hi hi! I hope this message isn’t too late or anything, since I only just seen the one you send me this morning! Also I accidentally deleted your messages while trying to reply 🤦‍♀️
But if it’s still alright, may I request an Armin Arlert x slightly thicker/chubby reader? just something soft and simple! maybe he’s noticed that the reader doesn’t eat very much anymore, and is skipping meals, and he confronts her about it, because he doesn’t want her getting sick or something happening. She obviously gets a little upset about it, and like, tells him she’s been having a hard week and has been super insecure lately. She just doesn’t like the way she looks, and Armin comforts her and stuff! All the love and cuddles! 🥰 I’m in need for this rn honestly 😭
I hope i did it right!! Things are more internalized due to my own self indulgence, i hope you like it!!
Tw: self harm(starving)
Another day passed, and you hated being in the corps more and more, with the men objectifying you and the women with their fake smiles and judgemental looks, aside from Mikasa that is. You felt her hand on your shoulder, staring right back at them as you passed.
She was the only girl-friend you’ve ever had, which makes your bond with each other especially strong, she called you her therapy stuffed animal( in a good way) with how loving and kind you were when she came home to eren’s house. You were always there, you gave her her first jacket, you bear-hugged her when she was at her worst and missed her parents, you stood by her and never faltered. Even going as far as telling off Eren for being tactless to her feelings, poor boy has no social cues.
Eren loved you for how truly different you really are, despite being an only child, you were his sister, as much as a pain in the ass you are. But this called for you being apart of his and Mika’s friend group with no doubt. Being part of erens tight knit group of friends means you were automatically loved by eren, mika…. And armin.
You always had a fondness for the shy blonde, his all bark and no bite nature stole your heart. You met at a young age but only connected through Eren, he always tells you to thank him for that introduction despite your efforts to play off your crush being in vain. You loved how… pure he looked, how in a world full of death and violence, he could always bring light into your day with a smile or a story. No matter what you could count on his smile, you could count on him.
That’s why you hated today with a passion.
“We have extra food, which one of you dumbasses didn’t eat all your shit?” You sighed, walking away from the situation you caused. It wasn’t a good day, their comments bugged you today for some reason, and Armin wasn’t there to perk up the atmosphere of this gloomy day. Making it unreasonably difficult for you to focus on your own health today, this isn’t even the first time this has happened. It’s been a week of irregular meals, constant moving, and titan stress. It wasn’t like you were trying to starve, you just didn’t have the time.
And you didn’t notice till today.
“Lookin’ thinner, bunny… are you eating well?” You ignore eren’s concerned comment, pressing forward with the group in disturbed silence. This was the fifth comment today about your looks that you’ve gotten. You weren’t a small person, you had extra meat, and you had curves, paired with your adorable tiger stripes, but you know for a fact that starving this little would not affect your appearance that much. It irritated you, and you vowed to tell off the next person who said anything.
“Y/n can-“ “Oh my GOD, are you SERIOUS? I’ve been eating! I havent lost that much weight and i don’t want to hear your Perverted FUCKING Mouth say anything! It’s idiotic for you to continue to act like a jealous schoolgirl and make your ‘sly’ comments! So just Shut up!”
You finally open your eyes from your rant, regretful as your irises meet two bright blue eyes on a horrified face. “I was just going to ask if you can slow down and walk with me-“ Guilt floods your mind as you ear him squeak out his words. You lower your gaze and nod, moving to the back of the group with the boy. It didn’t matter how long this would be, you knew Levi would make you set up for camp soon.
“ ‘m sorry armin, you didn’t deserve that, I’m just-“ “Don’t apologize, you didn’t mean it to me but it was still valid. But never mind that, are you ok? Yes you haven’t been eating but you’ve been…. Cold lately..” You wanted to tell him, just say, ‘ I’m so in love with you that even a few days without your voice makes me angry as shit’ but you knew it wasn’t the right time…. And besides, would he even accept a girl like you?
“I’m fine, just stressed, tired, and overwhelmed…. It’s a lot you know?” Armin nods walking closer to you and letting your answer settle before your group sets up for camp and your pace continues to slow.
“You’re beautiful no matter what, I’ve read articles that said starving is actually terrible for your body, unintentional or not, it won’t end up good. If i have to,” He flushes, continuing to look ahead,” I’ll stay with you all day to make sure you’re eating and drinking water.” You freeze, feeling flushed as you watch him walk away and realize that he just offered to be around you all day just for you to be healthy.
You shake it off, keeping his words at the forefront of your mind before you get ready to retire for the night. You find a note on your blanket, asking you to meet armin at his tent with water and a blanket. Curious as to what it means you do as the note says, waiting at armin’s tent before he opens the zipper with a happy smile, welcoming you inside.
“You got the water?” You lift up the container, making him nod and turn away to a covered pile in his room. He takes the cover off, revealing the food he gathered for you two. “You didn’t eat again, so I didn’t either. And before you say anything, i got some of everything  so you have to eat SOMETHING! I told you all day didn’t I?” You look at him with teary eyes, your emotions of the week spilling out at his gesture.
Sobs wrack your body before he pulls you into his form, engulfing you in a warm hug. You feel him draw soothing circles on your back, rocking you and letting out slow shushes in attempts to calm your mind. You feel him kiss the top of your head and rubbing your back more before he pulls away and guides you to the setup of food.
He grabs you a plate of everything, making you sit and eat with him. You nibble at your food, uninterested in grossing out the guy you like by eating in front of him. But that only made him take your fork and feed you himself, he was determined for you to take care of yourself and love yourself as he loves you. You notice him watch you eat with admiration, happy to see you finally giving yourself some nourishment. You hear him sigh and hesitate, but you leave it untouched before he breaks the silence.
“You know…. I’ve loved you for years, ever since you punched out that kid who threatened me for speaking up, and how you always listened to me talk about the books I’ve read and things I’ve heard-“ “i know, i love you too armin.” “No not like that, I’m IN love with you, like i want to hold your hands, kiss you everywhere, curl into you at night, i want to love you.” You stop mid chew, maintaining eye contact as you swallow and stare at him.
“Are you serious?” “Yes.” “Like you’re not-“ “Y/n L/n I am completely and utterly in love with you.” You push the food aside, crawling between his legs and curling up onto his chest and wrapping your arms around his torso. “I love you so much it hurts armin. It hurt me so badly when you wouldn’t talk to me, i don’t know what i did but i was so mad that i pushed you away.”
Armin tilted your chin up, pressing a quick kiss to your lips before he grabbed onto your soft form with a passion. “I’ll never do that again, I’m so sorry beautiful.” You hold onto him tighter pressing your ear to his chest to hear his heartbeat. “You really think I’m beautiful?”
He pulls away, reaching over you to grab your blanket…. Man he really plans things out, before he wraps it around you both and presses a kiss to your temple. He lets his hands sink into your skin, loving how your soft skin feels on his fingertips. His lips pepper kisses on your neck, pulling slightly back to press a kiss onto your hairline. You loved how gentle he was with you, you already knew the answer to to your question before he even opened his mouth.
“More then you can ever know, my love.”

Movies I watched in July
Once again I’m doing my monthly round-up of movies I’ve watched. This was a good month for the cinema getting back on track and seeing new releases including the new M. Night movie, Old and James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Pretty sure Marvel put out a new movie also. I’m hoping that this list can help in guiding a decision about what to watch (or what to avoid) and introduce people to movies they may otherwise not have heard of or bothered to see. These short reviews are my own subjective opinions on each individual movie and maybe a more informal approach to movie criticism can help include others who are just passing through. Here is every film I watched from the 1st to the 31st of July.
Bridesmaids (2011) - 4/10
Off to a good start. I won’t say Bridesmaids is a terrible movie but I don’t think I’m exactly the target audience. As far as I know, this is a beloved comedy but I just can’t get on board with all the boring, juvenile humour; with Maya Rudolph shitting in the street, with Rose Byrne and Kristen Wiig trying to one-up each other at a toast that went on forever, with Melissa McCarthy shitting in a sink… the conflict is so done to death and makes the movie feel unspecial. I do understand the appeal of the film, especially for women in that before this movie the likelihood of seeing something like this, where women play up the more crass and gross side of comedy, was probably few and far between. But the story is very tired and while I did appreciate some moments, namely a couple of decent jokes and some of the more intimate scenes, for the most part it felt like they wanted to corner a more quiet type of line delivery in a way that was supposed to be understated but very funny so as to not rely on over the top body language or musical cues, and it ended up being super dull.
Tumblr media
Spectre (2015) - 7/10
As far as I can tell, a lot of people don’t like this instalment of the James Bond franchise… but I really enjoyed it! I’ve really taken a shine to these Daniel Craig-era Bond movies and while I can’t say any of them are the most amazing thing, I have a lot of fun with them. The biggest problem I have with Spectre is the villain being utterly pointless and uninteresting in basically every way. The idea of every villain Bond has fought before being tied to this one organisation controlled by this one guy is ridiculous, and what makes it worse is that the villain is barely in it! There’s so much that doesn’t come together in this but as it goes, I still had a really good time. Daniel Craig holds the whole thing together; he is excellent as 007 and the main reason I’m up for each of these movies is because of him. Sam Mendes directs again after the previous instalment and for what it’s worth I do think he does a good job with some of the action set pieces and the locations. I’m so ready for No Time To Die.
Shazam (2019) - 7/10
Shazam is a genuinely fun superhero movie that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. I was having a great time throughout and while it could conform to some of the same tropes we’re used to with these kinds of movies, it still remained playful and used the character of Shazam to his fullest potential in a way that showed an understanding of just how silly the idea of a kid who can turn into an adult and shoot lightning out of his hands is.
High School Musical (2006) - 6/10
So as you may or may not know, I co-host a podcast: The Sunday Movie Marathon. It’s a film podcast and every week I get together with my other co-hosts and watch movies. For episode 38, we watched the High School Musical trilogy. This first movie blew me away. I was really surprised with just how much fun I had, and if you want to hear more of my thoughts on the film, please listen to episode 38 of the podcast.
High School Musical 2 (2007) - 4/10
We then jumped into the second and while it’s certainly not as good as its predecessor, there are still some brilliant songs that manage to top the last movie. Again, more of what I have to say can be heard on episode 38 of the podcast.
Tumblr media
High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) - 3/10
Senior Year was pretty hard to get through. I don’t remember it being as bad as it was, but then I didn’t really remember it anyway. It did however have one redeeming quality, which you can discover on episode 38 of the podcast.
The Piano Teacher (2001) - 9/10
What the fuuuckkkk. The Piano Teacher is horrendously affecting and I was so upset when it ended, maybe not because it’s not what I wanted but because it’s just so fucking dour and unrelenting. This is the second Haneke movie I’ve seen (after the original Funny Games) and I’m so impressed with how well executed it is. Following a woman who teaches piano, we get a glimpse into the life she lives, how sheltered she is from living with her mother at an age where you’d reasonably expect a person to be living alone or with a partner or friends (even going so far as to be sleeping in the same bed as her), and how repressed she is sexually. It’s clear she’s never experienced any kind of sexual interaction or romantic love with another person, so she goes out of her way to take control and make that happen. The upsetting nature of it comes from just what she does in pursuit of it or as a result of her repression, and what is done to her. It is by no means a movie to recommend to your parents but The Piano Teacher offers so much in terms of the ideas it presents (and I’ll admit there seems to be a lot more going on than I think I picked up on a first go round) about women in modern society, and about the portrayal of sex and expectations of people when it comes to how that is represented in a person’s character depending on their gender. I really enjoyed this movie but it is not for the faint of heart.
Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure (2011) - 1/10
My podcast co-hosts decided it’d be a right laugh to add Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure to this episode and that might have been a fun idea for them because they got to watch it together, but I was just watching it alone. Just a 24-year-old man watching Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure alone and having a miserable time, I might add. But for a short and sweet ramble on what we all thought, please listen to episode 38 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast.
Dr. No (1962) - 6/10
A lot of very iffy parts of this movie. A lot of discomfort arising from how black people are portrayed that really didn’t sit right with me. As far as a Bond movie goes, this first instalment in the series is one I’ve seen before and it’s not wholly engaging but it plants the seeds for the rest, with Sean Connery breathing life into the role and making an otherwise lacklustre plot bearable.
Tumblr media
Black Widow (2021) - 6/10
I think probably the best part about Black Widow is the experience I had while watching it. It was great being back in the cinema with a couple of friends in a packed theatre. The energy was high and I’m sure for a lot of people, this is the first time they’d been to the cinema since Endgame. For what it’s worth, I did have a lot of fun with Black Widow and I’ve explained more of what I thought about the movie in episode 39 of the podcast.
The Climb (2020) - 10/10
The Climb was added to Now TV recently and I already knew I loved it, having seen it in an empty cinema theatre last year, which I had an absolute blast with. The Climb details the years of a rocky friendship told over scenes filmed as one-shots. Not only is the presentation something to gawk at, but the performances by the two leads playing these friends with a terrifically dysfunctional dynamic is truly captivating. They’re both trying to figure out their own lives and where one can come across as being rather selfish, the opposite is true in his counterpart, whom everyone loves. This is a truly funny and heartwarming movie with a lot to say about how we choose to live our lives and who we choose to be with. It’s a shame the distributors of The Climb didn’t do a very good job because if not for it being available on Now TV, it would be near impossible to watch without forking out more money than is necessary to purchase a film.
From Russia With Love (1963) - 5/10
The second Bond movie. I thought perhaps I’d change my mind on it with another watch, having seen it for the first time maybe a year ago. But no, it’s still largely boring and it treats women like absolute garbage. From Russia With Love is one of those movies I forget as I watch it, and I was trying very hard (in the middle of the day!) not to fall asleep.
The Good, The Bart, and The Loki (2021) - 1/10
I don't usually talk about the short films I watch but for this I'll make an exception. As we all should know, Disney owns The Simpsons now, through their acquisition of Fox, so, coupled with another of their properties, that being Marvel, they decided to make a six-minute animated film wherein Marvel’s Loki is stranded in Springfield. This felt as though it was a minute long due to the horrendously jarring pacing; it is a movie that feels adamant that it needs to exist, while trying as hard as it can to be over as soon as possible. It serves only to stare the audience directly in the face and say “look, characters from The Simpsons are dressed as Avengers”, shit out three credit scenes, then end before you’ve even processed the atrocity you just bore witness to.
Tumblr media
Russian Ark (2002) - 8/10
For this next episode of the podcast, we watched a few Russian movies, starting with Russian Ark, a film shot completely in one take as the camera moves about a luxurious museum in a first-person perspective as this main character watches what is happening around him, seeing people moving about the place but unable to interact with them, guided only by another man who seems to be just slightly out of his own perception of reality. This is a tremendous feat in filmmaking and more can be heard about what I have to say in episode 39 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast.
Ivan’s Childhood (1962) - 7/10
For my own pick of Russian movies to discuss on the podcast, I chose the debut feature from one of my favourite directors, Andrei Tarkovsky. It’s amazing that while this is not his best film by far, Ivan’s Childhood is still such a stellar debut, jumping around in its timeline as it details a child’s experience in the second world war. Again, I do go into more depth in episode 39 of the podcast, so be sure to check that out.
Outlaw (2019) - 1/10
The third movie chosen for this marathon is apparently the fourth Russian LGBTQ+ movie ever made. I’m unsure of the ultimate goal of this movie but what seems to be clear is that it hates the LGBTQ+ community. This is perhaps the worst film we’ve discussed on the podcast to date, so listen to episode 39 to understand exactly why it’s such trash.
Almost Famous (2000) - 7/10
I too love heavy music and also studied journalism so it stands to reason that a movie about a teenager who makes his way onto a band tour, following them through America and interviewing them as they hang out and play shows is going to be a premise that resonates with me. This certainly did. I enjoyed Almost Famous a lot; this kid is living the dream and I was so along for the ride, seeing a lot of myself in what was being portrayed. That said, the story itself is at times a bit by the numbers and I really would’ve been more on board if the visual component was more interesting. For what it is, technically it’s fine enough but nothing in that department ever jumped out at me.
Tumblr media
Minari (2021) - 8/10
It’s crazy that this didn’t get a theatrical run where I live in the UK. It feels as though I complain about film distribution all the time but I really don’t understand the process by which a movie gets no cinematic release and yet, months later will pop up on the front shelf of hmv, taking pride of place. But of course I got the blu-ray straight away. Minari has a lot to say about the immigrant experience, specifically in America as a family comes over from Korea and tries to start a business and make something of themselves. You get to see a lot of what you might not think twice about when you think about immigration: the hardship of coming from a place where you know everyone to somewhere rural and sparsely populated, having to make friends with locals and integrate within the community; the strain it can put on a family and on a marriage where this idea is presented about the importance of making it on your own in order to live and not just survive, while also taking into account why you’re doing it in the first place and the value you place on being part of a family that you decided to make because that was more important than money, than economy, than proving you were good enough to make it in a place that gave you very little advantage from the offset. This concept of the promised land, of the American dream is a construct. There are times when it’s not pretty, when you have no running water, or you’re in debt, or a family member is dying and it just feels like you’ve been dealt as bad a hand as you can get. But it is better to know you’re not facing all that alone.
Roma (2018) - 10/10
This was my recommendation for the podcast episode on Alfonso Cuarón movies. Roma is as beautiful as it is heart-wrenching and I would recommend listening to episode 40 of the podcast to find out more about my thoughts.
An American Werewolf In London (1981) - 8/10
In all fairness, London is enough to make anyone a little crazy at the best of times. An American Werewolf in London showcases some fantastically grotesque effects, akin to something like Carpenter’s The Thing, in showing the dead brought back to life and a horrifically gory transformation scene. Although the film is from the perspective of an American protagonist, directed also by an American, the depiction of British culture and climate is something I’ve not seen many films pull off quite so well, and I was pleasantly surprised at the more comedic tone the film has overall, which is something that works more in its favour than straight horror would.
The Party’s Just Beginning (2018) - 6/10
Karen Gillan’s directorial debut is… pretty good! There are a lot of ideas I like in this movie: a woman living life and through convenient circumstances, is confronted with death in many ways. Gillan obviously knows her homeland as well as she can, imbuing the whole thing with an intensely Scottish vibe (though maybe not in the same vein as something like Trainspotting) that makes it a bit more unique than a more run of the mill movie of this ilk, backed up in no small part by her own main performance. The plot itself is no great diversion from the kind of story I’m used to with these smaller movies and for something that’s trying to include messaging about transgender issues and suicide, it probably could have been handled better or done in a different way.
Tumblr media
Solaris (1972) - 9/10
Another Tarkovsky joint, one I thought I’d revisit to see if there was indeed more to get out of it a second time. Well, it’s no surprise that yes, there was certainly more to get out of it. Solaris is a crazy trip of a movie and I would liken it to Kubrick’s 2001 in terms of how grand the scale of it feels. Yet this is a film that comes across as deeply personal, choosing to focus on a specific character as he goes to a space station to help those on board who are experiencing some kind of emotional crises, only to feel the effects of the planet, Solaris invading his own mind as it has the crew. To many, I can see this lengthy Russian sci-fi being a tad slow but my personal experience is one of deep engagement. Solaris pulls its viewer in a lot of different directions and it is always doing something unexpected in terms of where its narrative goes. There’s a lot to think about with the movie and thankfully it’s no chore to watch again.
Y Tu Mamá También (2001) - 9/10
Another recommendation for the podcast episode on Alfonso Cuarón movies. This is a very relaxed experience, following three young people as they go on a road trip, visit different places and have sex. Listen to episode 40 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast for more of my thoughts.
Children of Men (2006) - 10/10
My favourite Cuarón movie, one that never stops being tense as its characters are constantly moving towards the end goal. Set in a future where humans are infertile, the oldest living person is 18, and London is the last city in the world that’s still keeping it together, somewhat. This is masterclass filmmaking. Listen to episode 40 of the podcast for more insights.
Minority Report (2002) - 5/10
I’m really not the biggest fan of Spielberg… Minority Report is an interesting movie in terms of its concept of stopping crimes before they happen by way of prediction, but I just didn’t connect with the heart of it. The colouring is way too overexposed in a way that’s supposed to be eliciting a futuristic vibe but instead feels so early-2000’s in the worst way. My biggest problem with Minority Report is just how long it is, clocking in at two hours and twenty-five minutes which allows for a lot of meandering, all while never quite developing characters enough for you to care about.
Tumblr media
Caché (2005) - 9/10
Oh god! Another Michael Haneke movie! Here we see a couple periodically sent video tapes featuring hours of footage of the outside of their house. The anxiety ratchets up and the mystery gets deeper with every minute. There’s always at least one moment in any of his films that have so far made me realise just how out of my depth I am. Caché is no exception, and I won’t spoil anything here because I think it’s better just to watch the movie and see for yourself. He is a director that wants the audience to know something and that something is never what is explicitly shown at face value; it is pressed into the fabric of the film - plainly evident, yet hidden. Caché is so stupidly clever in displaying its themes and messaging - making reference to the Siene Massacre of 1961 as well as a deeper study of colonialism - and there’s no way to change a single detail of it without risking the Jenga tower crumbling to the ground. It all works in tandem. It is passion and fury and haunting.
Coco (2017) - 7/10
Pixar had a string of around seven forgettable movies before this point so thankfully Coco emerged to show the company still had something good in them. Coco deals a lot with themes of death and legacy, remembering those who are gone in order to preserve them and while its plotting is quite basic and there are certainly moments that either drag or cannot escape the same Pixar formula, most of what the movie has to offer is a lot of fun, with creative, colourful animation and emotional beats that resonate the way they’re supposed to.
Incredibles 2 (2018) - 5/10
Oh, they almost had it! There's a lot here that could have been explored in far more interesting ways. Setting Incredibles 2 directly after the events of the first movie was not a good idea. If it had taken place five or ten years after, the characters could have been in different places in life and it would feel as though they'd actually changed and developed. But instead of trying to be a film that actually cares about its characters and the journeys they go on, a lot of the film is wrestling with the idea that Bob isn't supportive of his wife and Jack-Jack has to fight a raccoon… They have to shoehorn in a villain that in no way compares to the genius of the original. The ending of the original introduces another antagonist that gets wrapped up within this film's first ten minutes, except they don't catch him and he's never mentioned again. It's a real shame because the animation is fantastic and the acting is superb and there are great ideas sprinkled throughout. It just doesn't come together.
Toy Story 4 (2019) - 6/10
I was rather reluctant to watch Toy Story 4 because from the get-go I’m not really here for sequels being made just for the sake of it. Everyone loves Toy Story and making another one is a sure fire way to make money. This is the first time I’ve seen Toy Story 4 and for what it’s worth, I did enjoy it. The animation is immaculate and that alone feels like a huge flex from Pixar who tend to step up the game when it comes to animation in film, despite not having the best track record for films generally at this point. While it was nice to see these characters again, I found a lot of them to be side-lined (namely Buzz) in favour of a story that focuses mainly or entirely on Woody, who I just don’t like as much as in the previous movies. Generally the movie is good and decent enough but there’s no real antagonist and the plot is quite loose… it doesn’t feel as though it needed to be made from a story point of view.
Tumblr media
Onward (2020) - 6/10
And with that I have seen every Pixar movie. And Onward is a fine one to go out on. While I don’t think it compares to the likes of earlier Pixar it’s still pretty fun. Or maybe I’m just a sucker for a medieval setting filled with bright colours and magic! Speaking of which, the animation was super and the medieval quest element is something that hooked me with the film. Again, plot-wise it does feel very familiar and I don’t know, maybe I’m past the point now of expecting Pixar to mix it up where their formula for story-telling is concerned but the movie is quite predictable. Nonetheless, while I’m not rushing back to see Onward I would hardly turn it off or refuse if someone wanted to watch it.
Old (2021) - 3/10
Oh boy! New M. Night movie dropped and my word, was it fun! For more of my thoughts on this… masterpiece (?) of a movie, please direct your attention to episode 41 of The Sunday Movie Marathon podcast.
T2 Trainspotting (2017) - 5/10
Trainspotting is perhaps one of my favourite movies and I had never bothered with the sequel, 20 years on, because the ending of that first movie is so conclusive. T2 felt more an excuse for these guys to get together again and in that, I probably would have preferred a couple of pictures on Twitter of the main cast and director, Danny Boyle having dinner or something. This is a fine movie - very arty in its presentation but meandering and dull in its story that doesn’t offer much in the way of proof that it had to exist.
Taste of Cherry (1997) - 9/10
What makes life worth living? This is a central question and theme of Taste of Cherry, and one that leaves such interpretation not only up to its central character but to the viewer as well. This film got me thinking about times in my life when I truly have had no answer to hard questions. Because it’s hard to convince people of things they are so adamantly against and harder still to rationalise what you believe if you’re not even entirely sure why you believe it in the first place. We are all of us alive and in recognising that, does that make it precious? And if indeed living is not a happy thing, why then should we fight so hard to preserve it? I felt upset as I watched this movie because I’ve been asked these kinds of questions before and it makes me feel stupid when I’m unable to answer. But the only real answer I can give is, everything. And if you can’t see the point then you’re not looking hard enough. Taste of Cherry is beautiful in its exploration of these topics and in its overall presentation, offering some of the best visuals in any movie I’ve seen - fitting for a feature with so much to say about the beauty of life - and an ending that as much pulls the rug out from under you as it does pull you out of the dark and make you realise just how lonely you’ve felt.
Tumblr media
Bones (2001) - 2/10
Snoop Dogg is Jimmy Bones! This film is super funny but I’m not sure it’s trying to be and I really didn’t love it overall. But I do talk more in depth about it in episode 41 of the podcast.
The Duchess (2008) - 5/10
Another recommendation for the podcast. The Duchess was pretty much exactly what I thought it was going to be and there’s a lot to like about it but generally it’s a bit sparse. For more chat on the movie, listen to episode 41 of the podcast.
The Man With One Red Shoe (1985) - 1/10
This was another one for the podcast and man, was it awful. We had to watch it at 1.5x speed towards the end because it just wasn’t getting finished otherwise. To find out more, make sure to listen to episode 41 of the podcast.
The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) - 7/10
Pull the lever, Kronk! Haha! Slays me. I do quite miss this era of Disney, where the animation was hand-drawn and the stories were actually compelling and funny. The Emperor’s New Groove is vibrant, it’s got great characters and memorable moments that will forever be ingrained in the memory of culture. All in all, it’s just a solid flick that doesn’t waste time, developing the standard fall from glory type of arc but smoothly and in an entertaining way.
The Suicide Squad (2021) - 8/10
Oh, bloody hell! They actually made a good one! The Suicide Squad is not only better than the ‘Suicide Squad’ of 2016 in every way, it’s a genuinely great film! This time, James Gunn (director of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies) is at the helm and it seems clear that Warner Bros. basically let him do what he wanted with the movie, as it doesn’t seem to bog itself down with the restrictions of a more family-friendly rating. The result of this is a far cleaner, colourful film with a clearer vision that takes from early Vietnam movies and uses that style to craft a superhero/villain movie that differentiates itself among the copious amount of existing films of the genre.      The Suicide Squad wastes very little time, introducing fun, crazy characters we’ve not seen on the big screen before and isn’t worried about killing a whole bunch of them, with standouts being Elba’s Bloodsport, Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2, Stallone’s King Shark (expertly rendered with fantastic visual effects), and Robbie’s returning interpretation of Harley Quinn.      A lot of Gunn’s trademark sense of humour is laced throughout and more often than not, it hits. The audience at the cinema were truly loving this movie and I’ll admit, I was right there with them. This mix of the gritty, gory and absurd is not something that should work as well as it does but the basic premise of the film is already so silly (and boy, do they know it) that it just works! Certainly one of the best DC movies since The Dark Knight and one I’d be more than happy to watch again. This is what the modern comic book movie should be: just balls to the wall fun!

After your afternoon class with Jisung, he quickly noted that you were absent for the rest of the day.
Sure, you didn’t have any other classes, but normally you would be hunkered down in the library with your nose stuffed in some sort of book, or wandering around campus with Felix at your heels. You were either cramming due to your procrastination or roaming around procrastinating. Jisung also knew you weren’t a fan of staying in your small dorm room since your roommate loved flaunting the fact that she had a boyfriend and how she wasn’t shy about anyone witnessing their ‘acts of love’.
So he really had no idea where you were, and it bugged him a little more than he would like to admit.
But outwardly, he didn’t want to show just how worried he was. You were his best friend’s sister, it wasn’t his job to make a fuss about something so trivial. It would be weird if he went looking for you… but if Minho just so happened to get word of his little sister’s sudden disappearance, Jisung would have to help his dear friend search for you.
It was only common courtesy.
“Minho, I think Y/n was kidnapped.”
“You WHAT?!”
Okay, starting the phone call with that probably wasn’t the best choice, but what other choice did he have. Jisung was an impatient guy.
“Yeah, I don’t know what happened.” He replied casually, already able to hear the panic on Minho’s end of the call. “She was here and then she wasn’t.”
Not only was he impatient, he was a(n idiot) songwriter; his words articulate and poetic.
Minho was silent for a second before cutting back for the call.
“I texted Changbin and he said she just ran off.”
Jisung frowned. “Do they know where she went?”
“Apparently to beat some sense into me.”
The two friends knew then where you were and a rush of panic filled their chests all at the same time.
“Fuck—”
“—Chan.”
Jisung nearly dropped his phone in the process of hanging up, immediately taking off towards the familiar apartment.
His worst nightmare was coming true—Chan was an unknown in Jisung’s mind. He was handsome, charismatic, and an older guy, so it was realistic to imagine you falling head-over-heels if you were to ever meet him. Unfortunately, it seemed like fate wasn’t in his favor and he was in deep shit if you were really at the apartment alone with Chan.
Alone with Chan.
He shivered at the thought.
The only brightside to the ordeal was that Minho was also aware of the dangerous situation. Out of everyone, he would be the only one to prevent any feelings from sprouting between you. Jisung counted on Minho every time and he never once failed to preform.
Dear god, he hoped he didn’t decide to stop now.
Arriving at the complex, he almost rammed full speed into Minho, who was also going as fast as his legs could take him. They only shared one glance before trampling over their feet to get up the stairs, no doubt bothering the neighbors along their way.
Minho was the one to swing the door open, his head on a swivel as he walked in. He was ready to break up any inappropriate business with as much force necessary—he didn’t care if Chan’s bicep was twice the size of his head, he had leg power on his side. And if he saw your tongue anywhere near Chan’s, Minho was going to be swinging.
“Chan?”
“Y/n?”
Thud.
There was a crash behind the closed door of the office, and both heads perked up at the sound.
Minho hurried forward, arm outstretched to grab the door, “No. No no no—”
Jisung never wanted in his life to see you involved with someone else. With your pretty eyes hooded and shining with desire, and your chest heaving heavily against the tight fabric of your blouse. It had been difficult enough to watch you fill out and grow into an attractive woman, he didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that you were old enough to meet other guys and moan their names.
He certainly didn’t want to hear you moan Chan’s name—of all people, why Chan?
“Shit, Chan—”
Jisung felt his face heat up as Minho pushed the door open, ready to pull his friend away to avoid the scene on the other side.
“—get your head away from my ass! The power strip isn’t even near there you prick!”
“Hey,” Chan defended with a laugh. “In my defense, all you said was it was over here somewhere. How do I know that somewhere isn’t next to your ass?”
The position that the two of you were in was compromising—though not in the way that Jisung had originally expected. It caused the two newcomers to freeze, their brains struggling to really understand what was happening.
The two of you were surrounded by thousands of cables and wires, black foam scattered across the floor as well. You were on your hands and knees, the only visible part of you was your bottom half with your head tucked underneath Chan’s mixing table doing who knows what. As for Chan, he was crawling around same as you, on his hands and knees with an extension cord wrapped around his shoulders.
“Uhm…” Minho gaped, eyes unable to focus on one part of the scene.
Jisung had no trouble at all, his eyes locked solidly on your raised ass.
You turned your head to look over your shoulder, eyes locking with Jisung’s and immediately widening. You couldn’t be in a worse situation—fucking hell.
In your haste to get out from under the table, you slammed the top of your head against one of the sturdy table legs and winced as Chan cracked up from your side.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in class—Jesus, ow…” You asked, your hand moving up to rub the forming bump.
“What’s going on?” Minho asked, his eyebrows brushing his bangs.
“Y/n wanted some help with her stats class and I needed someone to help me upturn this room and make it into a recording room.” Chan snorted at your little dramatic groans, completely unfazed by the growing frustration on Minho’s face.
But before Minho could say anything to Chan’s statement, Jisung stepped in.
His lips twisted sourly, “I thought Seungmin was going to help you with your stats stuff?”
You shook your head with a huff. “I will not subject myself to that kind of torture and I refuse to let anyone convince me otherwise.”
“Well you could’ve asked me.”
Defeated and jealous; Jisung could no longer hide it.
The two older boys could see it clearly in the way he looked at you with big sad eyes, though neither of them said anything. Chan’s brows furrowed in thought, it looked like you had someone else infatuated with you.
You laughed. “Uh-huh, because you’re the resident genius here. Jisung, you dropped two of your classes last semester because both professors were minutes away from giving you an administrative failure.”
“Yeah, yeah. Jisung’s head is full of rocks—” Minho dismissed, unsympathetic towards the scandalized boy next to him. “Why the hell are you turning my storage room into a junkyard?”
Chan finally stood, pulling the cord from his neck and throwing it to the side in favor of helping you up.
“It was already a junkyard, bundle-boy.” You said, voice clipped and annoyed. Who wouldn’t be after smashing their head against a solid piece of metal? “We were renovating.”
“Like hell you were. I thought I said no to the recording room?”
Minho’s rage was just about completely directed towards Chan, but to your surprise, the guy gave minimal to no reaction. His face stayed indifferent, wide shoulders relaxed and eyes set.
You’ll be dammed, the fucker wasn’t scared.
Chan wasn’t afraid of your brother.
There was someone on the planet who didn’t go running when Minho looked at them funny, and he was standing right next to you in his beautiful sleeveless glory. If you weren’t currently suffering from a possible concussion you would be dropping to one knee and popping the question then and there.
“Oh, so what you said earlier was a no?” Chan (very unconvincingly) feigned innocence. “Sorry, the phone connection must’ve been bad.”
“I was yelling to you from the other room.”
“These walls are very thick, Minho. It’s your apartment, you should know that.”
“Do you want to be homeless?”
“Define; home.”
That was it, he was your one true love.
As Minho began to cross his arms over his chest, squaring up to Chan with the glare of a certifiable killer, you slid out of the way to avoid the oncoming fist fight.
Or explosion, whichever route Minho decided to take.
But then the unthinkable happened—Minho sighed, dropping his arms to his sides and turning towards you.
Both you and Jisung stood speechless, because you just witnessed someone give Minho an attitude and not get beat down afterwards. Hyunjin had once attempted the same thing and had been chased around the quad for a good forty minutes until the taller man had gotten tired and your brother had become uninterested.
Felix told you that they were both reemed during dance practice that night for being too tired to execute their choreography.
Minho shook his head, “You and Changbin were probably going to convince me anyway. Might as well save the wasted time and get it done now.”
Either your brother had a fat crush on Chan, or the Lee Minho was afraid of someone.
You knew Chan was older than him, but someone had to have some sort of super power to keep Minho from kicking their shins and shoving a knee in their face.
“What is happening…?” Jisung wondered, eyes wide and mouth open.
Chan smiled, striding over to clap Jisung on the shoulder, making the shorter boy jump in surprise.
“Good news. We’re getting a recording studio.”
And you would like to get married to one Bang Chan please.
You joined Chan’s side.
“Now you can finish that song you were working on.” You said, nudging Jisung’s shoulder.
He was just going to ignore the sudden wave of excitement at the fact that you remembered that he was working on a song.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Jisung laughed tensely. “Looks like I’ll be around more often.”
“Yeah, definitely…”
You nodded absentmindedly, eyes locked on the exposed skin of Chan’s arms. Chan himself didn’t acknowledge your stare, but couldn’t help the smug smile that slid onto his face.
Jisung watched the exchange and groaned, looking over to glare at Minho for failing him the only time it truly would end badly for him. Because of course Minho had to be soft for Chan and of course Chan had to be moving in.
Why couldn’t Chan just be ugly?
“Okay,” Chan sighed, placing all the wires he held into a pile on the floor. Suddenly, he turned to you, “You held up your end of the bargain. Let’s work on some stats, huh?”
Your eyes widened for a second, caught in headlights.
“Oh,” was your smart reply. “But we didn’t get to finish?”
Chan waved it off. “The only reason we tried to get it all done was to make sure Minho couldn’t say no. Now that he’s accepted it, we don’t have to rush.”
As much as it bothered him not to finish a project.
You laughed at the little punch Minho threw at Chan’s shoulder on his way out of the room, mumbling something about “going to bed before Changbin comes home to beg for food”. He also made sure to pinch your cheek before leaving.
After swatting at Minho’s hand, you grinned.
“Okay, well… Let’s figure out how we’re going to do this.”
Chan mimicked your smile with a nod.
No way, Jisung thought as you followed his older friend out into the living room, no fucking way.
You just left him without an acknowledging glance his way, and all of a sudden he had a really terrible feeling about leaving you and Chan alone together. Anything could happen—kissing, fucking, god forbid you talk to him. You could become closer and gain feelings for the guy, which would not be a hard task considering Chan was basically the human embodiment of the sun and every damn person seemed to be pulled into his orbit after the first meeting.
Dammit, it was even difficult for Jisung to be mad at him. The guy was too lovable.
Cursing under his breath, Jisung all but ran into the living room to prevent any and all touching or deep talks, because heaven knew how much Chan talked about deep shit.
Ew, he sounded like Minho.
“You don’t have any notes at all?” Chan asked, eyebrows raised. “What do you even do in there?”
You let out a sigh.
“Stats is where I usually do my biology work.”
“Then what do you do in biology?” He questioned bluntly, his eyes skimming all the lost files on your computer that you had given up on ages ago.
“That’s where I write all my essays. The teacher—”
“—never stands up from his chair.”
With wide eyes, you laughed in surprise. Your mouth formed many words but nothing stumbled out, perhaps for a good reason because what you had in your head wasn’t very coherent on its own.
So you just pointed at the snickering Chan, “You…?”
His head shook and your mood dropped.
“I don’t do work for other classes,” he corrected, the mischievous smile slowly sliding onto his lips giving you a little hope back. “I actually produced a whole song in that class.”
Was Jisung dreaming or were you looking at Chan with those big bewildered eyes? Was that what was happening right in front of him? Could he be seeing things?
For once he really hoped he was going insane.
“I knew I wasn’t the only one that slacked off in that class!” You chirped, bouncing a little in your seat.
“And I still got a one-hundred on my exam.” He told you pointedly before passing on the laptop and leaning back on the couch.
Normally, smugness wouldn’t have been attractive to you but on Chan it was something else. His eyes lit up in a way that was almost pretty.
There was a pull towards him as he just sat there and looked at you. It was something that set you on edge in the same way it put you at ease, he just had such a conflicting presence and you really didn’t know how to process it. So your body pushed you forward on it’s own, and with no complaints from him, you felt your hand come to rest on his knee—
But out of the fucking blue, Jisung was throwing himself between you two, his thinner body fitting snuggly in the unfilled space. You sputtered and Chan nearly yelped, holding his hand to his chest to placate his thudding heart.
“Jisung—what the fuck?”
“Did you just jump over the back of the couch?” Chan frowned looking over his shoulder to really determine the path Jisung took to get there.
Jisung smiled obnoxiously, “I just figured I’d help you guys out. Considering I’m also in that class.” He wiggles a little more to separate the two of you even more. “And three brains are better than two.”
“Not when yours is nonexistent.” You quipped, feeling your lips pull into a pout at the intruder.
“Ah, how I love your humor.”
Jisung poked your nose with a tight lipped smile.
Sending Chan a look of apology, he shrugged, falling back further into the couch.
“Sure, why not?” Was his response, shoulders lifting up and falling back down with a huff. “Let me help you set up some proper notes.”
Jisung brought his hands together once to create a near deafening sound that had you even more irritable. His happy-go-lucky mood wasn’t funny when you were on the receiving end of the annoyance.
One nice thing—you couldn’t have one single nice thing ever.
Between your brother and his dumb best friend (that you may or may not have sorta feelings for) you couldn’t do anything. Your prime years were being wasted on sucky romance movies with Felix and Hyunjin and cat fights with Jisung. You couldn’t afford such bullshit for much longer.
“You know I love you, Y/n.”
“Stuff your love up your ass.”
Tumblr media
The rest of the week passed by smoothly with minimal conflict on your end and grades that didn’t have you contemplating slamming your face into a wall. On weekends you usually spent most of your time at Minho’s apartment while Changbin dicked around at the gym and your brother slept for the forty-eight hours that he had to himself. You could watch movies and finish your homework with no distractions.
That was until Chan decided to move in and steal your attention every moment he could. You were even starting to suspect that he was doing it on purpose after the time he walked out of the bathroom in only a bath towel and responded with a “oh, I didn’t notice you there”.
You also concluded that Felix was a snitch and no longer deserved your friendship, because once you shared with him your encounter with Chan, everyone in your group of friends was wired in to everything that concerned you and Chan.
Especially Jisung. Which eventually caused—
“Jisung why the hell are you following me?”
The boy in question didn’t bother to acknowledge you, instead he simply continued to walk at your side, hands stuffed deep in his pockets and hair just a little messier than usual, “What do you mean? This is how I get to my next class.”
You snorted. “Last time I checked, you had dropped your two-thirty class. And even then, it was on the other side of the building.”
Jisung couldn’t help but roll his pretty brown eyes.
“Stalker…”
“Says the guy who’s been up my ass all day.” You chirped, taking pride in the way he glared at you.
Jisung threw his hands up in frustration. He knew what he was doing was out of character, sure. But did he want to be called out on it?
“Can I not hang out with you? God, Y/n. We’ve known each other for years, I’d think you’d get used to me being around.”
You merely shook your head with a laugh, continuing forward.
“You’re really something else.”
He snorted, “So you’re being an adult now?”
“When am I not the adult when I’m with you? There’s no room for stupid energy with you around.” You replied cheekily
“Well I’m sorry for hogging all the ‘stupid energy’, damn…”
The way that Jisung held up the air quotes for “stupid energy” had your cheeks aching from how hard you smiled.
“Well, I’m going to lunch with Felix and Hyunjin right now. So unless you want to be subjected to their combined stupidity, I would suggest you go back to your dorm.” You sent him a small smile over your shoulder, just barely missing the way he tripped over his feet because of it.
Felix had called you in a rush right as you were getting out of your last class of the day and asked you to come eat lunch with him and Hyunjin. It was a one sided conversation that lasted almost ten seconds but you figured you had no other choice but to comply. Whatever reason he had for being in such a hurry was enough for you to listen.
“But you can come if you want, Sungie. I’m sure they won’t mind.”
Sungie.
It had been a while since you last called him that nickname—possibly way back when you were in primary school. It sent chills down his spine to hear you call him that again.
Jisung caught up to you easily, slinging his arm around your shoulders just as he used to when you began calling him Sungie. Over the years it had started to put a strain on him since he found it hard to differentiate what was friendly and what was too friendly. He had a girlfriend after all, and there were only so many things he could do with other girls that was acceptable.
But of course you were just Y/n. The little sister that bothered them all day and called him Sungie.
He didn’t have to feel embarrassed to hug you or tease you or hide his insecurities behind stupid pick up lines. Now matter how much it made his heart pound in his chest, you were still Minho’s baby sister—you were Jisung’s baby sister.
“I’d like that, my dear.” Jisung said, stuffing his free hand into his pocket and pulling you closer.
So close that it almost felt domestic.
Y’know, as domestic as it could get with someone who was like a little sister to him. He had a beautiful girlfriend too, so the domestication was more like a… family comfort and less like how it would feel if you were married and he was allowed to hold you as close as he wanted—
“Ah, you’re warm,” you hummed, making a small fuss of tucking yourself further into his hold. “It always looks like it’s going to be nice outside, but it seems like the weather changes its mind just as much as Hyunjin.”
You didn’t notice but Jisung was completely lost to everything you said after “you’re warm”. He just continued to hum and nod as if his brain wasn’t completely fried.
Jisung was in the midst of a mental breakdown when you somehow managed to lead him to the small restaurant right outside of the university. It was a popular place since it was so close and dolled out cheap food in a matter of seconds, which definitely appealed to its main demographic.
You spotted Felix’s head of purple hair immediately, a bright smile etched onto his face as he spoke animatedly to the waiter standing at the ready. The boy was cute, black hair and pretty dimples that made him appear younger. He also looked friendly with Felix with how he spoke with a wide smile that showed his perfect teeth.
You approached the table, shrugging Jisung’s arm off of you and ignoring his whine in protest.
“I made it,” you announced, gaining the attention of your friends—
And fuck.
You met eyes with Seungmin sitting in the seat beside Felix, and felt your shoulders slump as he flashed you a smirk.
“Glad you could come, Y/n.” Seungmin all but sang at your visible distress.
But Felix had a hold on your arm before you could respond with attitude, tugging you dangerously close to the waiter at your side.
“Y/n, this is Jeongin—” Felix gestured towards the boy who lifted his hand to wave. “He’s a school friend of Hyunjin’s.”
“It’s my last year.” Jeongin added with a shy laugh.
Peeling your eyes away from Seungmin, you got a good look at the boy in front of you. The unexpected cuteness both startled you and made your stomach flip. You really had to withhold from squealing and pinching his cheeks. He was so cute.
You smiled genuinely, “It’s nice to meet you, Jeonginnie.”
A small wave of red covered his ears at the sudden nickname, his long eyelashes fluttering in surprise.
Jisung just about combusted in his spot. He was getting pretty sick and tired of keeping tabs on all the boys you managed to hook around your finger, it was starting to get out of hand. Okay, maybe he was the stalker.
In a bout of frustration, Jisung grabbed your hand and interlaced your fingers, sliding into the booth beside Hyunjin and tugging you after him. You made a noise of surprise as your ass connected harshly with the cracked red cushion of the booth, sending Jisung a glare.
Though, he kept his eyes on the table, avoiding the amused looks on everyone’s faces, even going as far as swatting away Hyunjin’s poking fingers. But for whatever reason, he couldn’t bring himself to release your hand from his.
Jisung’s palm was sweaty in your hold, but strangely enough it was something that you didn’t mind.
Jeongin looked between you and Jisung for a moment before quickly coming to some sort of realization that only Felix seemed to understand. His mouth formed an ‘o’ shape and a small smirk was suddenly on his lips as he asked what drink you would like.
Whatever that was about, you didn’t like it.
“I’ll just have a water.” You answered skeptically, finally managing to pull your fingers free of Jisung’s grip.
“Water for me too.”
Jeongin didn’t bother to write down your orders, instead he just nodded and left with that same goofy smile on his face.
Why did your friends have to corrupt the poor kid?
You sent a glare towards Felix, ready to grill him about what the hell just happened but his eyes were on something else above your head, his lips forming into the same smirk that Jeongin had on. Whatever what’s either above you or behind you was either a stupid compilation video of League of Legend funny moments or your next victim.
“Care for one more?” Came from behind you.
And both your and Jisung’s heads swiveled around at a dangerous speed to see the beautiful image of Chan, and damn was he beautiful. He was dressed for the weather, arms now covered in a long black sweater that hugged every one of his muscles so so nicely, and instead of sweatpants, he was wearing jeans. You could definitely tell the difference between a casual day around the house and one where he was going to be seen out in public—was that makeup?
And Jisung frowned. It had been going so well.
It was his turn to send Felix a glare.
The purple haired boy mouthed something along the lines of “girlfriend”, but Jisung couldn’t (could) really make it out.
“Sit down.” You managed to choke out, motioning toward the table.
“Hey!” Felix greeted, standing up to fully embrace Chan in a hug.
You were floored.
“You know each other?”
Felix’s eyes flickered towards you, “We both grew up in Sydney.”
And you thought your eyes were going to pop out of your skull.
“You’re Australian?” You gaped, watching Chan as if he had sprouted a new head.
He then proceeded to spout off some heavily accented words that you could barely make sense of, and you could feel your heart practically flutter in your chest. After meeting Felix, you never thought you’d ever find an Australian accident sexy as hell—but Chan’s was, in fact, very sexy as hell.
“Wow,” Hyunjin whistled. “What does it take for one to become Australian, because fuck.”
You didn’t think you would ever agree with Hyunjin so much in your life.
Chan snorted. “I think you have to be born in Australia unfortunately.”
“Or you know,” Felix tossed sarcastically. “Live there.”
“Damn. Always the catch.”
You sighed, almost going as far as face-palming yourself and/or slamming your forehead against the table.
Instead you just sent Chan an embarrassed smile. “You can sit down if you aren’t planning on running away.”
“Thanks.” He laughed.
Unfortunately for you, there were already three people in your booth and he wouldn’t be able to fit beside you.
Fortunately for Jisung, there were already three people in your booth and Chan wouldn’t be able to fit beside you.
But when Chan began to slide in the seat next to Felix, Hyunjin suddenly jumped with a yelp, glaring at the suspicious looking Felix in front of him. The two had a very strange conversation with their eyes before Hyunjin was huffing a sigh and maneuvering himself to slip under the booth and (clumsily, you may add) pop out on the other side of Seungmin, ignoring the spectacled boys' complaints as he sends Chan a smile.
Stupid plotting assholes.
“Just wanted to sit next to my… uh—”
“Boyfriend?” You supplied, blinking at him dully.
“Yeah, my boy—hey, fuck you!”
“Sorry, were you waiting to tell people?”
He took the liberty to be the kicker instead of the kickee and sent his foot into your ankle, making you hiss with a glare.
Felix nudged Chan’s hip to direct him into the spot beside you, his mouth open in a wide smile as you are further squished between both Jisung and Chan. With one boy being very broad and the other being very clingy, you barely had any room at all.
“Y/n, you look a little cramped, why don’t you scoot over here a little more—?”
“Jisung, if I get any closer to you, I would be on top of you.”
Hey, he wasn’t completely opposed to that plan.
Jisung certainly would rather have you on his lap than Chan’s. He couldn’t even think about that without grasping for your hand again, though you were too fast and managed to wiggle out of his grip.
“Yeah, Y/n. Why don’t you just scoot over?” Hyunjin sang, his mouth curled up in a coy little smirk that he always had carved onto his face.
“You scheming little—”
But your words were cut off by the clearing of a throat.
Seungmin leaned over the table, and the way his sleeves were rolled to his forearms was suddenly very noticeable. He looked at you with the intention to kill, and had he not been a prudish reincarnation of the devil, you would’ve thought he looked hot as fuck.
“Do you want me to retell the little incident that took place at last year’s Christmas party?”
A collective gasp went around the table, Chan being the only one who was absolutely clueless.
Felix whispered something under his breath about how “that was sworn to secrecy”, and Hyunjin’s wide eyes stuck to the side of Seungmin’s face like glue.
Even Jisung broke out of his jealous stupor to gulp.
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“I would.”
That was the true form of Kim Seungmin.
“What? Do dinners like this happen all the time?” Chan asked. “Do you ever actually eat?”
As if on queue, Jeongin stepped up to the table, notepad in hand and wide eyes sparkling. “Are you guys ready to order—?”
But Felix was dragging the boy down to his height, whispering something quickly into his ear, causing his eyes to widen. After enlarging, his gaze flickered back and forth between you, Jisung and Chan.
“I… will give you guys a few more minutes.”
Jeongin scurried off and you wanted to kill everyone at the table.
“Well, I’m going to answer my own question here and say no. There will be no eating food today.” Chan hummed, tossing his menu onto the table similarly to a petulant child.
You huffed. What did you ever do to deserve any of this?
With both boys at either side of you, it seemed to create a visual representation of the conflict in your mind. And Seungmin looked like he was ready to pass out with how hard he was trying to hold in his laughter as Felix and Hyunjin simply smiled your way.
To say that the two boys were completely clueless, would’ve been an understatement—
With Chan too busy thinking about all the food he wouldn’t be eating and Jisung preoccupied trying to grab ahold of your hand, they didn’t once notice the way that the three little devils stared holes into their heads.
“I literally can’t stand any of you.”

I left the dark academia community for a week and now I have serious imposter syndrome like...
I worked at a program (Girls State) for a week and had a really bad situation that I handled extremely maturely, I kept calm and made sure the staff person was reported and the delegates were supported. I'm only 19 but I handled that situation like a 30-40 year old with tons of experience. (am I really the same person who didn't know the two arches in the mcdonalds sign was an M for half my life?)
I'm in a healthy romantic relationship
I have healthy friendships
2+3= no longer super lonely
I got an average and uninteresting job ??? and I'm totally okay with that ???
I no longer feel the need to be online all the time (seriously WHAT happened to me)
so like... I feel like I don't belong in the dark academia community anymore because I got my life together 😭
and now I feel like I'm bragging, but I'm saying all this so people know that it DOES get better. I thought I didn't deserve happiness and now somehow I have it? I hope this comes off as encouraging. but if you're in a rough place, I promise that it will get better. time has a way of healing things. hang in there because YOU deserve it. you deserve the good things coming to you

Weirdly enough, I often find myself reading less in the summer, since I have more time than I do during the rest of the year to do other things. Also artfight has been eating up more than a bit of my free time! But here’s a collection a graphic novels I sat around on the hammock reading, and some novels I finished up...
(Everyone go read All Systems Red, holy crow guys)
Tumblr media
A Whale of the Wild
The “sequel” to A Wolf Called Wander, though it doesn’t actually connect to the previous novel except in the stylistic/thematic sense. A Whale of the Wild is very much a standalone novel. And a pretty decent one! Personally, I think I liked Wolf more, but this one was a pleasant, informative read, with just the right amount of crushing dread sprinkled in. It’s about a young orca called Vega who is learning to become a new wayfinder for her pod but who still has a lot to learn, especially in an ocean that is becoming increasingly hostile to orcas and the other sealife that live alongside humans. When a devastating earthquake hits, Vega and her little brother find themselves separated from their family, lost in a now horrifyingly unfamiliar environment, and fighting starvation as the salmon that sustain them become more and more unreliable. It’s a desperate fight for survival as they search for food and their missing family. This book is written for a middle grade level, and does a really good job of putting the current environmental crisis into an animal’s perspective while giving the readers something to hope for.
Tumblr media
The Adventure Zone: The Crystal Kingdom
Every July I eagerly anticipate the next Adventure Zone graphic novel. This one is for their fourth arc, The Crystal Kingdom, in which Magnus, Taako, and Merle respond to a SOS from a floating laboratory that is gradually being consumed by crystals and which threatens the entire world should it fall into the ocean. Carey Pietsch’s art continues to be absolutely fantastic, so beautifully and hilariously expressive, and this one delivers some great Merle moments, lots of Carey Fangbattle, and, of course, Kravtiz. Kravitz, my beloved…
Anyway, I obviously always recommend these. If you’ve never gotten into The Adventure Zone, I totally recommend either trying these graphic novels — or even better, just go listen to the podcast because it really is both hilarious and creates a shockingly good and heart-wrenching story by the end.
Tumblr media
All Systems Red
I’ve seen The Murderbot Diaries on my dash occasionally, and it always looked interesting, but a friend’s recommendation finally compelled me to read the first novella of the series. And holy shit y’all. Absolutely the best book I’ve read this month, it’s amazing. Mind-blowingly good. Also, if you’re like me and want a good audiobook, it’s a nice three-hour listen, very chill!
Anyway, All Systems Red is about a Security Unit, an artificially created being that’s part-organic part-mechanical and all-company-owned-and-controlled. However, self-named “Murderbot” has managed to hack into the system that suppresses its own will, and is now coasting along, doing the least amount of work its job requires not to be noticed, while preferring to spend all its time watching the hours and hours of soap operas it has downloaded into its brain. And it’s a tolerable if somewhat dull life, until the science team that it's currently rented to is attacked and the whole mission goes pear-shaped. Suddenly Murderbot has to scramble to keep its humans alive… while its humans scramble with the realization that their “SecUnit” isn’t actually a mindless robot like they had all believed...
This story is both gripping and hilariously funny. Murderbot has such a unique voice and perspective and it’s an absolute pleasure to follow its story. I reallly need to read the next book...
Tumblr media
Asterix and the Banquet
A classic. I was startled when I realized I hadn’t actually read this Asterix story… but hell I’m not gonna complain, it lets me read one of the originals for the first time again! In this Asterix volume, the Indomitable Gauls and the Romans end up arranging a bet — the Romans intend to keep them under siege, trapped in their village, while Asterix is confident that he can easily evade them… and will prove it by going on a tour around all of Gaul, collecting iconic foods from each region in order to return and put on a fine banquet. So we get a fantastic adventure in which Asterix and Obelix run all over the country, pursued the whole way, while making cheerful stops at the various eateries along the way. Also the first book Dogmatix shows up in! All around, a wonderful read, fun like all the best Asterix comics are.
Tumblr media
Beauty Pop v4
A less impressive graphic novel. The first Beauty Pop is one of my guilty pleasure manga because… it really is pretty stupid but in the best possible ways. I mean, the whole thing is framed around hairstyling battles, like a shojo sports manga without the sports. It’s bonkers. Unfortunately, the series does not really manage to hold up, and it really begins to feel repetitive and dragging as it continues… as a lot of series like this do. *shrug* Unsurprising but still kinda disappointing I suppose. The building three-way romantic tension is mildly interesting if for no other reason than the main character Does Not Notice and Does Not Care about any of it, which is amusing and refreshing.
Tumblr media
FRNCK v5
Now this series only gets better and better as it goes. This is the first book of the second arc, and somehow the danger just seems to be ramping up and up and up. The cavefamily have lost their home… as well as Léonard and Gargouille. Heartbroken, shocked, and angry, Franck is the one who ends up shouldering the blame for their presumed deaths as the others mourn. Things only get worse when Franck finds himself separated from the family, and in the territory of another tribe, this one hostile and cannibalistic...
Tumblr media
Haikyuu v5
I continue to read this series because it continues to be charming… though it is beginning to feel, maybe, just a little repetitive. Kind of an inevitability with sports manga. But so far it continues to be good enough to overcome that. I’m not sure what I can say about this series that I haven’t already, so I’ll simply say it continues to be one of the most impressive sports manga I’ve read, and the author does a fantastic job of creating engaging characters, fleshed out teams, and really compelling relationships. I do genuinely adore all the main members of Crows, along with a number of characters from the rival teams as well. And of course it has some kickass volleyball scenes that are just drawn so dramatically they can’t help but take your breath away a little.
Tumblr media
M*A*S*H Goes To Maine
Meh. The original book of the series was actually quite good in my opinion. This one… considerably less so. The first part I enjoyed more, since it was about Hawkeye, Trapper, Duke, and Oliver Jones trying to set up the FinestKind Clinic and Fishmarket in Crabapple Cove (which… is just the best premise I could have ever asked for). However, the book spends most of its time describing the quirky lives and times of other people living in the area and I… just… don’t care. It was funny at times but… I just don’t care. I wanted to hear more about the main cast. Also I found this book felt more racist and misogynistic than the first which also put me off :/ Wouldn’t bother if I were you. Go read the first book instead, or better yet just watch the TV show which is an obvious banger.
Tumblr media
My Heart’s in the Highlands
I have had this on my “currently reading” list for so long but I’m officially giving up. It’s a really good book in theory but my god I can’t get over the pacing.
It’s about Lady Jane, a woman studying medicine in Edinburgh in 1888, and who suddenly finds herself back in the Highlands in the 13th century. Lost and confused, Jane is now at the mercy Clan Donald’s hospitality while she tries to adjust to this new world and hunts for her broken time machine. Fortunately, this hospitality include a burgeoning friendship with a red-haired warrior woman, Ainslie nic Dòmhnaill, who opens Jane’s eyes to the way the world could be.
Listen. It drives me nuts. This book should be completely up my alley, it has everything I like — IT HAS ALL OF ITS HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES CITED AT THE BACK, LITTLE EXTRA DETAILS ABOUT EVERY CHAPTER. THAT’S MY SHIT RIGHT THERE. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LIKE BEING ABLE TO GO OVER HISTORICAL DETAILS?? AND WELL RESEARCHED FOOTNOTES?? And yet it doesn’t. Fucking. Work for me. It has a kickass Scottish warrior lady as a love interest! It has a badass lady doctor! It has fish-out-of-water culture shock! But it also has a completely meandering plot, no sense of building tension, and a romance that just happens out of nowhere and feels completely unearned and uninteresting.
I would genuinely just rather read Outlander again, which I know has its own host of problems, but at least Outlander felt exciting and interesting and tense and funny. The romance built in fits and starts, it was complicated, and kept me interested. That book had me hooked (and has me hooked every time I reread it) whereas this book I’ve been sadly picking at for months like its a plate of overcooked spinach. This felt like an attempt at a queer, historically accurate knockoff which I would normally be super into but which just could not stick the landing.
Tumblr media
Moomin on the Riviera
My first time actually reading anything from the Moomin canon. I have zero idea how to feel about it! It certainly is as feral as I’ve heard described! Overall, I think I enjoyed it but it sure made me feel strange emotions I didn’t know existed. I’m not even going to try to describe it. Read it if you want a batshit insane anti-capitalist comic.
Tumblr media
Surviving the City
This was good in some areas, less good in others. It had a very interesting indigenous perspective on life in the modern city, the foster system, and The Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women issue, which I’ve never seen handled in a book before. Something about the pacing did not completely click with me and I found myself getting easily distracted, but it’s definitely worth the read just to experience it and look at the issues it deals with through the characters’ (and author’s) eyes. It did give me a lot to think about and wrestle with, which is sometimes the best thing a book can give you.
Tumblr media
Torchwood: Pack Animals
A really fun read, more so than I had ever expected! If you like Torchwood and want more stories about the team before everything goes to shit, this is perfect for that. It includes the entire cast, an interest mystery to be unravelled, lots of slavering monsters, Rhys being really wonderful and sweet (which I didn’t know I wanted until I read this book), and all the humour I expect from Torchwood. I had to send a lot of quotes to my long-suffering girlfriend who a) does not watch this show but b) needs to tolerate it because I find it too funny to keep to myself. It was good enough to make me go out another book of the series since this was the only one my library carried.

Chapter Sixteen Point Five: More and More
“Yah-” You hear Yoongi call from the other room, the sound of his voice bringing a smile to your lips, “I’m getting cold.”
The latter part comes out as a whine and it broadens your smile as you sprits a bit of perfume onto your wrists.
“I’m sorrryyyy. This is the first time I’ve been able to do my bedtime routine at your house.” You point out, giggling as zip up your toiletries bag. “I’m coming right now.”
Quickly, you pad across the bit of tile between Yoongi’s bedroom and the bathroom before rounding the corner to peek at your boyfriend.
He’s cozied up beneath the covers, his arms tucked behind his head, brows furrowed as he focuses on the tv.  He’s drowning in the excess fabric of his hoodie and although he isn’t yet aware of your presence, he is still wearing the remnants of the smile that your laughter caused.
“You look cute.”
Yoongi jumps, his fingers tensing against the duvet as your presence alarms him.
“Aish- you scared me.” He pouts but as soon as he gets a look at what you’re wearing, his expression shifts, “Are you wearing pants?”
Giggling, you shake your head and turn slightly, lifting up your oversized t-shirt, “Nope.” And as you respond, you show off your ass to him.
He arches a brow, a smirk playing on his lips, “Oh ok- yeah that’s a good idea you know, pants are really restricting. You’ll be a lot more comfortable...”
“Oh you think so?” Tilting your head, you slowly make your way towards the bed whilst your fingers toy with the ends of your shirt, “Should I not wear the shirt then either? You know- if were talking about comfort here, I may as well just sleep naked.”
His smirk fully develops, his eyes following your every move, “You m-might get cold but, I mean I could just like- yah! Why do you insist on saying shit that you know is going to fluster me? Get your ass in bed.” He smacks the space beside him, brown eyes widening with incredulity.
At the end of his mini out burst, your head falls back against your shoulders with the much louder bit of laughter that leaves your lips.
Yoongi laughs along with you, his heart singing at the sound of your amusement, “Now!” He pushes out the command through his laughter, yanking the duvet back and jerking his chin towards the empty space.
Rather than tease him further, you scamper over to the bed and shimmy your way beneath the covers, immediately cuddling up into his side.
His warm and he smells like amber and the bonfire from earlier.
A hum comes from his chest as he pulls you close, kissing the top of your head.
“Thank you...be nice to me...”
His voice rumbles at the base of his throat; it shouldn’t have a taste but it lingers in the air and it suddenly makes you want to turn off all the lights and listen to him speak forever.
“I’m always nice...” You retort, peeking up at him in time to see his brow arch, “I am!”
His teeth peek out as he smiles, his arms tightening around you, “I wouldn’t necessarily say that you’re ALWAYS nice. You can be mean if you want to be.”
“Meeeaaan????? How am I mean?”
He flops against the pillow, kitten fangs on full display, his laughter dancing above the bed.
“You know exactly how you are mean, c’mon jagi, let’s be honest with each other.”
Pushing your fingers against his cheeks, you use his face as leverage to hoist yourself up over top of him, “Ohhhh are you talking about the edging and the pain play? The kinks my boyfriend most definitely possesses that I, being the loving girlfriend that I am, willingly fulfill?”
He blushes, “Yeah exactly...those things.”
You smush his cheeks together again, pecking the rounded tip of his nose, “Ok fine, we don’t have to do those things anymore, I’ve actually heard celibacy has it’s benefits.”
His face wrinkles in disgust as he jerks his head up to smush his lips against yours, “You’re so fucking funny you know that? You should do stand up.” He mumbles against your lips and although it’s a bit off topic, you can actually feel the difference between you and Yoongi.
He’s different now.
You don’t sense any hesitation anymore.
He is completely vulnerable and you love it.
The trust has increased tenfold.
“I’ll let my advisor know.” You retort, brows raising playfully, pecking against his lips
“AIYAAAAA....” He groans, smiling brightly, “Throwback.”
You feel butterflies in your stomach as you think of all the events leading up this particular moment.
Falling in love has been really fun.
“I still can’t believe I left your house like that, that night. I felt like such an idiot.”
You giggle, “I told Jimin about that the next day, I thought you hated me- I would have never guessed it was because I made you hard.”
He smirks, his cheeks reddening slightly, “I definitely didn’t hate you. I was just annoyed because, I was three months away from graduation and, I really wasn’t expecting to be bombarded with- you.”
“Bombarded?” You raise your brows, a smile lingering on your lips, “Is that how you remember falling in love?”
You feel his hands slide up the backs of your thighs before they settle on your hips as he shrugs, his expression unchanging, “Honestly yeah. I was very annoyed with it all for a long time. I knew I liked you but, I had already resigned to the fact that you wouldn’t like me back. I was also uninterested in getting into a relationship with anyone. Plus, I had to accept that I would have to keep seeing you because, we were paired up. To me, it just felt like another disappointment waiting to happen.”
At his admission, you pout and brush your thumb over his rosy cheek, “I’m sorry that you felt that way. I can understand why you did but, you and I definitely had different experiences...”
The slight disappointment in your tone isn’t intentional but, Yoongi’s keen observation skills pick up on it anyway. His beautiful features twitch slightly as he returns your pout, “I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy it, I was just stubborn...” His eyes flit over you, a flurry of emotions swirling within them, “What was it like for you?”
Rolling off of him, you position yourself comfortably at his side, feeling a bit of apprehension coming over you, “It was great- for me at least, I don’t know. It’s kind of silly honestly.”
Yoongi pushes himself up, tugging you with him so that both of you are propped up against the headboard. He uses his free hand to tilt your chin up towards him, “It’s not silly at all. I want to know.”
Suddenly, you feel very small underneath his gaze. It’s not in an uncomfortable way but, it’s certainly not something you’re used to. Thus far, you were used to being Yoongi’s safe space, his protector, his rock but, you were no stranger to insecurity either. Yoongi may view you as a confident woman, with a steady head on her shoulders and, he was right to do so.
You’ve overcome a lot.
The woman you are today has always been within you but her emergence is recent and, you’re fairly confident that Yoongi doesn’t know that.
“I didn’t think you liked me either. You are easily the hottest man I have ever seen in my entire life and, given the fact that I’ve been rejected so many times throughout my life, I kind of assumed that we would just be friends.  Most of the guys I’ve liked have only ever saw me that way. It became a running scenario in my head that I would grow old with a bunch of cats and, a bunch of really great friends but, I never really believed that I was the type of person someone would fall in love with. So when we had that conversation on the Ferris Wheel, I felt validated in a way. Here was this super attractive, interesting man who just admitted that he wanted to ‘kiss me everywhere’...I was elated. Even though I didn’t think things would go anywhere between us, I was still on cloud nine. Then we ended up kissing and then the night in your car- I guess this was a little more fairytale-like for me. I understand things were different for you though, especially after everything you’ve told me today.”
You’re not sure why this is suddenly making you so emotional but, you don’t force it away.
Yoongi did say he wanted to know everything about you and, conversations like these aren’t exactly something you plan.
He has been watching you intently during your explanation and during certain parts, you could feel his grip tightening on you slightly.
By the time you’re done, he sighs and shakes his head, “I’m sorry.”
“Why?” You cock your head, draping an arm across his stomach
“I’m sorry you ever had to face rejection or that you ever had to feel like you wouldn’t receive the type of love you deserve.” He runs a hand through his hair, “I’m also realizing that the way I described falling in love with you was fucking stupid and, I made it sound like it was this painful and frustrating process. Why do you even put up with me when I’m literally an idiot??”
The tension in your face starts to melt away and you start giggling by the end of his sentence, burrowing your face against his chest.
He throws an incredulous look your way, tilting his head in different directions to try and shove his face towards yours, “Hm?? Tell me huh? Why do you put up with me???” He demands, tickling at your sides, his own smiling appearing at the sound of your laughter, “Yah! Laughter tells me nothing! How did someone so intelligent and beautiful settle down with me???”
His tickling should force you away from him but, you curl into him more, still giggling as you try and grab at his hand.
“You’re not an idiot!”
He stops his motions, tilting your chin up towards him again, his eyes still playful but sincere, “I am though. I just described the best months of my life as annoying. I used the words uninterested and disappointed, that’s something only an idiot would do.”
“Don’t forget ‘bombarded’...” You point out, smirking slightly as you rest your chin on his finger.
“Yahhh see?” He shakes his head, leaning down towards your lips, “Pabo...”
You kiss him, letting yourself linger there for a moment before pulling away, “Have they really been the best months of your life?”
At your question, Yoongi smiles softly, “Of course they have. I didn’t mean that falling in love with you hasn't been magical. It has. I just meant that initially, I was so resistant because I was afraid of getting hurt. I should have said it like that, instead of being an asshole about it.”
“You weren’t being an asshole.” You counter
“I was though.  You are the most important in the world to me and, I need to stop coating all of my emotions for you in 50 layers of irony just because, I have a fear of being vulnerable. You’re my everything- the love of my life and, I’m so grateful for you. I know that you don’t need me, I know you are complete without me and that you’ve overcome so much on your own but, I need you to know  that you can always count on me and that I feel everything you feel. I’m sorry if I ever made you think any different, even if it’s unintentional or even if you like my sarcasm or whatever, it’s still no excuse to continuously avoid telling you how I truly feel. Especially not after everything you’ve done for me.”
You’re a little captivated by his words and, you don’t speak just yet but you allow a smile to say what words cannot as he speaks again.
“I want to take care of you too. I want you to feel safe with me. Sometimes I feel like our relationship has been very one-sided in terms of you always making time for my feelings and, I don’t want that. I’ve just spent so much time admiring your outlook on life that I didn’t take enough time to consider where it came from. You are always working so hard to take care of everyone around you and, I feel like it’s because you might not have always felt taken care of yourself. I hope you know that you never have to feel that way with me, I’m here for you and- sorry I’m not even making sense anymore.” His rickety laughter makes an appearance as your smile widens, “I just really love you like- fuck...”
You burst out into a fit of giggles and practically tackle him as you hop on his lap again, pulling him in for a kiss, “You’re literally the sweetest man alive and the only thing ironic about you as the fact that you constantly wonder whether or not you are in fact, a good person or a good boyfriend. You are both and I really really really really love you too.”
His gums peek. out at your sudden outburst, his smile adding 10 years to your life whilst his hands grip your hips, “I love you...” He repeats again, “I’m sorry we’ve had several conversations like this, there’s just a lot to work through I guess and, I feel like I don’t ever say enough or say the right things...”
“Don’t apologize. You’re completely right. We are both trying to navigate through some pretty intense shit. I’m glad we can have these conversations; it means that we are continuing to learn how to communicate with one another.” You assure him, kissing the tip of his nose.
“That’s a good point. You make a lot of good points.” He notes playfully, kissing your cheek this time, nibbling there, relishing in the sound of your laughter once again. “I know we’ve said it a dozen times now but, I love you...”
“I love you too.” You murmur before wrapping your arms around him.
After a rather sporadic and emotional conversation, you and Yoongi decide to put on a comedy special to lift the bit of heaviness from the atmosphere. You really wanted to enjoy each other’s company before the stressful few days ahead.
You knew it wasn’t going to be easy for him to go back to his hometown and, you also knew that it would be nerve wracking for you for a myriad of reasons.
Either way, you’d endure it together and meet the conflicts as they came.
Right now however, your mind is occupied with a completely different objective.
You’d been laying on Yoongi’s chest for the last hour or so whilst he rubbed tenderly along your back.
He traced your spine, gently pinched at the base of your neck and occasionally massaged at your scalp.
Altogether, you felt content, fuzzy, on the edge of arousal but not quite that there yet.
You’re touching him too now, your hand was resting on his stomach but you’ve started rubbing at his side, slowing and softly dragging your nails over his hoodie.
The thing is, you had been getting to each other for some time now but, there was no reason to rush into anything more.
You just wanted to touch each other, simple as that.
Your hand moves to the bottom of his hoodie, tracing the stitching before slipping underneath it.
As soon as you do, Yoongi’s hand stalls on your back as he sighs.
“Why do you have to go there?”
His tone is playful and accusatory and it causes you to giggle.
“I’m not going anywhereeeee.” You insist, tickling your fingers over his lower abdomen
“Y-yah jagiyaaa- you know what that does to me.”
His voice stutters a bit whilst you continue your motions, tickling back and forth above the band of his boxers, admiring how soft his skin is.
“Do you want me to stop?”
He smirks to himself, resuming his touch against your back, “No- but if you plan on getting me hard, you should probably come up here and start kissing me.”
You smirk too now, pushing up his hoodie to allow you better access to the rest of his stomach, admiring the goosebumps that start appearing on his skin.
“Maybe I wanna watch you get hard...”
You hear him sigh again, his chest heaving with the sound.
“Fuck, ok.” He chuckles to himself, “Fair enough.”
Sure enough, you get to watch the show you desperately wanted to see because, as you trace over the band of his boxers, his dick jumps to life beneath the cotton.
A satisfied grin plays on your lips and you take the opportunity tickle just beneath his belly button, prompting another bout of twitching from his dick.
“You know...” You murmur casually, continuing your teasing, “You’ve still never came in my mouth before.”
You feel the bluntness of his nails press into the skin of your back at your comment, another unstable sigh coming from him once again, “I haven’t.”
Slowly you sit up, finally turning to face him, resting your hand on his stomach.
You smirk down at him, his head pushed back into the pillow, a smile playing on his lips.
“Can we change that?”
He’s going all shy at the thought of being in your mouth again and he can’t figure out why.
You notice the blush on his cheeks and the timid gummy smile on his lips and, you decide to call him out on it.
“Why do you look so nervous??” You giggle, pinching his cheek
A bout of laughter bubbles past his lips like a bottle of soda that’s been shaken too much as he attempts to answer you.
“I don’t know!” He buries his face into the side of your arm, “It’s embarrassing...”
Fondness blooms in your chest and you immediately lay back down with him, pulling the covers over the two of you.
You wrestle around a bit, tucking yourself against him once more, the two of you giggling like two kids at a sleepover.
Yoongi kisses the side of your face, his own hot with arousal and embarrassment.
“Baby, you’ve literally let me tie you to the headboard...”
“Mm, I sure have...that was a good night.” His voice is deeper now as he starts kissing down your neck, “a really good night.”
“Do you not like it?”
He smirks against your neck, sucking lightly at the spot below your earlobe, sending a wave of arousal between your legs, “Are you really asking me whether or not I like getting my dick sucked?”
“WEeellll.” You laugh, relishing in the way his attention feels, slowly getting distracted by his lips on your skin, “You never let me do it for you. I’m just trying to understand why.”
Before he can answer, a screeching voice comes from the other room, “HYUNG-AHHH!!”
Yoongi’s eyes widen in alarm as he immediately maneuvers his way out of the covers and rushes out the door, tugging his hoodie down in an attempt to conceal his hardened length beneath his boxers.
“What, What’s wrong?! Where are you?”
You’re following after him frantically, your heart pounding wildly in your chest. Yoongi’s shouting in Korean and you’re trying your best to follow him up the stairs without tripping over your own feet.
“Here! Oh god, please hurry!”
Yoongi’s playing a thousand horrible scenarios in his head, trying desperately to locate Hoseok before he spots the light on in the hallway bathroom, “What’s wrong? Did you fall? Are you hurt???”
You can’t understand Yoongi but, his tone tells you everything you need to know: he’s terrified.
“There! Hyung oh my god, do you see it? It’s so big and hairy! Kill it please, I’m gonna throw up!”
Hoseok is rushing out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his hips and pure panic on his face.
Yoongi’s expression shifts from terrified to utterly disgusted in record time as he backhands Hoseok across the bicep, “YAH! What is wrong with you huh?! You made me think you snapped your neck up here or something! Are you seriously screaming over a spider right now? You’re 26 years old.”
Hoseok seems unphased by Yoongi’s words and points frantically at the bathroom, “Hyung I don’t care, just please kill it. You know how much I hate bugs, I almost had a heart attack.”
Yoongi is actively trying to conceal whatever seems to be transpiring but, the curiosity gets the better of you and you rush over to look in the direction Hoseok is pointing only to be met with the grossest, hairiest, BIGGEST spider you’ve ever seen.
“Yoongiiiii.” You whine, hiding behind him, your heartrate doing the impossible and increasing in your chest, “Oh my god, please get rid of it...”
Yoongi groans audibly, shaking his head at Hoseok, “You idiot, she’s terrified of spiders. We were literally about to- fuck nevermind just stay right here, I’ll go get a jar.”
He turns around, chuckling slightly at the almost childlike expression on your face, “I’m gonna get don’t worry. Do you want to come downstairs with me while I get a jar for it?”
Wide eyed, you grab his hands haphazardly, “Mhm...”
“Ok...” He leans down to peck your cheek, smirking fondly “Let’s go.”
“Yah what about me huh? What am I supposed to do?!” Hoseok returns to English now, eyeballing the bathroom in horror
Yoongi rolls his eyes, “Just stay there and try and summon some dignity. I’ll be right back.”
Hoseok scoffs and leans against the wall, “I have enough already thanks-” He insists before his eyes widen again, “Hyung please hurry it’s moving!!!!!”
Yoongi chuckles and shakes his head, interlocking his fingers with yours as he leads the two of you downstairs.
The two of you are back in a flash and you quickly take your place behind Hoseok as your boyfriend completes the task of scooping the spider into the jar and rushing it outside.
As he trudges back up the stairs he extends his hand out to you, which you eagerly accept.
Hoseok had already calmed down by this point and was attempting to make smooth small talk with you as if his (justified) outburst had never happened.
“Well uh” Hoseok laughs, throwing finger guns towards the bathroom, “Thanks hyung, so sorry to interrupt the lovemaking, I’m just gonnnnaaa head into the shower now-”
“Ah- no you aren’t. You’re going to apologize to my girlfriend for scaring the shit out of her and then you’re going to promise me that you’ll never scream for me like that again unless you are in mortal danger.” Yoongi shoots him a pointed look but there is still a bit of softness in his eyes and a smile threatening his lips.
“I’m so sorry Y/N, I had no idea you had a phobia of spiders.  That was definitely my bad. And hyung,” He shoots a brilliant smile in his direction, throwing up a finger heart, “I love youuuuuuu. Thanks for saving my life.”
“Don't be sorry; I literally would have done the same thing.” You vow, giggling nervously, furthering retreating into Yoongi’s side.
Yoongi snorts, wrapping an arm around you and sending Hoseok on his way before he gently pinches your side, “Are you ok?”
“Absolutely not.” You affirm, “But, I will heal as time goes on...”
He snickers, shaking his head whilst he leads you back downstairs.
“I swear he almost gave me a heart attack.” He shakes his head, placing his free hand on his chest, “Feel- it’s still beating so fast...”
You push your head against his chest, causing him to laugh again, not expecting the method you chose but he allows it none the less.
His chest is thrumming with the evidence of commotion still and you turn your head quickly to press a kiss to his chest.
“Me too- look...”
As the two of you come back into his room, you guide his hand to your chest in order to demonstrate your fast paced heartbeat.
Yoongi shakes his head, “I’m sorry about him, he’s ridiculous.”
You nod, glancing down at Yoongi’s boxers which no longer display the evidence of his arousal and, you whine, keeping his hand in place on your chest.
“You’re not hard anymoreeeee.” You complain, slumping against the wall near the bathroom. Yoongi laughs, his gums peeking out whilst you guide his hand over your breast, “Squeeze-” You giggle, indulging in your immaturity for a moment, “We’ll bring it back...”
He laughs harder, his beautiful face wrinkling in amusement as he obliges, squeezing your breast.
“Are you hard yet???” You ask through your laughter, tugging him closer to you, tilting your head towards his lips.
“Oh yeah-” He nods to his dick, still laughing, “Rock solid...”
He kisses you then, keeping his hand in place as he smiles into your lips.
The giggling between the two of you slowly fades as Yoongi tucks his mouth betwixt your own. He kisses you tenderly, his free hand curving around your waist and securing you to him. The hand on your breast massages you gently for a moment before he feels around for your nipple. Once he locates it, he begins teasing it between his thumb and his forefinger, smirking into your mouth when you sigh at the sensation. The two of you press further into one another, getting lost in the moment before you decide to resume your earlier mission.
“Can I pleaaaase make you cum in my mouth now?” You murmur against his lips, giggling when he blushes again, attempting to hide his face in your neck. “Babyyyyy what is it? Why are you hiding?”
His arms wrap around your waist now, sandwiched between your body and the wall. He shakes his head, pressing kisses into the crook of your neck whilst he tries to figure out the best way to answer your question.
“Nervous.” He mumbles and you can feel him smirk into your skin.
Your heart is exploding with adoration at how fucking cute your boyfriend can be literally out of nowhere.
His duality gives you whiplash sometimes.
“Why are you nervous?”
His grip tightens on you as you attempt to coax his face out of your neck, snickering when you try to pinch his cheek.
“I’m gonna cum too fast.” He confesses, finally pulling away to make eye contact with you, his black hair disheveled atop his head.
You giggle, smoothing out his messy onyx tendrils before bringing his lips down to yours.
“So what?” You murmur against them, “It doesn’t matter how quickly you cum, I just want to make you feel good...”
Yoongi feels a sharp pang of arousal in the pit of his stomach at the sultry tone of your voice, his dick twitching to life between his legs.
“I just feel like you don’t get anything out of it though...I want you to feel good too.” He protests, sighing out through his nose when you slip your hand beneath his hoodie.
You smirk, tickling over his sensitive skin, “Do you really think I don’t get anything out of having you in my mouth?”
Peppering kisses down his neck, you continue to gently roam your hands over his hips and stomach, ensuring that your motions are slow and deliberate.
“I’m really second guessing getting head right now aren’t I? I’m actually overthinking getting a blowjob, I’m fucking ridiculous...” He laughs now, hugging you to his body, his smile widening when you giggle along with him.
Pulling back away from his neck, you nudge his nose, delighting in the sparkle within his eyes before pecking at his lips, “Do you want it? If you’re feeling weird about it, it’s ok. We don’t have to do it.”
He smirks, his hands sliding down your back to rest against your ass, “No, no I want it. I really do, I’m just being...myself.”
His honesty makes you laugh again.
You’re so grateful for it though.
The comfort level between the two of you is off the charts and, it makes you so incredibly happy.
From the lecture hall to the bedroom; the two of you really have come so far.
“Go lay down then...” You urge him, still smiling as he eagerly rushes towards the bed.
He flops back against the pillows, folding his arms behind his head and immediately tucking a lip between his teeth. His breathing is already unstable due to all the kissing but, he knows he’ll have to actively calm himself in order to last.
You place your knees on the bed between his legs and maneuver yourself closer to the seam of his boxers. You don’t feel the need to try and be sexy or dramatic, the intimacy floating between the two of you is more than enough to turn you both on.
However, in the spirit of making your boyfriend feel good, you still want to put on a little bit of a show for him.
“Comfy?” You grin and he immediately rolls his eyes, his lip still tucked between his teeth
“Sure.” He throws a half smirk your way and although it’s not his intention to do so, it spurs you on further.
There’s never a bad time to fluster your boyfriend...
Wordlessly, you grasp the hem of your oversized t-shirt before tugging it over your head, leaving you in nothing but a pair of black boy shorts.
Yoongi’s eyes widen ever so slightly and his chest expands to fit the deep breath he just took, the breath he lets out slowly and shakily.
“So am I.” You smirk, sitting back on your knees to give him the full view of your body. The air of Yoongi’s bedroom is crisp and slightly cooler than you’d like it to be and it causes your nipples to harden, aching for the warmth of his touch. With your hand lingering on your inner thigh, you sigh, “My panties are ruined already-” You pout, “That’s really annoying...they’re going to be drenched by the time you cum.”
Yoongi squeezes his eyes shut whilst he lets out an audible groan, “Ok- what the fuck? You’re not even giving me a chance to last at this point...” He laughs humorlessly, his eyes opening and going straight between your thighs, “Let me see.”
You smirk at his bout of laughter, delighting in how flustered he looks before honoring his request.
Dipping your hand beneath the band of your underwear you slide your fingers over your clit, which is honestly a terrible idea because now it’s throbbing with the need to be played with and,  swipe your fingers over viscous arousal collecting at your entrance.
Yoongi watches you like a hawk, eagerly awaiting the evidence supporting your previous statement.
He isn’t disappointed when you remove your fingers from your panties to show him the stringy, slippery arousal connecting your digits together. The amount of wetness actually surprises you and the way Yoongi looks at you, only worsens the situation between your legs.
Yoongi sits up suddenly, grasping your wrist with both of his hands, eyeing the moisture on your fingers like a man deprived before sucking both of them into his mouth. You feel his tongue lick between them, collecting you, the sensation quickly mirroring itself in your panties. Eyes fluttering close, you allow him to suck on you for longer than necessary, your heartrate quickening as he groans softly against your skin.
He pulls off of you, allowing his lips to linger on the tips of your fingers, his cat-like eyes flitting up to yours. Wordlessly, he brings his hand off the bed and quickly slips it into your underwear. Before you even register what’s occurring, the pads of his fingers are brushing past your clit and tucking themselves inside of you. Your lips part in shock, your hands coming out to brace against his shoulders as he curls them up against your g-spot.
Wide eyed, you meet your boyfriends smug expression as he starts rocking his fingers upwards inside of you.
“Yo-Yoongi...” You grunt, as the pleasure latches on to the pit of your stomach, the sensation unlike anything you’ve ever felt before.
“Mhm, I know- it's good huh?” He chuckles, using his free hand to brace itself against your back, pushing your body against his hand working between your thighs, “You thought I’d just have a little taste and that was it? That’s all I would want?”
“Fuck...” You whimper, your head slumping against his shoulder, leaving his lips at your ear to say whatever filthy things come to mind.
He quickens his pace and the pleasure is so intense that you have a half a mind to tell him to stop because you kind of feel like you’re going to pee yourself but, the next wave of sensations quickly sends that thought to the trash.
“Have you ever squirted before baby?” He croons into your ear, holding you tightly
Your head shakes rapidly, your eyes squeezing shut as you bury your face into his neck, “N-Not with anybody...”
You’ve certainly made yourself squirt before but it was unintentional and definitely didn’t compare to the way Yoongi was making you feel.
He grins, nibbling on the shell of your ear, his breath sending a shiver down your spine, “I think you’re about to, I can feel how tight you are around my fingers. Do you want to cum all over my hand jagiya?”
“Mhm-” You whimper, tucking both of your lips between your teeth as you try your hardest not to moan, “Yoongi...”
Yoongi can feel how hard he is now, his swollen dick nearing the edges of pain from neglect but, his focus is entirely on you and making sure you get yours before he thinks of himself.
“Are you gonna say my name when you cum beautiful?” He whispers, quickening his pace once again, his grin broadening when you nod rapidly in his neck, your legs spreading further to the point where he’s having to fight against the mattress to keep at it.
“On your dick- please? Please can I cum on your dick?” You plead, sucking on his neck now, not fully coherent because all you can think about is cumming.
“Oh my fucking god.” He groans, shaking his head
He’s never heard you ask for his dick like that before and, who is he to deny his perfect girlfriend the throne she so aptly deserves?
“Come get it baby.” He pleads, pulling back to look into your eyes, “Come take it, it’s yours, use it...”
You’re on him seconds later and his fucking up into you with everything he has, biting his lip hard enough to draw blood so he doesn’t wake his roommates.
With your hand over your mouth, you whine into your palm as your orgasm approaches. Yoongi smirks proudly at you, saying everything you need to hear to push you over the edge.
“Beautiful...you’re so beautiful.”
“Please cum for me...”
“Cum all over me.”
“I love you...”
Yoongi’s successful in his plan to make you squirt and by the time he finishes inside of you, you’re a proper mess.
The orgasm he’s given you is intense and for once, you’re the one shaking in his arms, trying to get your wits about you. Lovingly, Yoongi places kisses all over your face and the side of your head, his big hands massaging gently into your back as he helps you come down, even though he’s attempting to relax after his own orgasm.
“D-damn you, that was not the plan.” You mutter, playfully nibbling on his shoulder
He chuckles warmly, still kissing on you, “It wasn’t a part of your plan but, let’s just assume that my plan will forever involve making you cum like that, that was- shit that was really hot.”
“Yoongiiiiii....” You whine, feeling very needy and slightly embarrassed, “You made me ruin the sheets though, I feel bad.”
You hear him scoff incredulously, “Yoongiiiiiii I’m so sorry my beautiful body just had a powerful orgasm all over your sheets, how rude of me, I’m so disrespectful.” He imitates your voice playfully, chuckling louder as you wack him against the shoulder, still hiding away in his neck.
“Shut uppppppp.”
“You are always the one making me cum so hard that I question my sanity. After everything you’ve been through with me today, I wanted to return the favor. You did exactly what you deserved to do; if we didn’t have a flight to catch tomorrow, I’d have my hand in your panties all over again.”
Yoongi's bedroom is dark now as the TV has turned itself off due to lack of activity but, despite the absence of light, you can still feel how wet the sheets are beneath your bodies.
It has you all shy for some reason, reminding you that although you usually take the dominant role in the bedroom, you still have a desire to be small, to be held, to be taken care of...
It felt good to let him do that.
“Thank you.” You murmur, wrapping your arms around his back, pecking the side of his neck, “It was amazing, you’re amazing.”
He smiles in the darkness, “You deserve it.” He thumbs across the cheek that isn't hidden away in his neck, “Are you going to let me take care of you more often? Have I proven myself worthy mistress?”
The nickname isn’t something he’s used before and it both amuses you and intrigues you all at once. You laugh, nodding in agreement, kissing his skin again, “Mhm, more than worthy.”
Yoongi knows he has to change the sheets.
He knows the two of you need to get some sleep.
But for the moment, he wants to stay still.
He wants to love on you and make you feel all the things you make him feel.
He wants to do everything you’ve done for him.
He’s in this for the long haul and he knows it.
This is that forever kind of love.
That I want to marry you kind of love.
That I adore every inch of you kind of love.
He’s found it, it’s all his and he wants to spend the rest of life proving to you how grateful he is.
...how in love he is.
….how lucky he is.
“I love you.” He whispers
“I love you too.”

~Shintori Khazumi
Kirari continued twirling the coin ‘round her finger. It was getting boring in the office lately. She needed something. Some toy to mess around with. The recent days had been rather uneventful for her corporation. Nothing interesting had popped up, and all the business chains under her rule were working rather smoothly.
In short,
It sucked.
High school was definitely better.
Sayaka was by her side, ever faithful in her duties as she filed the last of today’s paperwork. Kirari eyed her expression, watching Sayaka bite her lip, a sign she was contemplating something. The ex-president of Hyakkaou guessed it was about whether or not she should get a head start on tomorrow’s scheduled responsibilities. A good insurance move for the unexpected future. How logical of her. How rational. How very Sayaka.
Ah. But Kirari was her opposite. Always had been. And much unlike her secretary, she adored the unexpected future.
You never know what could happen in so few seconds.
Be it life or death.
It filled her with a pleasurable electricity coursing through her whole body just from the thought of the Destiny stringing her along to its predetermined design. It reminded her of that one match of Fate she had with one Jabami Yumeko all those years ago- okay, maybe like... four years ago, but that was some time in the past, right?
Speaking of Yumeko...
Kirari watched Sayaka berate the girl as she sat on-yes, on, not at- the conference table just across from her now-boss, Kirari. Why she was here, well...
Yumeko was simply too uninterested in college, but unwilling to just settle down to do nothing. Thus, upon graduating from Hyakkaou, she had accepted a modified version of her “life plan” in high school that her relative had offered.
It was better than anything else to her at the time. More interesting than going to college or back home, Yumeko had told Kirari. So the girl was found working for her, managing one of the teal-eyed woman’s underground Casinos. That was it. No other conditions attached. Who was Yumeko to reject such a generous offer that was right in line with her one true love, gambling?
Okay, so maybe Kirari had been the one to scout after her and laid her bet of being Yumeko’s patron for a lifetime of gambling ahead. Yumeko didn’t actually find her offer all that appealing at the beginning, but then a bet had been set in place.  A bet with a risk of whether or not this new business would go under or if it would flourish, regardless of Yumeko’s presence.
One billion dollars. If the casino couldn’t make that much profit in a week without the girl, but could with her, then Kirari would win, and Yumeko was hers forever. If it succeeded, Kirari could not touch her. Yumeko would be gone from her grasp, out of her paradise aquarium.
Of course Yumeko agreed to it.
She loved a good bet. Especially if it was one as intense as the ones she’d shared with Kirari. Kirari loved good, unpredictable wagers too. You could win it all, or lose it all. That was in gambling’s nature. But well, Kirari never gambled games she’d lose. Not on purpose at least.
And that was how she’d gotten Yumeko aboard in her little aquarium once more.
For what it was worth, Yumeko had been able to offer her the entertainment she desired. However, the more successful their whole group had grown, the less Kirari was able to enjoy messing with her very competent, and now very busy staff.
Staring at Yumeko looking over her work seriously despite being in such a position on her table was becoming dull, Kirari getting used to its oddness.
Why was everyone in this room so dedicated and serious in work?
Couldn’t they offer Kirari some semblance of entertainment right now?
Who else could she bother... ah- Ririka. Her dear twin sister. Who had just walked into the room. Surely she’d care enough to save her own flesh and blood, the spitting image of herself from the claws of death by utter boredom.
“Riri-”
“Not now, Rari. I have things to do.” The girl had her brows knitted in a frown, and Kirari suspected that the meeting she was sent to attend did not go as well as they hoped.
Guess that’s another thing for her to smooth out tomorrow. Something to spice up her bland work life. Somehow. But that was for tomorrow.
For today, however, now what... what else could she...
“Excuse me? I’m Hanatemari from HR. I have some files I’d like to have looked over for the recent proposed project.”
A rather fluffy-looking girl was bid welcome into the vast office, Sayaka approaching her and handling the business, as per usual, leaving Kirari to sulk in nothingness even more.
She decided to occupy her mind with this new arrival, eyeing her from head to toe discreetly. Hmm? There was something about the her... something familiar... Hanatemari, Hanatemari...- Oh.
Kirari internally grinned, memory clearing. Hanatemari Tsuzura-san. Hoho. Since when had she been working for Kirari? This was exciting! This was interesting! This was something unforeseen! Now maybe if Kirari could just get her to-
“Thank you very much. I’ll be taking my leave now.” The girl, before Kirari could even utter a single word and get up from her chair, had already began to clean up, and turned on her heel, walking across the vast room heading for the door.
Ahh. And there went her last resort. Would anyone be willing to just take this terrible monotony of a work routine away?
Her final hope, little Hanatemari was slipping away! Kirari would have stopped her. Kirari could have. But she was leaving now, and would it be odd for Kirari to stop her? But since when had she cared about such a thing? That’s right! She didn’t! And so she would get up right now and chat the poor employee up and try to fish for something, anything of any worth.
Before she could do that however, the girl seemed to have taken a turn to have a word with Ririka. She would have frowned, but then a voice at the back of her mind told her to watch; to observe the girl’s interaction with her currently perplexed sibling, showing her some papers that made her sigh at first, but then oddly enough, suddenly light up in poorly concealed excitement.
Oh?
“Yes. As Igarashi-san has said, I will be in direct supervision of this project. Thank you for coming all this way to show me this-” Ririka attempted to speak with her usual leveled tone of professionalism, but Kirari knew her twin well enough to notice sudden brightness in her voice, and the immediate disappearance of her earlier displeasure.
Now Kirari’s attention was definitely caught. It wouldn’t be fun to remain a spectator then, now would it? Not when fate’s dice had begun to roll once more.
“Hello.” She cut in between them, an unreadable smile on her lips as both ladies showed their surprise in their own ways.
Tsuzura had visibly jumped, almost dropping her folder and clipboard, while Kirari smirked at being able to get a flinch out of Ririka.
“M-m-ma’am! Madame! I... why- I’m...” For someone supposedly in Human Resources, this girl couldn’t hold much of a conversation. Kirari was a little worried about that department now.
Or maybe it was because it was Kirari that she acted this way? The sadistic little demon in her grinned, pleased.
“And what is it that you have right there?”
“O-oh! N-nothing someone as noble as you should trouble yourself with.” The girl squeaked out quickly,  papers held tighter to her chest.
“But of course, I should trouble myself with this. This is my company, and those seem to be some documents related to a new project, I heard? Do tell me what it’s all about, Miss...” Kirari trailed off, waiting for the girl to introduce herself.
“Hanatemari. I am Hanatemari Tsuzura.”
But of course, Kirari already knew that.
“Lovely name. And what do you have right there, Hanatemari-san?”
“Oh! Um...” Kirari smiled as the papers slowly inched their way towards her itching hands. What could they possibly contain-
“Just the profiles of incoming interns and trial members.” Ririka quickly snatched the thick folder away, mixing it in with her own. “I’m sure Sayaka has approved of them for you, and I do too. You needn’t worry, dear sister. This is part of our jobs.”
Now this was suspicious. Ririka never really hid much from her. The only time she’d do it was when... ara?
This.
This was it. This was what Kirari had been wanting.
With Ririka’s sudden, careless actions, a few sheets of paper had spilled out the bottom of the files and onto the floor, one particular face-up profile causing a grin to spread wide on Kirari’s face.
Blonde hair, shimmering golden eyes, and that signature scowl of headstrong defiance that Kirari absolutely loved to coax out from this particular girl.
Ah, of course. The one who despised her so, and was one of the people who always gave her a thrill. She never disappointed Kirari, and always entertained her. She was confident, capable, faultily prideful and cocky at times, and was a tsundere.
Yes.
The perfect amusement. Ever the perfect toy.
Kirari couldn’t help but voice her desires. Her need to bring back this little fishy into her lovely, deathly aquarium.
“I want Saotome. I want to make her mine.”
---------
If a few papers on the floor were already enough for Sayaka to consider it “a mess”, then all of those applications now dropped and mixed together on the floor surely made her head hurt, Kirari assumed. Maybe she should help clear it up later if she wanted to maybe not sleep on the couch again.
“What did you just...” Ririka began, but failed to continue. Her nails dug into her palm, teeth clenched and brows furrowed.
Kirari raised a brow at this reaction.
She vaguely registered the sound of a pen clicking, before there was the tap of the plastic onto the table surface.
“What a bold declaration.” Yumeko suddenly stood up, walking towards the gathered group, eyes hidden behind bangs. “To say you want Mary-san to be...” A pause as Yumeko got all up in Kirari’s face, eyes that dangerous red glint as she breathed the last word into Kirari’s ear. “Yours.”
Oh, that delicious chill that ran up her spine.
Mary Saotome. She wasn’t even here, and yet her name had so quickly already stirred up quite the fun. As she thought, Kirari truly needed her here.
Even Tsuzura had an odd tint to her gaze, a frown marring her soft features.
Hmm.
Kirari was certain she knew why they responded the way they did. It was all too obvious, and all the more exciting. Just... weren’t these girls misunderstanding something?
Well, it didn’t matter. If misunderstanding meant an end to her daily gray, then Kirari would utilize it to its fullest extent.
And what better way to do that than...
“It seems as though you disagree with me. Don’t tell me... you all want Saotome Mary to yourselves?”
Only Yumeko vocally confirmed in her usual light-hearted, ‘but of course!’, with that deceiving cheery smile; but Kirari knew the other two shared the sentiment.
“Well then. How about...
We gamble for her.”
Yes, Kirari savored those burning gazes, the exhilaration coursing within her. They all looked way too up for it. It was perfect!
Ah, gambling your life away in high risk games was always a pleasure.
But well, this time it wasn’t Kirari’s own life. She should probably apologize to the girl once she sees her, for betting “ownership” over her.
Meh. She’d cross that bridge when Mary got here.
For now,
Mary Saotome’s life...
is at stake.
//-//-//-//-//
“A-aaa...ACHOO-! Ugh...whad da heck...” Mary reached into her pocket for her handkerchief, clicking her tongue when she couldn’t feel it there. She began to grumble, hands rummaging her bag for possibly a pack of tissues... that were non -existent as well.
Just as she was about to curse the heavens, a clean cloth was held out to her. She took it grateful to the person who she knew could be no other than her usual companion on campus.
“Thanks, Suzui.”
“Always welcome, Mary.” The brunette lad replied with a smile. “You really can’t get used to my first name, huh?” Ryota chuckled as Mary rolled her eyes at it.
“It feels weird and uncomfortable if I suddenly call you so familiarly like that.”
“And yet you’re fine with me calling you ‘Mary’?” He asked.
“Well, it’s my name, isn’t it? Everyone calls me that.”
“If you say so.” Ryota shrugged.
The pair continued walking in silence, the afternoon sun beginning to set in the visible horizon.
While Mary usually preferred this quiet between them, today she would’ve have liked it better if Ryota just... chatted her up like he always did. Lately, her mind had been swirling with a lot of thoughts, and she kind of wanted a distraction from them now.
It wasn’t like they were terrible thoughts, or things that tortured her psyche to a horrible degree that she’d be left sleepless and distraught. No.
They were rather plain, actually.
The musings of her mind were simple, and maybe related to all her insecurities and complexes growing up that had all but exploded when she was in high school.
Why those thoughts and feelings were coming back to her years later, she had no clue.
What she did know was that Mary liked to think she wasn't special.
Odd thing for her to think about when her talk was usually about being a winner, and now wanting to be looked down upon; wanting to be equals with her insane best friend; being someone who wanted to claim her life for herself as her own.
For someone so ambitious and prideful-she was self-aware of this-, she didn’t think this train of thought existed within her mind.
Looking at herself objectively, however, Mary knew she wasn’t really all that spectacular or gifted. Saotome Mary was nothing special.
Okay no, not that she wasn't special. She was, well... Not average, at least.
But compared to the other intense gamblers at school name she was at least.. Sane..r. than most of them.
And like the normal person she claimed to be, Mary went to college. Just like anyone her age would after graduating from high school.
So yes, if she really thought about it, she was going about, using her free will to choose the most mundane life route. Still beats following a pre-writen life plan, though.
If one were to talk about special- Crazy special, crazy and special, now that, that was Jabami Yumeko.
Yumeko, and the Momobami clan, and fucking Kirari, especially. Mary shivered at the thought of the latter. It was no secret that she hated her guts. They sort of got along? Maybe? But she would still sock her if she had the chance.
And yet, as much as Mary claimed to loathe the woman, she had found herself on the long list of applicants to Kirari’s very corporation.
Great.
Mary found herself registering as an intern for their a new branch of the employee services. A new project that Tsuzura- her dear old friend who she’d been reunited with recently, had shown her; and upon finding out Mary’s course, excitedly assisted her with the paperwork.
Mary sighed. Maybe she shouldn’t have agreed after all.
“It still surprises me.” Suzui suddenly cut into her thoughts, meeting Mary’s curious gaze as they crossed a bridge on their way home, Mary spotting the building of their shared apartment in the distance.
It wasn’t as though they were in any sort of engagement other than being friends. Mary just felt that it would be better to split the bill with someone else while in college, and maybe living with someone would help ease some other kinds of life burdens- heck she didn’t know. She wasn’t loaded like all their other friends, neither was she working for someone as filthy rich as Kirari-fricking-Momobami.
There were weird rumors that had floated around them for the first year of Uni, with how often they were together, and apparently living under one roof. Almost. Mary had to explain that they had separate bedrooms and bathrooms. However, Mary was very keen on making it known that she was very much not into Ryota, and very very much gay.
At most, Ryota was her platonic husband, or something. Or dog. Whichever sounded better.
But back to the issue that had just flown over Mary’s head.
“What surprises you?” She responded to him naturally, as if she wasn’t just thinking about their whole arrangement and a dozen other things instead of replying to him right away.
“That you’d choose to take this course.”
“Hah? You saying it don’t suit me, Mr. Commerce?” Mary challenged with a glare.
Ryota’s eyes widened, hands held our defensively in front of him. “No! No, that’s not it at all! Actually...” He gave her a once over. “It might suit you a little too much. The uniform.”
“Oi, creep, what were you just thinking of, huh?” Mary growled, slapping his shoulder. “Stop treating my uniform like cosplay, gosh.”
“First of all, Yumeko was the one that called it that. Second, you have to admit, it almost looks like you are-geh! Mary, we’ve talked about violence!”
“Can it, mom.” Mary grumbled, walking up the steps of their apartment complex, already fishing for the keys in her jeans pocket. “You deserved that one.”
“Okay, but nursing, Mary. You. Someone as violent as you, who causes pain. You being a nurse- please put your fist down. This is exactly what I’m talking about.”
Mary sighed, other hand pushing their door open. “Whatever. You all make fun of me and constantly ask me why. I told you why so many times!”
Ryota laughed at Mary’s expense as the girl continued grumbling about judgmental friends not appreciating her goodwill.
“I mean. You all are wack.”
Ryota gasped,a little offended. “Says you-”
Mary chose to ignore that.
“Itsuki somehow keeps hurting her nails lately, someone like Sayaka looks like she could take a break from stress or else she’d collapse. Girls is bordering insanity, I tell you. Yumeko just... doesn’t give a shit about her health in general. I swear, if she gets one more fever this week, Imma-”
Mary inhaled to calm her nerves. Ranting about Yumeko would only stress her more. Speaking of which, she should message her about her meds later.
Continuing on, “Ririka can’t cook a substantial meal to save her life.” Mary complained, remembering the time she came over to the twins’ Condo, only to see stacks of various takeout on the counter. Sayaka had been gone on a business trip for about two weeks, and Mary didn’t think these two were the type to feast on fast food, of all things.
They wanted to ‘try out commoner food’, as Kirari put it, a teasing smirk on her face as she looked down on Mary again.
“She needs to learn to cook healthier! Essential life skills!”
“She has chefs for that-”
“Irrelevant!”
“It’s actually pretty relevant.” Ryota pointed out. “And what does that even have to do with nurs-”
“Anyway! I’m doing this because I want to, and because you all are... i-important to me or whatever.” Mary suddenly turned bashful. “Health is wealth and all that shit.” Her cheeks were dusted red as she turned around, marching towards the kitchen for a glass of water to cool the burning feeling overcoming her. “And because med would take too long before one of you fools accidentally kills yourself.” Mary added before Ryota could ask anymore questions. That last statement, she shook her head, believing that it really was plausible.
With all they’d been through, it wasn’t unbelievable at all.
Ryota smiled, raising his hands in defeat.
“Okay, okay. Got it. Will never ask about it again.”
“That’s what you assholes always say.” Mary growled, looking ready to pounce again before it was cut off by a sudden chill running up her spine, bringing about another strong sneeze that shook her whole frame. “Gosh, what is up with today?”
“How ironic. Our little nurse is getting sick?”
“Fuck no, screw off, Suzui.” Mary barked.
“Hmm...” Ryota rubbed his chin with his fingers, pretending to be in thought. “Maybe someone is talking about you behind your back?” He jokingly provided.
“Ugh, if I had to say...” She sniffed. “It feels like my life is in danger. Or like someone's looking at me like a "thing" again. Ugh... It feels like all those times with Kirari. Or Yumeko... or both. Are their ghosts haunting me now?”
“Don’t just go off killing our friends like that.” Ryota scolded, approaching Mary and gripping her shoulders from behind before pushing her towards the direction of their rooms. “Maybe getting changed into warmer clothes will help.”
“Maybe.” Mary began walking on her own just a few steps before reaching her room. “Ayt, see ya then.”
“Bye.”
Before they could both enter their respective quarters, their phones went off, a message from the same person, they figured.
Sure enough, the sender couldn’t be any more familiar to them.
“Guess I’ll just grab a coat then.” Mary sighed. “Can’t really turn down an invitation from her.” She chuckled.
“You’re right about that.” Ryota shook his head, amused.
“Let’s go meet her then.” Mary finalized, to which the boy nodded in agreement. “Come on Suzui. Time to meet up with Yumeko.”
Somehow, deep down, Mary had a bad feeling.
She wasn’t special. So she hoped this meeting would be as normal as normal gets.
Somehow.

request. HeLLO mAY I PLS GET THE WHOLE ALPHABET WITH SUNA? IF THATS OKAY SKSKSK TY IN ADVANCE 💕 - anon
a/n. HEY NONNIE!! congrats you’re my last sfw alphabet request 🥳🥳 thank you for requesting!!
Tumblr media
► now playing...
Tumblr media
a - affection (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)
↳ he’s actually very clingy. he loves seeing you get annoyed with him lol it makes him giddy on the inside. he always drapes himself over you, reaching down to lace his fingers with yours until you’re shoving him off.
b - best friend (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)
↳ he’s definitely seen you around the school before, but why were you with the twins? turns out they were asking for some tutoring help, and upon seeing suna, atsumu told him to join too because he also needed help. he was angry at atsumu for embarrassing him in front of you - his classmate and crush but nothing more. he would always try to get closer to you, telling you he needs more help with english. both you and him know it isn’t true.
c - cuddles (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)
↳ he loves them <3 he loves laying on his back with your head resting on his stomach/arm.
d - domestic (do they want to settle down? how are they at cooking and cleaning?)
↳ lowkey shy about admitting that he definitely does. because he’s friends with osamu, he’s picked up on a few cooking tricks so yes, he does know how to cook. he cleans everything religiously. his room, his body, everything.
e - ending (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
↳ he knows he has to end it in person - it’s far more courteous than over the phone. he knows the twins and the rest of the volleyball team will be disappointed to lose their #1 fan, but god didn’t plan for you two to end up together apparently.
f - fiance(e) (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)
↳ he would want to wait until the two of you have enough money, a fully furnished home, and have been living there for about a year. he has it all planned out, plus where and when he will get down on one knee.
g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
↳ super gentle and super doting at the same time. he will never snap at you - he’s terrified of what would happen if he did. he knows he looks uninterested whenever you give him affection, but he truly tries to reciprocate it.
h - hugs (do they like hugs? how often do they do it? what are their hugs like?)
↳ light but warm!! suna doesn’t accidentally want to crush you because he will. he has an impulse to just *squeeze* but he has to stop himself.
i - i love you (how fast do they say the l-word?)
↳ he actually says it really quickly. he knows, plus he’s been planning to since they day you first got together.
j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they’re jealous?)
↳ not that jealous, he just puts his guard up. he’ll grab your waist/arm and pull you into his side if anyone tries anything with you. he loves whenever you kiss him in front of someone trying to flirt with him.
k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
↳ slowwwww and passionate. suna likes taking it slow, therefore he definitely loves trailing his kisses down from your lips to your jawline, to your neck. he loves being kissed on his neck.
l - little ones (how are they around children?)
↳ really good with them. he’ll talk to them, play with them, the whole shebang.
m - morning (how are mornings spent with them?)
↳ he loves waking up and making the two of you a cute little breakfast <3 the two of you eat together at the table, talking about funny things either of you have said in your sleep.
n - night (how are nights spent with them?)
↳ he loves cooking with you. it doesn’t matter if you’re making dinner based on a recipe from osamu or just heating up some ramen. he just loves talking to you and bonding with you.
o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
↳ he might take a month, but he honestly loves holding a conversation with you that the topic just switches and all of a sudden he’s talking about his whole life since he was a baby.
p - patience (how easily angered are they?)
↳ very very patient. he’s forgiving also, but only if he can get a few teasing remarks in.
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
↳ he doesn’t exactly have the best memory, but he teases you for forgetting things </3. he remembers all of the important stuff, but something you said months ago he won’t remember unless it was some excruciating piece of information.
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
↳ the first time you said that you loved him. you listed all of the things you found cute about him, but little did you know that he’s been keeping notes of all of the things you’ve been doing that make his heart flutter.
s - security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)
↳ super protective. he will snap anyone’s fingers if they try anything with you and him. he loves when you try to physically block him from anyone’s view and defend him.
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
↳ he tries </3 but that’s all that matters. he loves seeing your face light up each time he introduces a new date idea or gives you a gift that he saw you looking at on your phone.
u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
↳ people tend to think he’s unexpressive. once he hears what they think, he avoids them. he starts avoiding people more so they don’t assume the wrong thing about him. he’s very detached from everyone.
v - vanity (how concerned are they with their looks?)
↳ he’s not concerned, he just makes sure that he looks good for you 🥺
w - whole (would they feel incomplete without you?)
↳ he constantly wonders if he’s to blame. was he too bland? too unexpressive? did it come off as him not caring? he did care, and he still does. but he can’t when he knows you’re both supposed to be healing. it’s still fresh after all - and suna isn’t getting over you anytime soon.
x - xtra (a random headcanon for them)
↳ HE LIKES CHUUPET (fruit jelly things) HES SO CUTE GBJWBGJ- anyways. he buys tons of them and just keeps them in a cabinet at home specifically labelled for him.
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
↳ since he actually does really love hanging out with the more chaotic people (atsumu) and the calmer people (osamu, aran, kita, etc.) he doesn’t care if someone is chaotic or calm. he likes em all. BUT,,, he doesn’t really dig people who are pessimistic about everything.
z - zzz (what is a sleep habit of theirs?)
↳ he likes to take extra time brushing his teeth and washing his face to make sure he looks his best. he likes listening to music as he’s falling asleep, but wakes up to take his earbuds out because they start to hurt his ears.

“No, no,” Y/N interrupted,  gently pushing Draco’s hands away from his locker. “It’s right to the number, left past the next number once, and right straight to the last number. You twist it right to reset it...no, like this...”
“This is pathetic, I don’t even need to put anything in a box in the wall,” Draco snarled, his gray eyes flaming.
“It’s really not that deep,” she said, snorting at his attitude. “Do they not have locks in England?”
Instead of answering, he huffed dramatically and scowled. “Open it up for me, will you? It’s not worth my time to learn.”
“You’re going to be here for a whole year, you know.” Y/N’s remark contradicted with her actions as she reapproached the locker and twisted out the combination. “But how can I say no to you, ever the gentlemen?”
She held out a hand out expectantly as he stared at her, his eyes full of confusion.
“Your phone,” she said.
“My...my what?”
“I know, it’s weird, but they prohibit phones in orientation. Something about bonding or whatever. Just give it here, and we’ll keep it in here. If it goes off in any of the activities they’ll take it from you.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Okay, okay, I respect that attitude.” Y/N smirked, patting him on the shoulder as he flinched away from her. “Just don’t be mad at me when they confiscate it until 2.”
He stared at her for a few seconds longer before clearing his throat and nodding.
<^>
The speeches at the beginning were always the longest part--the unnecessary dramatization of the importance of high school, the faux motivation mantras, the “love yourself” bits ironically being performed by some of the most insufferable members of the ASB--and Y/N was ready to get it over with, Draco seemed to feel the same way, as every time she looked at him, he looked another shade of uninterested.
She tried poking fun at the performances a couple times to see his reaction, and surprisingly enough, it was slightly well received.
“You see the redhead down there?” she whispered to him, gesturing towards the current speaker with her chin. He gave her a tight nod in response. “That’s Heather, our ASB president. She’s a total tool. Spews all this ‘vaping in the bathrooms isn’t cool!’ shit but one time I walked in on her doing lines in the performance wing bathrooms. She’s crazy, I’m telling you.”
Draco seemed amused at this, resting his cheek in his palm and watching her intently. “Lines?”
“Cocaine.”
“Cocaine?”
“You know what? I’m gonna quit while we’re ahead. I don’t want to be the one to corrupt you.”
Draco scoffed. “You’re worried about corrupting me?”
“Well, yeah,” she said. “I’m not the one who doesn’t know what cocaine is.”
He sniffed at this, turning his attention back to Heather’s mind-numbing anti-bullying presentation that was clearly put together moments before. Silence ensued for the next few moments before Draco sucked in a breath and turned to look at her. “What’s an ASB?”
“Oh, you should be so glad that you have to ask that,” Y/N stage whispered. “It’s student government. It’s an acronym for something. I never cared enough to remember it. The elections are super corrupt--it’s basically a popularity contest. They don’t do anything either...I don’t even know why it exists anyways.”
“So I take it you’re not popular?”
“By choice, I’ll have you know,” Y/N pointed out. “I just made friends with the people I had stuff in common with. We all just happened to not be big fans of putting vodka in our Hydroflasks and the like...What I mean by that is that we aren’t big partiers.” She was quick to clarify when she saw the confusion on Draco’s face.
He didn’t seem to understand any more of what she had said, or at least didn’t show any interest in it, scooting away a few inches from her and turning his head back to Heather’s speech.
The presentation ended within another 10 minutes, much to Y/N’s delight. One had been enough for her--two orientations was pushing it.
Maybe that’s why all the ASB kids are so awful she thought to herself as they made they way to Draco’s first class on the schedule. If I had to be here every year, I’d probably be a grade A rat as well.
“How’d they put you in AP Physics C?” Y/N asked him as they walked into the science lab. “I’m in your same period...and I had to take two years of physics before that to be qualified to take it. Did you take a Physics A level or something? Is that what they call it?”
Draco blinked twice. “Er...sure. My professors told me that I was skilled in Arithmancy, if that’s what you mean..?”
“Arithmancy? Is that just a fancy word for math?” she pressed. “I thought you guys just called it maths.”
“You could say so.”
Before she could push for any more answers, someone behind them cleared their throat. Y/N spun around, her face lighting up when she saw who it was.
“Mr. Whitacre!” she exclaimed.
“Y/N, my least favorite student,” he greeted, a cheeky smile concealed by a rather bushy black beard. “I’m surprised they haven’t kicked you out of orientation. Haven’t you head? This is supposed to be an event for new students...not jaded old souls such as yourself.”
“Oh, you know me.” She rested one of her hands on a lab table, raising an eyebrow. “I just couldn’t stay away from the thrilling suggestion of physics.”
“Sure. And you are...”
Draco just stared at him for a few seconds with a disgusted expression until Y/N elbowed him in the side, hard. “You’ll have to excuse Draco. He’s still going through jet lag. Aren’t you, Draco?”
Y/N sent him a death glare until he wiped the expression off his face and uttered an awkward, “Er, yeah.”
The rest of orientation was just as uncomfortable and unnatural as Draco’s introduction to Mr. Whitacre. Y/N was surprised to see that they had a very similar schedule as Draco seemed entirely clueless to what the subjects even were. She mentioned her concerns to him briefly, but he seemed entirely unbothered.
“It can’t be any harder than school back home,” he told her in his prim and proper voice, prompting a small smile to grow across Y/N’s face.
“Oh, I’m sure,” she said, her voice hardly containing her sarcasm.
The rest of the morning was spent toiling around each of the empty classrooms and memorizing room numbers so Draco wouldn’t be lost come Thursday morning. Y/N wasn’t having an entirely terrible time, as, much to her surprise, Draco wasn’t a complete dickwad. There were moments where he actually had something interesting or worthy to say, and when he didn’t look like he just stepped in something disgusting, she enjoyed the walks between classes. By the end of 5th period, she had concluded that Draco could make absolutely anything sound beautiful in his accent. For once, they were both being entirely civil to each other, and Y/N found herself wishing that the school day went on a bit longer. At least...until the walk to French.
“Excuse me,” a voice carried over Y/N’s as she was in the middle of telling Draco some particularly hot gossip from last year. “I don’t think I’ve seen you here before.”
Heather stood to their left, leaning coolly on the wall of lockers, her right shoulder just subtly dropped in their direction.
“Hey Heather,” Y/N greeted. “This is Draco. He’s our exchange student this year.”
“Hello.” Draco’s voice was stiffer than usual.
She smiled, her lips stretching out over perfectly straight white teeth. “Hi Draco! Listen, I know it can be hard here at first, especially if you haven’t grown up around here, but I swear we’re all super friendly.” She held out her hand, smiling even wider. Y/N hardly managed to hold back a laugh as Draco took it and limply shook it like one would fondle a dead fish.
Heather’s face remained just as cheery. “I just want to say that, as ASB president, it’s my job to make sure you feel like you fit in. Let me give you my snapchat, so if you ever need anything, I’m just one snap away.”
“Oookay, thank you Heather,” Y/N interrupted, wrapping her fingers around Draco’s sleeve and pulling. “I’ll give it to him tonight if he wants it. We have to find French now.” She couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but she swore that she could see Draco send her a slightly grateful look.
“AP French? Quelle coïncidence! I’m headed there too.”
No matter how briskly she dragged Draco along, Heather was able to catch up and chatter away, asking him about life in the UK and how he found Americans. She couldn’t help but allow a little smirk when he answered, telling her “a little annoying, quite frankly.”
French was even more insufferable than she was expecting it to be. The strict teacher, M. Smith (despite being more American than everyone in the room, yes, he did insist on being called Monsieur), coupled with the weird, forlorn glances Heather kept sending Draco made Y/N feel crushingly uncomfortable. With the way that Draco was fidgeting, she could guess that he felt the same way.
Suddenly, 2 couldn’t come soon enough.
<^>
“So, what’d you think?” Y/N asked as they made their way back to Y/N’s car. She toyed with her lanyard, turning and twisting the keys until they couldn’t twist anymore.
Draco stepped over to the passenger side door, waiting for her to press unlock. “Your friend Heather is very friendly.”
“She’s not my friend, Draco, I already told you that.”
“She certainly comes up to talk to you a lot for someone who isn’t your friend.”
She shifted into drive and began pulling out of the parking lot. “It’s an American thing. And plus, she wouldn’t be talking to me if I didn’t have a pretty boy with an accent living with me.”
Draco froze up, sending her a weird sideways look.
“Don’t be so overdramatic, kiddo,” she continued. “American girls go crazy for British accents. Trust me. There’s going to be so many girls throwing themselves at you come tomorrow that you won’t even know what to do with yourself.”
Y/N tried to keep the bitterness from creeping into her tone as she told Draco this. It wasn’t like she liked him or anything--no way--it was just frustrating to know that the moment he stepped foot on the school grounds tomorrow, he would be snapped up into a flurry of admirers. These few days had felt like she was keeping a delicate, sophisticated secret in the guest room in the hall over, but it was time for her to snap out of it.
“The feeling certainly isn’t mutual,” he finally said. Y/N could see that his head was rested against the window as he looked out into the trees as they passed by a particularly wooded area. “American accents give me a migraine.”
“Funny, me too.”
“But you have one.”
“Your point? Pass me the Advil.”
“The...the what?”
Y/N sucked in a deep breath and tried to keep herself from bursting out into a cackle. “Paracetamol, maybe? I think that’s the British version.”
“Er...I’m sorry?” Draco had moved his head from its resting place on the window to send her a confused look.
“Forget about it.”
The drive back was silent for the rest of the way. Upon arriving, Draco made a beeline for his room and made no indication of wanting to come back out, so Y/N spent the rest of the evening ironing out her physics problem sets and getting her backpack ready for school.
My last first day she thought to herself as she zipped her binders and pencil pouch up, a hint of nostalgia threatening to choke her up for a moment.
The entire situation felt eerie and strange. All her life, she’d been waiting to get out of school so she could go to college and meet new friends and have her fun life experiences, and now it was all beginning to happen. She tried to imagine how Draco must’ve been feeling in that moment and could hardly manage to come up with anything she could relate to. He’d been uprooted from his home, his family, his life, all to move to fucking Ohio of all places to finish out school. Y/N would feel a twinge of pity if he wasn’t such a prick.
Which, by the way, now that she really thought of it, was perhaps becoming overshadowed by all the little things she noticed about him. Obviously, he was very pretty, but there was something else just magnetizing about him that she’d never seen before in a person. The way in which he carried himself, the regal manner he spoke in, the delicate and practiced motions of his hands whenever he did anything menial--it all added up to paint Draco as the picture of elegance. She came to the realization that she’d never met anyone quite like him before as she was getting into bed and turning her lights off. He seemed so incredibly detached from reality, but decidedly so, that she couldn’t help but feel fascinated with it all.
And he was all hers to figure out for the next 9 months.
final a/n: huhhhh isn’t that funny that i actually came out with a different fic than i said i would? i think i want to do that quarantine thing a little bit later and make it a series. i’ve planned that i want to finish mirror, mirror in the coming weeks and then transfer to writing the “one shot” that was scheduled to be posted today as a series as well as this. exciting stuff to come!

day 11 | transformation
day 11 from @31daysofwayhaven!!
Pairing(s): None specified, though you’re free to interpret it as any M!UB x gender neutral!Detective ships Warning(s): Blood/injury mention Words: 1125 Summary: Separated from Unit Bravo, the detective finds themself being hunted— in a way— by a vampire. At the very least, they’re thankful that Unit Bravo shows up to deal with the aftermath Notes: posting this one super early because i may end up driving for 5 hours and i’d rather post it early than late—
The detective whips around frantically, malicious laughter echoing horribly off of the trees around them. They can barely keep on their feet, though leaning on a tree for support doesn’t help much when the lightest touch suddenly feels like sandpaper grating against their palm.
Everything at once was suddenly too much, the beams of sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees threatened to burn permanent marks into their vision as wind whistles past and that horrible laugh continues to bounce off of every rock and branch around them.
This wasn’t supposed to happen this way. It was supposed to be illegal outside of the Agency, there were piles and piles of paperwork they were still working on filling out, they weren’t supposed to go through this alone.
They go to call out to someone— they don’t really know who, Unit Bravo isn’t around, the most they would do is attract the attention of some human who shouldn’t know about this stuff anyway— though they immediately cut themself off as even just breathing suddenly feels agonizing enough to kill them.
They could barely find the strength stand anymore.
They manage to make it two steps before they collapse.
The detective blinks awake slowly, finding themself face down in the dirt. They can hear voices approaching, though— as close as the voices sounded originally— it takes at least five minutes for them to see where the sound was coming from.
They don’t think they’ve ever been happier to see four vampires walking towards them in a dimly lit forest.
“Detective!” Felix looks like he can’t believe they’re real, sprinting to their side immediately. He loops their arm over his shoulders, encouraging them to lean on him as they stand up.
The rest of Unit Bravo are standing by them mere seconds after Felix, all staring at them with equally concerned expressions.
“What happened to you?” Mason asks, it’s probably supposed to sound uninterested, but the detective has no issue picking up on the worried tone.
“I..” They hesitate, completely unsure of how to answer. “I don’t know.”
“What?” Nate’s voice draws their attention, glancing up to see him staring at Adam.
Adam glances over the detective, his gaze lingering on the dried blood caked around a mark on their neck.
Nate follows Adam’s gaze, realization overtaking his expression a second later. “You don’t think…” He trails off, though finishing the sentence isn’t exactly necessary when the others clearly understand exactly what he’s about to say.
Something akin to grief flashes in Adam’s eyes. He nods to answer Nate’s unspoken question, immediately glancing away. “We’ll take you back to the facility, you can explain what happened after we ensure that you’re alright.”
The detective nods slowly. There’s a second of absolute silence, loud enough to deafen them.
They sit on the bed in the small room— fluorescent lights dimmed at their request, though the darkness didn’t do much to relieve the overwhelming smell of disinfectant and loud beeping of various vital trackers or other medical machinery— with Unit Bravo dotted around the room, all staring at them.
Nate sits carefully on the edge of the bed, shooting them a quick smile. “Are you feeling alright?”
Mason scoffs from the corner, which does little to hide the concern in his eyes.
The detective shrugs, not entirely sure how to answer.
“Can we get you anything?” Adam glances over from where he was standing by the door, “You must be hungry, you’ve been out since yesterday.”
They shake their head, quite honestly they forgot how long it had been.
 Adam frowns at them.
“You sure you’re okay though, right?” Felix smiles.
“I feel fine.” The detective answers honestly, quite frankly their wounds had stopped hurting almost immediately after waking up.
Nate almost flinches at their words, quickly waving it off as if he hadn’t moved at all. “That’s very lucky, Detective.”
Mason catches their eyes, an unspoken “are you sure?” sitting behind the glimmers of worry in his expression.
They simply nod in response, an answer to his question and a confirmation to calm Nate’s nerves.
“That…” They pause for a second, trying to gather their thoughts. “That vampire, they did something to me, didn’t they?” The detective asks, just barely louder than a whisper.
There’s a beat of silence, Nate glancing towards Adam— who nods— before answering. “Yes, they did.”
“Any idea what that could be?” Felix tries to joke, though his smile looks a little more forced than usual.
 They don’t answer.
In their silence, Adam takes a step forward. “We’re all very glad you’re alright, Detective. You’re…” He hesitates, a flash of an emotion they can’t quite place coming across his face for a brief moment. “You’re lucky to be alive, this isn’t a process many survive.”
There’s a chilling quiet after he says that, broken only by Felix’s quiet chuckle.
“Well, on the bright side, you won’t ever have to leave us now.” This joke seems more genuine, so much so that the detective takes a second to wonder if he’s joking at all.
Given Adam’s reprimanding glare, they think it’s safe to assume he wasn’t.
“We should have been there.” Mason says suddenly, glancing at the detective laying in a hospital bed despite their claim to be entirely fine. He opens his mouth to say something else, though whatever it was remains unspoken as he pushes off the counter he had been leaning on and leaves the room without another word.
“Don’t worry too much about him,” Nate gently rests a hand on the detective’s shoulder, “we’re all still processing this. I can only imagine how much worse it is for you.”
“It doesn’t feel real.” They whisper in response.
“It won’t.” Adam’s voice is low and gentle as he says, “Not for a long time.”
Nate gives a sympathetic nod. “But we’ll be here until it does, and for forever after that.”
 “Literally.” Felix chuckles again.
Everything goes quiet again, this time interrupted by Adam. “You should get some rest. I’m sure we’ll be in to check on you again in the morning.”
They don’t think they’ll sleep at all that night, not with how they can hear heartbeats all down the hallway— faint due to distance, but undeniably there— and how they can smell the meds whoever is in the room next to theirs is taking. It’s all so overwhelming, better than it was a few hours ago, but still way too much at once.
The morning can’t come fast enough. At least with Unit Bravo, it hadn’t felt so alone.
But for now, they sit in their room with dimmed fluorescent lights and a constant smell of disinfectant, and they simply count the hours as the clock ticks on the wall.

Seungyoun; Enemies-To Friends-To Lovers (au.)
Tumblr media
You and Seungyoun always admired each other
Both having your majors in music and in production/composing, you had a lot of the same classes together
You somehow ended up being in the same classes that were unrelated to your majors also, which meant seeing each other maybe 90% of the time on campus
And the other 10% would be off-campus, when you’d try to find different spots to get your creative flow going
Whether it be the coffee shop, a bench in the park, etc.
You’d think that you were on a first-name basis with him at least, but no
He didn’t acknowledge you at all during these times
And when you all had to share your work in class, there would always be positive feedback from all of the students except for Seungyoun
So you decided not to acknowledge him either
But you do have ears, and it’s clear to you that he’s something of a master at composing
Instrumentals, lyrics, the whole thing
And that makes you a bit insecure, which only makes you try harder with your music
And it makes h i m insecure when he hears how effortlessly brilliant your works sound
So this silent battle of “who is better?” plays out for the whole first semester, and you both excel and succeed on just about the same level
But for the next semester, something changed in the way the class works
Your professor assigned each student a partner to create something together as a final project.
And what were the chances that you and seungyoun got paired together? 100%, apparently
For a while, Seungyoun still didn’t speak to you, so you continued to ignore him also, too stubborn to be the first one
Three weeks passed, and you still had some time to get the project done, but you both still didn’t interact
Until you got a message one day from one of your friends (Yohan)
“Wow, why is Seungyoun asking me for your phone number ☺️”
And for a moment, you forgot that those two had been friends for a while, but he clearly knew the situation between you two
“Probably because we have a project to do?”
“probably? hm.”
“Just give him my number and be quiet.”
“Don’t think I forgot about you saying you have a crush on this ‘kinda rude guy in my class’ y/n” he replied, which you ignored
And a few minutes later, you get a text from an “unknown” number asking to meet you at the campus library
So you start walking to the library, but suddenly start to feel anxious about meeting with him
He’d never spoken to you before this, so you don’t really know how or what to say either
Once you get there, you scan the tables briefly to see him facing his Mac, messing around with a few things on garage band
You walk over and sit in front of him, hoping he notices
And he does, immediately taking off his headphones and looking back at you
There’s a few moments of silence that gets a bit awkward before he asks you
“So…what do you wanna do?”
You shrug, replying with “I don’t know, what do you wanna do?”
And more silence follows
“Well…we can pick a theme first. Do we want light, dark, theatrical, poppy…” he says
“I’m not sure…we have the option to make it into a song instead of just instrumentals too. I know that you sing, so did you want to do that, or?”
“Only if you want to sing too”
“I’m not that great at singing though…” you say, getting embarrassed at just the thought of the attempts you made in the past
“I think your voice is good” he says, now changing your embarrassment into bashfulness
And then, confusion
“When did you hear me sing?” you asked him
He kinda froze, looking straight at you as the words cranked out of his brain and through his mouth
“Just a few times when I’d go to the production room when you were already in there.”
You just nod, trying not to think any more about it
“Well, I guess we can make it a song then. I don’t mind singing.” He said, changing the subject
“Great, so now we pick a theme”
And the theme you pick is dark
Not necessarily dark as in “scary or sad”, but the tempo or energy isn’t as fast paced as most songs are
You want the song to convey a different feeling to everyone
So slowly, but surely, you both collaborate
He suggested using elements from a project that you did in the previous semester, which surprised you that he remembered it at all, being as he seemed uninterested in your presentations
And you recommended to mix your instrumentals together to lead into the chorus, merging your sounds for a major part
Seungyoun excitedly works on it, smiling back at you as it played out exactly the way you two wanted
You mark that as the first time he genuinely smiled at you, making your heart flutter at how cute he looked when he did
Then you think about how he looks when he’s working, lips pouty and cheeks puffed, being cute once again
And then you decide to stop yourself from crushing on him, when the only things you two had ever talked about was about the project
“now really isn’t the time” you think to yourself, shaking your head to focus on what your next steps in the project were gonna be
You’re a few weeks in now, but you two may have gotten carried away
The song was almost done now that he had the lyrics placed perfectly with the instrumentals (after a lot of changes, of course)
So you recommended taking a little break to catch up/focus on your other classes for a while more, which he agreed on
You suggested this mainly to keep your feelings at bay, upset about how you let your heart overpower your mind
Though you two never spoke in the past, he did pay a lot of attention to you, remembering your past work, bringing you your favorite coffee drink when you two were working because he remembered what you had gotten the last time, and a lot more
But you knew that it was absolutely platonic, and that made you a little sad
Yet, you accepted it and carried on
You thought that Seungyoun would’ve actually accepted the break with the project, but he still asked you to meet with him one night at the cafe
And you wanted to say that you were busy, but you clearly would’ve been lying since you caught up on your homework for astronomy already
You expected to find him there with his MacBook open and headphones on, but instead, he was just at a table, surface bare, typing away on his phone
Your face must’ve shown your major confusion, because when he looked up, he asked if you were okay
Nodding, you sat down, unknowingly tapping your foot out of anxiousness
“Where’s your computer?” You asked him
“I left it in my dorm room. We were taking a break, right?” He asked, just as confused as you were
“Oh…I thought you asked me to meet you here to work on the project…” you answered
He paused for a moment, scratching the back of his neck before smiling at you
“I should have said it in the text, but I was just hungry and thought you would’ve wanted something here too. I doubt you ate today. Yohan mentioned you forget to eat sometimes”
And it was true, you did forget to eat dinner, but you wondered why Yohan talked about you to him
Then you realized that Seungyoun asked you here just on friendly terms, finally settling the internal dispute you had of “are we friends or just co-workers?”
So you both ordered, and he payed
And you talked about things other than music, like how you both met Yohan at the most inconvenient but perfect moments, the pets you’ve had, and the infamous “is water wet” question
The conversations lasted for a good hour before you realized that you two were the only ones left and that they’d close the cafe soon
Not wanting to be nuisances, you both left before they closed and just walked back to the dormitories
You didn’t have much else to say until he broke the silence one again
“I’m glad we got paired together. If we didn’t, I’d think you’d still hate me” he said with a sad laugh
You turned to him in shock, immediately saying
“I never hated you! I thought you hated me up until maybe two weeks ago?”
“Two weeks ago? Why?”
“You never reacted to my presentations”
“Neither did you!”
“You also never talked to me in any of the classes we had together”
“Yeah, because you never talked to me”
“Wow…we’re the worst at communicating, huh”
He just laughed at the situation
“I was too scared to react to your compositions. I felt like if I gave any comment or critique, then you’d ruin my life when I presented” he told you
“Are you kidding me? Do you really think that your songs weren’t good? I always dreaded presenting after you because I knew you’d have something amazing. Everyone in the class loved what you made, you know that?” You said, projecting your feelings towards him and his music into “everyone”.
He smiled bigger this time, thanking you quietly for saying so
“Well, knowing that you don’t actually never hated me makes me feel even better than knowing the rest of the class likes my work” he said
Now you were at a loss for words, smiling back at him to maybe fill in the silence with a happy gesture
Days pass by and you get texts here and there from Seugyoun that range from
“Do you think you can help me study for *insert subject here*?”
To
“I really think that giving the ducks on campus bread to eat isn’t good for them”
And you end up being with him a lot, even if it’s unintentional
It got to the point where Yohan made a group chat with the two of you and named it “traitors” since you often forget to ask him to hang out with you both
“Yohan, you’re in class right now”
“Okay, but I could’ve skipped to go and have lunch with you both”
Your relationship with Seungyoun grew really strong super fast, and you’ve somehow managed to keep down the feelings you were having for him before
You thought that being his friend was more that perfect at the moment
Even at the points where you were both stressed, he managed to boost both of your spirits that made you wonder why you were stressed in the first place
Until one incident happened
Once you two started working on the project again, everything had gone smoothly
He recorded his voice, and you edited it in with the background music.
You asked him to listen back on it, hoping he’d catch any editing mistakes you may have made
Seungyoun listened, nodding his head as he smiled at the distortions you added for a new effect.
“I really don’t have to fix anything. You did great, as always” he said, pausing the track to talk to you
Just as you were about to reply, the lights dimmed a bit in the studio.
And the systems shut down.
Seungyoun just stared at the dead screen, waiting for it to boot up, but you could tell that he was irritated
Once it fully turned back on, he immediately went to check on the file
Which wasn’t there
And so he stares blankly at the screen again, a million things going through his mind about what just happened
“I…don’t think the file saved, y/n, I’m sorry” he said sadly, clicking on different folders to see if it was maybe saved somewhere else
“What? No, it’s fine! I saved it on my drive before you put yours in, remember?” You told him as you pulled it out of your pocket
The look of relief on his face as he stood up and hugged made you laugh, glad that you thought ahead before a disaster hit
“God…why are you so great?” He asked, finally letting go of you
You just shrugged and smiled, going to put the drive back in to listen to the song again, but before you could, heard him say
“I could really kiss you right now”
And you try not to think about what he had said, but it’s obviously hard not to when the statement was as bold as it was
You just assumed that he was joking with you, because, well, he just does that sometimes
So you turned back answered with a laugh
“Yeah. The same to you”
And deep down inside, you meant that, no matter how hard you tried to ignore the scratching sensation of your true emotions dying to burst out of your heart
You thought that it would eventually go away, until you felt his hand resting on your cheek, and then his warm lips on yours
Now this was the time your own mind went blank, trying to process what was happening
And when you finally did, you didn’t waste a second to kiss back
When you broke apart, you tried evening out your breath to ask him
“If I didn’t say I wanted to kiss you too, what would you have done?”
“I would’ve asked if I could. And then you’d say yes, and I’d kiss you” he said with a serious look on his face before cracking out a laugh
And you pushed him slightly for that
“How would you have known I’d say yes?”
“I mean, when you tell people like Yohan a secret, it never stays a secret, you know?”
You just raise an eyebrow at him before realizing what he meant
“So you knew I had a crush on you this whole time? And never said or did anything about it?”
“I had to be sure! It was a while ago that he told me, I didn’t know if you were already with someone else”
“I think you would’ve know. We literally saw each other everywhere, remember?”
He just nodded and smiled
“Well. We could make up for that time now if you wanted to…date? Maybe?”
“Of course, Seungyoun”
“Woah, really?” He said, his smile a thousand times bigger now
“Yes! Did you think I’d say no?”
“I honestly didn’t think this far in” he told you, making you laugh this time
You thought for a moment before telling him
“Let’s not tell Yohan about this yet, unless you’re ready for him expecting us to thank him for ‘setting us up’”
“True. Even though he kinda did…”
“Yeah, but he’s still just getting over the fact that we became friends and forgot to invite him with us places”
“…Right. He can wait a bit”

Chapter 5: Caring Is a Hazard to Your Health (#32)
I didn’t realize how much of a blessing our sports day was until now. I’m usually perfectly fine with spending time alone, but that’s with billiards tables available, or at least the knowledge that I could go talk to someone if I wanted to.
And I wasn’t especially worried I’d find a dead body if I tried.
Tumblr media
“...”
I toss my book onto my bed and stare at my lunchbox—dinner box?—one more time. I’m not even hungry yet, but I'm tempted to eat just to have something to do.
Tumblr media
This feels like the last place I should be sitting around doing nothing. Even if I should be trying to relax...
Tumblr media
Maybe I should have looked for bath bombs or something, I don’t know. There are still only so many times I can clean off in one day without drying out my skin enough to hurt. Know that from experience.
Tumblr media
“............”
Let’s not think about that.
Okay. Things to do. Uh... Wouldn’t mind some cooking practice or something, but even that’s a no-go.
Maybe I will go ahead and eat. Ugh.
I actually open the box and stare inside. Nothing exciting, just my attempt at hand rolls. Had a lot of seaweed and stuff out this morning, so it seemed appropriate. Even if this might feel a little too samey after the onigiri for breakfast.
Tumblr media
“Well, this one’s not color-coded.”
Not that my breakfast one was, either. Just everyone else’s. Apparently my assigned color is normal nori color. Oh, well. As long as I end up with mine instead of... what was the weirdest one? SPAM in Kaichi’s?
Tumblr media
That’s just wrong.
I wash my hands and choke down my dinner before dropping onto my desk chair again. I could work on my mastermind notes... Not that I have anything to work with. This motive doesn’t tell me much besides “outlandish,” which I pretty much had already. I’m tired of trying to decode Itsurou’s notes, too. Wonder if Aidan would have any luck. His whole thing is communication.
Tumblr media
Not really like this, but. Whatever. I only have so many options. One, actually, if I haven’t for-sure crossed anyone else off the mastermind list.
Tumblr media
“Though maybe Kaichi...”
Mm. Either way, if I’m asking for help, it’ll have to wait until tomorrow.
I stare at the ceiling a while before resuming my light reading. I got some kind of country western, just for something different. Don’t hate it, at least.
I still end up turning in pretty early. Wake up a couple times from nightmares I can’t remember. Eventually get up for the morning.
I wait in my doorway as people assemble. I swear I hear that tearing sound at some point again, but I’m still not seeing what it is. Somebody playing with packing tape in their room or something?
Tumblr media
Might end up resorting to that myself at this rate.
Tumblr media
“Oh... Is Kaichi still not up...?”
Tumblr media
“Kanagi, either.”
Tumblr media
“Not precisely unusual for them...”
Tumblr media
“Welllll, Kaichi’s door is closer, so we can all go knocking there first, right?”
Tumblr media
“Ooh, it’ll be like ding-dong ditch!”
Tumblr media
“Except there’s kinda no doorbell and we’re not running away.”
Tumblr media
“Why would you call such a thing ‘ding-dong ditch’ when neither of those is happening?”
Tumblr media
“Let’s just get knocking, shall we?”
In the weirdest welcome party I’ve ever been part of, we assault Kaichi’s door, then Kanagi’s. It takes a little persistence, but we manage to wake both of them up.
Tumblr media
“Cool, lesseet.”
Tumblr media
...Mostly wake both of them up.
But we manage not to get into more trouble from here all the way to the cafeteria. Yuki, Mahavir, and I go ahead to the kitchen, with Yuki dragging Tsunyasha in with us this time. More of that color-coded onigiri, apparently. Better than letting the dyed seaweed go bad or something, I guess.
Either way, less work for me, so I won’t complain, even if another pickled plum breakfast only contributes to the monotony.
Tumblr media
I’m sure that will be offset plenty since we’re all assembled for the morning. Never a dull moment with this crowd.
At least there aren’t any more death threats before Aidan calls the meeting to as much order as it’s going to get.
Tumblr media
“All right, everyone! We don’t have to put up with our current system for much longer now! We’ve been doing well enough so far, so please continue to follow our safety guidelines! Possibly more strongly than you have been already.”
Tumblr media
I would ask what that’s supposed to mean, but it feels like a callout. You didn’t exactly kick me out yourself, sir.
Tumblr media
“...”
Tumblr media
“I take it you intend to impose more upon us now?”
Tumblr media
“Not at all!!”
Tumblr media
“I’m certainly not cutting more slack, but I do have another group event.”
Tumblr media
“Already...?”
Tumblr media
“Do you intend to pick up where we left off on sports day?”
Tumblr media
“Not so soon.”
Tumblr media
“Like, of course not.”
Tumblr media
“It’s every bit as exciting, though!”
Tumblr media
“Are we gonna blow stuff up?”
Tumblr media
“Absolutely not.”
Tumblr media
“Yes, no explosives, please.”
Tumblr media
“I’m actually planning to hold a game demonstration!”
Tumblr media
“It’s a Western board game I don’t think most of you have heard of.”
Tumblr media
“The rule set is notoriously complicated, thus why I’m framing it as a demonstration rather than a game proper. Though we can certainly play it afterward if you like!”
Tumblr media
“Like, I’m not good at complicated stuff, so.”
Tumblr media
“If you aren’t interested in the demonstration, you can always attend and play something else in the same room.”
Tumblr media
“You mortals truly love these pitiable simulations, hmm?”
Tumblr media
“ ‘Love’ might be phrasing it a little strongly.”
Tumblr media
“I am not sure I would be interested in the demonstration, but I can tag along...”
Tumblr media
“I have no idea what we’re doing, but it sounds fun!”
Tumblr media
“ ‘m not much for board games, honestly?”
Tumblr media
“I mean, fun way t’ piss people off ‘f you pick th’ right ones, but. Kinda not sounding like Monopoly there, brah.”
Yeah, board games must be pretty tough with his condition.
Tumblr media
Though something tells me he’s weaponized them all along.
Tumblr media
“Understandable. And yes, it’s nothing so well-known.”
Tumblr media
“If so few people are interested, we don’t need to do it.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, I can come...”
Tumblr media
“If there aren’t enough people to make a group event, we can still play in the hallway as long as it’s four of us, right?”
Tumblr media
“That’s correct. Does that seem like a better solution to you all? Anyone uninterested would just spend the time in his or her room instead.”
Tumblr media
“I’d totally rather do sports again, though?”
Tumblr media
“Some of us may need more time to recover.”
Tumblr media
“Yyyyyeah, rest ‘sn’t a super bad idea, seems like.”
Tumblr media
“Bogus.”
Tumblr media
“Yeah, ‘t be like that sometimes, though.”
Tumblr media
“I would be perfectly happy to continue sports day tomorrow—Misters Attenborough and Riseiin certainly have a point.”
Tumblr media
“So! If we’d rather split the party, which three of you are most interested in the game demonstration?”
Literally no one jumps at the chance.
Tumblr media
“Well, beats sitting in my room all day.”
Tumblr media
“That it does. Anyone else?”
Tumblr media
“Pass.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll play...”
Tumblr media
“Or watch...? Well, whatever we’re doing...”
Tumblr media
“Room for one more.”
Tumblr media
“I’m not particularly interested, I’m afraid.”
Tumblr media
“Yeah, like, I’m super not.”
Tumblr media
“Yo, if not enough people sign up, then can we do sports today?”
Tumblr media
“I’m pretty sure there’s even less interest in sports than in the board game right now.”
Tumblr media
“Certainly. There’s no joy in fighting against such little competition.”
Tumblr media
“I’m afraid any further sports outings really ought to wait for now, yes.”
With a frustrated grunt, Kanagi slams her hands down the table. She immediately flinches back and swears, shaking out a hand.
Tumblr media
“You good?”
Tumblr media
“Yeah.”
Tumblr media
“Did you hurt your hand...? Let me see...”
Before Yuki can even start for Kanagi’s table, the latter pulls her hand back to her collar.
Tumblr media
“Nah, I just, like, sprained it a little yesterday, I think?”
Tumblr media
“You sprained your wrist, but you want to immediately go back to doing what hurt your wrist.”
Tumblr media
“C’mon, dude, you’re a sports, you understand.”
Tumblr media
“I... No? No, I don’t.”
Tumblr media
“I can help you wrap it if you like?”
Tumblr media
“Nah, I can handle it. I got bandages ‘n’ stuff in my room.”
Mahavir just grunts. And so the group parents have been sated.
Tumblr media
“If Miss Yuukei’s injury is taken care of, can we finalize planning for the game? Miss Tsuynasha, Mister Tokino? Would either of you be interested?”
Tumblr media
“Oh, very well. There’s no need to beg... yet.”
Tumblr media
What, is she going to show up and then have us grovel before she actually pays attention?
Tumblr media
“Surely I ought to keep an eye on you sinners, given the opportunity.”
Tumblr media
“...”
Tumblr media
“Okay! I can just draw and stuff.”
Tumblr media
“All right, then!! We’ll plan for this evening. Miss Kurokame, Miss Kogamino, and Miss Tsunyasha, I’ll come door-knocking when everything is set up.”
Tumblr media
“We’ll stay in the hall, so if anyone else would like to watch from his or her room, feel free to keep your door open.”
Tumblr media
“Shoots.”
Tumblr media
“I’ll look forward to it, hummmmm...”
Tumblr media
“Yeah.”
No one has any other suggestions for today, so the rest of the morning is just finishing breakfast despite distractions—
Tumblr media
“Have you considered chewing?”
Tumblr media
“Sounds bogus.”
—and then more food preparations. Then it’s a wrap. Time to go back to my room alone for several hours, I guess.
Tumblr media
Whoopee.

Kristen 1-20 ewe
I did,,, I did my best ;_;
Holiday
After much thought to this, I've decided to give the ldwl a yearly festival. It's one the wizards started celebrating in honor of Adizora. Elementals aren't allowed to attend, obviously, because Adizora was supposedly killed by an elemental group.
Kristen's elemental group sneaks in every year, though. She loves everything about it, from the music and dancing to the food. Her favorite is the light show, though. Three wizards get together and guide multicolored lights through the air in different shapes and patterns.
Kristen and Luna have been secretly attending this festival since they were kids ;w;
Cooking
Kristen always leaves a huge mess after cooking (and she never cleans it up). Kole threatened to set her leftovers on fire once because she refused to clean her mess lol
She likes cooking with Kole, though, even if he isn't that great at it.
Sleeping
Kristen sleeps in her bed super weird. She is always waking up in a different position than she layed down. She also throws everything off the bed somehow while sleeping. Sometimes, when she really needs company because of the mess in her mind, she will take her blanket to Kole's room and sleep on his floor
Driving
Cars were brought over into their world once the portal had been opened, so it's not like cars don't exist there anymore.
However, Kristen refuses to learn to drive one (or even ride in one) unlike her brother, who loves the convenience of them. Her reasoning for why she doesn't want to is a lot more complex than "they scare her" but it's so much easier to say that than the truth
Hugging
She hugs Kole nearly all the time. She knows he gets kinda awkward when she does, but it's very comfortable for her.
Sex
She's never had sex before (in both timelines). She wants her first to be Luna, and has been waiting because of that.
When she does have sex, I don't imagine she will be very good at it lol idk what else to say cause Kristen having a sex life is a very new concept to me lolol
General physical contact
Physical contact is very important to her. Because of the two different realities constantly streaming through her mind, Kristen uses her sense of touch to keep herself grounded. She's very affectionate with Kole and Zero, but not so much with Luna. It hurts too much to be physically close to her.
Physical appearance
She's the same height as Kole (so 5'11)
Her hair is wavy and reaches her midback. In this timeline, she's a blonde. In the other, a brunette.
She wears makeup, but not nearly as much as Luna does.
Wardrobe
Kristen wears a lot of green and yellow. This is something she and Luna have in common ;_;
She has a specific dress I imagine she wears for most of the story (which I attempted to recreate in animal crossing alasnfjfkfl) but I do imagine her wearing other outfits. Scarves seem to be something I imagine her wearing often, but I don't have any ideas on how to match them to her outfits. When she wears jeans or skirts, they are usually white or light blue, with the occasional green and yellow thrown in.
Jewelry
Kristen makes her own jewelry! I'm not entirely sure what it looks like yet, but I know she has necklaces and earrings as her favorite accessories. (Mostly earrings tho)
Soft spot
Her elemental group, but mostly Kole and Luna.
In a way, Jedediah.
She loves animals of all kinds, but she especially loves the animals that are undomesticated.
She was really close to Vince, and will want to be close to him again when she finds out he's alive.
Pretty lights, like fireworks
Relationship with ___
Kole
Old timeline -
In the old timeline, Kristen and Kole were very distant from each other. Through all her attempts to build a solid relationship with Kole, he continuously pushed her away. They never really spoke to each other unless necessary.
All that changed after Kole lost Vince. Because of that, he had been planning to kill himself, but instead broke down to Kristen very suddenly. The distance they felt between each other through the years was closed, and Kole began working to make up for the way he treated Kristen in the past.
New timeline -
They grew up very close, because all they had was each other. Kole never knew Vince in this timeline, so he never had to go through losing him.
Currently, Kristen and Kole are still extremely close. They do pretty much everything together, and it's not just because they're in the same elemental group. Kole has and would do anything for Kristen. Kristen is so happy to see Kole happy, and in a way, she's glad her wish changed the timeline. Sometimes.
Luna
Kristen has had a crush on Luna for as long as they've known each other.
They met when they were kids, and because of being pushed away and mistreated by her family, Kristen was in desperate need of a friend.
Luna and Kristen spent all their time together. As they grew up, they both realized they had feelings for each other. Eventually, they began dating.
This didn't happen in the new timeline. In fact, Kristen hadn't met Luna in the new timeline until two years before, and they were never very close. Luna was a part of the elemental group more out of convenience than anything. She also had feelings for Kole, unfortunately for everyone involved (cause Kole is turbo gay, Luna had to deal with knowing her feelings wouldn't be returned, and Kristen got to watch all this go on all while missing Luna.)
Kristen has been trying to get closer to Luna, but she remains uninterested in letting this happen. It's caused Kristen a lot of pain to remember her time with Luna, but knowing Luna doesn't realize how close they were.
Jedediah
I imagine they knew each other before the wish, which is why Kristen felt comfortable coming to him for help. She knows all about what Jedediah deals with from his past, and she had always felt bad for him. Jedediah assumes Kristen forgot everything he told her before because of the new timeline they're living in, but he's wrong.
Despite all the horrible shit he's put Kristen through, they don't hate each other. In fact, I can see Kristen wishing for Jedediah to heal from his past and being friends again. Jedediah's feelings about Kristen is something he chooses to ignore, because he is fueled only by his desire for revenge and the need to make everyone around him hurt in the way he has for so long. He will sacrifice everyone he knows, the entire world if necessary, to achieve his goals. He sees everyone as disposable, and Kristen is no exception (or so he tries to convince himself of.)
Extra Kristen info
I have some Kristen/Luna stuff, since you asked before ;w;
They would have been together 7 years now if the wish had never happened. I imagine Kristen had feelings for Luna much longer than Luna did for Kristen. They were closer with each other than they were with their bio families.
I imagine they moved in together as soon as they were able to. Despite Luna and Vince trying to get Kristen and Kole closer to each other, it never really worked out. Kristen loved living with Luna, and it didn't bother her too much leaving Kole behind. She still saw him occasionally, but it was only because of Vince's efforts to keep them in contact.
Luna and Kristen had their own elemental group with Vince (because Kole was already a fire elemental in his elemental group, so Vince didn't really have a place with Kole's group) and Jedediah (Jed was not an elemental, and the group knew this, but he was able to pretend to be a water elemental from his years of practice of different types of magic in different worlds). So yeah, Luna was also close to Jedediah.
I keep thinking about Kristen and Luna having a flower garden straight up in one of the rooms in their house. With Kristen being an earth elemental, she took care of the flowers for Luna. The garden was made for Luna specifically, because she loves flowers so much.
I also like to imagine that Luna always did Kristen's hair for her,,,,, like, Kristen was capable of doing it on her own, but Luna insisted that was something she wanted to do for Kristen. So soft..,.,.,.,,
Other things about Kristen I keep thinking about is like, she is a pacifist (like the rest of her elemental group), and she doesn't want to see any conflict between them and Jedediah, but like .., he's hurting her, and her friends. She has to toss all that aside to keep her friends safe
She tries to be prepared for every possible scenario, which means sometimes she can go a little overboard on the "what if this happens? we need a plan!"
I can't get anymore words out of my dumb brain, I'm sorry ;m;

Questions for Colin - DCC edition
Okay so, November is upon us (has already entered here), and it’s Dutch Comic Con month, and once again I’m doing this because DAMN I want to ask the guy questions and am perfectly fine standing in line for 30+ minutes waiting to do just that but I have no idea what to ask him or how to phrase my questions.
Under the cut because I love rambling, lol.
So. Best (and quite possible, I’d gather) case scenario, I get to ask him three questions. One in each panel (hopefully, he’ll have one both days), and one in the M&G. One will be about JJ Sneed, one about him playing the two Hooks, and one idk about what yet (I really really wanna ask him about Kiss Me Judas but I think he still won’t be able to say much on that).
Now, I will come back to what to ask about JJ Sneed when we actually see the episode and know what’s it like, but a first idea is “What was your favourite moment in filming JJ Sneed?” or something. Just give him an open-ended question about something wholly new and make sure he knows how much we enjoy seeing him in new stuff. One doubt I have is that because it would literally be so brand new, like, ep drops on the 22nd and the con is on the 23rd and 24th, he may say he doesn’t wanna spoil people who haven’t watched it yet, so a) I’ll be asking it on the second day and b) I think I’ve grown enough confidence to outright ask “Can I ask about JJ Sneed or do you worry you’ll spoil people?” before I ask the question, so if he says no, I can have an alternative question at the ready. Because I really, really wouldn’t like my question to be wasted like that. As much as I love him, waiting 30+ minutes standing up only to get a “Can’t answer that” is a bummer :/ (I mean, I’m not blaming him, I know sometimes he really can’t say some stuff, but I think the best solution for the both of us is something like that, so I can ask him something else... does that make sense?)
Idk, maybe even pointing out the “spoiler” factor may make him unsure of answering, on the other hand, by that point it will have been released globally and anyone who has the means to watch it will have the chance to...
I wanna ask about him playing the two Hooks for a very specific reason, but also because I have so many fcuking feels about those two being friends, and I have so much happiness over Colin having had fun with playing both versions, so I think I’ll be asking him something like “What were your favourite parts in playing each different Hook?”. Not like, the differences, because I know that he’ll say something about Wish Hook being a father and while I find it ADORABLE that he drew from his feelings as a real father to play him, it’s something I already know, and I honestly just want to let him talk about his favourite parts, without making him feel like I’m asking him to choose. Just talk about what you like man, I LOVE HEARING YOU TALK.
Now the above two I’ll ask at the panels, for the M&G... I’m still not sure what to ask. God knows how much I want to ask him about something related to whump, but I think I’ve run out of simple, “sneaky” ways to have him talk about it (as much as you can call my question “Did you like playing the scenes of Hook in the Underworld” sneaky 😆) and I’m not sure how else I could approach the subject. I could ask him about The Right Stuff, but still I’m so uninterested in the subject material that I can’t come up with any question I deem interesting, though I know there’s a lot of people who would love to hear him talk about that. Kinda hoping someone else asks him about that in the M&G (and don’t worry, if all goes well, I’ll post a detailed recap of it for y’all, hopefully by the same night).
One idea I had about Kiss Me Judas was to ask him how different the script is from the book. I remember reading an interview from the book’s author saying how he changed some stuff, and I’m really curious to know what those things are (if anything because there are a couple of things I didn’t like in the book and I’d like to be prepared about them possibly happening in the film), but again I worry that he’ll say he can’t say much about it since it’s at such an early stage. Another idea was to start by saying “I’m super fucking excited for Kiss Me Judas, I know it’ll take long but I’m gonna wait,” and then ask something irrelevant. Like, let him know that there are already people excited about this project (that he himself seems very excited about) and then go on with a question he can answer.
Another idea was to ask him about Dark Hook, but I’m like... not sure. I’m worrying it might have been too long since then, and I’m not sure exactly what to ask him in the first place. Like, at times I feel 5x10 and 5x11 have been amongst the episodes where he was given the best material in OUAT as an actor, and he fucking nailed that material, but again I’m like... I know he’ll appreciate hearing that people loved his work there, but I’m not sure how to phrase a question that’ll be worth half my 250 euros (because I’ll be honest the experience alone is worth at least the rest).
There’s also Fairytale of New York that I can ask him about, particularly if it’ll come out anytime soon because the story’s supposed to take place during Christmas and it’s November and there’s not even a trailer out yet is it not gonna be a Christmas movie or will we have to wait for Christmas 2020??
Anyway, those are my ideas, there’s still time to work on them and I’m fully determined to exhaust me legs and expose meself 🤪 However, if anyone has an idea of what questions to ask or how to phrase them, I’d love working around ideas about it!

I only watched a few episodes here and there of the One Chicago shows, but here's my thoughts:
Chicago Fire:
This is the one I saw the most episodes among the three of them, but I saw older seasons, not much of newer ones.
Shay was my lesbian hero. I loved her to pieces and I was devastated when she died.
I loved her friendship with Severide, it was so cute and deep and it was just everything.
I think that maybe the only reason why I loved Casey was because the actor is the same that played Chase in House, MD?
I don't know, but I saw the new season episodes and Casey just seemed really bland and uninteresting. I don't know if at the beginning he was better or not, but I remember him being my favourite along with Shay and I was really underwhelmed by his character in more recent episodes.
I never got Gabby's appeal. I never liked her. I don't hate her or anything but I don't like her either.
I feel like Chicago Fire has run its course. Nothing new is being added and storylines are being reused. Everything just feels really stale in my opinion.
I haven't seen it, but I know Casey and Gabby broke up because she's not even in the show, which yeah, I didn't like Gabby, but I hate when they spend SO MUCH time in a couple, getting people invested in couple, making people ship and love the couple just to then break them up. (It's not me, I didn't love this couple, bit if they did this to a couple I loved I would be crushed)
Chicago PD:
I haven't seen too much of this, but still a quite a bit.
First and foremost while I may not watch this show regularly and while I haven't seen a lot of it I love Jay Halstead with my whole heart and soul. I just love him, that's it. I'll even go on his tag here on Tumblr (but not a lot of times because it's full of jay x reader fics which is something that I can't deal with. I'm sorry, nothing wrong with it, I just hate them with my whole being).
I didn't like Sophia Bush's character. I just didn't. However her relationship with Jay was super cute and I actually really liked it.
However I like her replacement A LOT. Upton is just great I love her.
I don't ship Jay and Upton, but if they ended up together I wouldn't hate it. I just love to see M/F friendships on show that don't turn out to be romantic, and they are great friends.
Adam is not it. I'm sorry if you like him but he can choke.
I know that that's the premise of the show or whatever but I hate how much illegal stuff these cops do. And at the end it's like "but they did it for a good cause, so it's fine". Like no, you're cops.
New girl seems bland and a bit stereotypical.
What happened to that old guy that looked homeless that was part of the team?
It seems like a lot of episodes center around Adam, yikes.
Chicago Med:
This show is just,,, a whole mess.
I hate when couples are stringed along for too long. Halstead and Manning (or whatever her name is) are just so annoying. From season 1 they've been trying to get together. I haven't seen all the seasons and even I am tired of it.
You can create drama even when two people are still together, you don't have to have them pine for eachother, get together, and then break them up because you need more drama. Create drama within the relationship.
(I haven't even seen them together, I went from them pining for eachother, to them being not together and Manning wanting to talk with him but getting into that car thing and losing her memory.
Which I hate. I hate memory loss when it's not well done.)
Rhodes or whatever left and I wish I could say I cared but I never cared about him at all. Okay, bye I guess.
Really like the psychiatrist wife, she seems great. I don't know who she is or when she got here but I like her.
The characters that I love the most are nurse April, nurse Maggie and doctor Choi. They are just great.
I like Will Halstead.
I also like Choi, Halstead and the new guy.
I don't really like Manning.
What happened to that girl that was working with the psychiatrist?
