thinking about frankenstein's monster again, not anything in particular just kinda brain rotating him like he's the well liked side character of a bad shonen anime

Dorian made a face at her description, though he certainly couldn't fault her for it-she was right, every step of the planning process was just another stone in the path leading her to being shackled to that monster for the rest of her days...
It honestly made him shudder, imagining this woman, whom he happily considered a dear friend, this bright, vivacious, kind, free-spirited woman, doomed to a life being married to Pennyworth, having to bear him heirs (who would no doubt grow up to be horrid little brats like their father), forever chained to him, unable to escape...
...it was enough to make his blood boil, but he at least took solace in the fact that they were changing that.
In an effort to turn the conversation towards something happier and lighter, he asked her in genuine interest, "What do you see, in yours and Randall's futures, I mean. Would you like to work at his haberdashery with him, would you like to have children together, would you like to travel and see more of the country...anything of that sort, or...something else entirely?"
#((hey; a fellow li'l meatie!! yeah; james really does seem like a genuinely nice; stand-up guy))#((and i not only respect the video he did where he and chelsea made it clear where they stood))#((when it came to the strike; but also making it clear that he won't cover the works))#((of directors like victor salva or roman polanski because of the crimes they've committed))#((and i really respect that! i know what polanski did and i DEFIDENTLY know what salva did))#((and i've refused to watch 'jeepers creepers' as a result; so i respect james's stance))#((and same! his show really is like spark notes for horror movies; because of dead meat))#((i've both gotten to learn more about film series i generally don't want to watch))#((such as the 'saw' franchise; which he makes REALLY funny with his jokes and commentary))#((but the channel also introduced me to a bunch of series that i went on to actually watch in full))#((when i may not have otherwise! i love the running gags; the jokes; and all the rich trivia))#((that he brings to the table; showing how it was all done! it's probably my favorite youtube channel))#((next to dark corners reviews; which involves its host robin bailes covering bad movies in mondays))#((poking fun at them and breaking down what doesn't work; as well as doing streaming reviews on friday))#((covering usually much better movies and giving his personal thoughts on them))#((with some specials about classic films; actors; and directors; i highly recommend his channel))#((as well as 'the horror geek'; who covers a variety of usually terrible splashy horror films))#((with TONS of hilarious running gags and potshots! i highly recommend those))#((if you're ever looking for more fun horror channels to follow!))#outofhatboxes#beatingheart-bride#V:Days of Future Past

Hello!! Would you be able to write a request for finnick? Just like he’s the capitols darling, reader is the capitals hound dog. Known to be fiercely protective and exceptionally violent and brutal. During the third quarter quell, katniss’ group is afraid of reader because they haven’t seen her all match, but they run into her and she defends them brutally against something? Sorry I know it’s specific:) love your writing!

finnick odair x reader
synopsis: his focus was protecting katniss, but he sleeps with an eye open as long as you’re still out there..
a/n: i made some changes, jus go with it lmao
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“she’s still out there, katniss.” finnick had made this pointedly to katniss, who wanted to go out hunting for the remaining victors with johanna. you were shrouded in mystery, out of all the victors, finnick knew the least about you.
“where would she be?” peeta looked at finnick, who sighed, shrugging, “the arena is different than the arena she won in, i assume somewhere low to the ground-“ finnick sweeped the beach, eye catching on a rustle in the bush, straight across from them, “and close.” he remembered now how you had won your games.
you had tracked all the tributes like prey, manipulating their surroundings to kill them, it had been one of the most invigorating games for the capitol ever. “she’s a bloodhound, probably sniffed us out before we realized.”
johanna watched the area that finnick had saw you, but still offered her commentary, “she’s brutal, katniss.”
katniss looked at them all, surrounded by skilled people yet found herself doubting their abilities, especially her own. none of them were sure they’d win, not against her.
“the careers are the least of our worries with her out there.” peeta noted. finnick looked at him and shrugged, “she might just kill them herself.”
they knew getting back on the island was a bad idea. katniss ducked at the sound of a mysterious voice, feeling as something flew past her head, stabbing cashmere right in the chest.
“get up.” katniss looked up to see you, standing over her. you had an array of weapons on you, and you were reaching for another one. katniss felt the panic in her throat until you launched it at enobaria, who had thrown herself at katniss. “get up!” your voice sounded more frantic and katniss did, struggling from keeping her eyes off of you.
suddenly the island began to spin.
your grip was loosening, and you groaned with slight fear as you felt the cold water thundering against your feet. katniss reached out for you, “grab my hand!” she screamed, but the water trashing drowned her out.
you could see her hand amidst all the water and grabbed it tightly, closing your eyes as the island slowed to a stop.
you sat on the beach, alone as the others argued over you. katniss had defended you, deciding she wanted you as an ally. but finnick and johanna deemed it too risky, “she could kill us all in our sleep, then what?” johanna had made that point as one of your methods, and you inhaled sharply.
finnick glanced at you, noticing the solemn expression on your face. he had known that expression far too many times, and it made him change his mind.
“johanna.” finnick called her name and sighed, “she saved her life. that’s not something we can just ignore, we don’t even know her.”
there was silence between them all, katniss had looked to johanna, watching as she fought internally before giving in. “i’ll go get her, maybe threaten a little.” she stood up, taking her axe with her.
finnick looked to katniss as johanna left, “i’ll keep an eye on her. for you.” he knew that once katniss settled on allies, she settled. her choices weren’t always the best, but somehow it would work itself out.
“why did you save her?” finnick had taken the first watch with you. johanna had convinced him, as just having you as watch would be ‘asking for it’.
you shrugged, “why not.” there hadn’t been much decision making on the island. it was either her or cashmere, and you didn’t see much of a choice.
finnick looked at you, “i don’t believe that.” his eyes slid themselves back to stare at the beach and you scoffed, “and why is that?”
finnick shrugged, “no one would just randomly save someone without an ulterior motive.” he said it like a fact and you smirked, “do you have one?”
“have one what?” he looked confused, obvious by the furrow in his brow.
“do you have an ulterior motive?” you repeated the full length question and watched as finnick practically whipped his head around.
“no.” he stated plainly, and you rolled your eyes, “i saw you saved katniss, similiar to how i did. you and johanna can’t just be doing this,” you glanced back to katniss and peeta sleeping, “for nothing. whatever it is, finnick, is an ulterior motive.” finnick pursed his lips, almost as if he couldn’t believe it.
“i’ll let you have yours if you let me have mine.” you finished, catching his gaze. finnick knew there were layers to you. you were different than most victors, your brutality is what made you like the rest of them, the willingness to kill. but you were turning out to be way more than what meets the eye. whatever your motive was, finnick sensed it wasn’t malice.
finnick settled to watch the sun rise upon your face, ending the conversation with a nod.
finnick watched as you sat by the beach. it had been post jabberjays, you, him and katniss had all been trapped with the birds, fluttering and screaming your names. now it seemed, like you had decided to decompress by the beach, just as he was going to.
he piled up next to you, close but far enough to give you a good amount of space.
it was then that finnick realized you had been crying, tears evident on your cheeks. he had heard katniss yell her sister’s name, and he had heard annie. you had just screamed in response, as if you were trying to drown out the birds with your own voice.
“i’m sorry.” you apologized to finnick, wiping your eyes as he settled down. you sniffled, watching as the waves moved.
“don’t apologize, there’s no need.” finnick spoke, “who did you hear?”
there was silence for a moment, until you spoke, “my best friend.” your mind shuddered back the sound of his screams and you laughed, painfully. “he’s been dead for years. i killed him.” you admitted, “he died because of a mistake i had made during the games.”
your mind flashed back to the games, where you had accidentally launched a knife to his chest, thinking it had been another tribute.
“he had spent all of his games searching for me. and once he found me, i had killed him.” it was cruel for him to be your district partner, for only one would survive, but you “never thought it would be me.” you glanced at finnick, who had been listening.
“it was supposed to be him.” you cried, “i killed everyone else to get to him, and when it was down to four, was when he came to get me.” you shook your head, “there is nothing in this world that i loved more than him, finnick. now that he’s gone, there’s nothing left for me.”
finnick shook his head, “stop. you know that’s not true.” he tried to comfort you, your words mirroring his own thoughts.
“that’s my motive, finnick.” you revealed, “my body is a cage, and i can’t stand to live in it much longer.”
johanna had woken up abruptly. she clutched onto her weapon, eyes glancing around before she settled on the two figures on the beach. she squinted and made out finnick’s hair, and you. the only two missing from the group. you had your head leaned on finnick’s shoulder, as the two of you watched the rising sun.

Are all the themes in “in other lands” supposed to be a commentary on something? Or do you just like writing sex scenes between minors, age gaps, and reverse misogyny?
Genuine question.
Ohhh, my dear anon, I don't believe this is a genuine question.
But it does bring up something I've been meaning to talk about. So I'll take the bait.
Firstly. Yes, my work contains a commentary on the world around us. I wonder what I could be doing with the child soldiers being sexually active in their teens (people hook up right after battles), and the age gap relationship ending in the younger one being too mature for the elder. What could I possibly have been attempting when I said 'how absurd gender roles are, when projected onto people we haven't been accustomed by our own society to see that way'? I wasn't being subtle, that's for sure.
Secondly. Yes I do enjoy writing! I think I should, it's my life's work. Am I titillated by my own writing, no - though I think it's fine to be. The sex scenes of In Other Lands aren't especially titillating, to be honest. It is interesting to me how often people sneer at women for writing romance and sex scenes, having 'book boyfriends,' insinuating women writers fancy their own characters. Women having too much immoral fun! Whereas men clearly write about sex for high literary purposes.
… I have to say from my experience of women and men's writing, I haven't found that to be true.
I’m not in this to have an internet argument. I prefer to leave my anons open since not everyone has a tumblr, as @neil-gaiman says it’s an internet backwater, but a lovely one for those like myself who enjoy an essay about fictional characters! Still I will close my inbox to anons if I must. Mostly people use bad faith takes to poke at others from the other side of a screen for kicks. But I do know some truly internalise the attitude that writing certain things is wrong, that anyone who makes mistakes must be shunned as impure, and that is a deeply Victorian and restrictive attitude that guarantees unhappiness.
I've become increasingly troubled by the very binary and extreme ways of thinking I see arising on the internet. They come naturally from people being in echo chambers, becoming hostile to differing opinions, and the age-old conundrum of wanting to be good, fearing you aren't, and making the futile effort to be free of sin. It makes me think of Tennyson, who when travelling through Ireland at the time of the Great Famine, said nobody should talk about the 'Irish distress' to him and insisted the window shades of his carriage be shut as he went from castle to castle. So he wouldn't see the bodies. But that didn't make the bodies cease to be.
In Les Mis, Victor Hugo explores why someone might steal, what that means about them and their circumstances, and who they might be - and explores why someone else is made terribly unhappy, and endangers others, through their own too rigid adherence to judgement and condemnation without pity. The story understands both Jean Valjean the thief and Javert the policeman. Javert’s way of thinking is the one that inevitably leads to tragedy.
Depiction isn't endorsement. Depiction is discussion.
Many of my loved ones have had widely varying relationships to and experience of sex (including 'none'). They've felt all different types of ways about it. If writing about them is not permissible, I close them out. I'd much rather a dialogue be open than closed.
I do understand the urge to write what seems right to others. I've been brain-poisoned that way myself. I used to worry so much about my female characters doing the wrong things, because then they'd be justly hated! Then I noted which of my writer friends had people love their female characters the most - and it was the one who wrote their female characters as screwing up massively, making rash and sometimes wrong decisions. Who wrote them as people. Because that's what people do. That's what feels true to readers.
I want my characters to feel true to readers. I want my characters to react in messy ways to imperfect situations. I love fantasy, I love wild action and I love deep thought, and I want to engage. That's what In Other Lands is about. That's even more what Long Live Evil is about. That sexy lady who sashays in to have sexy sex with the hero - what is her deal? Someone who tricks and lies to others - why are they doing that, how did they get so skilled at it? What makes one person cruelly judgemental, and another ignore all boundaries? What makes Carmen Maria Machado describe ‘fictional queer villains’ as ‘by far the most interesting characters’? What irritates people about women having a great time? What attracts us to power, to fiction, and to transgression?
I don’t know the answers to all those questions, but I know I want to explore them. And I know one more thing.
If the moral thing to do is shut people out and shut people up? Count me among the villains.

One of my favorite Discworld books is actually one of the more obscure ones, "Moving Pictures", which is about the invention of films and the movie business in this fantasy world that has dwarves and trolls and wizards and so on. It has its rough patches like every early Discworld book, but Ginger's speech about people who were born in the wrong time or wrong place for their dreams really gets to me in a good way, and I love all of the references to classic films and commentary on fame and creativity. It also has classic characters like Gaspode the Talking Dog and C.M.O.T. Dibbler, and it introduces Detritus's romance with another troll named Ruby.
Perhaps most importantly to me is that this book introduces Ponder Stibbons, who is a wizard, and who goes on in later books to be one of the most important members of the Unseen University (he holds like twelve different positions), in that he's one of the few people who can competently manage a project and so ends up managing nearly everything. (Bear with me, it's been a while since I read any Discworld and my memory is a little rough.) In "Moving Pictures", Ponder is the classmate (roommate?) of a fellow named Victor Tugelbend, who is one of the main characters.
Victor begins the book as a career student, in that a wealthy relative left him a great deal of money exclusively for school; so as long as he STAYS in school, all of his living expenses are paid for. If Victor graduates, that's the end of the money. If Victor drops out, that's the end of the money. But if Victor manages to hit a specific mark range in the 80s every year, then he gets to stay on for another year and try again, and so Victor is perhaps the most dedicated and knowledgeable wizardry student in the university's history, because you have to know what the right answer is in order to intentionally get a certain number of the questions wrong, so that you can continue to coast along on your college fund.
Ponder's graduation is (accidentally) Victor's fault, because Victor runs away to get into the movie business. (I won't spoil what happens, but it's VERY funny.) Now, I like to imagine after the events of the book, after Ponder holds a faculty position in the university, Victor comes BACK to the university occasionally as a disgustingly well-paid external consultant, which drives Ponder UP THE FUCKING WALL. Like, people are so stingy all of the time but SOMEHOW the university budget has room to bring your offensively handsome dropout roommate back just to say, "Hmm, yes, that looks bad. Have you tried turning it off and on again?" I'd throw a fit, honestly. (As soon as Ponder has enough seniority, he probably puts his foot down to stop this if Victor isn't actually useful. Maybe he is, idk, but maybe not for THAT consulting fee.)
I also like to imagine that Victor Tugelbend and Theda "Ginger" Withel are still together, maybe even still acting (badly? mediocre-ly? decently?) together, in some dingy little theatre (Ginger is the director and runs their acting troupe like a tyrant) where the front seats are regularly filled with middle-aged folks who still sigh over the memories of moving pictures. (Moving pictures are now, presumably, VERY illegal in Ankh Morpork.) Victor and Ginger have only because even more attractive as they've gotten older, which is EVEN MORE OFFENSIVE to poor Ponder because his former movie star former roommate is married to another gorgeous former movie star?! I'd throw another fit.
Anyway, I think Ponder deserves to have an affair with a pair of aging former movie stars. I like to imagine this purely because I think it's funny. He seems kind of busy for marriage, so joining someone else's marriage part-time might be good for him. It probably makes most of the rest of the Unseen University faculty breathlessly envious and that really does it for him.
And I think that this affair would OF COURSE be covered by every newspaper and tabloid in the city, including The Times, and William de Worde and Sacharissa Cripslock don't fully understand why their entertainment reporter is so breathlessly excited about people who were famous over a decade ago? (Supermarket tabloids love to tell me about alleged affairs of people who were famous 20+ years ago.) The article on Victor Maraschino and Delores De Syn's failing marriage* is their bestselling newspaper in months and William puts his head down on his desk in despair. (He's fine. This happens on a weekly at least basis. He just needs a minute.)
*Victor and Ginger are very happy with this situation, actually. They're going to take Ponder to dinner to go on a double date with Ruby and Detritus soon. Victor and Ponder are going to get distracted arguing about some of the Inadvisably Applied Magic research projects, but that's fine, because Ginger wants to talk to Ruby about this one-troll-woman-show concept. (Detritus will proudly hand out tickets at the Watch station and accidentally intimidate all of his coworkers into accepting the invitation.)

Billy Batson the homeless kid from Fawcett City first, and Captain Marvel second (my take)
Unpopular, and probably a bad take but as someone who read Alex Dogboy as a child and wants to re-read it asap, I like the interpretations of Captain Marvel in which Billy Batson is homeless for a good while before falling back into care. I even got a whole image in my head for why he doesn’t want to return to cps and try to get a foster family.
Let’s say his parents die, and it’s a horrible trauma and Billy is NOT okay, he’s 13 when it happens and then jumps from home to home for a while, his experiences being mediocre until he gets ONE parent that tries doing something unspeakable to him (insert social commentary on how unsafe the foster system is) and he runs away. From that point on, he lives on the streets.
And he has it BAD.
I’m not a fan of angst, and suffering of characters, especially young doesn’t bring me any kind of joy but I like seeing a character survive. Fight against the cruel environment they live in, against horrible odds, and celebrate small victoires like there is no tomorrow. Holding onto those victories to not loose yourself.
A successful shoplifting mission, something useful found while dumpster diving, nimbly avoiding criminal gangs, both big and small on his way "home" (which is an abandoned building apartment in a bad part of town).
I don’t want Billy to have it bad per ce, but I want the comics to really EXPLORE how difficult it gets, living in the streets as a child that needs love and care, but has to stay vigilant because in this world, any adult could hurt you. I want an entire comics issue just about Billy surviving in that world, getting by day by as autumn slowly changes to winter and it gets progressively colder. I want the comics to delve into his struggles before he get a a power that will make his life easier, because it’ll amplify the magic of seeing him get powers of the gods.
I want to see him be crude and swear like he so often does in the modern versions of the character, and then deliberately steal food to feed cats. He might see a flower shop owner getting harassed while she’s bringing her newly arrived plants inside and then walk behind the guy who bugs her to punch him square in the jaw. He’s not perfect, he has put up walls to protect himself, but it’s these instinctive acts of kindness (though rough around the edges) make the wizard choose him. He’s desperate and Billy is, again, NOT perfect, but he has potential, and it’s all that matters.
I want to see all of what I’ve written above play a big role and impact Captain Marvel’s every decision as a hero. Not just his childhood naivety and teenage brashness, but his trauma and bad experiences. I want to see him interact with the league in line with his background.
And I want him to fall in love with Rosa. I want to see him warm up to the idea of having a parent again, of having a family once more. I want her to be a small business owner, maybe if that’s that same flower shop and maybe it’s not going very well but she’s happy and she has her foster kids, until one day she gets harassed by a creepy stranger in front of her shop and a boy from the streets delivers him a clean left hook for it.
They see each other around, Billy is clearly homeless, and she buys him takeout. After that, he, akin to a cat, slowly eases into a friendship with her and eventually falls into this inner crisis because he’s afraid of loosing a parent again and adults have hurt him before, he’s scared but Rosa’s smile is so genuine and he feels so incredibly safe around her he just can’t resist showing up at her shop, eventually helping her out and then getting a part-time job there, which helps him get bare necessities without stealing.
I want Billy to choose to make that terrifying leap because he trusts that Rosa will catch him, and then he can have the new plot with being introduced into her family, his new siblings and dad (Victor).
Adventures of Captain Marvel, all the insane stuff he can do is absolutely cool and I totally want to read that, but I’m just saying that his adventures would feel so much more magical and amazing if the writers leaned into the darker aspects of his story more often.
That’s just my take tho idk, might delete later 🤷
(Anyway if you got any questions — feel free to drop them in my as box✨)

Welcome to Manuscript Monday!
In this series we will periodically focus on selections from our manuscript facsimile collection. Today we present selections from the Morgan Beatus Manuscript, reproduced as A Spanish Apocalypse, The Morgan Beatus Manuscript in New York by George Braziller, Inc. in association with the Pierpont Morgan Library in 1991. The original manuscript, made around 10th century CE at the scriptorium of San Miguel de Escalada in Spain by a monk named Maius, is the earliest surviving illuminated version of the monk Beatus of Liébana's commentary on the biblical Book of Apocalypse (also known as the Book of Revelation).  The text of the Book of Revelation makes up the first part of the manuscript, and Beatus’s commentary comprises the second part. The Book of Revelation tells of the end-times in Christianity, during the final judgement of humanity by God. The story within this Biblical book was also seen by those living during the Latin medieval era as representative of the beginning of something new: God’s celestial kingdom. Due to this view of the book, many artists incorporated imagery from this part of the Bible in their work.
Produced in Al-Andalus, or Muslim-ruled Spain, the artistic style of this work combines both Muslim and Christian visual traditions to create a beautifully illuminated manuscript that supplements the commentary by the monk. This artistic style is known as the Mozarabic, which comes from the Arabic mustaʿrib, meaning ‘Arabicized’. Interestingly, this style of art can only be seen in Christian religious art and architecture from Spain at the time, as non-religious artistic objects made by Christians look so similar to Islamic versions of the same works that they cannot be identified as intentionally Christian. Some key Islamic artistic elements within the manuscript include buildings with horseshoe arches, intricate geometric and vegetal patterns as borders for larger images, and the large, bulging eyes of the illustrated animals.
Tumblr media
Another interesting aspect of this specific manuscript is the colophon at the end of the manuscript. It tells readers about the circumstances surrounding the creation of this book, including the maker, the patron, the year it was made, and an explanation about why Maius created the manuscript ("I write this . . . at the command of Abbot Victor, out of love for the book of the vision of John the beloved disciple. As part of its adornment I have painted a series of pictures . . . so that the wise may fear the coming of the future judgement of the world's end."). Colophons in medieval manuscripts are not usually as detailed, so the inclusion of all this information contributes greatly to the knowledge and history surrounding the Morgan Beatus Manuscript.

okay so- I saw your work about Billy with Wonder woman's adopted daughter reader and it gave me a random idea. Billy trying to hide his crush on her pre-relationship but his siblings ofc noticing and making passing comments about it. Reader doesn't notice but Diana does- And she's just like 👀. Please feel free to change anything tho!
Tumblr media
I’ve left this on the back burner for too long but here it is. 🦦
Having a crush on Wonder Woman’s daughter wasn’t on Billy’s bingo card but here he was; pining over the most beautiful, gorgeous, sweet person to ever walk into his life.
As cliche as it sounds but Billy knew someone like you would got for someone like him, rough on the edges that were sharp enough to chase away any curious onlooker. Yet despite the supposed red flags that he believed he possessed, that didn’t stop him from inviting you over to his and Freddy’s table during lunch and asking you about how your architecture, history and art clubs -that he oddly remembered you taking- were going and listen to every word that bypassed your sweet lips.
Freddy, at first, thought Billy was just being nice but when it started happening more frequently and how it only seemed to be you whom Billy would go out of his way to do this for, he quickly caught onto what was going on in front of him, mentally condemning himself for not catching on a lot earlier with how many tricks Billy would use in order to keep you within proximity and talking; completely oblivious to his heart eyes from how involved with the subject matter you were.
Freddy was the first out of the family to notice of his brother’s crush on you and so whenever you were out of earshot, he would take every opportunity to torture him via a shit eating grin and passing commentary on your beauty.
‘She’s cute’ - Freddy
‘Yeah, she sure is.’ - Billy, who had yet to take his eyes off of you.
‘So you admit to thinking that she’s pretty?’ - Freddy, brown raised as a smile tugged at his lips.
‘She’s more then just pretty,’ Billy started, absentmindedly, ‘she’s smart, wickedly smart.’
‘Aww has Billy boy got his first crush?’ - Freddy teased, resting his hands underneath his chin, knowingly.
‘Yea-wait, no I don’t!’ Billy exclaimed but once he realised that he had said that a little too loudly he looked at Freddy as he snickered and hissed, ‘I don’t. Just because I complement them on their smarts don’t mean I got a crush.’
‘Sure it doesn’t.’ Freddy replied before getting serious, ‘look, it’s normal to have a crush, it’s nothing to be ashamed of, everyone gets them and you shouldn’t ostracise yourself from experiencing one just because you don’t think you’re deserving of one. Y/n is a lovely girl and I’m certain she’d be ecstatic to go out with someone like you.’
Mary, Eugene, Pedro and Darla were also quick on the uptake of their brothers infatuation with you and were even quicker on joining in with the passive comments whenever you were invited to theirs for a study session or just to hang out. Hell even Victor and Rosa saw through Billy’s excuses and found it adorable that their son was slowly warming up to the idea of bearing his heart to someone outside of his family; so much so that they tease him by calling you their potential daughter in law and being the mrs Batson to Billy’s Mr Batson.
Darla makes it worse by asking when Billy was going to ask you out and if you’ll become her sister in the distant future while he was drinking on water, which inevitably made him choke on it mid sip.
Poor Billy was flustered with the brightest shade of red streaking across his cheeks and to the tips of his ears. Yet the sight was so amusing to his family that they only made it worse by teasing him even further to the point he had to vacant back to his room. Which wasn’t any better considering he shared it with Freddy, who made it his mission to further tease the poor lad.
Whilst this was all going off, you on the other hand were none the wiser to Billy’s interest in your nor his families lighthearted comments regarding it but your mother sure did and it made her both happy as it did make her protective of her daughter. She was once in love, so much so she would sometimes swore that her love had pushed him into deaths awaiting arms, which she had long since learnt to accept wasn’t the truth and that some humans were just like that sometimes; Brave and courageous even in the most hopeless of circumstances.
However she knew she couldn’t protect you from everything forever and whenever you’d come home and tell her about Billy, a smile would cross her face as she would instantly pickup parts of the re-tellings that only highlighted her suspicion of Billy’s crush on you and seeing how happy he made you by even performing the smallest of things that he did for you, even if it was just listening to the latest happenings of your after school clubs. Diana knew that your’s and Billy’s fates were intertwined in more ways then one.
‘Billy sat at my table today.’ You told your mother.
‘Oh did he now? Didn’t you say he usually sits with his brother?’ Diana asked, a little curious at the sudden change of routine.
‘Oh he said that Freddy was busy elsewhere and that he wanted to sit with me today.’ You explained, not having picked up the cues as well as your mother did as her stance immediately changed to that of a protector.
‘Oh? Was the cafeteria full?’ Diana inquired, already having an idea of what your answer would be.
You made a face of thought, ‘yeah…there were a few free tables but I guess that by sitting with me means that we’re friends,’ you looked to your mother, ‘right?’
‘I guess that’s one way of putting it into prospective,’ she replied, squeezing your shoulder, ‘I’m glad you’ve got a new friend my dear daughter.’ She adds before pressing a kiss to your forehead. Oh yeah, Billy better be careful for who he fallen for because now he has to watch out for your mother hounding his arse of his intentions with you.
Which she does whenever she catches sight of his powered up adult form nearby.
‘My child is not one you should trifle with should your intentions stray towards a dark path Billy Batson,’ your mother warned him, ‘and neither am I. So your heart best be pure for my daughter, so I make myself clear.’
Billy wasn’t quite sure whether he should fangirl over the fact that he was meeting Wonder Woman or piss himself because she was threatening him over you. Either way it only made you all the more worth it in Billy’s eyes.
…I wonder how Jon and Damian would feel if they caught wind of his little crush too?

These two characters are usually not in the same conversation because they are pretty isolated from each other’s stories, but I talked to one of my Dany mutuals about this and there is one thing in particular that I desperately want to see happen down the line. The duality of fire is such an integral part of this series: its function as a representation of passion, emancipation, and light along with destruction, corruption and death. I think it is supposed to speak to the multifaceted nature of power in general. Jaime’s relationship with fire (wildfire in specific, the most corrupted version of it) is pretty singular, especially among PoVs, because of his trauma. He associates it with Aerys, and then later Cersei. To him, it means destruction, corruption, and death. It represents the epitome of the abuse of power. So what I would find very poignant is the redefinition of it for him in particular during The Long Night.
I am very convinced Jaime will be present: George spending time on him training again as a competent fighter feels like something with a function beyond a LSH confrontation, the whole Oathkeeper and Widow’s Wail thing for JB, and trauma being packaged deliberately with TLN imagery: “In his dreams the dead came burning, gowned in swirling green flames. Jaime danced around them with a golden sword, but for every one he struck down two more arose to take his place.” Then the prophetic weirwood dream in general: “The shades dismounted from their ghostly horses. When they drew their longswords, it made not a sound. ” “They were armored all in snow, it seemed to him, and ribbons of mist swirled back from their shoulders. ”
His trauma is so focused on the fact that Dany’s father used something of such great power for something so deeply evil and destructive: “Jaime saw green flames reaching up into the sky higher than the tallest towers, as burning men screamed in the streets. I have dreamed this dream before.” For us to see the daughter of that man use it for the exact opposite, to repel death, through his eyes at some point would be one of the best ways to communicate and really drive home that duality that permeates this series regarding fire. It is not just fire that is being redefined, but power in general: who wields it and how.
Not to mention Jaime’s relationship with Rhaegar. Deep inside of Jaime’s mind Rhaegar was the “good king that never was”, something he still clings onto despite how much he represses the idealist romantic boy he used to be:
Rhaegar had put his hand on Jaime's shoulder. "When this battle's done I mean to call a council. Changes will be made. I meant to do it long ago, but . . . well, it does no good to speak of roads not taken. We shall talk when I return." Those were the last words Rhaegar Targaryen ever spoke to him.
On the morning after the battle, the crows had feasted on victors and vanquished alike, as once they had feasted on Rhaegar Targaryen after the Trident. How much can a crown be worth, when a crow can dine upon a king?
He rues Robert, and aspects of Barristan’s character’s commentary of who you represent and choose to serve are more subtly present in his story too.
Jaime snorted. "It's not Aerys I rue, it's Robert. 'I hear they've named you Kingslayer,' he said to me at his coronation feast. 'Just don't think to make it a habit.' And he laughed. Why is it that no one names Robert oathbreaker? He tore the realm apart, yet I am the one with shit for honor." "Robert did all he did for love." […] “Robert did all he did for pride, a cunt, and a pretty face." He made a fist . . . or would have, if he'd had a hand. Pain lanced up his arm, cruel as laughter. "He rode to save the realm," she insisted. To save the realm. "Did you know that my brother set the Blackwater Rush afire? Wildfire will burn on water. Aerys would have bathed in it if he'd dared. The Targaryens were all mad for fire."
And because he deserved to die. "I have made kings and unmade them. Sansa Stark is my last chance for honor."
Dany is destined to succeed in the places that Rhaegar was doomed to fail, they have a plethora of parallels, so her reawakening that hope in Jaime in some form too would be something I would love to see actually.
Jaime is one of the characters that does have a very emphasized relationship with Rhaegar and his children. The guilt is very present, other than the reevaluation of his father, it might also be building to something concerning Rhaegar’s legacy: be it Jon, Dany, or even FAegon. He also has guilt regarding Dany’s mother:
And dragons, lurking down below. He remembered the sullen orange glow of the coals in the iron dragon's mouth. The brazier warmed a chamber at the bottom of a shaft where half a dozen tunnels met. On the floor he'd found a scuffed mosaic of the three-headed dragon of House Targaryen done in tiles of black and red. I know you, Kingslayer, the beast seemed to be saying. I have been here all the time, waiting for you to come to me. And it seemed to Jaime that he knew that voice, the iron tones that had once belonged to Rhaegar, Prince of Dragonstone.
"You're hurting me," they had heard Rhaella cry through the oaken door. "You're hurting me." In some queer way, that had been worse than Lord Chelsted's screaming. "We are sworn to protect her as well," Jaime had finally been driven to say. "We are," Darry allowed, "but not from him.”
Prince Rhaegar burned with a cold light, now white, now red, now dark. "I left my wife and children in your hands." "I never thought he'd hurt them." Jaime's sword was burning less brightly now. "I was with the king . . ."
For an instant, the deep red clouds that crowned the western hills reminded him of Rhaegar's children, all wrapped up in crimson cloaks.
Dany is one of the most raw representations of hope in this story, so I would love for that to be a through line with multiple PoV characters she interacts with. She is the fire in the title. Not to mention that fire is already associated with life, light against darkness, very directly in Jaime’s prophetic weirwood dream:
Brienne’s sword took flame as well, burning silvery blue. The darkness retreated a little more.
The fires that ran along the blade were guttering out, and Jaime remembered what Cersei had said.
“the flames will burn so long as you live” “when they die so must you”.

Rewind the tape —Episode 6 highlights
One of our favorite scenes is…
...paired up with our favorite quote! This is the second time Claudia and Lestat face off in a chess match, when she baits him into checkmate, securing the win but refusing him an actual finish.  The entire scene is incredible, but we particularly love how the chess game continues the thread of the first, where Claudia stated she was trying to understand Lestat. She has since concluded that, in order to beat him, she has to, “become Lestat,” “think like he does and then five moves ahead of that.”  This is a bit of backstage trivia, but showrunner Rolin Jones shared in the after-episode commentary that this scene is based off a famous chess game called The Polish Immortal.  And it’s not just the name that makes for an interesting reference! Here, Claudia is playing the long game: she’s getting rid of her good pieces while advancing the weak ones: Lestat’s too greedy to keep himself from taking her bishop and knights, and too proud to worry too much about “weak” little Claudia.  "Basically,” Rolin explains, “it's a series of moves by one opponent that sort of lures in a person who wants everything in the world, who wants to take everything, and she can see this is the way into Lestat." Later, in an interview with SyFy, Rolin added, “it's that thing where you have to make Lestat think [the party] is his idea,” just like he walks of his own volition into the trap Claudia laid for him on the board. While Lestat spends the game thinking he’s teaching her the game, Claudia speaks to Louis in the privacy of their minds, explaining how she’s going to beat him, and masterfully illustrating what she’s learnt during the match. She emerges as a sneak victor, proving to Louis she can carry her plan through.
What's a favorite scene of yours? Maybe one of the snippets we see of the years Louis and Claudia spent together on their own? Lestat returning with the Book of Hours before Louis dropped his coffin from the balcony? Louis crashing through Antoinette’s door and throwing her out of her own house? Or maybe you’re a fan of the 1970s flashback!
Reblog with your highlights, or make a new post with the tag #vampterview to join the conversation! And, if you're just getting caught up, learn all about our group rewatch here ►

HEYYY omg ur post about reader isolating herself from her friends and finnick trying to help ease her back.. :(((( TFT HE CRIES BC HE JUST WANTS HER TO GET BETTER AND HE CARES SM FOR HER… IT HURTS 💔💔
But I can’t stop wondering about how confused Beckett and Tallulah might be when the reader comes back from the games bc of all the propaganda they consumed. about how a victor should act after winning the games. they would understand at first (bc of what happened w conway), but when its like months after her games and she still isolates herself is when they get concerned. Idk what do you think? im just saying things lolll
& i can imagine after the dinner, sweet girl’s initial thoughts are “omg that went horribly” (shoutout anixety/paranoia, they’re like this🤞) but finnick reassures her, “no it didn’t, please u did great :(“
BUT PLEASE WITH THE READER BEING THE BRIDESMAID TO BECKETT AND TALLULAH’S WEDDING :((( just imagining finnick also being there and just them being so cute. He def gets emotional and its not even their wedding
Also, unrelated note: im finally seeing hadestown this week and TRUST i will be thinking abt this series during most songs LMAO
ok this was a mess and i don’t organize/articulate my thoughts well but just wanted to share😋
—🦅
HI POOKIE 💋💋💋
so yes, like they've been fed this idea that victors should be happy because they love opulent lifestyles, have their own tv segments, are so beloved and finnick has very much played into this capitol darling image. so that idea cracks when reader plays the part in public for parties and for the media, but she's completely hollow in day to day life. so they realize that it's not really what they're told, there's a much darker side to winning that hidden that they know better than to ask about or be curious about. so they learn from finnick what they can do to support her and slowly push themselves back into her life and help her open up.
she works hard the whole dinner to not put on a persona, to just be herself and it's hard for her. she's anxious, nervous and it's obvious. beckett's jokes don't land, she adds little to the gossip him and tallulah bring, some nods and sometimes she forces our small things that add to story or commentary. it's enough for them to believe there's hope and that she just needs more support. after they leave she sits at the table still, head buried in be hands.
"they hate me, I wish I was the person I was before."
he's shaking his head ferverously, taking her hands in his. "no they don't. you did so good sweet girl, so proud of you."
he absolutely gets emotional watching her in a gorgeous bridesmaids dress, walking in the precession, makes him want to give the same thing to her. especially when she's told him about the whole process and made small mentions of what she likes versus doesn't, so he's got wedding things completely down for them. although he's anxious about asking, he's nervous he'll scare her off and about her mental stability. so he holds it off and as we know he waits too long.
AAAA I'm so excited for you, have fun, I hope you enjoy it. let me know how it is and anything you thought of!
you're all good, I literally got so excited when I saw it was you, my own eagle screech happened 😭❤️

Today's translation #541
Yuri!!! on CONCERT pamphlet, On love ~ Agape~
Umebayashi Taro commentary
On Love ~Agape~
Part 4.
It's worth to listen to the orchestra version
As you know, this piece and "On Love ~Eros~" are compositions with the same melody in different arrangements. Both are based on a melody demo that I've made, and "On Love ~Eros~" was arranged by Matsushiba-kun - it ended up sounding like a completely different composition.
I don't know how to write Latin music, so I was very surprised how much he has changed the impression of this piece with his arrangement and the technique of the musicians that he cooperated with.
This time, you'll have an occasion to hear this piece performed by an orchestra, and I think it will be quite different yet again. The number of musician is different this time, so the scale of the music will be completely different compared to the CD version. I'm looking forward to hear the orchestra version, too.
[Notes: I'm going to translate the Stammi vicino/Duetto commentary next, and it got me wondering... Do you have any theories/metas why color of Victor's costume changed for the Duetto version?]

Good evening, everyone, and welcome to VNN SportsCenter! I'm your host, Waheela "Bubba" Whisperer, and tonight on Vale News Network's Fandom Friday, I'll be bringing you live coverage of the RWBY Hottest Character Poll, hosted by the lovely hadesisqueer. The initial round has drawn to a close and we've already seen some remarkable upsets, and analysts and bookmakers have begun recalculating odds and reevaluating the tournament favorites.
The initial top seed, ranked number one in both the Atlesian Press poll and BeaCon statistical rankings, Yang Xiao Long, has actually seen her odds decrease as she moves into the second round of her tournament. While she defeated her initial opponent in decisive fashion, she's actually 0-1 against the spread despite facing an opponent seeded in the middle of the pack by both human and computer polls. Still, she remains one of the tournament's top contenders, and it's not uncommon for top seeds to start off slow and then get hot (get it?) as they move into the later rounds.
Miss Xiao Long's girlfriend and fellow 1 seed, Blake Belladonna, saw her odds improve slightly as she defeated both her first opponent and the spread, though questions remain regarding how much of her victory was earned through her own performance and how much of it came from the fact that Ilia Amitola is a lesbian mess who actively encouraged voters to choose her opponent. As such, Miss Belladonna has yet to establish herself as the favorite to bring home the gold, though she'll certainly be bringing home a different type of gold(en sun dragon) regardless of the results.
The current favorite, Winter Schnee, advanced to the Round of 32 with a commanding victory over some angry twink with a mustache - specifically, the one she wasn't related to. She managed to just barely beat the spread, but the line was so damn high to begin with that natural poll variance alone made it nearly impossible to beat, especially by any decisive margin. She's still the darling of the computer polls in particular, many of which actually had her seeded over contestant Xiao Long, though she displays slightly less favorability with human pollsters than either of the other top seeds mentioned so far.
The first on our list of upsets is a matchup many pundits expected to be quite contentious - Deputy Headmistress Glynda Goodwitch vs. General James Ironwood. While Ironwood wasn't a heavy favorite, he was expected to escape the initial round and perhaps even make the Sweet Sixteen on the strength of his masculine appeal and iron wood if he managed to draw a favorable bracket. Unfortunately for the General, he landed an opponent ranked variably within the low-two and high-three seeds for his first matchup, and his virile facial hair and DILF-in-a-uniform appeal was insufficient to overcome his willingness to commit mass murder, much less the Deputy Headmistress's massive MILFpower. The bettors predicted a much closer spread, and Glynda's decisive victory has led analysts to start seriously considering the possibility that she might make a Final Four appearance so long as the whims of the bracket do not conspire to end her run early.
Another contestant who managed to elevate is Kali Belladonna, who was favored in her matchup and surprised the audience by crushing the spread, taking home over 75% of the vote against a MILF with an ass so fat it messed up the rigging of her model. When asked for comment, Mrs. Belladonna showed me a picture of her daughter as a toddler and then enthusiastically explained to me why she believed her husband should be the ultimate victor in the tournament. As her commentary is not suitable for an audience of all ages, her statement will not be broadcast.
Mr. Belladonna, on the other hand, despite his impressive victory against both the spread and fellow DILF Taiyang Xiao Long, has received rather less favorable treatment from the polls than he has from his wife, given the demographics of those voting in this contest. As a result, most analysts do not expect him to progress beyond the Sweet Sixteen, though SportsCenter has heard rumors that the bracket is being reseeded mid-tournament in order to help level the playing field for the male contestants. When SportsCenter asked host hadesisqueer to shed some light on these allegations, a representative of the Vale Sporting Commission informed us that she was not available to speak with the media at this time and refused to provide any further comment. According to our sources within the Sporting Commission, the host was last seen staring at pictures of Blake Belladonna and muttering frantically to herself in Spanish.
Duly elected Councilwoman Hill of Atlas, on the other hand, did make herself available for comment after her victory over Jacques Schnee, and used her newfound platform to loudly call her opponent "a punk-ass bitch" before disparaging General Ironwood's suitability for his job as the commander-in-chief of the Atlesian military and insisting that contestant Winter Schnee must have gotten her booty from her mother. The voters are in vocal agreement with all three statements, and Miss Hill's last assertion in particular has raised her stock with the voters enough to potentially propel her into the Elite Eight or possibly even the Final Four, though analysts still think she is unlikely to reach the finals without taking drastic measures.
Speaking of Schnees, another surprising matchup involving Miss Winter's younger sister has left some in the audience questioning the seeding process for the tournament. While Weiss Schnee was not expected to make a particularly deep run, very few anticipated her exit in the first round. Unfortunately, her first opponent was consensus 2-seed and Elite Eight contender Pyrrha Nikos. Miss Schnee acquitted herself well in this matchup, just barely failing to beat the spread against an opponent many feel is one of the best in the tournament, but I can't imagine she's happy to go out like this.
Finally, the Branwenbowl drew the highest ratings of the first round of the tournament as two top contenders slugged it out far earlier than either was expected to meet serious competition. Fists and feathers flew with abandon as the audience argued over whether Raven's Goth Dommy Mommy vibes outweighed Qrow's tragic backstory, status as a parental figure and mentor who genuinely cares for the children he has accepted responsibility for, and general soggy patheticness, but ultimately Raven Branwen claimed victory over her brother, whose Semblance struck once more and prevented him from taking advantage of a last-chance opportunity to replace a pair of underperforming contestants in a late matchup.
The matchups are only getting spicier from here, folks! We at VNN know you've got strong opinions on the outcomes, so if you'd like to place your money where your mouth is, you can place your bets with one of our official partners at www.XiongSportsBooks.com (no relation to the notorious Xiong crime family) or support your favorite contestant by buying the finest merchandise Atlesian sweatshops can coerce poverty-stricken Faunus into producing for far less than a decent living wage in the Merchandise tab of our website! Use the code ASHES for 20% off all Cinder Fall-, Pyrrha Nikos-, and Arthur Watts-themed merchandise and the code SDC for a 10% discount on a new pair of Schneezys (limit one per customer).
