#text #polls #im rly curious abt this #i havent painted in foreverrr :{ i took an oil painting class that i loved but working with paint that never dries was difficult #but also helpful to be able to wipe it off even like a week after i fucked up lol #i liked it tho !! i wish id gotten to spend more time on my final bc it was so fun but i wasnt quite done #literally went in with a paint pen like last month to touch up some stuff #might go try and finish it fully but idkkkk. i dont have oil paints so id have to do it in acrylic and idk how easy itd be #ANYWAy #ive never worked with ink before and i only have worked with oil paint in that class #but the other three ive used a lot and when it comes to on Paper and not canvas #acrylic dries fast which is difficult for me #and watercolor dries slow bc. thats water. and it doesnt always go where i want it to #so usually i prefer gouache bc its a little thicker but not too thick and it dries quick but not too quick. a happy medium #just like goldilocks #on canvas tho i usually prefer acrylic #i think bc i get scared to use up my gouache paints on a bigger canvas #^saying all this and i havent painted in months. </3 #im not even particularly good at it i just like it. makes me happy #waugh. its nice out today maybe i'll go out and paint :} it miught rain tho #so who knows

Listen guys I know I will never be much good* (or even enjoy, tbh) calligraphy, but my mother-in-law keeps giving me old “the basics of calligraphy!!” sets that she finds at goodwill that obviously someone got as a gift in the 90s and never even opened and I enjoy collecting the inks and tiny ceramic bowls and inkstones so, so much ☺️

*this isn’t poor self esteem btw this is clear eyed & serene knowledge of where my skills lay and the answer to that is in art forms that do not require steady hands and good spatial awareness. I like digital art and fiber crafts lmao.

had an odd dream that i was reading a comic book. sketched a couple of the pages i could remember.

#i might adapt this into an actual story because i am SO SO SO mad that it isn't a thing i can go back to reading #oc #im definitely keeping the concept of save-bot i fucking love save-bot he's just doing his best. i love a robot who wants to help people #im not equipped to be writing about underground rebellions with any sense of real tact though #besides its in a superhero universe/story so you know it would just be so sucks lol #sketch #god the colors were so interesting. the teal parts were all very precisely crosshatched and the fire was this gorgeous brush pen looking #colored inks that just seemed like they were MOVING #and i mean some of that was because i was dreaming but god even in my halfhearted copy you can see some of the movement #it was a bad scene but a really really REALLY fun dream. i love when a book can *get* to me so i was really enjoying it #put it aside so i could take a break and woke up. instant fury at the universe for not having it be a real book instead #ill reblog with details if anyone's curious. i can explain this scene but i dont feel like it #the green people are in a secret basement though. hiding from the government. blue jacket guy is a speedster robot named save-bot who does #rescue stuff with every fire department so fire suppression technology is not very good because save-bot "can just save you'' #however they're badly over their legal occupancy and the secret basement has One (1) exit so everyone is like really fucked here. #includinig save-bot who is going to do his job until he dies because he is an ai without any sense of self preservation and he cares #which i didn't even CATCH until i woke up and started tryin to frantically note everything down #and then i was like wait. the glitter on that last page before i realized i needed a glass of water to keep reading... what WAS that... #(it was tears suspended in midair because save-bot goes so fast and also knows he's so fucked LOL) #seriously i'm so mad someone else didn't make this.

What’s your favorite color?

Oh! I think someone once asked me this before, but I don't fully remember what I wrote about it lol.

It should be a simple question, but due to being a chronic overthinker, I have thought about this too much.

Yellow is my answer if I don't have the time or space to explain further. Purple is the second answer. I especially like them together.

I think of yellow as the almost-orange vibrancy you sometimes get at the base of sunflower petals. Purple is the deep dark part you find inside an amethyst.

I also really love teal in its various shades, but especially the shimmering green of peacock feathers or the brighter lighter kind sometimes called seafoam. Match that up with a lovely light pastel blush pink.

I have a lot of opinions on colors and truly I'm fond of all of them. Different ones give me different scenes or memories or moments that I associate with them. I love the golden hues of afternoon shining through the bright green of tree leaves. I love the deep dark burgundy of red wine and the swirling grey of storms clouds above the ocean.

UHHH but all that is to say that yellow is my favorite color. :) Sorry I can get a little carried away and poetic about this kinda thing.

the background for this and also how i am enjoying this where like soooo many ppl i am friends with would call it blasphemy is like. several of my family members were taken away by cults once. some of them came back and some of them i literally have not had a conversation with my entire life bc they left when i was a fucking infant?? but bc of that we were raised with a VERY different worldview than anyone else in my church communities. organized religion, going to church every sunday, sticking to every single rule of the Bible etc etc is STUPID both because 1. cults lmao and 2. that's.......... that's not what christianity is about? that's not what christianity has ever supposed to have been about? that was literally the philistines' way? the kind that Jesus criticized?? so it's like YES the church is like that, and my family is fairly unique in my circle (MY BROTHER got called a cult leader for criticizing organized church?????? lmao?????). yes there are so many churches that call like every single thing a sin and say that the rules are what makes you Good and Saved and whatever but like. it's not christianity. that's what got me going like this isn't anti christ actually it's just about how The Church is fucking stupid

I just checked out the new hobonichi line up for 2024 and damn. I only started getting into getting one last year. Got the green weeks and the yuka hiiragi clear case for said weeks planner. Honestly a really good combo.

Theres a seahorse design aaaaaa, i liked the embroidery designs from last year but felt they were kinda meh in some ways. The bunnies one felt too dark, like the colours used werent contrast-y enough tho i cant say how it looked in person. And while i loveeed the cafe one i wish it had only sweets on it instead lf various cafe foods.

But if i get the seahorse one for next year..i suppose i could just not use a case. Or maybe get the normal clear one... i dont really like the colours they chose for the plain ones. Or wait i could do navy. Thatd make the case i have really pop.

hi there! this is actually the first illustration i finished out of the three but i decided to post the falin one first because it seemed fitting when the dragon episode came out pftt

and since a while has passed, i'm very happy to say that i got a high grade for the mock covers i did! which i'm really happy for since ngl, the venn diagram of "drawings for school that i got a high grade for" and "drawings for school that i'm actually proud of" is very, very small lmao

to save time, i had to forgo coloring in the lines for this drawing which gives it a fair amount of contrast, while i still enjoy looking at it, i wonder what it would look like if i softened it with colored lineart.

i used a different pen for inking this and i was actually surprised at how quick i was! if you don't know, i love doing lineart but i usually am terribly slow at it, inking this one was a pretty fast ordeal!

i streamed this over on the klapollomb server as i was drawing it and i just distinctly remember that after the flats stage and onto shading it: i paused, pen in my hand, looking at the screen with a blank look before i typed into voice chat in all caps, "I FORGOT HOW I RENDER" ASKSKSK

it's been a while since i've actually drawn anything digital that's like, a fullass piece, so yeah 😭 i can forget sometimes. i've been doing trad art for school for like 2 years straight now so the moment i got the opportunity to do digital art i went all out lol
