i watched like 3 seasons of Hannibal and looking back on it i'm realizing it didn't really make me feel anything or think about anything in a new way. the only thing i thought while watching it was "wow these guys are fucked up" and the main thing i felt was "this is awesome lol"

#and i would recommend it #it just didn't leave any impression on me except for interested in hannibal and will's dynamic #i guess i was pretty interested in the way will saw the world too but a good show usually makes me think about the big things #i guess what really surprises me is that the biggest thing in the show was the relationship between will and hannibal #and in most similar shows aren't like that. the biggest thing is usually the action and plot #idk if i want to put this in the show's tag bc it might be taken as hate or maybe most people feel differently #maybe the story at large was more interesting than i remember or i missed some nuances #i'm not good at analyzing movies all the time #especially cinematographry and lighting kind of stuff. it doesn't really click for me #hannibal #i was probably supposed to think about relationships and abuse in general but it really doesn't #i have trouble comparing their dynamic to any other couples or groups in media or real life #but like when the guy put a body in a horse. was that supposed to represent something meaningful? like hannibal explained what it meant #but i didn't really care about whether or not i agreed with the statement it was making

I know that it may feel inpossible, but the future of society and the Earth could very well be bright. Things may change significantly for the better in the next 20-30 years. It is not certain that things will be worse.

As humans, we should be trying our best to fight for a better world in whatever ways we can. If we do not fight, then there's not likely going to be change. Helping can be as simple as being kind to others, or, if you are able, being as big as starting up projects that help fight for what we believe in more directly. We can just talk about our wishes, avoid supporting what we are opposed to, and support what we want.

However, your own well-being matters, and it is important not to push yourself too hard; doomscrolling is harmful, as is putting yourself through more stress than you can reasonably handle in general. Additionally, it is okay if you are unable to do any of these for some reason or another. You are not a bad person because you happened to shop at a place that you are morally opposed to, especially when you had little choice in the matter, and you are not a bad person for not attending bigger events. Just do what you feasibly can whilst also taking care of yourself.

Regardless of what you, personally, do, we can hope for a better future. It is not impossible, and you doing even the littlest of things to help is excellent.

@fairuzfan asked people to create and share art for the strike. i wrote an artist statement and then set about trying to draw what i envisioned. artist statement below.

This golem is a protector that I wish I could gift to the children and adults in Gaza. The flag on its forehead is to show that love for the Palestinian people is an animating force for people fighting for a free Palestine all over the world, especially for those in Palestine who are trying to free themselves and their people. Love is the motivation for the call for a free Palestine, not hatred like people try to claim. It is very strong and fast and can catch air strikes out of midair and crush them to dust or throw them back in the direction they came from. It can lift all the rubble of a collapsed building very quickly so nobody can get trapped underneath. It has an earth oven in its back with an ever-burning flame that people can use to warm themselves and cook food and heat water to use to bathe themselves or make tea. Pieces of its clay can be crumbled up and mixed into water to make even the most brackish and unclean water pure and safe to drink.

The golem is always a bit of a tragic figure so I don't imagine it staying around forever once Palestine is free and it is no longer needed. I think it would use its great strength to help rebuild the destroyed houses, churches, schools, universities, hospitals, and mosques and then dive into the Jordan river and dissolve. It would clean the river of all pollution and make the water splash up over all the newly replanted fruit trees, causing them to grow big and strong. Its love for Palestine and its people can be tasted in the fruit they grow for generations.

I choose a specifically Jewish icon of protection because of how it feels to witness such horrors done in the supposed name of Judaism and the Jewish people. For many anti-zionist Jews, we feel like we are acting directly within the teachings of our stories and communities by opposing this genocide. It is difficult to understand how the very people and institutions who taught us these values now fight against them so fiercely. While obviously I would still oppose Israel were I not Jewish, the way I oppose Israel is directly informed by my Jewishness. I hope that someday, somehow, Judaism can bring as much joy and support to the Palestinian people as it has brought grief and destruction. That Jewish symbols used in the name of love and justice will bear more significance than the ones used in shows of hatred. Knowing the depth of the harm caused, I do not know if this is possible. But this artwork and everything I have dedicated myself to these past few months and continue to dedicate myself to in the future is born from this hope. I love you. Thank you for being on this planet with me. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free! And it will be beautiful.

She shakes her head, “No tv.” He raises a brow, “Don’t,” you chuckle. “Go babe,” You say, grabbing her plate and letting her run off to do god knows what in the living room. 

“She’s never gonna learn,” Simon sighs, watching his baby run around throwing her toys in the air, causing destruction. “That’s your fault.” you laugh. Simon gets up, clearing his plate, “I know,” he admits, rubbing your very swollen belly. 

“They’re gonna be worse!” he dips down to peck your stomach, “I’m gonna go change.” He says stretching. 

When he comes out to the living room, You on the couch and your Simon duplicate rolling around on the floor while her cartoons play in the background. “What are you doing, bug?” He gets on the floor also, laying on his back, letting his daughter roll around him, occasionally kicking his side or slapping him in the face accidentally. 

You were on your phone not paying attention to the two on the floor, Until it got quiet, Your daughter sitting on Simon's stomach while he laid on the floor, both of them staring at the tv. 

“You okay?” you say looking up from your phone. 

Simon looks at you, “Tv.” he mumbles and gets right back to it. You tap him with your foot, “Since she’s down, get her pigtails out.” He nods, swatting your foot away from his shoulder. 

He lifts her with so much ease, and takes the rubber bands from her out so easily and quickly, Playing with the warm honey curls that sit on top of her head, massaging her scalp a little. 

Simon sat on the floor with his back on the couch and your guy's daughter between his legs, he played with her hair, her big brown eyes getting droopy with sleep. 

“I need to give her a bath,” You whisper to Simon who was too invested in Mulan. “C’mon buggie, Bath and then we go to sleep.” You say reaching for her, She nods.

You bathe her, and get her under the covers in no less than 45 minutes. 

Simon holding her in his arms, rocking her back and forth just like he did when she was a newborn, “You sleepy buggie?” he mumbles to her, she nods her eyes closed and head on his shoulder, “Me too.” he sighs, placing his hand on top of her head, “Let’s make night-night.” He places her on her toddler bed, under five minutes she’s out, small snores leave her mouth.
