Caithe is actually such a compassionate character. She's so isolated and lonely and it's kind of heart breaking watching it but once you realise that she is constantly, consistently reaching out to people it's so much worse.

Caithe is the one who tried to repair Destiny's Edge, and thanks the commander constantly for being there for her during Dungeons, and she's the one who reaches out and worries if the commander is hurting over Aurenes loss too, but she's so alone for so much of the story despite the fact she is trying so hard to be a good friend. She's just so afraid at the same time.

Asura Appreciation Week 2023 Day 1

Talk about one of your asura OCs! Who are they? What's their deal?

I decided to talk about Gliaster (they/them but any is fine) since they're my most developed asura, AND also my player character! (not Commander, just player character)

Here they are in ~1331 AE:

Who are they? Ex-wife of Joko! What's their deal? Love!

Basically, a necromancer obsessed with necromancy who read about Joko in a book in Divinity's Reach and became obsessed with him too. They travelled to Elona to learn necromancy from him but in the process they also fell head over heels for him. Dated, then married for 10 years, Joko's death shook Gliaster to the core, but instead of taking revenge on the Commander and Aurene, they decided to disappear from the face of earth and write books about him to preserve his memory and knowledge. Many years later, books published with great effort, they're now ready to culminate their expertise as a necromancer and become a lich; however, the power overwhelmed and somewhat corrupted them, causing them to ignore all their past ideals. They're now hellbent on getting revenge on not only the Commander and Aurene but the entire world. Lo and behold! The next supervillain in a never-coming future expansion who causes the next cataclysmic event in Tyria. <3

(LWS4 content) Nastazya's gaze lowers, a small grimace as she recalls a key moment. "...When I thought Aurene and I had finally taken down Kralkatorrik at Thunderhead Peaks. All the struggle, gone, just silence. And then he got back up."

Her tail fur spikes up slightly, curling a slight. "I saw that dragon's open maw, the magic forming in its throat. After all my fighting, I was going to end up like my mother. A piece of crystal, forced to kill those I knew, my cubs weren't even in fahrar yet and they were about to lose me... For the first time, I'd crawled backwards in fear until I felt the rock wall behind me. I couldn't do a thing but watch in horror... Felt like my heart was going to burst."

She sighs. "And then Aurene got in front of me, saved me. Got branded herself, any fear I had then turned into despair. I am... Just so thankful that it wasn't her end after those months of despair."

They were both staring at what little information they had about the situation with Kralkatorrik. The lands were hostile, the bare minimum of data was scraped from their allies. Marwyd and Canach realized they were working with straws here, but there was an unspoken, unwavering strength in that notion. Silence was the proverbial duct tape holding them together as they wracked their mind on handling the situation.

Eventually, duct tape frays. Gives way. Friction, the weight of everything, time... Marwyd was the first to break this silence.

"Hey," he turned his entire body, the larger sylvari looking down at Canach who was still deeply analyzing the data in front of them.

"Commander?" he replied.

"Just wanna say-- er," Marwyd stumbled on his words. "Ya'know."

"I don't know."

"I think'ya do."

Canach raised one of his spiked brows, looking up at him fully, attention fully diverted. "If I knew, I wouldn't be yanking your chain at a time like this. Speak up. Is this about the dragon or--?"

"I mean-- sorta? I guess, it's about all the dragons..." he paused, rolling his tongue between his teeth. "And you,"

"Me?"

"Yeah," he took a deep breath. "Thanks." Another pause, Canach's head lifting ever-so-slightly more. "Fer everythin'."

A look of confusion passed Canach. Purple eyes were analyzing the cowboy in front of him as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, the sound of taught leather gloves pushing against his rubbery skin. There was a tight silence again-- and not the kind that held them together anymore. It was a flaming silence. A screaming silence. Violent. Thrashing. It's claws were ripping into the two of them. It was gnawing at their bones. It was right there, staring them both in the eyes, and it was rolling its jaw in preparation for a fatal kill.

Canach backed down from this. Not now. Not like this. The smaller sylvari turning his head back to the data. "Wait until this is over before you start throwing around thanks. Don't curse this whole operation for us, Commander."

Marwyd held his mouth open for a moment as if to protest, but took the hint. That damned silence was staring at him, and he could feel his spikes practically standing on end. With a shake of his head, he managed to throw it off, turning his body. "Right," he agreed. "Guess I'll get out there,"

Spurs clinking on the ground signaled his departure.

"Commander, don't get killed. Not again."

The silence bore its teeth.

Marwyd looked back, eyes wide.

Yet he said nothing.

They both left that pavilion, near fatally wounded.

Okay, so there's this idea I've been toying with Chrysallus.

During lws4, he kinda has this moment where his mind just- shifts. There seems to be no obvious cause (other than potential stress finally getting to him) and it's not noticeable until he and Canach is putting up the bramble walls for their staging ground in Kourna.

They had to clear out the guards and the sentries, preferably without drawing attention for reinforcements.

Setting up the bramble walls for Canach took no time at all. Chrysallus, on the other hand, took far longer. The only indication that he was still there was him grabbing many more bombs and having a field day decimating any and all troops present on the field, explosions echoing in the distance.

When the bramble walls came up and he returned, Chrysallus had this strangely off putting grin, giggling about how much he's enjoying seeing his enemies blown to pieces. Out of character, for someone who is usually calm and collected.

My thought for this: Chrysallus is the Pact Commander. He has followed fairly close to the actual game plot. But what if, due to just a misplaced object or two, he ended up getting hypnotized back in Caudecus's Manor in lws3?

Anyone who chose the "run away to the circus" option in character creator may remember the grizwhirl in the human PS. It was practically a brainwashing device.

What if there was one in there, and while Chrys was mumbling his Soundless-esque mantras to rein his emotions in, he was staring at one that happened to be on, and now his brain is shut off while his impulses take the reins

Going back to blowing up the guards in Kourna, he was nervous about getting caught and recited his mantras. Unfortunately, they now function kind of like trigger phrases, and now every time he uses them to calm down, now he's self-hypnotizing himself and he's acting on impulses he never would normally

Still needs some thought, but my brain is going brrrrrr

Do you have an Inquest OC? How did they end up in the Inquest? (If you don't, what college did your OC attend?)

I do! Except I don't know yet how she ended up in the Inquest. 😭 So I'll just tell what I do know about her; Rikka was a specimen research leader at Rata Primus when she got killed and Awakened. She continued her work like nothing happened but after Joko's fall she relocated and formed another Krewe (still in the Inquest of course, and still torturing innocent creatures for science, of course).

Also, fun fact: she's a Holosmith and she has her own little DIY light/sun orbs when direct sunlight's not available!
