"I lied to you."

Buck pauses with a slice of pizza halfway to his mouth, turning to look at Eddie as his eyebrows creased together. "About..?"

"The day I got shot." Eddie sits up, clearing his throat, trying not to choke around the words. Clearly some wounds run a lot deeper than he ever realised. "Or, well...after."

Buck must see something in his face, because within about five seconds flat his hands are empty and the room is quiet, save for Eddie's heartbeat hammering away in his ears. "Go on."

Eddie lets out a sigh, closing his eyes as he pinches his nose between his forefinger and thumb, preparing to tear himself open. "I— I told you that I don't remember much about the aftermath. I said—"

"You said that you remember falling, and then darkness, and then waking up...did something come back to you?"

Eddie feels a little hysterical as he adjusts himself on the sofa. Because he knows what this conversation is going to do. He knows full well that things won't be the same after, because how could they be? How can they ever go back to the way they were, when Eddie tells Buck that he remembers all of it. He remembers the terror in Buck's eyes, hovering over him in the back of the firetruck as they sped through the streets of Los Angeles. He remembers Buck's voice cracking and warping as he begged Eddie to stay awake. He remembers the moment when, lying on the asphalt, eyes locked on Buck, it all clicked into place. He remembers thinking that what he'd been searching so desperately for in Ana had been right under his nose the entire time — in his dimly lit kitchen, tucked into the corner of his sofa, in the construction on sunset. He remembers it all.

7. "You're an idiot." "But you love me."

2. "It's pouring rain, why are you here?"

"And then he left. Just like that, Matty.” It’s been an hour since your boyfriend, well, ex-boyfriend walked out on you. Your first instinct was to curl up in a ball and cry, but you couldn’t do that to your roommate, not again at least.

“I so want to say I told you so, but that’d be mean. Listen, he’s a total dick and didn’t deserve you at all. You could do so much better.” You can hear the exasperated tone in his voice from getting a few too many breakup calls from you.

“You always say that. Always say that they don’t deserve me. Who does, Matt? Who’ll love me unconditionally?” He starts to say something, starts to reply with a name, but he stops himself before he lets it get there.

“Listen, Matt, I’ve got midterms coming up and I’ve got to study. Talk to you tomorrow?”

“Yeah of course.” You can tell he’s upset by how he ends the phone call, but you’re too upset and burnt out to care.

The lights flicker as the storm picks up. As much as you and your roommate have duct taped blankets over your windows, you can still feel the bone-chilling breeze freely flowing through. Grabbing a thicker blanket and your laptop, you cocoon yourself in your bed as you scroll through your professor’s lecture transcripts.

Eventually growing more and more frustrated with how you’re only able to focus on your breakup, you get up to grab a drink of… well, anything. You rummage through your and your roommate’s small collection of alcohol and settle on vodka. Before you could grab a glass, however, the pounding on the door makes you damn near piss your pants.

“You heard that too, right?” Your roommate asks, and you nod.

“Pass me the knife.” You say seriously.

“You’re not seriously going to open it, are you?” Before you could respond, the pounding continues.

“What if somebody needs help?” You grab the knife and head to the door. You slide the deadbolt open and crack the door just a little, seeing a soaking wet person standing on your doorstep.

“It’s me! Can you let me in?” Matt yells over the howling of the storm.

“It’s pouring rain, why are you here?” You throw the knife to the side and unlock the door, opening it fully so your friend could enter.

“You’re soaking wet, let me get you a towel.” You hurry off to the bathroom to grab one before Matt could cause any security deposit harming damage. By the time you get back, he’s shed his shoes and raincoat, hair dripping water on the floor while he’s talking to your roommate.

“Here, dry yourself off. Why are you here?” You ask.

“You sounded pretty sad on the phone, wanted to come make sure you were okay.” He dries himself off, his coat having taken the brunt of it, and then goes to sit in on your bed.

“I’m fine! I was just studying.”

“They’re lying,” your roommate retorts. “they were just about to break out the vodka before you showed up.”

“You little shit!” You throw a pillow at them.

“Anyways, I gotta go. Gonna have mind-blowing sex with my non-dickish girlfriend while you kids talk out your feelings.” Grabbing their coat, they flip you off and then walk out the door.

“So-”

“Who do I deserve, Matt? You’ve been saying that for years, starting to think it’s just a ploy to make me suck up my feelings.”

“You deserve the world. You deserve everything you’ve ever dreamt of having, and there’s not a single person on this earth who can give that to you.”

“So what, I’m going to be lonely? You have a real shitty sense of comfort, Matthew. Just say it, I’m not capable of being loved.”

“If that’s true, why am I here?”

“Y-you? No way. Not in a million years would someone like you love me.”

“Tell me one good reason why.”

“Because you’re the sweetest person! You go out of your way to help people, and you never complain. You’re strong and courageous and-”

“So what you’re telling me is that I’m all of these things and you don’t deserve me? Believe it, sweetheart. You’re absolutely capable of being loved, and you’re looking at someone who does, well, at least I hope you’re looking at me.” Matt intertwines his fingers with yours. You laugh, feeling tears rolling down your cheeks that you didn’t even know were forming.

“You’re in love with me, Matt. You love me.” You grin.

“I can’t believe it took you this long to figure it out. You’re an idiot.” He smiles, letting go of your hands to wipe the tears from your face.

“But you love me.”

“Yeah, I do.” You grip his shirt and pull him close, lips smashing together. One of his hands stays holding your face and the other slips down to hold your waist.

The two of you break away, out of breath, but still grinning.

“C’mere.” Matt pulls you into his lap.

“Say it again.” You say.

“Hm?”

“Say it.”

“I love you. I love you so much and I’d do anything to prove it to you over and over again.” His thumb runs across your bottom lip.

“Kiss me?” You ask.

“I would kiss you forever if I could.” He says before he leans in to capture your lips in another passionate haze.

okay so. i’m obviously still disappointed on taylor, but after everything i’ve realised it’s not worth it anymore. i’m still a fan and i cannot deny that. altho it’s true that i’ve distanced myself from her, she is and will always be a big part of my life! and i’d be lying if i said i’m not excited for 1989, bc i bloody am!! it’s one of my fave albums of all time and i really don’t have the strength anymore to let anything else ruin that for me (unless there’s a mh collab on it, then i’ll explode lmao) but the truth is that i’m just an art consumer as we all are, and she is pure art. so i’ll just keep doing my thing while she does hers. end!

that doesn’t mean i’ve erased everything from my brain or that it won’t upset me if she messes up again. but i’m choosing to stay away from drama, not just hers but fandom drama in general. the past year has been a roller coaster of emotions and i’m just tired of it. and the funny thing is that it doesn’t really matter! it doesn’t matter AT ALL. its only point is to make me bitter and out of patience, and i’m just another random person with random thoughts that won’t have any impact on her or anybody, whether i’m right or wrong, so!

in conclusion: i’m a swiftie who is not a swiftie who is a swiftie who is not part of the fandom who is a gaylor who is not an unhinged gaylor who is no one at all. hope this helps!

which brings us to the point: stfu sarah what are we going to see here. ofc taylor, but! i’m not gonna stress anymore over not missing a single post. i’ll just vibe with it and save whatever’s relevant to me from now on (i’ve saved a lot already) which are mostly graphics, fanart, lyrics and tagged posts (you can keep tagging me on everything btw, and thanks again to the few who still do lols love ya!!!) but the main content can be found on the celeb blog i run with my bestie (candyshapes), which not only focuses on taylor but she’s like 70% of it, and where my dear @jdschecter has made sure not to miss any details of the tour (thanks ems, i’d be lost without you <3) so i really recommend you follow us there !! the rest, as usual, will be a multifandom blog with special dedication to taylor and GoT.

Hi hello hi I just caught up on equinox and it's making me insane I have so many thoughts I'm just going to throw all of them at you beloved mutual. Also I listened to the Hades ost while reading this and I think it rewired my brain chemistry. Also Equinox spoilers below dear readers.

QUITE FRANKLY I do not know enough about Ancient Greek myths because it was never an area of interest for me but never the less I have been GRIPPED. Atherix was like "I hate cheating stories and I am Making An Exception for this one" so of course i had to read it and now I am simply perched like a bird staring down at this it is fantastic. Oh my god I cannot wait for everything to run through the fan here.

Scar and Grian are SUCH a mess and it is a DELIGHT. You have truly captured the Vibes here my lord. The fact that Scar remains loyal for SO LONG after Grian stops paying attention to him and keeps a shrine to his husband and grian is just. GOING BEHIND HIS BACK. AUGH. MY HEART CANT TAKE THIS. and then SCAR being like "you know what i deserve it" far be it from me to cheer on someone cheating on their spouse but FOR THE LOVE OF THE GODS MAN YES YOU DO. ESPECIALLY considering how Grian vs Scar's cheating parallel each other like Grian is LYING to himself and hurting both himself AND bigb in the process whereas Scar is FINALLY happy with Mumbo while S T I L L feeling the pull back to Grian and the way ALL of it parallels double life and how Grian and Scar see alliances and contracts as completely different and play the game different can anyone HEAR me I am SCREAMING

Scar really did go "I can have a little gay summer flirt for myself, as a treat :)" and then turned around and fell Hard for Mumbo. Way harder than I think he thought he'd be able to with a mortal. Not that that's something he thinks about much, of course. Mumbo is just Mumbo to him, he doesn't care about what he is. Scar you really should tell him you're a god. You really should do that my dude.

Yes Mumbo is Etho's son and it was entirely accidental 😂 I was like "Well this is who Mumbo is in the AU and then a couple of days later "Oh I know who Etho is" and then it took me like an hour from there before I made the connection.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

Dialogue I think? Or characters. I think this is literally also the reason why I can never buckle down to write a whole series because plot for me isn't exactly necessary for a fic. I have an idea of what I want the character to say, or the general relationship between the two of them but other than that it's all a blank slate until I get it down on paper. Very rarely do I have an idea of the plot.

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

My brain really blanks when it comes to tropes. Friends to lovers, a well-written miscommunication that has like actual basis in characterization, despite all the red flags I love an age-gap. Ironically, I also like good communication. Idk how to describe it, I like things to be like this fight in When Harry Met Sally, there's a bit of lying and hiding but then it all comes out and is addressed properly.

Tracing it all back I think it has to be i don't swim and you're not in love by @hattalove, because that's the fic that made me follow her and then things just evolved from there 💖

I think I gain more appreciation for fics the more I read them, but reading Your Fingerprints Smeared on My Heart (Lead Me Back to You) by @letmetellyouaboutmyfeels chapter by chapter as they were being published means it was a different experience than reading it all in one go. Although every chapter just on its own already sent me into lying-on-the-floor mode, so I don't know if I could take it all in one go not knowing how things work out!
