Rinoa, Kairi, and Snow Villiers are all the same genre of character. Rinoa gets captured a lot because she's so willing to fight and so willing to get in over her head to try and do good in the world. And that's why she's the best!

I never played XIII (I watched my husband play but it's been awhile and most of what I remember about that game was calling Hope Baby Bowie, and thinking the entire story should have been about Fang and Vanille).

But oh, Rinoa. The whole reason they meet her in the first place is because she wasn't content to sit back and watch things happen, she wanted to take action. And she continues to do so, throughout the whole game. Her responses to things are completely appropriate for her--when she gets terrified at Edea's parade--Squall even says "you aren't ready for this" because she *isn't.* And Irvine gets really freaked out too to the point he almost can't do his job. Quistis disobeys orders and almost screws up the entire mission.

Plus like. They have to rescue Squall inside D-District prison, and then Irvine and Rinoa come rescue the party. Squall has to be rescued from time compression. Rinoa making some dumb choices but that are right for her character and watching her grow in how she makes those choices? Brilliant.

She really is the best. 10/10 agree. <3

Yotsuyu goes with the group to Babil after Fandaniel bc of how he wears the face of one of her tormentors. She tanked Babil as a pyromancy-enhanced gunbreaker and will likely either tank or MCH the Zodiark fight. Likely MCH bc her Tsukuyomi abilities as a MCH are enhanced here bc of what happened.

And after that she is gonna go home and have a good long bath and proceed to cuddle with her favorite person bc that was NOT fun in the slightest.

Possible trigger warnings for: Stalking, kidnapping mention, general yandere themes (obviously)

- Fluttershy first spotted you when you were wandering at the edge of the Everfree Forest near her cottage. She had been outside tending to some of the animals when she spotted you, quickly hiding in some nearby bushes.

- She already thought you were gorgeous. The way your mane sparkled in the sunlight, she was amazed. But then she saw how nice you were with the animals that approached you, how you fed them some of the berries you had been picking. And with that she was instantly obsessed.

- She couldn’t stop thinking about you. She constantly wished she would see you again, but she knew even if she did, there was no way she’d ever be able to approach you. Talking to anypony was already hard enough, but talking to somepony as perfect as you??? Impossible.

- Fluttershy would spend nearly every single day outside her cottage, just hoping you would come back to that specific spot near the forest. She even turned down every opportunity to hang out with her friends, in case you came along while she was out.

- Her animals were always watching for you, by her request. Fluttershy instructed them to keep an eye out for the gorgeous earth pony with the beautiful mane, but that could’ve been anypony. Only the animals you had fed knew who she was talking about, but even still, every animal was alert for the pony who might fit that description.

- One day, she finally got her wish. Just as she was preparing lunch for her animals, a squirrel had run up to her. He had recognized you, and told Fluttershy you were currently at the market in Ponyville. She immediately dropped everything she was doing to go and see you.

- She was only able to watch from afar, still much too nervous to approach, but now that she knew you came here, she was there nearly every single day. As much as she possibly could be, just hoping to see you again.

- Fluttershy often daydreamed about how she could get you to notice her, but never made any real attempts. The thought of kidnapping you crossed her mind, you were an earth pony after all - it shouldn’t be too hard to kidnap somepony with no wings or magic. But she would never be able to actually go through with it.

- Eventually, just watching you at the market was no longer enough for Fluttershy. She began following you home, as well as anywhere else you ended up. It didn’t matter where. Hanging out with friends, going about your day as usual. Work, school, whatever it was - she would be there.

- No matter where you went, Fluttershy would always be there too. Her quiet nature made it extremely easy for her to blend into the background, and you never even noticed her. It hurt, but she was also grateful. She would never have to worry about upsetting you or being rejected if she just watched you like this. Part of her preferred it.

- In time she knew your schedule perfectly and could plan her entire day around it. The only thing she ever did aside from taking care of her animals was follow you around. Her friends were concerned that she wasn’t hanging out with them anymore, but they never knew where she was and she always insisted she was fine, so there wasn’t much they could really do.

- Sometimes she would leave you gifts outside your house. Just little things she noticed you looking at at the store, or things she made herself that she was sure you would like. You never had any idea where these things were coming from or who could be leaving them.

- It got so bad that she barely slept, as she was too busy watching over you from outside your house while you slept. Sure, she was shy, but if anyone were to try and hurt you, they would pay greatly.

- She bought a camera to bring with her as she followed you around. That way, she could at least have pictures of you even if she couldn’t be near you. Part of her was heartbroken that she would never be able to speak to you, but another part of her was content. As long as she could see you, and you were happy, she was happy. And she would do anything to keep it that way.

I'm gonna go waaaaaaaaay back in time on this one, but Ashbear & Wayward's Somewhere In Between.

That is actually the fic that got me into the FFVIII fandom! I had been writing for VII, but got involved in an RP on livejournal as Rinoa (one of my only RP experiences! The other being a lotr rp also on livejournal when I was in high school). The Seifer in that group was really good and we chatted a lot and they recommended that fic to me. I hadn't read anything from VIII before and I just fell in love with it. And the rest is history.
