hard disagree; I think his transmisogyny shows in his analysis in the book pretty clearly already
this is just some notes bc i have actual drafts elsewhere & really want to do a proper writeup but adhd will not let me
main pts:
his theory of socialization-into-abuse boils down to, basically, “monkey see, monkey do”—that boys grow into misogynistic men bc they saw male role models (for example his example of fathers) and copy. this presumption that simply bc they see therefore they’ll copy relies on a preexisting automatic alignment/identification with “male” gender roles—that cisness is natural/biodetermined, basically. he doesn’t state that outright—he obfuscates, claims “well yeah patriarchy is not rooted in biology”—which is the TERF POV, “well technically it’s not bio,” but instead they target “gendered socialization,” but their prediction for the result of the socialization is rooted in biology.
he weights his examples so that it’s more likely to “prove” this theory. some particularly egregious ones are how he talks about some boys supposedly seeing the father abuse the mother and then starting to abuse the mother too, and commenting on it in a way suggesting that mothers are the central victims of domestic abuse (he also generally centers mothers over girls), that sons abuse mothers (in general) and mothers don’t abuse sons (or that if they do, it’s just basically a stress-result of the father’s abuse of her, eliding the intersecting axis of adultism—also why his views on vaccines & children rn etc are shitty) (also goes w/how he treats child abuse as a side, always, to intimate partner abuse; doesn’t consider that maybe child abuse might be the core violence of the family, and partner abuse structured around that/from that, the other way around; just overall fails to center children’s experiences of abuse) (plus the outright child abuse apologia/advocacy where he refuses to condemn all child abuse, says some of the stuff fathers do is bad bc “takes away from the mother’s authority over her own child,” says it’s fine & necessary to force children to do homework etc, has multiple passages where he says stuff along the lines of “abuse bad bc don’t treat women like children”)
transfeminists argue that “cis male” socialization is a product of material power granted to cis male identity & misogynistic violence in a patriarchal society, not tautological relations btwn “identity/biology”—lundy doesn’t recognize this though, so his analysis locks out transfem survivors from legibility (his understanding of queerness is also simplistic and tends toward more binary thinking/being closer to assimilationist het standards than what many of the rest of us would say in analysis, which is unsurprising given the rest)
there’s a section where he tries to talk abt race issues, and claims that an Indigenous culture did not have any misogyny/patriarchy/domestic abuse pre-colonization, but after TV was introduced they also started having dv issues bc, basically, apparently the men saw the white men abusing women & so adopted the ideas. presuming, again, that “man” is an identity which cuts across all cultures (relies on bioessentialist assumptions abt “humanity” & gender) and that just bc a “man” anywhere shares this supposed “male essence” then he will automatically see any other unfamiliar “man” as a role model/identify with the same gender role. also leaned on some pretty gross assumptions abt, basically, “innocence”/ideological/epistemic purity of the ~pre-modern~ & that basically ppl don’t abuse if they haven’t been introduced to the ideas yet (analogous to his views on children being “socialized” into abusers—implicit innocence/purity again, simplifying their thinking processes in a paternalistic way, idea that they can’t think of complex things for themselves w/o adult guidance).
also as he centers domestic (cis, het) motherhood as primary victim of patriarchy he also erases sex workers’ positionality (his section on pornography & it ~causing violence thru objectifying Women~ is a pretty good example)—it was very SWERFy, which lines up
I feel the cissexism (& adultism, that usually goes hand in hand w/it) is pretty clear to me from a read (esp w/materialist, transfeminist, youthlib, decol. / anarchist lenses), it ticks off a lot of the usual radfem boxes—which is especially disappointing to me as a trans survivor (& also a minor & person w/an abusive mother who does apologia for my father’s abuse; limited nonintersectional radfem/TERF activism has left us behind a lot) though I get why ppl might not see it/feel it’s as obvious, it is a book that in many respects is extremely helpful & revolutionary. but that just makes it worse, imo, when we (intersectionally marginalized survivors) are pressured to rely on incomplete resources like these that don’t like us and are fundamentally exclusionary of us and ultimately lacks a lot of what we need
(side note, another complaint I had abt the book but which isn’t as directly related is his investment in the state/policing/prisons/the psych industry, generates power imbalance (inherent to his position as a legitimized therapygiver) and also gives him major blind spots like his cop advocacy for solution (doesn’t mention the whole 40% thing, ofc) and what seems like an aversion to survivor militancy as praxis? (can’t be certain of that, but for example he had a part where he said that women physically attacking abusive partners is “assault” & bad (& don’t do it, you might get urself in legal/adjacent trouble (iirc?)) unless it’s self-defense in response to direct present immediate physical threat—I was a bit shocked reading that, was a really ignorant statement imo & acts like physical self-defense against “non-physical” psychological abuse is not a valid tactic that many survivors use or would like to use, and the direct/present/immediate danger requirement ignores the context of persistent ongoing (incl background) threat abuse occurs in)
(i found the book very helpful too but ultimately we deserve much better)

The absolute worst part of homebrew Dungeons and Dragons campaigns is that I can’t lurk in online discussion threads about plot theories, there aren’t ridiculously long character analysis videos I can put on while I clean my room, I can’t fangirl (gender-neutral) with others about favorite NPCs, I haven’t set any fanart as my phone background, and I can’t read a plot summary on Wikipedia to learn spoilers in a 2AM moment of weakness.
I could go on for lengths about how fascinating it’s been to watch the campaign universe expand and blossom into the storied and beautiful entity it is,
about how proud I am of our newest player for really stepping up into roleplay and helping provide for an intensely engaging plot,
about how much I adore the little physicalities everyone adopts when acting,
about how weak I am for Elion interactions,
about the shivers I felt when Morgana stood firm on her beliefs and how impressed I am with that player’s creative spell usage,
about the tears that fell from my friends’ eyes as soon as my voice began to crack in-character,
and about just how goddamn motherfucking excited I am to see this arc of our longtime running campaign through to its end, whatever that may be.
But those names mean nothing to people who aren’t there with me on the bedroom floor, rolling dice and clasping their hands over their mouth when the twist comes to light. And at the same time, that’s the best part of homebrew D&D.
The best part of homebrew Dungeons and Dragons campaigns is that they will forever be something special and intimate shared only between people around which you can show such a vulnerable part of yourself.
There’s inside jokes that make me giggle every time, there’s the knowing glances exchanged across the room when the consequences of past arcs are hinted at, there’s the simultaneously hated and respected tension built at the end of a session knowing we all have to wait until next time and we can’t just look up the answers online. I’m so lucky to have the most brilliant DM and the coolest group of players that I could ask for. The internet doesn’t create fanart but my DM prints out in-universe newspapers with original writing and as of today, an original picture (of MY character no less), and there are some crazy talented artists in my group who produce wonderful character designs and stunning renditions of session scenes. I would love their art either way but I almost feel like their scarcity makes them that much more meaningful. There’s no subreddits for our campaign but we have Discord messages showing insane and passionate rambling about narrative ideas and character development. We have the most dedicated note-taker and I appreciate their work dearly, not only in helping us down the line in recalling important information but also effectively creating a written highlight reel that I would otherwise search for in YouTube compilations. The people who showed up for today’s session showed UP if you get what I’m saying. They proved their commitment. They proved their intrigue. I’m just so happy to be a part of it all. A massive thank you to @nplutonian, the sinister and loving genius who facilitated all of us being here in the first place.

Hello I mcyt fandom-ified la Team du Lundi members and wrote a shit ton of text about it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After exhausting myself on trying to catch up on the current QSMP lore I got a sudden craving for a more familiar and fast paced kind of minecraft content and ended up rewatching all the Team du Lundi's SMP best of's I could find
And while doing so with my brain still hazed in fandom brainrot, I started picking up on minor details or info the players casually dropped, and drew parallels to the French speakers' QSMP counterparts This is going to be a long wordy post I don't even know what I am rambling about and for. Three things you need to be aware of about la Team du Lundi before reading :
Baghera, Antoine and Etoiles are the only QSMP players that are part of la Team du Lundi
As far as I remember the only two elements that suggest that la Team du Lundi's SMP could be canon to QSMP are Antoine being pressured into building another Tower of Shit, and Baghera's infamous fountain being mentioned when she was asked if her character remembers anything from her past before the island
La Team du Lundi's SMP was NOT a roleplaying server, it was just a private survival server for a small circle of friends casually playing together. So whenever I quote someone in this specific post, it is the streamer : there is no character other than the persona the streamer is usually showing on stream, but I just thought it would be fun to interpret certain situations while keeping in mind the QSMP lore. And here goes :
Baghera claims that when she was a kid she strongly believed that she could breathe underwater. The others joke about her having fins
Antoine jokingly tells Baghera he doesn’t need oxygen at all
Antoine claims he will still be alive thousands of years forwards
Antoine’s voice shifts when he wants to appear creepy
Baghera built an aquarium at her place, then helped Antoine build one at his tower, then built a giant swimming pool, then a fountain, then a waterslide- do you see a theme ?
Baghera knows that her skin is actually that of a chick and not a duckling, and calls it so here
Chat said that Baghera has a middle child syndrome, justifying that she bullies Angle Droit because Etoiles bullies her in the first place (Etoiles has also called her « little sister » in a derogatory way)
Etoiles has repeatedly asked people to play Valorant with him at least once
Here's a clip of Etoiles getting languaged in french and owing "a gifted sub in the swear jar"
Unrelated random clip of Etoiles because it creates happy hormones in me brain
Etoiles is regularly refered to as "the warrior"
Etoiles guided the whole group during an expedition to the End and he was literally glowing doing so (enchanted arrows effect) Everyone called him "the guide"
Baghera was the one who gave the final blow to the Enderdragon (and died from magic right after)
Etoiles spent most of his time adventuring in order to bring stuff and gear back to everyone for their builds
Etoiles asked Aypierre for help in order to design a redstone door for his cave which could only open upon solving a puzzle (which was egg & arrow related) (Aypierre was not a member of the server)
Etoiles built a nightclub with the walls and ceiling covered in wardenblocks making it look like a starry sky. He also rehomed Allays holding golden apples inside claiming them to be the souls working for him and that they lived there peacefuly
Etoiles jokingly talks about Antoine acting jealous and violent towards him because Etoiles told him he wanted to go and visit Kameto (who also was not a member of the server)
Baghera (along with Horty) had a rivalry with Joueur du Grenier (host of the server with admin powers) after he decided to build a massive parking lot right next to their house. They countered by covering the whole thing with dirt, followed by JDG building a factory and the two parties went back and forth. Baghera argued that it was stupid because they didnt even have cars to begin with (which is a sentence she reused when talking about Forever's roads) Also she tells JDG that he could've built a seaport instead, which makes JDG contemplate the thought of building an airport (and though he ended up never building it, I am side eyeing the French's plane crash)
At some point JDG wonders about what a roleplaying minecraft server would look like (RPZ 2), to which Baghera replies that she has a hard time picturing the thing "We'd all just build things you see ? I don't think we'd create stories, we would all just be like "I'm a builder, ah you too ? Well awesome, builders, cool"" and I find this to be hilariously ironic (fun fact : Baghera had no idea that QSMP was a roleplaying server when she first joined and often claims she would've taken a different approach with her character had she known right off the gate)
As I was finishing to write this down, these fuckers (/lh) decided to host a closure night for the server as they've never really officially did it, everyone just sort of deserted the server after a while. Baghera, Etoiles and Antoine kept referring to QSMP throughout the night, mostly talking about how weird it felt without mods. Among other meta commentary things
They mentionned Cellbit and Bad multiple times as the group was trying to solve enigmas. Antoine talked about "the cultural sharing" between communities as he taught insults to each others with Mike, Roier and Maximus in their respective languages Multiple more players were namedropped (including eggs) while Antoine was talking about how the server functions
Yes, Baghera and Etoiles kept their QSMP skins. Etoiles with his code corrupted purgatory one, and Baghera with her fading pink disheveled hair (with the addition of her cubito wearing Horty's merch)
Baghera admits that going back to this small familiar vanilla server feels like coming back home to your family during the holidays
Team du Lundi's cameos in QSMP :
Though Pomme has never canonically met JDG (even though most of her parents have talked about him to her at least once), she occasionaly breaks the 4th wall to refer to him. She once compared one of BBH's "vacation" flower shirts with his, and when Foolish and Bad asked her to elaborate (obviously not getting the reference) she proceeded to play JDG's music theme with the flute instead (Also I really feel the need to once more point out how mindblowing it is for your average french speaking viewer to have JDG's intro theme being added to the mod they use in the QSMP because of how anchored it is within french internet pop culture. Like this shit has been existing for 14 fucking years, it's part of the childhood of a lot of us, so to find a clip of British hardcore player Philza peacefuly listening to Mexican egg admin Tallulah play this theme on her flute feels like a multiverse fever dream)
Horty has been on Quesadilla Island through cc!Baghera's account, but neither of them really wanted to justify it RP wise. Baghera just wanted to give her best friend a tour of the island. Horty only got to meet Richarlyson who gave her a tour of Cellbit's castle and made her pick a room (she chose Chaos). She also chatted with Etoiles who tagged along for a bit and (this is obviously justified by it being a one-shot out of roleplay filler episode kind of night) they both already knew each other and were on friendly enough terms to bicker with one another Also she was part of the French speakers Quackity reached out to to invite on the server, but she had to decline because she was very busy at that time (and also not interested) Also also she was Baghera's teammate for that Formula 4 event, and Baghera has discussed it and showed pictures to a couple of islanders, including Richas who was very hyped about it
Another player the viewers were hoping to see on Quackity's server is Mynthos. He exists within the server with the picture of him that hangs in Pomme's art gallery, the cursed animation video that used to play in La France, as well as with Aypierre's health potion factory that bears his name
Angle Droit and Zerator are sometimes namedropped when the French speakers talk with their chat. Angle Droit frequently raids Baghera's and Antoine's streams, and though it has never been confirmed, a lot of viewers theorized that she was the +1 player Baghera and Etoiles wanted to invite on the server had they won the elections.
As for Zera, Etoiles went AFK on QSMP a couple of times in order to test some of Zerator's TrackMania maps (which he later discussed with Pac). I also remember a very trivial conversation Etoiles had with Mouse and Aypierre where he laughed about hurting his back very badly after carrying a fellow streamer during a caritative event, said event was hosted by Zerator (he's also the one judging them with concern from his desk)
I'm done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus alternative design for Angle Droit because at first I thought she was a fox then it turned out she was a corgi but then she changed it again to a fox and woop

I just finished In An Absent Dream and I have to say something.
I didn’t get a chance to get very far into Every Heart A Doorway before the pandemic hit and I had to return it to the library. I was a bit sad, because I had enjoyed it so far, and so when I finally got a chance to go back yesterday I beelined for the small library’s proportionally-small SyFi/Fantasy section to find it. Unfortunately it wasn’t there, but I saw the stand-alone novella and thought “Sure, why not.” I checked it out, opened it up, and fell in love. I don’t know how to describe it, other than saying that it feels like you were telling a story rather than putting the facts of one on the page. The style, the breathless anticipation as I followed Lundy’s journey, the contentment as I settled in to read it… They were all things I thought I had lost the ability to appreciate. It felt like coming home in the bittersweet way that you regretted leaving at all.
Anyways, TL;DR of my rambling, thank you for giving me something that had me finishing a book in (almost) one sitting for the first time in years.
Oh, this is wonderful. Thank you so much for reading, and I'm truly glad that you enjoyed it!

The Quarantine Kwami Baking Championship
Adrien is a Fcking Idiot
Adrien is Still a Fcking Idiot
I mean, really tell me about all any of them and I'll be happy as a clam👀👀👀
I talked about Adrien is (Still) a Fcking Idiot here, but I don't think anyone's asked about the Baking Championship yet?
It was 100% the fault of Spitballing in the Disco from back when people were first going into lockdown? I think it was around the Fleels fic and Luka Lundis, at least. But the idea was Luka and Marinette are in lockdown, going a little stir crazy, so they host a bakeoff with the kwamis? I think this is where my "Sass eats Meringue Kisses" HC came from, because that's what I have Sass baking for the competition. It's all just Quarantine and Kwami shenanigans: Xuppu running out for more bananas and Marinette flipping out, giving him a disinfectant bath; Sass getting his tail stuck in the apple peeler attachment on Marinette's mixer and someone cranking up the speed until he flies out a window and forfeits to sulk; everyone agrees to let Nooroo win because Nooroo; Marinette just trying to occupy the kwamis because they're going stir crazy while Luka's trying to keep them distracted so he can get some alone time with Marinette (because they've been in Quarantine it shouldn't be this hard to get smoochies but the kwamis are always there dammit).
I don't have anything beyond note rambling to share for it, though. 😂

I'm too lazy to type the rest rn... there are more of 20 something pages, each with 30 titles per page. Yes. I'm sure I can finish all by the end of this year. But I'm not gonna type it all here.
TBH I've been reading 4 books per day since I was at least 13. I beat my own record by reading 7 books (Narnia Chronicles) in one day once. I was bored. Anyways I never tried it again or at least I was never interested in doing it so. But yes. I can read them all by the end of the year. I'll bring to you the whole list (I'll take pics but let me tell you my handwriting is messy so don't expect too much of it.)
If you by chance finish the books listed here during the year, send me an ask and I'll drop a couple of titles here.
The book titles might be a bit weird but that's because I'm trying to research for my future project. I promise, I'm a writer lol
