If your custom mysterious hut does work, can you either post a tutorial or point us to the one you used please? The non-custom one really annoys me because it doesn't have a ceiling! >:( I know it wasn't a construction concern pre-AL but still.

It did work :D And I don't mind telling what I did.

Below a read more, because you'll need SimPE to properly hide it from neighborhood view. And I like to include pictures with SimPE tutorials, to make them easier to follow :)

It basically comes down to this:

Create a community lot in your vacation destination subhood. It can be any size. I used 2x2

Build your lot as desired. A custom Mysterious Hut must have a cheap dishwasher, a cheap microwave and the Feel The Breeze hammock. You have to use the one with the trees. The other one won't work.

When you're done, save and exit the lot.

re-enter the lot and press CTRL+C to enter the cheat: changelotzoning secretvacationlot You won't be able to make any changes or save. (Which is why you had to save and exit in the prior step.) Exit the lot.

Exit your game and open SimPE

Load your neighborhood with Tools>Neighborhood>Neighborhood Browser.

You can pick your subhood from the dropdown menu on the bottom right:

Find and click Lot Description LTXT in the resource tree

Find your Mysterious Hut lot by name and click on it

Find the box called U0 in the plugin view. This is were your change the lot from visible to invisible. Add 10 to the value in the box to hide it. Subtract 10 to unhide. My value is 0x00002023, so I'll need to change it to 0x00002033.

Click Commit. Save your changes.

And that's it. I've only played this lot once, but the Witch Doctor showed up and gifted a voodoo doll once my sim finished repairs :)

How to Turn a Secret Hobby Lot into a Regular Community Lot

I figured I’d share my ““discovery”” on this, because I couldn’t find anywhere that explained it when I was trying to turn my Hobbies hood makeovers into non-secret normal community lots.

It’s not as simple as just ChangeLotZoning, because although that does functionally make it a regular community lot, there’s something else going on in the code associated with hobby lots.

A hobby lot turned into a community lot will randomly assign the role of Iconic Hobbyist to literally the first townie that spawns. They still interact with sims/objects normally, but that townie will never leave the lot.

At most maybe it’s just a minor annoyance, but the change to normal community lot felt incomplete for me until I figured out how to make that stop happening. Which took trial & error plus a bunch of guessing on my part lol but somehow it worked out in the end :P

What we’ll be doing requires editing the lot’s LTXT file in SimPE.

You need the lot already placed in a neighborhood to access its LTXT, but that’s probably already the case if you’re working with the Hobbies lots.

SimPE only shows hoods that are directly in the My Documents > The Sims 2 > Neighborhoods folder, so just put a copy of the hood that has the hobby lot you want to edit into that folder. It doesn’t matter if it’s a subhood or not for our purposes because it’ll show up under Neighborhood Browser either way.

Click Tools > Neighborhood Browser then choose the hood the hobby lot you want to edit is in.

Click Lot Description (LTXT) on the Resource Tree, then under Resource List click the name of the hobby lot you want to change into a normal community lot.

First, we’ll do the actual lot rezoning.

This can be done in-game with the ChangeLotZoning cheat, but we might as well do it now since we’re already here :P

Click the Lot Type dropdown and choose Community.

Then change the U0 number to “0x00000023”.

idk much else about it, but that’s the code for regular community lots.

Some community lots have different U0 numbers, and the game seems to change the numbers under U0-5 itself when it’s loaded.

The game probably knows better than us what the numbers should be lol so after these initial changes if you check it again later and the numbers are different it’s fine.

Okay so for the actual part that makes the random townie stop endlessly wandering the community lot as a fake Iconic Hobbyist, this is kind of just a “Dude trust me” thing lol because I honestly have no idea what this means or why it works, but it does.

The numbers under U3, U4, and U5 are from what I can tell some type of code that tells the lot how to behave, or how sims should behave on the lot.

An example of how this differs between lots is that an unplayed residential lot will have one 0 in U3, all zeros in U4, and be completely blank in U5. Again I have no idea what this means, but it indicates that nothing should explode if these numbers are changed.

Change the numbers under U3, U4, and U5 to be all zeroes like this:

U3: 0 | U4: 0x00000000 | U5: 00 00 00 00  00 00 00 00  00

After that, click Commit then Save the changes.

Aaaaand that’s it! The lot should now be a normal community lot without any weird townies pretending to be an Iconic Hobbyist.

Yes, I made a version with the SSN_EMPTY version and it seemed to work fine in brief testing. I have messaged PlyPlay about sharing it, but did not hear back. It is relatively easy though. Use HoodReplace to put my lots, terrain, and deco into PlyPlay's hood, then move all the lot files from my hood's Lots folder into PlyPlay's. Finally, extract the LTXTs from mine and import them into it (you only have to do this, actually, with the lots where I used LotAdjuster, but easy to just do them all at once). So, basically, you are keeping PlyPlay's hood, but replacing all the non-sim bits with mine.

Hi! there’s a cheat terrainType [Desert/Temperate/Dirt/Concrete], but you’ll have to then open the neighborhood in SimPE and go through each LTXT and change the texture to lottexture-canvas-dirt, or else it won’t appear correctly in-lot. Alternatively, move every lot to the lot bin and place them back, but if any of them are occupied/owned community lots you should really just edit those lots in SimPE instead.

okay aside from the weirdness of townies already doing stuff on the lot when it loads in, I think I did actually fix the fake Iconic Hobbyist thing when turning the secret hobby lots into normal community lots

I’d been editing the LTXT files in SimPE to change the lot zoning, but it wasn’t until I edited the numbers/letters in Instances U3, U4, and U5 to be entirely 0′s that the sims started acting different - which I still don’t know how that works, but as long as it works I guess lol
