This is a Homestuck fic I am probably never going to come back to called "On the Religious Significance of Bees". It's about Sollux. Here are some of my notes.

I think so much abt the role of other bugs in troll society bc like… if trolls are a kind of insect (like they’re kitty cats but they are also bugs and also like… sea creatures…. There are a lot of discongruent physical elements in trolls headcanons and i love that) what do they then think about the bees. I feel like i read somewhere once that some cultures worship and revere bees for providing honey to humans…. Is this true in troll society and if so how does the psychoactive properties of Mind Honey play into this…

Like i feel like you could build a whole “no sburb au” for Sollux based solely on themes of like, religious guardianship over bees.

@madtumbleson is doing some volunteer work with Open Doors (the program for migrating fic archives to AO3). They’re looking at a Sheppard/Weir archive called Command Dynamics, but the contact form on the site is broken. The owner was named Robin, and I think they might have gone by qwirky back in the day? 32. Summarize a random fic of yours in 10 words or less.

I make myself laugh by referring to my latest as Kim Kitsuragi Hypothermia Whump Simulator. I mean, I’m not wrong. Since I get 5 more words I guess I could add (bonus early relationship anxiety overtones), mwah. 

35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!

I’ve been thinking a lot of my own relationship to my fic recently, specifically about like, the structures of the fic that I’m drawn to in a new fandom. In particular the progression from “short indulgent fic, not needing context” > “okay, another indulgent fic, more context” > “backstory fic” > “longfic” > “AU that is ambitious and gets at something in my soul” > “ambitious collab”. It’s...a pattern in the last two big love affairs? so far, on track for Disco Elysium to be the same, so we’ll see how that goes....

19. Do you prefer canon-compliant, AUs, or something in-between?

I’m usually vaguely canon-compliant. Like...a thing happens and we sail off from canon at that point, but it’s usually canon compliant until then. Then it’s an AU (usually where there’s a baby), but we usually start canon compliant. If it’s an AU, I like to read the ones that are way closer. I like one change, not “the characters run a coffee shop” or something because I like space. I like the adventure and the challenge, mundane things aren’t as interesting to me.

23. Do you prefer prompts and challenges, or completely independent ideas?

I used to really enjoy prompts and challenges when I had more time. Now I’m usually mildly overwhelmed with my life and so lacking in fic time that I only want to do my very close to the heart ideas.

Philippe? ADHD. Literally every time I’ve written Philippe I’ve written him as ADHD. 

Both Margrid and Philippe are bi as Hell but this will probably literally never come up except for in offhanded remarks because I only really focus on them with each other. But. Still bi. (For what it’s worth, Philippe’s sim self, or, as I call him, Simléans, did have at least....I want to say 3 guys in his overall line of conquests? Including the time that he woohooed the wife to death as an elder and then promptly “consoled” the husband with copious woohoo. That shockingly enough did NOT kill him.)

In Modern AUs, Philippe listens to 80s music (Bon Jovi in particular is a favorite, as are Aerosmith and AC/DC), Margrid to 90s-early 2000s (Avril Lavigne and Icon For Hire are favorites). If they were to ever get married, she’d have to talk him down from “Come on Eileen” as a first dance.

Minkowski - Vibed with her most before Maxwell came along! 

Lovelace - She’s so badassssss and she’s lost so much but still chose to carry on ;u; Also Minlace SLAPS.

Hera - I feel bad putting Hera here but it just... worked out that wayyyy. I LOVE her so much and could probs rearrange her and the others in the bottom 3 but yeah... she’s just... here... a.... Maybe if I weren’t a dumb 17 yr old who believed in purity culture when I first got into this podcast I would’ve shipped her with Maxwell and gotten more into her character whoops

5.  do you write both prose or poetry? which do you prefer?

Since reaching my mature state as a writer(TM) today, I only write prose. Poetry is too hard and is for gods and weavers.

Prefer? I mean it’s apples to oranges, they’re totally different forms. I like them both, for different reasons.

9.  a writer/poet whose life you find very interesting?

Uh, John Darnielle, I suppose? I’m really not the type to research the personal life of people whose art I admire. 

14.  how often do you write?

Honestly, it’s a not great day if I don’t at least write something. Or edit/post/reread.

That is not the least bit surprising. Gabriel is very committed to his...not quite dead wife? (I half pay attention so I’m not entirely sure what’s going on there) but yeah, he and Nathalie...she’s very committed too. What’s with this show and one sided affections?

🖍️ When did you start drawing? Do you remember?  

So of COURSE there’s the whole: I’ve been drawing since I’ve been able to pick up a pencil. Which is TRUE. But I remember getting super involved in like 1st grade one day when me and my friend were drawing Spongebob of all things then something just kinda clicked and I decided to keep doing that for the rest of my life basically.
