What if Louis sings the acoustic version of Face the Music on tour, sitting on a stool, playing the guitar, while bathed in blue and green lights, what then?
Andrew Cushin said that he was struggling with a flu and throat infection in Copenhagen (tweet), so there might be some sickness in the touring party. Hopefully Louis doesn't have the exact same thing and he might just be saving his voice by missing one or two songs.
I'd love you to be right, but his voice sounded strained yesterday and I already thought he might be sick, and I feel like needing to skip the big vocal songs tonight kind of confirms but anyway I hope they all take good care of themselves and get through with minimal issues- if that is what's going on smart of him to bring Chicago back to fill the gaps though
“My time in the band didn't make me forget who I am as an artist. You just adjust respectfully and see what's right for the band at the moment. However, I did my musical development phase in the band and not alone. I had to make up for that now as a solo artist”
I sense an acknowledgement from Louis that while being in the band as he was always thinking in the context of the band and wasn’t actively preparing for a future solo career, it took him longer to find his feet than the people who were already putting away songs for when they would go solo.
I think that Liam may still be in this phase. I think Niall by working with the same creative team as 1D and not being radically different in sound to 1D may have played it smart and got a leg up.
Louis’ quote is from the Low Key interview.
I feel like coming out of the band, Liam was trying to chase numbers (and so did Louis, to an extent), but never settled with a core team to direct him, the way Niall and Harry did.
Louis’ team was— like Larries now— playing for two teams, and the primary focus wasn’t exactly on Louis. Most of his team came from Syco or was Syco-affiliated (and this still persisted in Lou Teasdale, Jessie Martin, Ann-Marie Thomson, Simon Jones, Eleanor Calder, Chris Frewin). They were thinking of Syco spin-off projects for Louis, and used what they could hold onto from 1D (Louis Tomlinson) to promote Syco. The Sony subsidiary labels like Epic and Arista were not taking their cues from Simon Cowell but from Rob Stringer, as Syco was majority owned, and eventually dissolved, by Sony.
When Louis said, “I had to make up for that now as a solo artist,” his words obscure the fact that he was trying to find his feet as a solo artist in a professional environment where his own label did not want him to be a solo artist. They wanted him to promote other Syco/ Sony artists, like James Arthur, and Syco projects, like America’s Got Talent and X Factor UK. They made him feel as though his music was inadequate, and delayed the release of music and tour. Louis saying he was responsible for cancelling his first album doesn’t erase his 2017 interviews where he said the album was 85% done, and LTTOUR 2018 was advertised on the BTY teaser, with cities already on the schedule— a fact that Marco Morini attested to in May 2018.
Zayn did eventually release solo songs that he had written during 1D on Mind of Mine.
Most of the songs that Harry wrote during 1D were shelved (Two Ghosts being the HS1 exception). After Harry signed his FSM contract on the infamous yacht, Irving Azoff arranged a songwriting team for him, including Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson who continue to co-write songs with him.
Niall was strategic to stick to the genre of soft pop rock that worked in 1D. Without the burden of Larry Stylinson, Niall was less of a threat to solo Harry Styles and allowed to fly under the radar.
#and he got quite sarcastic at the end with the whole ‘anyone else going to throw food?’ and ‘is this the modern day version of a rotten egg?

louis talking about the first time he went skiing (when famous) and all you could see were his eyes and people still asked for photos…
then jojo was like “head to toe you were covered, how did they know” and louis is just like “I suppose it’s who I’m with, who I’m with”………
hello ralph, hope you’re doing well. now that lttour is over and as we move towards the end of the year and also gearing up for fitf release, i was wondering if you’ve got any new thoughts on this (freddie, louis’ fatherhood etc) in relation to how this year has been for louis and how his new album promo has gone like so far?
So I've had a very full on week and I'm super far behind - there's lots I haven't read or watched, so I'm not at all qualified to comment on the details. Am I right in understanding that what is happening and what people are responding to is that Louis is occasionally mentioning Freddie in interviews?
Because if so - that seems fully compatible even expected, with everything I outlined in that post. I do think it's wise for Louis' fans to accept that he's going to regularly perform being a father, whatever they believe about reality.
