“I think Leto has some kind of internalized misogyny. It would would explain why she gaslights and leaves Artemis in the dark while Apollo is her favored golden boy. Also she makes that gross comment about Persephone being a "bitch in heat" and berates Apollo on his stupidity, not him being an entitled sexist dudebro to Persephone. Also her overreaction to Niobe's bragging could count as well.”

☀️ Apollo ☀️
His wrathful/true form takes on an appearance similar to Leto
Info ☀️
- Since Leto is their mother, Hera is particularly resentful of Artemis and Apollo. Hera is not happy about any of Zeus's affairs obviously but this one was particularly angering because it was with an immortal (and titaness) instead of a mortal.
- Apollo knows about how Hera tormented his mother during her pregnancy and is resentful of Hera in return.
- He's very busy, since he is the god of many, many things (prophecy, music, poetry, archery, healing, protection of the young. There's more than this btw)
- He is very much loved by mortals and he enjoys it. He often visits the many temples built for him, giving gifts and prophecies to his worshippers
☀️ Artemis and Apollo
- Like I said on Artemis's post, Apollo and Artemis are twins but they aren't similar in appearance (plus that's not how opposite-gender twins work anyways lol) There's very contrasting appearance between them along with pretty opposite personalities.
- They have a great relationship between each other and are both pretty competitive, especially when it comes to archery
- They're always trying to do things for Leto, who is ostracized for being the last titan not locked up in Tartarus or forced into servitude, along with being hated by Hera.
I probably might as well do a Leto post sometime since I've done Artemis and Apollo lol

Lore Olympus this week is whole lot of OOOOHHHH FFFFFUUUUUCCCCCKKKK!!!!!
Tumblr media
No sooner has Apollo taken over than he starts cleaning out the dissenters, starting with Eros and Psyche. You know, like a real-world dictator!
Medical gods so corrupt? Why does the American Healthcare system come to mind? Oh yeah.... insurance.
Thank you, Eros, for pointing out the blatant repeat of history.
Oh, and just in case E&P won't be silenced...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Apollo's got his Mom as his backup with his bullshit.
What pisses me off more is that Leto actually believes her son's bullshit. Like, I get that Zeus & Hera both shafted her when she was pregnant with Apollo and Artemis, but I'd like to believe that SOMETHING had to come off as odd to her about her son. However, given that I don't think she knows Apollo SA'd Persephone, there might be a lot more that Leto doesn't know (and should) about her son's deeds.
Tumblr media
And Apollo doesn't stop at just Eros & Psyche. He signed the note as Hebe intentionally to get her out of the way without having to jail her. Ugh!
Tumblr media
While Apollo is cleaning out the palace, Persephone is having a serious crisis --- Everything is turning to winter.
From some of her thoughts, snow and winter were a legend of the past, but that it hasn't happened in who knows how long. I wonder if autumn was just an extra long season until Persephone ate the pomegranate.
Needless to say, Demeter is furious that her daughter's very purpose is just flat-out gone. Naturally, she blames Hades, and for once, she's probably not wrong.
[IN B4 YES, PERSEPHONE ATE THE POMEGRANATE OF HER OWN FREE WILL.]
Could we blame Apollo's machinations for this? Possibly. It could be something related to the prophesy, but I don't think this is the case. In terms of Rachel's method of storytelling, there could be a deeper connection to the prophesy of Apollo's takeover.
I think Persephone causing winter instead of spring here was more a part of what she gave up when she ate the pomegranate. If my theory of there being an extra-long autumn is the case, then the pomegranate deal meant that winter happened instead. Persephone had to spend a whole half of the year in the Underworld instead of just 3/4 of it. That would likely put things more in line with not only the real world, but with the original myth as well.
Tumblr media
I was going to put this bit in my own words, but Rachel just came right out and said it, so I don't have to.
I know that I and other LO fans have made guesses and speculations that turned out to be incorrect before. It happens. I know I've guessed wrong before. I think in this instance, Rachel didn't want an incorrect assumption to be made right out of the gate and nipped it in the bud immediately.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my LO post!

Wild take but I wish Leto as the big bad
Tumblr media
Hear me out. (Sharing this here form my Reddit)
what if you subtract everything about oranos trying to control things through Apollo and all that. Subtract how Kronos has been sapping hera and harrasing her for days. Go back to Right after the whole thing with Kronos getting pulled back into Tartarus. And i am even tempted to take out the entirety of the sa plot point ENTIRELY but keep the plot of Apollo trying to force Persephone to marry him and using Daphne the terrible online therapist to get at her.
Now give the central roll to women of the series. We had a big bad guy in Kronos, now give us a Big bad gal with some political intrigue , historical , drama , and legit revenge in there. Like here we’d have a woman who yeah say Persephone as an attribute to their plan but neither saw her as with being jealous of, fighting over a man with, none of that shit. She simply sees Persephone as both a good daughter in law as well as securing power within Olympus- because she knew Apollo was a prince and she‘d know a short while after Demeter that Persephone was a fertility goddess. Because Leto is a titan who was around the same time rhea was and all.
She and Demeter could overlap with how they both kept some things from their daughters over what they perceived as protecting them. both intentioned but misguided and hurtful… and Artemis is probably would be honorable and tell or take it really really badly. I’d like to think she genuinely cares about her daughter but pushed Apollo to rulership because she knew it was the “better bet”.
Leto should have made the , “why you suck” speech to several characters, not Apollo. Leto has legitimate reasons to hate olympus. Leto has lived in the mortal realm and seen how mortals are treated and could even empathize with Demeter in believing she should have been queen, not just of the mortal realm- but queen of the gods. Becasue Demeter actually does a good job where as she sees Hera as incompetent and neglectful. She can acknowlage Hera’s sacrifice and empathize with her on that but counter that sacrifice doens’t make her qualified to run anything. Especially a position she knowingly undermined her sister for. And she could largely say the same to Zues while adding she has little sympathy for him. She can roast both king and queen for what happened to Leto and countless other women for Zeus sleeping around and them suffering the brunt of it, all because he was king and could get away from it. Leto points out to hera that she get she Was betrayed in marriage but the ones who suffered more were the ones with no power who struggled to say no to a king, and in turn had no safety net or help afterwards... Except for demeter. Simitaniously ratting out Demeter and thanking her with helping her with the twins. Leto could call out just how incompetent much of Olympus was, especially with the persphone case and the Kronos situation. Then she gets to Hades
and his affair with the queen of gods.
finishing it off with “I guess you and Zeus are finally equals now.“
Leto could be a legit morally grey yet still wrong with how she went about it Antagonist. She essentially used her son as like a puppet ruler because she’d know Apollo is wholly incompetent BUT somewhat well meaning. Especially towards his mother, sister, and those in similar situations. However he isn’t the focus but rather An ends to a means while Leto is the actual brains of the operation with plans for Artemis to live a cushy life by proxy. And the key to that- Persephone. Does Leto realize that she is essentially using Persephone like many others wanted to? Possibly, but she also feels the ends justifies the means.
Give us a girl baddy with like legitimate reasons to hate Olympus and see it reformed. a genuinely intelligent one that has is hard to catch and actually use what power she has/gained... and give her her light colored hair bacK so she doesn‘t look like such a hera clone. Give us a gal that isn’t a plot device, is component, isn’t some dudes lackey or obsessed with one, and has some legitimate feminine rage.

God, this Lore Olympus episode.  We finally get to see Artemis really reacting to the fact that Zeus is her dad, and Apollo and Leto knew the whole time and didn’t tell her.  Good for her for deciding to go live with Persephone.  It reminds me of an earlier chapter when she was yelling at Apollo for what Persephone said about him and Apollo insists she’s lying and Leto asks “Artemis, who are you going to believe?  Your family or some goddess you’ve just met?  Looks like Artemis has chosen her side.  I just wonder if Persephone told her that Apollo raped her, or if she’s figured that out on her own.  And does she know that Zeus is failing Persephone for bullshit reasons?  She seems pretty chummy with him.
Speaking of which, Zeus is a bitch-ass for failing Persephone for a reason as simple as asking him to make an exception and passing a letter onto Hades.  Ugh, he’s going to be so insufferable this latter half of season 2, I know it.

Lore Olympus Fast Pass thoughts
This is late but I had a busy week. Under the cut will be my thoughts over episodes 193-194, separated from each other so you can stop if you want to, and I'll see after I fast pass through the next chapter if I'm right about my last prediction.
So!
.192
Whatever else can be said about Demeter's parenting, her construction of a tightly-knit community of women who help eachother is nothing short of admirable and, as we see here, a great cushion to fall back on when shit gets tough.
Daphne came back and it seems Thanatos was sent to the mortal realm too so that at least one God can pickup the mortal souls. All signs point to Daphne being a good influence on him, so hopefully he has a bit more of a backbone now that can better support his morals.
Minthe is back too, and honestly? I'm glad.
Look. Minthe was definitely an abuser. I also cheered when Persephone transformed her. I think there's a conversation to be had about how unrealistic or not that situation might be considering that Hades holds a position of power over her as her boss, but as far as the diagetic events of the story go, then yes, she was an abusive partner. Thing is that, much like Rashta from The Remarried Empress for example, it's clear that as inexcusable as her actions are, her whole attitude seems heavily influenced from the toxic environment and people surrounding her. What she needs is people who won't take her shit but will still genuinely help her out when she's down, and Demeter's nymph commune is the perfect place for that. No more bullshit, no more catty power-games and infighting over some man, no more shallow materialistic distractions from herself and her problems, only hard manual work and connecting with others. It is up to Hades to forgive her or not of course, but also -assuming that I'm right and she has actually changed- don't hold it against the comic if he decides to do so with some bullshit about the story being abuser-apologist or whatever. I mean, I'm sure it will happen regardless of what I say, but still, if you're reading this try to keep some nuance in mind.
Zeus is worried that the condom is expired? More fuel for my fertility goddess theory.
.193
Apollo, truly the son of his father, made a big blunder that failed to consider the reactions of a woman he is close to with his revealed parentage move. Yeah he is formally a prince now, but now Artemis has reasons to doubt him and Leto. Still, she's not really doing anything about Zeus' obvious bullshit regarding her friend, which is ironic given that now she is formally a protector of young women. Eventually she'll have to pick a side.
It's almost, almost moving that Zeus genuinely likes her. It makes sense. Zeus is a sexist pig, but that doesn't mean he doesn't like remarkable, powerful, and capable women. It just means that he likes them as long as they are convenient to him.
.194
Zeus once again proves himself as the God of Short-Sighted Decisions. He probably has the wishy-washy hope that eventually Persephone will make some other big blunder that can justify keeping her sequestered forever, but for the moment his reputation is inevitably going more downhill that Sisyphus' rock. Even in the case that the godly realms unanimously had the worst opinions on Hades and Persephone after the trial, eventually they'll all catch on to the fact that the isolation of the mortal realm is a blatant cover-up/censorship, if they haven't already. And also no amount of bad rep. is going to make them happy that they are being restricted this heavily over 1 goddess. Especially if Zeus tries to spread this idea that Persephone is incompetent, that'll just give the populous more reasons to demand that Demeter be reinstated as harvest goddess and that the isolation is ended so that Hades can have his girlfriend and bring back the exports.
Hecate slaying with that armor top.
Hestia is not around for some reason? My suspicion about her is that she was the one who somehow gave Persephone her fertility powers, but I'm not sure how this would relate to that. Is there a reason why she would have been demoted by now, thus freeing her seat for the eventual Dyonisus?
Aaaand, naturally, Apollo is putting on his friendly leadership face and Zeus is making it all the easier for him with his petty bullshit.
Eris is here as well, so that's another point for female friendships. It must be nice for her to finally have people who accept her as she is, I'm glad for her :) But I do wonder if this + plus Thetis' bullshit means she'll start the war of troy out of some concern/affection for Persephone? I'm not sure she would like that even after she goes full underworld queen. I agree with her that the dress is a winner on her, though ;)
She's also right, sad as it is wrath has a place.
Cerberus is out and harmed. My guess? Heracles. One of his 12 jobs was to take him out to show to his cousin, and this would tie back to showing us that Hebe is grown-up now, since she's his last wife.

Leto redesign.
She looks more sun-like, like Apollo. I wanted her to look less like a copy of Hera with different eyes.

Leto ☀️ Goddess of Motherhood
🌑 Info
- Reserved and modest, she is quiet and graceful
- Always wearing a veil. Underneath, her skin glows faintly
- she is a titaness in a world where the new generation of gods have taken over
- Zeus seduces her which results in her pregnancy with Artemis and Apollo
- She was already a social pariah, but this only made matters worse because no one would risk being seen with her, since they would be risking the wrath of Hera
I haven't made my Hera design yet but one of my goals is to make Leto and Hera more distinct than "Leto is Hera but with black eyes"
At first I wasn't going to keep Leto's black and white color palette but I read "Like her sister Asteria she may also have been a goddess of the night, or alternatively of the light of day." So I thought black and white is actually quite fitting
There's a lot of overlap in Hera and Leto's duties that make things awkward. Marriage and motherhood are very hand and hand. And I think the possibility of Leto being associated with night or stars while Hera is goddess of the sky and stars of heaven is also an interesting overlap

Love the redesign you did with artemis and apollo, the monochrome coloring pops out quite well
Thank you so much! I’m glad it pops out, was a little worried the blacks/whites would blend together values wise. It really makes them stand out from the rest of the cast!
