Hi, I hate doing this stuff, but I guess I owe everyone an apology for disappearing. A lot has happened since I last tried to get back here and I feel like I'd do a disservice if I'd explain it here like it's nothing- since a lot of people got hurt, me included- and looking at this profile has been like being stabbed lately.. I tried sitting down to answer messages but my inbox is filled with hate I don't think I deserve, regardless of everything- cause the hate in question wasn't just harmless sentences or telling me to deactivate- but purposely targeted personal stuff that whoever wrote it knew what they were doing..

All of this to say that I will put this account on rest until I can figure out how to deal with this emotionally, I'm up for roleplaying on discord in case someone is still interested- though I highly doubt- and I will be "active" on main if anyone wants to talk or stay in contact, my dms are always open.

I don't want anyone to get any hate, reason why Im not saying names or talking about what happened specifically in respect to everyone involved, so please as always keep in mind to practice kindness towards everyone.

I want more Star Wars.

Which some might say is foolish to wish for, considering the exponential growth and release of Star Wars content since the early 2010s.

If that’s what you’re thinking, my answer is this: our definitions of Star Wars are very, very different.

I want more of the blue light on Luke’s face as his father’s ghost appears before him, of the shifting of the sky as The Chosen One brings the Force to its knees. Of the small smiles of masters and padawans exchanging bows, of soldiers and commanders exchanging salutes. Of Obi-Wan speaking of the parents he hardly met and the brother whose face he’ll never know, avoiding the crack forming in his voice. Of the orphaned farmhand who became the galaxy’s greatest hero by deciding he would rather die than make his father’s mistakes.

Of Jyn and Cassian holding onto each other in their final moments. Of Vader’s birth and Padmé’s death occurring simultaneously. Of clones firing at a Jedi whose pattern is painted on their helmets. Of Rex retiring his shovel, and Ahsoka letting her lightsaber fall from her fingers and clatter on the ground. Of Vader pocketing it years later. Of a farmer and a princess meeting in the woods, speaking of the mother they never knew, buried with their father’s gift laced between her fingers.

To me and so many other people, Star Wars isn’t about people picking up their weapons, but throwing them to the ground. It’s not about the destruction of the Death Star, but the festivities that followed. It’s not about the wage of war, but the pursuit of peace.

“You already have, Luke.”

Star Wars isn’t guns and spaceships. Star Wars is a story, a place, a feeling. It’s something people can’t describe, can’t put a finger on, can’t label or put into a box. I don’t want an action movie. I don’t want a blockbuster. I want Star Wars.

ok so the smallant and pointcrow divorce arc is over! eric originally got me in the split but with how grayscaled the situation was I'm very glad they worked things out and he apologized properly to tanner. now time for me to be the complete opposite of a rational and mature adult about this and immediately begin championing for a tanner/eric renaissance in fandom!

So when you are painting there's some common advice that you ought to paint on the whole canvas at once.

That means you lay down a background color, block out forms and local colors and then gradually refine everything, moving around a lot so you can always see how the part you're working on relates to the stuff around it. The opposite (the "bad" thing to do, according to this advice) is to start on one area and work it to completion before moving on, finishing a hyper-detailed eye in the middle of an otherwise white canvas, for example. Do that, and when you try to do the other stuff you might realize the eye is 3 inches to the left of where it ought to be, and you have to paint the whole thing again.

In writing terms, the equivalent advice is to write an entire first draft before you go back and edit. Block out the story, don't worry about how "good" it is because it's not supposed to be detailed correctly yet, it's just supposed to be words on the page so you can get an idea of how everything fits together. Editing too early can lead to stuff like writing a very beautiful scene that you'll have to cut later because it doesn't work with bigger plot adjustments you make later, which can be very frustrating and discouraging for newer writers. Or it can lead you into an "editing loop" where you're flitting around changing stuff to make it "perfect" without having a good idea of what perfect even means for this story, because you don't know enough about it to know what it needs.

Here's another piece of art advice, though: before you do the "real" painting, do a practice painting. On a smaller canvas, maybe, and it's not a *bad* idea to block out the whole thing first the way you might with the real one, but the point of a practice painting is not to paint the real thing smaller, the point is to fuck around with the hard and interesting parts of the painting so you know exactly what you're getting into before investing a lot of time and energy into the big thing. So if you don't feel confident in your eye anatomy? Go all out practicing those eye details without worrying about if it's in the right spot or matches the other eye. Not sure what colors you want to use? Try a bunch on this canvas. Change things, paint over stuff indiscriminately.

In writing terms: "edit the hell out of it."

Anyway, one of the great things about writing is that words are very easy to move, which means that it's a simple thing for writers to do a practice version of a scene right in the middle of a document titled "final draft." And while you definitely ought to be aware that if you start editing early you might not get to use the result, that doesn't mean you *shouldn't* edit if doing so feels interesting, useful, or educational to you in the moment.

All writing makes the story better. Some of it just happens to make it better in the "closer to being done" way and some of it makes it better in the "written by a technically skilled and/or experienced writer" way. So... don't get too precious or bothered about whether your desire to edit before finishing a draft is "legitimate" or not. Slow down and play if you want to. Practice in the same document you execute in. Heaven forbid you have to delete something. Heaven forbid you finish later because you spent extra time honing your craft.
