know that favor had a lot of begging and pleading on Shanks's end, you have to know that. Bro, is pulling every card that makes Buggy feel sympathy... but it's more like 'Please stop, this is an embarrassing to witness' and Buggy does it.

Makino and Buggy friendship are something I really like when it happens, I wish there's more of this AUs. Luffy, Ace, Sabo, they are all feral and headcanon Buggy is too in some extent as well.

Don't worry Ace, it's not at all about you, it was Luffy that Shanks wanted Buggy to watch over. You were a lovely surprise for the clown, but Buggy doesn't think of you as just as the son of Roger. He knows that feeling of being in someone's shadow, so you are just Ace to him. Ace that likes to beat the shit of people with a metal pipe and your fists in the forefront. Don't worry, who you are matters more than who your parents are to Buggy and your siblings. (Rambling, sorry)

thinking about shanks and makino being protective of each other and of luffy. like they have their differences and shanks is dysfunctional but if makino was ever in trouble you know he'd come running. if something ever happened to shanks you know she'd take care of him. and they'll always be united on wanting the best for luffy, even if that looks different for each of them. they'd both die for that kid. idk im just. they're THIS ok

I’m kind of latched to the theory that Shanks is the descendant of a celestial dragon and was saved by Roger. I’ve also been kind of inspired by Kuma’s backstory. I think Shanks would have mixed feelings about having a family when he knows it would put them in danger. Don’t know where I’m going with this little comic I guess I just wanted to draw some drama 😅
