Inspired by a bunch of El Santo movies to draw these two in 60s/70s outfits. Also if you see this post, just comment "hi" or something, need to see if this page is dead

The Existentalism of Lucha Libre
“Wrestling is just ballet with violence.” -Jesse Ventura
After tacos, tequila, and mariachis, Lucha Libre is perhaps the most prominent international symbol of Mexico. Although the birth of Luca Libra can be traced back to 1863, it became a national phenomenon when “the father of Lucha Libre” Salvador Lutteroth González founded the World Wrestling Council in 1933. Inspired by wrestling in the United States, Lucha Libre shares many similarities: Rivalries, alliances, choreographed fights, and soap opera style story lines, among much else. But there is something special about Lucha Libre, something electric in the air when you sit down among the rowdy crowd and look up at the ring. It is easy to mock with the obviously planned matches and silly costumes (one of my favorite wrestlers dresses as an orange tiger, the crowd affectionately calls him “Frosted Flakes”). But Lucha Libre allows people a few hours to forget about their problems and just make noise: Cheer, boo, scream, and clap. Don’t let anyone tell you Mexico City is not a difficult place to live, with violence, crime, and poverty always lurking around the corner. No doubt your problems will be there at the end of the night when the bright lights come on. But for a few hours you can cease to exist and enjoy the outrageous spectacle of grown men and women throwing each other around (and out of) the ring. Pick your favorite fighter and scream until you’re hoarse.
Action figures sold seperately.

Just released with little to no fanfare from Vinegar Syndrome, this disc of El Santo’s only film shot in Spain is just superb. With plenty of Eurotrash familiars in the cast, batshit mad science, higher production values than usual and arguably the single finest piece of music in the entire luchahero genre, it’s also a must-see for being widescreen for the first time ever. And the English dub done back in the day is included as well… #elsanto #luchalibre #cinemexicano https://www.instagram.com/p/CmxVMMVPNQR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
