Not sure I made a post about it but it is weird how The Bear S2 ended up becoming elite service worker propaganda. Like just because you work for the fanciest restaurant doesn't mean being an underpaid overworked service worker is the most fulfilling life affirming job. Like it's real whiplash to have S1 showing how hospitality will eat you up and spit you out no matter if you're trained/untrained, then going to S2 with scenes of Ritchie finding his """calling""" in customer service or like the staff in general feeling better about themselves just because they're wearing a fancier uniform or using shiny sharp knives. like yes money makes us feel good but are the workers actually getting that money? The show is completely silent on wages because it would create a gaping plot hole to highlight it. A start up fancy restaurant already struggling to open on time isn't gonna have the money to pay their staff but the bear doesn't talk about that. It talks about if you work for a 5 star restaurant you will love it. Not you will be looked after while at work and btw this is not about pre work training that Marcus and Tina got to do, which was a genuinely nice thing. It's the silence on the matter of if these workers will be treated like human beings, be able to take leave or have no overtime or take home their tips or whatever else. It's just: work for a good restaurant and you will Be Happy. And I think that's so weird and I hope it all crumbles to an awful dumpster fire in the next season.
