Premise: Suspicious deaths were a common occurrence in Beacon Hills—especially after things seem to be actually looking good when a previous problem is fixed. Now Scott and the pack are having to investigate a string of murders happening that not only reek of supernatural, but linked to an renowned event they’ve learned in history class.
Note: I’m hyperfixating on Titanic as of late so I have a lot of ideas involving AU’s and retelling with various fandoms. I just did a TGM au with Bradley Bradshaw and currently have a Twilight one in the works so expect a lot of Titanic in my works when I’m not writing requests.
————————————
Riddles were a tricky little thing. And when used in a malevolent way where to find the answer to a solution one must crack the code, riddles can become a person’s worst enemy.
And the one laying on the table of Derek’s loft was becoming their enemy.
Murders, which was becoming a common occurrence lately in Beacon Hills, were happening where the people were nearly drained of their blood by cutting their throats and wrists before letting them hang upside down. Stiles' father was overwhelmed with stress. Not to mention he was having to come to terms with the reality his town was a beating heart for supernatural creatures. Like how his sons best friend since childhood was a fucking werewolf.
And while it was presumed a human serial killer was responsible for the murders, the pack had an inkling it was more sinister. Investigating on their own they found more suspicious reasons to believe it was supernatural.
Only problem, they had no clue who or what it was.
They were all gathered over the table—save for Peter who was nestled on the couch. Stiles was rubbing a thumb over his lip, becoming frustrated as he was usually on top of solving riddles. Lydia was beside him, deep in thought as she read over the paper silently.
“He just left this here?” Scott glanced at Derek, who was standing with his arms crossed on the opposite side of the table.
“Right outside the door. Like he wanted us to find it.”
“And you heard nothing?” Stiles’ question earned him a glare. “Super hearing and you didn’t hear someone stabbing a piece of paper into your front door?”
“If I did you think I would’ve let him leave the damn note?” Derek spoke harshly.
“Riddle.”
“—knowing all it is is a distraction so he can kill more people.”
“It’s not just a distraction,” Allison interrupted the two bickering, staring hard at the note. “It’s an order. He’s asking us to find someone.”
“Yeah,” Isaac scoffed, “who we have no idea is.”
“Read it again,” Scott sighed, running a hand through his hair. With a huff, Stiles took the paper in his hands, clearing his throat before reading aloud for all to hear.
Have you figured it out yet?
Were my clues not enough?
You’re thinking too hard now,
Let me show you it’s not so tough.
Our faces the same,
As they were the day we changed.
Only the eyes no longer its color,
A price for the exchange.
You’ll find it almost disheartening,
When you learn of what we do.
Our nature is uncanny,
But it’s not so far from you.
Find the one I’m looking for,
And I’ll stop the chaos and the pain.
Are you ready?
Here’s your hint.
Time is of the essence,
So you better make it quick.
Wearing the Heart of the Ocean,
She’s closer than it seems.
For I seek the one I turned,
Who was on the Ship of Dreams.
Silence fills the loft, everyone thinking hard of what it could mean. There were so many clues but so vague it was difficult to puzzle them together.
“Well we know it’s someone supernatural,” Isaac hummed, attempting to lighten the situation.
“Yeah we got that genius,” Peter muttered.
“And he’s looking for a woman,” Allison added, ignoring Peter’s sarcasm. “Someone he turned. And was on a ship?” It comes out more like a question, “that could mean a lot of things.”
“Could it be a werewolf?” Scott turned to Derek
The man shook his head, “I don’t think so.”
“But the thing about the eyes—.”
“Many shapeshifters' eyes are like ours. That doesn’t mean it’s a wolf. Plus he said they’re not wolves.”
“How do you know?”
Derek rolls his eyes as though it were obvious, “he wrote, ‘our nature is uncanny, but it’s not so far from you,’. If they were wolves he would’ve said so.”
“Maybe another Kanima?” Allison suggested, “the master looking for his puppet?”
Stiles cuts in, narrowing his eyes on the last verse, “Why would he bold the first and last line of the last clue—these ones,” he places the paper flat on the table. Lydia, the closest to him, leans in as his finger points to the verse. “Heart of the Ocean and the—.”
“Ship of Dreams,” she finishes, voice going low as realization hits her. All eyes turn to her, confusion in their gaze until the name leaves her lips. “Titanic.”
“What?” The question came from Scott, but all were thinking the same. There’s no way she was talking about the most famous shipwreck in history.
“Titanic,” Lydia repeated, this time more confidently. Her own finger came up to point where Stiles' finger had been. “They used to call it the Ship of Dreams.”
“Titanic?” Isaac’s tone was full of doubt. “You mean the ship that sank a century ago?” He couldn’t help but add, “And the movie Leonardo DiCaprio dies in.”
She rolls her eyes, “I don’t recall any other having the same name.”
“The anniversary is coming up,” Derek starts to say, deep in thought like it was all coming together. “It would make sense.”
“Wait—hold on,” Stiles lifts a dramatic hand. “We’re talking about THE Titanic—like Isaac said—that sank a hundred years ago. A hundred,” he repeats to show his point. “Anyone who is alive—even if they were a werewolf or shapeshifter or whatever the hell you want to call it,” he glances at each of them, “would pretty much be on their last breath of life. If this woman were a newborn baby at the time she’d be at least one hundred years old by now.”
In the debate none had noticed Peter moved from the couch to the window. The chuckle leaving his mouth caught their attention. Stiles makes a sound, “I’m sorry, do you wanna share with the class what you obviously know that we’re missing?”
“Our faces are the same,” he says the opening line of the second verse, only drawing confusion and annoyed looks from the others. “As they were the day we changed.” The man pauses, letting it sink in before continuing, “If the woman he’s looking for was on Titanic then she likely was an adult. Considering he turned her, probably by saving her from freezing to death or drowning, and she wears the same face she did the night she was turned…” Peter steps away from the window, now facing the group.
“She’s not aging. At all. Meaning…..she’s immortal.”
The silence following his confession is eerie, eyes flicking over each other to see if they were reacting the same. Immortal. Though the term was familiar it felt almost foreign. Never had they dealt with someone immortal. Unable to die and was walking the Earth acting as though they were human. Now Beacon Hills had two in its possession. They needed to work fast and the riddle only had pieces of the puzzles.
So who—or more like what, was immortal?
"What are you getting to?” Scott narrowed his eyes, Wanting a straightforward answer to what they were dealing with.
Peter clasps his hands behind his back, slowly inching forward,” It’s not shapeshifters you’re looking for.” He takes a step closer, “or a Kanima and its master.” Another step, “or a dark Druid.” Another step brings him right next to Derek, eyes flicking to the paper. “There are few creatures blessed with immortality—or cursed if you look at it another way. But most of them are born with it. Take Gods and fairies for example.”
“Oh my God—those exist?” Stiles feels his mind implode, “Are we about to fight Gods?”
“No,” annoyed at being interrupted Peter rolled his eyes. “I just said those are immortals that are born with their powers. And I don’t know if they exist, I’ve haven’t met one yet. Anyway, this one—.” His finger touches the riddle, “was turned. And likely the person who did was too.”
“So what is it then,” Scott was becoming impatient. And who could blame him really. For all they know it someone was already being drained of their blood at that very moment. “What’s the immortal that’s turned not born?”
“Come one,” he scoffs, like he couldn’t believe they hadn’t figured it out. “Ever wonder why the victims were drained of their blood?” The one question had everyone's face become colorless. “Has Stiles's father not caught on the wounds were made after they were dead?” Why their throat was slashed….but had two little puncture holes on either side?” Peter glances around at every person, catching the nervousness of their gaze as though they already knew what he was about to say but wished it wasn’t.
“The creatures you’re looking for…..are vampires.”
The rest of the night the pack was gathering as much information as they could about the passengers aboard Titanic—all 2,240 of them—while also trying to figure out any other clues within the riddle. They still couldn’t believe it was a vampire responsible for the murders. And that he was hunting someone he created who, still to their shock, was a passenger aboard Titanic.
And with 2,240 people on the ship during its ill fated maiden voyage…they were in for a long night.
“Okay so we know they’re vampires—our killer is the one who turned the woman he’s searching for into a vampire. She was on Titanic when it sank meaning—,” Stiles wrote furiously across the notepad, the riddle next right beside it. “He was on it too. Now we could narrow this down several ways. Either by searching through the passengers class or going through who survived because as Lydia pointed out,” the hand holding the pen points to the redhead, “RMS Carpathia recorded the names of the survivors before they reached New York.”
Either method was good, but there was a problem with the latter. As Allison pointed out, “but what if they never knew she was there? I mean having a newly turned vampire on a ship filled with people is a recipe for disaster.”
Derek nods, agreeing with her, “Her eyes would’ve made it obvious.”
“How so?” Asked Isaac.
Peter is the one to explain, “Vampires in our world are different from what you see on TV. They aren’t these pale, corpse-like, individuals who look like they belong in the morgue. They’re rather human-like if they’re equipped with a special glimmer that allows them to come off as mortal.”
“Glimmer?” Lydia raised a brow, finding the word a bit comical given the creature they were dealing with.
“We’ll get to that. But any vampire who’s newly turned will have red eyes—blood red eyes.”
“How fitting,” Stiles couldn’t help but groan. “So what, are you saying she’s likely wearing contacts to hide her eyes.”
“Possibly,” Peter hums with a shrug, “wouldn’t be surprised if she is. This day in age makes it easier for vampires to conceal their nature. But considering our little vampire was turned in 1912…her creator probably hid her on the Carpathia—or as outrageous as it sounds, swam her across the remainder of the Atlantic ocean.”
Derek closes the book in front of him, detailing the events of the RMS Carpathia rescue of Titanic’s passengers. “However he saved her can wait,” he leans his hands onto the table, “We need to figure out the last clue of this riddle.” Moving the riddle to him, Derek reads, “Wearing the Heart of the Ocean, she’s closer than it seems.”
Lydia bites her lip, typing away on her laptop. “If I didn’t know it any better…it sounds like he’s trying to reference a piece of jewelry. Probably a necklace or something.”
Peter rubs his jaw deep in thought, “That could be the source of her glimmer.”
“The necklace?” Stiles wonders aloud.
“Usually most vampires would prefer a ring or bracelet,” he waves a hand, “It’s small and concealable. Very easy for a Druid to enchant the item and allow the vampire to give off the effect to other supernatural beings they’re human. Prevents them from being obliterated by the sun. That’s their glimmer. Sealed within the jewelry to act as a camouflage. So long as they have it on,” he shrugs lightly, “you’d never know what they truly are.”
“And she’s been passing off as a human in Beacon Hills. For God knows how long,” Lydia opens a separate browser, hands hovering over the keyboard. “If her necklace has a name like Heart of the Ocean it shouldn’t be too hard to find. We find the Heart of the Ocean, we find her.” Her words have Allison come over beside her, realization crossing her face.
“Isn’t that the name of the necklace Rose wore in the movie?” Right as she finished her sentence, the image popped up on the screen of said necklace after Lydia typed the name into Google. “So it was real after all?”
“Appears to be,” Lydia was just as amazed. Stiles leans over her other side, eyes bulging at the sight of the large blue heart-shaped diamond surrounded by tiny little white ones.
“That’s gotta be worth a billion dollars.”
“350 million to be exact,” Lydia reads off. “At least today it is. Back then it was worth probably not even a quarter of that price—but still big for its time.”
“So…” Isaac taps his finger to his mouth, glaring up at the ceiling from where he was seated, legs perched on the table. “We’re looking for a vampire—probably at least 120 give or take a few years—who is passing off as human because of a magic necklace worth more than our entire lives. Wonderful.”
Scott takes a glance, letting out a whistle, “That had to have belonged to a first-class passenger. I’d say we start there.”
“On it,” Lydia begins to search records of the names aboard Titanic with First-class tickets. While she’s doing that the pack gathers to the makeshift board Stiles had created, adding notes to it as they go.
Stiles tapes the new information on the necklace to next to the verse on the copy of the riddle they made. “Heart of the Ocean a.k.a the magic necklace making the vampire appear human. To be honest, if someone were wearing a necklace that extravagant in Beacon Hills it’d be noticeable.”
Scott agreed, “She’s probably keeping it under her clothes. I mean I would. Lydia, did you find anything on who it belonged to?”
The redhead makes a huff, “from what the article says,” she clicks on a link, “it belonged to American socialite Y/n L/n as a gift from her husband Theodore Ford on their wedding day. He had it custom made overseas on a trip to France.” Lydia’s eyes widened at the next line, “She was the niece of John Rockefeller and he was the nephew of Henry Ford.”
“Good God,” Stiles made a sound, many of the others showing a similar reaction. “What a match made in heaven…and money.”
“Great,” Peter plops onto the couch, “our vampire was a once billionaire socialite—well maybe not billionaire. That’s a far reach. Since she was only the niece of Rockefeller and her hubby was a Ford she probably only had a snippet of their families fortune.” The man rolls his neck, hands clasped on his lap with his legs kicked up. “She shouldn’t be too hard to find then. All we need is a picture.”
Derek gives his uncle an annoyed look, “We don’t if it’s her or not. Maybe the necklace was stolen by her creator and that’s how she got it.”
“What else does it say?” Allison turns her attention back to her best friend. In her head she couldn’t help but feel there was something missing. That they were so close to the answer.
Lydia continues on, “It says here that they married in 1901–Y/n aged nineteen and Theodore aged twenty-one. They had a son, Benjamin, born 1905 and Theodore died six years later in 1911 from a car accident.” She scrolls down a bit, brows furrowing a tad and makes a sound of ‘eureka!’ “Y/n was gifted two First-Class tickets for her and her son aboard Titanic by her uncle John Rockefeller. They boarded the ship during Titanic’s first stop to Cherbough, France….survivors of Titanic recall last seeing Y/n place her son Benjamin into a lifeboat before being denied entry since it had reached maximum capacity,” a feeling of heartbreak fills the redhead, soon followed by defeat as she reads “It is believed Y/n L/n drowned as the ship submerged beneath the surface on April 15, 1912, as her body was never recovered as one to have perished from hypothermia in the freezing waters. Nor was she listed on the records of survivors on RMS Carpathia. Her son Benjamin was soon taken in by her mother where he remained in New York City until his sudden death in 1918 by influenza.”
A moment of silence passes as they take in the information. For Allison and Lydia, they couldn’t help the sadness for the woman they didn’t even know. To have to say goodbye to your child, likely promising them you’d get on the next boat and would be reunited shortly, only to never see them again.
The redhead suddenly straightens her posture.
“What is it?” Scott hears her heartbeat quicken. Worry takes his features when Lydia appears as if she saw a guest. Everyone else looks the same when she brings a hand to her mouth. “Lydia?” There’s a slight tremor in her hand when she pulls it away.
“She’s closer than it seems.” She whispers the line from the final verse. Tone filled with near distraught.
Allison takes a hesitant step forward. From where they were all standing they could also see the light of the screen hitting Lydia’s complexion. Whatever was on it was hidden from their view. “Lydia…”
“I-I thought it meant that by finding the Heart of the Ocean we’d be able to spot whoever was wearing it. That we’d have to maybe knock on every door in Beacon Hills until we find whoever is hiding it—as stupid as that sounds. Because who in their right mind if they knew they were being hunted would just hide in plain sight? But….” her breath picks up, slight horror and astonishment as she stares back at the screen. “He knows where she is—h-he wants us to find her, because she can lead us to him.”
“Lydia….” Stiles slowly draws closer to her. Peter moves to stand from the couch, expression unreadable and as was Derek’s.
But Lydia’s eyes never move from the screen. “The riddle—it was just his game. He knows exactly where she is. He has to. Because she’s been under our nose all along—closer than we could’ve imagined.” Finally the redhead looks up to the anxious eyes of everyone, revealing the shocking truth with the slow turn of the laptop.
“She boarded Titanic as Y/n L/n,” the screen shows a sepia image causing Allison to gasp, Isaac to mutter ‘holy shit’, Stiles to drop his marker, and Scott to feel his stomach drop. Derek and Peter shared a look, Derek more anxious than his uncle. “But she’s been living as Loretta Andrews.”
There on the screen, listed as the socialite Y/n L/n and wearing the jaw-dropping necklace called the Heart of the Ocean, was a woman whose face the teenagers had seen every Monday to Friday for the last three months. Who looked no older than the age of 30 like in the picture and had arrived in Beacon Hills shortly before the spring semester.
Their English teacher, Loretta Andrews.

Stiles: Like rip it in two?
Y/N: Something like that. Besides you gonna need all the help you can get.
Scott: Guess we’ll take it. You might be right about help, but said your pack. Are they like you?

Lydia x Brother!reader - trust you
Tumblr media
Lydia Martin X Brother!Reader (if ok? If not, could I request it be sibling!reader instead please?) Who has ADHD and has an interest in supernatural creatures, and Lydia has always gone to him for advice on any new threats, but when R is attacked by a monster Lydia is both worried and feeling guilty for not telling R about the supernatural world being real, but assures R that her and the pack have his back? Sorry for it being long! - Anon💜
Sitting in your room, you tapped your pen against the book in front of you as you scrolled through the webpage on your computer.
You were noting things down about druids, a current fascination of yours.
You were curious about supernatural creatures, you didn’t care that they were myths, you simply just loved learning about them, the lore behind them.
And right now you were down the rabbit hole of druids and the lore behind them, there was is much to read and learn, you hadn’t realised you had been at it nearly all day until your sister came in.
“I have a question about banshees.”
You blinked, shaking your head a little as you looked up at your sister, turning your chair around to look at you properly as you kicked your feet up on the desk.
“Go for it Lydia.”
“Well, what exactly do they do?”
“I suppose it depends on the country and the lore, some say they can predict death, when they sense or know someone is close to death the scream. It can be said that if you hear a banshee scream, you or someone close to you will die soon.”
She nodded her head, asking a few more follow up questions.
You happily answered them all, unaware of her muted phone in her pocket with the rest of her friends listening to the conversation.
When she seemed happy with everything, she smiled at you and stood up, hugging you lightly.
“Thank you!”
“Welcome, but you’ve reminded me I haven’t eaten all day so I’m going to grab some food, want anything?”
“Oh can you bring me some rice from that really nice place you go to?”
“Absolutely!”
You jumped up and tossed a hoodie on, pulling some shoes on and left your room only to go back to grab your car keys and leave.
Lydia had left just before you so you locked up the house and began to drive across the town to your favourite takeaway.
Tapping your fingers on the steering wheel, you glanced in your rear view mirror for a split second, and when you looked to the road again you slammed on your breaks.
Your car screeched to a halt and you quickly jumped out, rushing forward to make sure you hadn’t hit the person who just appeared in the middle of the road.
“Are you insane?!” You yelled.
You walked around the front of your car and furrowed your brows a little, looking around.
There was no one there, but you were sure that you had seen someone.
So, you did one last check and turned around, and the last thing you remembered was glowing blue eyes.
It was Noah who found you, he had a report of a car abandoned in the middle of the street, and he went to investigate and he just happened to see you in the edge of his headlights.
You were rushed to the hospital and into surgery, and he immediately called Stiles to tell your sister.
The whole pack were at the hospital, Stiles, Scott, Derek, Peter, Alison, Lydia, Noah and Melissa who had just finished her shift.
“Oh god.. we.. I.. I should’ve told him…” Lydia sobbed.
“You were trying to protect him..” Scott whispered.
“And now he’s dying!” Lydia snapped.
“Hey, hey he’s not dying. They said he’s doing really well, just another hour at most until they’re done.” Melissa said.
Lydia kept blaming herself and they did everything they could to try and reassure her.
At her request, one of the werewolves stayed with you at all times to keep you safe, mostly Derek or Peter.
And a few days later you woke up, in pain and groggy.
“Well hey.”
You looked to your side, brows furrowed a little.
“Mrs… McCall…?”
“Give me a second alright, don’t move.”
You gave a small nod and she did some checks on you before helping you slowly sit up and rested you against the pillows.
“The sheriff is actually outside, do you mind answering a few questions for him?”
You weakly shook your head and she brought him in.
“Can you tell me what happened that night?” He asked.
You opened your mouth and closed it again.
“I… glowing..”
“Glowing?” He asked.
“Glowing.. eyes…”
The two adults shared a look and nodded to you, and you told them what you could remember which wasn’t much.
Melissa left to call your sister and parents, and Noah stayed with you, sitting on the end of your bed helping you ease your nerves by talking to you.
You had to stay in hospital for another week and you were finally allowed to go home.
You didn’t leave your room much, you stayed inside it, and it’s what you were doing now, standing in front of your mirrored wardrobe staring at your bare chest, the deep, jagged, pink scars going across it.
There was a knock on your door, and you looked towards it to see Lydia walking in.
“Do they still hurt…?” She asked quietly.
You shrugged a tiny bit.
“A little I guess.”
Grabbing your hoodie you tossed it on, and turned to look at her.
She had tears in her eyes.
“Lydia… come here.”
You walked over and hugged her tightly, and she sobbed.
“It’s all my fault!”
“You didn’t hurt me, it’s not your fault.”
“No! No I should’ve told you straight away!”
You pulled away and frowned at her.
“It’s why I was asking all those questions! Why I come to you asking weird questions because I know you know the answers!” She sobbed.
You placed a hand on her shoulder.
“Hey, hey tell me what’s going on? Why’re you blaming yourself?”
Lydia took a small breath and wiped her eyes.
“They’re real…”
You looked at her confused.
“Supernatural creatures are real…”
“Lydia you’re my sister, I love you most of the time, but did you hit your head.”
“No! I’m telling the truth! Just.. come with me.”
She grabbed your arm and dragged you to her car, and she drove you to a building you didn’t recognise.
She dragged you inside and you saw all her friends were stood waiting.
“Show him.” She said.
“Are you sure?” Derek asked.
“Show him please.”
They shared a look but nodded, Scott, Derek and Peter stood forward and you watched in horror as their eyes changed, faces changed.
Yellow, blue and red all staring at you, and you stumbled back into the door, dragging Lydia behind you.
You put yourself between them and her.
“They’re okay! They won’t hurt you!”
She slowly took you to the couch and they explained everything to you, and you were having a hard time processing it all.
But you just nodded along.
“So.. you’re all supernatural creatures…?”
“Me and Stiles aren’t.” Alison said.
You turned to Lydia.
“You’re… like them…?”
“No I’m a banshee…”
You just nodded your head and looked away.
“How can.. how can you feel so safe with them…?”
You mumbled.
Lydia reached out, placing her hand on your arm.
“They’re going to protect you I promise, you’re my brother, you’ve always been part of the pack.” She said.
“It was one of them that.. that did this to me…”
“It wasn’t them I swear, it was someone else we’re looking for them.” Stiles said.
You glanced at him.
“How can.. how can you feel safe with them..?”
“Because we’re trying to protect people.” He smiled.
You looked to your sister.
“I promise you, they have your back. We have your back. Okay? I promise.”
You looked at her, and glanced at the pack then turned back to Lydia.
You slowly nodded your head you weren’t sure what to think about all of this, but you trusted your sister so you wanted to trust her on this too

The Trifecta
Fandom: Teen Wolf Pairing: Stiles Stilinski x Male!Reader x Lydia Martin Summary: Jackson is confused about the sight he sees before him Word Count: 1,015
Tumblr media
Jackson looked confused, though no one really clocked in - it’s been years since they last saw him and he was the intruder of the group. Then again, the people before him are people he knows - well, some of them. He doesn’t know why he feels out of place but then watching the group in front of him baffled him.
"So, how did you and Ethan meet?" Scott asked, drawing Jackson's attention away from the trio, though it wasn't enough as Jackson stared at the Alpla mutely before his eyes lay back onto the trio.
"I'm sorry, when did this happen?" He spoke suddenly, even he was surprised to hear his own voice, "When did this become a thing?"
You looked up from your laptop as Stiles had his arms draped over your shoulders, resting his head on top of your head whilst Lydia was next to you, her head resting on your shoulder. If anything, the three of you were a tangled mess that just made sense. All three of you paused in your leisure searching to stare at Jackson.
"Huh?" Stiles asked, confused why Jackson was asking, "We've always been a thing."
"No, we haven't," Lydia corrected her boyfriend.
"Ah," You spoke up, ready to correct your girlfriend, "we've always been a thing in terms of having crushes on each other, but we've not been dating for that long."
"It's been like six months," Lydia says.
"Oh, if you think that's a long time, then I do wonder what years feels to you," You teased at her as she rolled her eyes, taking her head off your shoulder, but that made Stiles hug you closer to him as you fitted perfectly under him.
"It was a long time coming," Scott added, shrugging his shoulder as he sits next to Jackson.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Stiles asked, pretending to be offended, knowing full well that his best friend knew his ten-year plan to be the boyfriend of either Lydia or you, but Stiles shut up immediately when both his significant other stared him down.
"It was bound to happen," Scott clarifies, clearing his throat, "You three just draw to each other, like a moth to a flame, like I said it was a long time coming and that's not a bad thing."
"I think it's cute," Derek emerges from out of nowhere, "I mean look at them, "Lydia the brains, Stiles the emotions, and (Y/n) the brute."
"Thanks," You replied dryly at the comment from Derek.
"You know what I mean," Derek jabs back at you as you give him a smirk, rolling your eyes that he might have taken it to heart.
"I mean you are the main protector of your relationship," Malia spoke up next to Scott, massaging his shoulders, Scott sends an appreciative smile to his girlfriend, "Like how many times has Stiles gone to save Lydia and he got himself in a situation that you always come saving."
"Well, it's unsettling how it's happened more than once," You give your boyfriend a pointed look as he pouted back at you, causing both you and Lydia to chuckle at his reaction.
Jackson knew of Malia, Stiles' ex-girlfriend, he's heard a few stories here and there since he arrived back in Beacon Hills - he still wonders how Stiles managed to date her as well - perhaps Jackson is still imagining Stiles as this skinny boy he was when they were in high school together.
"But, how did it happen?" Jackson pressed on, as Lydia sighed.
"It's complicated," She replied honestly, before shrugging her shoulder, "How did you and Ethan get together?"
"It's complicated," Jackson replied, before realising, he nodded in defeat that no one really wanted to disclose what happened.
"I still think it's a dream," Stiles says after a few minutes of silence, he was squirming under the silence that he had to say something, "I mean, have you seen the two of them?"
Everyone make a noise of amusement and agreement before Stiles looked somewhat offended, he was hoping no one agreed to it, but come to think of it - he doesn't know how he managed to end up with the two most beautiful people he's ever met.
"Come on, Stiles," You softly tug him down into the seat next to you, "You're just as important in this relationship as Lydia and I."
You really did have a way with words that made both of your significant other smile to themselves. With that, everyone gathered that the conversation was done when Lydia gasped as she spots something on your laptop as you were scrolling.
Jackson was left to watch his ex-girlfriend, the guy he bullied and the guy he was always jealous of just work so well together. The three of you matched each other's energy so well, the three of you could keep up with each other. He watches as he sees Stiles starting to smile with a tease as he makes a loving snarky comment about Lydia's excitement about whatever was on your laptop.
He watches as Lydia had a spark in her eyes, ones he never received when he dated her, as she rambles the ears off her boyfriends' ears. You listen intently as you nodded along whilst Stiles was riling her up. He sees you smile to yourself and Jackson could see the fondness of your heart.
"Hey," Ethan says, rubbing his hand on his boyfriend's lap, the only person that could draw Jackson's attention completely somewhere else, "You okay?"
Jackson's happy, he found his someone and when he looks over your way, he's happy for the three of you for getting your happy ending. Even if it was a confusing combination, he could see how content and loving each person in the relationship was.
He sits back, gazing upon his old friends and new friends, who accepted him so quickly, he sighs happily being in a pack again. He looks at his boyfriend with loving eyes and a smile to make him swoon.
"Yeah, I'm okay, I'm more than happy about where we are now."

Very Public
Requested by: @freyamikaelsonlover
Pairing: Lydia Martin x fem!reader
Genre: Smut
Characters: Lydia, Y/N
Description: Y/N and Lydia are on a shopping trip. When they are in the dressing room of a clothes store, Lydia takes advantage of the privacy that they have.
Tumblr media
You were very excited for the shopping trip with Lydia. With all of the supernatural goings on in Beacon Hills recently, you both found it hard to spend time with each other. That’s why this shopping trip was so important; it would give you both that much needed time together.
“You ready?” Jiggling the car keys in your pocket, you turned to Lydia as she grabbed her coat from the rack by the front door. She nodded her head and walked out the door, you following quickly behind.
__________________
Your hands were filled with bags full of clothes and nick nacks from the various shops you had visited. They were beginning to ache from the ever-growing pressure the bags were giving you when Lydia excitedly pulled you into another shop.
“C’mon, babe. This is the last one, I promise.” You rolled your eyes. “That’s what you said about 3 shops ago.” She gave you her best puppy dog eyes that she knew you couldn’t resist. “Oh, alright. But this is definitely the last one, my hands feel like they’re going to fall off.”
You both began rifling through the clothing racks, picking out different outfits to try on. There was one dress that caught your eye that you knew you had to have. Taking your bags with you, you both made your way into the dressing rooms and squeezed into the same one.
You had to admit you both being in tight quarters made your heart flutter a little and a small heat beginning to rise in your stomach. Lydia must have felt the same as you seen her looking you up and down, licking her lips. Your breathing began to get faster as the tension in the room grew and grew.
You both began to get undressed to change into the clothes you wanted to try on, however, you didn’t get that far as Lydia pushed you up against the wall of the dressing room and pressed her lips against yours, her tongue asking for permission.
You granted it and she began to explore your mouth, pressing you harder and harder against the wall. Your hands began to explore her body, gently caressing her padded breasts. She let out a gasped sigh and freed her breast, allowing you to massage it. A soft and quiet moan escaped her lips as your hand moved slow and firm against her.
Lydia bent her head back in a moan which allowed you to attack her neck, leaving purplish blotches on her cream skin. You caught her lips once more and your tongues began to fight for dominance. Lydia won and she began to run her hands up and down your body, stopping just above your underwear which caused a surge of heat to run through you.
A soft groan left your lips as Lydia slowly knelt down on her knees and hook her fingers through your underwear, pulling them down. A shiver ran down your spine as the cold air attacked your heat. She gave a smirk before slowly leaning up and licking a stripe across your cunt. You covered your mouth and let out a loud groan as Lydia began to eat you out, licking your juices.
Her tongue found your clit and began to flick it. The familiar feeling began to build up in the pit of your stomach and Lydia could tell that you were close. “Cum on me, Y/N. Cum all over my face.” Her tongue entered your hole and began to flick in and out, faster and faster. As you tried to hang on, the feeling in your stomach had gotten tighter until you just let go, Lydia licking up all of your juices.
She stood up and her face glistened in the light. “This is all you, baby.” She leaned in and gave you a slow and passionate kiss before getting dressed. “Whadd’ya say we continue this back at my house?” Almost immediately after you flung your clothes on, not caring that your top was inside out, grabbed your bags and left the store, dragging Lydia behind you.

Imagine: Waking up Derek from a Nightmare
Tumblr media
***Spoilers from the movie! I will try to limit it ************* Imagine: Derek having a nightmare (no proof reading sorry)
you told Derek Not to Eat Cheese before bed! it always Gives him nightmares. And Derek isn't like a typical Guy. who if they have a nightmare they other hug their pillows try. a few whimpers. and move around. but Derek. you have Shot out of bed after hearing him Growling. in his Sleep, ruined pillows from his nails Digging into it so tightly. and he's Very Sweaty when he's having a nightmare. sweating so much that you are forced to wash them in the morning. Last time he had a nightmare. you weren't expecting him to put you into big bear hug. and tangled h's legs around you and arms squeezed you tightly. you didn't sleep that night between him squeezing you so tightly you could barely breath. to him rumbling and softly growling in your ear. you had to wake him up. after 3 hours. of trying to escape his grip. thankfully he doesn't have nightmares as much anymore. they settled down after a few years together
But Stupid beloved Derek! the Love of your Life. had to hav a snack before bed! And it had to be cheese! your family convinced you that they give you nightmares. No scientist proof but you were convinced that it was the truth. So you always stir away from Cheese. and you try to make sure he doesn't eat it before bed. But Derek didn't put much faith in the superstition in your family's belief. had some cheese.. you cursed at him for having cheese. which Derek mainly did to see you get annoyed at him. he loved annoying you.
it was Late at night and Derek Flung from the Bed cursing loudly as he looked around the room. seeing Everything was in place. the room was Tidy minus the Chair of Doom that he called it which always is full of random junk. both his and yours. the photo of him and he's beloved on the dresser, next to the photo of him and Eli , next to the photo of you pushing Derek face away as you hug Eli tightly at his birthday a few years ago. Derek loved that photo. Eli loves you almost as much as he does. the lights were off and the sky was still dark as you spoke softly, "I told you No cheese idiot."
Derek had tears in his eyes as you reached over rubbing his back, pulling him back down as you wrapped your arms around him "what was it?"
"Lydia Left Stiles."
you rubbed your face on his chest getting a bit comforter on the bed as you squeezed him tightly, " I'm pretty sure that if that was the Case.. Stiles would Probably hold her prisoner.. I mean what was that saying he said when we were- well I was a kid."
"I'll be her second husband. because the first one mysteriously disappeared." Derek added as you chuckled as you nodded your head, "I talked to Lydia this afternoon. she was about to tell Stiles she was pregnant." Derek smiled brightly as he wrapped his arms tightly around you as he spoke, "The Nogitsune was back.'
"and Stiles turned into void again?" you questioned but he shook his head, "no- No but it was something abotu.. it turning into a hybrid werewolf thing... the dream is- im forgetting it."
like most dreams you forget most if it once you wake up. you kissed his bare chest. "I'm pretty sure the Nogitsune can't be more then what it. remember when Scott had to bite Stiles cause it cant be a fox and a wolf? just a bad dream."
"I died... I Died."
that made you move as you asked how as he said , "sacrificing myself to save everyone." could see him doing. you shook your head, "you Try that and I'll bring you back and lock you in the basement myself. you aren't leaving us." he smiled as he spoke, "Alison was alive. and I was helping Eli with his gifts.'
"How did Alison look? still 15?"
'No.. she looked older. it was weird."
"because you ate -" you were coating him to finally accept the truth.. Cheese before bed gives you weird nightmares.
"bad dreams.. yea.. yea. thank god that wasn't real."
"God could you imagine if Lydia just broke up with him? that poor bastard. would- we would probably have to watch him for like 48 hurs or something to make sure he didn't do anything stupid."
"Eli got the Jeep.."
"Stiles would kill our Son! he would fully murder him. and us for letting anyone touch that piece of junk."
you both laughed softly at that idea. seeing Stiles losing his Mind seeing someone else Driving his Jeep that he was forced to keep up here. cause he's work forced him to have a 'black vehicle" and he's light blue jeep was not acceptable. and his parking lot can only hold 2 cars. and between his and Lydia's the jeep had to be up here.
"he would kill us Alll."

Hello! Is it possible to request with Lydia Martin? The pack was walking together in the forest, the reader has been dating Lydia for a long time. So, the Reader felt something would be wrong, and for good reason. Because the next moment, a tree falls on Lydia (or you can come up with a situation yourself). The reader pushed Lydia aside, but she did not have time to jump away and was crushed. Waking up, the Reader sees Lydia sitting next to him and watching. Since werewolves recover quickly, I think Lydia decided to thank the Reader. Thanks!
Always

Summary: You will always protect Lydia, even if it puts you in danger in the process.
Warnings: Reader gets crushed with a tree, the L-word, like one innuendo, angsty-ish, fluffy otherwise.

---
In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best idea to take a walk in the forest while there was still a pack of Alphas coming after you and your friends.
When your best friend, Stiles, suggested you and your girlfriend join the rest of the group on a stroll, you immediately took him up on his offer. You were getting tired of having to be cautious about everything you do, and you needed fresh air.
Your girlfriend, Lydia, was a little nervous, but you promised that everything would be fine. If only you knew.
---
Walking through the forest you close your eyes and breathe in the clean, fresh air. Next to you, Scott and Isaac are wrestling with each other while trying to walk.
Laughing at their antics, you move towards them to join in. You notice Derek grumbling, muttering under his breath, “Children.” Suddenly, you hear a loud roar that makes you shift along with the other werewolves in the group.
Looking up at the outlook your group was approaching, you see the Alphas you had been trying to avoid. Deucalion’s pack. One of the twins glares at you, jealousy radiating off of him at the sight of the arm you have around Lydia.
“Thank you for coming to such a secluded spot. Easier to kill you all without any pesky witnesses.” Deucalion states. You glare up at him before turning to look at the non-werewolves behind you.
“Lydia, Allison, Stiles, I need you guys to get as far away from here as you can. We’ll hold them off for as long as possible.” Allison and Stiles nod and start to slowly back up. Lydia hesitates before grabbing your arm, making you turn back. She pulls you into a quick kiss.
You hear a loud growl, making you turn around. Seeing the twins combine makes your eyes widen in fear. Quickly, you push Lydia towards her best friend so she can get away safely.
As soon as he sees an opening, Isaac jumps at Kali. The two of them start fighting, prompting Scott to dive for Ennis. You call out to say, “I’ve got the twins!” Derek goes for Deucalion.
Suddenly, the twins dive over your head, and start running at Lydia, Allison, and Stiles. You quickly get up and run after them, hoping to at least drag them back to give your friends and girlfriend a better chance to get away.
Just as you are about to grab the twin-wolf, it veers away, heading towards a very dead tree that looks like it will fall any day now.
A little too late, you realize what they are about to do. You put your head down and push yourself to run faster. You just barely make it to the terrified group in time. Stiles and Allison make it far enough away to be okay, but Lydia is frozen in place right in the location the tree will hit.
Jumping forward, you hear a loud crack. Just as you shove your girlfriend out of the way, the massive tree comes down onto you.
It doesn’t hurt at first, and you realize you're pinned under the tree. Suddenly, the pain hits you all at once. Black dots swim in your vision, and you hear your girlfriend calling your name. She rushes to you quickly, and you realize you can barely hear her.
You vaguely gather that the Alpha pack is retreating because of the damage Isaac inflicted on Kali, and that Scott and Isaac both help to lift the tree off of you before rushing you to the hospital and to Melissa McCall. You quickly lose consciousness in Stiles’s Jeep.
---
When you regain consciousness, you try to sit up, only to get pushed back down by your very concerned and angry girlfriend.
You try to get on her good side by starting with, “Heyyyy, sweetheart-” but she shuts you down immediately.
“Don’t you dare ‘hey sweetheart me. You almost died! If you weren’t a fucking werewolf, you would be dead! You can’t fucking do that to me. I can’t lose you!” You notice she has started crying, so you pull her down into your arms.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry, Lyd. I just couldn’t let you get hurt. Also, I’m okay! I heal really fast. Yes, I do feel like I have the worst hangover ever, but I guess that's what happens when Alpha twins drop a tree on you.”
Lydia tearfully laughs at that. You both snap your heads up when you hear Melissa start talking. “I don’t even want to know how you know what a hangover feels like. Anyway, because you're a werewolf, almost everything is healed by now. You do need to keep those wraps on for a few days so your ribs can heal correctly.”
You nod in agreement before asking, “Does this mean I can go home today?” Melissa nods, exasperated. “You guys need to stop looking for danger. I can’t keep releasing kids with serious injuries within hours of them checking in. I’m going to lose my job.”
You laugh before getting up with help from your girlfriend. “C’mon, we’re going to my place. We can have some fun.” Lydia winks at you before walking off, swinging her hips.
You excitedly rush after her, pulling her towards her car.
---
“This is not what I thought you meant when you said ‘some fun’.” You state. You had sat down on your girlfriend’s bed, prepared for a lengthy makeout session, maybe even more, but instead your girlfriend had grabbed her computer and put on ‘The Notebook’.
Lydia just smiles at you before carefully curling into your side. You quickly relax, before muttering, “This is nice too.”
You look down at Lydia, who is already looking at you. “What? Do I have something on my face?” She just smiles at you softly before saying quietly, “No. I just… Thank you for protecting me. I didn’t say it before, and I wanted to now. And… I love you.”
You grin at her. “You love me?” She flicks you, blushing, before saying, “Yes, you doofus. I love you.”
You feel your heart fill with affection for the smaller girl. “I love you too. I love you so much, Lydia Martin.”

paper rings; lydia martin
"you have a record player?" suprised, i turn around to lydia. "uh, yeah. it's sort of a thing i got from my dad." i respond. she makes a unreadable face, almost like she regretted asking. my dad and i used to be really close. best friends even. i mean the only thing we didn't talk about was my love life, mostly because he used to get so embarrassing about it.
"you wanna listen to some music?" i ask.
"do you have any taylor swift?" lydia replies, probably because she knows it would put a smile on my face.
"lover?"
"sure." she tries to sound like she doesn't care, but i know her better than that. even if she doesn't wanna admit it she loves lover. specifically paper rings. i pull the record out, put it on the machine and press the play button.
"the moon is high..." as the music starts, i pull my hand out to her. she stands up from her spot on my messy bed. "wanna dance?" "with you? always." she lays her hand on top of mine as we sway to the music in my room. my right hand in hers, so we're holding hands. my left hand on her back, securing her body close to mine. i get lost in the way her strawberry blonde sways so beautifully, like she's perfect no matter what she does or what she wears.
"i'll never get tired of this." she mumbles from my chest.
"hm?" i question, when i know damn well what she means. i just want to hear her say. to hear her declare her love from me, again.
she sighs, dreamingly, "being with you. dancing with you in your room, while my head is on your chest and you're holding my hand." she says, while looking at me with heart eyes.
i'll never get tired of this, either - i think.
i kiss her softly as my way of saying that i feel the same way. we keep slowdancing, and getting lost in the moment.

‎ ‎‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇 School had an extremely calm aura about it in the days following the death of the mountain lion that was wreaking havoc on the town.  Although no one had admitted it, everyone was scared while the mountain lion was alive, but now that it wasn’t, everything seemed to return to normal.  Kat, Lydia, and Allison were sitting around a table in the cafeteria during lunch, quietly conversing about their homework and snacking on the blueberries on Lydia’s lunch tray.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was hunched over an old book, quietly muttering in French.  Kat shared a look with Lydia before asking, “What’s la Bête du Gévaudan?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Huh?” Allison asked, jumping slightly by being taken out of her trance so suddenly.  She quickly recovered, “Oh, uh, The Beast of Gevaudan.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Before Kat could question her further, Lydia asked, “The what of who?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The Beast of Gevaudan,” Allison repeated, excitedly looking at her friends, “Listen. "A quadruped wolf-like monster prowling the Auvergne and South Dordogne areas of France during the years 1764 to 1767.  La Bête killed over a hundred people, becoming so infamous that King Louie the Fifteenth sent one of his best hunters to try and kill it.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Boring,” Lydia commented, earning an eye roll from Kat as Allison continued.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of Satan.” Allison read, taking in the reactions of the girls around her.  Kat was pleased that Allison was happy reading it and intently listened, but Lydia wasn’t as invested.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Hmm, still boring.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was intent on changing Lydia’s mind and continued reading the book, “Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of a hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychid.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Slipping into a coma bored,” Lydia sighed, biting a single blueberry off her fork.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape-shift into a man-eating monster.” Allison wasn’t giving up, and although she loved her, Kat was also losing interest.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Alli, how does any of this have anything to do with your family?” Kat asked, brushing off Lydia’s glance that told her to keep quiet.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison quickly nodded, “This. "It is believed that la bête was finally trapped and killed by a renown hunter who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature.” His name was Argent.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Your ancestors killed a big wolf.  So what?” Lydia quipped.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Not just a big wolf,” Allison said, disregarding Lydia’s snide comments and sharing an exciting look with Kat.  She flipped the book around and showed the girls in front of her the picture on the page. “Take a look at this picture.  What does it look like to you?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat decided to play along and took a look at the picture.  The faint grin on her face fell.  In the background was a creature that looked like a wolf standing on its hind legs.  It was tall and brooding and instilled a deep fear in Kat.  What really shook her, however, was the deep red eyes.  They seemed to glow with hatred and evilness, genuinely scaring Kat.  She felt her heart drop.  Only one word came to mind.  Werewolf.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia’s voice drew Kat out of the trance she was in with her sarcastic words, “It looks like a big wolf.  See you beauties in history.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The redheaded girl smirked and stood up, leaving the table and taking the blueberries with her.  Kat looked at the brunette with her with a chuckle before they returned to their work.  The McCall girl was having a hard time focusing on her homework, and her eyes were drawn to her brother and his friends, who were having a heated discussion as Scott hid behind a history textbook.  Scott peeked his face out from the book and caught Kat’s eye.  He spazzed and blocked her view by ducking behind his book again.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat chuckled and shook her head, “Allison, do you know why my brother looks like he’s hiding from us?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison’s head shot up at the mention of Scott, and as soon as she looked up, Scott, Stiles, and Spencer were leaving the cafeteria.  Allison let out a long breath as she started gathering her belongings, “I don’t know, I think he’s avoiding me, and I don’t know why.  Scott!  Scott, wait!”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison ran after the three boys, leaving Kat alone at their table.  Kat chuckled and shook her head, turning the page in her textbook as she murmured, “And then there was one.”
Tumblr media
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Economics was surprisingly one of Kat’s favorite subjects.  She liked learning the different inner workings of the economy and the ease of the class.  Coach Finstock always somehow derailed the lessons to lacrosse, so it gave Kat the freedom of teaching herself.  As a slight control freak, she enjoyed that more than most students.  Kat was one of the first students to arrive, but more and more students started to trickle in.  Finally, Stiles walked in with Spencer and Scott trailing behind him.  He was headed to his usual seat behind Kat, but Scott was adamant about having Stiles sitting behind him.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Hey, Stiles, sit behind me, dude.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat watched as Stiles sent him a confused glance before he snatched his backpack from the desk he usually sat in and jumped across the aisle to steal the desk from Allison, who had quickly made her way to the desk.  Allison sent him a pleading look to let her have the seat and, Stiles being the nice guy he is, spared Scott an apologetic glance before retreating to the desk behind Kat.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat’s brows furrowed as she turned around to address Stiles, “What was that about?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles tried to blow it off as nothing, “Ah, nothing, really.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Didn’t look like nothing.” Kat said, lowering her voice as she leaned across his desk, “Why is Scott avoiding Allison?  Did something happen with them?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No!” Stiles loudly said, shaking his head. “No, uh, you know Scott.  He’s just weird about stuff, especially relationship stuff.  You know that.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat was completely unconvinced but didn’t get a chance to respond before all conversations in the classroom were cut off by Coach Finstock dropping a heavy book on his desk.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Let’s settle down.” Coach Finstock began, “Let’s start with a quick summary of last night’s reading.  Greenberg put your hand down.  Everybody knows you did the reading.  How about, uh . . . McCall.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Normally, Kat would have chuckled along at the daily dig at Greenberg, but something about that day just made her frown as she began to summarize the reading.  Finally, Coach Finstock cut her off, “Sorry, McCall, not you.  You always do the reading.  I wanna hear from the other one.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What?” Scott asked, caught off guard as he shared a look with Kat.  Kat shrugged and settled into her chair, giving her brother an encouraging look.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The reading.” Coach Finstock said, moseying around his desk to lean on its front as he looked at Scott.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Last night’s reading?” Scott asked, his heartbeat rising as he started to panic.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Coach Finstock shrugged, “How about, uh, the reading of The Gettysburg Address?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What?” Scott asked again as the class started to chuckle around him.  Kat scowled at the girl beside her, effectively quieting her as Coach Finstock continued to embarrass Scott in front of the class.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“That was sarcasm.  You familiar with the term “sarcasm,” McCall?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Very,” Scott answered, looking over his shoulder towards Stiles and Spencer, seated behind his sister.  Kat glanced behind her to see her brother’s friends smirk and wink at Scott.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Did you do the reading or not?” Coach Finstock asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Scott hesitated, “Um . . . I think I forgot.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Coach Finstock was not having his excuses, “Nice work, McCall.  It’s not like you’re not averaging a “D” in this class.  Come on, buddy.  You know I can’t keep you on the team if you have a “D.” How about you summarize, uh, the previous night’s reading?  No?  How about the, uh, the night before that?  How about you summarize anything you’ve ever read.  In your entire life.” Scott started to stammer an excuse, but Coach Finstock was getting too angry to let him speak, “No?  A blog?  How about, uh, how about the back of a cereal box?  No?  How about the “Adults Only” warning from your favorite website you visit every night?  Anything?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat wouldn’t stand for someone, especially a teacher, talking down to her brother like that. “Leave him alone, Coach!”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Was I speaking to you, Kat?” Coach Finstock rounded on Kat before refocusing on her brother. “Thank you, McCall.  Thank you.  Thank you, McCall!  Thank you for extinguishing any last flicker of hope I have for your generation.  You just blew it for everybody!  Thanks.  Next practice, you can start with suicide runs.  Unless that’s too much reading.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat cursed under her breath and gathered her books as she stood up and started to leave the classroom.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Now, where do you think you’re going, McCall?” Coach Finstock spit.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat whipped around with anger glowing in her eyes, “I’m going to report you for verbally abusing a student.  I’d be happy to make it two students if you want to degrade and humiliate me in front of the class as well.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Coach Finstock glowered at Kat before waving her off, dismissing her completely.  Kat curtly nodded and spun on her heel to leave the classroom.  The class watched her leave in shock, having never seen her react that way before.  She usually was quiet as Coach Finstock spoke however he wanted to his students, but today she couldn’t stand it.  Kat had been irritable all day, because of what she didn't know, but that was the last straw.
Tumblr media
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat must have fallen asleep when she got home because the next thing she knew, the moon was casting a milky light into her room, and her phone was ringing.  Kota whined and jumped off the bed to get away from the loud tones coming from Kat’s phone.  Kat sighed and rubbed her eyes as she answered the phone.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Hello?” Kat asked, clearing the grogginess from her voice.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Kat!” Lydia’s voice sharply said, “What are you doing right now?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat sighed, knowing that she wouldn’t get out of whatever Lydia wanted to do, “Nothing, just woke up from a nap.  What’s up?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Your brother bailed on Allison, so we’re going to pick her up and go bowling as a group.  Lexi’s already there with Spencer.  We’ll even go get Stiles if you want.” Lydia informed her, continuing so Kat wouldn’t have any room to argue, “So, come downstairs.  We’re parked outside.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat jumped up from her bed and looked out the window, seeing Jackson’s dark gray Porsche parked behind her SUV out on the street.  Kat hummed, “Alright, fine.  Give me ten minutes.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat hung up and flipped on the light in her room.  She glanced at herself in the mirror above her dresser and sighed, seeing the smudged makeup and tangled hair resulting from her nap.  She fixed herself up and grabbed a jacket before heading downstairs to put a scoop of food in Kota’s bowl and refill her water.  She made sure Kota would be okay for the night before kissing her on the nose and leaving the house, her phone and keys in hand as she made her way to Jackson’s car.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia jumped out and gave Kat a quick hug before they settled into the car and drove through Beacon Hills to the Argent household.  Kat was squished in the back, having no leg room left in the tiny backseat of the vehicle.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You know, this car is not meant for more than two passengers, Jackson,” Kat said, killing the silence in the car as she leaned up between the front seats.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Normally, there’s just Lydia and me, makes it much more intimate,” Jackson smirked, looking over at Lydia with a wink.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Disgust covered Kat’s features as she groaned, “I don’t want to know what you guys have done on this backseat; I’d rather keep my dinner in my stomach.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson chuckled and looked in the rearview mirror to give Kat an amused glance as Lydia called Allison.  They had turned onto her street.  As soon as Allison answered, Lydia put the phone on speaker and held it up.  Jackson spoke first.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Lydia says we’re coming to get you.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison let out an exasperated sigh, “Please don’t.  I’m sure he’s on his way.  He’s only . . . ” she trailed off, and Kat guessed she was checking the time, “ . . . twenty-six minutes late.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You hear that?” Lydia snapped, “First, it’s “he’s only twenty six-minutes late,” a month later, it’s “he only hits me when he’s drunk.” Slippery slope, Allison.  Slippery slope.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Don’t talk down on my brother like that, Lyds.” Kat sharply said, earning a groan from her redheaded friend.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“It was just an example.  Your brother’s too lame to drink.” Lydia said.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson decided to cut them off, “We’re picking you up, Allison.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No,” Allison insisted, but even Kat could hear the sadness in her voice.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Too late,” Jackson said as he pulled up to her driveway.  Allison glared at the car before letting out a huff and heading to the car.  Jackson rolled down his window as Allison came up beside his door, “Lydia gets what Lydia wants.  Come on, get in.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison’s phone beeped, and as she checked her phone, Kat’s vibrated in her pocket.  Lydia leaned across the center console with another sarcastic comment of her own, “Hmm, is that him with the best explanation ever as to why he’s half a freaking hour late?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Not exactly,” Allison shook her head, “He just texted me to meet him at the school.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Stiles texted me the same thing,” Kat said, showing her phone to everyone else in the car.  Jackson grumbled something about how Scott and Stiles were annoying as he got out of the vehicle and allowed Allison to squeeze into the backseat with Kat.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The ride to the school was uncomfortable, to say the least.  The two girls in the backseat of the Porsche were shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip, while Jackson and Lydia rode comfortably up front.  The conversation in the car wasn’t any more entertaining.  Allison and Kat quietly conversed in the backseat about what Scott and Stiles would possibly want with them at the school while the couple up front debated over going bowling or seeing a new movie.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson parked at the school, and as Allison and Kat climbed out of the backseat, Jackson asked what they were doing there.  Kat let Allison answer and show Jackson the text she had gotten as she looked over the vehicles in the lot.  Unsurprisingly, Stiles' blue jeep was parked in the lot, but an unfamiliar sleek black Camaro was parked behind it.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“They lock the doors at night, you know.” Lydia smartly said.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“That one’s open.” Allison pointed out, seeing that the main door to the school was propped wide open.  Lydia rolled her eyes and slumped in her seat, earning a giggle from Kat as she, Allison, and Jackson started walking towards the school.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You don’t need me to state the obvious, right?” Jackson said, looking at the girls with a grin.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“That it looks like they broke into the school?  No, pretty obvious.  And typical of them.” Kat answered, shaking her head and looking into the dark school with hesitation.  Why would they ask them to meet them at the school?
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson looked between the girls in front of him, “Do you want me to come with you guys?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat and Allison looked at each other and shrugged.  Allison hummed, “Mmm, it’s okay.  We’re pretty tough; we can handle ourselves.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The girls nodded and started heading towards the door before Jackson spoke up, “Hey, guys . . . ” Once the girls turned back to him, he paused, now self-conscious of what he was about to say.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison smirked, “You have this look like you were about to say, “be careful.””
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson recovered, slipping into his natural cool as he handed a flashlight to Kat, “I am.” Kat took the flashlight and glanced at Allison, knowing precisely what she was thinking.  It was nice to see Jackson concerned for someone other than himself.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What?” Jackson asked, earning a laugh from the girls in front of him.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“That concerned look on you, I’ve never seen it before.” Allison smartly said, smiling at Jackson.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, I am concerned,” Jackson said.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, it’s a good look on you, Whittemore,” Kat smiled.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison shone the flashlight on her face and lowered her voice, “Don’t worry.  We’ll be right back.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat and Allison laughed and jogged up the stairs to the door, now forgetting their fears of entering the high school at night.  They shared an amused glance as they quietly conversed and decided where to go to look for Scott and Stiles.  They wandered down the halls, peeking into classroom after classroom and coming up empty.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison decided to fill the silence that had stretched between them, “So, that thing you pulled in class with Coach was pretty major.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat shook her head and groaned, “I don’t even know why I did that, to be honest.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, I’m glad you did.  I’ve only been here for a few weeks, but I’ve wished someone would stand up to him since my first day.” Allison chuckled, nudging Kat’s shoulder with her own.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat sighed, “I sometimes question my sanity, you know.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison laughed, “Is that because of your snippy outburst in class or because we’re wandering around the school at night?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I hang out with Scott and Stiles almost as much as with you, Lexi, and Lydia.  Scott’s my brother, and Stiles is my, well, Stiles, and this is their idea of a fun time.  Leading two girls around a dark and creepy school for apparently no reason.” Kat explained, shaking her head as she chuckled, “Are we crazy for coming here?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison hummed, bobbing her head from side to side before shaking her head, “No, I don’t think so.  I think we’d be crazy if we split up.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Ah, shoot.” Kat grinned, “I was just about to suggest splitting up.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison giggled, but her smile slowly dropped, “We might find them faster if we did.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat agreed, “Probably.  You’ve got your phone, right?” Allison nodded and held it up.  Kat handed her the flashlight and grabbed her phone from her pocket, “I’ll take the upstairs, you’ll finish down here, and then we’ll call each other if we find them or come up empty-handed?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Sounds good,” Allison said, and with a quick nod to each other, the girls started walking down opposite ends of the hallway.  Kat had wound up in the science wing upstairs, suddenly bored and slightly disappointed that she hadn’t found Stiles or Scott yet.  It was like a bad game of Hide and Seek, and she wasn’t even sure she was seeking anyone.  Maybe the boys weren’t there at all.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat had reached the end of the hallway and still hadn’t found any sign that the Stilinski boy or her brother were at the school.  She sighed and started to dial Stiles' number to scold him for sending her and Allison to the school for no reason but decided against it.  She felt that argument was better suited to happen face to face.  So she instead dialed Allison’s number, grumbling as it rang.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Did you find them?” Allison asked as soon as she answered the phone.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, they’re not upstairs.  I honestly don’t think they’re here, Alli.” Kat sighed, starting back down the stairs to the main doors. “I’m gonna go back to the car.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yeah, I might, too,” Allison said, disappointment evident in her tone.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat frowned, “I’m sorry that Scott did this.  I don’t know what he’s thinking.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“It’s not your fault, Kat.” Allison quickly said. “C’mon, maybe by the time we get to the bowling alley, they’ll still be selling nachos.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat halfheartedly chuckled, “Yeah, maybe.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I’ll meet you in the lobby,” Allison said, ending the call promptly after.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat sighed and had just exited the stairwell when her phone rang again, Lydia’s contact picture appearing on the screen.  Kat swiped the answer button and immediately spoke, “Hey, we can’t seem to find them.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, then, let’s go.  I am thoroughly creeped out right now and would rather be bowling.” Lydia snapped.  Kat rolled her eyes and sighed.  She could hear Lydia argue with Jackson on the other end before she said, “We’ll be in the lobby.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yeah, give us a second, and we’ll be right there,” Kat said, hanging up the phone and pocketing it.  She rounded the corner that led toward the lobby as a set of doors slammed shut ahead of her.  She saw Scott and Stiles skid to a stop as Allison joined them from a different hallway.  Kat started jogging and caught Stiles' eyes.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The Stilinski boy spazzed and met Kat in the lobby, grabbing her arms and holding her close as he sharply asked, “What are you doing?  Why are you here?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What do you mean?  You asked me to come.” Kat said, yanking her arms out of his grasp as she narrowed her eyes at him. “Thanks for the incredibly creepy wild goose chase, by the way.  This is exactly what I wanted to do with my night.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I didn’t ask you to come,” Stiles insisted.  Kat went to argue, unconvinced by his word alone, but Stiles cut her off with wide eyes, “Trust me, I didn’t.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat’s heart dropped as she pulled out her phone, “You didn’t send me this text?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles read the text, and his face paled.  He shook his head, “No, I didn’t.  Did you drive here?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat looked back at Scott and Allison, fear settling into her heart, “No, Jackson did.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Jackson’s here, too?” Scott loudly asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yeah, and Lydia.” Allison quickly said, “What’s going on?  Who sent us these texts?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison’s phone started ringing before the boys could conjure up an excuse.  She answered it and asked, “Where are you?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎As soon as she asked the question, the door behind the group opened, revealing Jackson and Lydia.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Finally,” Lydia sighed, looking annoyed at each person around her. “Can we go now?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The group collectively nodded and started to head towards the exit when a loud thud was heard overhead.  Kat jumped, and if it were even possible, her heart dropped even lower.  The pipes creaked, and another thud was heard, somehow louder than the first.  She grabbed Stiles' hand out of fear, needing some form of comfort as the night took a drastic turn from slightly frightening to downright terrifying.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Run!” Scott suddenly shouted, and Stiles took off in the direction of the stairs, pulling Kat behind him as the group trailed after them.  A loud crash followed by one last thunderous thud sounded behind the group, and Kat glanced behind her to see a mass of black on the linoleum flooring surrounded by pieces of the ceiling.  She shrieked and allowed Stiles to lead her through the hallways leading towards the cafeteria.  Unlike any dog Kat had ever heard, monstrous barking echoed off the lockers.  The group ran faster than they ever had in their life and burst through the doors to the cafeteria, panting and shaking with fear and adrenaline.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Scott shut the doors and slid the bolts in place just as Jackson started to assist him in barricading the doors by moving a freezer in front of it and stacking chairs up on top of it.  Kat seemed to be shutting down, watching helplessly as the group worked to stop whatever had chased them into the room from reaching them.  Stiles stood beside her, still gripping her hand as he examined the room.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Scott, wait, not here,” Stiles suddenly said, but the only person listening to him was Kat.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was slowly starting to freak out as she asked Scott the question on everyone’s minds, “What was that?  Scott, what was that?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What came out of the ceiling?” Lydia shrilly asked, tears pooling in her eyes as she watched Scott and Jackson work.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Will you just help me?” Scott directed, ignoring their questions as he piled chairs onto the freezer.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Guys . . . ” Stiles drawled, losing patience as Kat’s head whipped around from the group to Stiles.  Stiles started speaking louder, “Can we just wait a second?  You guys, listen to me.  Can we wait a second?  Guys?  Stiles, talking?  Can we hang on one second, please?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat was slowly regaining feeling, almost like a computer restarting, and suddenly she was shouting to get the group’s attention, “Hey!”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The group jumped and stopped moving, focusing on Stiles and Kat.  Stiles gave Kat’s hand a gentle squeeze as he thanked her before returning to his sarcastic self, even in times of complete terror, “Okay, nice work.  Really beautiful job, everyone.  Now, what should we do about the twenty-foot wall of windows?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles dramatically motioned to the wall-to-wall windows behind himself and Kat, watching as everyone around him let their faces drop as they realized their next problem.  Kat felt like her throat was swelling with the anxiety coursing through her veins and stepped closer to Stiles, her free hand reaching up to wrap around his bicep as she tried to calm herself down.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was the first to speak, looking at Scott with wild and questioning eyes, “Can somebody please explain to me what’s going on because I’m freaking out here.  And I would like to know why.” Scott looked at her, jaw slacked, before disbanding from the group to lean on a table as he figured out what to say.  Allison’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion, “Scott?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles carefully watched the people around him and glanced down at Kat as he spoke up, “Somebody killed the janitor.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What?” Kat gasped, looking up at Stiles with horror covering her features.  She knew that everyone around her shared the same expression.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yeah, the janitor’s dead.” Stiles restated.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat started shaking her head and dropped Stiles' hand as she took a few steps back, “What are you talking about?  Stiles, this is a seriously messed up joke.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Who killed him?” Jackson asked, believing Stiles' words and moving to stand in front of the girls as if to protect them from Stiles.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, no, no,” Lydia started to murmur, “This was supposed to be over; the mountain lion killed -- ”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Don’t you get it?” Jackson snapped, “There wasn’t a mountain lion.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Who was it?” Kat asked, the revelation of information waking something inside her.  She was slowly separating herself from the emotions of the situation, becoming independent, and starting to rationally think.  If there was a way to survive this, she would think of it.  But she needed the information necessary to do it. “What does he want?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was starting to derail, becoming the opposite of Kat. “What’s happening?  Scott!”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎It was almost as if Allison’s voice broke his trance, and he stood up straight as he stammered an excuse, “I -- I don’t know.  I just . . . If we go out there, he’s going to kill us.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Us?” Lydia asked, disbelief and fear laced through her words, “He’s going to kill us?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Who?” Kat repeated. “Who is it, Scott?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The group stared at Scott as he struggled to develop any form of an answer.  Finally, he sighed and shook his head, still facing away from the group as he finally decided on what to say. “It’s Derek.  It’s Derek Hale.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat’s brows knitted together in confusion.  Derek Hale?  She hadn’t heard that name in years.  She remembered hearing the stories about how his entire family died in a fire ten years ago, but she never knew that he stuck around.  And now he was killing people?  Why?
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles' mouth dropped in shock as the news settled over everyone.  Jackson was in disbelief, much like the girls around him, as he asked, “Derek killed the janitor?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Are you sure?” asked Allison.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I saw him,” Scott insisted.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia still wanted to believe that it was an animal, “The mountain lion -- ”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No!” Scott cut her off, “Derek killed them.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“All of them?” Kat asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yes, starting with his own sister.” Scott continued.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The bus driver?” Allison asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“And the guy in the video store.  It’s been Derek the whole time.  He’s in here with us.” Scott quickly said, finally turning to the group, “And if we don’t get out now, he’s going to kill us, too.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The group once again fell into silence.  They stared at Scott with varying expressions, disbelief, distrust, fear.  It was beginning to become too much for Scott, and Kat could see it, so she decided to speak up with the most logical solution to their problem.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Call the cops.” Kat simply said.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No,” Stiles immediately answered, oddly calm for their situation.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What do you mean, “no?”” Jackson spat, stepping closer to Stiles as if to intimidate him.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles shrugged, “I mean no.  Do you wanna hear it in Spanish?  No.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Although she was bewildered by his opposition to calling the police given their situation, Kat couldn’t help but crack a grin at how he added a slight Spanish accent onto the last “no” he said to Jackson.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Look, Derek killed three people, okay?” Stiles continued, trying to get everyone on his side. “We don’t know what he’s armed with.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Your dad is armed with an entire sheriff’s department.  Call him.” Jackson demanded, clenching his jaw angrily as Lydia started searching for her phone in her purse.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I’m calling.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, Lydia, would you just hold on a second?” Stiles quickly said, moving forward to take the phone out of her hand, but Jackson stopped him by forcefully pushing his shoulder back.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat jumped between them, holding a hand out to stop them from pouncing on each other as Lydia called the police, “Leave each other alone; we don’t need two murderers in the school right now.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The boys glared at one another before they turned to Lydia, who had finally gotten a hold of the police.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Yes, we’re at Beacon Hills High School.  We’re trapped, and we need you to -- ” Lydia started but was quickly cut off by the dispatcher.  Her brows furrowed as she pulled the phone away from her ear, “She hung up on me.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The police hung up on you?” Allison asked, just as confused as the rest of the group.  But, at least they could agree that it was strange for the police to hang up on a caller.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“She said they got a tip warning them that there are gonna be prank calls about a break-in at the high school,” Lydia explained. “She said that if I called again that they’re gonna trace it and have me arrested.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Call again, Lyds.” Kat urgently said, but Stiles shot down her idea yet again.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, they won’t trace a cell.” Stiles said, “They’ll send a car to your house before they send anyone here.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison started stuttering, wholly baffled, as she ran her hands through her hair, “What the -- what -- what is this?  Why does Derek wanna kill us?  Why is he killing anyone?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Five pairs of eyes turned to Scott, silently asking him to fill in the blanks.  All they wanted was answers, and all Scott wanted to do was give them to them, but he didn’t know what he could tell them.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Why’s everyone looking at me?” Scott suddenly asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Is he the one that sent the texts to Kat and Allison?” Lydia asked, eyes widening at the realization.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No!” Scott quickly said, covering his fear with confusion, “I mean, I don’t know.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Is he the one that called the police?” Allison asked.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I don’t know!” Scott loudly snapped.  Allison’s jaw dropped in shock, and she stepped behind Kat to distance herself from Scott.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles decided to settle the group down a little, so they could rationally think, “Alright, why don’t we just back off the throttle here, yeah?” Stiles nodded at the people around him before pulling Scott away to speak in hushed tones, away from the carefully listening ears of the group.  Jackson and the girls stood idly by and watched as Scott and Stiles conversed, and they could tell that it was starting to become an argument.  Jackson hated not doing anything to benefit them in their current predicament and interrupted them with an insult.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Okay, assheads,” Jackson began, “New plan.  Stiles calls his useless dad and tells him to send someone with a gun and decent aim.  Are we good with that?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat watched as Stiles' face paled, realizing that they were out of options.  His jaw hung open as he shook his head, silently saying that was the last thing he wanted to do.  Kat could tell that her brother wanted to side with his best friend, but he had to do what was best for everyone.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“He’s right,” Scott finally said, catching Stiles' eye apologetically, “Tell him the truth if you have to; just call him.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles lowered his voice, but Kat still caught his words to Scott, “I’m not watching my dad get eaten alive.” Kat’s eyes widened at his words, but before she could question him on what he meant, Jackson decided to play hero and reached out to Stiles.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Alright, give me the phone.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles rounded on Jackson and punched him square in the jaw, sending the Whittemore boy down to the floor with a hand covering his face and shock spreading over his features.  Allison called out for the boy as Kat gasped and rushed over to Stiles to separate him from Jackson if the Whittemore boy decided that he wanted to settle the score.  Allison knelt beside Jackson and whipped around with a slightly horrified look as she met Stiles' eyes.  The Stilinski boy was breathing heavily as he recovered from what he had just done and pushed Kat and Scott off of him before reluctantly pulling out his phone and dialing his father’s phone number.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Dad, hey, it’s me.” Stiles began, dropping his arm to his side as he sighed, “And it’s your voicemail.  Look, I need you to call me back now.  Like, right now.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Loud banging noises suddenly echoed through the cafeteria as everyone jumped and turned to the source.  The barricaded door started to rattle as something repeatedly and forcefully pounded on the other side.  Kat instinctively snatched Stiles' hand in her own as the group retreated to the back of the room.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“We’re at the school, okay?” Stiles continued his voicemail to his father, somehow sounding calm through it all.  Kat knew it was so his father could hear the other noises in the room so he’d believe the danger they were in. “Dad, we’re at the school.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The door continued to shake and rattle as whatever was on the other side continued their animalistic rampage to get to the teens, screws falling out of the hinges and the bolts bending out of place.  Kat jumped with each bang and tightened her grip on Stiles' hand.  Somehow, in its frantic state, her brain still managed to think of a way for them to escape.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The kitchen,” she suddenly said, “The door out of the kitchen leads to the stairwell.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Which only goes up,” Scott reminded her.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Up is better than here.” Stiles agreed with Kat and turned to direct the group to the kitchen door.  The group started running again, hurriedly following one after the other to make it to the temporary safety of the second floor.  They came out to the top of the stairwell and immediately checked the classroom doors to see if any were open.  Kat looked around and realized they were in the science wing and took off down the hall, quietly telling everyone to follow her.  She remembered that while she was searching for Scott and Stiles, she found that one of her teachers had left his classroom unlocked.  The group filed in after her, and as soon as the door was shut and locked, Scott placed a stool under the doorknob for an extra layer of protection.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎With wide eyes, they all tried to quiet their breathing and listen for any movement in the silence that was suddenly suffocating them.  Kat had an iron grip on Stiles and Scott’s arms as she stood between them.  Scott went to check the window in the door, but Kat and Stiles stopped him as they suddenly heard a faint growl-like sound in the hallway.  Kat’s eyes filled with fearful tears as she watched a shadow cross over the window in the door, but they soon became relieved tears as it passed by, not detecting the group in the classroom.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Jackson, how many people can fit in your car?” Scott quietly asked, formulating a plan to escape now that he thought they had a better chance of getting out alive.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Five, if someone squeezes on someone’s lap,” Jackson answered.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Five?” Allison scoffed, “Kat and I barely fit in the back.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I think we could all fit, given the circumstances,” Kat quickly said, but she was cut off by Stiles.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“It doesn’t matter,” Stiles whispered, shaking his head as he looked at everyone around him. “There’s no getting out without drawing attention.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What about this?” Kat suddenly asked, moving across the room to the emergency exit door behind the teacher’s desk.  The group followed her as she said, “This leads to the roof.  We can go down the fire escape to the parking lot in, like, seconds.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles shot down the idea, “That’s a deadbolt.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“The janitor has a key,” Scott said, realizing that Kat had a good plan.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You mean his body has it,” Stiles said, shaking his head at the McCall siblings.  Kat scowled and crossed her arms over her chest.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I can get it,” Scott said, immediately earning a hushed yet stern and sarcastic protest from Kat.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, gee, that sounds like an incredibly terrible plan; what else you got?” Kat spat, shaking her head at him as she joined Jackson, Lydia, and Allison by the door again.  She heard a quiet quarrel between her brother and Stiles before Scott came up by her side in front of Allison, indicating that he was serious about getting the key from the janitor’s body.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Are you serious?” Allison asked, taking the same stance as Kat and crossing her arms over her chest as she disagreed with his choice.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, it’s the best plan.” Scott tried to defend himself, shrugging slightly. “Someone has to get the key if we wanna get out of here.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You can’t go out there unarmed,” Allison said, fear reflecting in her eyes in the dark room.  Scott defeatedly looked around the room and picked up the thing closest to him, which happened to be a cartoon hand pointer that the teacher would occasionally use in a lame attempt to earn the class' attention.  The group gave him disapproving glares.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Well, it’s better than nothing.” Scott sighed.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat shook her head, “There’s gotta be something else.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“There is,” Lydia spoke up, her eyes locked on a cabinet behind Allison.  It was the cabinet that held all of the chemicals they used in class.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles, ever the downer, smartly said, “What are we gonna do?  Throw acid on him?”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No,” Lydia shortly said, “Like a firebomb.  In there is everything you need to make a self-igniting molotov cocktail.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Self-igniting -- ”  Stiles began.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Molotov cocktail.  Lydia, you’re brilliant!” Kat finished, celebrating her friend’s brain with a bright smile.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia, usually one to soak up any attention doted on her, shuffled uncomfortably under the watchful eyes she was receiving for being more intelligent than Jackson could be.  Finally, she shrugged, “No, I think I read it somewhere.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Although impressed by her smarts, Stiles had to remind them that they couldn’t utilize them. “We don’t have a key for that either.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson sighed and rolled his eyes before breaking the glass with his elbow.  Kat and Lydia rushed forward and grabbed all the necessary ingredients for a self-igniting molotov cocktail, carefully setting them on the closest desk so Lydia could cook up the firebomb.  Kat and Jackson handed her any chemical she asked for without hesitation, but when she asked for the sulfuric acid from Jackson, the Whittemore boy paused.  His hand hovered over one chemical before he grabbed a different one, and Lydia nor Kat checked the label before Lydia poured it into the beaker with the concoction and put the cork stopper in the top of the beaker.  She held it out to Scott, but Allison still wasn’t okay with the plan.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No,” the Argent girl suddenly stepped forward, looking at Scott pleadingly. “No, this is insane; you can’t do this.  You cannot go out there.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“We can’t just sit here waiting for Stiles' dad to check his messages.” Scott contradicted her, ready to play hero and save them all.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“You could die,” Allison sharply said, “Don’t you get that?  He’s killed three people.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat hadn’t wholly thought of that.  Her brother could die.  She was suddenly back on Allison’s side, but Scott bulldozed over anything she was about to say.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“And we’re next.  Somebody has to do something.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Scott started to move towards the classroom door, but Allison stood in his way, sobbing as she tried again to change his mind, “Scott, just stop.  Do you remember -- do you remember when you told me you knew whether or not I was lying?  That I had a tell?” Scott nodded. “So do you.  You’re a horrible liar, and you’ve been lying all night.  Just -- just, please.  Please don’t go.  Please don’t leave us.  Please.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Scott hesitated, looking around at the group in the room.  Kat moved around the table to assist Allison in getting Scott to stay, but Stiles had gently wrapped an arm around her and kept her close to him.  He was quietly whispering reassurances in her ear as she cried.  The reality of the situation was finally settling in, and she didn’t know what to do.  Scott met her eyes, and he felt his heart break, but he had already made up his mind.  He had to save everyone.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Lock it behind me,” Scott told Stiles, turning to make a quick escape, but Allison was just as fast.  Kat stepped forward, but Stiles tightened his grip on her waist and pulled her back as Allison fell back on her last resort.  She grabbed Scott’s face and kissed him.  Scott wanted nothing more than to relax into her and stay precisely where he was, but he also knew that he needed to save his sister and friends.  Scott pulled away and tried to give everyone a bold look before finally slipping out of the classroom and into the hallway.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles moved forward with Kat to lock the door after Scott, and he was prepared to ask Jackson to hold her back, but she instead reached out and wrapped her arms around Allison.  The girls quietly cried in each other’s arms, not wanting to think that that would be the last time they saw Scott.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The tension in the room was not ignored as Kat and Allison calmed down, somehow finding it in themselves to put some faith in Scott that he could evade Derek to get the keys and get them all to safety.  The group settled on and around the desk near the door.  Allison sat atop it, Kat stood beside her with Stiles stuck like glue to her side, and Jackson and Lydia towards the end of the table.  Kat had an arm linked through Stiles' and the other resting on Allison’s leg, calming herself down with the physical contact.  She knew that she’d be a mess of anxiety and fright without them.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison sighed, growing tired of the silence around them.  She was the type of person to voice her thoughts, and when she didn’t do that for long periods of time, especially in times of high stress, she became incredibly antsy.  She leaned forward and started chewing on her nails before voicing everyone’s current thoughts.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I don’t get this.” She began, “I don’t get why he’s out there and why he left us.  And I can’t . . . I can’t stop my hands from shaking.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson had a soft, almost sympathetic look on his face as he reached out and took her hands in his own. “It’s okay.  Okay, it’s gonna be okay.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia’s eyes snapped to the pair before flashing up to Kat’s, a betrayed glint shining in them.  Kat shook her head, trying to silently tell her that it meant nothing and that he was just trying to comfort a friend, but the red color flushing Lydia’s cheeks told Kat that she wasn’t buying it.  Kat wasn’t so sure that she was, either.  She hadn’t missed the look he gave Allison when he told them to be careful before they entered the high school earlier that night.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia busied herself with anything she could in her jealous state, and her eyes settled on the chemicals still sitting on the teacher’s desk.  Her eyes narrowed as she looked over the bottles and her head tipped to the side.  She was suddenly questioning the chemicals she had put in the molotov cocktail.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Jackson, you handed me the sulfuric acid, right?” Lydia asked, eyes still trained on the chemicals. “It has to be sulfuric acid.  It won’t ignite if it’s not.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“I gave you exactly what you asked for, didn’t I?” Jackson snapped. “Maybe Kat mixed up a chemical, don’t accuse me.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia flinched and took the most minor step away from her boyfriend, shaking her head. “No, I’m sure you did.  I was just making sure.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat’s heart dropped as she looked at the chemicals.  Anger suddenly filled her body as she stood up straight, and her eyes glared daggers in Jackson’s direction. “I swear to god, Whittemore.  If you let your stupid ego get in the way because you couldn’t stand for someone else to be the center of attention and my brother ends up dead, Derek won’t be the only one you have to worry about.  I’ll kill you before he even has the chance to -- ”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles reached out to pull Kat back into his side before she could start to physically attack Jackson when a deafening roar started to thunder through the school, causing the locks hanging from lockers to rattle and clank against the metal.  Kat cried out and covered her ears, and Jackson suddenly fell to the floor, a hand flying to the back of his neck as he screamed in pain.  Lydia and Allison collapsed beside him as Stiles tried to steady Kat, who was wincing and wobbling on her feet as she groaned in anguish.  A sharp pain pierced her ears, almost as if a needle was being pushed into her eardrum.  She had quieted down as the roar faded into nothingness, as did the pain in her ears, and Jackson had been the one to earn everyone’s attention as Lydia and Allison stood him up.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“No, I’m fine.” Jackson sharply said, stumbling away from his girlfriend with a hand still clamped onto the back of his neck. “Seriously, I’m okay.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“That didn’t sound okay at all,” Allison probed, trying to get him to open up and let them in so they could help him.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What’s that on the back of your neck?” Stiles mumbled, reaching a hand out to pull the collar of Jackson’s jacket down, but his hand was slapped away before it could get too close.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Jackson shook his head, “I said I’m fine.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“It’s been there for days,” Lydia said, trying to egg him on and start yet another fight. “He won’t tell me what happened.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“As if you actually care.” Jackson quipped, effectively shutting Lydia up.  The people around him scowled.  They all knew Lydia truly cared for Jackson, no matter how horribly he treated her.  Kat grumbled and stepped forward to give him a piece of her mind, but Stiles quickly reacted and held her back, locking his arms around her and quietly telling her that he wasn’t worth it.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Lydia, however, didn’t have someone to hold her back, and the couple engaged in a full-blown argument.  Petty insults were being thrown back and forth, but Kat was focused on the sounds outside of the classroom.  A faint sound that reminded her of nails scratching on metal quietly echoed through the hallway, and soon following was the sound of the lock sliding into place on the classroom door.  Kat, who had slouched against Stiles' chest, suddenly stood up straight as she listened to the lock break in the door.  She gasped and forced her way out of Stiles' hold, rushing towards the door and calling out her brother’s name.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎This earned the group's attention, and suddenly everyone was flush against the door, calling out Scott’s name and letting questions tumble out of their mouths in their confused state.  Allison grabbed the handle and was furiously twisting it to get it open, but she knew it was no use.  They were safely locked in, and Scott was locked out with the murderer.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Allison was getting more and more intense, banging on the door and shouting her boyfriend’s name until Lydia yelled at her to stop.  Kat pulled Allison away from the door as they all turned to look at Lydia with expectant faces.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Do you hear that?” Lydia asked, looking towards the windows with a hopeful expression.  The group immediately quieted down, listening hard for what Lydia had heard.  Kat let out a relieved gasp when she heard it, collapsing into Allison as grateful tears pricked her eyes.  Sirens.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Listen,” Lydia breathed, a smile forming on her face for the first time all night.  The group ran towards the windows, watching with thankfulness in their hearts as flashing red and blue lights filled the parking lot.  Noah had gotten Stiles' voicemail.  They were saved.

‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat sat in the back of an ambulance as they checked her over, and a deputy took her statement.  Besides a few bruises from hitting her limbs on walls in their haste to survive and an ever-growing headache, she was fine.  The EMT, which happened to be the one that she had shadowed just a week prior, just wanted to make sure that she didn’t have any substantial injuries (“Your mom will kill me if I don’t do a thorough check, we both know she would,” said the EMT).  She waited for her friends to be released from the other ambulances, but she took the time to think over everything she had been through that night.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎She was beyond happy to be alive and unharmed, but if it hadn’t been for Stiles, she wouldn’t have been in that mess in the first place.  So what were they doing there, anyway?  Was it really Derek that lured everyone there?  If so, why?  The two people she knew who had a connection with him weren’t there with them.  Was it a ploy, a distraction?  As much as she tried to make sense of everything, she couldn’t.  She was only sure of two things: she was utterly exhausted, both mentally and physically, and she was pissed at Stiles and Scott for bringing her into their problem, even if they didn’t send the texts to Allison and herself.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Finally, the EMT let her walk away from the ambulance.  She made a direct beeline to Stiles and wasted no time wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her face in his chest, taking a deep breath to let out even the slightest bit of stress.  As soon as she had physical contact with him, she immediately felt better.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles chuckled and let his arms secure themselves around her.  He glanced at Scott, who was standing a few yards away, staring at them with a look that seemed to be a mixture of smugness and discomfort.  Stiles let his hands run up and down Kat’s back, knowing she needed to be comforted.  After another minute, Kat took a breath and stepped away from the Stilinski boy, feeling much better than before.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“What was that for?” Stiles asked, a light tint of a blush dusting over his entire face.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat sweetly smiled, feeling her face heat up because she could make him blush.  She shrugged, feeling her smile drop into a grin. “Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m pissed that you dragged me into this, whether it was unintentional or not, but I’m glad you’re okay.  We all had a bad night, and I just needed a hug.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles chuckled and shoved his hands into his jacket pockets before Scott made a noise and waved him over.  Lydia was doing the same thing with Kat, and the McCall girl held up a finger before looking at Stiles again.
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎“Thanks for keeping me from killing Jackson earlier.” Kat said, a grin toying on her lips before it fell into a genuine smile, “And thank you for holding my hand and keeping me relatively calm all night.  I didn’t think you’d remember how much that helps.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Stiles made a ‘pfft’ sound and smiled at her, “Please, we’ve been married since kindergarten.  I know everything about my girl.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎Kat rolled her eyes and felt a blush start to creep up her neck. “I’ll see you later, Stilinski.”
‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎The McCall girl shook her head and met with Lydia and Jackson at Jackson’s car before sliding into the backseat.  She took a long breath and watched the school fade away as Jackson drove back into town.  Now that the adrenaline had left her system, she was left with her true feelings about the situation.  She could have died.  Scott could have died.  Stiles, Allison, Lydia, Jackson.  All of them could have died.  And Scott left them to fulfill his dream of impressing Allison by being the hero when it could have cost him his life.  With a heavy heart, she shut her eyes and willed herself to not replay the events of the night.  At least, not yet.  She didn’t think she could handle it.

out of the woods: theo raeken.

1989 (Heartbreak Grill’s Version)
looking at it now it all seems to simple. we were lying on your couch. i remember.
“i have to go.”
theo groaned as the words left my lips. his arms, wrapped securely around my waist, tightened their grip as he inhaled a hopeless breath.
“no,” he nudged my neck with his nose, eliciting a soft giggle from me. “no, stay, please.”
“theo,” i wriggled away from his ticklish touches, “i have to go.”
i tried to remove myself from his grasps, but he was strong. his large, warm hands, slid over my bare stomach, gripping onto my hips. he pressed my back into the mattress, as my wrestling arms came to rest on his shoulders. he had been growing out his hair and now it hung low enough to ghost over my collarbones. i shivered as the strands drug across my skin, theo’s lips attached to my neck.
“theo,” i persisted, “scott gets off at 8. he’s going to come into my room and check if i’m there. when i’m not, he’s going to notify every single supernatural within a thirty mile radius, and every policeman within the county. they will be on your doorstep by 8:15, and i will be dead.”
as i spoke, i continued to try to fight theo’s strong hold, lifting my body from the mattress, and pushing back at his shoulders. my words seemed like a good enough threat to get him moving.
“i don’t want you to go,” he moved to the edge of the bed, feet flat upon the floor.
i stood and gathered my clothes, occasionally tossing him pointed glances, “as much as i enjoy this- i would prefer to not die tonight. i have a chemistry exam tomorrow. here-“
theo rolled his eyes as i tossed his boxers to him. it landed on top of his head. i stifled a laugh and tugged on my jeans.
theo ripped the boxers off and mocked my laughter, “haha, very funny.”
i shrugged and stuck my head through my t-shirt. “listen,” i made my way towards the front door of theo’s tiny, studio apartment. it wasn’t much, but it beat sleeping in his truck every night, like he had been doing. i laced up my shoes, “i should be able to see you tomorrow night. i’ll text you, though, let you know what’s happening.”
theo noticed i was reaching for the door handle and quickly shimmied into his boxers. he slapped a hand against the door, “wait!”
it slammed shut. i looked up at him, an expectant expression on my face. “yeah?”
theo caught my chin in his hands, and planted a sweet kiss on my lips. i melted into the moment, leaning my weight into his hold, allowing my fingers to gently ghost his chest. however, as soon as theo moved to deepen the exchange, my phone started ringing.
my eyes flew open, a wide, worried look taking over my dazed face. i held out a finger towards theo, as if to shush him, as i answered the call.
“hello? oh, hi, scott,” i shot theo a glance. he crossed his arms, figure shrunk in a guilty demeanor. “no, yeah- i’m on my way home now. oh, chinese sounds good. yep- no, yeah. just gotta shower first. just- with gina. yep. studying. chem exam tomorrow! yep. yeah. k. love you! bye.”
i stared at my phone for a second, as though scott were going to climb out of it and kill theo for even being in the same room as me. when that didn’t happen, i let out a deep breath.
“okay,” i looked to the boy, “i have got to get going. i’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
“yeah,” theo couldn’t help but grin down at me, “tomorrow.”
i noticed his body tilt towards mine, his chest lean towards me, and i held up a finger, cocked a brow. “don’t even think about it or i will never get out of here.”
i could hear him groaning as i shut the door behind me.
you took a polaroid of us, then discovered the rest of the world was black and white, but we were in screaming color.
“what are you doing for your birthday?”
i balanced the popcorn bowl on my lap as i twisted around on the couch. theo glanced over at me from the fridge, flashing that bright, wide grin.
i couldn’t help but smile, though nothing special really was happening. “not sure yet. why do you ask?”
“just wondering.”
i stared at the back of his stooped, trying to read between the lines of his very few words. theo could feel my gaze, could hear my curious heartbeat, and looked up against. “what?”
i slowly brought a piece of popcorn to my lips, brows furrowed, “why are you asking?”
“nothing,” he reached into the fridge and grabbed a can of coke. the door shut softly behind him. he neared the couch and cracked open the drink. i continued to stare him. “why do you keep staring at me like that?”
“because i know it’s not nothing,” i set the bowl down on the coffee table and came up onto my knees. theo tilted his head and peered down at me. “you’ve got stuff on your mind. say it. let it out into the open. this is a judgement free zone.”
he chuckled softly as i gestured to the tiny apartment. “not exactly a zone as is.”
i reached up and smacked his forearm. “just tell me! please?”
theo took another sip of his coke, thinking intensely. “there’s really not much to say. i was just thinking how your birthday is coming up and i wanted to maybe do something special for you.”
“wait, really?” i perked up, elbows pressed into the back of the couch and chin planted upon my palms. “aw, wait really?”
theo rolled his eyes, “yes, really. but, i know you guys probably have stuff planned. so, i was just trying to get a feel for when we could fit something in.”
“no one’s said anything to me about any plans. though,” my mind wandered a bit, and the stupid hope theo’s healing heart always gave me filled my lungs, “if they do figure something out, i don’t see why you couldn’t just come to that..?”
theo’s soft face hardened slightly, a gut wrenching frown painting his pink lips. “yeah…i don’t know about that. liam still wants me dead. scott and stiles hate me- not to mention malia and lydia probably would be happy to kick me in the balls.”
i thought over the words, imagining each scenario play out. he was right. “yeah…” i trailed off, “yeah, i don’t think that would happen. i just-“
i struggled to find my words, gaze distant, hope shattered. “i don’t know-“
“i know,” theo touched my cheek, fingers cold from the can of coke now in his other hand. “i know.”
“i’m tired of hiding, theo,” my voice came out quiet and timid, expressive to how i was truly feeling. it was exhausting, constantly sneaking around, always being on the lookout for scott.
“i know, baby,” he squatted down to my level, holding my face with both hands, now. his thumbs brushed over the apples of my cheeks, eyes catching my distant ones. “listen…i know it’s hard, but…they just don’t understand it, okay? they wouldn’t get it. you- you put your faith in me when i didn’t deserve it. if it wasn’t for you, if it wasn’t for your hope, i don’t think i would be the man i am today. you saw a lost, broken boy and you helped me get back on my feet. you helped me make up for every wrong i’ve done. i…”
he didn’t continue any sentence. he just pressed his lips together. my heart fluttered at the anticipation of what it could’ve been he wanted to say.
“i just wish…” i gathered some thoughts, “i wish they’d give you a chance.”
“one day,” theo kissed me shortly, “i think…one day, it’ll happen.”
we curled up on the tiny couch, fit for his small apartment, and watched a movie. i lay in the crevice of his side, clutching to his body like it would be taken from me. often, i worried that that would happen. scott would catch us, committing no crimes, and juror theo to a fate worse than death. it seemed so silly- scott was the sworn protector of this town. he always ensured everyone’s happiness, health, prosperity. yet, when it came to me, those guarantees fell short. he’d rather i be holed up in my room, or holed up at school, my nose in a book, than i live, than i date or work or go out with friends.
it made everything so complicated. it made my life complicated- i had rules to follow, i had curfews, i had to answer the phone every time he called or the entire world would fall apart. i understood my brother just wanted me to be safe, to stay alive- but he was ruining my life while trying to save it.
i looked up towards theo, worry swimming through my eyes. he turned his head at my own shuffling and smiled, though it faded at the sight of my worried face.
“hey, hey,” he shifted his body towards mine, “baby…it’s okay. hey…everything’s gonna be okay, yeah? i won’t let anything ruin this, okay?”
“i’m just worried he’s gonna take you away from me…”
“i know,” theo brushed the hair from my face, “i know, but i won’t let him. i…”
that unfinished thought again.
i set my hands upon theo’s shoulder, worry being coaxed down by the affection i felt for him. “i love you,” i admitted.
theo’s face softened, the gold flecks in his eyes on fire from my confession. he pulled my face closer towards his, rushing out a response before crashing our lips together.
“i love you.”
and i remember thinking: are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet good?
“i saw theo today.”
i looked up from my plate, eyes widened in curiosity. i flicked my gaze between lydia, scott, stiles, malia, and liam. everyone paused from eating their food. they focused on lydia’s words.
scott straightened his stooped neck. his thick brows were furrowed with inquiry, “really? where?”
“the store,” lydia spoke pointedly. “he was buying a dozen roses from the supermarket.”
“well, at least we know he’s a cheap date,” stiles was quick to nip.
i felt my face grow warm, both from worry and frustration. i shoveled some noodles into my mouth.
malia poked at her straw, “what’s he doing here? i thought he left?”
“i think we all did,” scott sighed. he wiped a napkin across his face. “did he have any other groceries?”
lydia rolled her eyes towards the ceiling, as if to recite the items she saw in his cart. “eggs, milk, icing, chicken nuggets, a loaf of bread, and, i think, penne noodles. could’ve been elbow macaroni, though. couldn’t really tell.”
a smile creeped onto my face as i pieced together the groceries. i was supposed to see theo tonight, though i’d told mom and scott i was going to gina’s for a sleepover. i guess i had a birthday cake and flowers to look forward to.
everyone thought for a moment. then, stiles cracked another lame joke, “hey, maybe he’s going to make up for nearly killing y/n by baking her a cake!”
i choked on my water. scott reached a concerned hand over to pat my back. i pressed a napkin to my face and coughed erratically. “you okay?” scott brushed hair form my cheek.
i nodded wildly, “yep- yeah. yep! great. good. sorry.”
scott patted my back again before returning to the conversation. “for his sake, i hope he isn’t planning on doing that. i hope he isn’t planning on contacting any of us. if he does, you all need to tell me- immediately, okay? stiles, let your dad know he’s lingering around. y/n-“
i sniffled from my coughing fit. “yeah?”
scott’s face was lined with a deepened worry, brown eyes swimming with concern for me. “i don’t think i want you going to gina’s tonight. or anywhere but school for the time being. not until we know what theo’s doing here.”
my brows furrowed tightly, “what? no! what- why- how is that fair? no- scott. i can’t-“
“mom will agree,” scott cut me off. “i’m not risking anything.”
“but…” i went to continue to argue my case, but scott continued rattling off instructional orders to the rest of the group.
and, so, my birthday dinner turned into driving to the sheriff’s station with the entire pack. sitting in stilinki’s office until we figured out where theo was living. we drove to the street and patrolled his apartment until 1am. then, stiles dropped scott and i off at home.
nobody even sang me happy birthday.
looking at it now, last december, we were built to fall apart. then fall back together.
“it’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.”
“theo,” i grinned as i took a box from him. a big red bow adorned the glittery wrapping paper. it wasn’t heavy, and the size of the box was quite small. but my heart lit on fire from the lovely gesture. “you really shouldn’t have.”
“no, i wanted to,” he waved me off. “you deserve…so much. the world.”
i met his eyes and recognized that familiar, glistening adoration i’d gotten so used to. “i just…feel bad. you don’t have much money, and-“
“it doesn’t matter,” theo pressed a hand to my knee.
we were criss-cross on the couch, sparse christmas decorations scattered through his tiny apartment. i’d insisted on lining tinsel across the door, lights around the tv console, putting the fake tree in the already crowded corner. i hadn’t been able to come over much and wanted theo to be able to feel some semblance of joyous occasion when i wasn’t there. this was the first time we’d seen each other since thanksgiving.
i only managed to escape the house because i convinced scott that gina and i had to spend christmas together.
“open it!” theo squeezed my knee again.
i giggled at his excited stature and quickly unraveled the bow. inside, amidst the folds of a velvet box, was a necklace with the letter t hanging off of a gold chain. i grinned at the sight, “oh, my gosh! here- put it on me!”
i held my hair from my shoulders as theo clipped the necklace at the nape of my spine. his cold fingers ghosted across my skin until his palms were around my shoulders. he tugged my back into his chest, laying us down upon the couch.
your necklace hanging from my neck, the night we couldn't quite forget when we decided to move the furniture so we could dance.
silence enveloped our presence, a comforting feeling of peace that we rarely had. “i love you, theo,” i let myself whisper. i tried to say it more often than not, worried that one day i wouldn’t be able to remind him of it.
“we should tell scott.”
i pulled myself up, out of theo’s hold, turning to face him on the couch. i was bewildered. my face surely showed it, “what?”
theo ran a hand through his hair, “i think we should tell scott, y/n.”
i shook my head slightly, “no, no. no- we can’t do that. theo- no.”
his tone became increasingly critical, disagreeing with my own disapproval. “why not? im tired of hiding-“
“he’ll kill you, theo,” i rushed out. my breathing was anticipatory in it’s quick speed. “scott will kill you, theo.”
“i don’t know. he’s…merciful. i think if we tell him, we can-“
“theo, no!” i jumped from the couch. “please, just stop. i don’t want to fight about this with you. it’s not happening. end of stor-“
“why does that get to just be your decision? why don’t i get to have a say in this relationship? it’s all up to you!” theo followed me from our seats. he spoke wildly, his hands moving with his words.
i crossed my arms, “i risk everything every single day that i text you. i put myself on the line just to see you. i’m lying to my brother, my best friend- my mom! theo- i thought you understood-“
“i’m just tired of being your little secret. i want to be able to- to see you. i want to come to your birthday dinners and spend christmas morning with you. i want to be in your life. i feel like i’m just on the sidelines!”
“maybe you shouldn’t have tried to kill all of us!”
the words blurted from my lips before i could stop them. the stale silence that followed my heartless thoughts was bitter and cold. theo turned his shoulder from me, dropping his head into his hands.
“oh, my god,” i stepped forward, bracing my hands for impact. “i’m so sorry. theo- i-“
“i thought you’d forgiven me,” he murmured into his palm. “you told me you forgave me for that.”
“i did- i did, i just- i’m sorry! i don’t know why i said tha-“
“maybe scott’s right,” theo met my eyes finally, tears blurring his green ones.
“what-?”
“maybe i never will change. maybe i’m just a bad guy. maybe it’s not a good idea for you to be around me.”
“no, theo, no-“ he kept interrupting me.
“you should leave.”
i couldn’t find the words to stay, but i needed to.
i stepped forward, again, touching theo’s shoulder. he whipped his head back to face me, beautiful eyes darkened by the yellow hue, fangs protruding from his teeth, claws digging into his palms that were beginning to bleed.
“get out!” he roared.
i flinched, throwing myself back a few feet. my hands were shaking. i quickly gathered my things, never turning my back from the monstrous boy standing before me. his chest heaved with anger. he glared.
for the first time in a long time, i was scared of theo.
so, i ran.
baby, like we stood a chance; two paper airplanes flying. and i remember thinking…
“are you awake?”
scott knocked upon my bedroom door.
i rolled over in my bed, away from the sound of his voice, away from his incessant worry.
i knew he could hear my heartbeat. i knew he could smell my pheromones.
i ignored him. he had his answers. i wanted to be left alone.
scott sighed. “please talk to me.”
i didn’t want to.
“well,” he tried to sound cheery, but it failed, “i’ll be out here when you’re ready.”
weeks had passed.
silence had followed.
scott was always wondering why i didn’t go to study group with gina. mom worried why i didn’t want to eat my favorite dinner on thursday nights. stiles was confused when i would voluntarily tag along on patrols with him and scott. when we’d pass theo’s house, i’d press my headphones into my ears and drown the two teenage boys out.
lydia drug me to the mall the following week. scott had told everyone he was worried i was depressed. but he didn’t know why.
i knew why.
i didn’t text theo. and he didn’t try to reach me.
i let the necklace pool in my makeup drawer. my fingers ghosted over it every morning, and i’d flinch as though it burned me. it just made me brain flicker with unwanted memories.
i had nightmares about him.
he’d come into my room and tear me apart.
he’d kill scott right in front of me.
he’d rip my mom’s throat out during dinner.
i dreamed of him, too.
of his arms, the contradictory peace i felt from his fingers. i knew, deep down inside, that his threatening demeanor wasn’t real. it was a projection of his innermost insecurities, his frustration because he could only ever have parts of me.
but i was still terrified. it took me back to a time in my life when theo really was the villain. back to the night when the dread doctors nearly killed me. it reminded me of things i’d worked hard to get over.
it felt like last year, only this time, my heart was broken, too.
i don’t know why i thought it would work. bad people never changed. they’d maybe give you a hurricane eye, false hope that things would be clearing up, the storm would pass. and, then, their true, dark colors would appear like the rain. thundering down on you.
i thought back to months ago, when i first let him in. i’d run into him at the grocery store, like lydia. he was buying tuna fish and a potted plant. he had a certain soil type in his cart. i didn’t recognize him at first, mostly because i’d blocked his face from my memory, and his hair had grown out. he was hiding beneath his hoodie, too.
are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet? good.
“that soils gonna kill that plant.”
i peered over at the stranger’s cart, my own basket swinging from my arm.
“oh!” he looked up from the cereal box in his hands, surprised by my voice.
his brows furrowed, friendly smile faltering slightly. “oh. uh…” he wasn’t quite sure what to say.
i chuckled shortly, “sorry to startle you? i just…don’t want to watch this poor guy be carted off to his death.”
theo looked at the plant as i pointed to it. he set the cereal down in his car, shook his head once, and met my eyes again, “oh. that’s okay. um…would you mind telling me what soil i need?”
“yeah, of course. cmon.”
i marched us off to the plant aisle. as we walked across the entire supermarket, i told him all about my plant collection at home. i shared personal details of my life, remarked as he brought up his own stories.
then, i found the small bag easily, and dumped it into his cart, shoveling the other one back onto the shelf.
he thanked me with this sweet grin. “wow, uh, thank you, so much. any other tips?”
his smile twisted into a smirk, something friendly, nothing too extreme. but, it’s what clicked my memories together. i recognized him then.
i frowned and took a slow step back, “um. sorry…”
i quickly turned on my heel and raced away from the aisle. theo was hot on my heels. he chased me with his cart, stumbling over apologies that i was sure didn’t mean anything. “wait- no! y/n! i’m sorry! please! please let me-! i’m so sorry!”
i tried to pull my phone from my pocket to call scott, but it clattered to the floor. i skidded to a stop, dropping to my knees to grab it. the basket in my arm tipped and everything sprawled across the floor.
i reached for my phone and cursed at the mess. his hand came down over mine. he shot his grip back, apologizing. “i didn’t mea-“
“leave me alone.”
i don’t know how he convinced me to go to dinner with him.
remember when you hit the brakes too soon? 20 stitches in the hospital room. when you started crying, baby, i did, too. but, when the sun came up i was looking at you.
“i think we should talk.”
i glanced over at lydia, thumbs pressing into my thighs anxiously. i sucked in a breath, cold air drowning in my lungs. the wipers rubbed over the window wildly, rain pouring down outside. the radio played softly.
i watched a raindrop race down the window, then glanced over at lydia. “about what?”
she met my eye for a second. she looked like she knew something i didn’t want her to. i gulped.
“you know i…” she trailed off. she licked her teeth in an attempt to find her words, carefully. “i can see things, y/n.”
i sucked in another breath. i couldn’t get enough. i should’ve known this would happen. lydia didn’t just get premonitions of death. if she was connected to somebody enough, like me, she could see flashes of secrets.
“yeah…” i whispered.
“i don’t…” lydia struggled to speak, “i don’t know what to say, necessarily. i only know bits and pieces. like…christmas. he- he wanted to hurt you. but, then- at the grocery store. he was gonna bake you a cake. wha- please tell me what happened, y/n.”
i explained the situation with a shaky voice, fingers rubbing one another in a ruminating anxiety. lydia just listened intently. i was worried she was going to turn the car around, drive us back home to tell scott. i’d get holed up in my room while the pack went on a man and wolf hunt.
but, when i was finished, lydia just stared off at the road.
“well?” i pressed.
she glanced at me, again, “wow. i don’t…i don’t know what to say. i just…i’ve loved some bad people, y/n. one of them- died. the other moved to london, but…but they did change. i changed them, i’d like to think. they became good people. but, i think that’s because they were good people, in their core. they were just scared…i know you probably know theo better than i do, but…i don’t know. he killed his sister. if he were a real wolf, his eyes would be blue, y/n. he came to this town to kill your brother. to take our pack. and he nearly killed you. so many of our classmates’ lives ended because of theo. i just- he’s…”
as she spoke, images flashed through my mind.
two months ago, theo and i had drove three hours outside of town to go to the movie theater. as we walked inside, we saw a little girl sitting upon the curb. she was leaned over, sobbing into her hands. i didn’t know what to do. i was never really good with kids.
theo dropped my hand, ignoring the end of our conversation. he marched over to her, squatted down to speak to her. i couldn’t quite hear what he said, but she looked up at him with these huge, sad eyes. tears stained her face.
theo stood. he offered her his hand. she took it gladly.
he talked to her, quietly, as they walked inside. i followed closely. we stood with the movie theater attendants while they found the girl’s mom.
later, theo showed me a photo of his sister that he kept tucked within a book in his bedroom. it was the only thing he had left of her. that, and the awful memory of what he’d done to her.
she looked to be the age of that little girl, the one who squeezed theo like an old friend before running off to her mommy. she kissed his cheek. she thanked him.
“every night, i have nightmares about…”
i remember holding him through these terrifying dreams…
“about what i did to her. i regret it- i regret it, y/n. if i could give my life to get her back i- i would do it in a heartbeat. i…i’m so sorry of who i am. of where i’ve been and what i’ve done. i’m sorry. i’m so fucking sorry. i wish..i wish we could start over. i wish i could meet you in another lifetime, one where none of this ever happened.”
i held his face in my hands, gently, “theo…it’s okay. we all…we’ve all done things that we wish we could take back. we can only deal with the consequences, and make the best of it. i love you- i love you so much. i forgive you.”
remember when we couldn’t take the heat? i walked out. i said, ‘i’m setting you free.’ but the monsters turned out to be just trees. when the sun came up- you were looking at me.
“theo is…”
lydia didn’t quite finish her sentence, but my i did with my own sad realizations. “scared. he’s scared. he’s…he’s been fighting his whole life. he was just a…just a boy when the dread doctors found him. they manipulated him and- and, god. i-i was helping him and then…god, i’m so mean. i let your guys’ threats against theo ruin my own beliefs. and i let it ruin us…lydia- i-“
“i’m sorry,” she said. it was sincere. “i didn’t…i didn’t know. i’m so sorry, y/n. don’t blame yourself for how it ended. you…you had every right to say what you did. it was his choice as to how he reacted to it. and he pushed you away.“
“but, but- i could have stayed. i could have helped him. we could have worked it out- i need to go see him. lydia, please- take me home-“
lydia screamed.
my eardrums burst.
blood dripped down my jaw, staining the collar of my jean jacket. the tired squealed against the slick pavement. the car went over the side of the road, flying through an empty field, and crashing down on it’s head. broken glass scraped across my face. the seatbelt nearly choked me as our bodies twisted upside down with the car.
i was awake for a mere moments after the car stilled. the radio continued to play soft, haunting melodies. the rain pattered, splashing my face.
the only thing i could picture was theo’s face.
it was almost as if he was right there before me.
when i woke, i was in a hospital bed. i couldn’t quite open my eyes. my head was pounding and the florescent lighting stung my vision. the cuts in my skin thumped with my heartbeat. the iv in my arm felt thick, heavy, cold fluids running in my veins.
above the annoying beeping of the machines attached to my body were two voices. angry voices. arguing voices.
theo and scott.
“no, i don’t think you understand, theo! get out! i don’t want you anywhere near my sister! you- i don’t trust you! this probably happened because of you!”
my eyes shot open.
theo stepped back as scott yelled in his face. his tone was more calm than my brother’s, hands raised defensively, yet in a surrendering offer with his palms facing the ceiling. “scott, please, just-“
“no! get out! leave! before i make you!” scott’s hands were shaking with anger. he seethed, chest rising up and down wildly.
i tried to move, but my body paralyzed. words wouldn’t come, either, because a breathing mask was over my mouth.
“scott-!” theo tried, once more.
scott growled, eyes turning red, ears pointing up towards the moon in the window. he was completely transformed. i knew how dangerous that was. i knew how angry he was.
my eyes shot towards the doorway as mom quickly entered. she stopped before scott, placing her hands on his shoulders gently, “scott…honey, cmon, you’ve gotta breathe, okay? i’ve got a hospital full of patients and the last thing i need is to have the night janitor clean up after two werewolves.”
“then tell him to leave!” scott pointed a claw at theo.
mom looked towards the boy, brows furrowing in anger. she composed herself better. “theo…” mom spoke warily, “you need to leave. now.”
“no, you don’t understand! i didn’t do this! i-i brought her here! if i wanted to kill her, why would i bring her here!”
“to save your ass!” scott roared.
i examined theo’s face as it tilted towards the light. tears shone on his cheeks. mom pushed scott back an inch, “no, scott! hey, honey, cmon! he’s- he’s telling the truth. he brought her here- he didn’t try to kill her, scott!”
“then what did?”
“a deer,” mom spoke blankly. she pursed her lips. the confession was awkward, humanized compared to what we were all used to.
scott straightened his posture, transforming back into a human. his breathing evened out. “oh. i’m….”
theo sighed, ran a hand over his face. “look…i know you hate me. and you have every right to. but…i just…i’m not leaving. i’m staying.”
he took a step towards my bed. scott moved in front of him, blocking me. “stay away from her.”
“scott,” mom examined theo’s face as he met my eyes. he breathed out a sigh of relief and quickly grabbed my hand.
theo dropped to the chair beside my bed, clutching my fingers in his. he pressed his forehead to my touch, mumbling gratitude beneath his breath.
“i thought i lost you,” theo whispered.
mom and scott watched. mom crossed her arms over her chest, a wondrously pleased expression in her eyes. she glanced at scott. he gasped at our interaction.
i blinked away a tear. theo kissed the back of my hand. “i really thought i lost you. god- i’m…i’m never letting you leave me again. i’m sorry. i’m so fucking sorry for scaring you. i promise, i promise it’ll never happen again. i’m never gonna let go of you, i’m never gonna push you away again, okay? i love you.”
i nodded gently, unable to do much else. my fingers wriggled in his hands. he squeezed mine.
scott stepped forward, “theo…”
theo met scott’s eyes. he huffed, “please. please just five minutes. i’ll leave if you want me to, but…please, scott just give me five minutes, okay? you can chase me out of beacon hills, to the ends of the earth, but please let me have five minutes with my girl.”
scott went to say something else, but mom grabbed his bicep. “five minutes.”
she began leading then to the hall, scott following begrudgingly. she looked over her shoulder to tell theo, “five minutes and then we have a lot to talk about, okay? starting with you’re gonna start going to therapy and i have a 24 pack of condoms in my office.”
my face turned beat red.
theo laughed, a relieved, gentle sound i had missed for far too long. he met my eyes again.
“i love you.”
you were looking at me. i remember. are we out of the woods yet? are we in the clear yet? good.

Premise: with the riddle solved the pack now have to face the truth their English teacher is not who they thought she was. To find out who’s responsible for the chaos in Beacon Hills they have no choice but to confront Y/n about her identity and nature. Even if it could cost them their lives.
——————————
*tick* *tick* *tick*
Scott’s eyes were on the clock, flickering over to Stiles who wore an expression similar to his. Filled with unease and wondering if what they were about to do was a mistake. The minutes were ticking away as the school day approached its end. Glancing to Allison and Lydia in the front of the classroom he could see in their neck and shoulders how tense they were, Allison nervously chewing on the tip of her pen. All throughout the lecture none could stay focused. Not when the person teaching had a harrowing secret they were about to confront.
How would she react? Better yet, how were they going to even breach the subject.
Scott could see them fucking everything up in the blink of the eye. He couldn’t help but recall Peter’s warning from the night before. “Vampires can be hostile creatures—especially if they haven’t fed for a while. They can go maybe….weeks without drinking blood before they start to lose their control. Considering Loretta—or should I say, Y/n, has been in Beacon Hills a few months I can only assume she is getting her blood by some other means than preying on its citizens. Still, approach her with caution if you decide to confront her. If I was a 130 year old vampire who was a wealthy socialite that survived one of the most famous shipwrecks in history and was being hunted by my creator…well let’s just say I wouldn’t let you leave still breathing.”
The more the seconds ticked by the more Scott was regretting the plan. After much debate the pack wanted to get to the bottom of everything quickly and that meant confronting Miss. Andrews at school. Which was very unnerving. Discovering she was a vampire only made her more intimidating after already establishing herself as someone who came off as unapproachable. Though they had few interactions, Scott found Miss. Andrews to possess an aura that reads, ‘better to wonder in silence rather than search for answers.’ Appearing no older than the age of thirty, sometimes she’d say words or phrases that made her seem much older.
Thankfully their English section was the last period of the day. Isaac wasn’t in the class but he had Miss. Andrews that morning and kept his eyes out for the necklace, however, he was unable to tell if the woman was wearing it.
The Heart of the Ocean.
What led them to her.
If she was wearing the necklace it had to have been beneath her high collared shirt that was paired with a black blazer and dress pants. Now knowing what they know, they realized Miss. Andrews always wore clothing that was sophisticated and concealed her neck area. Whether it be a turtleneck or a collared shirt, they wondered why they hadn’t found it odd before. California was hot even in the early months of the year—especially in April as they approached summer.
Peter’s words echoed in Scott’s mind, “Vampires are cold-blooded creatures. The warm weather has little effect on them and though the glimmer acts as a camouflage to other supernatural creatures it doesn’t change their nature. They’ll be cold to the touch. Faster than the speed of sound. Stronger the older they are. And some even have little gifts that separate them from others.”
“Gifts?”
“Abilities. Very rare among their kind but those who possess them are more enhanced in every aspect than others. I’ve heard stories about one who can read minds. An old…acquaintance, of mine said he once encountered a vampire who could compel anyone to do anything for them. Let’s hope neither your killer or his little creation have any talents. Otherwise your odds of coming out of this in one piece are going to be very low.”
The hairs stood on the back of Scott’s neck when Loretta…Y/n… passed him as she walked in between the aisle of desks. It was like his senses were trying to warn him despite his others unable to detect she was not human.
“What people fail to understand about Romeo and Juliet…” Loretta moves between Lydia and Allison, missing how both girls tense up. “Is that it is not a romance despite having a prominent theme of love thorough out the play. To be considered a romance it must have what you would call, ‘a happily ever after,’…” Turning to face the class, Loretta leans her back against the desk with her arms crossed over her chest. Scott almost perches up, straining his ears to see if he could pick up movement around her neck.
Her eyes scan across the room, lingering on Scott and Stiles when they quickly look away, “Specifically for the protagonist—or protagonists in this setting. Romeo and Juliet die at the end of the play, therefore there is no happy ending. Yes, their families end up putting past their differences due to the loss of their loved ones. But the protagonists did not get to ride off into the sunset and live out their lives in peace. So the more appropriate term for the play would be a tragedy. A genre focused on human suffering and sorrowful events that happen to the protagonist. And as we have learned these past weeks, Shakespeare was known for his tragedies. Romeo and Juliet is just one of his many—Macbeth, Othello, Julius Caesar to name a few.”
There were only two minutes remaining in the class. Scott tapped his pen against the book anxiously, eyes back on the clock as Siltes sent him another look. Isaac’s scent soon filled his nostrils, indicating he was outside the door. And glancing over her shoulder, Allison gave a slight nod of, ‘it’s gonna be okay,’ to try and ease his nerves.
“Tragedies can be inspired by an array of things,” Loretta moved her arms so her hands were clasped in front of her. Again, Scott couldn’t help but listen for the rustling of jewelry. All he got was a usually steady pacing of her heart. If that even was her heart.
“Personal lives and historical events.” Lydia and Alice glance at each other as do Scott and Stiles. “They dive into the catharsis of their audience. Bringing pleasure through pain because we as humans—,” the teens share another look, “cannot help but find a sense of enjoyment in seeing the main character fail. Witness their downfall. Does that say something about us in how we view others?” The question was rhetoric, Loretta watching the students think in silence before shrugging. “That is for you to decide.”
*ring* *ring* *ring*
In a hurry students gather their belongings and make their way out the door. For the four teenagers planning to stay they are slow in their movements.
“Don’t forget tomorrow’s quiz is on Act five,” Loretta shouted lightly, pushing off from the desk only to walk around it. “Then we will begin our unit on Poe so be sure to have your textbooks with you.” As Loretta starts to erase the chalkboard the teens draw to the back door of the class to make it look like they're leaving but really they stop once Isaac enters. Then with a nod, “let’s do this,” they make their way back into the classroom.
Reaching the front row of the desks, the sound of Stiles bumping into a chair catches the woman’s attention, turning to face the group with perplexed eyes making them freeze like deer in headlights.
“Well hello,” Loretta places the eraser down, surprised to see five of her students behind her. “Wasn’t expecting you all to stay after the period ended. Everything alright?” She connects eyes with all, sensing their distress.
Scott is the first to speak, “We’re sorry to bother you when you’re busy, Miss. Andrews,” he felt his heart pick when he nearly addressed her by her real name. “We were just wondering if you could help us with something.”
“Is it about tomorrow’s quiz?” Loretta is calm, collected, and shows no signs of nervousness. “Because unfortunately if that’s the case I can’t—.”
“It’s about our history project,” Allison cuts in, causing the boys to give her a look that read ‘what are you doing?’ She gives a smile when Loretta tilts her head.
“Are you asking me to read over your report? Check for any grammatical errors? That I can do for you if you have a rough draft.”
“No,” Lydia rubs her neck, watching Loretta take a piece of chalk in her hand while bidding a glance at her lesson plans on the desk. Lydia licks her bottom lip, “more like we would like some advice if we have the facts right on it.” Loretta makes a sound between a laugh and scoff.
“I think you’re better suited asking your history teacher,” she raises her brow at them. Her heartbeat is steady against Scott’s ears, the werewolf catching Isaac’s eyes to see he heard the same. “I’m afraid my knowledge on whatever the topic of your project is will be limited compared to your teacher.”
“Actually,” Scott swallows, “We think you’re the best person there is to help us.”
Lorretta makes another sound, smirking lightly like the teens were humoring her, “Oh really?” Chalk in hand she faces the board to begin writing Friday’s plan. “Why is that?”
“Because it’s about Titanic.”
Instantly they watch her hand stop mid air, clutching the chalk in a grip they’re afraid it was going to snap in half. In fact, it did break in half. Not even two seconds after the words leave Scott’s mouth, however, her hand remains in the air. A slight tremor replacing the chalk as it clunks to the tile floor.
Silence fills the room as all time stops. Loretta was paralyzed where she stood. Back facing the group where they couldn’t see her face. But considering she was frozen like a statue, it wasn’t difficult to assume she had the same expression they did when they saw her picture the night before.
Scott takes a hesitant step closer, tone cautions as he mutters, “Y/n.” Her low gasp fills his ears, physically reacting to the name. Behind him the others tense, Isaac consciously moving closer to Scott as Stiles pushes the girls back. They all wait for her next move.
“Y/n—.”
Slowly her hand comes down, head dipping slightly, “How do you know?” The question sounded like Y/n knew this day would come. That in a town where supernatural beings resided she was bound to be discovered but hoped it would be some time before she did.
The teens couldn’t hold back the shudder when Y/n faced them. Her eyes lacked any color. Pitch black like onyx and void of friendlessness. It made them wonder if she was wearing contacts or the glimmer had seeped away to show what her real eyes were. They prayed for the former, for Peter had mentioned when a vampire was hungry their eyes would darken.
Her jaw clenched and Scott instantly straightened to prepare for any sudden attack. She was stronger than him—he knew just from Peter’s warnings. While he had Isaac and Allison armed with a silver dagger, they were no match for a 130 year old vampire who could move faster than they could blink. And if she had abilities….they were straight fucked.
Instead Y/n’s voice went low, repeating her question, “How. Do. You. Know.”
Scott gulped, finding his voice, “Stiles,” with his hand out he motioned for riddle. Stiles fumbles through the front pocket of his backpack, finding the paper and passing it over as Y/n stares the entire time. Carefully the alpha drops the riddle onto the desk, using his fingers to slide it towards her and watches as she picks it up. They are silent the entire time Y/n reads the written words, her mouth tightening as though she recognized the handwriting the moment her eyes met the first line.
Her eyes then close when she finishes the final verse. “He’s found me,” she doesn’t need their confirmation, “it’s been him all along.” Him all along referencing the murders. “I should’ve known.” Her eyes open and lock on Scott, “When did he leave you this?”
“Last night.”
“Where.”
“U-uh Derek Hale’s loft.”
“Hale,” Y/n whispers, the name familiar on her tongue. “Thalia’s son.”
“You know them?” Stiles was flabbergasted. “Y-you know what they are.”
“Of course I do,” Y/n sounded offended, causing the teen to wince. “I’ve been alive 130 years. I knew of the Hale pack when Thalia's grandparents were the leaders.” There’s a pause as her gaze moves to Scott, “And I know Scott is an Alpha. Isaac is a beta. Allison is a hunter—part of the renowned Argent family,” there was a hint of distaste behind Y/n’s tone causing Allison to stiffen. Y/n rests her eyes on the redhead before ending with Siles, “and Lydia is a banshee. But you are the only human, Mr. Stilinski. Which might I say is quite the surprise.”
Stiles scratches his neck, “R-really?”
“Yes. Usually humans don’t last long with supernaturals. Would’ve thought you’d be a beta by now—seeing that your best friend is an alpha.” Seeing his friends become uncomfortable with the assumption, Scott switches the subject.
“Next week is the anniversary of Titanic sinking,” her expression instantly changed. “You were there.”
“I was,” it came no louder than a whisper, a distant look within her eye indicating Titanic was still a painful memory for the woman. “And you know then—from this,” she holds up the riddle, “What I am? What I do?”
Each of them nod, “we do.” They still couldn’t wrap their heads around it. That their English teacher, of all people, was an immortal who was aboard Titanic.
“And you’re not running for the hills,” she hums, not sure whether to find them idiotic or courageous. “How interesting.”
“Well when you live in a town like Beacon Hills…you try to get used to it,” Stiles shrugs, a little terrified when Y/n’s expression reads that of, ‘you think you’ve seen it all? You have no idea what else is out there.’
“This is how we found you….” Lydia removes the printed article with the picture of Y/n wearing the necklace. Handing it to the woman, Lydia sees her face soften, eyes lingering on the pictures of her with Theodore and Benjamin.
“Forgot this existed honestly,” Y/n mutters, finger brushing over the image. “It’s the only picture we ever took as a family. And this one,” she points to the one of only her, “this was the first and last time I had a portrait done.” A hand comes up to her neck area, all eyes following the movement where they watch her remove the Heart of the Ocean from beneath the material. It was more exquisite in person than they imagined. A stunning blue diamond in the shape of a heart surrounded by white diamonds and all along the chain.
No wonder she kept it hidden. Anyone would’ve been drawn by the beauty of the jewelry if they were to see it. Then of course there was the tiny fact it was worth 350 million dollars and the link to her past.
Y/n lets out a pained chuckle, “I’m impressed you managed to piece it together. So quickly might I add.” Her finger runs along the surface of the diamond, “but then again, Heart of the Ocean is not something you hear everyday.”
“It’s the source of your glimmer, isn’t it?”
Y/n narrows her eyes at Scott’s question, “How do you know about the glimmer?”
Stiles is the one to answer, “Derek’s uncle seems to know everything about supernatural creatures. He was the one who figured out you and your creator were vampires. Then he explained how you were able to pass as human—why they wouldn’t be able to pick up on your scent.”
“He said vampires will sometimes wear enchanted jewelry,” Allison’s gaze went back to the necklace, flicking back to Y/n who had straightened her posture, “That Druid’s can make it so you’re not affected by the sun and give off a human scent. He suspected the Heart of the Ocean was it for you.”
Once again Y/n appeared impressed, “well he was right. Which is unfortunate for me,” she mutters almost annoyed, eyes going back to reread the riddle. Scott leans more against the desk.
“We need to know who is doing this, Y/n—Loretta, if that’s what you prefer,” he corrects when her hand flexes. “And why. He gave us this riddle to find you and now that we have we have no idea what’s gonna happen next. Do you have any clue why he’s doing this?”
Y/n let out a loud exhale—prompting Scott to remember it was for show since vampires didn’t need to breathe. Having to put up the facade of being human for so long likely had the mannerisms come naturea. The riddle drops onto the table. “His name is Sebastian Lavigne. Don’t bother trying to find him on the records of passengers aboard that night—,” Stiles’ hand pauses as he jots down the name. “Sebastian didn’t have a ticket. He was a stowaway who snuck aboard when the ship docked in France. Disguised himself as a crew member so he wouldn’t get caught.” She paused to sigh again, “Quite frankly I’m not even sure if that’s his real name—he’s likely going by another alias.”
“Kinda like you?”
Y/n made a face at Stiles’s question, but answered nonetheless. “If you haven’t noticed, Mr. Stilinski, I do not age. If we stay in a place too long people start to suspect, therefore we have to move consistently and with that comes an identity change. But I always knew him by Sebastian though to the public he went by a different name. And so did I,” she glances at photos of her. “I couldn’t go by my real name after Titanic because of who my family was and everyone thought I was dead. Then of course the fact I was now a blood-sucking creature.
“Sebastian is a deceitful man. And this riddle—,” a finger aggressively hits the paper a few times, “is just one of his many games. He knows exactly where I am and only did this to mess with you. Probably because he knows you’re onto him. He wanted you to figure out what he was. Leading you to me…it was to warn me he’s coming.”
Lydia tenses, feeling a wave of dread course through her, “why is wanting to find you?” Y/n crosses her arms over her chest, glaring at the floor.
“Because he’s angry I left him. That I broke away from him. Vampires are usually nomadic—hardly ever join up together. Kinda like how werewolves have packs to make them stronger, well….a group of vampires would decimate anything that stood in their way. Sebastian’s a man who desires power,” Y/n rubs her hand on her forearm. “And together we were powerful—especially with our gifts.”
“Gifts?” Scott’s heart skipped, thinking of Peter’s warning. “You both have gifts?”
“Yes,” Y/n didn’t sound proud of it. “Sebastian can compel you to do anything—you’ve heard of him,” Y/n’s shoulders slumped at their reaction.
Stiles flexes his hand, unease in his voice, “Peter told us about a vampire like that. Said he knew someone who encountered them. Is he the only one who can?” Y/n’s nod of confirmation only increases their anxiety.
“As far as I know, yes he is. His gift is powerful, but it only works close range. Meaning in order to be affected you have to be directly in front of him. Sebastian has to stare into one’s eyes to compel them,” Y/n glances to her feet again, “but once he does they have no choice but to do what he says. And combined with mine…..” she shudders, making them frown. “No one could stand a chance against us.”
“What can you do?” Allison asks, a little unsure if she even wanted to know.
“Make you see anything I want. Whether it be tapping into your memory or my own, I can conjure illusions. Illusions derived from your greatest fear causing you to become incapacitated,” everyone’s demeanor became that of concern. “As you can imagine it came in handy when traveling with Sebastian—especially against our enemies,” Y/n comes around the desk so she’s closer to the group, “or more like his enemies since it was always him who had to instigate conflict.”
Lydia’s eyes draw in suspicion, “Why’d you leave him?” It was the question everyone wanted the answer to. And Y/n didn’t appear happy to answer it.
“He’d been keeping things from me. During my time with Sebastian he liked to isolate me—keep me from interacting with others of our kind. He didn’t want me to know I could feed without preying on humans. Or about glimmer which is why I spent most of my days locked in doors and only came out at night. He kept me from my son,” her lips tightened, “I understood why at the time…but then I found out his motives.”
The air thickened in the classroom.
“Things that could have made my fate turn out different than what it was,” her voice turned cold, eyes darkening even more. “Yes, he pulled me from the water that night…but he didn’t have to turn me into this to save me. There was another way and he chose to turn me for what I was worth to him. So when I found out decades later the truth—that he had turned me for his own selfish gain. Robbing me of the life I could have had with my son and family…”
Y/n’s hand moves to the jewelry on her neck, “I found the closest Druid I could find and had them enchant this. That way he’d lose my scent and be unable to track me.” Her hand comes back down with a sigh, “But somehow he always manages to be a step ahead of things.”
“How long ago did you escape him?” Scott wonders aloud.
“Forty years ago.”
Stiles’s jaw drops, “He’s been hunting you for four decades?”
“Likely so. With me he was more powerful. With me he was more rich,” Y/n explained, tone bitter with each word. “Shortly after we returned to New York he compelled me into robbing my own home. The amount we stole still hasn’t run dry—at least not for me,” a tinge of a smirk indicated Y/n left him with nothing when she escaped. “So I wouldn’t put it past him for devoting this many years to find me. But it’s not to get me into his good graces, no, he wants to punish me. And the best way to punish me is to play games like this,” lightning fast her hand grasps the riddle and crutches it between her fingers. “To cause chaos and hurt innocent people because he knows how much I hated it when we did. The murders. Leaving you this riddle. He won’t stop even after he’s got what he wants.”
Scott’s shoulders drop slightly, “And what does he want?”
“To kill me. Scott,” Y/n’s words send a shiver along his body. “I’ve made a life of myself without him—one where I try everyday to make up for the things I did with him. Preying on humans. Torturing the minds of those Sebastian hated. He wants me to feel that shame and regret before he finishes the job. Because that’s what he does, however, now that he’s brought you all into his game there’s not going to be an end until he’s satisfied. Once he’s through with me you will become his prime source of entertainment. Or, he’ll see you as a benefit and want to corrupt you. Just like he did to me.”
Silence fills the room as the teens take in the new information. All deep in thought wondering what to do or say next. The reality of Sebastian’s cruel nature and games proves beyond their expertise. They weren’t sure exactly how to go about it. Finding Y/n was the first step, but from what she’s told them it would not be enough.
He’ll still kill. He might even target them next—especially if they refuse whatever offer he could be planning. Y/n didn’t have to go into detail that Scott’s status as a True Alpha with a pack of unlikely allies would be something Sebastian would want to control.
And with his gift of compelling….
“We need to know what he looks like,” Scott’s the first to speak. Determination fills his gaze, “He’s got the advantage right now—a-and if he’s glimmered like you then he’s probably been passing as human.” He turns to Y/n, pleading with her for help. “You said you can show illusions. Ones that can be from your memory—can you show one with him?” The sound she responds with is one of defeat.
“He compelled me, shortly after he turned me, to erase his image from my memory because he was paranoid about us running into vampires who could read minds or Druids who could make me tap into my subconscious.” Everyone deflated at the news, but then Y/n perked up causing them to do the same. “But….he when did, he only said, ‘from this moment on.’”
Scott took a step closer, eyes full of hope, “What does that mean?”
“It means I can show you,” Y/n’s voice is low and tainted with slight dread. “I can show you the night he turned me. The night Titanic sank.”
Later that evening the pack gathered at Deaton’s clinic. It was just after sunset, around 8pm and some were starting to become impatient.
“Is she coming?” Peter grunted from where he stood leaning against a wall. “Or was this all a distraction.”
“She’s gonna be here,” Scott insisted, eyes narrowed slightly. Truth be told he was starting to worry. Y/n had promised she’d be at the clinic by nightfall but had yet to show.
“Well the clock is ticking,” Stiles fiddled with his fingers nervously.
Allison looks at the man beside her, who was checking to see if his gun was loaded with the proper bullets. “You know you didn’t have to come, dad.” Chris raises a brow, putting the safety on and placing the weapon back in its holster.
“And leave you and your friends alone with a gifted vampire who’s the reasons a psychotic one is causing hell around town? Not a chance.”
“Have you ever hunted one before?” Her voice drops to a whisper, though it doesn’t do much for those with enhanced hearing. Derek, Peter, Scott, and Isaac heard the question loud and clear.
Chris shakes his head, “No. They’re rare and not many are in America—but your great-grandfather came into contact with one in the fifties. Left us with what to do if we ever dealt with one.”
Allison gives her father a look of warning, “You can’t hurt her, dad.”
“If she gives me a reason to, I will.”
“She won’t,” she presses, aware Scott and Derek had their eyes on them. The former looked anxious.
“You don’t know how unpredictable and manipulative vampires are, Allison. None of you do.”
“She’s been in Beacon Hills for months. We asked her how she gets her blood and she said she’s been taking bags from the ER—not feeding on the town’s people,” the teen pleads, surprised with herself for defending Y/n so easily. Maybe it was the fact the vampire had been robbed of her life that made Allison sympathize. Or because she could feel the anger and fury Y/n had for her creator that she believed Y/n would stop at nothing to take him down. “And she hasn’t given any reason for us to believe she’s been working with Sebastian. She hates him, dad.” Chris doesn’t appear convinced.
“She was with him for sixty years—.”
“And she’s been without him for forty,” Allison cuts him off, promptly ending the argument. Another minute passes before all freeze at the sound of Deaton’s door chime ringing. Motioning with a hand, the doctor enters the lobby where he is met with a woman wearing a tan trench coat and boots. She spun around when she heard him approach, allowing Deaton to see the stunning jewelry around her neck. Instantly he felt the magic running through it.
“You’re the Druid,” were the first words from her mouth. “Scott told me about you.” Deaton offers a small smile.
“You must be Y/n,” when she visibly reacted to the name he apologized, “I’m sorry, would you prefer to be called—.” Her hand lifts to stop him.
“No, no. It’s fine—I’m just getting used to hearing that name again. It’s been so long since anyone other than ....” She trails off, not wanting to say his name. Deaton understands with a light nod, moving to open the gate.
“You don’t have to explain. Please, come in.”
“Did Scott inform you what to prepare?” She asks as she passes, receiving a nod from the man.
“Yes. I’m quite familiar with its effects—but I made sure to not make it too strong.” Leading Y/n into the back room, she stills at the sight of those she didn’t recognize, namely the man beside Allison and the two leaning against the wall. Everyone straightens when she arrives and her eyes go straight to Scott.
“You didn’t say we’d have guests.” Her tone is weary, making Scott move closer to show her it was okay.
“That’s Derek Hale and his uncle Peter,” a finger points to the two, glaring when he notices Peter’s eyes linger on Y/n’s figure. While he couldn’t blame him given Y/n’s striking beauty there were more important matters at the moment. “He’s the one who helped us figure out what you were.” He hears the woman make a sound similar to ‘hmph’, causing Peter to smirk and give a mock wave. Scott rolls his eyes, motioning to Chris, “And that’s Allison’s father, Chris Argent.”
Y/n’s expression tightens, appearing slightly uncomfortable with the lineup. Four werewolves, two hunters, a Druid, and a banshee? Vampires were strong creatures but even they could become intimidated. “Quite the party we have going on then.”
Stiles clears his throat to appease the tension, “uh what took you so long?” The question snaps Y/n out of the intense staring contest going on between her, Peter, and Chris. She removes her gloves to place them in her pocket.
“Well considering I’ve been out of practice I needed a pick me up to ensure my power would be at its best,” lips curl up, almost menacing which has Chris inch his hand closer to the holster. She sees the gesture and raises a brow in challenge, “Don’t worry, hunter. I didn’t sink my teeth into anything other than a donation bag.” She pays no mind to his glare, instead removing the Heart of the Ocean from her neck.
When Y/n does this a new smell enters the room right as the unusual steady pacing of her heart stops beating. The aroma is overbearing with vanilla and lavender—even for those without an enhanced sense of smell. For the werewolves, they perked up as they had never smelled anything so delightful.
“You smell that?” Y/n closes her eyes as she drops the necklace into the other pocket.
“Yeah.” Scott takes another waff of the scent, turning to her only to draw back in surprise when she opens her eyes to reveal deep red eyes replacing the color they once were. The lights from above almost made them glow. “Woah.” From behind Scott the others react to the changes of Y/n’s appearance.
Stiles and Isaac had to do a double take to make sure what he was seeing was real. Lydia and Allison shared a glance, both shuddering when Y/n made eye contact with them. Chris straightens his posture again, only amusing the vampire and Peter appears rather intrigued.
“Vampires have to lure their prey somehow,” She starts to explain. “It’s stronger for you wolves, but even you who are not are drawn by it. Makes you want to get closer, huh?” Y/n steps away, moving towards Deaton who reappears after going to the back closet to retrieve an object resembling a goblet.
“I can’t hear your heart anymore,” Scott’s tone is laced with confusion at the sudden decrease of heartbeats in the room.
“You never did. It was an illusion from the glimmer—so any creature I come into contact with would think I’m human. My heart stopped the night I turned,” the smirk she wore fell to a tight frown, “it won’t ever beat again.”
An eerie silence fills the room, her words lingering in the air. No doubt causing suspicion now that they were aware Y/n could lie and they would have no way of knowing. She could’ve been lying about everything honestly. Now they were left to wonder if any of what she said before was true.
But why would she lie? She’s made it awfully clear of her resentment for Sebastian.
The attention goes to Y/n as she removes the scalpel from Deaton’s tray and raises it to her palm. “W-what—what are you doing?” Stiles nearly gags when the skin breaks and a dark liquid like blood flows from the wound. It spills into the goblet, where a smell that could only be described as death replaces the once vanilla aroma. Deaton begins stirring the substance with a spoon while Y/n explains.
“As I’ve mentioned…” The cut disappeared without a trace not a second after Y/n lifted her hand away from the goblet. “I haven't used my power in ages—and while I fed earlier it may not be enough for it to be at its full potential. So to do this I need to remove any mental barriers from your mind.”
“And we have to drink your blood for it to work,” Peter rolls his eyes at how ironic it sounds, “how fitting.”
Y/n narrows her eyes at the man, “If you’re worried about it becoming a vampire you need not to worry. There’s no venom—that only comes from a bite. Sound familiar?” The air becomes thick and Scott moves between the two when Peter's eyes flash blue.
“What’s it going to do, Y/n?”
The vampire takes the goblet from Deaton, passing it to the teenager first, “Open your mind. To do so my blood is mixed with decade old sap from the Nematon and a rare form of wolfsbane. You’ll feel some discomfort,” she points out when all the wolves instantly become hesitant at the mention of wolfsbane, “but it won’t kill you. I need your mental state to be vulnerable. Ignore the smell—I know it’s revolting but it’ll taste like dry, bitter wine.”
Scott stares at the goblet before taking it in his hands. Inside the contents was a dark liquid with a smell that made him want to gag. He couldn’t help but ask Deaton, “You’re sure about this?”
“I’ve never worked with this before but I know someone who has. It’s potent but short lasting and won’t affect you once it’s out of your system in a few hours.” Deaton gives a look of assurance, “You might feel a pressure in your head that’s like a headache.”
Y/n adds on to the vet, “that’s so show your mental walls are dropping. But like your emissary said it’s temporary. Allowing me enough time to show you my memories in the form of illusions. But I must warn you all,” she pauses to glance at each of them. “My illusions are like vivid dreams. Where it feels real. Your body will remain paralyzed here, but your mind will be somewhere else. Not only will you see what I have to show you,” Y/n’s entire demeanor becomes serious once more. “You’ll be able to hear everything. Feel everything. The sun's rays. The cool breeze. The freezing waters…..It will be as though you’re experiencing it in real time.”
There’s a pause, letting the reality sink in on what the vampire was implying. “My question is….are all of you wishing to see what I have to show you? Now is the time to step out if you’re having second thoughts.” When no one objects, despite all looking relatively nervous, Y/n clasps her hands in front her. “Well, Scott, start us off.”
“We all have to drink it?” Stiles cringes when he’s passed the cup, Scott letting out a gag after the taste hits his tongue. Y/n smirks as she nods.
“Unless you would like to sit this out, Stiles, then yes.” Groaning, the teen plugs his nose and takes a swig before handing it to Isaac. Even after taking several gulps of water the awful taste of iron and wood remained.
One by one each person took their turn of downing the potion, with Deaton as the last one to do so. Within seconds it took effect, the most notable sign being the headache forming. Then a light feeling started to swirl all along their body. Like they were on cloud 9.
“Is this what it’s supposed to feel like?” Derek moaned, squinting when the light suddenly started to become brighter.
“You’ll get used to it in a moment,” Y/n’s closes her eyes, taking a deep breath despite not needing one. It was mostly to calm her nerves as she allowed the memory dug deep within her mind to surface. A moment later the warmth of the sun hit her skin. The smell of fresh paint and sea salt filling her nose. And the sound of a ship's whistle and people shouting echoed in her ears.
The others gasped, making Y/n open her eyes where she found them all, mouth agape and eyes bulging as though they couldn’t believe what they were seeing, staring at whatever was behind her. And when she turned around, Y/n’s lips curled up into a sad smile.
Seeing the ship of dreams again after decades filled her with an emotion she couldn’t describe—she couldn’t imagine what the pack were thinking. Probably wondering if it was a dream and they’d wake up any second. The memory was as clear as the day it was made—everything around them was exactly like it was that bright sunny Wednesday afternoon.
It was like they traveled back in time to April 10th, 1912.

Game Night
Stiles Stilinski x reader
Tumblr media
“Scott hates me” you whine, laying against the bed. In the beginning you thought it was your imagination. Now though you know it’s not all in your head, Scott hates you.
Today Stiles had a lacrosse game so you being his girlfriend were there. The game went amazing. Stiles ended up scoring the final goal of the game. You were so proud of him, the smile on his face made yours grow. You ran onto the field embracing him in a big hug giving him a kiss on the lips. He laughed against your lips holding you close to him and twirling you around. “Congrats, baby” you mumble against his lips.
He placed another kiss on your lips before telling you that he had to go to the locker room. You nodded watching him head to the locker room with the other players. He gave you a final wave before disappearing from your sight.
After a few minutes you decide to wait by the locker rooms for him. The two of you have plans to go back to his house. While waiting for him that's where you heard it. You hadn't meant to eavesdrop but when you heard your name you couldn’t help but listen.
“Is Stiles coming tonight?” you recognized the voice as Lydia.
“No he’s going with Y/n” you could hear the annoyance in Scott's voice. “This is the third time he’s declined hanging out to spend time with Y/n.”
“What’s wrong with you thats his girlfriend? Don’t tell me you're jealous” you could hear her laugh at the thought but Scott doesn’t.
“Of course I’m not jealous I just don’t like her” you could hear Lydia question why that was. His answer solidified the idea that he hates you. “Stiles can do so much better than her.” You tuned out the rest of their conversation.
You knew Scott didn’t like you but you hoped that over time he would warm up to but he never did. The rest of the group didn’t mind you the girls would invite you out shopping and to sleepovers. It was just Scott that didn't like you and you had no idea what you did. Now you find out it was nothing you did, he just didn’t like you; he thought Stiles could do better. You finally had the answer to the question that had been plaguing your mind for months.
Your problems weren't over though with one question answered, more showed up. Did Stiles know how Scott felt about you? If he knows about how Scott felt about you, would he break up with you? You know how much Stiles loves Scott so the idea that Stiles would break up with you to make Scott happy wasn’t too far-fetched.
You watched as Stiles took off his jersey throwing it in the hamper. He changed into his pajamas before sitting on the bed next to you. “Scott doesn’t hate you” he grabbed your arm pulling you into him. The two of you are cuddled up in bed together, your head on his chest while his hand runs up and down your side. You lean up and place a kiss on his lips. You weren't planning on telling him about what you heard but you did want to gauge if he knew how Scott felt.
“If Scott asked you to break up with me would you” you could tell the question surprised him. He tensed under you. Stiles had just had a big win, his shining moment and you felt you were running it and you were. It was selfish of you to bring this up but you needed to know before it got any worse.
“Where is this coming from?” he chuckled at the sudden question but stopped when he saw the look in your eyes. You were being dead serious. He could see the doubt in your eyes about your answer. It hurt him thinking that you doubted his love towards you. “Of course not baby” the sincerity in his voice made you believe him. The look of complete love in his eyes settled all your doubt.
You lift yourself up off his chest placing a deep kiss on his lips he returned the gesture right away. Pulling you into his lap, his hands on your hips as he deepened the kiss. He started to place kisses on your neck. Sucking dark hickeys into your neck mumbling small ‘I love yous’ against your neck. You whisper ‘I love yous’ back to him.Every last one of your doubts disappeared with every ‘I love you’ and kiss. You're not going to let Scott come between the two of you again. It no longer mattered if Scott liked you because Stiles did he loved you and you love him.

Lydia x Sister!reader - what’re family for
Tumblr media
Would I be able to request an imagine from teen wolf where reader is Lydia’s younger sibling, and because of her Lydia’s status vs readers, Lydia’s friends bully reader, and Lydia sticks up for reader, ditching her friends to hang out with her sibling instead? - Anon💜
Sitting on the bench, you were reading the book in your hand, you flicked your eyes up when you heard snickered and watched as Jackson walked over to you.
“Come on, you’re not really reading again are you?”
“Bite me Jackson.” You snapped.
“Oo someone’s snappy, what’s this?”
He took the book from your hands and backed away into his group of friends as he read the title aloud.
Scoffing, he tossed the book into a nearby trash can.
“Jackson!” You yelled.
“Don’t be such a nerd (Y/N), honestly live a little.” Someone laughed.
“Jackson!”
You all turned around to see your older sister coming around the corner, a scowl on her face as she turned around and slapped her boyfriend and you smiled a little.
“Seriously?!” She yelled.
“Oh come on, the little geek doesn’t mind, do you?” He snarled at you.
You went to reply but you were cut off by Lydia holding her hand up and you closed your mouth again.
“I don’t care! That’s my sister! Seriously what the hell is wrong with you all?!”
She stormed over to you, grabbing your arm she dragged you away from the ground and you stumbled after her, trying to match her pace.
Once she was sure you were far enough away she slowed down and let go of your arm and taking your hand in hers.
“I’m sorry.” She said softly.
“Not your fault…” you shrugged a little.
Lydia sighed and shook her head.
“Still they’re my friends, I don’t get why they pick on you so much.”
You shrugged a little and sat on the curb.
Lydia looked at you before walking around and standing in front of you instead of risking getting her dress all dirty.
“What did they do?” She asked.
“Ly it doesn’t matter honestly.”
“(Y/N).” She warned.
Looking up at your sister, she had her arms crossed as she looked at you, waiting for you to answer her question and you sighed.
“Threw my book in the trash.”
Lydia rummaged through her bag before pulling her keys out, dangling them in the air as she held out a hand towards you.
“Let’s go.”
“What? Where?”
“To get you a new one of course! And lunch, I know this real cute cafe you’ll just love!”
“What about school?”
Lydia laughed a little, taking your hand in hers she pulled you up and grabbed your bag, holding it out to you.
Taking it, you followed behind her as you guys made your way through the parking lot towards her car.
“Please, one day won’t affect us. You’re at the top of your class remember.” She sang.
You laughed a little and nodded sheepishly as you climbed into the car.
“Can we get some other stuff while we’re out?” You asked.
Lydia smiled softly at you as she nodded her head.
“Of course, whatever you want!”
You beamed happily and started to ramble on about all the stores you wanted to go to and a few things you wanted to buy and Lydia smiled.
You guys were two totally different people, but she loved you with her whole heart.
She would deal with Jackson and the rest of that group later on, right now she was going to do anything she could to make you forget about what they were doing to you.
Just like every time they started on you she was always going to take your side because you were her family. You were always standing behind her, evening with all the weird stuff going on right now, you never doubted her for a single second.
That’s what it meant to be family, to always be there for one another no matter what

Glimpse of Us
Fandom: Teen Wolf Pairing: Stiles Stilinski x Male!Reader/ Lydia Martin x Male!Reader Summary: I'm only here passing time in her arms, hoping I'll find a glimpse of us Word Count: 1,027
Tumblr media
"I'm sorry, Malia," Stiles softly caressed her face, moving a bit of stray hair back behind her hair, "It's not you-"
"It's about Lydia, isn't it?"
"No, absolutely not, well-"
"It's fine, I promise," She replied, just as soft, almost understanding as Stiles looked hopeless, a little bit defeated.
It wasn't Malia's fault at all, his heart was still in love with two other people, one half was with Lydia. He absolutely adored her, he thought she was too smart for her own good. She's his anchor, and he wouldn't want to change that in any way, because he knows whenever he's lost he would look for her, as a sign of reassurance.
Lydia knows her place, though, sure she had a hidden crush on Stiles for many years. She knows that cannot fill the rest of his heart, and she respects that. She dreams that one day she can make him as happy as the first person Stiles fell in love with, she doesn't care if she's technically second to you, because she had seen what Stiles was like.
Stiles watches his now ex-girlfriend walk away down the hallway to their next lesson, he leans his back against the locker with a thud. Scott approached him with a confused look on his face.
"You okay?" The alpha asked his best friend, tilting his head and eyebrows furrowed together.
Stiles merely sighs, "I can't get over him, you know? And I don't have any hope with Lydia either and at this point, I'm thinking I'm going to be single forever."
"Hey," Scott softly spoke, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, "You lost a person, Stiles, no one can tell you how to grieve them, it might take you months, years, and that's okay."
"I just feel selfish, you know? What if, by some miracle, I get with Lydia and I do the same thing I just did with Malia, everything just reminds me of him."
"He was your first love, Stiles, no one can really forget their first love."

"Truth be told," Lydia hummed, placing her chin upon her boyfriend's shoulder, "I was jealous of you and (Y/n)."
"Why?" Stiles asked, grinning at her, he was still in awe that he managed to date one of his biggest crushes.
"Well, because I wanted to know how it would have felt to be loved by you and him," She spoke honestly, she gives him a look as he return the look, "I feel your love now and I do wonder how it would be different if we had (Y/n)?"
"You would honestly have a polyamorous relationship?"
"I loved him like you did, I was just envious that you had him."
Stiles looked at his girlfriend with awe, "Truthfully, I think he liked you back, he never got annoyed that I was also pining over you during our relationship, maybe that's why I couldn't hate him. He understood me, and back then, not many did."
"He sounds like a dream."
"Now that I think about it, I wonder what it would like to be dating the two of you together, I don't think I would have believed it."
"I think it would be chaotic, in a good way," Lydia laughs, sitting up straight as she runs her hand through his hair.
"He was something of a sort, wasn't he?"
"He made a big impression, I'll tell you that," Lydia smiles at him, before lying back in bed, "Come, babe."
Stiles lies back as Lydia cuddles up to his side, he wraps one arm around her shoulders to pull her closer. Lydia smiles to herself as she can hear his heartbeat.
"Tell me about his love," Lydia says, tracing her finger over his chest, "Please."
Stiles tenderly smiles to himself, he wonders how he managed to have the most amazing person lying by him. He wonders if there is a place called heaven and if you are watching him. He wonders if you're proud of him for moving on and finding his happiness.
"Well, as you know, he was understanding but he's more than that. He listened to me and always had the best thing for my interest. He..."
Stiles stops, unable to find the words. Lydia doesn't rush him at all, as she sinks into his comfort.
"He was everything anyone could ask for. I didn't fall in love with him because he was pretty, though he was beautiful. I fell in love with him because of the way he made me feel. It caught me off guard and never have I imagined he'd be the person I would fall for and I never thought he'd fall for me too. I fell in love with him because he made me fall in love with myself as well. Well, I think that's the beauty of love."
"Yeah?" Lydia spoke, "Tell me more!"
"He was warm and loving, his hugs were tight and secure like they shielded away the horrors of the world before we even knew there were werewolves and all. He had a way with words, mostly they were compliments and little encouragement, and I believed in those words because, now that I think about it, he believed in me."
"You underestimate yourself, Stiles," Lydia expressed, "You put yourself last, you're selfless, he knew you were capable of anything and everything."
Stiles smiles to himself, "Yeah, I wish I could thank him for that."
There was silence in the dark bedroom, sometimes Stiles wishes he could be selfish. Such as wishing Scott didn't become a werewolf, maybe then you wouldn't have died.
"And, you just feel familiar, like you feel like home to me - just like he was before. I know, many people don't want to hear this, but every time I look into your eyes, I see a glimpse of him and me, a glimpse of us. And, because of that, you're comfort for me. You're a safe place and I don't want to lose that."
"Well, I'm happy to be your safe place, I'm glad you see him in me, you deserve all the happiness, Stiles, I intend to bring it to you."
