In honour of my Legolas post getting 5,000 notes, I have more weird Legolas for you. This elf sleeps with his eyes open. He can speak more than one language, so he's weird in more than one language. He SHOOTS DOWN A NAZGUL just on a whim in the dark because he saw it, Let's not forget "oh, yeah I went to fetch the sun and she was chilling in a field so I've come back to watch you struggle". In the films it always confused me that Legolas is at the front with Gandalf in the mines of Moria until I realised that he can actually see in the dark so it's beneficial for him to be there, looking into the distance with his freak eyes (affectionate).

In defence of Isildur
Isildur is a character that was done dirty by Peter Jacksons movie adaptations of the Lord of the Rings, when Cirdan and Elrond told him to destroy the ring he claimed it as a weregild, a totally normal thing for any person to do that was just completely traumatized by the death of their father and brother and was pretty grief-stricken at the moment. After one year however, he wrote in the scroll of Isildur that he had noticed that the ring was evil and that, although he said he wanted to do it no harm, he went north through the Gladden fields to reencounter his wife and son in Imladris, but also to ask Elrond for counsel on the ring. If he had gotten the counsel to destroy it, I doubt that the saviour of Nimloth's fruit would have at least tried very hard.

Lugdush: Lemme get this straight. [Gestures to Merry and Pippin, tied up and looking on warily] We have to somehow get these Halflings -
Ugluk: Yeah.
Lugdush: From here, back to Isengard?
Ugluk: That's the conundrum.
Lugdush: Whoa.
Ugluk: Yeah, internationally...
Lugdush: Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa, whoa. Slow down, Einstein.
Ugluk: The way I understand it-
Lugdush: Right.
Ugluk: These Halflings have to go from here...
Lugdush: Right.
Ugluk: ...To Isengard...
Lugdush: Absolutely.
Ugluk: [Stretches in frustration] These Halflings are driving me nuts.
Lugdush: [Pulls up a PowerPoint and points to certain points on said PowerPoint...] Okay. Alright, so we diagrammed it, we've got this part clear. We've got this part clear -
Ugluk: Yes.
Lugdush: This is the only fuzzy part -
Ugluk: The middle.
Lugdush: So we're working on the fuzzy middle.
Ugluk: Yeah.
Lugdush: Okay. [Quiet for a moment.] Explain the problem to me again?
Ugluk: [Leans in, motioning to Merry and Pippin] We have to get these Halflings -
Grishnakh: [Comes in, motioning to Merry and Pippin as well] Hey, do you guys know how to get these to Mordor?
[Ugluk and Lugdush sigh and lean over. Cue FedEx announcing that it doesn't have to be this hard.]

I knew that the lord of the rings series was good but no one prepared me for how good the humor is as well. Like there are legitimately a few times that I've been listening (I'm reading it in audiobook form narrated by andy serkis in the libby app) and have laughed out loud at a clever line

Rereading Lord of the Rings right now, and this part from the Council of Elrond made me cackle out loud
‘Not bad,’ Bilbo said to [Frodo]. ‘You would have made a good story of it, if they hadn't kept on interrupting. I tried to make a few notes, but we shall have to go over it all again together some time, if I am to write it up. There are whole chapters of stuff before you ever got here!’
Frodo literally talked about risking his life and almost dying at least three times on his way to Rivendell, and all Bilbo could say was “Write that down ! WRITE THAT DOWN !” my good sir your nephew was on the brinK of DEATH

I would just like to put something out there for you Lord of the Rings/Hobbit fans! (Spoiler free)
You can take this or leave it, but please read. For those of you that are hesitant to watch The Rings of Power, please don’t be. I know people are giving it really bad reviews, but that doesn’t mean you’ll hate it. A lot of people giving hate reviews haven’t even seen the series (not all, but most, or they watch only a little bit). They just assume. Please don’t shrink away from this opportunity just because you read bad reviews. There are also really good reviews. You may really like it!
I know people who have seen all of the movies and read all of the books (and love them), and they loved the series! In fact I was just talking to one in person, and she was telling me how much she loved how it tied into the rest of the movies. She also couldn’t believe how hateful people were being towards it.
I get it, they changed some things, but I am asking you to give it a chance. Don’t go into it with a negative attitude though. I have learned from experience that if you go into it thinking you’ll hate it, you’ll hate it. Go in open with zero expectations. You may really enjoy it! And I also know that we all have different opinions and you may just not like it… but what if you do? Try it.

What Pets I Think LOtR Characters Would Have
may or may not be a collab with @aromanticmara
Legolas: cat (a rag doll) - it’s stealthy but not the brightest
Gimli: dog (a huge one like a St. Bernard)
Eowyn: dog (borzoi) - a little odd looking from afar but could keep up with her, they low key look like Faramir
Arwen: cat (classic black cat)
Aragorn: horse (because of course he does)
Gandalf: has no pet but feeds strays from time to time
Boromir: no pets (has Merri and Pippin)
Frodo: a rabbit
Sam: co-parents the rabbit with Frodo but lives in constant fear of it eating his plants
Elrond: was against Arwen getting a cat but now it’s his bestie
Galadriel: a unicorn (deadass just a unicorn)
Thandruil: absolutely hates Legolas’ cat and won’t even pretend to like it
Faramir: his dad got him no pet so he had an imaginary dog
Pippin: raccoon (he took it in thinking it was a cat)
Merri: worms (like legit a worm farm) - he feeds them fungi and stuff to scavenge during all of the hobbit meals
Saruman: snake (definitely some spooky albino one that stares into your soul)
Gollum: his precious
Sauron: the Nazgûls
Tom Bombadil: an owl (old and wise like him) - it’s a very cheery owl though
Goldberry: peacock (she’s just that flashy and Tom wound he deny her that)
Bonus Characters ~ The Hobbit (books and movies)
Bilbo: had a pig but it ran away (Gandalf spooked it)
Radagast: flying squirrel (nothing fancy like a sugar glider, a plain flying squirrel) - takes in all animals though
Tauriel: ferrets (has a whole family of them) - talks shit about the other elves to them
The Dwarves: move around to much to have any permanent pets but they find friends along the road
Bard’s family: birds (definitely some type of song bird for the kids) - that thing never shuts up and it annoys him to no end
