I see a lot of people saying that we should boycott They / Them (the new LGBT horror movie) because it’s a Blumhouse film and Blumhouse did Split, which was wildly offensive and fucked up (and not fucked up in the fun horror movie way).

And like, I get it, that movie was horrible, but what I feel like a lot of people who aren’t horror fans don’t realize is that Blumhouse is pretty much the Disney of horror in that MOST horror movies nowadays are attached in someway to the Blumhouse name (To name a few big ones: Get Out, Happy Death Day, Sinister, the new Halloween movies, The Purge movies, and the Paranormal Activity movies).

Like, if you still don’t feel comfortable watching it due to it being a Blumhouse movie and the Blumhouse name being attached to Split (among other bad movies), that’s 100% fine, but I thought I should clarify things for those unaware.

every now and then i get a bit emotional about how much ghost has genuinely inspired me to become a better artist, to do more creative things with my art, to draw inspiration from new places, and to embrace horror as a genre that I truly love to draw........ 

I was in a creative rut for a long time, and I only ever drew the same things over and over again and it was frustrating not having a real muse, but ghost inspired me to do more studies, to draw more narrative things, and it gave me the motivation to actually start a really fun and really intense series (these tarot cards) that’s pushing me out of my comfort zone - forcing me to plan compositions, to thumbnail full pieces, to work on backgrounds and color schemes, all stuff that I was slacking on just so I could only focus on headshots facing slightly to the left.

Now, I have a much better grasp on lighting and composition, on environmental storytelling, on backgrounds and perspective, all the things i wanted to be good at but just couldn’t find the motivation to learn. Not to mention how genuinely happy ghost makes me, ghost has turned me into a much better, much happier, much more inspired artist, and I really can’t express how thankful i am for that
