I fell into a pattern of simply filling up spindles over the last few months. So here’s the 100s of meters of thread that needs to be de-spindled, plyed, & finished.
Its "flat smells like wet sheep"-day again - aka finishing the yarns I made during the last... month? I guess.
The first three skeins of the Merino-Lyocell fibres I got in Leipzig I like the colours. I think the first two are a liiittle bit undertwisted but I leave them like that.
Everything that got a hot bath today. Plus an undyed Merino/silk that is already in the water. The violet at the bottim is Merino/silk the rest Merino. (Maybe I need a bit more variety)
Sadly the black in the black/blue skein bled a little into the blue which makes me sad...
Again, another video that would make my OC Katarina Koser go bonkers with joy: carding, spinning, weaving wool yarn
Dude, she'd be SO STOKED that this sort of information is on the internet. (She'd be amazed the internet exists, first of all.) And the fact that young people are excited about textiles and fiber arts enough to make videos about it? She'd be jumping for joy! 😍
hey yeah sorry about your boyfriend. yeah i spun him into yarn, sorry. he was really soft and easy to work with. if you want, i could make him into a sweater? that way you can still wear him. no? ok. sorry.
Spinning some merino on my new Mingo&Asho glasspin.
I taught myself to spin supported earlier this year. I found fleegle style spinning to be the most comfortable on my support spindles as its a kind of unsupported style which accommodates short or long draw.
Do you like watching my spinning videos? Should I do more of my spins?
My next two skeins of yarn. I like to use a few days of my fiber advent calendar together, knowing that what I make is completely unique!
One was made from days 10, 11, and 12 (I think of it as peach pie) and the other was made from the fiber from days 13, 14, and 15 (I’m thinking it’s mango trifle).
I have not washed or measured either skein yet - but it’s interesting how different two 3-plies can be!
I never seem to talk about it anymore but I still make things! I have a ton of project photos that I'll be posting as I'm organizing my backups. This is an Iggy Peck sweater out of handspun polwarth, with needle-felted steeks.
I love when people tell me I make clothing wrong. I love when they tell me “you have to knit sweaters from a yoke” and “you have to sew a back rip stitch for a garment zipper” because I don’t! I don’t!!! I can make clothing however I like! I knit sweaters from the bottom up in panels on straight needles! I sew my zippers on by hand with embroidery thread! And guess what?! The sweaters look like sweaters! The zippers work like zippers! The SNOZBERRIES taste like S N O Z B E R R I E S!!
