I actually play this game.
It gets even weirder than the vest “jacket.” There are a lot of oopsies and laughable glitches and translation errors, including a glitch that accidentally made your character bald and naked, but as far as clothes go, this set took the cake in both silly names and silly descriptions. I burst out laughing and shared the scarf with everyone I knew.

You what? “Seckilled?” I have no idea what this is supposed to mean.

I JUST FOUND OUT MY LATEST OBSESSION HAS A STEAM PORT SO OOPS NOW ITS YALLS PROBLEM TOO!
Everyone loves Shining/Love Nikki so much but never??? Talk about this??? As someone that has played both Love Nikki AND Shining Nikki, Life Makeover is SO MUCH BETTER.
Avatar customization is on-par (and possibly better than) Sims 4 in many ways. You control the shape of your face, the thickness of your lips, and even the shape of your eyes and ears. Yes, your ears. YOU CAN GIVE YOURSELF ELF EARS. AND DARK SCALERAS TOO.
Speaking of eyes, the game also has a REALLY nifty Contacts feature that lets you change your eye color/pattern on a whim and some of them are even animated! You can even have cat-eyes as your default pattern without owning the contacts version of it!
There is an EXTENSIVE dye system with 144 choose-able colors, and most items that have multiple parts let you choose colors for each major part! (Love Nikki wouldnt even DARE)
More-over, you get a HOUSE. A WHOLE HOUSE. You get to customize it and invite friends over, and you can even learn to cook! You can get extra energy per day from sleeping in your house's bed, and you can earn housing currency by keeping yourself fed and clean.
But one of my favorite parts is how it LOOKS.
LIFE MAKEOVER is made in UnReal Engine, so it looks AMAZING on both PC and Mobile.
Its also very nicely animated, which really shines through on both the home-screen's idle animations, as well as the "music videos" showing off the outfit you make for each stage's requirements.
The story is fairly interesting and is actually properly translated (sorry Love Nikki, but some of your translation errors still make me cringe.) Its fully voiced and the story mode has illustrations using Live2D software to make the characters move and react!
If you want a fresh and FREE fashion game with free-to-play friendly events, try this! Its free, so no money lost if you don't like it. Just uninstall it!
If you give it a try, use my Invite code! < K8A4VTX >

These two funky games!!!!!!
So, MN ("Mirai Nikki" acronym I'll use) was a pretty successful manga, at least, successful enough they got a Visual Novel!!!
This came out about right after the manga ended, so it is based off the manga art style, and might have some contradictory characterisation between this and the anime adaptation. (It's nothing too bad it's just Takao being inconsistent and no one cares about Takao eheheh)
This game being titled, Mirai Nikki 13 Ninme No Nikki Shoyuusha, or, Future Diary the 13th Diary Keeper.
As you see, there are two covers! One with an added "Re:Write". That's because it's a remake, made after the anime!
There's a few changes with the UI, and added mildly spicy scene of a character changing her clothes, an added 5.5 chapter to explain a character's origins more clearly, but most importantly!!
They has the VAs who worked on the anime also voice for this game! Which means you do get to hear your favourite character's lovely voice more :)
So yea I think it'd be a better experience for you to play the remake.
It's a very fun VN! (This is a lie)
I mean, in general, I think it is a pretty fun experience. You don't need to know the material before hand, but of course, if you do, you get to see more of your blorbos! (And also get utterly dissapointed, just like the manga and anime!)
The only drawback of this I see in my viewpoint as a MN fan is that. Well. It suffers because. It's apart of the MN series. So it suffers. Sort of. Similar problems as the original story, with how they handle the characters. And. Their. Importance. Ahah.
Oh, the VN story itself! It's a brand new story, taking place about right in the middle of the Survival Game! (Right after someone's death) but no worry, they revived! All the Diary Keepers Yukiteru and Yuno killed revived. For reasons unknown! And guess what, by the title! Yep! New Diary Keeper baby!!! (And also another character along with that new player! She's a sweetie)
Idk if I can convince you to play, I mean, compared to the OG story of MN, it. I mean. It's not as uh dissapointing. Lesser dissapointment, but still there. But I'd reccomend this to get to know the characters to a newbie rather than the manga/anime tbh.
The playtime! I have no idea. Each chapter for me 100%-ing it took around. 3 hours.? And it has 6 chapters + the bonus Re: write 5.5 chapter for backstory. The last chapter (for me at least) was exceptionally frustruating but that's most likely because I lost the will to play bc I'm a piss baby and my blorbos died.
Okay, so. A few more things.
The side stories!! After you unlock some things abt a chapter you can get side stories for every Diary Keeper (except Yukiteru) plus Murmur! So extra lore! But he warned! Some of them are uh. *Checks notes* God damn the writers of this game did not characterise my blorbos well. Frustruating for me, but oh well, perhaps you have other characters you like instead that are. Not them. Still, even with these, and the characters being revived, some still get pretty shitty screen time and not much added lore. (Oh Kamado ....) Basically, you get to see what they were doing while being away from the protags.
There's I think 3 different endings, the translator of the game gives them names of Normal Ending 1, 2, and True Ending iirc. The story isn't. That? Changing with your choices. I mean you get to see some extra dialogue if you choose "this dialogue option" and "staying at this place" but not really changing the story. No bad ending either, unless you wanna count your game overs lol.
Differing POVs! Okay, so, starting with the 2nd chapter, you get to pick different protags to play from! There are a total of 6 characters you can play as, within their respective chapters. It's not like they're all playable at the same time, it's more of you get to see what this character was doing at this time while other characters did other things. Unlike the side stories, you can choose options, and things can make you die eheh.
So idk! Play it if you wanna! There is no ENG translated version, only a translation document for you to refer to when playing the game, if you that matters to you. The translation doc is provided by @/sunniedesi here on Tumblr.
Rambling over um one last thing
Tumblr media
The VN artists decided to give Yomotsu a buldge. 👍 One positive from this game :]
OMG MIRAI NIKKI IT WAS ONE OF MY FIRST ANIMES i never even heard it had a visual novel tho. i never got into the anime that much but if i see the vn maybe that would change :3 i heard the anime has some Issues but. people who ignore the flaws their fave media has (without like. excusing them) and rewriting in their head to obsess over are gods strongest soldiers 👍
i dont own a pc but one day i might rewatch the anime and play the vn i think. ehehehe
also HELP?????? i vaguely remember that guy being an one ep side character or whatever from the time i watched mn in middle school and every time i saw you on the dash i thought it was funny that you made a character with one ep of screentime your blorbo. the fact that he has more content in the vns explains that though 👍 have fun with your weirdo fave he seems funny

Title: Nautilus WC: 850
“It’s probably no big deal.”
—Kate Beckett, Love Me Dead (2 x 09)
His daughter is a nice kid. That doesn’t surprise her any more—not the way it did when she first met him. She’s nice. She has a good head on her shoulders. She’s earnest and a mixture of self-reliant in some ways an a little immature in others. It makes sense, she supposes, given him and, she has to admit, especially given the girl’s mother. She’s had to do for herself in a host of ways and, given Castle’s overprotective tendencies, she hasn't been asked or maybe even allowed to do for herself in others. And she’s attached to him, obviously and unsurprisingly. The two of them are attached to each other, and she has to hand it to him. He’s raised a nice kid.
. . . who knows an awful lot about her.
She’s trying not to be weirded out by it—the confident opening after the almost comically formal Thank you for taking the time to meet with me Detective. She is reasonably sure she managed at least not looking weirded out by the the sudden declaration: I understand you did a semester abroad, and I know Paris isn’t Kiev, but . . .
It’s an absurd thing to be weirded out by. Of course he knows she studied abroad, despite the fact that she has never told him any such thing. But she’d categorically refused to elaborate on her Russian gangster’s moll persona after their adventure in Chinatown. Of course, he would have wheedled as many details as possible out of Ryan and Esposito immediately after said adventure. She understands that’s how he works. He develops infuriatingly good hunches and displays equally infuriating skill in following them.
What she doesn’t understand is how any of this translates into dinner table conversation that someone as wildly overprotective as he is would consider suitable for his teenage kid’s tender ears. Because she knows he's not sharing tales of himself about to die of a self-inflicted Russian mobster wound. And she has to believe that he’s not regaling his daughter with her adventures in pantslessness. So how do the dry details of her college career even come up? More to the point: Why does he even care?
That may actually be the question. Why does he care? What does he care about?
He’s a writer. She gets that, sort of. She has a vague sense and the memory of the murderboard in the Bat Cave to tell her that—loath as she is to admit it—there is some work involved in what he does. He’s not exactly Michelangelo chipping away all the bits that are not Nikki Heat, but the Nikki that ends up on the page does emerge out of backstory, some of which he’s left on the cutting room floor, to mix a metaphor.
So he lives his life dreaming up ways to provoke her not just into externalizing her thought processes—which, by the way, have always worked just fine as internal thought processes—but into sharing about her mother, into coughing up details about the secrets she kept from her dad when she was his daughter’s age.
It’s on that last point that he loses her. Or she gets lost there, at least, because how can that possibly matter? What deftly shaded nuance can her adolescent secrets possibly impart to Nikki Heat?
Contemplating all this may be what’s actually weirding her out.
Things with him are like the very start of the yellow brick road. When the powers that be conspired against her and she took those first resentful steps on to that path, everything was well within sight. His motives seemed as clear as they were clichéd—he was dead set on a conquest and while he was pressing every single one of her buttons, as well as a few he had installed himself, he’d shake her down for details for a book he might or might not ever write.
She has, since then, moved further along that road, the two of them spiraling out together. She has come to accept that he is invested in the work. Even though his dogged interference on that first case might have been   boredom or morbid curiosity or a thinly veiled excuse to pursue her, she knows that their rift last spring—his banishment—wounded him in ways that go well beyond the clichéd. She’s come to accept that the thoughts he coaxes out of her as they work a case are a net positive—that the ways they challenge each other’s thinking are a recipe for success and he’s proud of that. He values it.
But he talks to his daughter about her college days. He might well want to know all the secrets that she kept from her dad, even if they’re boring, innocent, teenage things that simply looked silly in the light of day. He might be invested in more than the work and that’s a possibility that she didn’t see coming when they stepped out on to this wide spiral arm of the yellow brick road they’re on.
She’s trying hard not to be weirded out by that.
A/N: The dreadmill lives. Brain Poneh cannot let go of the issue of conduits of information here. It's hard not to picture Beckett squirming, at this stage of the game, to think she's a topic of dinner table conversation.

Anyway for people who followed me during my love nikki lost in translation era, I'll probably give the new style savvy a try when it releases.
I would've probably played one by now, but cartridges are expensive and I dont want to fuck up jailbreaking my 3DS to download it

hello! your posts have really made me want to get into Kirby, and i was wondering how to start? thank you!
anon i hope you know that when i checked my notifs and saw this ask i got the biggest smile on my face and ran to my computer to answer... love talking about my special interests but that's besides the point!
i don't know how lengthy this'll get, so i'll put it under the cut for good measure!
if you're asking story wise, kirby games stories are usually very simplistic, so you can hop into any kirby game and not need to have any knowledge of the other games/lore
as for which game to play first - it's honestly up to what consoles you have? since again it doesn't matter which one you play first.
If you have a switch i don't see any reason as to not jump straight into the most recent game: forgotten land! it's the first 3d game in the series and honestly one of my favorites.(edit: as i was thinking more yeah i’d def recommend this as a first game i think)
other than that, i'd recommend either return to dreamland on the wii, or kirby super star ultra which you can get on the nintendo online NES app (there was a ds remake as well which gave it a new coat of paint and added a few new modes)
the only games i would not recommend for a beginner is
Kirby and the amazing mirror: very easy to get lost, can be confusing at times
Robobot planet: The story hits 10000% harder when you're attached to popstar and its characters, so i'd recommend playing any of the other games first before playing this one so it hits a bit harder.
Squeak squad: Maybe? defiantly not a bad game imo, but the story's kind of weird and it's infamously known for "the game where hal just really didn't know what to do with kirby and it showed"
there's also light novels and various manga publications, but i'd recommend reading these when you're a little accustomed to the games i think (or you can just jump straight into them whatever you wanna do anon):
the light novel series is its own universe separate from the games, they sometimes adapt the games (again, doesn't matter which novel you start with or you read) a masterpost is here
there are so many mangas. the main one i see people talk about is kirby manga mania - its a gag/joke manga which means the characters in it also differ drastically from their game counterparts.
there's also kirby kira kira pupupuland , 4 koma manga which basically means its a gag manga again but in 4 panels
there's also pupupu hero and manmaru nikki, but there is no translation for them that i can find
that's everything i can think of for now! thank u for asking anon i love having an excuse to talk about my special interests and if you have any questions of course let me know :3
as a side note, If you can, i'd recommend pirating the games where you can - the games that came before the switch can go for super high prices in my experience, and ontop of that there's no way to play them outside their original console , but you can't buy them directly from nintendo anymore so what can you do but pirate them lol

OPINION
MAUREEN DOWD
The Ogre Gorging on America
Jan. 27, 2024
If you can imagine the lobby bar of the Manchester Marriott as an Anglo-Saxon mead hall, I can explain how it felt to cover the New Hampshire primary.
I will need the help of the late Seamus Heaney, who described what it was like to be quaffing in Heorot Hall while Grendel lurked and swooped through the frost-stiffened north.
In his lyrical translation of “Beowulf,” Heaney described Grendel as “the terror-monger,” the “captain of evil” and “the dread of the land.”
He wrote that the fiend “ruled in defiance of right” and was “malignant by nature, he never showed remorse.”
The “powerful demon, a prowler through the dark, nursed a hard grievance,” he said, adding: “Grendel waged his lonely war, inflicting constant cruelties on the people, atrocious hurt,” pursuing “vicious raids and ravages.”
The New Hampshire primary felt like a chapter of that Old English saga: Donald Trump, the ogre who keeps coming back to terrorize us, was stomping around that lovely little snow-covered state, devouring his foes.
Unfortunately, Nikki Haley was no Beowulf. She was not mighty and canny enough to rescue us from the brute. Not a single mead bench was broken in the battle. Her blade made slight cuts, but she was tentative, hoping not to drive away Trump supporters. She was on defense, not offense. She needed more of that adamantine quality that Nancy Pelosi showed against Trump.
Haley did not say what needed to be said: Donald Trump should not be president because he tried to overthrow the government. We can’t have someone guiding our democracy who is undemocratic, claiming that every contest he loses is rigged. We can’t have a president who encourages violence, vomits misinformation, campaigns by humiliation and smears and, lately, portrays himself as divine.
Engorged by his victories over Haley and Ron DeSanctimonious, the Mar-a-Lago Monster grew stronger.
Haley was able to get under his skin by taking a page out of his book on election night. She took her second-place finish and boasted that it really counted as a win of sorts. And that sent Trump into a scary “Caine Mutiny” monologue.
All he had to do Tuesday night in Nashua was be gracious in victory and say he was going to focus on the general election.
But he is so frightened of being cast as a loser that he was totally thrown for a loop by Haley bragging about taking the silver medal. He thinks he’s the only one who’s allowed to spin election results.
“I said, ‘Wow, she’s doing, like, a speech, like she won,’” Trump said. “She didn’t win. She lost.” How removed is he from his own reality that he can say that with a straight face? That he doesn’t know he’s talking about himself?
He was befuddled by the effrontery of Haley continuing her challenge to him. He couldn’t stop his Captain Queeg rant.
Ah, but the strawberries.
“We’ve won almost every single poll in the last three months against Crooked Joe Biden, almost every poll. And she doesn’t win those polls. And she doesn’t win those. This is not your typical victory speech, but let’s not have somebody take a victory when she had a very bad night. She had a very bad night.” (Needless to say, Haley does win some polls.)
Ah, but the strawberries.
“I said I can go up and I can say to everybody, ‘Oh, thank you for the victory. It’s wonderful.’ Or I can go up and say, ‘Who the hell was the impostor that went up on the stage before and, like, claimed a victory?’ She did very poorly, actually.” He added: “I don’t get too angry. I get even.”
Ah, but the strawberries.
“But I felt I should do this because I find in life you can’t let people get away with bullshit. You can’t. You just can’t do that. And when I watched her in the fancy dress that probably wasn’t so fancy, come up, I said, ‘What’s she doing? We won.’”
What does that bitchy line about Haley’s pretty blue flowered dress even mean? It’s as if he can’t even summon a sexist insult that makes sense. No wonder Haley called him “totally unhinged” on Friday.
He kept going with his demented rant on Truth Social two days later: “I heard BIRDBRAIN totally ‘bombed’ last night in South Carolina. Why the surprise, she just bombed in Iowa and New Hampshire in a very big way, and lost both States.”
He has really lost the thread of how a democracy works. This was evident again in his outrageous endorsement of a plan to short-circuit the primaries and have himself crowned the presumptive nominee by the Republican National Committee. After a backlash, he backed off and disavowed his own desire.
Trump was still acting erratically in a federal courtroom in Manhattan on Friday, stalking in and out. After the jury returned a verdict ordering him to pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll for defaming her, he blasted out a screwy screed on Truth Social, ending with, “THIS IS NOT AMERICA!”
Fortunately, it is. But it won’t be if Grendel terrorizes his way back into the Oval Office.

why are all the men in the green druidess’ fics always portrayed as really shitty.
i mean, aside from frankie bello, they’re all depicted as these shitty, shallow, one-note meat sacks who treat her heroine like garbage and their relationship is always borderline abusive. from the “running from something her past” trope in like loving the dead, and turns out that something was joey; “something happened in my past”, yeah he was poisoned, that’s what happened. which leads to peter turning into a total asshole (or not? the little piece of what i was shown of this latest chapter of that fic, it seemed totally harmless to me) and leads her heroine to nikki sixx—and from the little bit i saw with life after death, that’s not really the best idea.
all the men are really shitty and her heroine is an idiot (re: “first time you get bit, it’s not your fault. but the second time you go in for a petting, you knew.”)
i mean, i get it if that’s the point. but it gets weird after a time, though, especially when i think about how she sits in my memory. no, not weird. disconcerting.
it gets really disconcerting really fast, knowing this mean person is taking the personae of musical men (who also happen to be dark-haired which is… very unsettling) and depicting them as horrible people. yeah, rpf is just by use of their image, but it confirms my descriptor of her fics as “mean-spirited”. they’re paranoid and overly clean in diction, they get on the nerves really quick, they’re quite problematic in a sense that she shamelessly copies, and they’re mean-spirited, in an ethical sense and in a sense of gender roles. add to this: holy shit, has that trope been done to death. i already don’t really like it to begin with, either: it’s just dumb and i don’t find it very entertaining. the biggest example of this trope that people point to is wuthering heights, but even that’s inaccurate because catherine knew that her love of heathcliff was wrong, but because of institutionalized racism and the fact heathcliff was an outsider. and then, after being treated like dirt for most of his life, he became an abuser in his own rite and you stop sympathizing with catherine and you see the big picture (and you instead feel bad for nelly having witnessed all this). it’s a book about generational trauma and how it’s inherited through the generations, and not only has this been completely discarded, but it’s been watered down and lost in translation so much through wattpad fanfictions that it’s troubling. (really, you read wuthering heights for the “romance”, i’m going to ask you if there was something in your past if you think catherine and heathcliff are a dream couple.)
i’m glad i’m taking the loren bouchard approach with my testament fics and the conflict comes from outside. it’s not just with dead man walking, either: i look back at fever and yeah, sam and alex started out not liking each other, but they warmed up to each other and alex eventually showed his kindness to her, and then they became friends followed by best friends and then at the very end, she confessed her love to him and he tells her he’s loved her since the moment he saw her, he just never knew how to admit it to her. what major conflict happens throughout that fic primarily comes from outside, driven home by the fact it was just the two of them at one point. yeah, they both slip—they both hold a lot inside, and there’s the scene where alex takes great umbrage to the fact sam drew him in the buff without his knowledge, but he realizes that there’s actually nothing wrong with it.
but it was never anything like… “peter/joey/nikki, what’s wrong?” “THERE’S NOTHING WRONG, GET OUT!” *cries* “oh, baby, i’m sorry, come back” for chapters ad nauseam until she finally tells him to fuck off and yet she’s still heartbroken (you know, now that i write it out, i don’t get why people on wattpad are so enamored by this because it’s so uncomfortable, and more so when it’s just the same fic over and over again at its core. and it’s super on-the-nose, too, like i remember reading the silence and there was a whole section that basically spelled out the entire plot of the fic without a shred of creativity to it). flowers for alexander has the alleged affair between florence and eric but they reconcile and their relationship is mostly wholesome. the real tension is with eric and alex, and also alex and francine: a gay angle and an unrequited thing, too. and with the sci-fi stuff going on in the background, too.
like blood from a stone has the pressure of the royalty and the arranged marriage trope as well as the whole soulmate trope.
eerie inhabitants has the vampires and the things the sisters have to deal with: lily and abby are otherwise partners in crime, because they kind of have to be, their home life blows and the end of the world might happen without their knowing.
in fact, iirc, now it’s dark was like this, too: joey and lars were different à la men in black but they accepted each other because they had to, and they grew and had an arc that way.
blood & chocolate, love is not enough, and—gonna spill the beans a bit—black moon are just about awakening. alex awakening to himself in tandem with my own awakening (with the latter two, it’s through jay, q, and christine). whatever internal conflict there is, it’s always like… “my true love is elsewhere”, or “my friends and i are facing titanic challenges from the outside and i have to leave my bullshit at the door because we have each other”, or “i want to overcome sexual anxiety so i can be at peace”, or “my love left in some irreversible fashion and i’m alone but there are too many questions and this other person seems to get me about that.” there’s always a theme of unity in my fics. i like the loren bouchard/buddy movie approach because it’s fun, but there’s nothing fun about the druidess’ writing, though.  i can only hope that her intent is in a better place.
understand: i don’t want to compare myself to her because it’s ridiculous, but it’s hard not to when i look at her stats in comparison to me and i can’t help but ask questions and be a serious critic for a second.

The wounds I took during the battle are painful but their healing. I look down at the souls slowly falling down to the afterlife.
“Is this what you wanted miss? To see everyone dead?” They whispered.
I look up. I see the cottage in ruins, the field where the flowers grew burnt to ass. The smell of death was everywhere. I don’t see her. My light, my purpose...my love.
“I did not want any of this” I gestured to the scene before us.
“ I just wanted a quiet life. I had a wife, family and a purpose” I said sadly “but you refused to let me rest. You refused to find a different way.” I said angerily.
The spirits said nothing in return.
“So when you get to the place your going to, do me a favor. Tell them they have a war. And that I’m coming for them.” I say with anger and revenge.
“That’s not going to bring her back!” The spirits shot back.
“I know. I’m not trying to bring her back. I’m killing them. This time for good!” I tell the spirits as they finish falling. I know that this road will be long and that I will never see her again but it will be worth it. I had given them too many chances. This time they’ll pay. No matter what.
