Why the Internet Shouldn’t Just Forgive Emma Roberts
(This is going to be such a long post, I do apologise in advance)
So, some of you might have seen that transgender actress Angelica Ross (Pose, 1984, Double Feature) made several tweets a couple of days ago detailing ongoing issues she had with Ryan Murphy. In addition to this she also tweeted that someone had been transphobic to her on the set of American Horror Story.
Will also tell you about the transphobic remarks my co-star said to my face, and the racism I complained about on set that they said was “free speech”.
There was a lot of speculation as to who the co-star was who made these transphobic remarks, and Emma Roberts’ name was one that popped up a lot (especially since Angelica tweeted a gif of Julia Roberts, Emma’s aunt, after posting about a transphobic co-star). Angelica then revealed on an Instagram livestream last night/this morning that it was in fact Emma who made the transphobic remarks. Here’s what Angelica stated what Emma said:
… And John [the director] is like ‘okay ladies, that’s enough. Let’s get back to work.’ And she then looks at me and she goes ‘don’t you mean lady?’
This is very clearly a transphobic comment, especially from Emma’s reaction/what she does afterwards (Angelica said that she covered her face and turned away).
It was pointed out on twitter from a clip of Angelica, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern and Gus Kenworthy reacting to the premiere of AHS 1984 that there had been transphobic behaviour on set.
Angelica: we are watching for all the transphobia on set.
Billie: always
Angelica: me and Billie are like ‘that’s transphobia’!
Angelica and Billie: we will come for you (in the nicest way)
So from just this clip it is said/suggested that there had been transphobic behaviour on set. There’s also one person notably absent here: Emma. They claimed they were watching the premiere together ‘as a family’ but admittedly the highest billed star is absent. Either Cody or Gus go “where’s Emma?” And laugh afterwards at one point, too.
This leads on to another thing Angelica touched up on in her livestream: Emma’s behaviour and relationship to the rest of the cast and crew. One thing Angelica said was that the first thing she saw Emma do was yell at the director, supposedly trying to make him cry. Angelica follows that by saying Emma always had to make sure that she was ‘number one on the call sheet’ and that she was the one in charge, including making sure her trailer was where she wanted it. This is already toxic behaviour. Moving on from that, Angelica starts talking about Emma’s relationship with the cast. It sounds like from what was said on the livestream that people weren’t very fond of Emma on set. She said she was playing ‘psychological games’ with them and that people supposedly wanted to fight her because of her behaviour. Doesn’t look very good on you if your co-stars aren’t fond of your presence, does it?
Angelica tells a story about how Emma asked them all how much they were earning that season. No one really answered her so she ended the conversation with “as long as you’re not earning over $100,000 per episode” and walked off. So from this and the earlier comment about her wanting to be top billed it’s clear that Emma wanted to be the most important person there and would not have been happy if someone was earning more money than her. Entitlement and selfishness. Even though she has always come from a famous and wealthy family she still seems to need to make sure she earns the most money and is the most famous and popular. But she’s also boasting. $100,000 is a lot of money to earn per episode and chances are her other co-stars (who may have needed that money more than Emma) are not earning that much. She’s boasting and wants people to know how much she’s making from the show. There’s no need but she’s doing it anyway.
Phew. That’s the stuff about the 1984 drama from Angelica’s livestream. But there’s one more thing from that livestream that I want to touch up on. Something that disturbed me. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be a clip of this but Ive heard multiple people (including the person who originally posted the videos) say that Angelica revealed that Emma would laugh and make jokes about getting arrested for hurting her then boyfriend, Evan Peters.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Emma would joke about her domestic abuse arrest.
This is disgusting behaviour, and apparently her own mother questioned why she was bringing it up and joking about it. Domestic abuse is not a joke and making light of the time when you were arrested for hurting your partner is not a right.
So yeah, if you weren’t aware in 2013 Emma was arrested for domestic violence against Evan after their neighbours in a hotel called the police after hearing loud arguing. Evan was found with a bloody nose and a bite mark and Emma was arrested. Evan didn’t press charges and Emma was released a few hours later.
After the news came out Emma’s PR team (‘sources close to Emma’ TMZ calls them) said that they were both hitting each other and that the only reason Emma was arrested was because she had no visible injuries. They also declined that Evan had a bite mark, which was something that had actually prior been confirmed by the police in a statement. This might just be speculation but doesn’t this sound a little like damage control? Denying injuries that the police stated Evan had and claiming they were both hitting each other sounds like a way of trying to push the blame off Emma as much as they could. Just saying 🤷‍♀️
(There’s a tweet of the infamous Evan hugging Emma whilst she’s crying photos which has zoomed in and highlighted what could be other injuries/bruises on Evan. It’s interesting to look at).
Yes, there’s the bruises on Emma’s legs and according to a lot of Emma fans that’s enough proof that Evan was supposedly the instigator and Emma was the victim. I’m not saying that the bruises on her knees are not from the altercation, just that it’s a lot easier to bruise your knees in everyday life than it is to get a bloody nose and bite mark and that this is not the conclusive evidence that Evan was the instigator that a lot of fans make it out to be.
This part is more a complaint about Emma’s fans as opposed to Emma herself but it’s still about her domestic violence arrest so it’s fitting to include it. There’s a lot of lies/misinformation that gets spread around about the DV situation. People on twitter claim that they’ve seen the police report and that it said Emma was defending herself. This is false. No police report has ever been accessed. People say that Evan started it. This is false. There is no evidence that Evan started the physical altercation but since he was the one found bloody it points more in the direction of Emma being the instigator. People say that they were both abusive. Mutual abuse is not a thing. But by saying that they were hitting/abusing each other then you’re still claiming that Emma abused Evan, so where’s her ‘cancellation’? People say that Evan can’t be a victim of domestic violence because he’s a man and taller/bigger than Emma. This is false. Extremely false. Men can be victims of domestic violence too, even at the hands of women. Just because Evan is taller and has a bigger build than Emma does not mean that she can’t physically hurt him. She clearly has. Men can be hurt by women. Don’t minimise their experiences.
I wish I could say that the 2013 arrest was the only physical/abusive story in relation to Emma but unfortunately there is (potentially) more. Blind items are essentially pieces of information that are submitted to gossip sites whilst keeping the identities of the celebrities they’re about anonymous (but it’s usually kind of obvious to guess who they’re about). There have been many blind items about Emma and Evan’s relationship and sadly some are violent. One states that she threw a glass at his head (you can see his maybe shaved head here) and another says that he woke up to her pacing the bedroom with a knife. There’s others about the two of them where they’re not violent but still show Evan being mistreated in their relationship and there’s also a fair few about her sleeping with James Franco whilst in a relationship with Evan. You can find a list of all Emma blind items here. Yeah, blind items should be taken with a pinch of salt but the large amount of blind items about Emma and her treatment towards Evan is concerning and kind of speaks for itself.
So, we’ve covered that Emma was transphobic to her transgender cast member, rude to the rest of her cast and abusive towards her ex boyfriend. What else?
There’s how she treats regular members of the public. There’s horror stories all over the internet of people’s interactions with Emma. Baristas and hospitality workers have some of the worst stories, about how she’s rude and aggressive, hates waiting and will even get angry if they don’t recognise her. Fans have had negative experiences where they met Evan and Emma together and whilst Evan would talk to them and take photos she would just stand their annoyed. People who have worked on sets with her have said that she’s a nightmare to work with. This tweet shows a compilation of just some of the tweets and comments about people’s experiences meeting Emma.
Well, that’s all the dirty laundry on Emma Roberts. Now, what’s the point in this post? What does the title mean?
Well, Angelica Ross tweeted that Emma apologised for her transphobic comments.
Thank you @ RobertsEmma for calling and apologizing, recognizing your behavior was not that of an ally. I will leave the line open to follow up on your desire to do better and support social justice causes with your platform.
And a large portion of the internet has gone from holding Emma accountable for her actions and acknowledging that she’s not a good person to suddenly worshipping her again and acting like she’s god’s gift. I’m so happy that Angelica has been able to get this sort of closure and an apology, I really am, but I just thought that her leaking that Emma was transphobic towards her would open people’s eyes to the type of person Emma is. She’s got a history of being a bad person, and people were finally opening their eyes to that. Unfortunately, they’re starting to blind themselves again and are going back to thinking she’s great.
Emma has never been held accountable for any of her negative behaviour. No one has ever held her accountable for the abuse with Evan, no one has ever held her accountable for how awful she would be to cast and crew. Angelica calling her out for being transphobic was finally a step in the direction for Emma being held accountable for her past actions which have had detrimental effects on other people, but they’re not.
Whenever you bring up Emma getting arrested people rebuttal it with ‘they were hitting each other’ or ‘Evan started it’ or ‘it was years ago, let it go’ or ‘she’s a mother now, she’s changed’. People always come to her defensive and either shift the blame onto Evan, just say ‘she’s changed’ or outright deny it. These people are protecting not a good person by doing this and their denial that Emma isn’t problematic leads to the issue of her not being held accountable.
If you bring up people’s anecdotes about negative experiences meeting Emma they instantly call them fake. Apparently everyone who says they met Emma and had a bad experience is a liar. No one’s allowed to have a bad experience with her otherwise you’re just trying to defame her.
This is a woman who was abusive towards her partner. This is a woman who was transphobic. This is a woman who treats people ‘beneath her’ like shit. And no one has ever held her accountable for any of this. Instead she’s almost protected by the internet, with people coming to defend her of you say even the slightest negative thing. This is not good. This is not healthy.
Why should Emma get a free pass? Why shouldn’t she be held accountable for her actions? Why should she be able to get away with everything she does? Answer: she shouldn’t. But she does. Because she’s an icon ✨ she’s mother ✨ she’s the moment ✨
She’s not.
Emma Roberts treats people awfully, but the internet chooses to neglect that. Emma Roberts is rude to her co-stars and crew, but the internet chooses to neglect that. Emma Roberts was abusive towards her boyfriend, but the internet chooses to neglect that. Emma Roberts is a bad person, but the internet chooses to neglect that.

Like Crazy (2023) as a discussion of (queer) loneliness
hiiii anyways i keep saying Like Crazy is incredibly bisexual/queer and its been hard to explain why without writing an essay so. without further ado:
*DISCLAIMER* I am not claiming I know anything about how Jimin identifies or the intended message of the album, nor am I claiming my interpretation as above any other. This is just my reading of FACE and Like Crazy as a gay person of colour and a grad student writing a thesis on transness where I discuss topics of loneliness as a systemic form of violence and intimacy. I am also looking at this from a very Western perspective; though I know there are likely many Korean and likely queer Korean authors, theorists, and poets evoking similar ideas, I’ll be making reference to authors that I am familiar with who are better known in a Western context.
Loneliness as a cycle of abjection
“I want to introduce Jimin’s true feelings that I didn’t bring up anywhere else. I looked back on myself and honestly expressed my […] emptiness and loneliness.”
I don’t think it would take a particularly high level of analysis to conclude that FACE, and Like Crazy more specifically, are meant to explore loneliness as a process of self-alienation. Non-binary author Olivia Laing describes the cycle of loneliness as one where:
“[…] the lonelier a person gets, the less adept they become at navigating social currents. Loneliness grows around them, like mould or fur, a prophylactic that inhibits contact, no matter how badly contact is desired. Loneliness is accretive, extending and perpetuating itself.”
Tumblr media
It’s very clear from the beginning of the music video for Like Crazy that Jimin struggles with reconciling a comfort in loneliness with a need to experience intimacy. Regardless of his efforts, the rot of loneliness is never far, seeps in through the walls and stains his hands. As (ironically) relatable of an experience as loneliness is, it does not occur in a vacuum. Rather, the unique experience of queer loneliness and rejection is one riddled by othering from acceptable sexuality and gender experiences and an inability to be framed within normative categories. Robert Phillips, scholar in language analysis as it pertains to gay male sexuality, wrote on abjection through a trans studies framework. To him, the process of horror or unease that defines abjection, through which the “other” is separated from and by an “us,” goes beyond “casting out” and becomes more interactive process; the hegemonic is protected by rejecting whatever does not conform, that is ambiguous, that does not fit in box. “The anxiety at the root of this unease with transgender subjectivity can be traced back, in part, to a fear of the ambiguous.” Loneliness, like queerness, acts as a sort of mark of Cain, a characteristic that becomes so impeded in our being that it if first noticeable and then rejectable.
Tumblr media
Despite being marked by loneliness, Jimin is the center of attention for the first act of the music video, featuring him crowd surfing and posing delicately for pictures. Yet, despite his yearning, he makes no move for intimacy. The music video implies the possibility that it is the result of this very hypervisibility as a figure of softness and boyishness, inviting parallels to be made here with the foucauldian references and the power play between surveillance and identity in other areas of the album, namely Set Me Free Pt. 2 (a discussion for another post for another time…..).
Hedonism as an escape
“[Like Crazy] expresses the emotions of the moment when you run away from reality to forget your wounds.”
The overlap between loneliness and overt sexuality is why eroticism is so culturally important to queer communities. Like Crazy explores desire and intimacy through what can be called a queer lens, as an escape and as an unsuccessful means to being perceived and acknowledged outside of suffering. The whole poem is absolutely beautiful, but a specific excerpt of gay Asian-American poet Ocean Vuong’s On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous comes to mind: “Don’t we touch each other just to prove we are still here? I was still here once.” As Like Crazy, Vuong’s poem discusses intimacy as the antithesis to loneliness. To be intimate is to come out of ones self.  The erotic becomes an avenue to salvation (I will permit myself a little shoutout to Christian mythos by drawing parallel to the Song of Songs - we all dream of kissing God, of laying with the presence of something larger than us, and finding deliverance from it!).
Tumblr media
Like Crazy communicates a power struggle between desperation for intimacy and an addiction to loneliness. What Jimin says about it and the juxtaposition with the actual visuals of the music video paints the picture of an attempt to build closeness on the foundations of perpetual solitude. In Like Crazy, closeness is futile. Loneliness becomes a lifelong lover, and intimacy an occasional affair. Though still better than perpetual solitude, it is marked by disillusion: “I’d rather be lost in the light.” Rather than evoke the image of a passionate one-night-stand, it acknowledges of the persistence of loneliness. queer latino write John Paul Brammer evokes this feeling:
“Loneliness, I find, continues too. Our relationship with solitude is one of the most important ones we have in this life. No matter how full and vibrant and loud we make things, the quiet always finds us.”
Despite Jimin’s desires for closeness, we don’t actually see him making any move for closeness. Rather, despite his best efforts, he walks against the course of those around him in a repeated shot before knocking the camera’s lens away; again, a parallel to the surveillance of set me free, as well as a possible denial of him pace against the grain.
Tumblr media
Queer desires and longing
“Let me have a taste / Give me a good ride.”
For non-queer people, what is difficult to understand in the particularities of queer loneliness is its entwining with desire. It’s an unspeakable yearning - as much in the ways it is indescribable as it is often life-threatening to do so. It is a profound sense of non-belonging felt in the knowledge that you are not as others are or see you because of a fundamental issue with how - and for whom - you experience desire. As a result, the erotic and sexuality along the margins of what is normative, i.e. reproductive cisgender heterosexual missionary sex after marriage, are profoundly radical and embodied manifestations of queer desire: kink, bondage, leather, sadomasochism, casual sex, chemsex, etc. all contribute to this expression of queer intimacy and self actualization.
Tumblr media
I know I’m being a little dramatic in the set-up here but it is really difficult to try to explain this inherent outcasthood to straight people. It is such a specific experience that is so untranslatable, and yet it is a feeling that I pick up so strongly in the Like Crazy music video. The remedying of sexuality with the profound alienation that queer people feel up until, very often, a dramatic and self-destructive discovery in young-adulthood, is something that straight/cis people just can’t understand. Leading African queer scholar and (erotic) writer Keguro Macharia writes:
“what is the taste of loneliness? / salt-bitter-sweet-nothing / after midnight, in cars, in booths in sex shops, in dark bedrooms, in anonymous hotel rooms, encounter after encounter, trading orgasms for ‘hold me’ and ‘let’s cuddle’ ‘if I suck you off, will you cuddle with me’ ‘if I let you fuck me, will you cuddle with me’.”
I’m not knowledgeable on kink culture so I won’t get too into it but I think it’s really interesting how submissive the lyrics come off. What is striking about the way Like Crazy approaches desire that sets it apart from any generic “we found love in this club”-type pop song is its desperate tone rather than one that boasts virility with promises of a “good time.” Instead, Jimin is the one pleading.
Queer loneliness as liberation
“She’s saying, ‘Baby, don’t think about it / There’s not a bad thing here tonight.”
Like Vuong’s poem, Like Crazy could also become a larger question on a heterosexual culture that is increasingly anxious about bodies and touch. The music video can be clocked as having the intention to discuss the erotic - the Robert Mapplethorpe reference is enough to assert this - yet it does so very tamely. Everyone is clothed, no one touches too much, the atmosphere is fun, chill, controlled. Jimin, despite his expressed desperation for closeness and hedonism as told through the lyrics and through his interaction with those at the party, through the careless throwing back of shots, does not find what he needs. The environment is too controlled, too “straight” (as in “proper,” or “innocuous”). He himself does not find any intimacy. He stays at the center of it all, untouched, and not daring to get closer.
Tumblr media
Something that is reflected by a lot of trans theory writers (some whom I’ve read including Paisley Currah and Dean Spade) is that the normalization process in inclusion produces and reproduces ideas on who is and “insider” and who is an “outsider.” I read a bit of Melissa Caroll’s thesis on the political implications of queer loneliness as part of my own (much shorter) thesis. In it she discusses how “straight” culture, through the aforementioned social accounting processes, delimit the realm of the socially accessible, in a process Denise Riley calls loneliness. Caroll says:
“Currently, any public declaration that “I am lonely” presumes that we are registering this feeling based on what we have been led to believe that loneliness, as a term, means: sad, alone, lacking, in need or want of friends, odd, bizarre, queer, and unhappy.”
Tumblr media
Heteronormative abjection of queer and trans modes of being are increasingly reclaimed as constructive and disruptive political strategies. As postmodernist feminist scholar Julia Kristeva writes, abjection is “the place where meaning collapses.” Rejection of inclusion to instead embody abjection and loneliness is another cornerstone of queer self-affirmation that is explored, again, through the erotic and the sexually obscene. The tame nature of the music video, Jimin’s desperation, implies a dissociation from himself and a refusal to face himself. There is an acknowledgement of the futility of his desires for closeness beyond what he is “marked” for, that it will “break” him yet he refuses to be “saved.”
Tumblr media
So, regardless of whether Like Crazy truly is an attempt to explore the unique nuances of queer loneliness, it is clear that what it does discuss is struggle against self. The music video depicts not romantic rejection or conflict, but rather an imposed alienation. A self-rejection from an objected self and from a normative way of life. The stained, leather clad hand presumably belonging to Jimin himself dragging him to the party, the knocking away of the camera as a refusal to accept a self or to showcase that “wound,” the interplay between the warm shots of androgyny and desire contrasted with the cool setting of the club. The premise of the music video and its use of a movie itself is a refraction of this longing and abjection in a way; what does it say to attempt to translate a profound feeling of disorientation and loneliness within a normative context through the reference of a romance film featuring a White, conventionally attractive, heterosexual, cisgender, normative couple as a man of colour often read as gender non-conforming?
TLDR: Whether Like Crazy or FACE globally means to discuss queer loneliness and desire, the way they are ultimately explored and the play on gender and belonging imply a framework that is, intentionally or not, queer.

19 with sonadow for the fic prompt meme? You write them so well I couldn't not ask for them too :3
(YIPPEE Sonadow my beloved!! I love how these are like. Soft prompts. And I still don't make these scenes very romantic KFHSKLFHLKS)
19. ‘it made me think of you.’
“Hedgehog,” a deep, monotone voice called Sonic.
It was early autumn, and Sonic was relaxing in the shade of a tree, his back against its trunk. He opened one eye and glanced towards Shadow standing right in front of him. His hands were behind his back, which was unusual for him – Usually he kept his palms visible, either on top of his chest with his arms crossed or clenched tightly against his sides. This unusual pose made him look almost shy or nervous, if it wasn’t for the intense stare and serious face. Regardless, Sonic found it a little adorable.
“What’s up, Shadow?” he asked.
“I found this,” Shadow replied and moved his arms, showing off a knitted scarf.
It was a long scarf with white fringes, consisting of white, light blue and pink stripes. It was clearly meant for humans considering how long and wide it was – but for a tiny hedgehog it would be just as cozy.
“Found it? Like a lost item on the ground, or bought from a store?” Sonic chuckled with a shrug.
The scarf looked brand new, but he still found it hard to believe that Shadow would buy such a scarf. The colors didn’t look like something he would wear, although they would look nice against his dark fur. Maybe it was for Rouge? She was known to wear pink and white, after all.
“The latter,” Shadow said and placed the scarf into Sonic’s hand, “It made me think of you.”
Sonic looked at the scarf for a moment, then glanced at Shadow with a raised brow. Shadow’s face didn’t change, so Sonic wrapped the scarf around his neck once around, letting it hang loosely. It was a nice scarf; it was warm, and the wool didn’t feel too itchy. But he was still a little confused why Shadow would get him one.
Sonic grinned and gave Shadow a thumbs up, “Thanks! Why so, though?”
“It has similar colored stripes as that button on your hoodie,” Shadow said and pointed at said button.
It was a round pin button consisting of five stripes: the top and bottom stripes light blue, the middle one white, and the two in the middle of them pink. While Sonic didn’t wear clothes that often, his trusty red and white hoodie came in handy whenever the weather got cooler. And since it was his favorite hoodie, he displayed his pin button on its chest proudly.
“I’ve seen those colors in that order in many places. Is it a symbol of sorts?” Shadow asked.
Sonic nodded: “Oh yeah, it’s a flag.”
“Which country?” Shadow asked.
“No no, it’s a pride flag. The transgender one to be exact,” Sonic explained, trying to hold back his laughter.
Shadow tilted his head – that was a new term for him. “Transgender?”
“It basically means that your gender differs from the one you were assigned at birth,” Sonic explained with a smile.
He didn’t talk about his past often, but Shadow was someone he could trust. His brooding rival had shown his vulnerable side to him many times, demanding that Sonic should never let anyone know about it. So, he could trust Shadow to do the same with his personal life. Even though him being trans wasn’t really a secret, per se.
“For example, I am a guy, but I wasn’t always one. Or, technically I was, like deep down. I kinda knew it from a young age, but it took me a while to realize it,” Sonic added, lifting his gaze towards the sky. He gazed at the horizon with a contented smile. “And I couldn’t be happier with who I am today.”
“I see. So, you don’t let the circumstances of your birth determine who you are, but forge your own identity instead?” Shadow asked.
Sonic let out a lighthearted snort. Shadow was so dramatic, but in a very endearing way – it was clear his words were genuine.
“Yeah, you could put it that way,” Sonic grinned.
“I can respect that,” Shadow nodded and crossed his arms, “But it won’t stop me from beating you in the battlefield.”
“Sure thing, buddy. But come sit with me for a moment,” Sonic said and patted the empty spot right next to him. “Five minutes of rest, and then we can fight.”
Shadow huffed and sat down, closing his eyes and leaning his shoulder against Sonic’s. Sonic turned his face towards him, giving him a fond look. He really liked being around his rival during gentle moments like these. Even when he came to him looking for a battle, he was still thoughtful – Sonic would have lots of use for that scarf now that the weather was getting colder every day.
“Tch. You need five minutes to prepare for your loss?” Shadow mumbled.
“Hah, I’m so gonna kick your ass in a moment, Shadster.”

Another example of something that never happens.....
By Anna Slatz December 22, 2023
CONTENT NOTICE: This article contains explicit references to child sexual abuse, as documented by the Federal Bureau of Investigations during a predator sting. Reader discretion is appreciated.
A transgender pedophile in Vermont has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison after being caught in a law enforcement sting targeting predators. Scarlet Moon Shadows, also known as Dragongurl69, pleaded guilty to attempting to entice a minor into sexual activity.
As previously reported by Reduxx, Shadows, born Randy Emillion Goodreau, first appeared in federal court last year after being arrested in Albany, New York while trying to meet who he believed to be an 11-year-old girl for sexual abuse.
The incident began after Shadows messaged a social networking account established by the FBI seeking to attract predators. The profile was made to look as though it belonged to a woman in custody of an 11-year-old girl, and included a number of pedophilic “dog whistles” in the biography section. Shadows messaged the account, and, after a brief exchange in which he expressed interest in “teaching” the child sexual acts, the two moved their communications to an encrypted messenger.
Tumblr media
Shadows then asked to speak to the child directly, and began messaging with a second undercover agent posing as the girl.
According to an affidavit submitted by Special Agent Jenelle Bringuel, Shadows quickly offered to “date” the girl and introduce her to sexual acts. He also sent the girl several photos of his “breasts,” and plotted how to keep their relationship a secret from the public.
“We can be a real couple when we are home, but in public [kisses] have to be on the cheek. Can probably still hold hands though,” Shadows said, using text-lingo to convey his point to the minor. He continued: “We can kiss on the lips, like at home or in car rides depending how busy traffic is … at home [we] can do whatever you want. We can make love if you want to.”
Tumblr media
Approximately one month after beginning to communicate with the undercover agents, Shadows travelled from Vermont to Warren County, New York with the intention of having sex with the child. Shadows was arrested after arriving at a meet-up point, and was found to have had an engagement ring, condoms, and gifts for the child on his person. During questioning, he claimed the sexual texts were nothing more than “roleplaying.”
A psychosexual assessment of Shadows revealed that he was subjected to a viewing test which indicated his interests in juvenile females, adolescent boys, and very young girls. The assessment also revealed that he had a “high interest” in infant females.
Tumblr media
A press release put out by the Department of Justice detailing the case referred to Shadows using she / her pronouns and gave no indication that he is male or that he identifies as transgender. According to the DOJ, the investigation was conducted by the FBI and its Child Exploitation Task Force, which includes members of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, including the Colonie Police Department and the New York State Police.
In April, Shadows pleaded guilty to Attempted Enticement and Coercion of a Minor. Shadows has been in FBI custody since, with a number of delays occurring during the hearing process. In October, his public defense attorney abruptly dropped his case, citing “conflict of interest,” and the case was put on hold until a new defense attorney could pick up the sentencing negotiations.
On December 20, Shadows was sentenced to 11 years, one year more than the mandatory minimum of 10 years the defense had been seeking.
Tumblr media
Shadows was active on Facebook prior to his arrest, and made multiple posts utilizing the trans pride flag and calls to “cherish trans women.” He also uploaded his own poorly-drawn artwork to his account, some of which featured disturbing themes.
In one pen-work picture, Shadows shows what appears to be an older man with a much-smaller girl.
“We will never brake, not even from our darkest sin. The devil is no longer in charge. We are the new rulers of hell,” the picture reads.
Tumblr media
Two posts seen on Shadows’ Facebook account.
While it is currently unknown where Shadows will be incarcerated, he will be under the jurisdiction of the federal Bureau of Prisons, which currently has a gender self-identification policy in place for housing transgender inmates.
On January 13 of 2022, the Bureau of Prisons revised its Transgender Offender Manual, which included guidelines previously scrubbed by the Trump administration with respect to gender self-identification for federal inmates. Under the Trump administration, inmates were housed based on biological sex as a sole consideration, but the Biden administration renewed Obama-era guidelines requiring gender identity be considered when making housing assignments.
There are currently 1,500 federal inmates who identify as transgender. According to Keep Prisons Single Sex USA, almost 50% of trans-identified male federal inmates are in custody for sex offences. This is compared to just 11% of the non-trans male federal inmate population.

Actual Syscourse 101: Yes, anti-endos are exclusionists.
There was recently a syscourse account that popped up calling itself @syscourse101, claiming to be educational and anti-misinformation, aimed at "teaching" new systems and singlets who might be confused by syscourse.
So let's just take a look into that!
Tumblr media
Before we start, a quick nitpick on definitions. The first definition was an adjective. If you're talking about people, you want to use the second definition which is the noun:
"a person favoring the exclusion of someone or something from a place, group, or privilege."
This isn't too relevant but this is the definition I'm going to be referring to going forward.
Now, you might have noticed a little word trick Syscourse101 uses to immediately frame the debate, referring to anti-endos keeping people out of "their" spaces. This itself is deceptive, as it suggests ownership over the communities and resources they gatekeep.
In reality, places where endogenic and pro-endogenic systems find themselves excluded from are often not explicitly dedicated to being anti-endo, but are general system spaces.
I also will point out that there is nothing wrong with selective inclusion. If a place markets itself as being for DID and OSDD systems, specifically, then it's reasonable to disallow systems without those disorders. But even at that, disordered systems will often find themselves subject to exclusion based on personal identities or syscourse stances. For example, many diagnosed DID systems who identify as mixed origins or similar genic labels find themselves excluded from DID communities despite being part of the group those communities are for.
Tumblr media
Despite what the last sentence implies, endogenic systems, like all plural systems, ARE minority groups.
Plurality, systemhood, and voice hearing are some of the most stigmatized mental conditions in Western society, regardless of whether you have a mental disorder that causes that.
To the question they pose at the end, online exclusionism is still real exclusionism just like cyber bullying is real bullying. Much of our lives in the modern world are digitized.
And as was established in the first paragraph of the above image, there is a shortage of physical system meetups. Which isn't very surprising when you consider the discrimination most systems face (as heavily stigmatized neurodivergent minority groups) when they come out. For a majority of systems, the internet provides our only outlet to connect with other systems without endangering our relationships or livelihoods.
So yes, attempting to push us out of our only safe spaces is extremely harmful.
Tumblr media
Excluding hate groups and exclusionists is not the same as excluding people for existing. "TERFs DNI" is not the same as "transgenders DNI." "Homophobes DNI" is not the same as "homosexuals DNI." "Nazis DNI" is not the same as "Jews DNI." "Sanists DNI" is not the same as "systems DNI." "Fatphobics DNI" is not the same as "fat people DNI."
I could go on forever...
Tumblr media
Anti endos usually fall into two categories. One that believes in endogenic plurality but tries to gatekeep system terms, and another larger group that falsely claims endogenic plurality as a whole is scientifically impossible.
(Do remember that an exclusionist does not need to be successful in their exclusionism either. They merely need to favor exclusion. Or for the adjective's definition, they need to "act to" do this.)
Group 1, What I will call Term Exclusionists, attacks the privilege of us being able to define our own experiences. Despite words like "system" being broad and applied in numerous circumstances, they claim exclusive ownership over it. They do the same with words like "intoject," "switch," "multiple," "inner world," etc.
Some Term Exclusionists even gatekeep terms made and/or popularized by the endogenic and non-disordered community. I've seen a few say we shouldn't be allowed to use the words "plural," "headmate," "fictive," or "factive." All terms that non-disordered systems coined or popularized.
This is far from the most dangerous exclusionism but it is a form of exclusionism.
Group 2, the Plurality Exclusionists, make up the majority of anti-endos and are far more harmful.
Plurality Exclusionists spread disinformation and lies dedicated to making people disbelieve in the existence of all endogenic plurals. Plurality Exclusionists attempt to exclude us from being able to be considered to experience any form of plurality or multiplicity.
As a headmate who wasn't the original in this body, the "privilege" that Plurality Exclusionists try to rip away from me every day is my very right to be perceived and treated as a person.
Every single disinformation post or TikTok claiming endogenic plurality isn't real and fakeclaiming endogenic systems perpetuates discrimination we face. If a singlet watches an anti-endo video claiming endogenic systems can't exist, and that singlet ends up fakeclaiming the headmates of a friend who came out to them, that's a direct result of the efforts of the Plurality Exclusionist rhetoric.
And if any medical professionals hear Plurality Exclusionist rhetoric and disbelieve the experiences of endogenic systems because of that influence, then the Plurality Exclusionists caused that as well.
The goal of the Plurality Exclusionist is to create a world where nobody believes the experiences of endogenic systems. Where only they can be seen as "real plurals."
Tumblr media
In the end, there is absolutely no reason anyone should put stock into an anti-endo propaganda blog that's to dress itself up as education for Halloween.

Before starting some christmas doodles and/or dtiys brainstorm thumbnails i wanted to do a thought experiment and draw down every new tattoo idea I have as if money, time and pain tolerance wasnt an issue 😆 so here is what I would look like if all my ideas got made :3
1) words under right collarbone reading: "write your own story" - at the end there is a peacock feather pen still in the midst of writing the "y". Reminder to myself that this life I am living is my own and I get to decide what story I want it to be.
2) Harpy in a dynamic pose with wings stretched out and top surgery scars. The motive may change since the idea mostly is to cover up a feature i have started to become insecure about (my thigh) and make it into something I can be proud of (an artwork)
3) If I am lucky enough to meet either Jere or Bojan I will ask them to write "Are You" on something that I then want tattooed on me. This is probably the least meaningful i just love them so much i want a part of them on my skin as the parasocial delulu fan I am xD
4) a logo i have made for my own artist persona/singer songwriter persona. Placement may change. Represents my passion with singing and songwriting.
5) Flapjack from the Owl House with a brush in his mouth. Tribute tattoo to my grandmother who passed away last year. This tattoo i do have (made by Christine at Cray Cray Ink in Copenhagen on March 23 2023).
6) Eevee sitting down tilting his head where he wears a tiara with the transgender symbol on it. Eevee was my favourite pokemon and to this day i love the symbolism of the eeveelutions for the trans readings of the whole thing. The tiara just makes it more obvious plus its cute.
7) Bulbasaur with a studded collar. Ngl this one is here because I love Jere and that he fits with Eevee and Flapjack.
8) an ouroboros snake all the way across my arm making an infinity symbol. The infinity symbol is a nod to the autistic symbol while the snake is mostly here to nod to norse mythology. Probably one the tattoos that are mostly here for aesthetic reasons and that I am most likely to drop.
9) a flagpole with a t-shirt reading Ihan Sama on it. A reference to both the coverart and the lyrical content of käärijä's song Paidaton Riehuja (he has put the shirt on a flag pole when taking it off and screams ihan sama aka whatever at his insecurities about his looks at the beginning of the song). Feel connected to the song on both a gendered way and as inspiration to love myself and my body. Still figuring out if it would be most fun to have on my left arm (easier to see) or down my side (right where I have the second most body insecurity therefore being a reminder to love that part of myself)
10) the three birds concept - i mentioned it in another post so I wont go into detail here - will be running along with my left collarbone so the peacock tail is resting on the shoulder
11) my newest idea for a post-op chest tattoo is one of these adorable fox doodles created by Frederikke at Shay Ink in Odense - the fox will be wearing the bolero pointing metalforks into the air. Under it will be written this lyric from CCC: Enkää pelkääkään tätä maailmaa.
12) an ansuz rune on my left lower arm. Represents tons of things from my heritance (dane aka viking), interest in norse mythology, humanity, creativity, interest in language (last three is all meanings the rune has in itself), my autism, asexuality and aromaticism (since ansuz is also an old version of the letter 'a') together with being a nod to the käärijä concert I watched two days prior (the font being related to the käärijä font). This tattoo is one I already have and was made by Caroline at the psycadelic unicorn in Berlin.
Thank you for listening to my venting and I hope you can excuse the bad quality picture :'D

Trans Rights are Human Rights, or why I struggle to boo CM Punk
Tumblr media
Ok the title is sort of a lie. I certainly didn't struggle booing him on Sunday live in Wembley. But in all fairness he was facing Samoa Joe who is one of those wrestler that I just care about always have for damn longer time than I have liked Punk. I, like most of the British crowd, was chanting my lungs out for Joe and yes might've booed Punker but my attitude slightly changed during the post of of this amazing if slightly predictable match. After the match, as pictured, CM Punk posed with a fan holding a sign that said "Oi Rishi! TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS" this is the latest in a string of support Phil has made towards the trans community including but not limited to a cool charity t shirt that I own but do not have in my possession.
I was at All In with a friend and when that happened he turned to me and said "THAT'S US!" as we both screamed and cheered CM Punk. I supported CM Punk in this moment even though he has given me so many reasons to think he is a twat. I cheered him because if I'm honest being a trans wrestling fan is hard.
These events are pretty recent and are still upsetting to me so I will try to make this section brief. Unfortunately I couldn't find a date for this particular event since none of the articles mentioned one so, at Wrestlecon Giselle Shaw, a trans woman currently wrestling in IMPACT was accosted by wrestling legend Rick Steiner. Brother to Scott Steiner and father to Bron Breakker. Steiner hurled lots of insults towards Shaw including slurs. I’m not going to read it out but Shaw’s tweets I will link below so you can hear the story from her. This is possibly the most extreme example I have of LGBT+ issues still being prevalent in wrestling today and the worst thing Rick Steiner has done since the Chucky segment. It makes me sadder than I can express that Giselle shaw can’t go to a convention without people being shitty.
There was a second after me and my friend had that exchange at All In where I thought "Am I okay saying that? It's London it's not like I'm in London that often. Is it safe to say I'm trans?". Obviously I am okay, I got safe and was not shanked up at any point but I was scared. And I think this fear is heightened by the fact that I have seen a wrestler, a wrestler I look up to, experience harassment due to their gender identity.
I felt safe at All In, it was incredible and I loved being a wrestling fan surrounded by wrestling fans. But there have been times where I have felt uncomfortable or unsafe in this fandom. I think that there are worse ones and that I feel generally more accepted in the wrestling fandom that I perhaps might expect but I shouldn't have to feel like this, ever.
So that's why I struggle to boo CM Punk, and why that moment was one of my favourite of the night, because CM Punk made me feel like I could be a part of the wrestling fandom. That I wasn't out of place. That I was accepted and I will forever be grateful for that.
In conclusion, on Sunday CM Punk has helped me and I hope that you can do one thing for me, just one. Go watch a match with a trans or non binary person in it. Please, it shouldn't take long. It could be Gisele Shaw, it could be Nyla Rose, Kidd Bandit, VENY, Max The Impaler, Jessica Love, Sheik Khan Abdi, Abadon, you could watch an old Kagetsu match if you want. I would love to see trans or non binary wrestlers get recognition and appreciation. So go off, watch that match. and if you do retweet this and say what match you watched and what you thought of it.
This has been Undisputed Queer-a.
Slay The System, certainly Shock The Cis-tem, sorry I'm a day late, I will see you next Monday (probably, hopefully, should be)

[transcript: Someone opens up a ren'py game. the menu is the default gui for ren'py. Up in the corner is the text "First try (December 12th 2023)" that disappears when the player opens up the game. The game opens up on a smaller sprite of Memento. He's a fat, transgender filipino man with curly brown hair. The dialouge of the game goes as follows: Memento, hands down: Go to the store. Memento: Hands down: ... Memento, holding hoisin sauce: Buy a bottle of hoisin sauce. Memento, turning around, still holding sauce: Go to the fridge- Memento, suprised and smiling: Oh no!! Cut to a dirty fridge, with a "For Sale" sign in red, all caps comic sans, filled to the brim with hoisin sauce Memento, offscreen: I already have a bottle of hoisin sauce!! The game returns the player to the menu. There's a cut to another video. It's a similar menu, with a slightly warmer grey. The timestamp in the corner now reads "Second try (April 5th 2024)" that disapears before the player opens the game. The game that plays is exactly the same in dialouge as the previous game transcribed. However, it has updated sprites and graphics, a red-tinted kitchen background, and generally looks more well done/dynamic. Additional, there's audio from the original meme the dialogue is referencing. The video ends, and cuts to a black screen that reads "Bonus: track i almost used but ultimately decided against it." In the background, a tune made in beepbox using the banjo preset plays. It's hard to describe, but it sounds rather whimsical. End transcription]
finally... first ever offical archivist devlog!! finally living up to my blog name!!
this is a comparison to a coding test i did back in 2023, when i wasn't that experienced with renpy and sprite making, and one i did recently.
the audio memento is saying is from thebnoth on tiktok, background audio extracted by me. tune used making beepbox.
full breakdown of process below the cut!!!
first: i laid down sketches. they don't have to be anything big or special, just ideas for poses and the like. take as long as you need to, just go until you have something you feel fits the vibe/you're satisfied with.
Tumblr media
[id: four sketches featuring memento. first is of him crossing his arms. second is of him holding out a hoisin sauce bottle with one hand, and having a hand on his hip with the other, head titled to the right of the screen. third is the same, but with the arm slightly down and looking to the right. third is him titling his head to the left of the screen and smiling/laughing to himself. the first sketch is labeled 2 while all the others are labeled one. end id]
it's also really good to label the sketches with numbers, depending on how many lip movement alts you're gonna do! for me, personally, it just helps clear up confusion later on.
then, i just do standard art stuff i do for sprites. lineart, coloring, converting them into transparents, all that jazz. there's nothing particualrly notable after this, except some funnies i posted before this post
that concludes this devlog update!! this is, again, my first devlog. i don't know how to do these things and i'm very much a beginner coder. thank you to tutorials on youtube, i love you tutorials on youtube.
have a swell day!!

As promised: why i’m freaking out about a 45 year old dad from New Jersey wearing a cheerleader outfit and why i’ve been waiting for him to do this since i was in the 8th grade.
Which is obviously more about me than it is about him/them, being as they’re someone I have never met or spoken to.
But sometime around 2005 or 2006 - and I’m not fact checking myself, so historians feel free to correct - I read something somewhere. I don’t know if it was a quote or a link, if it had been posted on GSB or INO? Like idek if it was before the admins realized they were going to need to make a whole new site. But I know I was about 13 years old and I learned that Gerard Way used to go to art school in full drag.
I was 13 years old and had no idea what was going on. Had never heard the words ‘pansexual’ or ‘nonbinary’. I thought something was wrong with me.
But as far as I was concerned, Gerard Way was the prettiest person I’d ever seen
(honestly it’s still true, and I really don’t mean it in a creepy way, nothing nsfw, just like ... statement of fact)
and I desperately wanted to see Gerard Way as a girl.
And I had been working so hard to come to terms with the fact that I thought I must be bisexual (and that still wasn’t right) and so scared all of the time. Because ‘05/’06 was a lot different than 2022.
And just a couple years before that I had dressed up as a hobo for Halloween. And I was a boy hobo. I’d drawn a beard onto my face with one of my mum’s eyebrow pencils. I posed for a picture as if I was a boy. They hold their bodies differently. And obviously I did a good job because my mum made a big deal about how I looked like a boy, as if it was a bad thing and had me pose again ‘normal’.
Sometimes people called me a tomboy.
I don’t think I’d even heard the word ‘transgender’ yet. But I knew about cross dressing. I knew I wasn’t a boy. I still wanted to look more like a boy. I was trying so hard to be a girl.
Still, I was 13 years old and had no idea what was going on, but I wanted to see Gerard Way in the best damn dress he owned. Because maybe it would make it okay. Whatever was wrong. Because at this point I’d already promised him(myself) that I was going to keep fighting. Be invincible.
I didn’t understand why, if they were fine dressing up for school why they couldn’t now(then). When I already thought they were the bravest person. Much more brave than I could ever be.
It never occurred to me to think about whether Gerard may or may not want to be a girl in any permanent sense. Maybe because I don’t want to be a boy. But I’m not a girl. And since I don’t actually know them, y’know ... projection.
Regardless, ‘Gerard Way needs to wear a dress on stage’ had been something branded into my brain since then.
And he finally did.
This year I came out to my mum as pansexual and nonbinary. This year I finally started dressing like myself again, started trying to look like how I really wanted to look (and feeling weirdly vain and conceited about it).
And fuck - we’re really doing it. I still think they’re the bravest person. So much more brave than I am. But damn I have to keep trying.
So there’s this singer in a rock band who’s 15 years older than me who I’ve not spoken to once in my whole life, but it really feels like we’ve been going on this journey together. And that’s weird, but whatever. I’ve never felt more validated by another human being in my whole life.

The worst kind of surprise.
One (of the many) difficult things about being transgender is never knowing if a person you know is really a supporter, ally or even if the have an issue with your gender identity.
Often times they tell you they are a supporter, other times they seem like a supporter. Often times you never really know because they don't say anything.
Usually though you find out in the worse way possable.
Actions and statements come out of the blue and reveal what they truly think.
These are frequently disclosed in a moment where they just talk without careful consideration.
When that happens to you it leaves a sinking, heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach and you then question thier integrity.
The dissapointment in your soul is real.
Which is a terrible feeling.
It's happened to me far to frequently and still hurts each time it does.
This latest time came from someone who I've worked with on a special project for the last few months.
The discussion came up over using a changing room to switch outfits during the job.
I was really shocked and left dumbfounded when this person asked me: "Which changing room do you use. The men's or the woman's?
Huh? What the f*** kind of question is that?
You know my story, you know my struggles and since I've only EVER presented as my authentic female self for over 6 years now that is a terribly insulting question.
I guess deep inside you do not respect my gender and probably never have. Because that question was not posed to anyone else (male or female) on the crew.
Only me.
It felt like a punch to the gut and has really taken away my enthusiasm and energy for the project.
It's changed something I was really truly looking forward to and made it so I am looking forward to it being over with.
Which sucks big time.

My headcanons for characters sexualities in my fav shows pt.1
“Naruto”
Or precisely speaking- akatsuki (and team Taka) doing pictures with flags and accesories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nagato/Pain and Hidan - heterosexual. These two just seem to be really good allies for their friends (and hidan is ultimate wingman, you can’t convince me otherwise). While Nagato wanted to pose to picture in his real body and with ally flag to be on the fore, Hidan wanted to not only came half naked but also with his own “super-ally” flag. The rest of the crew said that it looks like football scarf.
Konan - nonbinary. Like c’mon. Piercing, love for frogs, someone who probably listens to Mother Mother. Everything on it’s place, Kishimoto was way ahead of his time, he predicted the stereotypes.
Itachi - pansexual. He was so happy and wanted to smile so badly to this pic but Sasuke was rebelling in the background and Itachi had to reprimand him, and Konan clicked to fast so sadly he ended up looking unamused.
Kisame - homosexual. Haha gay shark. Jokes aside, idk why but this headcanon just vibes with me. Kisame made himself look like a champion or cesar, because he was very proud that he can be himself near his weird family.
Sasori - agender/demi-boy. Don’t tell me his backstory and embracement of feminity is not just huge queercoded mess about finding the best “I”. Sasori wanted to do “every picture no-smiling face” but, didn’t expected to be moved that much by this act of kindness and was blushing long after pictures were over.
Deidara - asexual. He is just wholesome ace bat and nobody can tell him something is missing in him- “people who speak those lies are horny weirdos and I am way above them” (those are his words).
Kakuzu - aromantic. He doesn’t need any cheap romance to feel whole and like home. Everyone wanted to make it quick, but Kakuzu was thinking way too long about what pose he should make and what to do with the flag. Eventually Konan got mad and made this picture.
Sasuke - queer. He doesn’t get this complicated feelings for now so he is comfortable to call himself under this umbrella term. What he is uncomfortable about is showing it to the whole world. He was made to stand there for a couple of seconds in this “ugly-ass sweater nobody should seen” (thanks Sasuke, you’re very kind) and got a pic whether he wanted it or no.
Karin - omnisexual. Love have no gender for her and she’ll stay in this mindset forever. She looks so pretty in this ribbon even if my antitalent destroyed propotions and overall good look.
Suigetsu - transgender/bisexual. He can adjust his body to many situasions so why not use this to finally feel in this body well? Also feeling sexual atraction to two genders raised even more questions in his mind, but as everything finally came to place he could be at peace.
Jugo - abrosexual. Yes abrosexuals are seen and are valid (and their flag looks like watermelon [yummy]). His sexual atraction is fluid and it’s alright, he is just happy he figured that out finally.
Hol up we forgot about someone
Tumblr media
Oh right! Tobi/Obito and Zetsu. No headcanons for them. Let’s just pretend they didn’t get an invitation for pictures and are bitter about it.

Harper Watters Pays Tribute to His Black Ballet Ancestors Harper Watters, the first queer Black First Soloist for the Houston Ballet and a TikTok starlet who is redefining ballet’s social media presence, pays homage to his dancer ancestors this Black History Month. Last year, he recreated iconic poses from transgender dancer Ashton Edwards, Matthew Rushing, "Godfather of Vogue'' Willi Ninja and Bill T. Jones. This February, he's teamed up with photographer Maxwell Poth to reimagine photographer Jack Mitchell's legendary shots of the Dance Theatre of Harlem from the '70s and '80s.Watters discovered Mitchell’s photographs as he explored the deep waters of the internet's annals of documented Black dancers, searching for inspiration for his annual BHM tribute series. “I want this to be a love letter and thank you note to the dancers in [Jack Mitchell’s photographs] because I stand on their shoulders,” Watters tells PAPER. Collaborating with photographer Maxwell Poth, the two recreated some of Mitchell’s most iconic works in a powerful portrait series.Below, witness the side-by-side recreations made by Poth and Watters as well as a PAPER behind-the-scenes chat with Watters about his self-reflective journey into the archives to honor Black dancers. How did you and Maxwell link up for this project?I messaged him and said: “PLEASE HELP MY VISION COME TO LIFE!" Without any hesitation, he was on board. I’m lucky to know Maxwell, beyond him being an incredible photographer, as a friend. One who I met many years ago, galavanting around WeHo. It’s always fun to be able to make art with creatives, but when they’re your friends it’s even more special. Why did you think Maxwell would be the right photographer for this? Maxwell has such an incredible eye and talent for capturing the body and capturing the body in movement. His work never feels one-dimensional. There is a calmness, attention to detail, and simplicity throughout his work that always makes for a strikingly beautiful finished project. He also is dedicated to highlighting queer people and their stories. So his artistic voice and commitment to working with marginalized subjects made him an obvious choice. What drew you to Jack Mitchell’s photos for this year's edition? I discovered the work of Jack Mitchell while researching for a previous series I did on IG Reels for Black History Month. The series involved me dancing into the images of black dancers who I work with or who inspired me along my journey. This year I wanted to challenge myself to dig deeper and discover more artists who I knew less about but deserved to have their flowers. This led me to Jack Mitchell and his series of photographs for the Dance Theater of Harlem. Like Maxwell, his work captured the physicality of the male dancers so beautifully. They were so regal and stoic, I was blown away by the poses Jack was able to capture. There is this indescribable feeling that happens in dance when you just feel compelled to move, whether it be the music, the choreography or your partner. I felt that with Jack's photographs and knew I wanted to recreate them and learn more about the dancers in the images. Did you face any challenges with this shoot, either in conception or in execution? I think the only challenge I faced was realizing how talented the Dance Theater of Harlem dancers were, because despite making the poses look so effortless, they were in fact super challenging. Maxwell was able to recreate the lighting so well, and I was impressed with how he could almost sculpt me into positions by correcting the angles of my limbs to replicate the images perfectly. My hope was to carry their energy through Maxwell's eyes and my body. What did you hope to highlight in recreating these photos? I want this to be a love letter and thank you note to the dancers in the original images because I stand on their shoulders, they paved the way for me to be able to dance the way I am today. I wanted to shed light on their careers and their accolades. I had a few dancers to look up to when I was starting out, but I truly lacked the visibility and knowledge of dancers like me, which forced me to believe I wasn’t meant to be a dancer. These dancers are my fuel to keep on dancing and pushing myself to be better. What is the through-line between your work and the Dance Theatre of Harlem dancers' work? Black dancers are beautiful. Black dancers are powerful. Black dancers matter.Photo by Maxwell Poth https://www.papermag.com/harper-waters-maxwell-poth-bhm-2659447847.html

PSA: MEN DO NOT HAVE A CERVIX. You’re welcome.” - Aimee Terese
The Canadian Cancer Society is drawing criticism once again for maintaining a recommendation that men who claim to identify as women should undergo pap smears as part of a cervical cancer screening process.
On a webpage titled “As a trans woman, do I need to get screened for cervical cancer?” Canada’s largest national cancer charity provides advice for males who identify as transgender curious about receiving a cervical cancer screening.
According to the Mayo Clinic, cervical cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix. Various strains of the human papillomavirus, a sexually transmitted infection, play a role in causing most cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is detected through semi-regular screenings called Pap smears, in which a small brush is used to gently remove cells from the surface of the cervix so they can be tested.
But the Canadian Cancer Society has been providing guidance to males who identify as women on the female-specific cancer.
“If you’re a trans woman, you may not have given much thought to Pap tests and cervical cancer. And if you haven’t, that makes a fair amount of sense. After all, in order to get cervical cancer, you need to have a cervix — that is, the organ that connects the vagina to the uterus,” the Cancer Society’s official website reads. It goes on to state that “trans women” who have “had bottom surgery to create a vagina and possibly a cervix” should talk to a medical professional to “figure out specific cancer-screening needs.”
A member of the Reduxx team contacted the Canadian Cancer Society posing as a trans-identified male seeking cervical cancer screening information and was provided the same guidance as was on the website. The operator with the Canadian Cancer Society also provided information on gender affirming care, and spent over 30 minutes attempting to provide helpful information on cervical cancer.
The Canadian Cancer Society’s guidance stands in stark contrast to that from the United Kingdom, whose National Health Service clearly states that that males have no cervix, and thus have no need to have a cervical cancer screening.
“If you’re a trans woman or non-binary person assigned male at birth, you do not need cervical screening as you do not have a cervix,” the NHS website states. The guidance was affirmed by Cancer Research UK, the country’s national cancer charity and world’s largest, which stated that “trans women do not have a cervix, so don’t need to consider taking part in cervical screening.”
Cancer Research UK goes on to dispel the Canadian Cancer Society’s reference to cervical cancer impacting a fabricated cervix, stating that “this is made of a different type of cells to the cervix in a cisgender woman.”
The “neo-cervix” created during a vaginoplasty is most often comprised of tissue from the bladder, rectum, and/or penis. The structure of the cavity itself can also be formed from buccal fat tissue from the mouth, or skin grafted from other areas of the body.
The Canadian Cancer Society’s guidance has started making the rounds on Twitter, where it is receiving ridicule from netizens.

Podcaster Aimee Terese first uploaded screenshots from the Canadian Cancer Society’s website on March 13, adding to her thread: “PSA: MEN DO NOT HAVE A CERVIX. You’re welcome.”
The information quickly began to make the rounds, drawing outrage from women concerned about their erasure in medicine.
“Are they looking up these men’s arseholes then?! Ffs, this is appalling. Taking up potentially life-saving appts for women to appease the fucking gynophiles! Sick to death of what seems like the entire world bending over backwards for pathetic men,” user @sarforalltosee wrote in response to a screenshot posted by popular UK-based commentator @ripx4nutmeg.
Some women have even stated they will be cancelling their donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, with one user referencing her own experience with cervical cancer.
“I was livid when I read that garbage,” one Canadian woman who survived cervical cancer wrote, posting a screenshot of the Canadian Cancer Society’s mobile webpage.

The medical establishment has been increasingly impacted by gender identity politics in recent years.
Last April, Reduxx revealed in an exclusive how students studying midwifery at Edinburgh Napier University were taught that biological males could get pregnant and give birth through their penis before instructors hastily edited a workbook they were given.
The idea that men who identify as women may be able to give birth has resulted in medical papers and research on the topic of uterus and womb transplants. In 2021, the academic journal Bioethics published a paper by an obstetrician-gynecologist and clinician scientist at McGill University which argued that trans-identifying men are entitled to womb transplants as a basic human right.
“There isn’t an ethical reason why they should be denied access to the procedure,” said Dr. Jacques Balayla.
“A woman who is born without a uterus and a man who transitions into a woman because of gender dysphoria have a similar claim to maternity if we consider them to have equivalent rights to fulfill the reproductive potential of their gender,” Balayla said. “And I think that we should.”
Last year, a surgeon in India announced that he is developing a surgical plan to implant a womb in a biological male who identifies as transgender. “Every transgender woman wants to be as female as possible, and that includes being a mother,” said Dr. Kaushik said.
Most recently, a video of a trans-identifying male proposing “live donors” be used for uterine transplants sparked outrage on social media.
Alicyn Cathleen Simpson, employed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Children’s Hospital, explained that his proposal for live uterine donations would involve a person who was “assigned female at birth” but identified as a “transgender man,” and therefore, in theory, would willingly offer up their uterus to a male person who identified as a “woman.”

In contrast, women have frequently been referred to by their body parts in a practice that critics have rejected. In 2016, the US-based LGBTQ+ organization the Human Rights Campaign released a guidance which referred to female anatomy as a “front hole,” a term that is also used in transgender pornography.
In 2021, medical journal The Lancet was accused of sexism and dehumanising women after its editors used the term “bodies with vaginas” to refer to women on the front page of their publication.
The following year, a German federal government agencyand biomedical research institute called women “people with short urethras” whose primary sex organs are the “front hole” or “pussy.”
A survey of 182 men who identify as women found that 90% of respondents believed that having “a transplanted, functioning vagina would improve their sexual experience” and 99% believed that “a uterus transplant would lead to greater happiness.”

considering recent events maybe the board of directors of the Canadian Cancer Society are just afraid of getting their cars smashed up.

College and Being LGBTQ+
Hello Everyone, this is new for me, so let’s be nice about this. This topic is both an important one and a relevant one for me and many many others.
So, I guess this might require a reintroduction of myself.
Hello guys, I’m Chastelia, or Chess, and I recently discovered that I was Non-Binary in an awfully specific and niche way, (probably not niche though...) among other discoveries. I’m an undergraduate student right now and like many others have noticed with our chaotic year, uhm, lots of things are happening and lots of rights are being taken away constantly. So, when you’re an LGBTQ+ student in college, whether out or not, that can pose some fears, issues, insecurities, and a lack of safety, but literally and mentally. I’m sure that a lot of us must go into hiding when college or any form of higher education is mentioned and I’m sure that this case is even worse for Trans people.
I’m under the trans umbrella and I can imagine discovering my identity (which I’ve done) with how our year has been and then having to go to college (which I am doing) throughout all that with this constant paranoia and fear of harassment and violence. We don’t choose where we live or end up living in. Some of us are lucky to be born in liberal areas that could be and can be more accepting of us... and others are born in extremely conservative areas where many never even get the chance to come out at all. College can be a new world for any student, and it should be for all students. We should all be able to come to our universities or wherever we choose to go after high school and feel comfortable enough to walk in our own skin, with our identity intact, and with no danger to our person or those around us.
We have seen many tragedies this year, especially those of transgender youths, and especially black transwomen/men/people. With deaths of the caliber that we’ve seen, it makes sense for there to be this air of fear and panic when it comes to leaving our own homes to pursue careers in areas that might not or simply won’t accept us. Some of us don’t even have homes that accept us, and many of us BIPOC people under this umbrella have our own communities that do not even acknowledge or accept us. Being LGBTQ+ simply is not a choice and we don’t wish to live in this constant bubble of fear, anger, and anxiety upon revealing ourselves to the public. College can be a place of safety for us, but it’s often not when one is questioned about what is between their legs before they sign up for sports (or any gender assigned system), or if their identity is even authentic to begin with. We deal with this white-cis-heteronormative society daily and it follows us even into college, our careers, and even our deaths. We shouldn’t have to go through this and some of us are strong despite it, but that’s beside the point. These issues shouldn’t exist, but they do, and it needs to be acknowledged before we can start solving the problem. We should be asking ourselves where we fit in this elaborate puzzle and if we’re really doing the right thing by turning our heads when a small, harmful comment is made or standing still when someone is harassed in front of us. This is a team effort, and we should not be the only ones pulling this weight and this totem for change.
